(00:00):
In the studio with me, thelegend George Timmering from Barno's Pizza. Hey,
(00:03):
George's going to see you as always, afternoon and also a police officer
extraordinaire. He's the best of thebest. That's how That's what they tell
me about you, anyway, Jeff, Is that all right? That's what
I hear. Introduce you that way. That's fine, I'll take it.
Jeff Ebrons, who is you've beenon the force? That says fourteen years?
I've been, Yes, I didquite a stint with Low Metro Police
(00:25):
and now work for Shepherdsville. Petegot to love it, and well,
how is it to you only looktwenty five years old. I'm just turned
thirty eight yesterday. So clean livingand pizza. He's got this this kid
face on him, doesn't he,George. That's a good problem to have.
I would guess I appreciate that, all right. George. You're the
(00:45):
king of Barnos Pizza. People knowyou for that, and you're also a
great at serving this community in somany ways. So you come through to
help the police Department of Police Foundationover and over again, and tomorrow I
understand bearnos is reaching out to helpa couple of officers on the mend.
Yes. Uh. Two officers,Brandon Haley and Gertrude Chafflin, both in
(01:08):
the past month, have been hurtwhile on duty and pretty traumatic injuries.
Brandon was shot, Gertrude was hitby a semi truck and lost her leg.
And the good news is both ofthem have made it home. Now.
They have a long way to recoveryand they're in home health and a
lot of challenges, but you know, they're out of the hospital, they're
(01:30):
on the mend, and they're stillwith us. It is the important thing,
Isn't Gertrude in her eighties. She'sin her eighties and she's been a
traffic control officer for forty eight years, and she she's she says she's ready
to get back out there, soshe can't. So, oh my,
gotta love her spirit. And justwhat tremendous forty eight years of service taking
(01:51):
care of kids. I mean, that's that's just unbelievable, nothing more noble
Thanes. And just this morning,I mean, I was out some people
go blowing through school zones. Itdrives me out of my mind. It's
like, can't you see what's goingon here? And it's double the fines
and then something. You know,it's crazy, but Jeff, there are
enough police officers out there to seeall that all the time. And somebody
(02:13):
like Gertrude's a human being standing inthe street trying to hold up a little
stop sign and tell people who poorthing. Yeah, she was doing her
job right in from school and Samididn't stop either. Sami went down the
road, hit and run, andthey got him down the road. Some
good Samaritans followed the truck until Ihope he was able to stop it.
That guy went to jail. Whatis ridiculous. It was absolutely crazy.
(02:37):
Oh my goodness. So Gertrude's statusthough, is even in her eighties,
she is on the mend and shemade it home. Yes she's home.
She's on in home care, butshe's she's got a long way to go,
but she's she is home out ofthe hospital now. She was released
from UL a couple days ago.A matter of fact, Officer Hailey,
we all saw that story. Noarrest have been made as far as I
(02:58):
know, in that shooting for theshooting it for the other arrests were made
for people who are in the nearbyhouse, but he was conducting a traffic
stop. He stopped the car andthen come up to the car and then
shots came out of the house.Ye, shots were fighting. I saw
the video. It was harrowing towatch, absolutely to see all that.
And people don't realize how you putyour life on the line. That video
(03:21):
tells you everything you need to know. Yeah, he was hit pretty pretty
bad right, you know, inthe chest and it went just behind his
vest and it was just a magicalshot. But when gunfire was raining down
like that, he got hit withone of them. A partner magically came
up, grabbed him, drag himto safey and returned fire. And when
(03:42):
he got you know, they didemergency first aid, saved his life and
then threw him in a car andgot him to u L immediately and he
was he's very lucky to be inthe position is he he's in. So
in your training, it's not justall about the rules and regulations, it's
also about how to drag a colleagueout of gunfire. Yep. This when
(04:04):
you're in those high stress situations, you've got to get yourself behind cover.
And that officer that helped him reallysaved his life, druck him out of
the way, returned fire, andthen got him, got him some emergency
aid well while to calling on theradio for more units and help. That's
the other thing is somebody's shot andthey have the wherewithal to get on the
(04:25):
radio and explain. I mean,I guess headquarters knows where the car is.
I guess you know that hasing offgood information? Yeah, but that's
critical quick, that's critical they getthere to stop bleeding right away. Absolutely,
he did his job. He knewwhat he was doing. He got
in there and got his partner outand then got him to safety and then
(04:45):
started working on him. Incredible. So what Spear Nosed Pizza doing for these
officers tomorrow? George? So tomorrow, all thirteen locations, we're gonna be
donating twenty percent of all our salestomorrow. So that's dining, carry out,
delivery, breadsticks, a beer, whatever you purchased from beer and knows
all day long, twenty percent. And we're really excited to do it.
(05:11):
We were real you know, wewould rather never have to have these benefits.
But I'm real proud of of ourown franchise owners, our employees,
and obviously our customers who come outand support us. We had a record
night with Officer Wilt when we didhis benefit, and we would love to
to break another record tomorrow and helpthese two officers. You know, it's
rare, you and normally we justkind of support one, but these two
(05:33):
had a tragedy and we felt likewe should support both of them. And
uh so it's a big day tomorrow. We want people to, you know,
come out, eat early and offand lunch, dinner, whatever you
can do, bring out groups. And you know, we love all the
sales and we love giving a lotof money to support these people, but
you know, we also like seeingbig crowds and people together. First Responders
(05:54):
always come out in big numbers tosupport these events, to support a fellow
first responder, and it's like it'snice to see all the people in uniform
together sitting down fellowship, having mealsand support. And then you know,
and then that also gives an interactionwith regular customers with the first responders,
and you know, there's a lotof positive interaction, no doubt. I
went and bought dinner for us aton the Officer Wilt's benefit night, and
(06:18):
even though it was crowded, theservice was great, so you clearly have
enough people working. When you realizeyou're going to get slammed, well,
yeah, be patient. There's someJeff's store out in Fern Creek, always
one of the big bowman Field,Okolowna. Those are some of our big
stores downtown. We'll get we'll haveone of the busier lunches because of being
(06:39):
downtown. But but you know,we do well at every store. And
like I said, it's big everywherelast year and and but be patient.
If your store is, if yourlocation you choose because you know it's it's
Yeah, it's about getting food foryourself, but it's also about supporting.
Uh, these two officers, thesetwo heroes. Really. I heard from
Officer Matt Sanders over at LMP alittle while ago. He said, Ellen
(07:00):
Pete's Community Engagement Units will be atthat Fern Creek location tomorrow. They're gonna
bring out the Community Engagement Police Hummer, bring it out there, show it
to the kids and everything. It'sgonna be a great time with them and
the media coming up. Hopefully wehave a banner day. It's gonna be
awesome. Okay, that's Fern Creekand that's Barstown Road at Barstown Road at
Fern Creek, right across from HighSchool sixty one O one Barstown Row.
(07:21):
All right, George Timbering, you'reright there by the bridge. That's where
I will be tomorrow. And yeah, but all thirteen locations ready and row?
Okay, any of the thirteen arealocations of bearn Knows Pizza. You're
helping out these two officers who havebeen through some unbelievable trauma. And again,
thanks to bearn Knows just for beingsuch a great community supporter. It's
(07:42):
our pleasure, it's an honor. Thanks for bringing a pizza too. All
right. I went out and wolfedout a piezza at the bottom of the
hour. I was a little lighton lunch today. I'm like, oh,
you know, that sounds like agood idea. That stuff's good.
Nothing better than a Mama Bear.That was a Mama's It wasn't it.
Yes? And yeah, Ian's hada few of those twas. Yeah.
Well, our staff they were waitingfor me to crack the seal on the
(08:03):
box because they're like, well, better not take a pizza. They brought
a terry show. I went outthere. Nobody had opened it yet.
You've been around that pizza. RespectI took one right out of the middle,
and then I looked at all thosekids over there in those sales that
were looking at where I said,go get them. They're on it.
They're on it. Thanks George, appreciate it. Thank you, appreciate Jeff.

(08:26):
