Louisville's NWSL squad Racing Lou features Jordyn Bloomer, who's all business in swatting opponents' shots and incredibly hilarious outside the lines.

Jordyn and Terry Meiners spent a few minutes talking about Racing Lou's momentum, chirping at competition, game announcers' less-than-enthusiastic shoutouts, and Jordyn's unbreakable college football love.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of Louisville's sporting superstars is back in our studio. Hello,
Jordan Bloomer.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hello, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
It's always good to have you back. You were made
to be in broadcasting too.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Just radio or you can do it all, thanks for TV.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
No, you can do it all. What are you talking about?
You were so hilarious the last time you were here.
As soon as you left, everybody's like, we gotta get
her a show.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Oh my god. Well we just have expectations high, let's deliver.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
But you have been delivering for your squad, and that's
where your focus is locked in, right, absolutely racing. Louisville's
got another match coming up, big one here Friday night
versus the Houston Dash seven thirty, and we're so glad
to have I think the toughest goalie in the whole league.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
No buys there anything, right?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
None? What's over? When you and I met, you were
just pretty new to town. And are you now like
the senior advisors to the other players.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
I mean, I would hate to claim that I'm all
of a sudden this mo like ultra experience know everything
type of player. I feel like I'm honestly still learning
every day but it definitely it's been fun. It's been
a fun switch up in job responsibilities.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
But you've been awesome. I mean all of your blocks.
I mean you, you've just been terrific guarding the goal.
I mean, that's that's the gig. Nobody gets into Mama's house.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
She's here to kill all the fun for people right
here to kill the party.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
That's the whole idea. All their dreams are building up.
They're so excited.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I've got an opening.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's just Jordan Bloomer between me and Glory. Sorry about
your luck.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
That's your gig, right, You really hate to see it,
don't you. Unless you're me, of course, then it's not
too bad.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, you've had a heck of a run up late.
We'll get to that in a second. You guys did
pick up another player today. McKenna Morris is coming in
from the Washington Spirit. I don't guess you've had a
chance to say hello yet.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah, so she was just in the building that I
am super excited to have her. I think she's gonna
be a great addition to our squad. And I mean
she's had such a such a hot start already in
the league, as such a young player. I mean, if
that's what you're doing in year one, I think year
two and up can hopefully hopefully bring us a lot
of productivity out on the pitch.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Indeed, And you guys are above the playoff line to
cut line, so you're sitting where you need to be
and it feels good and you've had you've had some
phenomenal nights of late here where you're the headline coming
out of the match.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah. I mean, I have definitely seen my face all
over Instagram, probably more in the past like two months
than I think my entire This is technically my fourth
season in my four years almost of being a pro.
I haven't seen myself on the social media as much
as I have as of late, so it's definitely been
It's definitely been a switch up.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
You're also a fan favorite because I see you out there.
You don't mind spending all that extra time with those.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Fans I try. I mean, I feel so grateful that
they're out here supporting us every week. And I mean,
I know we've obviously not had the best of records
over the past years, so especially anyone that's been with
us from the beginning and even all the new fans
that have come along this season as we're, you know,
gaining a little bit more momentum. They're what make the
sport fun. Like empty stadium isn't as enjoyable. So, I mean,

(03:04):
soccer is awesome, but it's way more fun in front
of ten thousand fans.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, Friday night's gonna be perfect weather, everything's gonna be
set up perfectly for you, guys. I want to play
little audio for you.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
All right, let's do it.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Emma, she's phenomenal, I believe, as we all know. Let's
listen to a little excitement when Emma scores, shall we?

Speaker 2 (03:20):
And it's nunched away hasta as well? The rookie looking
for sears offer.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Chest Seers settles and scores. Emma sears ms.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
We love that. I could listen to that all day long,
and hopefully we get to hear a whole lot more
of that on Friday.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Well, I've got a whole lot of you blocking shots,
blocking people's dreams. You want to hear that?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I mean might as well?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I mean, sure, why not. Let's hear the excitement when
they shot your name.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I was just gonna says back Posteader right on cue.
But Bloomer denies, Dolly goes to goal, Bloomer has it,
Ronnie comes for it from distance, and diving on a
Bloomer sounds so disappointed. They just don't want to see
me succeed. Do that.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
It's like you're the dream crusher for other people.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
But that's the gig, and Bloomer dives on it.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Oh Bloomer, Oh, we were having such a good time
and Bloomer was better than us. Do you ever say
anything those players on the other squad? Oh god, no,
you're not a chirper.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
I am almost exclusively silent in terms of like trash
talk or anything like that, because our position is so
like I do not want that coming back on me,
you know what I mean? Like if I talk too
early and they turn around and they happen to score, oh,
I do not want to hear about it from them
afterwards as I'm picking the ball out of the back

(04:45):
of the night. So I try to be I try
to be as conscious of that as possible. But I
do trip my own teammates every day in training. So
it's not that I don't enjoy a good little bit
of a trash talk. I just save it for my
own team during training.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
On the rare occasion that someone does score on you,
do you cur under your breath or out loud?

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Unfortunately, I've been really trying to be better about my mouth.
It's kind of a problem, so usually out loud and
it's usually very clear what I'm saying. So I'm so
sorry to any of the family friendly broadcast crew that
have to film me, and probably very quickly over at
the camera, so apologies.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
What about What do you hear from the family when
they they try to be.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Really They try to be really so they try to
be really supportive of me in my job, but they're like,
can you please watch your mouth? And I'm like, I'm
so sorry.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Sorry. Are they in Wisconsin?

Speaker 2 (05:33):
They are in Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Are they worked up into packer fever yet?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
They're getting there? But honestly, I think I'm the biggest
football fan of my family, So they don't. They don't
get as excited about it as I do.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Honestly, Well, you know everybody's excited. College football gets going
this week as well. You guys play Friday night and
then Saturday, it's college football everywhere you go. Do you
watch that? You?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Oh? Yeah, huge Wisconsin Badger fan as well, so should
be good. I mean, we open up against Miami of
Ohio and I mean I don't know what this new
squad's looking like this year, but ideally that's not much
of an issue for US.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Has Wisconsin the Badgers? Have they disappointed you in the
last few seasons.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
I would never go on there and say my Badgers
have disappointed me. Never, but maybe.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Because that other team in the middle of Ohio seems
to get a lot of attention. And that's tough, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
It's tough, especially when like you've got Kayla Fisher and
I'm a series you know, Ohio State alums on the team.
It's hard to escape, especially when two to one and
I get hit with the of course oh age and
I'm just like, oh God, here we go again.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
And then do you have any Michiganders that are in
your universe either?

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Uh? So, Avery went to you, Mish, but haven't heard
too much from her. She's just really nice. She's so
nice about it. She just lets it all, she lets
it all play out in front of her. But I
don't know, technically season hasn't started yet, like college football
might bring it out of her.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Where we split with an easy punishment too, and that
was that was kind of disappointing.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
I mean, at this rate, I don't know what they're
gonna do. I saw Auburn just reclaimed a bunch of
national titles as well. Now, so like people are just
doing anything, and I don't think the NC DOUBLEA has
any control.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
We're working on getting our college.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
The Louisville Benner's going back up too, So I mean
it seems like all rules are just out the windows.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
That's right, nobody listens to you anymore. Pop, that's the
way this goes. All right, how's the team chemistry for
racing Louisville right now? You're feeling it?

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Oh my god, we couldn't be better. I think as
a group, like the energy that you feel every single
day going into our locker room and going out onto
that training pitch. I think it's it's been showing on
the weekends when we play and I just think, yeah,
we're We're in a great spot. And I know the
season's far from over at this point. We have a
lot of a lot of ground to cover still. You know,
got to make sure we close out strong. But I

(07:50):
think if we can keep this energy and the vibes
high like we have been. I think truly, like I
said the other day on TV after the game against
San Diego, like sky's the limit for us. I truly
believe that. And I don't know if that's delusional or not,
but I think you gotta be a little delusional sometimes
to be able to make it where you want to go.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
We're forty eight hours from the next match. Now, how
grueling is the roller coaster ride of prep between now
and then tomorrow? Is that a hard day or is
that an easier day?

Speaker 2 (08:16):
It'll be a little bit lighter, But I mean, it's
been so tough considering we just were out on the
West Coast and now we're back home with a couple
of days a couple of days turnaround, so obviously we
have to do a lot of like load management across
the team. So nothing too strenuous tomorrow, but enough to
keep us, you know, ready to go, and you will be,
I'm sure, Oh, of course, of course.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
I want to close out with some more audio here.
Don't just remind people Friday nights seven thirty at Lynn
Family Stadium, it's it's the erasing Louisville squad back at
it this time versus the Houston Dash get there. We
want to fill the fam just like last week for
the guys and this is this would be terrific. I
know you're going to be awesome. Just as you can
hear in the enthusiasm in these announcers voices. You want

(08:58):
to hear a little bit more of that. Well, sure,
why not.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Takes a shot? Then Bloomer just slides over, makes the stop,
moves it in the eighteen Cascarino shoots and it's right
to Bloomer. You know what. That one's just on her.
If she doesn't want it to go right to me,
you just gotta put it somewhere else.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
I love that you are. It is like you're the
parent who's telling them no, no, no, bed time, No,
this game is not gonna.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Go like that.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
The fingerwag. That's it. Jeorde.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I want to know, how do we get you calling
these games?

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I feel like there'd be a little bit more excite
and behind a Bloomer saved type of call if you
were on the I don't know about the rest of y'all.
I could get used to that. I'm gonna have to
start rewatching the games for the broadcast only.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Jordan Bloomer, I'm so happy for you that this is
just blossom the way it has for you, and I
know there's a lot more great great knights ahead.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
And my next vacation, they're gonna call you and ask
you to fill in. Will that work here?

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Hey, I'll puncle in on. Give me the dates and
i'll puncle it in.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
But we won't let anybody else on the station say, well,
following that show, it's Bloomer the way the announcers are
that Bloomer ruined my night again.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Marcetis shoots and stopped there by Bloomer. I think I
should make this like my ringtone or something.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
Honestly, Jordan Bloomer rites in Louisville back in a minute
