(00:00):
You just need to take several seatsand then try to overstall the piece and
control your people hate. I thinkhe's got the swifty rolling now. Kelsey
Starts is in the studio with menow, a long time colleague at whas

(00:20):
good to see you singing. Nowthat's your girl, isn't it it is?
I'm an official Swifty Now. Didyou just see those shows? Yes?
I took my daughters on Saturday toCincinnati and wow, it was.
It was an incredible Everybody says it'sa magnificent show. My wife and daughter

(00:40):
went a few years ago here atthe kfcum Center. Yeah, and they
said it was magnificent show. Andthey were right next to the I guess
runway thing that comes down there, and they said she was nice. It
was incredible because because they were connectedto radio they got to meet her.
She's very nice. I'm just luckyI got a ticket. I asked Racy
when and she came home, whatwas it like meeting Taylor? So she

(01:03):
said she smells great. I believeit. She's amazing. Yeah, and
I hold you get tickets because backthen it wasn't as insane as it is
now. Do you really want tohear this story. Yes, So I
am dying because my daughters really reallywanted to go to see Taylor Swift.
The ticket prices just kept going upand up and up, and I thought,

(01:25):
I don't know what I'm mean todo, and as a mom,
you're just like you want to makeall your kids dreams come true. But
for three thousand dollars a ticket?Sorry but um yeah, So I was
pulling out all the stops. Wewent to the dj X raffle at the
mall at Oxmore, Let's go.I was like, we're gonna win tickets.
Maybe I donated to some animal shelterin Cincinnati for a chance to win

(01:49):
two. I mean, I wasout of control, and it was just
keeping you up at night because you'relike, I'm going to disappoint my children.
Well I was. And then youstart figuring out, like you start
trying to figure out in your mind, like justifying that much money on a
ticket. I was like, well, we're not really doing a summer vacation,
and like they don't really need togo to college, and it's crazy

(02:10):
what your mind starts to think of. You know, yeah, they can
get jobs, yeah yeah, butanyway, no, I ended up having
I preach, shouldn't even say this, but I had a friend who works
for the um Bengals doing pr I'dstop right there. Yeah, I get
your friend in any trouble. That'sgood. So but you had to pay

(02:31):
something for you Yes, we didnot get free tickets. We got um
like regularly priced ticket. That's allwere amazing good. So but I saw
pictures to your two daughters and yourhusband, so you got four. How
did Chris do with it? Chriswas like, well, he wasn't.
He wasn't into it at first, and then he was like, well,

(02:51):
yeah, I kind of just wantto go for the experience of seeing the
girls, because you know, youget to a point where my girls are
now that next time Taylor Swift hasa concert or anybody big in a couple
of years, this might be thelast time they'll go with years, you're
gonna want me to go with Ican assure you that's true. Yeah,
So it was kind of like,oh gosh, we've really got to take
advantage of this and go. Andhe's certified swifty. Now, he's got

(03:15):
a favorite album. It's awesome,he's got some favorite songs. He wore
his twenty two shirt from the Redalbum and yeah, he had some friendship
bracelet trading going on. Well that'sa little bit much for me. I
wasn't gonna do all that. Yeah, it was a good time. That's
great. I'm so glad that workedout all right. So you and I
worked many years. We did GreatDay Live together. Sometimes you would come

(03:36):
in and fill in when Rachel wasout. Rachel was usually in jail,
you know on Monday. Yeah,it's always out driving like a crazy person,
speeding and they'd pull her over andlock her up and we'd have to
go get her out. And youknow, Kelsey get in there and do
Great Day Live. Having to fillin on a Monday, we can't get
a judge to sign the release papersfor Rachel till eleven o'clock. But you
worked for Kaet now and I hearthere's a new show, that's right.

(04:00):
I when I left WHAS in twentysixteen, I started working for Kaet freelancing
and I did a show called NewsQuiz. I still do it, it's
for kids, and then I wentI guess last summer they approached me at
Kaet and said, hey, wouldyou be interested in coming back full time

(04:20):
to work for us, and youknow, and you said, I'll take
it another condition, you'll give meTaylor Swift tickets. Yeah, that's what
it was. Yeah, so itwas a good deal. No, I
did you know. I wasn't lookingto get back into TV full time at
all, but they said, wereally want to develop this news show all

(04:40):
about Louisville and really grow our presencethere, and I thought, gosh,
that is the opportunity of a lifetime. That's what I've always wanted to do,
is just be able to tell cool, interesting stories. And you know,
in news it's all about which nothingwrong with it, but you know,
you get a SoundBite with some andyou have to tell the story in

(05:01):
a minute and a half. Andwith this show, I am getting to
tell a thirty minute story about aninteresting person or a place in Louisville.
And I just love it and it'sbeen really interesting. It starts this Sunday,
that's right. It premieres this Sundayat noon. I k et statewide,
e too, statewide. Yeah, and you know, it gives us

(05:23):
a chance to tell Louisville's stories tothe rest of the state, which I
think is really important. I thinkLouisville gets a bad rap sometimes and these
are really interesting, cool, inspirationalstories. I was on your website and
I saw there was a mention ofan entrepreneur story that's pretty fascinating, which
is wild. I was astounding.I've met that guy before and someone tied

(05:45):
the music. I don't know ifyou want to release names or not.
Yeah, sure, we have TeddyAbrams coming up this Sunday. And then
Dan Oliver from dan O's seasoning. He's the guy. Yeah, he has
a great story. And we havechef Edward Lee. Oh yeah, I
got fantastic. He just do thedinner for a White House, a state

(06:09):
dinner at the White House. Talkabout some pressure. No, well,
you know what was so funny whenI talked to him, I said,
let's talk about your nerves for that? Was that crazy? What do you
think when you get that call? And he said, well, I just
kind of thought it was another dinner. I didn't really realize what a big
deal it was until people started, you know, reiterating like, oh my

(06:29):
gosh, this is a big deal, and he was like, gosh,
I guess it is, and so, uh, yeah it was. It
was amazing. But the thing aboutkind of the thing that's gone through a
bunch of these guests, like withChef Lee or Teddy Abrams. There are
people who you know, visited Louisville, fell in love with Louisville, decided
to stay here and invest in ourcommunity and lift up Louisville to a place.

(06:55):
I mean, Louisville's like a foodytown. A lot of that has
to do with Cheff Lee. WhatTeddy Abrams is done with the Louisville Orchestra
is incredible. And just when thesepeople have the drive and passion for what
they do, they lift us allup for being a part of the community
and it's just inspirational. So doyou go to their homes and meet their
families or how does it work?Well? They usually they've been coming to

(07:17):
our studio. Some we did TeddyAbrams in his home. We met Cheff
Lee in his new restaurant, Nami. Oh, so that was cool,
but we didn't really get to Iwas hoping we'd get to taste the food.
But anyway, you know how thatworks for us in TV, lots
of times they'll bring in and it'sjust stage food, right, It's not

(07:38):
really for human consumption because it's beendecorated and varnished and all this growling.
When you're talking, you're looking atit and it's like, don't eat that
because there's varney shot. It's likeair spray. Yeah, so no,
I'm gonna have to go and actuallypay for the food. But yeah,
so it's it's been really interesting sofar. And they you know, we

(07:59):
have forty yet episodes for our firstseason, which sounded very daunting. It
is, yes, forty episodes. And when they first told me that,
I was like, oh my gosh, that's going to be so difficult.
But you know, the more youthink about the stories that are here,
I got a list like three timesthat length now of people I want to
talk to, and Terry Miners isone of them. I met him one

(08:22):
time. Yeah, great guy.Yeah, I've heard a few stories I'm
hoping to confirm. Okay, good, Well this is great. So it's
called Inside Louisville. It starts thisSunday and runs every Sunday. That's right,
every Sunday at noon, eleventh Centralstatewide and kind of a different topic
for every week. We'll talk tointeresting people. We also have a couple

(08:45):
episodes just on places, one onWaterfront Park, coming on, you'll learn
the history of that we're hoping todo the Frasier History Museum of course,
and what everything that's going on there. And so I think it's a great
opportunity for us to kind of tellthese stories and for people who have never
been here, but also for peoplewho are maybe native Louivillians. I think

(09:07):
you're going to learn something you reallyare, Like, for instance, Waterfront
Park, if you can find photosof what that looked like with spread scrap
metal junk, I mean, itwas just back in the day when I
guess barges would come by us throwit over there, that's right. And
what it's become now and what thefuture plans for it are, it's really
incredible. So I really I'm excitedfor everybody to learn a little something about

(09:30):
their hometown or if you're not fromhere. It's you know, it's the
biggest city in the state. We'vegot a lot going on. Are you
sure you don't miss getting up atone o'clock in the morning to go on
and do the Good morning Kentucky? And guarantee, it took me about half
a day to get used to notliking into am. Yeah, that panic
you feel when you do those morningshows and you wake up a little late

(09:54):
and you're like, oh gosh,it is and you know, you don't
realize how grueling that is until youstop op really because you're just kind of
in the groove and uh yeah, and then after you're like, how did
I do that for so long? But it was a good time. Good
a good time always is Kelsey Starksgreat? Seeing you again. People can

(10:15):
find you on social media under yourname, that's right, Kelsey k Starks
on most platforms. And then we'vegot a new Instagram for inside Louisville,
which is k et in lou Youcan follow the show and all the behind
the scenes kind of fun stuff.Oh count me in. Yeah. On
the great see Again pe to seeyou think? All right? Coming right
back here on news radio Wait fortyw h s.
