Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's bring in the mayor of the city in Louisville.
His name is Craig Greenberg, mister mayor, and fun.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Right, that's right. I'm no international space station.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Dude. I what in the world. You know these people
that talk about also Craig going to Mars, they say, okay,
you can sign up here and it's a one way
ticket to Mars. When we decide we're going to populate Mars,
you never come back. It's like, dude, not for me.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, a plane is high enough for me, Terry.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
That's that's it, all right, all right. We've got a
busy weekend here in Louisville. I know that tonight We've
got racing. Louisville is in a big game against number
one Kansas City. This is huge. And in Low City
they got North Carolina in a top four battle this weekend.
So we got a lot of fun stuff going on.
But I heard you this morning with Nick Coffee talking
about running at the airport. I love this concept.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, well, you know, Terry, I'd love to run. And
it's kept me not just physically fit, but so mentally
healthy in this job that I have, which has been
been wonderful and so We put together the New Planet
Fitness Mayrathon series and we have four runs. This is
a second year of doing it, and I wanted to
try to do new things to like give people experiences
of all whether you're walking or running, competing or just

(01:18):
enjoying the day with your family, to give people an
opportunity to do something different. And I had this idea,
wouldn't it be super cool to literally run the runway,
And so that's what we're doing. Bowmenfield is closing down
tomorrow morning for an hour or so and at nine
o'clock at Bowmen Field, we are going to be having
a race on the runway. It's not five k, but

(01:38):
it's five point zero two k and in honor of Louisville.
It's going to be a lot of fun. And again
you can walk with last year we had people with stoulders,
we had people that brought their dogs, I think, but
or if you want to try to race and have
a personal record, it's a great time too. But it's
going to be a lot of fun. And unlike earlier
this week when it was hot as can be on
the hills of Iroquois Park, when I was running with

(01:59):
kids and the police actor every league. I think it's
gonna be a nice, cool morning on a flat surface. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Well that's the thing about a runway. There's no tree shade,
there's no nothing, so you're exposed. Luckily, the weather's great.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yes, it's gonna be perfect and it's really cool. We
also have another one cut. We have got three more
coming up. The last one is going to be a
brand new run. We're partnering with the University of Louisville
and we're gonna have a fun run throughout the entire
u of L Sports complex and campus.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I think that's fantastic. So people can just show up
tomorrow Bowmanfield and they have to go to some website
and sign up in advance.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Well, you can sign up online at the mayorthon online,
but you can also show up tomorrow anytime before nine am.
That's when it'll start.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yeah, that's such a great asset. A lot of people
don't realize the value in having Bowman Field as a
relief valve from the big airport because so many other
things can happen over there, and then if you only
have one airport, you're gonna have a nightmare on your
hands if something.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Goes that's right. And then also when you have things
like the Derby, I mean that that is incredibly important
as we're bringing people in from around the country, whether
it's the Derby, Bourbon and Beyond, Louder than Life or
the PGA Championship, it's really helpful for those big events
as well.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
I'm gonna have to mosey over to Bowmen Field for
this tomorrow. Now. Also, something else you mentioned this morning.
I had no idea. Maybe you were joking. Do you
really own like an old school street rod car or
a Cadillac or something from way back in the day.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I do, tererry. I've got a nineteen seventy four Cadillac
Eldado convertible. It's white with red leather. It still has
an eight track. I own two eight tracks, oh my
ac DC back in black and an Elvis one. And
it's a lot of fun. I don't drive it nearly
as much as I used to, but I had one

(03:44):
when I was in high school, and I not too
long ago got one. My Rachel and I and the
boys really enjoyed it, and so it's been a lot
of fun. But I don't bring it out as much
as i'd like to.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Know ac DC Back in Black is one of the
great albums of all time.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
It is.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I liked it. I like that your ears bent in
that direction. Now, why in the world is that not
your official mayoral vehicle? When you would show up to something,
people would turn their heads.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Well, you know, I probably I probably should have done
that from the very beginning. I should have campaigned with it.
You know. Part of the reason is I think it
gets about seven miles to the gallon. I'm not the handiest,
unlike the people that are going to be out at
the Street Right show this weekend here in Louisville. I
really don't know. I'm not the best fixer upper of cars.

(04:31):
So you know, when you have a fifty year old car,
it breaks often, things leak, and that just means I'm
driving it, and honestly, it's hard to get There are
fewer folks that even know how to fix it these days.
I've had trouble finding mechanics to work on it. So
but it's been fun.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Was this a family hand me down or where did
this car originate?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
eBay, No, I knew when I wanted I just always
loved it. I don't know if it was because I
don't know why, but when I was in high school
I had one, and about ten years ago or more,
I thought it'd be fun to drive the boys around
in the park or just have it as you know,
a little hobby. And so I literally went on eBay
and bought it, and it got shipped to my house

(05:14):
and that's where it's been.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
I just love the picture of you rolling down the road,
jamming out.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I'm gonna text you a picture, Terry. Feel free to post.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
I want to see it. I want to see the
car because I think it should be our official mayor mobile.
Don't be fantastic. I just love the whole.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
All right.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I know you're busy. I just wanted to pick your
brain about the car because I didn't know if you
were kidding Nick or not this morning. But that no,
that's Alloisville treasure that needs to be more publicized. I appreciate,
and I'm like you, dude, I never learned how to
do anything other than change my oil. If the de
Flamy go sideways, I got nothing. I got to call
a guy who's got a real toolbox. That's right, Thank you,

(06:04):
thank you.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
I have a wonderful weekend. Ill I forward to coming
in and talking about all the things we're working on
as well. Here.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, please do you go drop by anytime. You're always
welcome here. Mayor Thanks, that's mayor thank. That's our mayor
here in the city of Louisville, who apparently knows a
gangster lead from the nineteenth seventies with a big mean
Cadillac and he's jamming ac DC rolling down for Itstown Road. Oh,

(06:30):
that's how he won over Rachel. That's how he. I
forgot to ask, that's what won over Rachel. Well, that's
for the next conversation we have. And get out to
Bowmenfield tomorrow because that's a cool thing to do. It's
a rarity. You know, an airport is federal property. It's
controlled by the federal government, and so you can't get
out there and walk on that kind of thing often

(06:52):
without special permission. So tomorrow is a very unique opportunity
to get out, get on the runway and just see
how that is. That's pretty fantastic. Tomorrow morning, nine o'clock.
