Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ways say, big guy, always good talking to you, my friend.
You do provide me all so many great services. I
know you've helped with fire department over the years, and
you know you're you're a good friend of first responders
over and over again. But if you'd called me and said, Terry,
somebody's breaking into the police chief's house, you and I
would have rolled over there and set that situation straight
right away.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I would say that if I better not say what
I'm want to say. No, don't curge, don't wait, because
I think I chief eat him up and do him away.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
There you go. That's what we do, Jim. I saw
a press release that's I either prepped or coming out
soon that says you, the legendary Jim graven Are Dare
I even say it out loud, retiring? I don't believe
this for a minute.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
That's what I heard. Gunner gonna put the woods to me.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
His son is Gunner. Steepleton is the business, the famous
Steepleton Company in on Lane in Saint Matthew's your son, Gunner,
your daughter Allison. They're going to take charge there. But
what's the history on this company? Doesn't this go back
beyond one hundred years.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yes, I'm moving one hundred plus shows or years one.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Hundred plus years, yeah, yeah, over one hundred years on there?
Do I hear Miss Jane off there to the side?
Is that? Who I hear your angel?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Do you want to take the show?
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Terry Minors?
Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's good, it's great hearing your voice as always. You
two have been so good for this city for so long,
and I know the company goes back a long, long way,
so this is an interesting time for the two of
you to step back and then let the kids run Steepleton.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
You've got that light and Terry, you have said so
many nice things about Jim. He is lost for words.
I'm gonna have to get the mop bucket at and
a cry town.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Well, you know, he's helped me with a lot of
things over the years, and I know he's he's one
of those tough guys who like if he'll see a
car in a ditch, he'll pull over in his truck
and try to push the car out of the ditch
himself without calling for help. Okay, I know. And then
(02:29):
whenever it snows, I'll drive around somewhere and then I'll
see him and the other people in the Steepleton trucks
because you're plowing snow away all the time. You guys
are always you gave it.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Up, it's too old.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
No, he did give it up. He just did give
it up here. Yes, he did it for years and.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Years though, I know, because we have the snowyiest December
in the history of Louisville, I think. Anyway, just to
let people know in case they see something, we just
want to let people know that Steepleton is doing great.
And your son and daughter are gonna take charge there, Jane,
is that it?
Speaker 3 (03:10):
And plus my employees, yes, plus the employees. Jim, he
just loves them to death. He just loves them to death.
Carry and it's just a big family group. Even though
they're not related, you know, they're part of us. Well.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
It's fantastic because I know to drive by and if
I see Jim's truck there, I know to pull in
there and say hi. And then one time I pulled
in there to bring something to him, and I parked
in his space and as soon as I walked in
the door of the woman in there said, oh my god,
move your car. If he sees your car in his space,
(03:50):
he'll just push it out. Of the way with his
truck with a grill.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
I have a talk with her in the morning. She
allowed it. That's that's that's.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
No Workain exactly right. Well, anyway, I just want to
call and acknowledge you guys for this, this great bit
of service that you've done for so long in this city.
It's just greatly appreciated. People love the Graven family and
continued success with Steepleton. Now that the next generation is
taking over, they're going to win.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Thank you, Terry for your nice comment.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
As always. All right, I'll see at the grocery store Jane.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Okay, all right, jimmy boy, good talk to you. I
just I just want to I just want to tell
you one thing. Thank you for what you do with
the Crusde. Is this fantastic.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Well, I appreciate that's very kind of you. All Right,
We'll see you guys soon. Take care.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
That's the Graven family. Jim, Big Jim. He's a big
tough guy. He's you know, coaching and he's part of
the fire departments all throughout the community. And then obviously
Jane and the family have been handling the Steepleton business
for so long here. But just a letter but I
know Steepleton is just running into the next generation, and
so I just want to say hi to Jim publicly,
(05:10):
cause he's been awfully good to us over the years
as well. All Right, we'll step aside. Back Sports is
