Speaker 1 (00:00):
Terry Miners here. Returning to the studio is Nate Morris.
He is running for the United States Senates. Hi, Nate,
welcome back. Well, thank you, Terry. It's great to be
with you. Great to be back. What's happened?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Yeah, since I was with your listeners and with you,
so got a lot to report.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Well, the last time you were here, we weren't quite
sure you had announced officially. And then when I met
you earlier this year, you and your lovely wife were
telling me you were about to become a family, have
a baby.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Update me.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, Well, my son was born two weeks ago and
he's a junior, so I'm very proud of that.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
We're gonna call him Jr. Awesome.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Everybody's healthy, Mom's doing great, and he's the best kid.
And it's been a it's a transformative experience becoming a parent.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
You know.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I've been married thirteen years, Terry, and we're very blessed
that he came into our life, and it's it's been
an incredible experience.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
So can't describe it.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
It's not fair to the women who give birth, but
lots of times the dad gets to hold them first.
I did, Yeah, I did, I did. I felt terrible
about it. But with both of my sons, and then
you get the whispers something in their ear right away,
I love you, I'm your daddy, We're going to be
best friends.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Yeah it was, it was. It was such a special experience.
But yeah, I got to hold them first. And but
but it was a terrific, terrific moment. But don't you
feel that too when you become a parent. Doesn't some
new like radar system kick on people and you feel
this love you've never known. Oh, it's it's unbelievable. And
and it also connects you deeper to your faith, and

(01:40):
you appreciate your parents how they felt.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
There's no doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
And I don't think I realized how much my mother
worried and how much she thought about me all the time.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Like I'm like I do JR. So just wait till JR.
Is sneaking out when he's twelve years old. We got
a long way to go, Sara, You've got all the
fun stuff of you. Well, congratulations, all right, So the campaign,
I've seen a lot of announcements come out yours and
then others have said, well about designate once, why he

(02:11):
when his company had a DNI policy. And so how's
it feel to be in the rough and tumble of
the campaign?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Now, look, it's a full contact sport politics. I mean, Terry,
you know, I was in the trash business. I mean,
that's about the roughest business you can be in. That's
a soprano industry.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
That's right. But politics is tough.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
And I look, I knew what I was signing up for,
but that's the price you paid a lead, and you've
got to go through that process. And I think we've
been able to showcase a message to Kentuckian's and introduce
ourselves and I'm really proud of the way that we've
come out of the gate.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
We've rolled out.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
You may recall we announced on Don Junior's podcast. Right
when we made the announcement that we're getting into the
US Senate race to replace Mitch McConnell. We were fortune
that Charlie Kirk came to town. We were right here in
Shepherdsville making that announcement and kicking off the campaign, and
we had over fifteen hundred people show up for that,

(03:12):
which was fantastic.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
This was on the good gets.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, these are This is right before fourth of July,
you know, ten am in the morning, and getting to
be out there with Charlie and announce and getting his
endorsement was was really terrific and a great way to start.
And I think it shows Kentuckians and I think it
shows the country where we stand and how we're aligned
with the president and what kind of senator we're going

(03:36):
to be.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Donald Trump Junior. Of course, obviously that's a huge get
for you. You told me before that you've met President Trump,
but you're your buddy's with the vice president too, are
you know?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
The Vice president's a dear friend and he's been very
encouraging about the race. And I'm very fortunate to meet
him before he became the vice president and the JD
advance we knew from hill Billy elogy. But I'm really
proud of him and very inspired by him. And he's
showed that as an outsider and a business person when

(04:09):
he came to the Senate, you can shake things up
and make a big impact. And I think he's going
to be one of our great vice presidents. I think
he's already off to a terrific start, and he's saying
things that need to be said and need to be
talked about. And I think he's engaging with the press,
and I think he's also engaging with our voters and
the citizens of this country in a way intellectually that

(04:31):
we didn't see with our previous vice president. So I'm
really proud of the way that he's leading, in the
way that he's stepping up to serve with President Trump.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
It's not trivial to point to a Donald Trump president
Donald Trump endorsement. I saw a piece on Fox News
a couple of days ago that had your picture on
the left. That's the dominant position.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Oh is that right?

Speaker 1 (04:52):
That's the way Okay, the English reading eye goes left. Yeah, yeah,
that does make sense. Yeah, well, then you lucked out
with whoever's putting the front. Then they had Andy Barr
in the middle and Daniel Cameron on the right. Those
are your opponents on this Republican primary, and people are
going to keep asking you, So I am too, is
the Donald Trump president Donald Trump endorsement must have to

(05:15):
win this race?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Well?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I think Donald Trump has an incredible track record at
picking winners, and I think his endorsement is a game
changer for any race that he's a part of, and
that's a testament to the President's leadership, his iconic brand
in business and in politics what it means, and he
has a great sense for these things about where these

(05:37):
races go. But you can never predict. The President does
exactly what he wants to do when he wants to
do it. And we're going to continue to run a
great campaign, and I think to show that we're aligned
with the MAGA agenda. And I think the people that
we have around us, you know, getting the endorsement from
someone like Charlie Kirk, I think is a strong signal

(05:58):
about how we line up with the MAGA agenda. And
then I also think Terry, we've had two tremendous endorsements
and Senator Bernie Marino from Ohio, who's been one of
the key America first fighters for the president, and also
Senator Jim Banks from Indiana, and I think that's a
real testament to how we're stacking up in this race
and what kind of leader we're going to be, God

(06:21):
willing we're elected to the US Senate.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
We're speaking with Nate Morris, businessman here in Kentucky who's
running for the US Senate in a Republican primary comes
up next spring. The website's Natemorris dot com. You brought
up Senator Marino, he's in Ohio. Last weekend in Cincinnati,
there was a lot of rough stuff that went on
in the streets, and a lot of people are online
and they're raging about it, and other people are mocking it. Well,

(06:47):
the senator from Ohio who had just endorsed you, had
strong words about the policing and the response to that.
So I don't know how much you know about that
particular story and how you feel about what transpired in
the streets and then the reaction from law enforcement and
city leaders in Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Well, Terry, it was appalling to see what happened. That
you see.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
This lady get punched by a grown man, getting punched
in the face.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
And have you seen her photos? I mean, she's a
tiny person, a little bit. Have you seen the photos
of her will?

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Oh my gosh, it's disgusting to see. And you may
have seen a post that I made on X shortly
after that happened, and questioning that if the races were
reversed with the media, and I think authorities at that
level of police made the comments that they made and
responded the way they did, and I would say no,

(07:45):
I would I think this is an example of hypocrisy.
I think this is political correctness run a muck, and
we've seen this over and over again and people are
tired of it and frustrated with it. And I think
this is an example of again of people with political
correctness going way too far. And again I would encourage

(08:05):
your listeners. I've been very active about this issue on
x talking about this issue. I just released a op
ed that's that's on Fox News right now about this,
and I think this is one of many examples that
we've seen that we have to call out this hypocrisy.
We have to say what it is. It's racism, and
it needs to be addressed, and it doesn't need to

(08:26):
be swept under the rug by the police chief and
making a mockery of justice and giving these these folks
a free pass.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, when forty people respond to some person who I
guess that I don't know who initiated what. The Cincinnati
police chief went on and on about how well social
media is not fair because it takes things out of context.
Anybody that punches a little woman like that in the
face and gives her wounds like we're seeing now. I mean,
that's that's not a response to anything other than insane.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
And there's no excuse for that. There is no other
side of the story. And I think that's what's so
frustrating to people that are hearing this rhetoric. And again,
it's a sign of political correctness going too far. And
we see this now in every facet of life. And
I believe that's one of the key reasons why Donald
Trump was elected is that America's had enough of this

(09:15):
crap and they're finally standing up and say enough is enough.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
We've mentioned your opponents, so you need to separate yourself
from them. The current representative and District six is Andy Barr.
He's running for this seat as well as as well
as the former Attorney General Daniel Cameron. Why are you
the superior candidates for this Republican nomination?

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Well, Sarah, if you think back to when we were
last together in May, I was considering the race, and
the more and more I looked at this race. You know,
I've never run for office before. I'm not a politician.
I came out of the waste management industry. I built
a business starting with ten thousand dollars on a credit card,
took it public on the New York Stock Exchange at
two billion dollars. And I saw the two people in

(10:03):
the race and Andy Barn Daniel Cameron, and I said,
both these guys are puppets for Mitch McConnell, that if
either one of them get in that office, they're going
to be more of the same for Mitch. And I
think Kentucky's had enough of Mitch, Washington's had enough of Mitch,
the President's had enough of Mitch, and it's time for
a clean break terry. These career politicians, like these two guys,

(10:25):
career politicians, have run our country off a cliff, and
we cannot continue to send more of the same back
in these leadership positions because we haven't gotten a great result.
We've ended up in wars we shouldn't be in. We've
got death that's through the roof that we don't know
how we're going to pay back. We continue to make
all these nonsensical choices and compromise our values in principles

(10:49):
with Democrats, and we shouldn't be doing those things. And
Mitch McConnell's done this over and over again. And I
think most disturbing is that you have a place like
Kentucky where President Trump carried this state by thirty points,
and Mitch McConnell has the nerve to go up there
and vote against the President's nominees over and over again
and continue to sabotage him at every chance he gets.

(11:11):
And so I said, Terry, I got to get in
this race. I don't have a choice because we've got
to have something totally different. We've got to have somebody
that's not a career politician. And I think that's why
my friend Bernie Marino, he's been so successful from Ohio.
He's been a great inspiration in a lot of ways.
And see how he's led early on in his Senate term.
And I think America is hungry for change in something different.

(11:34):
I think that's why they elected Donald Trump. That's why
people like JD. Vance, and I think that's why we're
going to win this race.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
If you have a couple more minutes, sit tight, and
we'll come back here.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Sure is that? All right?

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Nate Morris is running for the seat that's to be
vacated by Mitch McConnell in twenty twenty six. All Right,
Paul Miles thanks a ton. Nate Morris still in the studio.
He is a candidate for the United States Senate and
the Republican primary next spring. Nate, thanks for giving a
little extra time here today.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Of course, it's great to be with you.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Let me guess we're going to find you on Saturday
at Fancy Farm the picnic.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
That's right. It's a Kentucky tradition. There's nothing like it, Terry.
As you know, this is the super Bowl of Kentucky politics.
So we're heading down to western Kentucky and I'm excited.
I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
You're not a politician. You've seen this, no doubt before.
So have you looked at YouTube videos to prep for this?
What's the deal? Well, I've certainly seen what not to do.

(12:32):
I remember the famous Jack Conway gaff. You remember that
one along time? That's right, and certainly I'm excited to
get some of the mutton barbecue two here. They sell
out early, so we're going to get there early, in
line and get our sandwich.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
So the thing about Fancy Farm is you have to
get a good line or two in and then let
the crowd laugh and then come back with another and
then that's going to be the sound bite that sticks
with you. Are you properly prepared? I think I think
we're gonna do a good job, Terry.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I think we got We've got a really terrific uh
speech put together, and uh, we're gonna tell it like
it is. We're gonna have some fun and and really
showcase this race in a way that nobody's talked about
politics this way in Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
And I think it's it's going to be exciting for folks.
Who determines the order of speakers. I think we're gonna
flip for that. Okay, that's my understanding.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Saint Jerome told us that we flip for who goes
first and who goes last.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
So what's your preference?

Speaker 2 (13:33):
You know, wherever they put me, Terry, it's it's gonna
be a lot of fun. We're gonna have fun with.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
It, yeah, because you know, I've been on enough stages
over the years to know, like, if it's a bunch
of comedians, I want to go first. I want to
go ahead of them, and then that way they they
have their back there changing their notes because you've already
said something that they're going that they were playing on
saying I mean that that to me is a good
spot in comedy. So there's gonna be you know, you

(13:59):
guys are deal with a different sort of a thing,
but you do get a couple of good licks in here.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, you know, it's quite a roast. I mean, people
ask me what is Fancy Farm? And the great thing
about it is it does a great thing for Saint
Jrum's Paris. It's a fundraiser, so it's a wonderful Kentucky tradition.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
It goes to a great cause.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
But the political side of this, it's a roast and
sometimes it gets pretty spicy, as you know. And there's
been a lot of memorable moments. And I'm interested also
to see who shows up. I hope Senator McConnell shows up.
It'd be great to have him there and people to
engage with him live on the stage.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Yes, you're no fan of his, So what happens if
Senator McConnell comes over to shake your hand? Do you
ignore him or do you you greet him?

Speaker 3 (14:40):
What do you do? Well?

Speaker 2 (14:41):
I think maybe I go to some of those jokes
that you're talking about. You do have some of those ready, Yeah,
maybe maybe one or two.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Well, you're gonna I think people play nice when they
get on stage, but the governor's not going to be there.
This is essentially a Republican event now because because the
woman running on the Democrat side for this seat that
you would like is not coming. She's going with some
Demora that's my understanding. I think it's it's all republican
this time. Yeah, and I think Basheer's not coming. So

(15:13):
how do you know that your jokes are better than
those that will be delivered by Andy Barr and Daniel Cameron?

Speaker 2 (15:18):
You know, as you know, the best comedy terry always
has truth in it that's true, and people know it
when they hear it, right, And I think people are
They're going to be pleased with us telling the truth.
And that's what this campaign's been all about, is that
we've got a message for the future about where Kentucky
needs to go.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
We need a clean break for Mitch McConnell.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
We don't need career politicians and we don't need two
McConnell puppets stepping into the seat. We've had enough of
McConnell and he's let us down and he's let down
the country and both these guys are owned by Mitch
and they owe everything to Mitch McConnell, and we can't
have more of that.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
And you're going to be asking us over and over again,
are you gonna limit yourself to so many terms? Because
they're saying Mitch has been there for forty years. Andy
Parter has been in office for a long time. Daniel
Cameron has been the Attorney general in the past. Is
there a limitation? Is there a number in your mind?

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Well, Terrry, I'm for term limits. I think two terms
in a seat like this at the United States Senators
is more than enough to get things done. And I
think if you can't get something done after two terms,
you ought to go home anyway. I think that should
be enough time for anybody. And it was enough for
George Washington to say I'm going to do my two
terms and go back to Mount Vernon.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Makes sense. The tariff deadline is at midnight. How well
do you think this has worked? I know that India
is bulking right now. Donald Trump talked about kicking up
to twenty five, but it looks like some other people
have come to church. Japan, you know, some others have
The European Union some others have said, okay, so is

(16:54):
it in the right place now? Is it where you
expected it to be.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Well, it's no surprise that we're having this success we
are with President Trump. When you've got a deal maker,
you've got a business person, you've got an outsider working
these deals and negotiating and getting things done. This is
the kind of result you get. And America is winning
like never before. And the tariffs, I believe for Kentucky,
what it means is we're leveling the playing field for

(17:19):
the American worker. For far too long, the American worker
has been ripped off by all these foreign countries and
we haven't gotten.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Anything for it.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
They've taken advantage of our labor, they've taken advantage of
our economy, all these foreign countries. And finally President Trump
has the courage, has the ability to stand up like
no one's stood up from the office of the Presidency
in a way to fight for the American worker. And
I think this is what this is all about. And
the revenue that's coming in is so significant and so substantial,

(17:48):
and I think we're going to continue to build on
this success and it's fantastic for the American economy.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Congratulations again on your fatherhood. At least get my best
thank life and kiss that baby. That's the best part
of life, that's for sure. We'll talk again down the road.
Sounds great, Sarah. It's great to be with you. Nate
