Speaker 1 (00:01):
Oh, I am loving this. I am absolutely loving this.
I'm trying to find a Tony Vannetti photo in my laptop,
so I typed in Vannetti and then he's here are
some of the entries that I have listed. Tony Vannetti
hate Letter twenty eighteen. Let's see Tony Vannetti acting a
(00:27):
fool at a company meeting. That's gonna I have so
many choices from which to choose. And then I tried
to tag Tony Vinetti on Facebook, on the Facebook machine,
but apparently he defriended me or unfriended me, so I
put him on. Let's get Vannetti on the air, ladies, gentlemen,
he's got good news.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Hey, buddy, how are you doing. You're not alone? You're
not alone. I blocked Dwight Whitney is my hill Mark.
I look, I've blocked the people I liked because I
don't want to be you know, I don't. I want
to like you forever, So I blocked my friends.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I am I'm going to use the photo of you
and me eating the ice creams at the crusade for children.
I love that picture of us.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Awesome, yeah, awesome, Yeah, So I.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Can congratulate here. Let me, Tony, let me make the
announcement for you. I don't want you to have to
do that. Ladies and gentlemen, just announced the twenty twenty
four Trinity High School Hall of Fame Induction ceremony coming
up later this year, includes our guy, Tony Vannetti. Proud
of you, buddy, Thank you man, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's been a long haul. And you know, you and
I used to have these conversations ten years ago or
so we're like, we look at each other and go, yeah,
we're never getting entertain as pretty office. You're not gonna
let us in. You're not gonna let us in. You
had yours? Was it last year? You? Last year? Right
before last year? So yeah, so Charney Partner went, damn it,
we got to give an Eddian. If Miners is next,
(02:00):
we gotta get We gotta squeeze Benettie in there. But yes,
it's humbling though, I mean, after all these years, it
really is to think that they think that much of
us to uh, to put us in the Hall of Fame.
But you know what, I don't cry because I'm a cyborg,
but I cried a little bit. It was it was
kind of an emotional thing here.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Well, I was told here. I was in the studio
and a representative of the st X told me, and
no one was around. Ian was down the hallway or whatever,
and I walked out and Haley Hansen said what's wrong?
And I said, I need a hug Because I did.
It made me feel like jelly too. It was like, wow,
this is really something. So anyway, congratulations, you're going in
(02:38):
with a great class too, Tony.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yes, yes, Coach Bryant, so real quick if you got
to say so, Coach Bryant is in there, and Coach
Aberley he's in this class. Coach Bryant used to he
taught biology and he was the quarterbacks coach. Okay, yep.
So I had to deal with my buddy Chuck that
if either one of us fell asleep in his biology class,
that the other one would kind of nudge him in case,
(03:00):
you know, there was they were gonna call on this
or do whatever. So my friend would stabotage me every
once in a while, and he'd get the coaches, get
Coach Bryant's attention and uh, and he would go toty sleeping,
toty sleeping, So Coach Biant would go over you know
how you have that little body sliced in half of biology.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
It's oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
He used to pull out the plastic brain and then
he'd tell the other kids to move out, and then
he'd fire the brain in and hit me and wake
me up with the brain and goes, well, I'm throwing
a brain at you because you ain't got one. That
was my relationship. But I love Coach Bryant and going
in with all those guys. Those men are it's an
incredible honor. And a lot of those guys were mentors
(03:38):
buying when I was there, so it matters.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah, it's it's just fun to do that. I mean,
and your love for the school is obvious. So I'm
glad that they're they're recognizing that.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yes, yes, So I don't think they know this yet,
but I do have a I'm gonna have a little
table for SATANX guys because you know, I got you know,
you got if you can there, you got to be there.
Will Woolford's got to be you know, I got Rich
Lecklider from Catholic Education Foundations got to be there. So
I don't know they'll be when I label at the
Saint XT table. It might not be good.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Well, that's the thing, is like when I was insane, X,
we love There are a bunch of guys we had
who are our buddies, who would run with from the
other school. Nobody cared about that stuff. It's when you're
playing each other in football or any other sport. Really
you're all like in their face. But other than that,
you don't care. We all love each other.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
There's no doubt about it. It is a great honor.
And you know how much you and I get back
to those schools. And I don't ever question it because
it's so important to what I mean, if you think
about how important a young man's life between fourteen and
eighteen is, it is it's everything. So it's somebody else
in your ear except for your old man, and it's important.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
There's no doubt about it. And you know, I'm just
happy for you because we always tease you. We always
say we don't understand how you ever got a diploma,
but it has to be ceremonial. But but uh, your
your love of the school is deep and you're you're
always there for them, and I'm happy for you. And
I did post the deal on social media, and I
(05:08):
hope that's okay.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Well, since you know what you blocked me, you won't
see it. I'm just telling you it's there.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
I'll unblock you for a second, look at it and
then block you.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Oh my, And you know you have to you have
to give a speech, don't you, Ben Eddie.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Oh yeah, oh oh yeah, oh yeah yeah yeah. They said,
they go, you got three to five minutes. I go,
good luck with that.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
That was it.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
That's not happening.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
And they made me go last. That's the other thing.
And there's some hardship in that because all the other
inductees go ahead of you and they say certain things.
You're like, well, that's struck that off my list. I
don't want to be repeating, right oh.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, yeah, yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, I'll, i'll.
There's too many people to thank, and especially in the
room and the teachers, mostly the teachers, because look the
building Indian Saint X are just building. There's brick and mortar.
It's the people inside, you know, And it's the teachers
and the mentors and the disciplinarians, especially the Saint X guys.
They got all those flag A brothers coming over there
beating the crap out of you all the time. That's
(06:12):
truck when you went there. But it was it's about
the teachers, it's about the mentors. It's not about and
the facilities are fantastic, there's nothing better than the Saint
x Attorney facilities. But it's about the people inside for sure.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
But they are they're great guys. I mean our dads were,
you know, they were our disciplinarians at home. But dude,
I was just as scared as the people at school. Well,
because you just knew if you stepped out of line,
they would always say to you, we don't need you here.
You want to be uh a wiseacre. We don't need you.
We got fourteen other people to take care seat tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Right. That is so funny because that's exactly they set
the barlow for all of its like we don't really
need you here. Keep grab asking and you're out of here.
Uh So it is it's what we needed at the time.
The faculty, that's the student body at the time, which
was you know, still both schools were blue collar. They
were sons of of ge and Ford and and working
(07:06):
out at Fort Knox and all those guys, and it
was you know, everyone and this is you and I.
He gets on a nerve. Everybody believes if you go
to those schools, you're rich. I missed that train, I
missed that boat. I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah,
it's the sacrifice.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah, our parents, that's what they decided. They wanted to
make a sacrifice. Some people buy a boat, some people,
you know, have a cabin at the lake whatever it is,
and and other people say, I want my kids in
these schools. And of course I worked after school every day.
You did too, That's how we paid for it.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Absolutely so yep, that's exactly how you do it. Yep,
that's exactly right. So, yeah, it's a heck of an
honor terry. And I was glad. I was glad the
next year because when you got in, I was like, damn,
I'm never getting in. And then but now you know,
it's always a competition. Trinity. I'm happy and it's one
for the regular guys.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Oh, I'm gonna have to add another photo now I'm
thinking about this. It's the one of you, me and
Demmling and you guys are making the Trinity teas and
I'm making the Saint X was. That was a Trinity game.
Another week where you guys beat us in football. We're
coming back, Benetti.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
God, yeah, sure, okay, I'll wait for it. You had
your little run there. We allowed you to have it.
We felt so sorry for you. Back to the Catholic
at the Jason's Foundation, pitched a couple of dollars in.
We threw the game, you know, and now we're like, okay,
we're taking it back from you boys at Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Looking forward to the game that's fall as always. Brother.
I love you, Tony, Congratulations.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
I love you, Terry Miners, Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
See you, brother. There's Tony Vannetti. He's our mid day host.
He and Dwight Wooden of course host the show in
the middays. Benetti being informed by Trinity High School today.
He is part of the class of twenty twenty four's
Hall of Fame inductions. They also include Dave Aberley class
seventy five, and he said coach Joe Bryant from seventy five,
Ken Conliffe from the class of sixty three. He served
(08:58):
admirably around here. Regmitri seventy seven, Scotch Center, He's a
legend too, and Venetti class of eighty seven. Oh my goodness,
c Ian. Apparently his diploma wasn't ceremonial wrong. Maybe it
was then, and they've just thought, well, I mean, he's
been around for so long. Congratulations venetti from all of
us here at iHeartRadio back in if you on news
