To help fund the University of Kentucky's football NIL bag, Lexington's Bespoken Spirits offers Club Blue Bourbon.

"The White Label ($39.99) bottle originates from a Kentucky high-rye barrel-aged bourbon whiskey, specifically finished with twice toasted oak staves for richness and flavor. The second of the two bourbons – developed as a more premium bourbon, can be identified by its Blue Label ($99.99) and is marked at a bold 106 proof."

Jared Bickel and Terry Meiners discuss both flavors of Club Blue and the easy delivery process to have a bottle in your home soon.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, so we roll into the weekend this way,
some people say, you know what, I need a good
stiff drink. I worked hard a week. There's all kinds
of flavors. You're in Kentucky, you know, the bourbon trail
here is so huge, so important. People get excited about
when they hear about new flavors coming out. UK's club

(00:22):
Blue Bourbon has expanded its availability for the football season.
I want to say, hi, did Jared Bikele from Bespoken Spirits, Hi, Jared.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Welcome, Thank you, thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Good to have you on. I saw the labels on
these these bottles of Kentucky Small Match Bourbon whiskey. They
look good and it's it's in honestly, yeah, UK colors.
And this is set up to help the University of Kentucky.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Is that right, Yes, sir, it's it's We're in a
new wild wild West in college sports, athletics and every
kind of programs trying to generate some kind of lucrative
generation of funds. And what a better way in the
state of Kentucky than some.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Bourbon exactly right at what we've all been talking about
the payroll for UK basketball and this and that or whatever,
but there are lots of ways to fund that sort
of thing. Looks like Mark Pope is put together an
amazing team. So tell me about Bespoken Spirits. First off,
is that a Kentucky company. Where are you?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, we're located in the north side of Lexington, Kentucky.
We moved here in twenty twenty three from California. And
it's the name so people probably aren't really familiar with
the name is spoken, but it means to customize or create.
It's an old tailor word and that's kind of what
we do. So Bespoken We do have our core products
that are sold in the distillery, but our whole brand

(01:48):
is to create a liquid and a distribution network, a
marketing ploy. Really just the name, image and likeness in
a bottle is really our core value outstanding.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Do you have visitors to the distillery? You part of
the Bourbon Trail for instance.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
We are part of the Bourbon Trail, so we are
in the Lechington region obviously, but that's a new added
feature to the Bourbon Trail. So we're open Wednesday through
Sunday from eleven thirty till six and we offer experiences
customize your own bottle, customize your own label. It really

(02:25):
is a one stop stop for customization.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Oh I love that, customizing your own label. That's great fun. Sorry,
you have these products that are skewed toward the University
of Kentucky's athletics department. Who was the taste judge. Who
was the person who came in and said, this is
the flavor we want?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Great question. So with all of our Anile partners, but
the University of Kentucky was the first one, we have
a tasting event or a tasting panel. In those panels,
we invite media like yourselves, TV personalities, liquor store owners
and buyers, top donors that have donated well through the
Club Blue in the University of Kentucky, and we almost

(03:06):
have a vote to it. So when that bottle hits
the shelves, it's not just some random spirit we picked.
We customize it exactly the way they wanted to taste.
So if they wanted vanilla, they want those rich caramel flavors.
If they want it smoky, you know, we kind of
dialed it down from about ten different flavors all the
way down to the exact one they wanted to do.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Oh nice, But since I'm a media shlub. I'm this
radio TV dude. And my good friend Kelly, let's just
call her Kelly Kraft. We are buddies. She's a big
donor to the University of Kentucky. Would her vote way
more than mine? I'm just guessing it.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Does you know what? We were an equal opportunity.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
That's the way it ought to be, Jared.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
That's the way it ought to be. I agree, all.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Right, So this flavor is now these I'm looking at
the white label and blue label Club Blue.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, looking at the phots.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Is that the same taste in both of those models?
Are they slightly different?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Nope? Drastically different actually. So the first one, the white label,
we call it the kickoff bourbon. During football season, this
is going to be your tailgate bourbon. This is something
that you don't feel bad about opening, and you definitely
don't feel bad about finishing, So you're going to look
it's a small batch bourbon, has a very nice blend
of both American and French, show really high high caramel flavor,

(04:23):
and it's ninety four proof, So it's not going to
be something that's overly spicy, but it is something that
you're still going to feel it a little bit. The
second one is a little bit more higher end. It
is another small batch bourbon. The big difference on that
one is that we finish it and cherry and tequila staves,
so we take exotic finishes and gives it a little

(04:44):
bit more of a complex flavor.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
That's that beautiful blue label. I mean that is that
label as gorgeous. That's a work of art.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
So are these in all Kentucky liquor stores now or
some areas or wherever? Where do you find it?

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah? You can, so you have multiple ways of buying
this obviously. Traditionally you can go to any of your
liquor stores, whether that be Kroger Wine and Spirits or
Liquor Barn or any of your favorite local stores. We
distribute throughout the state. But if you don't want to
leave your house, and I totally understand that, you can
visit our website at the Spokenspirits dot com go under
shop and we have an e com platform and you

(05:19):
can ship it right to your door.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Oh I didn't even realize you could do that stuff.
That's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
So there's the white label and then the blue label,
and they're they're both really interesting looking bottles, and this
is something special just for the University of Kentucky. Are
you getting orders from around the country because it's a
big blue nation? Is literally that?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yes, yeah, we understand that people that have either come
from here or fans or the program, or you know,
just a lover of the state of Kentucky, we understand
that it's not just a it's not just a five
h two or eight five nine situation. So the good
news is about this is that we have seen our
e com platform really open up the floodgates to you know,

(06:02):
products that can be sold throughout the country. And we
actually have some international sales too, So it's really kind
of taken off, which is great because all we're doing
is trying to dry funds to uh, the University of
Kentucky get better players in that football field so we
can kind of hopefully get a better team out next year.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Ye Are there any states that don't allow Kentucky bourbon
to be shipped into them?

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Yes, so we can't ship to Michigan, South Dakota, or Utah.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
But you haters, they're just jelling.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
I know, yep, that's exactly what it is.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Well, Jared, this is this has been quite informative. This
is great and we carry the University of Kentucky games
on this station. So people on a poor one put
their feet up, sit back and listen to Tom Leech
call the ball games.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
That's right, and our slogan really is it's the is
poor one for the team. So if you, if you
guys are, if anyone's going to be at the UK
tailgate tomorrow, we have two tenths set up. You look
for the club blue tent. We're going to be pouring
it if you want to try it. We obviously can't
charge for it, but if you're over twenty one, we'd
love for you to come and sample it. Talk to us,

(07:08):
mingle have a good time, right it's the best time
of the year right now, so we would love for
you to come by and see us, and then we'll
point you in the right direction on where you can
buy it.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Okay, Well, anybody pouring free bourbon in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
You're my new best friend, Jared. Great talking to you,
Thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Thank you for having me. I appreciate it. And there
you go.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Jared Bickle from Bespoken Spirits, there are two flavors out
there that help the University of Kentucky's NIL program. They're
called UK's Club Blue Bourbon, and there's a white label
and a blue label, and there is a little difference
in the price. You heard Jared describe the difference in those.
They look pretty fantastic. So here's mud in your eye

(07:49):
and let's go Cats tomorrow against Texas. I don't know
how that's going to come out, and everybody thinks it's
like woof rough day. You might need that bourbon after
the ballgame, or maybe even after a halftime. In and
