Speaker 1 (00:02):
The band Gary Brewer and the Kentucky Ramblers Lam brew Grass,
and you know they've they've been great friends for many years,
helped us in many ways. Wayne Brewer is a prominent
member of that group, and Alyssa is joining us. I
believe we have them both. Wayne. How are you, brother?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
How are you doing, buddy?
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Always good to have you on. Are you in West Point, Kentucky?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
No, sure, I'm down in Nashville.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Today, all right, very nice, good place to be a
lot of musicians gather there, and there's a new singer
that's dropping tomorrow. I understand.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yes, sir, it's me and my wife, Melissa.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I'm here to you, by the way.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
It's good to talk with you again. Can I play
a little piece here before you go any further. Let's listen, Okay, yes, sir,
I know this. I love the sound of this. I
heard it earlier today. Oh lor Well, it turns out
(01:12):
in this story you are lonesome Wayne and Alyssa is blue,
and that the two of you are married to other people.
At the beginning of the song, it kind of took
me back a little bit there.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Now, man, it's a it's a good one. It's a
good that's our first original tune, Terry that we put out.
We had been doing a lot of the George and
Tammy stuff from back in the day George Jones and
Tammy want it, but this is our first original song.
We're real proud of it, and it drops tomorrow world
line via Sony.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Very nice va Sony. Okay, So the two of you don't,
don't quarrel the way that George and Tammy did, right.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Not as far as anybody knows. I'm just messing with you.
I know you are pretty good to me.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, she is good to you. You understand that Alyssa.
Does he behave when he's in the studio or does
he try to act like he's running the whole show
and you have to put him in his place?
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Well, he runs the whole show, but he's pretty patient
in the studio with me and anybody else, because you know,
it's pretty difficult to do if you don't know what
you're doing, like me. But he keeps me on track.
He keeps me on track.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Actually, well, that's all good. I do love the traditional
sound of the music and the fact that you guys
are pumping out an original. So whose idea was it?
Tell me how you came up with us?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, it's loosely based on George and Tammy's story and
how they met. They were both married to other people
when they met, kind of the classic forbidden love said
country song and in other words, we act out in
this new video that'll drop tomorrow, and I thought it
would just be perfect for us. My dad co wrote
(03:06):
the song with us, and I think, I think it's
really going to be something that people like and hopefully
that we get to be known for as Lonesome in Blue.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Oh, that's that's awesome. Where'd you shoot the video?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Shot the video right there in Radcliffe, Kentucky, at a
place called the Backstreet Cafe.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
And then what did you have to do to keep
the trucks quiet and the cicadas from jumping on your
face while you're doing that? I mean, it's a challenge
when you're shooting outside.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Oh my goodness. Yeah, it was crazy. Some of it
was inside, some of it was outside. I won't do
any spoiler sure yet on it, but yeah, it was.
It was up in the upper nineties when we were
shooting that, even in the inside. It was shot a
little over what a month and a half ago, yeah,
so a great camera team crew there. Lituisville bassed crew,
(04:03):
very proud of that. They did great work and I
hope everybody enjoys the video. And like say, it's a
tidbit that I didn't want to mention that you mentioned
the sound. The steel guitar on that is a gentleman
by the name of Tom Kell and he plays with
Alyssa and I as we tour right now currently for
(04:24):
about the last year. He was George Jones's steel player
for thirty years.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Oh, I can totally hear that. That sounds perfect, yes, sir,
all right, So Alyssa, tell me about the costuming part
of this. See that's the one thing about music videos.
It's all about the look too. So who put that together?
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Well, we kind of both play together at the same time.
He found that jacket and he kind of reminded.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Him of the Dallas Cowboy colors as at thing.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
He found that jacket and then he loved it.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Is it a It was Marty Stewart's track.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
It was Marty Sewart jacket, and then he found a
dress that matched it. So I don't know if you've
seen it yet, but it's in that video.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Nobody does it sound like a musical Hall of Fame
video with all these That feels good?
Speaker 2 (05:22):
All right?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
So the costumes of the Blue and then the Lonesomer
the people, and then there's characters of the name. It's
all looped in together of course.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
All right. So what's the plan going ahead? Are you
guys doing shows?
Speaker 2 (05:35):
We a matter of fact, we leave out here tomorrow
and we're performing up in the what is it called
something Station, Pennsylvania. Yeah, on Friday, we're headlining a big
fare up there. Really excited about that. Saturday, we'll be
playing in Mountinsville, West Virginia at the Strand Theater and
we're going to be hitting about twenty six or twenty
(05:56):
seven theater shows between now and the first of November
with me and Alyssa. And so that has snowballed and
kept us pretty busy, Terry, So we're happy about that.
I did want to mention while I'm on here for
the local folks there in the Louisville area. August twenty third,
coming up is Finleyfest honoring my grandpa Finn, which you
(06:19):
knowed well.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
I love that guy.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yes, he did, you too. I will say he's a
big fan. As we all are, but anybody that can
come out to that Molebandy country legend. Mole Bandy's going
to be there Gary Bruh and the Kentucky Ramblers and
a Diana Osburn band there on Saturday, August twenty third,
right there in West Point, Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Well, I'm so happy for you. I'm glad this single
is dropping now, and I hope folks pick up on
this traditional sound and run with it. Wayne and Alyssa, congratulations.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Thank you my friend. We always appreciate you and it
means a lot when you have us.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
On Okay, where can people find you online?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Just go to Alyssa and Wayne Brewer on Google and
it'll pull up, probably more than they want to know.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Great talking about that, all right, you continued success. Thank
you Wayne, Bye, Alyssa much love.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Bye.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
So they are doing the Tammy and George story in
a loosely held way, lonesome and blue, Wayne and Alyssa
Brewer back in a minute on news radio A forty
w h a ol. Come you see them
