Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh, look who stepped in. It's Monica Bischoff, board chair
for the Louisville ad Federation. It's so nice to see you.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hello, Terry. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
I was just doing a little ad about our wine
on the river. You sure were advertising. That's what drives
the world, isn't it. It really is. I should use
that in a jingle somewhere along the way. Tell me
about the Louisville ad Federation. What is that?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
So, the Louisville ad Federation we are a local chapter
to a national organization. We have more than three hundred
members representing Louisville's billion dollar advertising industry. Say that again,
billion million dollars. Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
That's serious commerce, it truly because messaging moves and it
matters services and it does matter because that's what keeps
a community thriving too mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
And keeping our community engaged as well, which is really
important to.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
So how many people are we talking about who are
in the net of the the AD Federation here?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Local we have about three hundred members. We have one
full time employee who's absolutely amazing. But every other person
that is involved in the ad fed organization is a volunteer.
So volunteer from agencies, printer companies, media companies like iHeartMedia.
It's really awesome to be able to see our entire

(01:23):
community kind of come together for the greater good and
really continue to be that greater Louisville's unified voice of advertising.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
I think messaging is more critical now than ever because
there's so much splintering of messaging through so many different platforms. Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
It's like, how do we keep a cohesive message that
everyone can understand and see? And you know, yeah, I
notice and be a voice for people that don't necessarily
get their voice heard is also really important to us too.
You know, we want to recognize people, We want to
uplift the community. We want to foster the younger generation

(02:01):
to make sure that we're continuing to have advertising professionals
for future years to come.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I'm sorry for staring at your ears. Is that Santa Claus?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Uh No, it's a little bananas Warhol banana and a
little Andy Warhol tomato soup can.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Oh, it's tomato soup can. I saw the red and
line hanging there, but you moved your head too fast.
I thought, Oh, it's a okay, I got it advertising. Yep,
that's very well done.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
You know see I can't I can't direct today just
for you, Terry.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
That's all good. I thought maybe Santa was there and
you were going to talk about a holiday. No, not yet.
But this is the announcement about Louisvillion of the Year.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yes, we are in our seventy fifth anniversary. That's huge.
This is one of Louisville's own awards, has been given
out since nineteen fifty. It publicly recognizes generous professionals that
go above and beyond just their regular career and really
give back to the overall community. So the little Villion

(02:59):
of the Year events happening next Thursday.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, so cool and so not one but two people
are being honest.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Are two honorees this year. Tell me about Carol Jones Clay,
who is currently serving as the Senior vice president and
Managing director of Community Relations for Republic Bank. She's also
the president of Republic Bank Foundation. And then Kenneth H. Clay,
he is known throughout Louisville as the renaissance Man. He's

(03:27):
the president of ken Clay and Associates. And both of
them are really amazing at giving contributions specifically on community
boards or throughout the entire Louisville arts and cultural scene,
especially what Kenneth Clay does. And we're really excited to
be able to honor them next week for this seventy
fifth anniversary.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
They're huge, so deeply involved in the community. That's great.
Yeahs fantastic. I'll see them at various things all the
time and that's awesome. So do they get like a plaque?
What happened? Oh wait a minute, this is the thing
where I've I was there, Yes, it was just last year.
I do a lot of events, but Monica, that was
a fun one because I did. I sat down to
the Q and A.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
With your honore Miss Sandra Fraser.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Andrew Fraser was fantastic, So this is so fun. I
thought that was a great presentation that night. The whole
thing was.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Very moving, and you know, we also had pass honorees
up there. So this isn't just the one time that
we've done this. I mean for the past seventy five
years has been going on or a little longer, and
we've been able to honor Sandra Fraser at Helmets in
Muhammad al Lei, Rick Patino, Mayor Dave Armstrong a couple

(04:39):
of years during COVID we even got to honor frontline
healthcare workers and so that was really important for us too.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
They were Louisvillions of the Year at that sure for sure.
All Right, so people can attend this or is it
already sold out? Or how does this work?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, I'm I mean, I'm pretty positive that we are.
We might have a seat or two depending on who
you are and when you're able to come in register.
But it's next week, next Thursday at the Olmstead. The
event kicks off at five pm. Ok, we'll have a
little cocktail hour and then we'll be able to actually
honor both the Kenneth and Carol. We're really excited to

(05:14):
hear from the community. They'll be a little interview session
with them to talk about all the great things that
they continue to do for our city, the boards that
they set on and why the city is important to them.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
That's so great and it's good positive messaging for other
folks that are trying to move the city forward.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Yeah, and you know, I think for us as not
only this little villion of the year of en is,
we're just really all about trying to get people engaged
and continue to give back to the community. So I
highly recommend if you were interested in finding out more
about what aaf Loivell does, please visit our website at
aafleovel dot org and find out ways that you can

(05:50):
get involved, because it takes a village to do what
we do and to continue to honor these amazing people.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
And there have been so many great honories. A lot
of folks have been lucky enough to know Sam Swape,
Alice Houston. I saw her a couple of weeks ago.
As a matter of fact, Tom Jurich, great guy. He's
got a street named after him. Mayor Jerry Abramson never
heard of him. No, he's He's a delightful guy. We
were just texting a day or two ago, Sister Egan,

(06:16):
Christy Brown. These are people that have been honored in
the past. Mary Bingham, David Jones, and Wendell Cherry. They
founded a little company called hu Mana that seems to
have worked out all right for them.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
I think so.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
I think so well. I love it that you're doing
the Louisvillion and the Year Honoreeson. It's next Thursday, he
