(00:00):
We got a guest in the studioanyway, Wyatt Allison's what us? Hey,
Wyatt, how are you good?It is Jack Harlow a superstar or
not? He is, absolutely heis. We got a news guy here
that won't refer to him that way. Oh really, He'll say celebrity.
He's not here today, so wethink he might be at the Preakness.
Okay, that makes sense. He'llsay hip hop artist, Yes, hip

(00:21):
hop artist. It's like, comeon, he's a superstar. He's known
around the world. Grammy nominated. That's right. He didn't win, did
he No? But still it's oneof those things where if you get nominated,
that's that's almost as good. That'sgood. Whyat's here because he's going
to spend a few minutes with usbecause he's running for office, and I
invited somebody else who's running for thisdistrict, so I thought we'd bring him

(00:41):
into. Let's say hi to Wyatt. Hey, Hey, how's it gone.
I like the name Wyatt. Dopeople ever like tee you to like
a famous cowboy like Wyatt ar allthe time? Because you don't hear guys
name Wyatt very often. There's alaw firm Wyatt Terren Combs. But you
know that you're not a lawyer, are you. No, I'm not.
You're like from a farm family orsomething, aren't you. I am.

(01:03):
I am from a farm off RouteRoad right off Taylor's Vie Lake Road.
Oh, that's District twenty nine inthe state House. Yes, okay,
So you're a Republican and you're runningin the primary that's next Tuesday, although
early voting is going on now, early voting is going on. Yep,
it's gonna be Tuesday, May twentyfirst, Right, and then, why
do you feel a calling to servein your district? Well, I feel

(01:23):
a calling to serve in this districtbecause I think we have a very very
populated, divers group of people inDistrict twenty nine, and I love helping
people and hearing concerns and trying totrying to help people as much as possible
with any issues they may have.I'm guessing you've gone out knocked on some
doors, a bunch of doors, right, had some new friends. Yep.
We're doing door knocking again tomorrow,so it'll be all weekend, so

(01:47):
that'll be a great time. Whathappens when you knock on a door and
they say go away. What doyou do the wizard can't see you today.
You try to just respect their decisions. You walk away very peacefully and
just thank them for your time.Yeah, that's really all you do.
But you do learn from people, you know. I'm going back to like
my paper boy days, right,I met so many people, and they're

(02:09):
all different, and they all havedifferent things going on. And some houses
smell like cupcakes and some of themsmell like dogs. That's very true,
very true. What do you learnfrom people when you're out knocking on doors?
Why at Allison? Well, Iget a lot of the same things
about safety and also school right now. You know, there's big problems with
bussing and different different people need tobe able to get on their bus route

(02:31):
and get to school safely. AndI hear that all the time. Yeah,
but District twenty nine, are youin one of the areas that where
bus routes might be limited now becausethey're talking about cutting out a lot of
routes and telling people just find yourway to school. Yes, yes,
that's a huge issue and that definitelyneeds to be solved. Yeah, and
so you're there. I guess yourconcern is for people who need those bus

(02:53):
routes. Yes, sir, you'reout of school yourself, but there are
other people wearing those backpacks waiting, right, and that's terrible. Nobody should
wait to go to school, youknow, if you want to go to
school, you should be able togo public safe. Is that the first
thing I'm asking you? What's thefirst thing people mention when you say,
what are your concerns? Yeah,a lot of public safety people aren't necessarily

(03:13):
loving the direction that Louis was goingin, and people are very concerned about
public safety, and that's number onepriority for me as well. We got
to feel safe in the community. Are you, as the police department LMPD
or do you have one that's likeone of those little regional departments OLMPD,
L ANDPD covers your area because they'rehow much are they down Johnson three hundred

(03:36):
closer? Three is two seventy five, I believe, So, yeah,
obviously that's an issue. But you'reout in kind of a far flung area
right right county, and so that'sa challenge. Yes, where I live
it is, you know, thirtyseven acres on a farm, but we
all that district offer covers a lotof neighborhoods and a lot of people that
need need proper safety and guidance.Of course, do as is anybody did

(03:58):
they when you were in school callyou a farm boy all the time.
Yeah. I went to school witha bunch of guys who lived in kind
of rural areas too, and theythat's what everybody thought. Hey, y'all
grow carts. You know you're gonnabring some corn to school, right right.
It's a great place to live though. Four wheel there you get you
know, it's really fun. Ohthat's right. Yeah, Okay, So
is this one of those family farmsthat always seems to be under attack by

(04:20):
developers a little bit? Yes,it's definitely a family farm. I know
it's very We hold it very dearto our hearts, you know, as
a family. Definitely can envision,if ever selling the farm. My mom's
been there since he was fourteen yearsold, so it's been in our family
a long long time. But likein the movies, don't people show up
and knock on Northset, son,I'm here to buy this farm. Just

(04:44):
name your price. Yeah, you'llget that. Sometimes the land developers or
if they think there's they can getsome mineral rights underneath your land, they'll
come in and try to buy itand off. I've seen amounts of money.
You think there's oil under your land? Probably not? But do you
get those pitches? A lot ofthings in the mail, You know,
you get a lot of junk mail. We'll offer you today, We'll buy
your house today, no problem,no closing fees. I got one of

(05:05):
those not too long ago, andI said, I think I talked about
it on the air. I textedback, she said, are you interested
in Hey, this is Brandy orwhatever. Are you selling your home?
And she named my neighborhood, andso I wrote back and I said,
I'll tell you what. If you'llput five million dollars cash in a briefcase
and put it on my porch beforesunset, we'll get out before tomorrow morning.

(05:28):
Didn't She didn't answer. I can'timagine why. Yeah, why would
she put five million in cash onmy porch? Then I would look like
I'm some drug lord about who careswhat you look like? If you got
five million dollars exactly, I wouldleave the radio right away. John finished
the show. Where do people findyou online? Wyatt go Wyatt dot com.

(05:50):
Oh that was a good night. That's easy. Yeah, I can't
believe some other Wyatt didn't take thatone. I was just I was just
as surprised. I was very excitedto see that. But you're twenty five
years old, yes, sir.Yeah, so this is cool that you
want to get in the service becausefrankly, a lot of the people in
our state legislature are ancient, right. We need more young people. I

(06:10):
really believe that. Yeah, morefresh ideas of that. Yeah, and
other folks are, you know, kind of moving up the timeline, and
so we need people who can addressthe issues germane to your age group,
yes, sir, And I meanyour your generation kind of from the old
get off my lawn types kind ofgets a bad reputation. I mean,
I have a couple of kids yourage, so I'm dating myself there.

(06:31):
But of like, oh, well, you know, how are they going
to get interested in politics or civilservice because they can't even get off their
screens on their phones or their xboxes. You've obviously done that. What would
your message be to other people toget them as enthusiastic about doing this and
replacing and stepping up and taking thespots of these people as they as they
move out right. It definitely needsto happen. I mean, that's very

(06:53):
important that that that goes, thathappens. But I would give the suggestion
that if you have any interest atall, to do your best to just
learn some of the policy, someof the issues, and see if it
grabs you, see if it's somethingyou might be interested in, because you
don't know until you try, rightwith someone else in your family of service,
and then you decided, oh that'sfor me. Yes, my grandfather
I didn't get to meet him asmuch. You know, he passed away

(07:15):
when I was two years old,but he was on the House Representatives.
Oh. I always thought that waspretty cool. What was his name,
uh, Ray Maynard. I'll beDarne. Yeah, well that's cool.
So this is like a family traditionthat you want to regenerate exactly. That's
really great. I like, Ilike just meeting somebody your age. He
wants to be of public service, because you're right, we got to get
more youthful thoughts, you know, youthful vision in the state legislature. Yes,

(07:42):
sir, all right, And soit's early voting. Have you already
voted for yourself? I have not. I'll be there Tuesday, you're going
to do it Tuesday? Are yougoing to contact the media and say whyatt
Allison will be voting at eight thirtyam at such and such preseis Because that's
what governors and commress people do,don't they John Press release the governor and
his wife will be voting at histime at this precinct. Media to attend

(08:03):
at this time, and then youwalk in. The governor's talking to a
cardboard cutout or something. They're like, governor, you've been campaigning too long.
How you doing? It's nice tomeet you. A governor that's a
pepsi machine. Oh never mind. Are you gonna let us know when you're
voting? If you want to textme, I'll let you out. Yeah,
we'll say Whyatt Allison? Are yougoing to drive yourself to the polling

(08:24):
place or does someone else drive you? And then you get out wearing sunglasses
like you're a big shot. NowI'll drive myself. Okay. We like
keeping it real. We like knowinghe's saying you can. You're twenty five
years old. You've got some buddies. Get a couple of them to put
ear pieces in and wear suits.Yeah, that would be great. Talk

(08:46):
about generating some media buzz. It'sright, who is this guy? Oh
my gosh, that's Wyatt Allison.Go Wyatts, don come, this is
gonna work out great for you.Wyatt. Well, thank you. Appreciate
you got three hundred people you're runningagainst, or how many people are in
the Republican primary two other people? You got this thing? Well, thank
you. I appreciate you saying that. All right, Wyatt, Well,
best of luck to you. Niceto meet you. Thank you. The

(09:09):
website again is Gowyatt dot com.If you want, I got a suit
on an ear piece. I couldbe one of those goons who's there walking
you in? Step inside? WhyAllison's coming through? No, I'll get
in trouble. I can't do that. All right, great to meet you.
Why you're late for the farm? You got chickens or anything? I

(09:30):
gotta go feed everything everyone. You'renot milking cows or anything tonight, are
you? Nope? Nope. Inever missed that job. Whyatt Allison.
