Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you know who Dave Portnoy is.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
I do.
Speaker 1 (00:02):
He's the barstool guy. Yeah, he was on CBS Sunday
Morning yesterday. So I've always said on this show, CBS
Sunday Morning is my favorite show. It's a ninety minute show.
It's long form journalism, and they cover every single topic.
They go from entertainment to politics, they cover it all,
(00:24):
and it really is the best show. We record it
and if we can't watch it live because we're you know,
our lives are crazy, we watch it on Sunday evenings.
And last night they had I guess, ten fifteen minute
long form interview with Dave Portnoy, and I see him
because I like a lot of people that are famous today.
I see them on clips right of on YouTube or
(00:50):
on my Facebook feed.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
And now Fox Sports is trying to make him like
their version of Pat McAfee on ESPN. I don't know
if that's their direction you were taking it, but that's
what I think of now when I think of Dave portnoy.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Pat McAfee, in my opinion, is the most talented broadcaster
in sports right now. I think if you just watched
his opening rant in Pittsburgh this Saturday Morning because he's
from Pittsburgh. And if you don't watch that and understand talent,
(01:23):
I just I can't. He's not just someone saying loud things,
because there are too many sports people that are out
there saying loud things and they're not very talented. They're
covering up their lack of opinion with or a lack
of a good opinion or opinion with just yelling. He's
He's the most talented person in sports right now. So
(01:44):
I don't think I don't know Dave Portinoy and no
to know if he is on that level because I've
never listened to his show. I've never listened to the
long form situation. But I don't. And here's the problem
with social media today. By the way, good morning, he's
Radio eight forty whas John Antonio Venetti here doing the
(02:04):
show for this week, Dwight is out. We are brought
to you by the Kentucky Office fiveway Safety. But like
today's world, I only get the good clips or the
mak him look bad clips.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah, and he's kind of become his role on the
Fox Big noon kickoff that they do. He's he does
a Dave's rant type of thing. You're just talking about
how Pat McAfee says things without being with you know,
he knows what he's saying. Dave Portanoy, he kind of
just screams, but he does have a topic. But for
some reason, whenever he does it, you don't believe him.
(02:38):
In the same way when Pat McAfee goes on about something,
maybe he's still finding that voice, or maybe he's just
not fit for that type of role the way that
McAfee is.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
From what Nick Coffee I asked for give me two
three minutes on Dave Portnoy and Nick Coffee before he left,
and he said, basically, during the COVID Woke years, where
you know, there are so many seg of America that
could not speak, and there was only one side speaking,
and everyone was evil, he was the one that didn't care,
and he was just still saying what he said. And
(03:08):
now if you look back on those clips, they don't
look so bad because obviously that whole movement is dying
off to where, oh wow, everyone can actually speak. He
said also that he had sold Barstool to this company
that had combined with ESPN and sold it back to
him for one dollar. So he sold his company and
(03:31):
then got it back for one dollar, and I went, Wow,
that's either really lucky or you're really good at what
you do. Is it the show? And again I'm exploring
Dave Portnoy as we're talking here. Is he the show
where it's like eight or nine dudes in barker loungers
and they're watching games and betting and making fun of
(03:51):
each other the entire time? Okay, good, okay, all right,
And that's a great idea. That is a fantastic idea.
I don't know how many people that appeals to.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
There's a million people affiliated with Barstool nowadays, so I
don't know if he's on that show specifically, right, but
he is the ring leader behind that entire entity that
is Barstool.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
And he's he's now. The other thing is he talked
about politics on how there's no way he would get
into politics because of all, you know, Charlie Kirk and
the president and the Democrats have been attacked and Pelosi's
wife our husband, and you know, he's like, why would
someone get into that. You know, he's thinking about his family.
(04:32):
But he is Jewish, and you know, he says that
that's the only thing he's really diving into is because
he's he feels a responsibility as a Jewish person to
stick you know, to stick up for what's going on now,
which I think is commendable for sure. But it was
an interesting interview. And you know, he did say he
doesn't trust any media and he said, even driving over
(04:55):
to do the interview with CBS Sunday Mornings, which CBS
again sixty minutes, that they vented journal uh, you know,
investigative journalism. You know, that's why it broke my heart
so bad when they when they had to, when they
finally admitted what they they doctored that Kamala video interview.
You know, with just a couple of weeks before the election.
That's just you. You're not sup. If other people do that, okay,
(05:17):
but you you're sixty minutes, you can't do that. Come on,
you break us old old guy's hearts. John, I grew
up with, you know, journalistic integrity, and you didn't say
things that you didn't know were absolutely true. And to
ask her questions and then stop and then re ask
the questions so she can ask, she can answer differently,
(05:38):
and then run that as the interview just broke my heart.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
It's really sad, and it's one of those things where
how do you how do you not? I guess check
other interviews after that going forward, whenever you've broken your
integrity with something that big already going for you know,
it kind of ruins, Like you said, everything that they've
done in the past.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
When I first got into sports radio fifteen years ago, whatever,
I'm sorry twenty years ago. Now, if someone you didn't you,
if you got something really wrong. I'm not talking about
predicting a game, because you're gonna get those mostly wrong.
I'm talking about you went with a story on someone,
a player, a coach, a person, administrator, whatever, and it
(06:20):
was wrong. It was like an awful day for you.
Even my competition I would call if they did it.
I would call and go, hey man, you're okay, all right,
that's a tough one, dude, what are you gonna do?
But now it's just you can You can get something
wrong every single day. No one cares. It's it's awful.
Actually tell you true. So I might take calls on
Dave Portnoy. I think he's an interesting enough for our listeners,
(06:43):
for people that know him or know that he is.
I think one of these examples of where media is
trying to go and what we're trying to accomplish here.
So again, Barstool is huge obviously, But it was an
interesting interview because I was I watched it and I
(07:04):
wasn't sure whether I like him or not.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
What did they ask him about?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Mostly with all of that stuff, you know, basically the
politics of it, what he does? You know, they were
trying to dive in whether he was a good person
or not.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
I don't day.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
And he did say when he was driving to the
studio that he was like, this might be a hip piece.
He said the only reason he was doing the interview
was because he watches the show every Sunday. He was like,
this is the only show I for sure watch and
he goes and if it's a hit piece, and you
know whatever, I'll you know, I've been on this show.
(07:40):
So he didn't even know, because they can. I mean,
you go to an interview and you give an hour
worth of answers, they edit the interview and.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
If it's if it's not what he expected it to be,
or if they make him look a certain way that
he's not supposed to look at it.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
And it was fine. I thought it was pretty fair.
I mean they yeah, I thought it was pretty fair.
So again, I don't know him, but if he's on,
you know, I've just again alls I'm delivered is on
my feed. They give me. Here's positive stuff for the left,
here's positive stuff for the right, here's terrible stuff for
(08:15):
the left. Here's terrible stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
For the right.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
And I will get according to whatever my feed is doing,
my algorithm is doing today, I will be delivered either negative,
because the one that I get all the time is
him screaming at his co host and tell him, well,
just quit, just apologize or quit. You know, you make
a half a million dollars, you're a loser, call him
a loser, and all kinds of stuff. And I thought
(08:39):
that obviously is to make him look bad. But there's
also those videos of people saying horrible Jewish things at
him when he's just out doing that pizza gig that
he does, which is just weird where he goes around
to not weird, but he goes it's interesting, he goes
goes to local pizza joints.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
He's been, I think to Lexington on if he's done
more in Louisville, Yes, but he tries local. It's like
one slice or something like that.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
And he's not a fan of the state of Kentucky.
I know, I've seen plenty of video there. Interesting, it's weird,
and I don't think he's a fan of Louisville the
city either. He called Churchill Down's a dump, which I
don't even know what he's talking about. Maybe he means
the location or like, well what's around right right? Yeah,
So I don't know. He's an interesting person. We might
(09:25):
dive into that a little bit later. Catholic Charities and
George Timmering from Barno's are going to come in here
in a minute and talk about, uh, what they got
going on. This weekend was busy obviously with some sports.
Uh Louisville lost for the third time. Uh, and it
was it was not It was not a very good game.
It was not fun. If you're I don't care which
(09:47):
side you are. If you're you're Clemson fan, you're happy
that you won the game. But either team tried to
give it to the other team all game long. No
you win it, No you win it, No you in it,
no you in it. It was Louisville's football program right now.
The football team is one of the most undisciplined teams
(10:09):
I've seen. I've seen him before. John L. Smith would
have a team like this. Even Bobby had teams like
this towards the end under Crackthorpe, for sure. It's it's
I think Crawford had the best assessment. Sometimes he does.
(10:30):
He's obviously used to work for Career Journal and writes
books on the side and then works for WDRB. But
he said, you know, the illusion is over right, and
he's right. They are who they thought we were. They
were right. They're not They're not a very good football team.
The pieces just aren't working together and the potential could
(10:54):
be there. And I don't think this is Jeff Brahms's
best coaching job he's had. I think he would probably
admit that himself. But they are very undisciplined. Some of
these personal fouls are ridiculous. There's so many drive killing
penalties that you're just like, offense is about rhythm. It's
(11:18):
about getting in a rhythm going down the field. It's
not just over the top one big play. You got
to get into a rhythm. And when you have these
penalties that are fifteen yards take you back and you
lose the down. It's crazy, it's a killer. You cannot
move the ball. So Louisville not doing so well, and
then I don't know where Kentucky's heads are their fan
(11:38):
base is, because now they're on a win streak, was
it three games in a row.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
I think they can win Bowl or get to Bowl
eligibility if they win one of the two next games. Then,
of course Louisville and even if they wanted to fire him,
because six and six is is barely acceptable, even in
a place like Kentucky nowadays.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Right, it's not Penn State where they'll fire you for
just whatever.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
But here's the other thing, Like, there are so many
teams that have thrown their hat into the new coaching
ring for this offseason. If you're Kentucky, you're low on
the powerful total question.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
So even if you wanted.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
To fire him, you just kind of got to deal
with it this year and maybe things get better next season.
If not, then you then you kind of pulled the t.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
I'll tell you what doesn't help is Texas A and
M doing it and their next coach has got them
third ranked in the country. IU did it, and I
U's obviously I'm go number two in the country. Gonna
say it, they're a juggernaut. They are a juggernaut right now.
They're a juggernaut. They are hard to stop.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
But they're gonna have to play the other juggernaut in
the Big Ten championship, most likely Ohio State in a
couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
That will be the most watched football game all year.
Oh you're not wrong. I will say this. I don't
normally watch the pregame hype shows or the package they
put together, but Texas and Georgia when they put that,
I don't know if you saw it, but it was awesome.
They did see it. They did The Devil went down
to Georgia and I thought this was I mean, it
(13:00):
was awesome. ESPN or whoever put that together, ABC, whoever
put that together. Man, that was awesome. What's the Devil
went down to Georgia? Texas at Georgia and Texas tried
to hand out on his log in the third quarter
of Georgia was like, let us remind you what's going
on here. Texas just isn't the Texas team they've had
(13:23):
in the last five seven years.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
And while you're still talking football, did you see how
Texas A and M won their game against South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
They just come back in Aggie history, thirty to three.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
South Carolina didn't score a single point in the second half.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Yeah, that's right. They were down twenty seven points, twenty
seven points and at the half, and they came back
and won that damn thing. And that reminds me. Those
kind of wins push you towards championships, just like I
use against Penn State and that damn let last drive
with that you know that ended with the catch. I mean,
(14:00):
those are the kind of wins that push you to
another level. So yeah, so that doesn't help though, So
firing a coach and let's go looking for the answer,
and they both not just found a good coach and
Louisville did too. Jeff is their answer. There's no question
about that. Jeff Brohm is your coach at uo L
and will be for a very long time. There's no
(14:20):
question about that, unless you know circumstances out of their control.
But they're football coaches. They'll be fine. But that's the problem.
Also is that you're always looking grasses green, or you're
always looking for something sexier to pull your program up
to the top, because it's so much money. It's so
much money, and Louisville and Kentucky basketball obviously doing well.
(14:42):
But yes dayport I wanted to to start the show
with Daveportnoy's. That's one of those characters that these super
famous people that when you were super famous twenty five
years ago, everyone in the country knew who you were. Now,
if you stop people on four Street and you ask
the next ten people that pass you who Dave Portnoy is,
(15:03):
I don't think maybe half would know.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I think that's fair.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, and in nineteen eighties or nineties, if it was famous,
you would everyone would you know? Everyone go oh, yeah,
of course I know who that is. So we might
take calls on that a little bit later. But it
is going to be a weird week. I'm taking off
on Wednesday to go down to Charleston. Dwight is out
for the rest of the week. I think they've got
Leland maybe slated to come in. I'm not sure. All right,
(15:31):
Unlimited Landscapes. That's my friend Steve Butler. I've known him
since I was a teenager. He's been put a pool
installer for over a decade for sure, and he's really
good at it. If you're looking at a pool. I
would say, get the design work with their architects and designers,
and you can have anything in this pool. Swim up, bar,
the led lights, waterfall, doesn't matter. They'll take care of you.
(15:55):
Outdoor fireplaces, they do all that stuff. But you get
the design and then you have a picture of it
for Christmas morning and kind of unveil it to the family.
That would be pretty cool. Do you see what dad did?
And the pool is coming this spring, So get a
hold of Unlimited Landscapes. Go to Unlimited landscapes dot com
and start the process. Now, pool in the backyard. Maybe
(16:17):
your family will start to come over more and visit
you at the house back after this on NewsRadio eight
forty whs all right, dude, that's it. Just cut the
song no more no heavy metal eighties out Yes, Oh no,
I get it too much when he's here. It's ridiculous.
(16:37):
I have to put up with us in spirit though.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
We have to know. No I think we do.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
No, we're good, we're good, no heavy metal, no eighties rock.
We'll see, oh we'll see.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
All right.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Welcome back news Radio eight forty whas Tony Dwight Chill
brought you by the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety. Please
slow down when you're driving through the construction zones, and
it certainly don't be on your phone. Don't drive distracted.
George Cheery name with me, George.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
How are you good morning? How you doing Tony?
Speaker 1 (17:06):
You're looking good, buddy.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Do you think Lemmy gets sick of white being at
home on these breaks.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Get sick of any day that you can almost in
his bark here help me from Lemmy. It's definitely he
is one of those helicopter parents that annoy the child,
and Lemmy as the child.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
How are you good doing well?
Speaker 1 (17:27):
You like to feed people, but today we're it means
something different.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
It sure does, you know, with the way things are
going in the world today, we kind of saw a need. Actually,
our employees at the bowman Field location said, hey, we
want to have a food drive. And ironically, my friend
Rayner Hoyer and I had been meeting with Catholic charities
(17:54):
and we had toured Father Jack Jones there at Holy
Name the food pantry there, and we had obviously heard
about Sister Visitor, and we said, hey, well guess when
I told the employees, I said, hey, I've been talking
to somebody, we're ready to go. So yeah, so we're excited.
No toy drive this year. Today, this year we're going
(18:15):
to do food and support Catholic charity.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
I think that's a great idea because again we all
know the price of groceries happening. Catholic Charities has always
been involved. How did you jump in with the Barons brand?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Oh? So exciting. So last year they were having a
all the Catholic high schools were doing actually their class reunion,
and they did a joint class reunion through Baron O's
and a bunch of other folks got together.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
And he's actually a Trinity guy, Sean McGuire.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
I love Sean McGuire. Yes, I love Sean.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
And they had a connection through the adoption at Catholic
Charities and since then, the class of nineteen eighty four
has been a big supporter of ours and has led
to many great things like this Baarnos promotion.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Okay, so how does this work? So there are a
different set up, there's Kentucky Harvest, there's Day to Care.
Everyone does it a different way. How will this work?
Speaker 4 (19:08):
So Dare to Care is a great partner of ours
and they feed many of the pantries within the within
the community. However, their numbers are drastically down. When their
numbers are down, their affiliates are down, and we're one
of their affiliates. So George and his staff at Baronos
have decided to step up and help fill our pantries
at Catholic charities. And it's just an extra push that
(19:28):
we need because of the influx that's not coming in
like it used to.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Right, So how do we help?
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Well, bring by your can goods to your local bear
Knows And a special twist if you for every item
that you bring, we're going to give you a dollar
bear Nos buck that you can use towards your pizza
purchase up to five dollars. So okay, if you bring
one or two or five goods in, you're gonna get
(19:58):
some You're gonna get some good pods to use for yourself.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Oh I love it all right? So what are we
looking for? What type of food are we looking for?
Is salt cann goods or what's what's the idea?
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Mostly nonperishable goods, So anything like the tunas and the
jellies and the peanut butter pasta can goods as well
We're also in need of fresh vegetables and fruit and meat,
but we're not taking them there. We'll take those that
our pantses.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
That'll end up on a pizza. What happened to those
vegetables we had just sitting here. It's on the Mama
beer Nos that just went out the door. And I
peanut butter. I still eat a lot of peanut butter.
I should not, sorry, Doc Sadlow say, next grad my cardiologist,
but that I just love I love peanut butter.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
All right.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
So this is a great idea. It's two great organizations,
bear Nos and Catholic Charities coming together. It's the holidays.
We want to be able to have a better holidays
for some of these families. Just go to the grocery
and you know exactly what the prices are just for
basic stuff, and you as much as you can coupon
(21:09):
and save and go on sales and all that. It
still is a big chunk of your of your monthly
bills are from the grocery. So let's help out some folks.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Okay, we're doing this now through Christmas.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
That's what I want to say.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
We want to start off and really get a good surgeon.
When you're doing your shopping for Thanksgiving here in the
next week or so, pick up some goods and you know,
obviously the Wednesday before Thanksgiving the Friday are perfect times
to order Barono's pizza. Yeah, and come in and bring
in some good for the Catholic charities and the food paint.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
All right, earned Baronos Bucks by bringing in food four
donations up to five dollars off in beer No's Bucks.
Have you actually printed out Baronos Bucks or are we
just doing it?
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
We have?
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Is your face on the bear Nos bix?
Speaker 2 (21:57):
No, the cards aren't that big. They don't play cards
and nothing.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
If you did the George timmering in the center of
the barrels, but people wouldn't even turn them in. They're like,
I'm keeping this forever. Oh yeah, Uh, you sadly lost
a friend. We sadly lost a friend this weekend. Do
you want to say something about your friend?
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Sure? Mike Krask a friend of mine who had worked
with childhood cancer family fun. We had gone to grade
school at Saint Martha and won championships, football, basketball, everything else.
Mike was a great athlete. We went to say Next together.
Mike played football at UK and and and then he
ran track at U of L.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Kind of an interesting and uh, and.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Then he became an L and PD officer. But then
in his retirement, you know, and Mike was a real
caustic guy. He was no nonsense and it was it
was interesting fun to see a guy gets so passionate
about toys and kids and whatever. And and uh, he
really did a lot of good. And tragically Friday night
he was in that car accident on seventy one. So
(23:06):
really going to miss him. And guy did a lot
of good and he inspired a lot of other people
to do well.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
I just want to share because I worked closely with
Mike for last seventy years and he last year we
bought forty thousand dollars worth.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Of toys from Walmart.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
The kids in three hospitals here in Louisville, in Cincinnati
and Peyton Mannix Hospital up there in Indianapolis.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
What what he sounds like? He had an amazing life.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yes, he did a lot of good and everybody got
behind him, his family. It was a family event for
the whole Craft family. But then you know, relatives, friends,
old friends from the police force. So yeah, he was
a really really good guy, and uh, we want to
I think his giving nature. We want to really kind
(23:53):
of focus with this food drive and really kind of
remember Mike.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Yeah. And it goes along with you know, the crash
a couple of weeks ago, where you know, you don't
know when someone's not going to come home. So say
what you got to say to folks that are in
your world. Absolutely, yeah, all right, guys, thank you for
coming in. Anything else with Catholic charities you want to
mention that's going on. I know you have this food drive.
It is the holidays.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
It is the holidays, and food and people being hungry
doesn't stop after Christmas. So put it on your Christmas
list now, though, make it an actual shopping item this year.
I think that would be a different way to look
at how you're supporting the community. Just twenty five dollars
extra you might spend on flea stocks somewhere. Spending on
some food and.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Needs been large all year round. It hasn't been like
a recent thing, you know, any of the events going on.
It's no.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Inflation is out of control and it's been going on
for years and it keeps going in that direction.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
You know, I've kind of learned something. You know, when
you go to these places and you might see somebody
pull up in a car or whatever, but you don't
know that person's story. You don't know if they just
lost their job, you don't know. Maybe they have a
medical thing. So if we donate a lot of food,
that's an expense that you know, maybe then they can
afford their medicines or their rent or the whatever. So
(25:11):
it's just a again, you know, inflation, Let's help people.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Yeah, I don't make politics out of hungry children or
I mean, I just I don't care hungry kid just
it just gets to me totally. So definitely. The Baron's
Food Drive is on any of the Barono's.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Locations, all thirteen.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
All thirteen locations. You bring in some can goods or
some food, you're gonna get some Baronos Bucks. Guys. Great
idea great combination Catholic charities and Barono's pizza. Thanks for
coming in today, Thank you having us all right. Vision First,
we went there last week with Dwight Whitten. Dwight went
there and got his eyes examined. He's got some glasses.
I can't wait till he gets back and he can
(25:52):
finally see. Instead of bumbling around the studio and knocking
things over, go to Vision First, I Care dot Com
and do the exact same thing Dwight did. He was
only there about an hour. That's with the exam and
the pictures and everything else and picking out the frames.
Vision firsticare dot Com. Back after this on newsradioight forty
whas all right, that's better NewsRadio eight forty.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Whas Little Genesis instead of White Snake.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Phil Collins is Tony and Dwighthow brought you by the
Kentucky Office of Highway Safety. Please slow down, buckle up,
put the phone down, and slow down during those construction
zones which are happening all over Louisville. We've been telling
you know, I do a weekly sometimes some weeks there
every other day update on AI is gonna kill us
(26:38):
all or takeover and how much of humanity will be left?
Even though AI is a reflection of what humanity is.
That's why a lot of these AIS are getting things
wrong and cheating because there were a reflection of us.
But AI has generated a country song that has topped
the Billboard charts for the first time ever, breaking rust.
(27:05):
The song is walk My walk. This is not a person,
this is AI.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
But I don't stay. Got murder on my jeans, Still
ready to go. Every star is a story that I survived.
I've been through hell, but I'm still alive. I've this
slow down boy, don't go to fans, but I ain't
(27:34):
never been one to live in the past. I keep
moving forward, never looking back. With a worn out at
and a six string stream. You can kig rocks if
you don't lie.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
This is walk My walk. It's got three and a
half million streams on Spotify, and yesterday I was hit
number one the Billboard sales chart, the country digital sales chart,
so people are paying for it.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
Wow. Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Breaking Rust is the name of the artist, the fake
AI creation.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
It's a great name, by the way, Breaking Rust. And
though it's fake, yeah it is.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Yeah, it is probably come up with, hey, what should
we call ourselves? AI comes up with a name forty
one thousand followers on Instagram, So if you less, you
have less than forty one thousand followers on Instagram, you
cannot There's a fake person on AI that has more
more followers than you.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
If this were to ever gain real like consistent traction,
people would want to go.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
I guess see this live.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
You're gonna be seeing hologram.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
Concerts or holographic concerts or ever you're gonna call it
where the fake AI artist is up there playing, even
though of course it's not a real person. I just
can't see myself no matter how good the song sounds,
ever going to see something like that?
Speaker 1 (29:03):
Well you again, this is why they talk about generational right, Okay,
you're gonna be there's going to be a generation that
won't care.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Yes, the younger generation who never knew anything before this.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
I don't understand. As my son went to not Lollapalooza
maybe it was Lola Palooza in Chicago, where he said
one of the best experiences of his life was one
of these artists. That it's just a dude with a microphone,
no instrument, and there's nothing but video screens behind it.
So how far over a leap it would it be
(29:37):
just to have the digital screens?
Speaker 2 (29:39):
What are you going to see?
Speaker 4 (29:40):
Then?
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Just listen to the music.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Okay, so you have a lineup of actual people and
then here comes the AI guy breaking rust. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
I'm sure it will definitely be tried out at some
of these larger festivals where they placed the AI artist
somewhere to see if people come and see some like this,
that'll be the first telltale sign on whether this is
profitable in a live music setting.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
How tempting is it for a country artists to hide
the fact that they wrote a song with AI, or
if they had to say, write me a song and
then they sort of got you know, inspired, quote unquote.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
I don't think there's anything wrong if you're using AI
to help write your songs. It's the performance aspect that
I don't know, man, because how many of these artists
already have other people write their song.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
I disagree. I disagree if you're writing a song and
you and you and you use AI to write the song,
I just if.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
It's every aspect of the song, yeah, that's that's I
agree with you there. But if if you just have
them write a draft and then you want to tweak
it and make it your own, that sort of thing,
I don't think there's a problem with that.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
Look, even some of the greatest that changed the world,
uh borrowed. They call it borrowing, right. Some of the
greatest artists of all time, from Michael Jackson to Elvis
Presley to whoever borrowed some of their act or what
(31:13):
they do from people that had gone before them. So
I don't mind. I just don't take I don't mind
breaking rust. It's an AI person. I know it's an
AI person. I know it's an AI song. I like
the song. I will listen to the song, but I
don't want someone that's a human uses the AI and
takes the AI song and makes it a hit. I
(31:35):
don't know. I don't know. It's still all happening so fast,
it's crazy, all right. That's the first hour. It's in
the books. We got the news coming up next, and
plenty of rex all over town. I saw sixty four
westbound on the way in. Some poor guy was on
the side of the road on his phone, and his
front end of his looked like a sedan was just
or suv was just crushed crushed in. He seemed all right,
(31:58):
but they had backed up obviously pretty far away. I
don't think that's probably cleared up much because all of
that anti freeze and stuff leaks out onto them on
the road. So we'll keep you up with that in traffic.
That's what we do on NewsRadio eight forty whas,
