Speaker 1 (00:01):
I prematurely got my Dammy out. It was nineteen seventy six.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Oh, we missed it by a year.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Here's the thing, though, we're at the end of December.
You're kind of in between years, so I could see
why you would think it's nineteen seven. This is where
it gets tough Linda Lambert and John Alden because songs
come out in December and they're still on the charts
in like that's rush. Jane sorry almost said January. Correct,
we're in radio. It's Jam you wary Jam. It's Octoberrovember,

(00:32):
ac December and January, So forgive me.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I still think we should get partial credit because those
were still hits in seventies.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
A great job, Linda, Yeah, yeah. We hadn't even made
it that far without Linda Lambert. Lambert, Linda Lambert, listen,
you're a Louisville treasurer. I love you very much. We've
been friends for years. You are, you were and you
still are. Hey, Lambert, Lindsay, I mean that that morning
show absolutely terrific. And I want to talk to you
about Triple eight two, but I want to talk about

(01:01):
some of the stuff that you all used to do
for others with that morning show. You didn't just sit
on your hands and wear a morning show, collect your
check and go on. You always looked out for others.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah, that was that was important to us, to.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
The point where you would do stupid stuff. I mean,
I mean just thirty six hour request of thons at
a mall where you would stay up for thirty six hours.
The people it did a really good job or raising
money for those in need.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
But make a wish.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
I haven't been.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
I have the distinction of being able to say I
bathed in the sinks at the restrooms at Oxforden.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
For like five years.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah. But I got to tell you, man, those endurance
broadcasts are absolutely miserable. But you did it for others.
Do you think you could do it now? No? How
were you? Let's just talk about something else. Way. So
I was on record here and John Alden knows this,
and I said, I'll never go back to morning radio.

(02:02):
You've said that a lot of times. Then I'll just
walk away from it because no, I can't do it.
I can't get up at four o'clock in the morning.
And I was a younger man. I did it for
a decade. And I tell you here's what shialed the
deal for me when we emerged and we were on
the same team as whas. I saw the great iconic
Wayne Perk, and I saw.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Him every morning worked with Wayne.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
He's a great guy. So I see Wayne Perk every day.
And finally in the coffee room, I was doing Mornings
on Rock. He was doing morning here on hass And
I said, I said, Wayne, when do you get used
to getting up these hours? It's been almost a decade
for me. He goes, you never do.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
People used to ask me that question literally on the street,
how do you do that? And I'm like, my standard
answer was I'm crazy. Yeah, And my family thought that
for sure. And you know you and I were talking
to I don't know now because I get eight hours
of sleep and if somebody wants me to do something
before eight in the morning, I'm like, what I know?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Are you nuts?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I know?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
And I was getting four to five hours of sleep.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
On a good night.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I promise you twenty five thirty years in a row.
And I had two kids.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
That's another thing I wanted to get to is you
were a mother at the time, and kids like to
stay up late. They like to do things, knock around
the house, have fun, play the guitari or whatever it
might be.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Well, plus they had ball games at night, and you
got get up at four friends over to spend the
night and just you know, all the things you do
two girls. I mean, they were very much social butterflies.
So there was a lot going on.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Well, and you finally you moved on. You had enough
of the game. You got in with Triple A. And
you've been with the good folks at Triple A for years.
And let's talk about what we're going to talk about today.
Because as long as I have been driving, since I
was sixteen years old, this is a Christmas gift that
I get from my mother every single year.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Darlene, your mom is a smart lady.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
She's a saint, this woman. But I got to tell you,
every single year with my Christmas gifts, a Triple A
car is included.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
It makes a great gift.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
It does make a great gift. But let's talk about
everything you can get with this.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
During the holidays every year we offer a gift membership promotion.
And if you are one of those people who waits
to shop till the last minute and you don't want
to fight the crowd, yeah, you can do all this online.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I mean you could. You could do it Christmas morning
if you wanted to.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
But we have a special price right now at thirty
five dollars for a gift membership. That's twenty dollars off
and you get a twenty dollars gift card.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
And so that's for the year.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
That's for the year.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
So let me just because it's straight, it's thirty five
bucks for the year. I could promise you not if
but when your car breaks down, and I'll get told
it's more than paid.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
For itself exactly one toe. And it pays for itself
if you run out of gas, dead battery. It's paid
for itself, dead battery. And there was a time where
I would be shamed for having someone else change my tire.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
I'm past that. My back hurts. I can barely just
pick your bend over and pick up the ice cube
that fell out of the freezer. I usually kick it
under unless Susan's listens. Oh right, that's the.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Move, right there, kick it under, not picking to that.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
But I can't change the time anymore. I just can't
do a couple of reasons. Number one, I mean, what
happened to just getting out the jack and the jack
handle and it turned into some kind.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Of too complicationd y, that's a crap, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
But yet these are they called rescue rangers.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
That's one of our providers.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
They know exactly what to do. So for thirty five
bucks and you get a twenty dollars gift certificate back.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
On that, yep, you do.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
So it's a great deal. But people also, you know,
the thing we're known for most of all is a
roadside assistant, right when you think of Triple A, but
we have so many other things that we are involved in,
like travel and insurance, and when you join Triple A
you get all of those benefits. You just come into
any branch, say you want to go on vacation like

(05:58):
you do tocabbo eighteen times year.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
We have these.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Travel advisors who are very very well versed in all
of the great deals you can find, and they have
access to things that you can't necessarily find online yourself.
We have great insurance products and we ensure everything. We
also have discounts and rewards, which a lot of people
don't realize. When you become a Triple A member, you

(06:24):
have access to all kinds of discounts, and rewards in automotive, entertainment.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Movies, hotel, hotel restaurants.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Rental car.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
I gotta tell you it is our rental partner.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I gotta tell you. For years I never did that,
but now I always ask is there a Triple A
discount you really need? Times? There is more times than not,
there is a Triple A discount.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
And if you're wondering what all is included in the
discounts and rewards, when you go to Triple A's website,
there's a tab that you can click for discounts and reds,
and then it breaks it down by category so you
can see all of the options that you have. And
you're right, most people don't realize that you can really
save some significant money.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
It's Christmas Eve eve. If you're looking for the perfect
stocking stuff or quite frankly, the perfect Christmas gift for
anybody that drives? How do people? Go ahead and knock
this out today? Right now?

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Go to AAA dot com and there is another tab
that says join and it tells you all about the
gift memberships and how to get them.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
And you know you also want to think about it.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
This is a great gift for grandparents give their grandkids
who are driving. Our girls had it from the very
very beginning and they still have a membership.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
So it just gives you peace of mind.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
You know, when you've got a teenager, sixteen, seventeen year
old out there driving, what if they break down on
the side of the road and they can't get a
hold of you, they can cull Triple A and we
will be there.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
And I'll tell you, gone are the days, or for
me at least popping the hood and taking a look.
It looks like the Space show Peter Chips. Who am
I kidding? Here's what I might do. I might pop
the hood and then rub my hands on some of
the dirty parts. That way when the Triple A driver
shows up and goes, oh, this guy knows what he's doing,
look at his hands. But he's just obviously we just

(08:14):
need it.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Told me he's gonna take one look at you and
go No, got you.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Brought me a Christmas gift, so I got it. I
can't wait anymore. I gotta open this up. You can't
top what I got. No, he can't.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Oh nuts, I brought you and Tony Nuts, well.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
You are we eat. I guess it looks like there's
sugar on these nuts and bourbon. Oh are you kidding?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
No?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
So I might just I can't say that.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
No, you can't say that.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I was gonna say I would never mind. No, led
to Lambert is always great to see you.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
It's great to be here. It's great to be here.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
How are your windows?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
My windows actually could use replacing. I hope my husband's
not listening right now.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Well, I want him to go to Pella Louisville dot com.
