Speaker 1 (00:00):
New year Old show. Look, we are I guess have
developed not past the neoliftic period, right, Okay.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Why do we say about college words on this show?
Man and neolliptic He's back? How about can only get
one channel on my headphones? Can anything complain?
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Why?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I mean twenty twenty four complained and we still got
stuff like this going on.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
New year Old Dwight, Good morning, everybody, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
He was Radio eight.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Forty whs were brought to you by the Kentucky Office Fighway Safety.
John William Alden, the third is with us again.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Tood morning. Glad to be back with you in twenty
twenty six. Good morning, John Wayne, John w No, you
know what you can go back on vacation. Gotta tell
you it was tough. The old craign Landrath jeep didn't
move from the driveway a whole lot.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
We were in opposite positions because when Gus called me
last week it was like can you work Friday? I
was like, yes, yes, I will, I will work Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
You were like nope. I'm like, why am I seeing
this calling text? That'sought I'll block you all both for
the past two weeks. No, that was great. I do
want to say thank you to everybody that came out
to rocking the stocking at Barno's Third Market. We raised
all kinds of toys a gigantic box. When was that
It was December twenty third, Yeah, and then all seems
(01:21):
like a year ago. Ah, last year. And then thank
you everybody that came out Saturday night to Alex kicked
his tour off right here in Louisville. Sold out, he did.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
He came in Friday to talk about it. Man. He
was telling great stories about him and his dad and
going to movies. It was a great sight, was Alriday,
all right. So I woke up Saturday morning very early,
and we were going to head to the gym, head
to the je to work out, start the new year,
get it rolling. And I just heard Venezuelan balmbing and
I just I blew past it because I go, oh, okay,
we bombed somebody. We've been doing a lot of that
(01:54):
for thirty years.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Yep. So I'm like, okay, get.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
In the shower, I get back out of the shower,
and then I see it and I go, wait a minute,
I have to do the little circle back the ten
second back on the remote. I was like, did he
say that we snatched the president and his wife? I
was like no, no, no, no, I had to rewind it.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
No, rewinded.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
And then Jackie got a shower and I would go, oh, sweetheart,
we didn't just bomb. We took the president and his wife.
And he was She was like what and then my
phone started going boo boo boo boo boo. So United
States carried out military strikes in Venezuela, a wide ranging Uh,
this was almost everyone, the Air Force, the Army, the Navy, Delta,
(02:36):
nights Talkers, one hundred knights talkers.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
No serious, there was there was, there was something. There
was part of an organization called nights Talkers. Yeah. I
have to look into this. I know the part of
them are out of Louisville. There's like a National Guard
nights Talker. Let me research this as well. You brought
up Kentucky. I went down a rabbit hole last night.
But yeah, you know we've got one hundred.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
First Yeah, Campbellsville, Campbellsville, and that's where they built the
mock up, you know, palace or wherever the guy lives.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So guy lives on a military base.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, Delta train here in Kentucky for this operation.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
And then okay, so they go in one hundred and
fifty planes, the Navy submarines of course.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Uh, they have the.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
I can't remember which aircraft carrier group is down there.
It's the biggest one.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
We have the latest one. So we got George Bush.
I don't think it's the Ford. It's a forward class
aircraft carriers, all right.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So then you think, all right, we've snatched Nicholas Maduro
and his wife, which was unbelievable. They didn't lose a plane,
they didn't lose a soldier.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
They came in. The guy almost got to his safe.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Room, which I'm gonna be pretty convinced they could have
gotten into there before he could shut the door. They
get to him, and they get him. He is now
in New York. I believe his first quarter appearance will
be today, so you'll see that later in the news.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
So then there's a press conference.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
So we're all waiting, and I usually don't do this
watch the Trump press conferences live. I'll just like, I'll
get the cliff notes later from Cliff right. It's great
at notes.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
He's taking notes.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, great note taker. So I when I watched the
whole thing, and I couldn't believe. I mean, it was
so I thought, all right, we've snatched the leader and
then we're back off.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
No.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
No.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
When he when he started talking about our oil companies
are going to go in and fix the infrastructure and
start pumping out oil from Venezuela and we will run
the country, I was like, I was like looking at
Jackie and I was like, what is happening? Like this
is different than before. So that's where we are right now.
(05:00):
They've walked back run the country in quotes a little bit.
Trump hasn't, but everyone else underneath have. So that's where
we are now moving forward. I did see an interview
with a local Venezuelan. He owns a restaurant here in Louisville.
We're gonna try to get him on the air with
us either this morning or tomorrow. There's there's not any
(05:22):
there's no Venezuelans that are saying no, no, and that's
you shouldn't.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Have done that. I'm friends with several Cubans because of
Berda and Maria with it, they've been do the same thing.
Cuban Americans of Kentucky and been to several of their
function and every one of those are overdoid saying, oh
my gosh, this is a fantastic thing. Oh, there's no question.
Backsterra Avenue. Well, they they had a protest in front
(05:50):
of the Walgreens on Baxter and uh, what bucket for energy?
Speaker 1 (05:55):
A couple hours later they already had signs made, and
of course they did unless they already like no oil
for I don't know, I can't remember no blood for oil.
I think it was one of the signs. So they
have that one in the trunk too, ready to go.
But I believe, my personal opinion is that the good
outweighs the bad in this situation. A lot of times
(06:16):
risk versus reward, and if you pull it off, it
was worth it. This guy needed to get out. This
country is beautiful. It's beautiful, and they have completely destroyed
that country and the people that live in it. Twenty
five percent of the population has escaped Venezuela in the
(06:38):
last twenty years.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Your Cuban or part Cuban. Yeah, you're basically a who
did and ran. You got every thank you, But I
want to talk to the Cuban part of you right now.
You know, you know and this is hypothetic, hypothetic rhetorical.
Have you ever seen pictures of Cuba before socialism? Oh yeah,
absolutely beautiful, the women, I mean, the country's just got
(07:01):
it going on. Socialism comes in. Well, that's exactly right.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
It's never it's never been a good idea, especially when
you have dictators running the show and in both those countries.
But the fact that Venezuela was the third largest economy
in the world, it's beautiful. I don't know if you've
seen videos of Venezuela, it's beautiful place. If they can
get back and they can put somebody in leadership of
(07:29):
there that makes sense then and let them run it,
that will be great, isn't.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
The vice president of Venezuela saying, I don't know, he's.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Still press so she has to say one thing and
then behind closed doors.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yes, you're right, you know, but the people are overjoyed. Man. See,
this is the good thing about social media. One of
the few good things is the truth can seep out
by people's cell phones. Yeah, there's all kinds of footage
of people celebrating the streets. The whole bit. Elon Musk
yesterday said he's going to provide free Internet for venezuzl.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Whal oh nice, yeah, nice, Yeah, so we can start
getting video.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
God does it all the time. Man, He'll uh, you know,
there will be some kind of a natural disaster. He'll
go in and pop a satellite over and go there
you go. Those are the starlink.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
This is on me.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Star Starlink is what that is. Not to be confused
with Starlink two thirty four from episode seven of New Generation.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I don't want to get I don't want to get sidetracked.
But there is a star Wars and Avengers DC Comic
Marvel event, a free Star Wars event at the Expo
Center January ninth.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Oh, who are you telling? Oh, you're right. I'm sorry.
I thought I was informing you of something, but you
I've already got my mask to put on the Marvel
I'm sorry. What was that, sir? Tickets though, sir? Could
you put your mask off?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Up?
Speaker 2 (08:55):
You need tickets for the vi P experience. Yeah, yeah, sure,
your fingers again, John, Wayne, let's go, John, let's go. No,
you know what we need to do. No, you know
what we need to do is we need to start
sending Austin Montgomery out with a microphone. Yes, would be
the perfect person to do for this. Austin Montgomery, what
do you want to Chewbacca outfit? Absolutely? I mean almost no, no, no, no, no,
(09:18):
it's twenty twenty three, baby, what Let's put him in
a wonder Woman outfit because listen, he's gender fluid. He
took his wife's last name. It's right, Austin Montgomery, Katina,
Katina Montgomery. I'll know which direction I think we do
send someone. We have to send someone to this thing.
I might even go.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
That's January ninth, by the way, Expo Center over by
the airport.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
All right, I wonder if does this ever go on?
Like because you know he memorize these movies like Superman
and Batman and Star Wars. You didn't never act out
scenes like right in the hallway of the Chine where
they are trying to get the sort of truth with
a cloak.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Of a well, the like the like the Darth Vaders.
Try to not be in the same areas. Right, I've
been to one where literally going up the escalator was
twenty full stormtroopers.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Did you play the full outfit? Did you get her
on your phone and play the talk about kid? You
know they got a jam walk around with that, yes, right, I.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Mean it was like twenty of them coming up the escalators.
You're like, what is happening?
Speaker 2 (10:26):
A little kid and you dresser up as Joha, and then.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Of course there's always a hot girl that just is
up like Princess Leiah, and all of the nerds are
losing their minds, all right. So Nelson, Michael, Michael, and
Jean Lee.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yes, I have one confidence. You pronounced that right?
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Who is from Venezuela and owner of the Alchemy in Louisville.
He's the owner there of that business, says quote on
the attack on the country, The arrest is a step
towards freedom. We feel so happy and blessed and thankful
to the government of the United States and the President
Donald Trump to help our country to be free.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
End quote.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
With his Venezuelan flag standing close from a WDRB article,
Nelson shares full support of the United States overnight attack
on Venezuela and the capture of Maduro. Here in America,
Nelson speaks freely about his disapproval from Adua's leadership, something
he couldn't do in his homeland. So we'll see how
(11:29):
it plays out and where we go with that. I
wonder how many Venezuelan families moved back. Yeah, you gotta
see how it's in the dust settles though.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Right, that's a great question. It really.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Of the population moved. They came to America. I went
to Spain or wherever. Now you're thinking, do they If
there's a democratic whatever led Republic of Venezuela, then you
would think, okay, we're moving back.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
You got to think they're homesick. They're looking at it
and and hoping the dust settles a country. Yeah, yeah,
all right, summer it is, it's in our back door.
The winter, it's in our back door. And look, the whole.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
South America, Central America is like an out of control,
uh college party gone wrong. Okay, Kegs are being thrown
out the top windows.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
All of a sudden. I'm interested in Venezuela. Thank you.
Mister George Bush doesn't care about black people. It's not true.
It's not true. I got three words for you, Condor
Leisha Rice. There's two words, mister President. Two words, all right.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Klondike Lane that used to be a fantastic working class neighborhood,
Is it not anymore? Four people were injured after a
shooting early Sunday morning inside Lenny's Lounge in Louisville'sklondak neighborhood.
Matthew Sanders, our buddies, Matt Sanders, need we need him
on this this week we start calling us, huh do it?
(13:17):
Should we?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
I know he's avoiding you as much as me.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Yeah. A spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police said officers responded
to Lenny's Lounge thirty seven hundred block of Klondac Lane.
This is like two blocks from the Golden New Jet
about five fifty five thirty two am. Well, there you
go on a reported shooting four people, chaotic, saying two
adults were shot. According to police, two more victims were
(13:42):
self transported local hospitals. Those are the smart ones you're
not waiting for that drive me to the hospital. The
victims included three young adults ages eighteen to twenty one,
and a seventeen year old. Ah No, that whole area
was Yeah, Hike's point is this. That's great areas of
heightst point. But there's some dicey ones too in Klondyke Lane.
(14:05):
It's always been a tough neighborhood, but lately come on,
so we've got a lot to get to, including stories
from where we've missed. The last couple of weeks, new
laws have gone into effect on the first. We're going
to talk about all those and get ready for those.
You're paying less in Kentucky state taxes three point five
(14:29):
now down from four and they eventually want to get
to zero. Right, Yeah, so I think we might if
do you know anyone that's Foks and Frankfurt?
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Uh? Yeah, gotta know somebody in the General Assembly. Yeah,
I will figure somebody out.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Yeah, and I will admit that this. I didn't get
to do this on the Christmas thing.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I am an awful person. Yeah, we know that. Yes,
too long of a pause. I shouldn't pause there. I
shouldn't pause there. Uh that too.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Can tell a quick joke before you get to that. Yes,
bear walks into the No what okay? Okay? Bear walks
into the bar, says, get me a No One tequila
partaner goes why the big palls? He goes, I'm a bear.
(15:24):
Big pause.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I can't wrap presents very well. You look like a
serial killer. It looked like Edward scissors hands.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
I gave him years ago. You get the bag and
you get to tell you I want to go.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
I made a commitment to instead of giving everyone cash
this year, I said, I'm not doing that. I'm gonna
get people presents.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
And I did.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I went out and shopped and got people presents. I
might not do it next year, but this year I
did it.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Did you give them get for seats? A hope? Because
I've seen your present picking here, Dwight, here's a Ralph
Floran turtleneck. What what am I supposed to do with this?
Speaker 1 (16:00):
I think you would look good internal next But I
cannot wrap presents. And I thought, how hard could it be?
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Kidding me? Just own it, give it to him in
the end.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
But you just started wrapping the damn thing in Scott's tape.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Well, yeah, that's what I do, man, because here's the thing.
People take like an hour forty five to get the
corner straight and look how sharp it is, and people
just rip it open right Right's point?
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Yeah, Well there's no question you can look under the
tree and know which ones I wrapped. It's just like
the ones that looked like a four year old did it.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
It's the same with me. Yeah, that's why I just
quit doing it. The easy as you think. And then
I watched what did I do? I go to YouTube.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
I was like, I want to be better at this,
and we do it to YouTube and they have the
here's the trick to wrapping presents.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
None of those things work. I'm like a termite and
Christmas is would here's what I mean?
Speaker 3 (16:49):
You know.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
So we go into Christmas, I'm getting married and eventually
I kind of let's phase out giving gifts to each other, honey,
And we always go out to the in laws on
Christmas Eve, and we used to there was like a
twenty dollars limit and basically everybody's like passing the same
twenty dour gift everybody. So one year I proposed, hey,
instead of everybody just wasting twenty dollars, can we quit
(17:12):
giving gifts? And then that went away. He's like the
quiet grinch. Oh, I'm a common sense grinch because I'm
spending twenty dollars anything on Christmas for each oldren. Well,
I'll just saying I'm spending twenty bucks on my sister
in law Cathy, giving her an Iron Maiden T shirt.
(17:33):
Giving stuff to each other. What makes sense? This is
why he took off for two weeks he's just depressed
during Christmas. He can't holiday happiness. Oh there's our fun
for me? No, all right, sure, break, we'll come back.
Who do we have coming up next? Scott Reid's coming on.
We're gonna talk things Liutle of Kentucky. Right now, I

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Anything, you're consistent. Welcome back News Radio eight forty whas
Tony and Dwight Show, brought you by the Kentucky Office
of Highway Safety. Let's talk about the new year and
what's going on in the city.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Hey, counselman, how are you doing. Scott Reid? How are you?
I'm doing very well. Dwight har are you? How's the
leg It's doing good? Look at you? Look at a kick,
go back and forth seeing an amazing Hey, let's speaking
of rock and roll. You're in a rock band. You
are ever gonna play out the Yeah? So I've been practicing.
I see you like on Facebook. You put your practices
up right. Well, we broke up.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
We played for the Way, hang on On. We have
Melody Resurrections the name of the band. We played for
ten years. We played some of the best venues, Abbey Road,
on the River, Yeah, River Stage, we played Highview Music Fest.
We played everywhere, and then right at the onset of COVID,
we all decided to take a break. And the break
lasted five years.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
You're like a lot of people. That's right.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Here's the thing that we have reunited a new couple
of new members, both younger than us. So under thirty
years old, great great musicians.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Yeah, okay, under thirty years old. That's the key because
let me tell you, playing in a band and playing
a gig out at at your age, yes, I know.
The next stay is gonna suck. Because people about all
kinds of friends and bands were like, hey, come see
us so this week I'm like, yeah, what time you
start now? Thirty? I'm like no, what?
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Oh my Paris Hilton, well as as who told us
that the average name average age of someoney in a
band is fifty six years old. I don't doubt that, Mark, Mark.
This is what's okay. Let's talk to the city man.
What you want you there's a million directions we can go.
You jump out, Well, I got a direction speaking of
live music. Great place is Captain's Quarters.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
Yeah open right, yeah, So River Road is now fully open,
and as everybody knows, it was closed for a year
the original time frame. This was for that residual water project.
The original time frame was two years, and it got
off to a slow start in terms of the communication
with the community. But I worked very strongly and closely
(22:08):
with the water company and with Louiso Metro to really
enhance and get communication out. So thanks to louis a
water company, they have opened a year early. So I
would encourage everybody to get out there and support those
restaurants because it absolutely did affect.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
You did a great job. Though.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
You did a great job because I remember stopping for
you stopped the construction for a bit because it was
there was too much going on. You had the VA
Hospital mess and that was feeding into that and people
just didn't know where to go. So you stopped it
for a bit and then you restarted. That was communication,
That was people working together where they weren't working together before.
(22:49):
That's why it caused the problem.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
A great job, Thank you very much, Thank you well.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Credit goes to public Works, it goes through KYTC, and
it goes to the water company. So I'm very happy
now that the road is completely open, and that should
east traffic on forty two going toward downtown as you're
running into that major intersection and that that road construction.
So that's one thing I wanted to say, get out,
please patronize these yes on.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
The heels of the flood, by the way, Yes, well,
not to mentionine.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Here's the thing. Here's the deal River Road. The businesses
they're great. They're open all year round. They got great entertainment,
great food. But just being up front, they get most
of their business during the spring and summer because of
their location. So now it's more than ever more important
to go in because they need you now, folks, and
it's a great time out there. All those businesses are great.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
So good job on that one, thank you very much.
And that's finished it. And basically what it was is
that the waterways was built in the seventies and they
didn't want to wait any longer because it would the
infrastructure would have really started to get bad. So they
changed them out. Good good on the water what they did,
a nice job.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Let's let's talk Safe for Little initiative, because that's a
that's a big deal here and has been for years.
LMPD has been forced to play defense because well, quite frankly,
they've been under staff for a while. That's right, but
things are starting to turn around. Tell us about the
Safer Louisville Initiative. What is it? What's going on?
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Well, the Safer Louisville initiative is a priority project brought
forth by the Minority Caucus of Theluva Metro Council, and
there are twelve of us. Number one, I will say
that I'm very, very pleased that our recruit class, we
had a full recruit class for the first time in years. Yes,
that's terrific, And I think a lot of that has
to do with the fact that we increase their pay,
(24:35):
we increase their benefits, and I think we have a
very very good police chief. I think Paul Humphrey is
excellent and I think people the rank and file really
enjoy working with him and working for him. So that's
one thing. One of the things that I think is
imperative to our initiative is getting this juvenile detention center role.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Absolutely, And just to let you know, you.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Know, the closest youth detention center is at Dare County
and that's over an hour away. So if a police
officer has detained a youth, they don't have time to
drive them out there, Okay, so most often they just
release them to the parents, and.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Not often all the time. Yeah, it is one hundred percent.
There's nowhere to take them that was the cause of
the I call it a summer of crime in the
East End.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
It was crazy.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah. So, Uh, the state actually is responsible for the
for youth Detention Center. It's a state functioned so it's
state funded and it was actually in two years ago budget.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
And it's still not open. No so, and we've got
a year to go. And we still got a year
to go. Oh well, hang on it are you telling
me government is running slow on a project?
Speaker 1 (25:41):
But Frankfortid ear mark sixty million dollars for this project,
and why are they have they slow walked this thing?
Speaker 2 (25:47):
It seemed like they have. I'm not going to say
they have.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
It seems because construction is difficult.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
I get it. Well, the operations sure for sixty million,
you I could YouTube it go ahead.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Well, it shouldn't be. It shouldn't take this long. So,
you know, you get conflict the information. Who's baby who?
But at this point, let's just get the darn thing open,
and I think that will go a long way to
solving some of the some of the issues that we have,
uh in the city. Another thing that I think is
very very important is we need to be paying attention
to the judges that we elect.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
Oh my gosh, and I know you are running down.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
I mean I'm saying, I'm saying to the obvious, but
we are working on a scorecard.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Four judges, Oh my gosh, talk about something that will
be absolutely terrific. We had one bonehead judge, uh call
the mother of the offender and say should I release
your child or you do you want him to go
to prison? We had an idiot judge sitting in Louisville
that did that. Here's the problem with the justice Hall
(26:48):
of Justice. It's set up for whatever reason, these judges hate.
They hate the victim with a passion, and they a
door and they love all of these criminals. They have
a love affair for these violent criminals like I've never
seen in my life. Most, not all, but most of
the judges in Louisville. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Well, I think that it's high time that judges be
held accountable for the for the record. And you know, unfortunately,
and I will, I will, I will confess that I
probably in the past, like most people, haven't paid as
much attention to judicial voting records as I probably should.
But this is going to be made public and people
(27:30):
really need to stop and pay attention to the person
rather than the last name. Perhaps that may have some
name recognition or somebody that had effect we.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
If you ask me though, Countsman Scott read, we need
help within the Hall of Justice because you'll have a
bonehead judge makes some stupid, stupid decision and release it
yet another violent criminal out on the streets, and then
the Hall of Justice is like a show game trying
to find out which judge did it. I have a
a I'll go ahead and name or name Natalia Martinez
(27:59):
with waves. She's one of the best exposing horrible judges
in Louisville. This poor woman has to set for six
eight hours and dig through crap because they hide it.
They hide information from us.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Well, you bring up a very good point. People need
to pay attention before they walk into the voting booth,
and they've got to know the names. And I'm glad
that you've coming up with the list. Michael Connell's last year, right,
so he'll be out. There'll really a new attorney attorney
in different counties, so that that could change things too,
and that'll be important to who that person is, too.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Right, And I just think that's imperative. You know a
lot of these judges are fresh, don't have the judicial experience,
or don't don't have the prosecuted prosecutorial experience or the
defense experience to be to be judges. That's my opinion.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Well, Scott, here's here's something that I just want him
to show up because they're now at a thirty to
forty percent rate of each day of the judges showing
up to work. Yeah, so I would let's start with
them actually showing up for work and then we'll move
from there. But that that is, uh, that is I'm
(29:07):
glad you're coming up with a scorecard, and I hope
people pay attention. And when you get that scorecard, Scott,
we will put that out over the.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Are it's it is being worked on. I can tell
you that that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
What else you got in the budget looks good. Greenberg
is working well with you guys on Project you know.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
He h Like I've said previously on this show, he
works much closer with the OAR Caucus than the primary
ever did.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Shocker So and the market the mop bucket would do
better than mayor mob bucket. Yeah, I'm sorry to all
mob buckets out there.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Yeah, the bar, the bars was pretty low. I will
grant you, but I can call Mayor Greenberg. He'll return
my phone call. Certainly, there are policy differences occasionally, but
he I think is is committed to to public safety
into working with us. There are some things that we
discer with regard to affordable housing, well, putting housing where
(30:04):
you don't have the proper infrastructure. I mean, I think
we all want affordable housing, but we all want it
where there's you know, where there's good in out bus lines, jobs,
et cetera. It doesn't make any sense to put it
out in a farm pasture somewhere where.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
It's well most and we're dealing with that in Saint
Matthew's too, and a certain extent. Right, So there's some
projects where like most ninety percent of the people are like, yeah,
something belongs there, but that doesn't fit. I mean, just
can you do something with it. Most people don't mind progress.
No progress is fine, but it's got to fit the neighborhood.
It's got to fit what we want. And you know,
(30:37):
people that have been there for generations for sure. Sure,
but yeah, those are a lot of great things.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
I thought. So twenty twenty five good year for us
in Louisville, Oh.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
I think it was a very good year. You know,
you've got businesses that are coming in. You have GE
General Electric Hair that's bringing in eight hundred jobs from overseas. Yeah,
I mean these are China. It's with the irony here
is it. Hair's is a Chinese company?
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Correct?
Speaker 3 (31:02):
It owns GE so they're bringing in uh production lines.
I was part of that grand opening or the dedication.
That's that's excellent news. So yeah, it's it's been a
good year. I think our crime is trending down, certainly
a lot to work on. There's there's crime in the
in the suburbs, there's break ins. Here's what I will
tell people if if you have if somebody has has
(31:25):
invaded your your car, if they've they've robbed you or whatever,
report it because LMP business does not know what to
do unless it has been reported. Do not and I'm
going to state some simple things here. Do not leave
your driver or your your wallet, a weapon, a computer,
anything valuable in the car. And by for God's sake,
lock your car door.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
That I installed the biggest night light for my garage.
Top of my garage. I had just a light bulb
and I replaced it with this two million lights. If
you can see it from space, it looks like shots
you lights something my whole driveway, and I know my
neighbors like what that keller the Venetti's doing.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Across the street. They can't sleep a wink at night
and black hock.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
I installed the most insensor lights on the on the
picket fence that lead up.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I did all that. But here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
I because my back window got smashed. And then two
weeks later my my wife's window got smashed and they're
looking for guns. But now I'm debating, do I leave
it open? Maybe they won't smash the window right because there's.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Nothing in it. I used to leave my car door
over right.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Yeah when you lived in on Dixie Is Yeah, yeah,
I looked it open. That's what I debate them, like,
shuld I leave it open?
Speaker 2 (32:38):
There's nothing in it? I mean I that's what I did, right, Yeah.
So you know what I did is I got the
club and I put the club. I remember the club. Yeah,
I put the club. They're not going anywhere with my
my car accounts. When Scott Reid, all right, wrap it
up in sixty seconds? Man, what are you proud of?
Were you looking forward? To in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Well, number one, I'm eager to get started on next
year's budget.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
You know, here's another thing I will I will ask people,
you know, if you see areas of the city we've
we've allocated over thirty million dollars in paving, and I
know infrastructure is not a very sexy thing to talk about.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
What people care about those potholes are, that's right.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
So if you see something, call three to one one,
call your your metro office because public works can't be
everywhere at one time, and in ninety nine percent of
the time they will run people out and they will
they will fix it a pothole pretty quickly. And roads,
road construction, road paving. That's all based on a rating system.
But we don't know every every street as well. So
(33:41):
you be in contact your your council people. They love
hearing from constituents.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
I think a good measuring stick is quality of life overall,
school's crime, jobs, all that in the city of Louisville,
the quality of life.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
For low villions.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
I think you're doing a good thing to try to
get those that quality of life up. I think that's
the measuring stick for all of us really, and you
can only do so much every year in twenty twenty
six is on, So Scott get back to work.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Thank you very ych Thank you Tony.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
