Speaker 1 (00:01):
Shrock Innovations presents the midwest number one independent computer repair
company with service centers and Lincoln pall Maha, Papillion Des Moines,
and across the country via the Shrock Desk. This is
Compute This.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Good morning, folks, and welcome in to Compute this. My
name's Thor Schrock. I'm the owner of the Shrock Innovations
computer company. And wow, things are flying around at Shock
right now. You know, it's always this way toward the
end of the year, right, We're we're getting to that
point now where you know, I had this the sit
down with my Papillion staff. Papillion is where we build everything.
(00:37):
All the computers, all the holiday specials, they all get
built there. And I said, all right, guys, every single
box that you see here with a work order on
it is somebody's Christmas gift. So you got now what
ten days? I'll call it nine because Christmas Eve doesn't
really count. You got nine days. Yesterday was ten, of course,
(00:57):
but now you have nine days to build everything. You
can build it, and that's not nine days. Just you
don't have nine days because you have to get it
to the service center and then they have people have
to pick up their stuff and so you got maybe
seven days. Okay, so let's go. And so you know,
I was it was all hands on deck. It was
you know, remember back back in the day when Tesla
was in trouble and Elon showed up to help build cars.
(01:20):
I don't know if Elon actually was helpful in the
physical process of building the vehicles or if he just
got in the way, you know, but I'd like to
think that I was helpful. You know, customers are out
front like, wow, you guys even got literally you guys
even got thor eyer out. They're building right now. I'm like, yeah,
it's it's that time of year, guys, so every everybody's building. Yeah,
we cracked out, I think on uh On Saturday, we
(01:43):
finished twenty two holiday special laptops on a staff of
three people, which doesn't sound like a lot for a
productivity for three people, but that's a lot of laptops
with all the different customizations and build requirements and software
requirements and things that people need. And we're getting those
transferred out to the service centers so they can do
your data transfers and get those things finished so that
(02:03):
then you can take it home and enjoy it for
the holiday season. This coming week, we'll be working on
the desktops getting those caught up and ready to go
as well. So if you do have an outstanding holiday special,
please stand by. It is coming very quickly. We're working
at full tilt to get them to you. Also, the
core upgrades, oh my gosh, last week. If you missed
the program last week, you can catch it over at
Shrock Innovations dot com. Click on radio show that all
(02:25):
the previous shows are posted. But you know, I told
you the story a week ago. Meet It was two
weeks ago about Kyle and the Lincoln Service Center said,
you know, hey, boss, you know we've got this thing
we're doing for core upgrades on previously owned holiday specials.
Why don't we open it up to anybody that's got
a modular computer. The parts are the same, it's just
you know, if you have an ultimate upgrade from twenty fifteen,
(02:47):
all of a sudden you can breathe new life into
it and continue using it going forward. And I thought
we thought about it because you know, our biggest concern obviously, guys,
was you know, we don't want to cannibalize the holiday specially,
and we sell out every year. We want to continue
that trade. You know, we want to sell out, and
we're on track to do so. You know, still at
this point, we're still we haven't got the number of
large orders that we normally expect to get from our
(03:08):
shock business clients. You know when at the end of
the year they look at their books and they're like,
oh my gosh, we got to spend Like if we
don't spend the ten grand, then we have to pay
it in taxes, so let's go ahead and buy ten
computers or something. You know, it gets crazy at the
you know, the last week of the year. So we
do sell out every year. But we were a little
worried that if we do these core upgrades, people will
just choose to upgrade their older computers rather than purchase
(03:30):
a new holiday special, right, And so you know, we
sat and we thought about it, and we said, okay, Kyle,
you try it out in Lincoln. And he tried it
in Lincoln for a couple of weeks, just on a
case by case basis. Customer came in, happened to come
in for a maintenance check up or something. He's like, hey,
did you know that for eight hundred and fifty dollars.
We can make your computer essentially Holiday Special speed, and
they're like, oh, maybe I should just buy a Holiday Special.
(03:51):
Then Kyle's like, well, Holiday Special is like seventeen ninety nine,
so you know, it's a lot cheaper to use what
you've already got. Just have it upgraded and we can
put in a extended warranty on it, and it's basically
like a new computer. At that point, you got the warranty,
you got the AI speed, everything else that you're gonna
do with it. We knew that we were going to
have some people that take us up on the offer.
(04:12):
I had no idea it would be more people than
have purchased the Holiday Special. So far this year it
has been like shockingly busy, Like why haven't we done
this for years? Busy? Maybe that's why it's so busy
because we've never done it before. But for those of
you who missed the show last week, and we have
some new listeners here this week with us. Because of
(04:33):
the sporting events in Des Moines, we are in a
different time slot today than we normally are, so some
of you in Des Moines may have never heard the
program before and you're like, what in the world is
a holiday special. We're gonna get to that in just
a second and tell you all about that and what
this upgrade means. Also, if you missed the show last week,
we told you about why the US government wants you
to talk with unbreakable encryption now on your messaging apps.
(04:54):
Remember when the government didn't want you to use unbreakable encryption,
or maybe you were a terrorist if you he was discord,
like you know, the the Trump shooter, he had an
encrypted messaging app on his computer. Yeah, it's called discord.
Everybody's got discord, any bolt. I shouldn't say everybody. Everybody
who plays games has discord. People in the studio are
raising their hands right now. I have discord. You're a
(05:15):
Russian asset. You don't even like Russia. It's amazing. Last
week we told you about AT and T killing off
the copper landline. The copper is expensive, the thieves steal
it and it doesn't work so hot. Meanwhile, Elon says,
sounds good to me. Let's discount Starlink. So they have
the Starlink mini package that you can use to get
broadband access for like fifty bucks a month from satellite.
(05:35):
It's pretty crazy stuff, the way that the technology is
changing around the world right now and changing our worlds
at the same time. Four zero two five five, eight
eleven ten is the number to join us on the
program eight eight eight two five zero two zero nine
to one if you're outside the metro area, as we
do every week. At the end of the program, will
draw one winner to win a twenty five dollars Shraw
Innovations gift certificate. You can put it toward anything you want.
(05:58):
It will give you a call, will add it to
your show account, so it's there and waiting for you.
When you decide there's something that you want to purchase.
You'll have that twenty five dollars in the bank already.
All you have to do is call four zero two
five five eight eleven ten or eight eight eight two
five zero two zero nine to one, ask a question,
make a comment, tell us about your experience in the
service center. Just be a part of the show in
some way and you can get in that drawing there
(06:19):
as well. If you are watching right now at Facebook
dot com slash Shrock Innovations, welcome aboard there. We've got
our residents of Schrockville. I didn't name it. They named
it over there. I did an audio check this morning
before we started the show, because you know, Lovely Climberly
is on vacation this week, and you know, Winston, I
don't know, man, you let me go like twenty minutes
last week before you said to Thor there's an audio problem.
(06:41):
Winston is the unofficial audio engineer of Shrock Innovations and
resident of Shrockville. But anyway, we are broadcasting live over there.
You can watch the show. If you are watching on Facebook,
please click like, Please click share helps us get that
program out there. If you're watching on YouTube, Rumble or
any of the other podcasting services, same thing. Likes it,
like it, share it, subscribe it, ring the bell, do
all the things and you won't miss a bit of
(07:02):
content coming out. We've got some exciting things planned for
next year as well. Program Note there will not be
an aftershock after the show this week. As I mentioned,
the Lovely Kimberly is on vacation this week. She is
doing the It's basically comic con for Hallmark. There's a
show on Hallmark called win Calls the Heart. I have
not watched it. It's a series apparently with many many seasons
(07:22):
and all the This is the first year they've done this.
But Hallmark in Kansas City, a lot of people don't
know that's Hallmarks. Like home city is Kansas City, That's
where they started Hallmark. So Hallmark in Kansas City has
all the stars from wind Calls the Heart there and
they do like a like a weekend or a two
day Christmas event where you stay in the hotel room
and it's decked out like Christmas. There's a Christmas tree
(07:42):
in the hotel room and all this stuff, and then
there's all these meeting greets. It's literally like comic Con
for Hallmark. And so my wife is like, she sends
me this picture of this hunky guy hanging on like
this is that the hot frosty guy. Wait a minute,
what's going on here? You know? So she's having a
great time there with the her and Nana would do
in the Hallmark channel thing that leaves me at home
with the kiddos. Guys, So I got to get home
(08:03):
because I'm on kid duty. So no after shock. After
the show, Scott Vorhes did suggest that I just propped
my phone up in my car as I'm driving and
just do it while I'm driving it's kind of kind
of cold and icy out. I don't know if that's
a great idea, but but meal, we'll see, we'll see
what we can do. We'll see what we can do.
But no after shock after the program today. Also one
(08:24):
of the things that I try to do this every day.
I don't want to bore people, you know, and to me,
it's I've been saying these things show after show after show.
For for me, they they're internalized. They feel like I'm
being repetitive. For a lot of people listening though, especially
people in Des Moines who might be hearing us outside
of our normal scheduled slot. You're getting ready for the
game to come on, You're like, what does this compute
(08:46):
this show? I'm want to tell you about the holiday special?
The holiday special. When you're buying computers, people tend to
buy computers for what they're doing right now. And this
makes sense, right You don't go buy a computer for
something you're not going to do, or you're not doing
or not planning on doing. So you you know, people
will come in all the time and say, I don't
need you know, the fastest thing. I'm not very fast myself,
(09:07):
thor I don't need the fastest computer out there. I
don't need all the bells and whistles, you know. And
what you don't realize is that the things that are
bells and whistles today five years from now, are going
to be you know, common system requirements, minimum system requirements now.
Most people, though, also don't realize that the computers. When
(09:30):
you buy a Dell or an HP or a box
store computer, you're not going to have it for five years.
Those days are gone. If you still have a computer
that you bought five years ago from a box store,
they don't build them like they used to. Guys. Eighteen
months is the average. Some people get longer, some people don't.
Eighteen months is the average that you keep a Dell
or an HP laptop or desktop, or you know, or
(09:51):
a Sony vo or a Samsung or you know, whatever
brand you buy. They're all the same. They're all made
from the same factory parts essentially, you know, the same.
Taiwanese companies make all the motherboards for all computers, even
Shock modular builds. Motherboards are made in Taiwan. You can't
buy motherboards not made in Taiwan. But the difference when
you buy a Shock computer is you can get four
to six years out of it. Why is that? Why
(10:13):
is it that you get so much more time in
a shock built computer than you would in a box
store computer. Well, one example, it takes about one hundred
and forty watts to power a desktop computer minimum, so
manufacturers will put in a one hundred and sixty wa
power supply call it good. The second you put more
memory in there or another hard drive. If you can't
even put another hard drive in it, or more memory
(10:35):
in it, or if you upgrade the processor, which you
normally can't do, but if you did, you wouldn't have
enough power to push it. Now. The other problem that
you have is over time computer components. They don't just die.
It's not like you're It's like, okay, so one day
you go out to start your car and you push
the button er, you turn the key, and it doesn't
start the day before it started, and then for some
(10:56):
reason today the part failed, boom done sudden. Computers don't
usually fail that way. They usually fail very gradually. So
this is why we have you coming in for maintenance
checkups every six months on your computers, guys, because when
your hard drive starts to slow down. That is a
precursor indicator that it is gonna fail. That one day
you're gonna push the power button on the computer and
(11:17):
it's gonna say no hard drive found, and then you're
gonna have that small heart attack about do I have
a backup? Do I have my data where all my
kids' pictures?
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (11:24):
My gosh, this is terrible, and then you end up
in the data recovery lab. But if we can catch
it early by scanning the computer and a maintenance check up,
for example, we can save you a lot of trouble,
a lot of time, and a lot of money. Shock
builds come with a four hundred and fifty watt power supply.
You only need one hundred and forty, but we give
you four hundred and fifty. Why do we do that?
(11:45):
The power supply wears down over time. If you've ever
had Dell's support when your computer won't turn on and
you call them and they're like, you know, have you
tried unplugging it and plugging it back in again? And
you're like, okay, so why would that work? Well? It
drains the passitors in the power supply and then charges
them back up again. Works for a week or so
gets you off the tech support line, gets you out
(12:05):
of the warranty period, and then it can fail hard
and you can replace it by a new one. But
at Shock they last so much longer. And one of
the reasons we have customers who are using our computers
in some cases a decade or more after they bought
them is because, especially our desktop computers, when we say
they're modular, that's not just a brand. That's not just
(12:26):
you know, something that we made up a cool catchword like, oh,
they're a modular. You know. These computers are completely and
totally upgradeable, Meaning if you got the cheapest computer that
Shock built in let's say twenty fifteen, so nine years
ago you got an ultimate upgrade, it was like a
four hundred and fifty dollars computer, entry level computer. Do
(12:48):
them every spring, kind of the opposite of the Holiday
special actually, which is like the biggest, baddest, best of everything.
If you got an ultimate upgrade in the spring for
four hundred and fifty dollars and twenty fifteen, and you
bring that in now for eight hundred and fifty dollars,
we can put in the ninety seven hundred X processor,
the AI processor that we're putting in the holiday special.
(13:09):
We can put in the DDR five ultra fast memory,
and we can switch out the motherboard to give you
that new AM five motherboard that powers all the processors
of the future. And all of a sudden, this computer
that you spent four hundred and fifty dollars on in
twenty fifteen for eight fifty more is essentially a holiday special.
The holiday specials an eighteen hundred dollars computer, and you
(13:30):
did not spend eighteen hundred dollars to do this. That
is why this has been such a popular offering. I
think it's one of those rare times. In let's face it,
when has anything this year been cheaper? They inflation numbers
just came in and guess what, everyone celebrate popped the
quarks and lower the rates because we're only three percent
more expensive than we were this time last year. Wooo baby,
(13:51):
they only stole three percent of my net worth this year.
I feel so blessed. Hashtag blessed baby. Oh thank you Gary,
Gary Gensler, not Gary Saddlemeier. That's different. Gary doesn't take
three percent of your net worth now, He's much more
generous than that. Oh boy, I'm gonna get in trouble.
But but no, the long and the short of it, guys,
is that this is an incredible offer and that's why
(14:14):
people have been taking advantage of it. But one of
the biggest challenges, one of the biggest hurdles that we have,
is when I tell you this is this is an
AI capable computer. It can do all the AI things.
It's got the AI chip, it's AI AI AI. You
know thor it's a buzzword. You know, great, you know
I'll buy more in video stock. But you know, I
don't really care about AI. I'm not doing anything with it.
(14:34):
And a lot of people say I don't want to
do anything with it. I don't want to do self checkout,
I don't want to use the ATM, and I don't
want to use AI until you have to do something
that is so mind knowingly stupid that you're like, praise
the sweet baby Jesus that I have AI. Let me
(14:54):
give you an example of what happened to the Lovely
Kimberly this week. So after her long day of hallmarking
it with the stars, she gets back to the hotel
room and she's working on photo books. She does these
photo books you know, for you know, Christmas, or for
gifts or birthdays, where she'd take a year of like
photos with somebody and go through them and you find
all these great photos and capture them and then send
(15:16):
it off to like shut her fly or someplace and
they make a nice, a nice like hardcover book out
of it. It's they're really really good. She'll do this
with our vacations instead of a picture album. It's like
a book, like a like a coffee table book, and
they're just they're amazing. They're not expensive to make, you know,
in reality, when you compare it to like all the
things you'd have to buy to print photos and put
them in like a photo book, it's about the same cost,
but it looks so much better. So she's doing the
(15:37):
layout for this photo book she's working on. I won't
say who it's for, but she's working on one, and
she needs to find all the pictures that she has
of one of our kids with somebody else. She has
fifteen thousand pictures in her iCloud. So do you want
(15:58):
to sit down and go through fifteen thousand pictures? No? Now,
she has an iPhone fourteen. She doesn't have the newest
iPhone AI sixteen. She's got a couple of gen older, right.
Apple Intelligence has some functionality that's being baked in for
all Apple users, not just the iPhone sixteen users. One
of the things she was able to use the Apple
(16:19):
Intelligence AI for was she basically took one photo and said,
this is person A and this is person B. Now
find all other photos in my iCloud of person A
in person B. And it searched through all those many
tens thousand plus pictures and found the forty seven pictures
that she needed for the photo book, and it did
(16:42):
it in about ten seconds. How long would it take
you to go through that?
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Now?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
I get it. A lot of people are like thor
you know, I'm retired, I don't have anything else to
do with my time. Okay, I get it. But still
even if we don't, you know, I don't like gardening.
I don't like My dad made me garden a lot
when I was a kid, Like we the gard you know,
turn the dirt with the pitchfork or do this stuff.
And I just hated it because it was like a
chore I had to do. It wasn't anything enjoyable. It
(17:06):
wasn't like growing the food to sustain yourself and your family,
or being self reliant. It wasn't about any of that.
It was like, I can't go play with Double Dragon
because I have to go out and turn dirt in
the garden and I don't want to do it. Okay,
So to this day, I don't like gardening. My wife's like,
you want to help in the garden, and I'm like,
I love you very much, so I will say yes.
But my heart, I'm screaming no, Lord, no, But I'm
(17:27):
out there pulling weeds and doing it. You know, you
might like going out and pulling weeds all day long,
but if you had something that could just nix all
the weeds in like five minutes so that you could
go on and do something you actually wanted to do
with your life, wouldn't that be great. That's what AI
is going to do for you. It's not going to
revolutionize the world. It's not going to do your dishes
for you. It's not going to vacuum your carpet for you.
(17:49):
It's not going to go drive to the grocery store
for you. But it's going to start creeping its way
into small pieces of your life. Just like the Lovely
Kimberly's photo books. She would have gone through all those pictures.
Previous years she's had to go through all those pictures,
but this time she didn't because she had some AI.
That's one of the ways that's going to creep into
your life too, if you have the technology to do it.
(18:10):
At a twenty fifteen ultimate upgrade, ain't going to cut
the mustard and X six from two thousand and eight.
I am not joking. We just upgraded one of those.
I didn't know how this person was still even using
this computer, but we just upgraded it to a holiday
special essentially, I mean talk about new life. So if
you've ever purchased any modular computer from Shrock ever, keep
(18:31):
in mind through the end of December, you can purchase
one of these CORP grades. You don't have to do
it this month. That's kind of busy right now. I
get that, So you can we can schedule it for
January four zero two five five eight eleven ten eight
eight eight two five zero two zero nine. I'm going
to take our first break of the program when we
come back. This pass Tuesday was Patch Tuesday. There were
seventy patches that were released for your computer. But there
(18:53):
was one really nasty one. Well, it was a good
patch to pass. To patch a nasty bug, We're going
to tell you what it is coming up next on compute.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
This computer problems usually don't just suddenly happen. Most failures
usually start out as small issues with few or no symptoms.
Over time, they grow into error messages, blue screens, and
other problems that can be costly to fix. Shrock innovations
by annual preventative maintenance checkup catches those small problems now
before they can metastasize and become tomorrow's costly repairs. During
(19:24):
the maintenance check up, our experienced technicians perform up to
eight hours of tests, checks, automated repairs, and optimizations that
keep your computer at peak efficiency while identifying potential issues
while you still have options about how to handle them.
When your computer gets its first check up, it can
see up to its twenty five percent performance improvement and
leaves our service center cleaned, sanitized, and running better than
(19:47):
the day you bought it. Just About every complex device
requires maintenance. Your computer is no different, especially considering the
valuable information that passes through it every day. If you
have not had your computer maintenance in the past six months.
You are overdue, stop in or call any of our
service centers to arrange a free pickup to ensure your
computer continues to work for you.
Speaker 6 (20:09):
If you can dream it, Shock Interactives website developers can
make it happen. Refresh your website, automate sales and marketing,
and grow your business today with Shock Interactive.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Have you noticed that almost every piece of technology seems
to do its best to be disposable? Every day, people
tosk their phones, tablets, and other electronic devices because they
can't be repaired. Manufacturers have engineered their products to fail
on a schedule so they can extract more money out
of your family budget automatically every year or so. But
(20:40):
what if it didn't have to be that way? What
if you could get the performance of today's fastest computers
with the expansion and upgrade options you used to enjoy.
You just described Shrock's modular desktop computers. Having the right
tool for the job is important, and Shock's modular desktop
pieces packed the performance and flexibility to handle your your
computing needs, from just checking the email to running a
(21:03):
complex business. Modular desktops are engineered to be easily repaired
with widely available industry standard parts. Every component is selected
intentionally to give you years of upgrade and repair options.
It is not uncommon for a Shrock customer to be
using the same computer for a decade after they bought it.
Modular PCs are the most popular custom computers in the
(21:24):
Midwest for a reason. When you are ready for your
next computer, stop in to check out the Modular lifestyle
or shop online at Shockinnovations dot com.

Now you can configure and purchase laptops, desktops, tablets, and
more all at the new Shockinnovations dot com. Check out

Speaker 2 (21:48):
So one of the funniest things about this, this Hallmark
thing that my wife is at is okay, So I'm
giving her a hard time on like, is that hot
Frosty hanging on you? What is this? What's going on here?
And She's like, the funniest thing about this is like
the husbands that are here with their wives because you know,
the husband's just got dragged along to the Hallmark win calls,
the heart cast sessions and whatever, and the husbands are like, hey,
(22:11):
is that that guy from the show? Hey you you
come over? Here. Hey, honky guy, you come here, you
stand with my wife. I'm gonna take your picture, so
she said. The funniest thought about it is the guys,
the husbands getting their wives in the picture with the
honky guys, because that's what the what's what the ladies want,
you see. And the husbands they love their wives and
they understand that. Four is it. You know what your
wife wants? She wants a holiday And I'm just kidding.
(22:32):
Four zero two five five eight eleven ten is the
number to join us on the program. Eight eight eight
two five zero two zero nine one. Before we jump
into this wonderfully exciting world of patches for Windows, let's
get into the phones real quick here, Paul, welcome to
the program. How can I help you today on compute this?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Good morning, Thank you taking my.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Call, No sweat, thanks for calling.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
I have a couple of questions about external storage devices
for backups. Yeah, I've been using the large capacity thumb drives,
but then I've also got some solid state drives, and
I've actually got one or two of the old rotatium
mechanical hard drives for backups, and I'm just wondering of
those three types, which ones would you say retain data
(23:18):
the longest or which ones are the safest?
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Gotcha? All right? So number one, backups are backups, and
so they are not primary storage. So any external drive
no matter, I don't care if you have reels of
tape running in the background, you know, like it was
old to old computers with the real to real tape. That, yeah,
I don't care. What it is. A backup is a
(23:42):
second copy of your data, not a primary copy. So
it doesn't matter how long this suffolds your data because
if it fails, you'll just get another one. You don't
care because it's a backup. That's the point. Now. The
problem that we have in the data recovery lab every
single day, and I'm not joking, every every single day
we have somebody coming in with an external hard drive
(24:03):
who had an iMac or something, had an all in one,
They had some kind of computer or a laptop that
they ran out of space on their hard drive, and
so then they started augmenting their storage. They started adding
storage by getting these external drives. So first off, starting
with the mechanical ones, because those are the most common
and they're also the most common to fail. They're extremely fragile,
(24:23):
if you pound your fist like, okay, you all listening
to the radio. Now, if you hear that I just
killed a rotating hard drive, that's the sound of a
rotating disc hard drive dyeing. Pound your fists on your desk.
That's all it takes. If that drive is on your desk,
you just killed it. If you tip it over while
it's running, it's dead. If you drop it while it's running,
it's dead. If the cat jumps across the desk and
(24:45):
kicks it over, it's dead. All these things happen. If
your kids are running around and they trip over the court,
it's dead. So when you're using those as primary storage,
it's heartbreaking because they die a lot. Now next you
can get into the solid state versions of these drives.
These are going to be the most reliable externals. That's
why all the externals that we sell at Shrock now
(25:06):
are external solid state drives. There are no moving parts.
You can pound on the desk to your heart's content.
You know, you can have all kinds of you. You
can be the crazy cat lady with fifty seven cats
jumping across the desk. You know you can count them
as you go to sleep at night, whatever you want
to do. If they kick over your hard drive, it
doesn't matter. They're physically fine in some cases, even with
your thumb drive. In some cases you can leave it
(25:27):
in your pants pocket, run through the washing machine and
the dryer, pull it out and be like, oh no,
it'll still power up. So flash drives are essentially tiny
solid state drives, so they're basically the same technology. So
if I was going to pick one for an external
that was I wanted to last as long as possible,
I would pick a solid state drive. Now, the problem
is cost per gigabyte. Solid state drives are more expensive
(25:50):
per gigabyte than rotating disk drives are. You can get
a twelve fourteen to twenty terabyte rotating disc hard drive
for a fraction of the price of what that much
store in solid state would cost you. So then we
come back full circle. We say, this is a backup.
Do you need it to be that reliable? Is it
going to even be powered on all the time? You know,
(26:10):
I remember all those things I said. If the cat
kicks it over while it's running, if it's unplugged, they're
not nearly as fragile. So the challenge then becomes. If
it's a backup, it doesn't really matter what the tech is.
I'm just looking for the cheapest cost per gigabyte, so
smaller backups. Anything up to say two terabytes, I would
go solid state. If you need more than two terabytes,
(26:31):
I would go rotating.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Okay, Well, you sure gave me some good information there.
Speaker 7 (26:38):
I appreciate that very much.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Hey, thank you for the call. That's a great question, Paula.
You know a lot of people, A lot of people
wonder about that because, oh my gosh, number one, how
many people don't have a backup. You know who you are.
I mean, even I don't back up as much as
I probably should. Okay, even me and I want to.
I have you know, I have bitcoin on my computer.
I should probably be backing up a little more often
(27:00):
than you. Okay, I've got a backup, but it might
be a few months old.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
You know.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
I probably I'm gonna go home tonight. I'll do it tonight,
do another one, but mine our full image backup, so
that if I go down, I can just restore everything.
File history backups. The Holiday Special and their Venture computers
all come with internal backup hard drives. You don't have
to have an external drive, it backs up automatically for
zero two five, five, eight eleven ten eight eight eight
(27:25):
two five zero two zero nine to one. Microsoft released
seventy patches for Windows this last Tuesday, so it's if
it seems like it's coming a little bit earlier than normal.
Patch Tuesday is always the second Tuesday of the month,
and this month, the first fell on Sunday, so we've
actually had tomorrow or excuse me, the first fall on Sunday.
(27:45):
So the seventeenth will be the third Tuesday of the month.
So we're already almost a week past when you got
these updates for your computer. So this is about the
time where your computer is going to be like, yo, dude,
reboot me now, or on bouts to reboot myself in
the middle of what you're doing, Like, we need a reboot.
And here's why. There was one massive patch that if
(28:05):
you haven't rebooted, you really need to reboot. This was
a a vulnerability that impacted Windows ten and Windows eleven.
Patches were released for both versions, Windows ten and Windows eleven.
This is why, guys, when Mike, when Windows ten goes
away in October, you're not gonna get these patches anymore
for it. They're not gonna make them anymore for you
(28:27):
now that they'll sell you. Oh, author, can we buy
the patches? If you're a big company, yeah, you can
buy the patches, but you're not gonna want You don't
want to buy Windows eleven. Why would you buy patches
for Windows ten? It doesn't make any sense. So anyway,
if your computer is not Windows eleven compatible, and that's
why you're still using Windows ten, hello, Core Upgrade Special
makes it Windows eleven compatible all new hardware. If we
(28:48):
previously told you that your old computer that's a shock
build can't go to Windows eleven, guess what, Now it
can because of the Core Upgrade Special. It's amazing. So
I digress. Windows ten and Windows eleven both impacted. Basically,
what this vulnerability does is it's a it's a it's
a memory bug, a buffer overflow vulnerability that allows a
(29:10):
hacker or a bad guy to take complete root control
of your computer. Now, you might have system administrator privileges.
You know, you might have admin privileges. You know, you're
pretty pretty big dog in your own computing world. There
this guy has super user privileges. He has more privileges
than you when they When he attacks your computer, he
can do anything to any account anytime, see any data break,
(29:33):
any encryption anywhere on the computer because he has total
access to everything. When you're hit with this vulnerability, it
is actively being exploited right now. So that's bad, that's
real bad. So thankfully there is a patch, and the
patch was released last Tuesday. If you haven't rebooted your
computer since last Tuesday, when you reboot the computer, the
(29:54):
patch will install itself. Everything will be awesome, everything will
be fine. But if your computer is asking you to reboot, please,
so there's a really significant vulnerability that you need to
finish that patch for and it is currently installing on
your computer for zero two five five eight eleven ten
eight eight eight two five zero two zero nine one.
You're gonna take our second break of the program here, Winston, Steve,
stay on the line. Your calls are coming up. Also
(30:15):
coming up on the program, A fun little story. The
Security and Exchange Commission SEC. Gary Gensler is coming after
Elon Musk, like coming after him, coming after X, coming
after Neurlink with demand letters demanding a monetary settlement right now,
(30:41):
right now, or we're gonna charge you with everything we
can throw at you before Biden leaves. So what's going on,
what's the motivation, why is it happening? And is he
gonna pay the tab? We'll tell you coming up next
on compute.
Speaker 5 (30:55):

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Wow, we got the beats this morning. Where does this
music come from? Hey, don't look at me. I'm just
the guy that presses the button. You're a bureaucrat. I
didn't do it. I didn't do it. Well, it's not
my job. My job is just to execute the the
plans of Gary Gensler I'm not. I'm not the one
(33:03):
that's actually going after Elon. I just mail the papers
to him, okay, and the guy before me, he just
prints the papers, and the guy before him, and so
on and so forth up the food chain. Welcome back, folks.
You're listening to compute this if you couldn't tell, four
zero two five to five eight eleven ten is the
number to join us on the programmer eight eight eight
two five zero two zero nine one if you're outside
the Omaha metro area really quick. We've talked already on
(33:27):
the program today about the Holiday special. Time is running
out on these guys. The quantities are getting low. The
core upgrades have not really impacted the sale of the
Holidays Special units themselves, especially the laptops, because you can
only do core upgrades on the desktop. Therefore, the sales
are going They're going crazy. Carolyn and round Rock, I
know you're listening right now. I personally built your computer,
(33:49):
so yeah, I built yours, and we're gonna we're getting
it all as ready for your data transfer, everything, and
we're gonna ship it down to you in Texas. So
I thought maybe I should start signing the inside of
the lids on these before you. I one'll ever know
unless you take the lid off and then you're like, oh, look,
Lord built this one. But I thought I should start
doing that and then just like not say anything. But
then I just said something. Wouldn't that have been cool?
Like five years from now, I'm like, hey, maybe if
(34:11):
you take the side panel off your computer, if my
initials are on it, there you go. Actually, Carolyn, I
think I did sign the inside of your computer just
for fun. But anyway, four zero two, five, five, eight
eleven tens number to join us on the program. So
real quick, let's go into those phones. Winston, You've been
real patient with us. How can I help you today?
And compute this morning? Or good morning sir.
Speaker 7 (34:32):
Yeah, I want to let you know that Kyle took
really great care of my keyboard when he updated it
for me.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
He updated your keyboard.
Speaker 7 (34:41):
Yeah remember a while back?
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Oh he replaced it.
Speaker 7 (34:45):
Yeah. I had an expensive synthesizer that oh real.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Technical like tickle the ivories kind of keyboard. Okay, yeah,
that kind there we go. Yeah, okay, I was like
he upgraded. I mean, yeah, I'll go along with it.
But I don't really know of any patches for keyboards.
You know.
Speaker 7 (35:03):
No, see now people know that you guys can do
more than just computers. Y, which space for that keyboard
is a computer? I mean that's all it is. It
just has Ivory keys too, so it's not real library.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Yeah, well that wouldn't be politically correct anymore. You know, No,
no elephants or anything have to die to make piano
keys anymore. Got that right.
Speaker 7 (35:21):
I don't want to get any phone calls.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
There's a bureaucrat somewhere for that, I'm sure. Oh, Gully
so yeah, so he was able to get it fixed
up for you.
Speaker 7 (35:31):
Oh he was fantastic. Yeah, kind of kind of not
not happy. It was all the way in Lincoln, but
it was well worth it.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Yeah, Kyle. We we actually moved him. He used to
be in the Omaha Service Center. We paid to move
him to Lincoln. He uh, he was showing so much
promise and the Lincoln Service Center. I mean he took
over that shop and literally, I mean, you think you
have a you have a pretty good operation going you,
things are going good.
Speaker 7 (35:54):
He does that place runs like a Swiss swift wash.
It's impressive.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
And now oh yeah now it does. Holy cow, It's
like yeah, I mean before it was kind of a
sakoh you know.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Now now it's like, oh my gosh, and you know,
he's coming up with ideas. And you know sometimes and
you you know, if you've ever owned a business, sometimes
in your employees come up with ideas, you're kind of like,
let's take that under advisement. Sure, thank you, thank you
for your input. We appreciate your your diligent input. But no,
Kyle was really like, you know, hey, I've run the
numbers on this, and this this cor up great thing?
(36:25):
Is it? It costs us the same We have a
lot of customers who would really appreciate it. And I
think if I offered it here in the service center,
I could meet goal a little easier and uh and
hit my bonus a little easier, and I think that
our customers would really love it. Mister Shock, I think
so uh and so yeah, yeah, I was like, okay, Kyle,
you try it out. And all of a sudden, like
(36:46):
the next the next monthly meeting we had, it was like,
and Lincoln is the outperformer of the month. Why did
Lincoln do so good? Why are your ticket averages so
much higher than everybody else's Kyle, They're like one hundred
dollars a ticket higher, like what are you doing? He's like,
we're selling core up grades. Like oh my gosh. Everyone
else at the table is like your what and so
(37:07):
they're like okay, everybody else can do it too now
and then they're like okay, thanks. So I appreciate that,
but no, it was all. It was all Kyle. So
if you do take advantage of this offer, you have
the guy with the beautiful hair and the Lincoln Service
Center to thank for it.
Speaker 7 (37:20):
He does have beautiful hair.
Speaker 6 (37:22):
Hey.
Speaker 7 (37:23):
I also want to let you know about Austin and Patolion.
My laptop it needed a new new battery. It's a
it's a shock laptop. And yeah, he put it in
and got everything working great. And so my question was,
what how do I take care of that new battery?
Do I need to? Because I don't. I don't plug
that computer in all the time. I plug it in
(37:43):
enough to get the Windows updates and everything else, but
I'm not using it on the daily basis.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Right. So it used to be back in the back
in my day. You know, you you had to charge
the battery up to eighty percent, but not too much. Uh,
and then you never want to drain it below twenty
percent not too low. Now it doesn't matter about the
only thing that you can really do to those batteries
to really to screw up a lithium ion battery is
expose it to cold. Don't leave it in the car overnight,
(38:09):
don't leave it in the garage if your garage isn't
temperature controlled. You know, those things will really screw with
a laptop's battery. Heat will also do it, but not
as much as cold. I've had campouts where you know,
I took my cell phone obviously with the camp out,
and then like didn't keep it on my person, and
you know, like with the Scout campouts when my kid,
when my son was in Scouts, and you know, you
(38:30):
get down into the thirties and twenties at night and
the battery I'd wake up in. The battery would literally
be swollen like a pillow. I mean it would just poof.
The back of the phone would be cracked off and everything.
And I'm like, just overnight, so temperature will really do it,
but otherwise there's no special care Winston. I mean, they're
gonna last about eighteen to twenty four months before they
really start degrading to the point where you're gonna want
to look at replacing it again, which is which is
(38:52):
why most people never replace the battery in their laptop
because most you know, box store laptops don't last more
than two years, so you're not replace your battery because
you know you'ren't going to keep the laptop that long.
But when you have that solid state laptop from shock,
it can go four to six years, you're probably gonna
have a battery some point in that time that you're
going to want to replace or or just live with
lower battery life where you know only you know, eighty
(39:13):
percent of the cells in the battery are actually charging
and so it lasts you know, forty five minutes instead
of two hours or something. Uh. But yeah, uh, there's
nothing especially you have to do with it. You just
you just live your best life with that battery. Let
it do its thing, and then if if you still
have that laptop two years from now, we'll talk again
whether the better if you plug it in once or
you never plug it in at all, it'll degrade just
the same in the two year period.
Speaker 7 (39:34):
Okay, Well, thank you and wishing you and your family
and all everybody at Shrock and very merry Christmas.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Merry Christmas to you as well, Winston. Thank you, We
all appreciate it very much. Four zero two, five, five,
eight eleven ten. So Gary Gensler, he's not so jolly
right now. He's coming after Elon. He sends him this letter,
right and Elon, of course, Elon doing the Elon thing.
He posts the letter on Twitter like, here's the copy
of the letter, and underneath it he said, oh Gary,
(40:01):
how could you do this to me? Like he's on
a first name basis with the guy for those of
you who don't know Elon. And the SEC go way back.
They they get into remember when he said the funding
secured onto when it was Twitter back then. And it
turns out that, you know, there was no funding secured
and the Tesla stock price shot to the roof and
it killed all the shorts, and so the SEC was investigating,
(40:23):
did Elon manipulate his stock price? Oh yeah, he's the
only CEO in the world that doesn't job owned to
manipulate his stock price, only one. And so yeah, they
go back and forth, and there was like a settlement
where all of Elon's tweets had to be approved by
a lawyer at Tesla before they could go live, which
is a totally sustainable thing at like two in the
(40:44):
morning when you're tweeting, which he didn't do in the
SEC is like, well, he's in violation now, and so
now you know. Then he wanted to buy Twitter, and
he owned nine point seventy two percent of Twitter. He'd
been buying it on the down low, and he was
trying to try to get a seat on the board
because he was going to try to influence Twitter's position
on freedom of speech, because he saw what was happening
(41:06):
that Twitter was essentially censoring people based on their political viewpoints.
So he thought, if I get enough Twitter stock, if
I get like ten percent of the company, they'll have
to give me a seat on the board if I
demand it. And then with a board seat, I can
take an active role and maybe guiding the company, you know,
back down the right path, back down the freedom of
(41:27):
speech path where it's supposed to be. And then it
became kind of obvious that Twitter was pretty much rotten
to the core, and he ended up buying it for
forty billion dollars because he shot his mouth off. He
was like, I'll buy it, and then all of a sudden,
he was like no, no, no, no, wait wait wait
wait wait, and they're like, oh, you said forty billion.
I heard forty B forty B. Give me the money.
(41:50):
So he did, and then they took the money, and
then he fired eighty percent of the staff. Like the
next week he came to work with a sink in
his arms, and under the caption it said, let that
sink in, like, let it into the building, Let that
sink in, Let it sink in. That I own Twitter
now and now, by the way, we're not going to
call it Twitter anymore. It's X. And oh all this
(42:11):
office space that you had for all these people who
were working from home, we're not going to pay the
mortgage on it, because you know we're X. We're not Twitter.
That was a different company. That company's gone. And I
mean literally it was like chop chop, chop chop. And
all of a sudden, X has AI now to police
and has community notes where the other people in the community.
If you if you want to, if you think something
is not accurate, you can you can put a community
(42:31):
note on it, and if enough people agree with your
community note, it will be published underneath the post, So
the original post stays there, the freedom of speech remains,
but then there's a community note explaining why it may
or may not be true. Well, the SEC says Elon
was too slow in disclosing that he owned nine point
seventy two percent of Twitter when he decided to buy Twitter,
(42:53):
and as a result, they've given him forty eight hours
to pay a settlement amount outlined in the letter big Money.
They send it to him on a Friday night, and
they gave him forty eight hours to pay the settlement
or face charges. So this is ridiculous. You know, number one,
this isn't how the SEC normally operates. They don't they
(43:16):
don't make payment demands on This is like a one
way settlement. This isn't a settlement that Elon agreed on.
The SEC is literally coming up like a gangster in
the night, saying give me all your money or we're
gonna thump you on the nog and bunker. It's what's
gonna happen. So you don't want that happen. Wouldn't it
be a shame you have such a beautiful nog and bunker.
Wouldn't it be a shame if something happened to it.
You know what I mean? This is Gary Ginsler and
(43:40):
all of it is. This is your US federal government
at work. They give him forty eight hours to drop
the envelope in Gary's pocket or get thumped in the
noggin bunker. Well, Elon is not going to drop the
envelope and he's not gonna get thumped either, because there
are certain legal proceedings that have to happen in order
for the SEC to do this kind of thing. They
have to fire all a wells noticed, they have to
(44:00):
do all these other things that take time. Now, the
reason for the forty eight hours wasn't because they expected
Elon to pay. In fact, they know he's not going
to pay, but they need to move the clock expeditiously
so that they can thump him on the noggin bonker
before Trump gets in. So there you go, Gary Gensler
and your SEC. Totally not political, totally not trying to
(44:21):
take retribution on somebody who helped Donald Trump get elected.
Nothing to do with that at all. This is just
the SEC making sure that you, as an investor, know
all the important things you need to know to invest
safely in the United States. Economy four zero two, five, five,
eight eleven tens a number to join us on the
program eight eight eight two five zero two zero nine
(44:41):
to one. Final break of the show, Steve and Carolyn,
your calls coming up next on compute this.
Speaker 5 (44:47):
Everyone has experienced some form of data loss or no
someone who has. It's unfortunate, but sometimes the technology we
rely on simply fails. And the last question you want
to hear at that time is you have a backup
Right when your hard drive, memory card, backup drive, or
flash drive fails, you turn to the data recovery experts
at Shrock Innovations to get those pictures, songs, and memories back.
(45:11):
You know, not all data recovery companies are the same.
Having the right tools and knowledge to get the job
done right on the first attempt makes all the difference
between a successful recovery and the permanent loss of your
important data. Sometimes you only get one shot at a
successful recovery. That's why Shrock has invested in top of
the line recovery imagers, a Class one hundred clean environment,
(45:34):
over ten thousand dollar components, and a staff of recovery
engineers that are the best in the business. SHROC has
a ninety six percent recovery rate getting data back from
failed devices. When the unthinkable happens and you need your
data back, turn to the experts at Shrock Innovations for
professional and affordable data recovery services.
Speaker 6 (45:53):
Shrock Innovations Data Recovery Labs saves the data the other
guys can't.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
The next time your.
Speaker 6 (45:58):
Hard drive, camera card, or flash drive fails, let Shrock
get your data back.
Speaker 5 (46:04):
Laptops are subjected to some of the most stressful computing
situations imaginable. They get dropped, stepped on, flap shut, and
pushed until the battery dies. Sometimes your laptop works hard
for you, so when it has a problem, take it
to the laptop expert that Shrock Innovations. SHROC has four
convenience service centers in Nebraska and Iowa with more than
(46:25):
one hundred total bench spots to get your technology up
and running again. Shrock has the largest supply of replacement
components in stock and we fix more laptops than any
other nearby repair center. Why wait weeks to get your
computer fixed when Shrock can diagnose the problem, provide you
with a friendly and accurate estimate, and fix it, usually
in two days or less. Remember, if you have never
(46:46):
been into our service centers before, new customers get their
first hour of labor free. So the next time your
laptop screen gets cracked, the keys pop off your keyboard,
or your two year old decides a glass of milk
is exactly what your laptop needs to cool off. Take
it to shock and let your local laptop repair experts
get it back in top shape again.
Speaker 6 (47:06):
Today's fragile computers need maintenance more than ever. Your computer
needs a maintenance check up every six months to last
beyond it's eighteen month expected lifespan.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
All right, you guys know what a substack is, right,
It's there's the stack, and then there's the substack. It's
the stack below the stack.
Speaker 6 (47:25):
No.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Substack is a place you can actually where content creators
can create content, write articles. A lot of people who say,
thori you when you do these aftershocks? Where do you
get this information? I subscribe to a lot of guys substacks.
This is content you just can't read free on the internet.
You have to have a subscription. They're super expensive. I
mean to con certain some people subset up they're in
(47:45):
and their economic stuff. You're going to pay ninety nine
dollars a year. I mean, it depends on what you
want to do. But you know, there is no aftershock
after the program today. Just to let you know, But
one of the reasons I bring this up is it's
really interesting. A lot of people on TikTok, a lot
of these TikTok creators built an entire business around tech talk,
have a real fear that this band is going to
happen in April, and as a result, they're starting to
(48:07):
move to substack, which seems like cognitive dissonance, right, Like
you're going from like half naked dance app to quote
the raven you know what, what is happening here by
I We'll get to that in just a second before
we jump into that. Steve, welcome to the program. Thanks
for calling into the show. How can I help you
on compute this today?
Speaker 4 (48:27):
Yes, soor I was we purchased a laptop from your
Lincoln store in twenty nineteen, okay, And of course there's
been a lot of talk about, you know, not being
able to upgrade to Windows eleven.
Speaker 8 (48:39):
Yes, and I know you've been researching that and all that,
and of course your reputation is a build on you know,
making a computer last five to eight years, which because
of the quality and all the upgrades, is that still
the case?
Speaker 4 (48:53):
You know that we won't. Will this just be a
paperweight in twenty twenty five or what can take?
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Well, the devil's in the details. So in October October,
In October October of twenty twenty five, Microsoft is going
to cease all support for Windows ten. That will be
the last patch Tuesday essentially, So then you know into
November November you would get your next patch Tuesday normally,
but there won't be any patches for Windows ten in November.
(49:21):
So after October twenty twenty five, it will become increasingly
risky to use a Windows ten computer going forward. You
also won't be able to buy software for it anymore.
You won't be able to buy anti virus for it anymore,
you won't be able to buy printers for it anymore. Literally,
the whole ecosystem is going to just shut down on
Windows ten. So that doesn't mean like on October twenty.
(49:41):
You know, October first of twenty twenty five, your computer
turns on, and then October second it's going to turn
on just the same and you know it's going to
be just a hair more risky on that second day
to run it than on the first day. But thirty days,
sixty days, ninety days in there there are going to
be vulnerabilities that people are holding back in a avoiding
using because they're gonna wait until Microsoft stops patching and
(50:04):
then they're gonna hit these vulnerabilities and then they're gonna
be everywhere. And so the long in the short of
it is on a laptop, there isn't an upgrade that
you can do to a laptop to make it Windows
eleven compatible. If it's not already Windows eleven compatible. On
a desktop, we can do it all day long, but
on a laptop we can't. Now what's the line. Basically,
(50:25):
what it comes down to is it needs to have
a Trusted Platform Module component at TPM. And TPMs were
introduced in Intel processors in Gen eight, So if you
have an eighth gen Intel processor or newer, you're good
to go. They're on Gen fourteen now, so it there's
a lot of generations there. And AMD you need a
third gen AMD Rising processor or better. So on your laptop,
(50:48):
are you and you have that computer in front of
you right now?
Speaker 4 (50:51):
No, I don't, actually, but and I know you said
there's ways to indicate that it's compatible. Eleven. I think
my wife, she's taken in to your shop, and I'm
pretty sure it's not.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
Gotcha.
Speaker 4 (51:03):
We'll just face the facts and we'll you know, we'll
work with your store on you know, getting ahead of
the game, you know, so you don't everybody at WANTS.
Isn't just all of a sudden we need a new computer?
Speaker 2 (51:15):
Well, you know, And one of the nice things is
we we released our new model line for the twenty
twenty five laptops last month, so all the laptops are upgraded.
All the specs on the website are now upgraded as well.
You know, we always upgrade the models a month or
two before we change the marketing, and then I'd rather
give people more so like, if they're going to buy
the computer, they get a better computer and they're like,
(51:36):
oh that's cool, rather than having someone say I just
bought that yesterday and now today there's a better one.
So the good news is that they're all upgraded, right.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
Just we need to keep in contact with your office
and you know what's happening, how things are moving along,
and it's just inevitable that we have to purchase a
new computer next yearly.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Yep, it's going to be. That's going to be the
case for a lot of people unfortunately. Thank you, Steve.
I appreciate you joining us on the program today. We
got you in the drawing there as well for that
twenty five dollars Shock Innovations gift certificate. Final caller of
the program today is Carolyn. Carolyn, Welcome to the show.
Is this Carolyn from Round Rock, Texas? It is. I
was listening because you know I do it well. I
(52:20):
think I actually think I did sign the inside of
your laptop lid. I think I took a sharpiad I
wrote TS and circled it on the inside like some
day someone's gonna take this apart and wonder why did
he sign that? Well, it goes back. There was a
story when I was building desktops one year for something
and I cut myself while I was building the desktop.
But you know, time is time, so I just keep going, right.
I didn't get a band aid. I just you know,
I'm gen X. We just keep going. And so I
(52:43):
made the joke that, like, you know, so three or
four of these computers have a little four blood in them,
and we actually got calls in the service center, people
asking for those computers with my blood in them, and
it was like it was kind of creepy. So instead
a sharpie's signature is much more appropriate, I think, Carolyn, Yes, yes, yes,
And I also wanted to shout out to Amy.
Speaker 7 (53:04):
I finally put sofolks on my iPhone.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
So she did a great job.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
Awesome, that's always fun to do. Now, scan the QR code, Carolyn,
here you go. What's a QR code?
Speaker 8 (53:14):
That's right?
Speaker 2 (53:15):
All right, Hey, thanks for the call, Carolyn. I appreciate
you joining us on the show today as well. We
got you in the drawing here too. All right, So
if TikTok is banned in the US, it's going to
happen in April, and a lot of these TikTok creators
are actually going over to substack. Why because when you
publish on substack, you control the audience you. In other words,
you can send out information anytime you want and there's
(53:35):
no algorithm that determines when your audience sees it. And
it's kind of refreshing. Actually. The winner today's twenty five
dollars Shock Innovations Give Certificate is Steve. Congratulations no aftershock
after the program today, but I'll see you all next
week for another edition of Compute This
