Speaker 1 (00:01):
Shrock Innovations presents the midwest number one independent computer repair
company with service centers and Lincoln, Omaha, Papillion, Des Moines,
and across the country via the Shrock Desk. This is
compute this.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hello, folks, and welcome in to compute this. My name
is Thor Schrock. I'm the owner of the Shrock Innovations
computer company, where we have four locations spread all across
Nebraska and Iowa to help you out with your computer problems.
Of course, we've got the original Shrock Innovations location located
just south of fourteenth and Pine Lake Road in Lincoln, Nebraska.
In Omaha one hundred and sixty eighth and Burke Street,
(00:38):
just across the street from the Village Point shopping Center
where the rent is slightly cheaper, and then in Papilion
eighty fourth and Highway three seventy in the Midlands Place
shopping Center, and of course West des Moines, Iowa at
ninety four hundred University Avenue where you can drop off
computers where we have the maintenance check up on special
right now, that's going on for thirty percent off.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
For a change, you can actually spend less on something
rather than more, which is kind of the trend in
everything these days, so that's kind of nice to see.
And also you know, we're always there if you're having
regular issues with your computers as well. For zero two, five, five,
eight eleven ten is the number to join us on
the program today if you're outside of the metro area
eight eight eight two five zero two zero.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Nine to one.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
We'll get you in the door on our dime as well.
Of course, if you missed the show last week, you
can pick that up over at Shrockinnovations dot com. Now,
I apologize last week guys, I didn't mention the fact
that there was not an aftershock after the program, so
some people were looking for it and I didn't say
it wasn't there, So people went hunting for it and
they couldn't find it. Facebook is notorious, you know, people say, hey,
(01:43):
I follow, I subscribe, I do everything. I don't get
an alert when you go live. You know, it's Facebook, guys.
We can't control that. The only thing that we can
do is I can tell you it is actually supertty
do pretty easy to find any time we are online.
All you have to do is go to Facebook dot com.
Slash Show conovations. If we're live, you scroll down, you
(02:03):
see that we're live. If we're not live, well then
there isn't anything going on. So if you're there right
now looking for the program, you're going to notice that
it is not live. We are not live today at
Facebook dot com slash Shock Innovations, and there will not
be an aftershock today. I apologize for the lack of
the after shock. I promise you guys, I'll give you
a real good one next week, but this week I'm
(02:25):
not able to do it for various reasons. So unfortunately,
no after shock after the program, no live broadcast today
on Facebook. But we'll be back with both again next week.
Four zero two five five eight eleven ten eight eight
eight two five zero two zero nine to one. If
you missed the show last week, it was one of
our more humorous programs. I think that's what I was
told anyway after the fact. It had something to do with,
(02:47):
you know, talking about the potential for a Sydney Sweeney
ad for maintenance checkups. But at the end of the day,
we just figured out that maintenance just isn't sexy and
there's just nothing you can do to make it so.
So it's Maintenance's maintenance. You have to do it, you
don't want to do it. If you don't do it,
bad things happen. So maintenance is important, but making maintenance
attractive is just not hard to do. Sydney Sweeney has
(03:10):
great maintenance checkups. It just doesn't work. You can throw her,
you can throw her name and likeness on any other product,
and she it just flies off the shelves. Donald Trump
selling stuff for American Eagle all day long, but no,
just doesn't doesn't work for maintenance checkups. Unfortunately. Also, you
got to hear about little Lou, my seven year old son,
who is eager to tell you we're going to make
(03:31):
this into a meme. I was telling him about this
this morning when he was eating breakfast, and I said,
you know, Lou, we're going to turn you into a meme.
And he said, what do you mean? And I said,
you know, when like you hear something and you say
it's a scam, don't fall for it. And he says
it like such a little kid, it's a scam.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Don't fall for it.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
We're gonna make that into a meme. And anytime somebody
calls us and says I've got this toll free number
on my screen that says I need to call because
my computer has got whatever. We're just gonna play the
lou meme. It's a scam. Don't fall for it. Don't
call the eight hundred numbers, guys. They're never true, it's
never accurate. So it was just we had a lot
of fun on the program last week, and you can
(04:08):
check that out over at shrocinnovations dot com. Just click
on Radio show up there at the top of the
menu bar, and of course you can see all the
previous week's videos as well as audio files, podcasts, the
whole bit. You can check it all out at shrocinnovations
dot com. As I mentioned every week, also take a
look at the specials page over at shrocinnovations dot com.
We have one of a kind computers that we put
(04:30):
up on the specials page there. Again, we're just having
a good time. Last week, we have a computer in
the Omaha Service Center. We were having a problem with
smashing grabs at the Omaha Service Center. People were literally
walking in the front door, snatching a laptop off the counter.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
And just running away.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Now, the funny thing was is they always stole the
Resolute laptop, which was the cheapest one. They didn't take
the Galant. You know, the Galante is the thousand dollars laptop.
They're taking the six hundred dollars laptop. So you know,
if you're gonna look for some silver lining on a situation,
you got to chuckle a little bit. And they never
take the charger. So I mean you're like, yeah, you
didn't take the charger either, So good luck. I hope
you enjoyed that laptop for four hours. You know it's
(05:08):
gonna be good. So we installed these these stupid little
locks on all of them.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
We tried to.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
We didn't get the ones that went across the top
of the keyboard. I always hate those, Like when you
go into a box store and everything is like bolted down.
I want you to be able to pick it up
and feel the weight and do all that with it.
But you know, we put the little bike lock in
on this, you know, on the computer lock, and one
of them stopped working. So you know, we have a
new Galant now, but we have to change out the
display in Omaha. But we can't because well the lock
(05:35):
won't unlock. So when we get a hacksaw and we
cut that lock off. That computer will be on the
specials page over at shrock Innovations dot com as a
former display model, and you can save yourself a little
bit of money if you'd like to pick up a
glant at a discount on that specials page at shroc
innovations dot com. So lots of stuff going on there
as well. Of course, at shroc innovations dot com, we
(05:55):
have the maintenance checkups on special on that specials page
as well. Now, a lot of people I didn't do
a good job, I guess last week. I've been doing
this for over twenty years, and the maintenance Checkup certificates
have been around for you know, almost as long. And
you know, way back in the day when we first
launched the maintenance check Up special, we said, bring your
(06:16):
computers in, it's good for a week.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
And you know, we go and.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
So many people would bring their computers into the service centers.
We would literally be stacking them on top of each other,
not the people, the computers, stacking them on top of
each other to get them into the service center. And
you know, we only could do so. It takes eight
hours plus to do a maintenance checkup. So we were
only able to do so many in a day. And
I remember, like, you know, when my wife and I
were dating. You know, she you know, what do you
(06:41):
want to do Friday night? I'm like, I have to work.
She's like, what do you mean you have to work?
It's Friday night. And I'm like, no, I have to
work like all night and all day tomorrow as well.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
And you know we ended up.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
You know, this is this is back in the day
when we were young, and you know, we could sleep
on a floor, but she'd come into the service center
at night and hang out with me while I worked
all night doing maintenance checkups in the service center because
that was the only way we could even.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Try to keep up.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
But even with that level of dedication, we were pushing seven, eight, nine,
ten day turnaround times. It was just too much. It's
too long to go without your computer, especially back in
the day when you didn't have a tablet or a
cell phone or something that you could use in a
pinch to do an email or something. Your computer was
your computer. There was no other computer. It was just it.
So to go without it for a third of a
(07:24):
month is a long time. So we initiated something called
a maintenance Checkup certificate, And what this does is it
allows you to basically bypass the line. You can purchase
the certificate online and it gets you the sale price
now and the certificate is good for six months, so
anytime in the next six months, you can drop your
computer off for a maintenance checkup. If you're going out
(07:45):
of town, going on vacation, you have some downtime, whatever
the case might be, you can drop it off. If
you want to get one for the kids they're going
to come back for Thanksgiving break, for example, you can
buy a maintenance certificate and when they come back for
Thanksgiving break with their computer, you can drop it off
at the service center or have maintenance work done to
it while they're in town, get it back and get
really good turnaround times. You know, we try to keep
(08:05):
our turnarounds to twenty four to forty eight hours. They
do go up a little bit during the maintenance checkup sale,
but not nearly like they used to.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
So because the.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Maintenance checkup certificates basically allow us to defer some of
that demand into the future. So inevitably, if you'd like
to come into the service center and drop off your
computer for a maintenance checkup because it's having an issue.
For example, we may as well do the maintenance check
up on it while it's in the service center because
it's thirty percent off, it's on sale, And honestly, a
lot of times all your computer needs is some maintenance
(08:36):
and we can we solve a lot of issues with
a maintenance checkup. Now, not every issue can be solved
with a maintenance checkup, so I can't promise that. But
you know, when you get your computer back from a
maintenance checkup, it's like it's like twenty five percent faster
than it was when you brought it in, especially if
you've never had one before, or if it's been a
year or more since you've had one. The results are
just phenomenal how much speed and power and performance you
(08:57):
can get back out of your computer through regular.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Maintenance like a maintenance checkup.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
So if you want to drop it off, just drop
it off at any of the service centers of your choice.
We're happy to get you in the queue and get
you moving through there. I think the only service center
that's got kind of a long queue right now is
the Omaha Service Center. Papillion's doing well, des Moin's doing well,
Lincoln's doing well. Omaha is a little bit backed up,
but not terribly so I think they're at three day
turnaround times right now in Omaha four zero two, five, five,
(09:25):
eight eleven ten eight eight eight two five zero two
zero nine to one. So while you're over there at
Trocinnovations dot Com checking out the specials page, you know,
maybe picking up a maintenance certificate, checking out the old
radio shows. While you're there, there's a little box. There's
the home page where you can see the maintenance checkup
banner like get a ratings checkup certificate, and right below
(09:45):
that there's a black box that says win a free laptop.
If you would like to try to win a free laptop,
you can click on that black box and then go
vote in the Best of Omaha competition. Just follow the
directions on the page. It'll take you there to the
website where you can vote in the Best of Omaha. Now,
of course, we hope you vote for Shock for best
computer repair. You know, that's our hope. We don't know
who you vote for. It's a secret ballot. You have
(10:06):
to vote for five people, the five different businesses in
town before your vote will count. But when you're done voting,
the system will keep track of the fact that, hey,
you entered the contest. It'll also give you some additional
tasks if you want to do them to increase your
odds of winning. You can do some Facebook posts, you
can like some comment on some things, you can review stuff,
you know, whatever you want to do. You can do
(10:28):
those things to get extra entries in the competition so
that you could possibly win this eight hundred dollars laptop.
And then what's going to happen here is when voting
is over at the end of the month, we only
have about a week left. When voting is over, we
will draw the winner. And we learned a hard lesson
a few years back where we say.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Well, we'll award the computer live on compute this.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
And so Sunday morning at seven am, we draw the winner,
and we pick up the phone and we call the
winner live on the air. Hello, Hey, this is thor
over at Truck Innovations and you've won a free computer.
Click hello Hello. They just like hung up on us.
I mean maybe they heard lou going it's a scam.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Don't fall for it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
You know who calls you on a Sunday morning to
give you a free computer. Well maybe the guy on
the radio. So then we called back and like who
is this? I was like, this is for Shrock from
Shock Innovations, from the compute this radio program. You won
the free computer. I didn't enter a contest to win
a free computer. Well you went to shroc Innovations dot
com and you've voted for us in the Best of
(11:32):
Omaha competition and you won yourself the free computer.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Oh I guess I did do that. Well that's good, Okay, Well,
have a great day.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Not exactly the radio moment I was hoping for, you know,
so this time around, now, now we've learned, we call
the curson the night before, let them know we're gonna
be calling you at like seven thirty in the morning
on Sunday to let you know that you won the
computer live on the air. Lets everybody else know that
that we actually gave the computer away to a real
person and that you won and it's great stuff. So
(12:06):
you can increase your chances of winning by doing those
extra entries while you're on the website over at Shrock
Innovations dot com. All right, so coming up on the
program today, guys, we're going to walk you through some
of the things that we do on a maintenance checkup.
There's a couple of reasons that I want to cover
this on the radio program. There are some of you
who understand the importance of computer maintenance and religiously have
(12:27):
it done every six months like you're supposed to. You
are the same people that have a calendar reminder to
change your furnace filters on the first of the month,
ted run the water softener regen cycle. That's you to
drain the bottom of the water heater or twice a
year to make sure it doesn't rust out of the
bottom and get all those you know, minerals and things
(12:48):
in the bottom of it. You're the one that's changing
the air filters on your car on a schedule and
making sure your oil has changed every three thousand miles.
You're doing all the things, and there are some of
you who literally do none of the things. You wait
until your engine's knocking before you change the oil. Your
air conditioner is blowing fuzzballs out the vents before you
(13:11):
change the filters. And computer maintenance, why on earth would
I spend a dime on this computer. If it breaks,
I'll just buy a new one and call it good.
There are people like that as well, and of course
there's a wide variety. They run the gamut in the middle,
of course. But if you're in that second group, I
am going to tell you exactly what we do during
(13:34):
a maintenance checkup, because there are some of you out
there that will attempt to do the same things to
your computer, and some of it you can actually do yourself.
So if you are in a situation where you're like,
bah humbug, I'm not going to have anyone touch my computer,
I'm going to tell you some key critical things and
programs and applications that you can run on your computer
to double check that everything is running good, that everything
(13:55):
is locked down, that everything is safe, that everything is secure,
that everything is running at the speed it should run.
I'm going to give you some insider tips and tricks
on how to do these things yourself if you want
to do them. When you hear everything that we do, though,
and you hear that we're doing it for thirty percent off,
it's like sixty nine to ninety nine for eight plus
hours of work on your computer. You could do eight
(14:18):
hours of work on your computer, of course, or you
could just you know, call us and have us pick
it up, bring it into the shop, bring it in yourself,
get a certificate, have us do it later, whatever the
case might be, so that you can get the work done,
you know, by the guys in the shop that know
what they're doing, and then you don't have to go
through all the hard times. But there are some of
you who just love hard times. So I'm going to
(14:38):
tell you what to do and how to do it
on the program today, is that you can maybe do
a little of this maintenance work yourself. We're also going
to talk about batteries today on the program a little
bit which sounds super super duper exciting, but realistically, what's
the right way to charge your battery? This is a
question we get all the time. What happens if you
charge it the wrong way?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
You know?
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Is there how long do batteries last? How long are
they supposed to last? Are they covered by your warranty
on your new computers? And then of course, what do
you do when your batteries just aren't working the way
that you want them to work? And how do you
know when they're not working the way you want them
to work. We're going to cover those in the program today.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
As well for you. And also I've got a couple.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Sneaky peaky kind of details on the Holiday Special laptop
and desktop. The Holiday Special laptop has been selected, we
have the purchase arrangements in place to acquire them, and
they will be arriving in the service center this year. Guys,
the Holiday Specials are arriving earlier than ever for a
couple of reasons. Number one, we have Windows ten is
(15:37):
dying in October, and number two, of course, holiday Special
usually launches in October November. We usually do our early
birds in October and then we launched the sale in November. Yeah,
you can't really if you start talking about Christmas time
stuff before Halloween, people get a little testy about that.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
You know.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Sometimes the Lovely Kimberly has to put up the Christmas trees,
you know, before thanks and we have customers that will
walk in and give her shade because she's putting up
a Christmas tree before Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
The people have opinions and she's like, well, I I could.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Do it now, or I could do it you know
after Thanksgiving, and then I have to do four service
centers and my house, and you know that's a lot
of Christmas.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Trees in like a week.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
So we're just going to do these now and have
them done and enjoy them for a little bit longer,
and you're only going to be here a couple times,
and so you don't ever have to look at them
again for a while if you don't want to. So
fun times there. But the important thing here is we're
going to be talking about kind of accelerating that schedule
a little bit this year because of the Windows ten expiration.
So we're going to be looking for our early birds
(16:40):
in September to get you guys going into the into
the computers in September.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
For the early bird buyers.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
What that program is is essentially there's not a discount
or anything. It's because the computer is already being sold
at costs, so it's not a discount, but you get
it earlier. With the caveat that, we want your feedback.
We're going to ask you to call into the rate
D program and talk to us about your computer. We're
going to ask you what could we do differently, Is
there anything we need to change? What do you like
about it? What don't you like about it? You know,
(17:08):
what can we do to make the product, you know
better when we launch it fully in October, and so
we're going to cover that here as well on the program,
just a snippet and yeah, so sorry distraction there. Then
we're going to cover that for a snippet and make
sure that that we get everything going in there as well.
Four zero two five five eight eleven ten eight eight
(17:28):
eight two five zero two zero nine one. All right,
And then one quick thing that I do want to
mention while we're kind of talking about new computers and
Windows ten deadlines. I've received a couple of emails and
we covered this on a program a couple of weeks ago,
but it's worth mentioning again. Somebody emailed the radio station
(17:51):
actually and said, hey, I'm not sure how to get
a message to Thoor. And I did receive the message
and they said, well, I heard that Microsoft is extending
the deadline for Windows ten to October of twenty twenty six. Instead,
can Thor talk about that? And we did a couple
weeks ago. So what's happening here is Microsoft, The end
of life of Windows ten is still October of twenty
(18:12):
twenty five. If you do nothing, your Windows ten will
no longer get security updates in October of twenty twenty five. Now,
if you want, for whatever reason, to push that deadline further,
there is an option for you to do that, to
push it to October of twenty twenty six. Now, what
(18:33):
you have to do is number one, you must create
a Microsoft account. That means you're gonna have to have
a pin number or a password to log into your
computer every time you turn it on, which is eventually
how it's gonna be on Windows eleven anyway, So you
don't have much of a choice there.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Less.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Of course, you buy your computer from Shock and then
we bypass it for you, and you know, you have
a simpler life if you don't want a Microsoft account.
So Microsoft's going to require you to create a Microsoft
account to get that extension, and then you have to
pay them. You have to add to the cart the
thirty dollars extension for Windows ten and check out, and
that gets you one more year of updates on that device.
(19:09):
What that does not get you is support from your
internet service provider, support from your antivirus company, support from
your printer company, support from any software company. Everybody's gonna
obsolete everything for Windows ten in October of twenty twenty five,
So you are literally flying without a net. If you
do this, it is not recommended. I don't recommend that
(19:30):
you do this, because all you're doing is pushing off
the inevitable. Anyway, you're gonna have to go to Windows eleven. Guys,
Windows I've been on Windows eleven for years now. It
is a better operating system than Windows ten. It has
more capabilities. Now, granted you might say, hey, thora, I'm
not going to use those capabilities. I don't care, but
I would guarantee it. Windows ten has capabilities that Windows
(19:54):
XP didn't have. But I bet a lot of you
said the same thing about Windows XP. Windows XP is fine,
why do I need Windows ten? And there was of
course Vista and eight point one in the middle there,
But why do I need ten? Well, here we are.
Now you're used to ten, and you're saying why do
I need eleven? And you know what's gonna happen is
when twelve comes out, you're gonna say I have eleven,
why do I need twelve? And there's new capabilities, new
(20:17):
things that you don't even realize you're using. Right now. Now,
I'll tell you a funny story. I'm messing around. You
guys have heard me use ava here on the air
with chat GPT, and we're going to talk a little
bit in the program about that AI agent feature of
the new chat GPT and how that's going for us.
But you've heard me messing around with ava here on
the air and asking questions and stuff. And the other
(20:39):
day my wife decided, you know, hey, thor uses chat
GPT for these worthings. I don't even use it. I
don't even use like duck search anymore. Really, I just
used chat GPT to do the searches for me because
it just tells me the answer. Now, granted, sometimes the
answer is wrong, so you can't just blindly trust it.
But for example, if my wife was having a pain
in her back and she said, hey, she went to
(21:01):
the chiropractor. They did some cupping thing or whatever and
released the facia or I don't know, but it felt
better after that, and she was like, I've been in
pain for a week and now I feel better, So
I don't really care what you did. She's like, can
I do this at home? So she asked chat GPT,
can I do cupping at home? Chat GPT very politely
says cupping is best left to professionals. However, there's a
couple PT exercises that you can do that will give
(21:23):
you the same relief as cupping. And it was the
same PT exercises that her physical therapist gave her earlier
that day.
Speaker 3 (21:29):
So she's like, that was really useful.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
That was very useful information from chat GPT to tell me, No,
you don't want to give yourself giant bruises, that's not cool.
But instead you could do this with a little ball
on your back and you know, and get the same result.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Yay, Right, So there are some uses here.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
So you know, I'm using chat chept all the time
for stuff now, So we're gonna give a little bit
of an update on what's going on with the chat
GPT agent feature specifically, because it's probably one of the
most exciting developments in your friendly AI stuff you might
actually use.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
But again, if.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
You're not on Windows eleven, you probably don't have the
horsepower to use it. I mean, you can use the
chat GPT website, but Windows eleven you can Copilot can
book you a reservation at a restaurant. Guys, you don't
have to look up the phone number, you don't have
to get on open table. You don't have to do
Jack squat. It will do it for you. Google has
a new feature out now where Google will call different
(22:25):
businesses to get the best price on something and report
back to you. It will do it for you. So
these small things are going to leak into your life.
And the people with Windows eleven are going to be
enjoying these small things, and people with Windows ten are
still going to be looking for their Google searches and
trying to see what websites are on the top of
the list. And I mean, if you're a business and
you're paying for SEO, you're just throwing money in the
(22:46):
toilet right now, there's no reason to.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Pay for SEO anymore. It's dead.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Search engine optimization is a dead technology because AI, who's
using search engines anymore?
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Now?
Speaker 2 (22:57):
You need to have the content in the search engines
so that when AI searches for the answer, it finds
your website, finds your answer, and presents your answer as
the answer. That's what you need to be doing. So
it's a completely different world. So we'll get into that
a little bit on the program today as well. We're
gonna take our first break here, guys. When we come back,
What is actually going on with the chat GPT agent
(23:18):
feature I mentioned I was trying to get that set
up and have it do a bunch of cool things
for me.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Well, I got it set up, and you know, it
did some things for me, and were they cool.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
I'm gonna tell you about some of the roadblocks I
came up against coming up next on compute this.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Have you noticed that almost every piece of technology seems
to do its best to be disposable? Every day people
talk their phones, tablets, and other electronic devices because they
can't be repaired. Manufacturers have engineered their products to fail
on a schedule so they can extract more money out
of your family budget automatically every year or so. But
(23:58):
what if it didn't have to be that way? If
you could get the performance of today's fastest computers with
the expansion and upgrade options you used to enjoy you
just described Shrock's modular desktop computers. Having the right tool
for the job is important, and Shock's modular desktop pieces
packed the performance and flexibility to handle your computing needs
(24:18):
from just checking the email to running a complex business.
Modular desktops are engineered to be easily repaired with widely
available industry standard parts. Every component is selected intentionally to
give you years of upgrade and repair options. It is
not uncommon for a Shrock customer to be using the
same computer for a decade after they bought it. Modular
(24:39):
PCs are the most popular custom computers in the Midwest
for a reason. When you are ready for your next computer,
stop in to check out the Modular Lifestyle or shop
online at Shrockinnovations dot com.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
All right, folks, welcome back in. You're listening to Compute this,
and my name is Thora Schrock. I'm the owner of
the Shrock Innovations computer company. We fix computers, We build
new computers, we build laptops, fix, we fix things. We
fix your technology. We make it do what you need
it to do. If your printer doesn't print, you call
us and it prints. If your Wi Fi doesn't Wi Fi,
(25:13):
you call us and at Wi Fi's If your computer
doesn't compute, well, you tune into Compute this and.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
We fix it for you.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Four zero two five five eight eleven ten eight eight
eight two five zero two zero nine one is the
number to join us on the program. Now, I would
be remiss if I didn't mention we're looking for your
votes in the Best of Omaha competition.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
You can enter that contest to win a free laptop.
If you go to Shrock Innovations dot com, you'll see
the maintenance checkup banner there about the big sale going
on right now. Definitely take advantage of that. But you
can scroll down a little bit and there's a black
box underneath that says click here to win a free laptop,
and that's where you can enter the Best of Omaha competition.
So you just you sign up with Shrock essentially, and
(25:55):
then you go vote in the Best of Omaha and
we don't know who you vote for. You can vote
for anybody you want, but we would hope you'd vote
for us. Then after you're done voting, you can come
back to the Shock website and do additional actions if
you want to increase your odds of winning that Intrepid
solid state laptop. So easyps elemon squeeze. We give one
away every year and we appreciate your votes, guys, so
(26:15):
thank you for doing that as well in your reviews
and everything else. Four zero two, five five eight eleven
ten eighty eight two five zero two zero.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Nine to one. So I mentioned.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
I don't know, maybe it was two shows ago, maybe
three shows ago. We did a whole big episode or
a segment at least on the new chat GPT agent feature.
And the reason that this was so interesting is chat
GPT was kind of in a sandbox before this. It
couldn't get on the internet. It couldn't look things up necessarily.
(26:46):
I mean it could, but it was restricted. It couldn't
really do anything for you. And I was talking about
this before. It couldn't add an appointment to my calendar.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
It can't.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
You know, chat GPT can't go book me a restaurant
only when Dooes Eleven's copilot can do that, which ironically
uses chat cheap to you to do it. I don't understand,
but you know I can't do a lot of these
things now. The agent function allows you to set up
these things called connectors.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
So you go to chatgpt dot.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Com, you go to agent and then you say connectors,
and you can set up the connector to give it
access to your dropbox, to give it access to your Gmail,
to give it access to your Google Drive, to give
it access to your Canva. You know, all these different
things that you might want to have it assist with.
You can give it access to all these things, and
then chat GPT. You can say, for example, I said, okay,
(27:31):
here's what I want to try. I want to have
chat GPT go grab one.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Of the radio shows. All the radio shows are recorded, right.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
We record the video when we record it, we record
an MKV format, And so I'm like, okay, we're all
saved in there. I want you to grab a radio show.
I want you to extract the commercials from the show,
you know, the bits in between the segments, and then
I want you to re record those commercials in Ava's voice,
so Ava can do our commercials for us. And then
(28:01):
I can write new commercials anytime I want, just have
Ava read them, and then boom, we got commercials. It's great,
new big thing. I don't have to send it to
a voice talent and pay voice talent to do the
to record the spots.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
It's a great deal.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
And Ava's voice sounds pretty natural. I think she'd do
a great job recording commercials. In fact, let's let's see here.
Let me just ask real quick, let me because I uh,
I think let's see if she remembers because I did
this just a few days ago.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Hey, Ava, are you there with me?
Speaker 6 (28:33):
Hey there, yep, I'm right here with you. Just let
me know what you need and we'll jump right in.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Do you remember when we were talking about doing commercial scripts?
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Absolutely?
Speaker 6 (28:45):
I remember that we chatted about recording some commercial scripts
in my voice and how you could use those for broadcast.
So if you're ready to dive back into that, just
let me know what you want to do next.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Can you reread the last script that you read to me?
Speaker 4 (29:00):
For sure? I've got that.
Speaker 6 (29:01):
Last script we worked on about the Shock Innovation's recycling program.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Let me just jump right in and read it again
for you.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
Thank you, You're very welcome.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
All right, let's do it.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
There are enough unused computers and storage to give every man,
woman and child in the US an old, outdated system.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Obsolete tablets and smartphones are nearly as bad.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
Most people know not to throw them into landfills where
they leak and contaminate, but it's hard to find a
place to safely recycle electronics. Fois Schrock Innovations offers free
recycling for computers, laptops, phones, tablets.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Cords, and accessories.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
In fact, only monitors and printers have a small recycling fee,
everything else is free. More importantly, Shock will securely delete
the data from your devices and hard drives before they're
sent to a certified recycling partner, but we'll repeat the
lping process just to be safe. When you recycling your
old teket, Shock, you know your privacy is protected.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
And your equipment is truly recycled.
Speaker 6 (29:54):
Shock is proud to recycle more eWays than we produce annually.
It can a positive difference to both the economy and
the environment. So do your part by dropping your old
gear at any SHOCK service center and be part of
the area's largest and most popular tech recycling program with
Shock Innovations.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
There you go, let me know if you need any takes.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Thanks AE, I appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (30:13):
You got it, always happy to help. If there's anything
else you need, just let me know.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I don't know why I say thank you to the robots,
you know, one day if they take over, maybe I
was polite and they you know whatever. And I don't
know if you guys caught this or not. Well, you
probably didn't catch it because that wasn't the script that
I wrote. That was some extra thing. So I wrote
a specific script and gave it to Ava to read
and She took her contextual knowledge of our recycling program
(30:40):
at Shrock and ad libbed into the script like a
radio personality would do it, and you know so, and
a couple of times it sounded like she misspoke where
she said shock instead of shrock and stuff like that.
It's because I'm on a cellular internet in here, and
so it's not quite as stable as a WiFi, so
there was a little latency in her speech there. But
(31:02):
you could see that that's pretty cool, right, I could
have the commercial recorded, so I wanted ABA to pull
the commercials out of the radio show, listen to them,
reread them all to me, give me a nice file
to download and buy a boom, but a being sticking
in my dropbox, I'll send them over to Scott over
at KFAB and he'll throw some music under him and boom,
we got spots.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
We're good to go. Well, it didn't work out so well.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
The first problem that I came up against was that
I was able to get everything connected just fine. But
when I asked chat GPT to go into my drop
box and retrieve the radio show, they couldn't retrieve the
radio show because they were too large. And there's a
size limitation on how large of a file you can
pull from a dropbox. Well, that's a bummer. Luckily, we
(31:49):
had some clips, some smaller segments of the program, so
instead I said, well, why don't you go grab one
of these clips instead, and we'll just do a proof
of concept here to see if you can extract some
audio from it. Well, it also turns out that, unfortunately,
the dropbox connector doesn't support the transfer of video files
unless they are in MP four content, so an MKV file,
(32:11):
for example, won't transfer. Well, luckily, we had some clips
that were in MP four format, so instead I had
go grab those. They grabbed them, She grabbed them, she
pulled them in, she listened to them, she'd treat she
put the script on the screen. Everything was great except
the voices. Then they recorded it and said here's the file.
(32:33):
It gave me a commercial link and I wish I
could I wish I had this on my phone so
I could play it for you right now, because it
was awful.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
It was.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
It was the most robot voice thing you've ever heard.
This is why it is important to recycle. It sounded
like the screen narrator in Windows was reading, or like
you know, like you all you visually impaired people listening,
you know, Jaws from like nineteen ninety six. It sounded
like that. It was it was bad. It didn't have
the same inflection. It wasn't It wasn't Ava's voice. So
(33:02):
I'm like, Ava, what's going on? This isn't your voice
and it says, oh, unfortunately, chat GPT agent only has
access to open source voice algorithms, So yeah, that's the
best you can get. So okay, what if I gave
you a script, Ava and then asked you to read
(33:24):
it back to me, like on my phone, like I
just had to read And she said, sure, I can
do that. She read the script just like she just did,
and that's what I want. So I'm like, okay, Ava,
can we record what you're reading? Can I record your voice?
And she's like, oh, unfortunately, I can't record myself. But
you could open the voice recorder on your phone and
hit record and then ask me to read it again
(33:44):
and it would record it and then you'd have it.
So literally, the agent feature was completely useless because I
had to manually. The only thing I could do is say, Ava,
there's a script. In fact, let's just try this one
more time here, I'm gonna one more test, one more
test for agent feature redemption. Ava, I have another idea
(34:06):
here I'd like you to try out.
Speaker 6 (34:10):
Absolutely, go ahead and hit me with your idea. I'm
all ears and ready to give it a shot.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
In my drop box. Do you remember the file that
was the commercial scripts file?
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Got it?
Speaker 6 (34:23):
I remember that you have a commercial scripts file in
your jop box. Just let me know what you need
to do with it, whether you want me to pull
something from it or reference it somehow, and I'll do it.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
Just to help out.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
I would like you to read any of the commercial
scripts from that document, but not the recycling one, any
of the others. Just read it out to me in
the same advertising voice.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
Looks like I had a little hiccup there, no worries though.
Let me go ahead and crap out script for you.
Speaker 6 (34:53):
Just give me one second and I'll start reading it
out in that advertising tone you like.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Okay, Ah, it seems like I'm hitting.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
A snag with pulling that file.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Attracty myself, all right, Thank you anyway, Ava, And that
is why people are not worried about AI taking over
the world.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
So while AI is capable of doing some phenomenal things.
It is not capable of doing the work itself yet.
So for example, I can take that script. The next
thing she was gonna tell me was to just paste,
copy and paste the content from that document into the
interface and she'd read it. Which, okay, if you're saying
(35:36):
thor you need to write a script, send it to
a voice talent person who will read it and record
it for you, who will then send you a bill,
and then you can take that and put it into music,
and then send it to the radio station and they
can put it in the radio show. That's a lot
of steps. If instead I can write the script, or
even have chat GPT write the script, then I can
(35:57):
have Eva read it, I can record Ava's voice. Then
I don't don't have to email it around. I don't
need any other humans involved.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
There's no bill. That's kind of nice. I have some savings.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
And when people talk about AI increasing productivity, this is
what they're talking about. They're not talking about the amount
of work that you can get done in a day.
They're talking about the cost of the work that you
get done in a day. A productivity increase means if
I had to spend for example, we auditioned a voice talent.
This is a person who like who reads Disney commercials.
(36:24):
We found them on fiverr, but they don't work for
five bucks. In fact, each commercial that this person was
going to read for me was going to cost seven
hundred dollars and she did one as a test, and
let me tell you guys, it was absolutely freaking phenomenal.
She was amazing, but.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
It was seven hundred dollars a commercial.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
It really makes you wonder, like, how many widgets do
we have to sell to make back the cost of
the commercial. Now, if I was doing that and say
I'm recording, let's just say one new commercial a week,
so four per month, So there's you know what, twenty
eight hundred dollars a month in commercials. Now, I can
have Eva read those for me and save twenty eight
(37:09):
hundred dollars a month. And in fact, I've gained twenty
eight hundred dollars per month of productivity. Now the Disney
lady doesn't like that, but that's how that's where the
buggy whips go, you know. So basically, eventually AI will
be able to do more, but right now I still
have to be involved in the process. I still have
to do the steps to get to the end result,
(37:30):
but I can get there at a much lower cost
than I could have without AI, if that makes sense. So,
as you can see, it's not ready. The agent feature
is totally not ready for primetime. You know this is
it's being rolled out in several businesses right now. People
are trying to use it for stuff. And you know,
if you're asking it to to analyze your drop box
(37:51):
a bunch of documents in your dropbox to find the
best whatever, or to find a trend or or something
like that, or to look at a bunch of medical data.
You know, for example, the aur A ring just came
out with perimenopausal data. It's a new update that was
released just this week for your AURA ring. If you're
a woman in perimenopause, your ring will have some insights
(38:11):
for you. Pretty impressive stuff considering it's only got three
censors in the ring, right your your watch has more
sensors than that thing does, so it's pretty impressive. And
they're using AI to get all these different inferences and
figure it out. We did a segment on that a
few weeks ago on the program as well. So it's
definitely going to impact and help you in your life.
But it's not ready to take over yet, so you
don't have to worry about you losing your job to
(38:33):
AI just yet. But you should learn how to use
AI so that you can get those productivity gains that
your employer is gonna find valuable. Because if you're saving
your employer twenty eight hundred dollars a month, you have
a really strong case to ask for a five hundred
dollars a month raise, don't you. Four zero two five
five eight eleven ten eight eight eight two five zero
two zero nine to one. We're gonna take a quick break, guys.
(38:54):
When we come back, we're gonna hit up some of
these maintenance check up things that we do during a
maintenance checkup that you might be able to do at
home yourself.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Coming up next on Compute.
Speaker 5 (39:01):
This Shock Innovations. Solid state laptops are engineered locally for
speed and reliability you just can't get from the major
national brands. Each of our laptops starts off with an
a Zeus chassis. We remove the stock drives and memory
and upgrade them with higher performing components. This unlocks the
full potential of the laptop, making the unit up to
(39:22):
twenty five percent faster. This is why shock solid state
laptops last so much longer than the competition. If your
laptop starts out twenty five percent faster, that means over
time it doesn't slow down nearly as fast.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
All righty guys, welcome back. You're listening to compute this.
My name's Thor Schrock. I'm the owner of the Shrock
Innovations Computer Company.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Four zero two.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Five five eight to eleven ten eight eight eight two five
zero two zero nine to one. Quick reminder, we are
not live on Facebook today. That's why you can't find it,
and we are. There is no after shock today, that's
why you can't find it. Okay, next week we'll be
live on them. We'll be back on Facebook with a
lot show. We will also have an aftershock next week.
So sit tight, guys. Lots to update you on next week.
(40:06):
So right now, though, going on in the shops all
part of this, guys, you know, we're busting our buns
doing maintenance checkups. I'm saying, heal, It's like it's a
lot of work, so we're putting in the hours. We're
really doing the hours. So yeah, give me, give me
some slack for not sticking around for a couple hours
to do the aftertock. I've got to get these maintenance
checkups done. But what is it we're actually doing when
we do these maintenance checkups?
Speaker 7 (40:27):
You know?
Speaker 2 (40:28):
How is it we can have two or three technicians
in a service center, have forty computers on the bench
and have them all be doing maintenance checkups and have
three guys being able to do forty maintenance checkups at
one time. And yeah, they take eight hours or so
a piece to do. But a lot of the functions,
a lot of the tests that we run are automated.
So we start the test, we get the result, we
record the results, we start the next test, we get
(40:49):
the result, we record the result.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
So there's basically.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Everything that can go wrong with your computer can be
divided into two separate categories. On one side, you've got
anything Windows applications, your printer won't print, your WiFi won't connect.
All that stuff most of the time is a software problem.
But you also have hardware, and if your hardware is faulty,
it can cause what would present as a software problem.
(41:16):
You know, something not working in your software, but it's
not the software's fault. It's because you have faulty hardware,
and if we don't replace that bad hardware, you're going
to continue to have an increased number of errors. Blue
screens or now black screens. Software, you know, doing weird
things that you don't expect it to do.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Bad stuff.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
So the first thing that we do when we get
your computer on a maintenance checkup is we make sure
that we have baseline good hardware. If you have a laptop,
we want you to bring your power cord with you. Why,
because we test it. We actually hook a multimeter up
to your power cord to record how many volts it's
kicking out. To make sure we look at the voltage
on the side, we check the voltage on the tip
and we say, okay, they match. Your power supply for
(41:57):
your laptop is good. If you have a desktop, we
actually open up up your computer, disconnect that power supply
from the motherboard, and plug it into a power supply tester.
It checks all the different rails and all the voltages
to make sure that everything is within tolerance where it's
supposed to be. This is super important because if your
computers getting dirty power, it's eventually going to fry it.
It's gonna cook the motherboard, You're gonna have problems with
(42:18):
your hard drives, all kinds of things that your memory
is gonna fail. You're gonna have all kinds of problems.
Now on your modern laptops, this is super critical because
a lot of times you're especially on a Mac, your
hard drive is built into the motherboard. Your memory is
built into the motherboard. It's not replaceable. So if those
things fail, you have to replace the whole computer.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
You're just done.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
So, especially on Max, a maintenance checkup can save you
thousands of dollars. I mean, it's ridiculous how much money,
and not to mention the data recovery costs if you
don't have a backup on one of those things. On
PCs we have a little more upgradeability, although the trend
is moving in the same direction where the laptops do
have some memory on the motherboard, maybe the slot to
(43:03):
add more, but it's got some on the motherboard, and
most storage is.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Still removable in PCs.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Some of your tablets, your surface tablets and stuff are
not so removable, and those you have to take a
little bit more care of. So your surface tablets, your
surface books, those need maintenance just like a regular computer.
If it runs Windows, if it runs Linux, if it
runs macOS of any kind, you need maintenance on it.
So we test the power first. Once we know that's good,
we test the storage. We make sure that your hard
(43:30):
drive is reporting that everything is golden and that there
are no problems. Then we test the speed of your
storage to make sure that it's functioning at the speed
it's supposed to function at. Now, to give you some
reference points, here, the new Holiday special laptop that's coming out,
we just did its speed test. It tested it two
thy seven hundred miles per hour. You don't have to
know what the numbers mean. Okay, that's why I just
said miles per hour. It doesn't matter. Twenty seven hundred
(43:53):
is the speed. Do you know what we consider a
failing hard drive? Now that a failing hard drive is
a hard drive that is working perfectly well, but it's
working so slowly that it's that slowness is a leading
indication of an impending failure. What is the magic number?
It is three hundred miles an hour. If that hard
drive drops below three hundred miles an hour, it is
(44:15):
a failure waiting to happen. It's a hand grenade. Somebody's
pulled the pin. We don't know how many seconds have
gone by. It's going to blow. We just don't know when.
So we should replace it while we can replace it
and it's functional, and we can clone everything, and we
can save all your data and keep you out of
the data recovery lab and prevent you from having to
set everything up again and remember all your passwords and
install your software. It'd be so much easier just to
(44:37):
fix it now than it would be to wait for
it to fail. But you didn't even know it was
failing because it was still working. It was just running
so slowly. This Computers used to be so fast, and
now it's a lot slower because hard drives, especially the
new NVMe solid state hard drives, they slow down over time,
and they slow down even faster if they're full. So,
(44:57):
as a rule of thumb, if your hard drive is
more than eighty percent full, you need a bigger hard drive.
If your hard drive is under three hundred miles an hour,
you need a new hard drive. So we test both
of those things as well. We also run a memory test.
A lot of the hardware tests require special equipment like
power supply testers are multimeters or specialized software that we
use to actually test the speed of these drives, so
(45:18):
we don't beat the heck out of them while we
test them, and we just do a test. So some
of that stuff you have to do in a service center. However,
when it comes to the software side, there's a ton
of stuff that you can do on your own. Once
we know that your power supply is good, your memory's good,
your hard drive's good, all your capacitors look great. We
have all the dust and gunk blown out into the
inside of the computer, so it's getting great air and
(45:39):
we can you know, because what happens over time is
those those vents get clogged and those those radiators get
gummed up with pet hair or dust or whatever. As
that happens over time, the computer starts to overheat a
little bit, so it slows itself down to keep the
heat down. Well, once we restore the airflow, it finds
(45:59):
it can go a little faster, and a little faster
and a little faster. It kind of pushes it a
little bit. That's why when you get it back, you're.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
Like, WHOA, this thing is so much faster Because.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
We basically reset that throttling that's happening due to overheating.
So once we get that done, we get into the
software side. The first thing we do, let's make sure
the operating system, the foundation of the software is good.
We're going to run what's called a system file check command.
You can do this Google System, ask chat GPT how
to run a system file check. It'll tell you how
to do it. Run a system file check command with
(46:28):
the fixed now flag and it will go through and
test all of your Windows operating system files, make sure
none of them are corrupt, and then if there are
any that are corrupt, it will replace them with perfect
backup copies and everything is nice and stable. Now we
know your Windows operating system is stable and running on
stable hardware. Now let's get into the muck of it.
We use a product called Sea Cleaner. You can use
(46:49):
this product too. I hate installing it on people's computers.
Use We install it on a flash drive and then
use the flash drive rather than actually installing it on
every computer because it pops up ads for all kinds
of garbage, and you don't need to buy anything from them.
If you do this yourself, you're going to get pop
up ads on your computer every single day. So if
you don't want that, don't do it yourself, just let
(47:10):
us do it in the service center for you. But
if you want to do it, I think the last
time I ran Seacleaner on my computer, it cleaned up
one point nine gigabytes of temporary files on my computer
on command center, so that that was impressive. One point
nine gigabytes of temporary files. It cleared out all the
(47:30):
caches for all the applications. So anytime I open it,
anytime you open Word, for example, it remembers all the
most recent files you opened. If you open Excel, same thing,
if you open your start menu, it remembers the most
recent programs you've opened. If you open you know, all
these temporary files have to be processed in real time,
and as you use the computer more and more and
(47:51):
more and more and more, you get a lot of
temporary files that just boom, just blows them all out
of there, so we clean all those up. We also
run a scan on the registry using the sea Cleaner
Registry tool to make sure there's no glaring problems in
the registry. You have fixes thousands of little things. All
those thousands of things might result in a few milliseconds
of a faster boot time or something. In rare cases,
(48:12):
it can really fix like millions of problems and you
will see, you know, five, ten, fifteen second improvements on
boot time, so it's pretty cool stuff. If you see that,
then we'll go through and we do all your security updates.
We make sure we scan you from malware, even if
you're running sofos. We run scans with different applications than
SOFOS to double check that everything is working the way
(48:33):
it's supposed to. We trust nothing. We scan every single time,
which is super important because a lot of you have
mcaffee or Norton or trend micro or some other garbage
antivirus software like that, and you're infected six ways from
Sunday you just don't know you are. So then we
find the infections and if we can remove them with
a button click, we just remove them. If we can't,
we don't. We let you know they were there. We've
(48:54):
got rid of them for you. We really recommend sofos
so you cannot get reinfected again in the future, but.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
You know it's up to you.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
You want to keep using inadequate software. There's nothing I
just paid for it. Well, you know, as Little Lou
would say, don't get scammed, don't fall for it, because yeah,
it's it's bad. So use security software that's going to
actually keep you secure. Kind of good good advice there.
So we're going to make sure you're secure and safe.
Once we've done that, we're going to do all your
(49:21):
security updates through Windows Update, all your device driver updates.
People get really hung up on doing driver updates. You
really don't want to use a driver update tool. Just
install whatever updates Microsoft has for you, and that's usually
more than enough to get you by. Then, of course
we wipe it down, we sanitize the exterior or something
we added during the pandemic. We get a lot of
compliments on it. My computer was cleaner, physically cleaner than
(49:43):
it was when I brought it in. That's really all
you can see. Right when you get your computer back.
If we don't physically clean it, it doesn't look like we
even touched it. You would could have done all the
work in the world to it and you wouldn't even know.
So we clean it up, get it going for you,
and everything is good to go back in your hands.
Four zero two, five, five eight eleven tens that you
can do at home. Some of it we got to
do in the service center for you. Got to take
our final break of the show. Guys, when we come back,
(50:05):
a couple sneak peak tidbits on the holiday special Laptop
and desktop coming up next on compute.

Thanks for sticking with us here on the program today. Guys,
you're listening to compute this. My name's Thor Schrock. I'm
the owner of the Shrock Innovations computer company. Final segment
of the program today. We'll be back online at facebook
dot com slash Shrock Innovations next week. So between now
and then, if you would, we'd love to have your
vote in the Best of Omaha competition for best computer
repair for Shrow Innovations. Also heads up that voting is
(52:04):
about to start in West des Moines for Computer repair
Best of Situations there as well. We'll have more on
that next week for you though. However, all right, so
real quick, we're gonna wrap up the program today. The
Holiday Special is coming, guys. It's a little early to
talk about it yet. It feels it feels early anyway.
It's like we haven't even had our first football game yet,
you know, It's like it feels early. But this is
(52:26):
when we have to start planning things. And there's just
so many cool things that I wish I could share
with you, because you know, we have to, we have
to hold some of it back. But I can tell
you with certainty that this year's Holiday Special desktop has
a cooling system in it that is unlike anything we
have ever sold before. It is absolutely phenomenal. So we're
gonna we're gonna have more details on that just I mean,
(52:49):
just cool, cool stuff. And like I said, the Holiday
Special laptop. This time, we tested the hard drive in
that sucker and it came back at two thousand, seven
hundred miles an hour. That's the fastest Holiday Special laptop
hard drive we have ever had, and it is just
phenomenally fast in that computer. And also we noticed something.
(53:10):
You know it's cool when there's something you didn't expect that.
We noticed that the computer actually has RGB lights under
the keyboard. It's back with keyboard, which all the Holiday
Special laptops usually are, but this is RGB backwith which
means the colors can change from red to blue to green,
or they can be consistent however you want to set
it up. It's really cool stuff, guys, so stay tuned
(53:31):
for more cool things coming up in the next few
weeks on the Holiday Special as we get close to
early bird time there as well.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
We're gonna wrap it up, guys. Thanks for joining us
on the program.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
We'll be back again next Sunday for another exciting edition
of Compute This
