Speaker 1 (00:00):
I think most of us have gotten it's a little
bit tiresome that we seem to be in a perpetual
election cycle, and we just finished a presidential election, and
I'm loath to talk about the next one, except that
Alexandriacazio Cortes is so ascendant right now, at least among Democrats,
(00:21):
and these rallies that she's doing with Bernie Sanders going
around the country have drawn a ton of people, and
the fundraising numbers that she's put up our eye popping.
And I want to chat about this phenomenon with Mike Han. Mike,
as a Republican strategist, joins us for a few minutes
on this Monday. Mike, good morning, Good morning. If you
(00:41):
are a conservative or Republican in this country and a voter,
should you be happy about this or concerned about it?
The idea that she may be the Democratic.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Candidate a little bit of both. Why both? So? I
think her being the Democrat, her being the Democrat nominee
is very plausible. I don't think she ever wins a
general election, which is something that we could be happy about.
But the fact that you know, this socialist traction is
really starting to gain steam on the left is a
(01:14):
little worried some especially for younger generations, but I mean,
you touched it. She raised nine point six million in
the first quarter of this year from over a quarter
of a million individual donors. The average donation was twenty
one dollars. So look, I think this is a sign
of her growing influence within the Democrat Party. She has
an ability to draw massive crowds, raise a lot of money,
(01:38):
and I think some folks at the DNC are going
to see that. And there's certainly warring factions at the DNC,
you know, We've seen this with David Hogg and some
of the traditionalists staff at DNC, But it sounds like
the socialist wing of the party really has has the
ear of the base right now. So I think it's
(01:58):
very possible she's the nominee. I don't think she ever
wins in general, hopefully she's barely.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
She's just thirty five, and that's the age requirement right
to be president, so she would be qualified by that metric. Yeah,
you know what's interesting. We asked the question Gemini in
the morning after November's election. Will this result cause the
(02:26):
Democrats to do a little introspection and self evaluation and
have we swung too far to the left, And apparently
they asser Mike is no right, No.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
They're saying we need to go further left. So I
think we're heading towards a divide of the Democrat Party
no matter what happens the next election, because you're going
to either have a traditionalist candidate run and if they lose,
you're going to have the socialist wing of the party
saying we need to run. And if they run a
socialist and lose, then traditionalist part of the party is
going to say, well, you know, we've gone too far left,
(02:59):
so we need to start, you know, getting a little
bit towards the middle of the road. Either way, there's
two huge warring factions within the party. And if they
can't stand another election law so otherwise the Democrat Party
as we know it is gone.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
Well, I don't know. They said the same thing about
the Republican Party after Bob Dole's big defeat, Mitt Romney
and all the rest. We tend to go through swings.
But what's fascinating to me is their behavior. They have
nothing to say on tariffs. They have come out and
said nothing specific about tariffs. What they mean to American manufacturing.
(03:31):
What they mean to main street. They've come out and
said nothing about the almost unfettered defense of criminal aliens
who are in this country. Where are the mainstream Democrats
on this? They don't have answers. It's become an anti
Trump movement, which is fine, But the truth is that
(03:53):
most of America believes in this. So that begs the question,
are their centrist Democrats out there? Is there a Bill
Clinton out there? Is there somebody out there that can
rescue this party? And if so, where is he and
who is she? Or who is he?
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Well?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I think that answer is someone something as simple as
Joe Manchin's there and he was run out of the Senate,
So I don't I think they certainly exist, but they
will never be given any air with the current Democrat Party.
They're not going to be heard from in the Democrat Party.
They're not going to be given a platform. I mean,
ever since the Obama years, the Democrat Party has had
a horrible messaging problem. They can't message on the proper issues.
(04:31):
They don't really care if the American people care about
the right issues. It's just constant Trump hate and it
hasn't worked for the last decade. It's not going to work.
And if you go anywhere off the mainstream of what
the Democrats are saying, they will ask you from their
party and they'll make someone like Joe Manchin look like
a Republican.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Wow, that's hard to believe him.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I hope they keep it up.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
It'll be the end, but they will have pockets in
this midterm election. Do you believe the Democrats will take
the House in the midterm, Mike No.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
I think the Republicans have a really strong chance under
under Mike Johnson, the leadership that they keep in the House.
The fact of the matter is that President Trump is
only one hundred days into this term. He's gonna have
a lot to show for the mid terms, and I
think the American people will come to realize that if
the Democrats get control of either House of Congress, the
end of the Trump Trump erarors is over effectively. And
(05:23):
I don't think the American people want a two year
You know that the end of the Trump years to
come come to a close two years early. So I
think that they're going to deliver a Republican House, Republican
Senate because they delivered from President Trump. They want to
see him deliver and they want to They want to
have him close out the term on him, on his terms,
not the Democrats.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
They might good to have you on. Appreciate the time
this morning.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Alrighty, have a good one, yeah,
