Welcome Jim Hegerty to the program. Our friend from the Better Business Bureau,
James, Good morning, Hey,how are you Gary? This is like,
well, thank you? This islike the super Bowl for scammers.
I assume we know that with arun on the mail hailstorm, you'll see
people come into town and descend onon homeowners. So but here we have
an event that's unlike any we've seenin forty fifty years. So what are

(00:25):
you seeing now in the way ofscammers trying to take advantage of this.
Well, first of all, Iwant to thank you and your team for
the amazing work last week. Thankyou. I was with you for hours
and you guys did such an amazingjob and you know, no doubt probably
saved some people's lives. Thank you, it was. It was just fantastic

(00:48):
work as always, And certainly youare right. You know, whenever we
have a natural disaster of this scope, our market gets inundated, you know,
with companies from out of town andand you know, we certainly don't
want to say that every national stormrepair company that moves into our market after
a natural disaster is bad, butwe do have we have a huge number

(01:12):
of wonderful accredited repair storm storm repaircompanies that operate in our market that that
these storm survivors cand likely utilize. So we really encourage the folks that haven't
signed with anybody just to be patientand to understand that that our local companies

(01:32):
are probably overwhelmed, but they canget to them, uh, probably in
a reasonable amount of time. Anduh and if you are solicited by a
national storm firm, uh and andyou know, and they may not even
acknowledge that. So it's super importantuh that even if a company says that
they're local, to take the timeto let the BBB help you sort that

(01:55):
out. I mean, you know, all you have to do is just
visit BBB dot org, use thenumb there, give us a call,
tell us who the company is,or Google just google the company. And
if you google any company and justadd the three letters BBB afterwards, it's
going to take you to a reportthat's going to let you know where they
really are. Uh. And soif you're signing with a company that is

(02:16):
from out of the area, youjust want to make sure that that they're
transparent about that. And if theyhaven't been, uh, then I would
walk away immediately And tremendous resource. It really is. Yeah. Yeah,
And if you're if you're being solicited, So somebody shows up, you know,
at your house, assuming that youstill have a house, but there's

(02:38):
there's damage, then you want tocheck their plates of their vehicles if it's
out of state. Uh, takethe time to get their information. Let
the BBB sort it out for you. You want companies that are bonded,
that are ensured, that are goingto guarantee their work. Uh. And
it's hard to know, Well, who do I call to find all of

(02:59):
that out front? And you justhave to just call us, visit us
and our team is standing by tohelp people get the information that they need
to be sure that the contractor they'rehiring is legitimate, is going to take
care of the work now and thenany warranty issues that may emerge later.
So again, Gary, it's justso important for these storm survivors to take

(03:25):
a breath and you know, notmake any quick decisions, resist any high
pressure. I mean, those arejust the red flags. There's no legitimate
company in these circumstances that's dealing withpeople that have been through this kind of
trauma that are going to put anykind of pressure on them to sign a
contract today and so. And onceyou do enter into a contract, you

(03:47):
want to make sure that all thedetails are there. When's the work going
to start, When do you predictedwill end? How much do I have
to put down? You know? When's my next payment going to be due?
You know, all of our greatcompanies they're here in Omaha are going
to be super transparent about all that, and they're going to be calm,
cool, collected, and they're goingto help these people rather than add to

(04:11):
this trauma that they've already. That'sgreat, Jim, and I would also
suggest that individuals check out because notall of our local companies are great companies.
Sadly there are, you know, but most of you know. The
thing is, if you go toBBB dot org check them out, you
can you'll find the phone numbers there, or, as Jim says, you
can put the name of the companyin and follow that by BBB and that

(04:35):
will give you a pretty good direction. Jim, here any better business bureau?
Thanks so much, Jim,
