Speaker 1 (00:00):
And if you're just rising and haven't heard, there have
been two issuances of smoke from the Sistine Chapel, black
smoke only so far no new pope. And Jonathan Savage,
Fox News Radio joins us for a bit from Europe
this morning. Jonathan, this is going to take a while, apparently.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
My do now, if history were to repeat itself, we
would have a new pope later today. Pope Francis and
Pape Benedict, who were both elected on the second day
of the conclave, PopEd on Paul the Second on the
third day. But this is a really unpredictable conclave. People
are saying they don't know how long it's going to take.
A number of reasons for that. Percent of the cardinals
were chosen to have by cardinals from all over the

(00:42):
world with a diverse range of views. And there are
more cardinals than ever before, one hundred and thirty three
cardinal electors, all trying to reach the point where one
candidate gets two thirds of the vote and that candidate
will be the next Pope.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
And the lobbying, if you will, goes on inside. Do
we have any idea of what the various factions are
or that say that two or three dominant factions of
the cardinals.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
I think the ones people talk about are those who
were very closely aligned to the vision of Pape Francis.
One candidate one who has seen as a really strong
possibility to come hope with the Pope Francis's own secretory
state Cardinal Powerlin. Another is Cardinal Tagli of the Philippines,
who is described as the Asian Francis. To either of

(01:34):
them get elected, we will see almost a repeat of
the Francis papacy. However, Paul Francis under went under a
lot of criticism during his time from cardinals within the
Catholic Church, some of them publishing anonymous letters eviscerating the
style and the record of Pope Francis. So it'll be

(01:54):
interesting to see where they go. Do they continue with
Pope Francis or do they go back to a more
Benedict's style pull and look at the Frontisira simply a blip?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Right? Uh? Well? Yes he was. Uh he was, to
put a charitably, very very liberal on He was the
opposite of Benedict basically, So I imagine there was quite
the argument happening behind those walls. Jonathan, thank you great
to have you on, Jonathan Savage, Fox News Radio. Over
there watching the chimney. You know, they got a huge

(02:27):
seagull up there purchasing perching on that chimney.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Want to be a smoked seagull?

Speaker 1 (02:33):
He may's going to be. That thing is huge. Either
that or that chimney is really little. You know, they
put that chimney in special just for these I thought it.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Was what do they do to get the white smoke?
Do they have white trees or something? Do you understand?

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Probably no, probably pellets, I would guess that produced the
desired color. Heard on that report yesterday that even the
people who are inside, uh, the inner sanctum, like the
caterers of Janet or all that, they can't leave, they

(03:11):
can't have any contact. Well they have, they have living
quarters in there obviously for people. Well fascinating.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I don't really understand the security issue there was. There
was something about how we can't allow any outside or
inside messages. What do you mean by that?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Well, you can't have any contact with the outside.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Get influence that it's about influences, Well, like who who
would be influential? Wove?

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I'd say, get another Benedict in there. Wow, we don't
need any more communist pops. Well, I guess technically he
wasn't communists because because he was an atheist. But he
was a socialist, but he wasn't a communist.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
So what you're suggesting is there may be influences from
the outside. Well, yeah, they don't want any So let's
say there's a George Soros out there who's a really
big Catholic and wants and he says, look, if you
get this guy speaking of communists, you know, if you
do this guy, hire this guy, I'll give you one
hundred million dollars something like that.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
They're afraid of this. I say, We've got plenty of money.
So I don't know what the influence would be. But anyway,
on that situation that it's an Asian this year six
forty two, maybe
