Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome Fox News Radios. Jeff Banaso back to the program.
And we were chatting earlier this week about what I
think are the abominations of those If you drive across Iowa,
in fact much of the Midwest, these wind turbines, but
they're also you'll see a lot of agricultural applications for
solar panels, many of them most of them made in China.
(00:20):
And Jeff's reporting this story, this could be a problem.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Jeffrey, good morning, Hey, good morning to you, my friend.
So Chinese made solar panels used on American farms could
essentially put US power grids at risk. From a former
NSA official, a former National Security Agency official by the
name of Rocky Coal, He's a co founder of i Verify,
(00:45):
a verity. He tells Fox News that China is positioning
equipment in strategic places across the US that could be
used to disrupt our commerce. After rogue communication divis were
found inside these Chinese solar powered inverters that were examined
by US experts for possible security issues, Reuters, citing two sources,
(01:11):
said that rogue power inverters have undocumented communication channels which
could be used to circumvent firewalls remotely as these power
inverters connect the solar panel to America's electrical grids, so
they could potentially affect our electrical grids. UH. And and
(01:31):
these could you know, these these inverters could be used
for nefarious reasons to affect infrastructure. They've got kill switches
in these Chinese made components. And it's not just the US, UH,
it could be the UK and Europe that faces the
threat of China being able to manipulate supplies or physically
(01:52):
destroying grids horrifying.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
It really is not to mention, not to mention the
equipment that you will find some of our some of
our grid UH stations around the country that are Chinese made.
And you wonder, here's the thing I wonder, Jeff, And
I don't know. I guess nobody has the answer to
this unless you work inside UH. The NSA is who's
(02:17):
ahead of who? Here? Are you know? What are we
doing to counter this? Number one in our country? And
number two? What are we what do we have that
may be able to affect China's ability? And so maybe
it's a mutually assured destruction thing, you know, Yeah, it
could be.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
But Cole says, it's very much this fits into the
model of China implanting hardware in American critical infrastructure that
I think that we've been talking about, at least outside
Washington for years for the purpose of planning cyber attacks
against the US in the event of say, a conflict
with Taiwan or something along those lines. That kind of well,
(02:58):
as far as we know, might with them at China
at an advantage. We don't know what we've got, but yeah,
you took the words it's scary.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Just half a minute left. Any idea what we're doing
about this, what these these these devices we've found?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Well, uh no, no, the the US government probably wouldn't, wouldn't,
wouldn't share those details with US. But a spokes person
for the Chinese embassy in Washington in a statement also
telling Fox News that the goal of China's pursuit of
development is to enable its people to live a better life,
that China poses the presumption of guilt under unclear facts,
(03:42):
essentially calling this a smear of China in the field
of imagery infrastructure.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Very good, right, Jeff, thanks have great weekend. You two
left Binasso Fox News Radio here on kf AB's Morning
news Man. You do wonder, don't you. You wonder if
the Chinese have the ability, upon the command of Chairman
(04:09):
G to just shut it off, shut our electricity off.
You wonder what ability we have to counter that? And
is it spy versus spy? I mentioned mutually assured destruction MAD.
That was a term common during the nuclear arms race,
which is why which is still in effect. By the way,
(04:29):
this is why nobody fires them off except maybe the
Iranians will. They're probably nuts enough to do it if
we let them get one, which we won't US and
Israel won't let them have will not let them have
nuclear weapons. I think that's I don't like to state
a fact with that kind of certainty typically and geopolitical affairs,
(04:52):
but I think that's a fact. That's a fact the Israel,
with the help of the United States, will not allow
it around to have nuclear weapon.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I certainly hope you're right.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
And as far as the Chinese and our power grid,
I'd like to think that if Gary Sadlemeyer on the
radio in Omaha knows it's an issue, that there are
some smart people at the Pentagon who knows an issue,
and maybe they've got some failsafes, but then again but
not me, like me, though that's right.
