Speaker 1 (00:00):
Great to welcome Iowa US Senator Jony Ernst back to
the program.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Senator, good morning, Hey, good morning, it's great to be
with you.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Gary, Thank you very much. I'm interested in because I
know you've you're ex military to begin with, and you
went over to Israel. Can you give us any update
on the status so the seven Americans still held by Hamas.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Well, we do know that we have three of those
Americans that are deceased. We are still hopeful that four
are alive. And so, Gary, this is really desperate times.
We absolutely need to get these Americans back to their

(00:43):
family members. We would much rather see them come home
alive than what we saw with Hersch Goldberg, Poland who
was murdered just about three weeks ago by Hamas. So
times are desperate. We need a positive resolution for Israel.

(01:03):
They have the right to exist. Hamas should be decimated
and we need to get those American hostages back home.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Jem and I were talking earlier, but I can't help.
But I know that people were maimed and injured, But
the people that were maimed and injured and killed were
maniac terrorists of Hesbelah. These pagers going off yesterday, you
have to love the Israeli defense forces.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Well, I believe it couldn't have happened to nicer people.
So I'm encouraging all members of Hesbelah to carry pagers,
and you know, we wish them the best. So yeah,
and Gary, the thing is, we've got Iran out there
funding all of these terrorist groups. So whether it was

(01:49):
Hamas Hezbelah, the Islamic Palestinian Jihad in Palestine, the houthis
that are you know, targeting American citizens from the Middle East.
I mean, it's all stemming from Iran. And this administration
continues to appease, appease the Iranians. They won't do a
dorn thing about them. This has got to stop.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Maybe we can get them some pagers too.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yes, certainly pagers for everyone. So how does America?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So how does it work? So they got this pager
and somebody calls in and the thing explodes in their hands.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Is that how it works?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Well? Right, So there's a lot to be discovered. There's
a lot of really intriguing technology out there. And again
I'm just I'm glad it happened to them, but they
need to be wary. They can't hide no matter where
they go, we are going to track them down, the
IDF masade. They will all be tracked down by these organizations.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
You don't want to mess with the Israelis. Don't want
to mess for keeps.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Hey, how about this Senator Jonny Ertz. The Des Moines Register,
which is a newspaper of no great fans to conservative
as you well know. Some people call it the Iowa
Communist Manifesto, but that's for another show. They say that
Kamala Harris is within four points of Donald Trump.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Do you believe that?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Well, I don't really believe it. I have a hard
time with poles, you know, as they come out ahead
of the races. I think it was probably the Iowa
poll that had me down by you know, a little
before this time in my race four years ago, had
me down by five and I won by eight. So,

(03:40):
you know, I just I have a hard time believing it.
But what I would say is that for all of
my Iowans that are listening out there, we have got
to run through the tape and we've got to work
very hard to make sure that Iowans know we stand
with them. We're working hard. We need a change administration

(04:01):
to make the economy better. We need a change in
the administration to secure our southern border. We need a
change in administration to make sure that we have a
strong military that can defend our homeland. All of that
should have happened, you know, three years ago, four years ago.
When Kamala says her day one, I'm sorry her Day

(04:24):
one was four or four years ago. So let's make
sure we get everything back on track. But gosh darn it,
it is going to take us working very hard and
making sure that Republicans are securing that seat at sixteen
hundred Pennsylvania Avenue.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
I have a Senator Jonny Ernst with us for another
minute or so. What about this Secret Service fiasco? Senator Ernest,
If it is true that the problem is that the
Secret Service needs more money for more people, more resources,
is there any that you know of in the US
Senate that would that would that would oppose that, Well.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
I don't think that anyone would oppose it if that's
actually the problem, Gary, and so we're going to have
to look at this. I don't know that funding is
their issue. I do believe that competence is an issue.
So making sure that they actually know what they are

(05:26):
doing you know, if they are spread tooth in Gary.
I'm all about giving them every tool they need. But
I do think that there is a level of complacency
that exists out there in certain agencies and certain units,
and so they need to be trained, and they need
to be aware. They need to go through rehearsals. You know,

(05:50):
think about our fabulous military. They go through rehearsals and
training all the time. I'm not sure what their training
program is. I'm happy to scrutinize that and work with
them to give them everything they need. But again, we
have to figure out is that truly the problem or
is it that they're just not adequately doing their job.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, and I feel I feel bad. I got to
tell you, I feel bad for that the agents who
are right there with Donald Trump or any any protectee,
and they're putting their lives on the line. They're being
endangered unnecessarily by the incompetence.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
At the top exactly. And you know, I do want
to say God bless an individual that actually spotted the
barrel of a rifle, you know, through that hedgeline. Okay,
that's that's pretty incredible, and they acted appropriately, so you know,

(06:44):
that's a win. But the problem is that area should
have been secured long before the president hit the golf course.
So you know, we've got a lot to work through here. Again,
I'm all about giving them the tools they need if
that is the problem, if it is something else, we
have to focus on what it is that really needs

(07:07):
to be corrected, and perhaps it is those at the top.
They need to do better about making sure that those
guys and gals on the ground have every opportunity to
succeed and keep our former president safe.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Send it Earnest, thank you so much for the time
this morning.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Oh God, bless it. Gary, Thanks so much,
