Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our friend. Rory O'Neil back to the program, twenty four
to seven News national correspondent on the eve of a
very big day tomorrow, Rory, good morning.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Good morning Gary. A big, big celebration plan for Washington, DC,
and big, big protests planned all across the country.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Yeah, you've got Flag Day, you have the two hundred
and fiftieth anniversary of the United States Army, and the
president's a big parade and celebration of that, except if
you're a radical Democrat, you believe it's the celebration of
his birthday because he wants to be emperor, a dictator.
And of course there'll be a nationwide series of anti
(00:38):
Trump tantrums across the country. What are we expecting.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, these are called no Kings events. They're accusing Paonal
Trump of acting like a king by having this big parade,
which you don't typically have parades like this in Washington, DC.
But they're going to be all scale of size. I
imagine there'll be two or three people showing up some events,
maybe a few hundred, maybe a few thousand others. I
think a lot of focuses on cities like Chicago and Atlanta,
(01:05):
where we've seen some of these earlier demonstrations in Texas.
Even Austin will have one, as San Antonio another. But
there the governor has been proactive already calling up the
National Guard to make sure there's no repeat of what
we saw in Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
All right, and I guess the big one, the biggest
one they're planning is in Philadelphia because they don't want
to mess with all the security around the actual parade
in Washington.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Well right, and we heard President Trump say, you know,
you don't come here and expect to be protesting. He
wants this to be a full celebration of the army's
two hundred and fiftieth birthday. And again, if you're that
parade is it's late in the day. I think it
steps off in DC at six thirty Eastern time, So
you'll have the parade that includes what sixty seven hundred soldiers,
(01:51):
one hundred and fifty vehicles, fifty air crab, let's not
forget thirty four horses, two mules, and a dog.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I think it's going to be awesome. This is just
to celebrate, basically celebrate the birth of the American military
and fifty yes.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Exactly, and before it was America right back when it
was the Continental Army. And let's just hope the weather
holes that could be a fly in the ointment here,
especially for that air show component. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Well, and you know, we're just everybody's going to keep
an eye on what's happening nationally, particularly in the Blue Cities.
But that's tomorrow. Now on Father'sday, Rory, you're a dad,
are you? Are you a dad?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I am not, are you?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yes? You want one? All right, you can have one
of mine.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Bottom. According to the National Retail Federation, those kids are
going to spend about two hundred bucks on you each,
So no, that's they're not. They say one hundred and
ninety nine dollars and thirty eight cents twenty four billion
dollars record I spending. But look, if it's if you
take the family at to dinner these days, or you know,
(02:57):
have a barbecue lunch. Yeah, that price tag gift that
to that pretty.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Quickly I got from my youngest I already got my
Father's Day gift because she couldn't wait. You know, I'd
like it. It was nothing like two hundred dollars, but
but it was better than anything that would be two
hundred dollars. You gave me tales from the Minnesota Twins
dugout by Ken Hrbeck. It's a buck and I can't wait.
So that was cool. Now, basically we're just going to
(03:23):
spend some time together here and there on Father's Day,
which is to me what it's all about.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
They say, the new hot gift that's been building in
popularity in recent years, all those subscriptions, you know, the
meat of the month, Mustard of the month, those kinds
of things.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Uhat well, if the if they if they really pulled
the dad, the dad would be what are the chances
of you delivering to me this gift you getting off
the company payroll?
Speaker 1 (03:54):
That's a real good.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
That's the gift money on me.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Yeah, that's the gift that keeps on giving. The other
one is when are you going to give me my
basement back? That's another good gift for Father's Day.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah. What was the full tank of gas in the
car right now?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
What was the average number there rory for giff one.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Hundred and ninety nine dollars thirty eight so just under
two hundred bucks. By the way, twenty four billions total
spending for Father's Day. We spent thirty four billion for
Mother's Day.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Yeah, well they they were more involved in the birth
of the child.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
That's true, although you know there was a role. By
the way it used to be, this is the old rule.
It used to be that Father's Day was the number
one day of the year for collect phone calls.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, well it's it's a it's a nice celebration and
happy Father's Day to all the day's out there. And Rory,
thanks for the updates this morning and we'll be in touch. Hey,
thanks Gerry, Rory O'Neil
