Speaker 1 (00:00):
Check in with our official Husker fan, Richie and Papillion Ritchie.
Good morning, guys, how are we doing good? Scott's in
here for Rosie today and I know you had.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
A Rosie on vacation again, that was quick.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
You know he's away on business.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I think, yeah, business. Hey, before we start, I need
to say thank you. I got stuck at Haymarket Park
and this huge muddle hole on Saturday before the Michigan
game and two guys pulled me out. I mean I
was stuck. They had rain with something a lot the
night before, and they just came out of nowhere and
(00:37):
pulled me out. And I never got a chance to
get back and say goodbye or give them something because
they split it ready. But thank you. It was unbelievable.
That's Nebraska, so absolutely back home, that would have been
laughed at. They would have been oh you know.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
So that was so first loss of the season. Who
needs to be fired now? Richie?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Well, look, let's let's talk the opening drive. Let's let's
go with that. We got down to what the six
yard line, second and three, and for some reason, a
brilliant offensive coordinator calls a fade pass in the corner
in the end zone, which never works, all right, So
that just kills the whole drive. You run the ball
three times right there up the middle, that's what you do,
(01:20):
and then you take the points. Always take the points
on an opening drive. That was I just don't understand.
And you know, Coach who was not young. They all
do it. The Giants did it on Sunday. They all
do it. Take the points. I don't understand. And then
of course we missed the field goal on the next
set of downs of the defense got the three and out,
and then of course there's the touchdown when our wide
(01:42):
receiver stepped out of bounds, right. We lost four points there.
I mean the third down stops in the fourth quarter,
which we never do. I don't know is the three
of those I believe when we could have got the
ball back. Our offensive line is very disappointing. I just
don't stand what happened there, especially the left side, the tackles,
(02:03):
the rotations and stuff. I think we gave up like
three hundred yards rushing. So the defensive line obviously is
too small. We all see that. But I will say
one thing for coach rule, that one second left brilliant
because I didn't know what he was do. Yeah, yeah, brilliant.
That was a brilliant that definitely was in the playbook.
And that's the stuff that that makes me say, Okay,
(02:25):
you know these guys got it. They know what they're doing.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
That's a very low percentage play. But man, it was
so perfectly executed.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Yeah, but you couldn't nothing bad. Could it really happened? Right?
I mean, you're just whipping it into the end zone
and we'll see what and if you get a fifteen
yard penalty, you know, who knows, maybe get a field goalf.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
So is there any solace in the fact that we
played pretty awful and almost beat a pretty decent Michigan team.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Well, I don't think they're that decent. So yeah, there
isn't because we've been doing that for a couple of years.
You know, we're close, we're closed. We should have won
this football game. We should have won this football We
should have a lot of things. Yeah, but again mistakes.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Michigan has two years removed from a national championship. Nebraska's
two years removed from a few stretch of miss That.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Don't mean nothing, Scott, that don't mean nothing because the
way the transfer Porter portal goes and everything. Teams change overnight,
so you know, there's still a pretty good team. And
they beat us on the line of scrimmage. That's why
we lost the game. Their offensive line and their defensive
line crushed us. That's why we lost. But I still
believe if we put a touchdown on that opening drive,
(03:32):
everything's different.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Different complexion for sure. Ritchie I got this email. The
best pass protection is a good running game. Osborne and
Solich knew this. No one sends them appears to believe
that that's signed Dylan Ryola. No, that's actually from day
that's actually from.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
The running game. But we do have a running game.
We got a pretty good running back and we got
some young backs there and and again that opening drive,
we went right down the field. But you know, they
like to throw the ball. Now, that's what it is.
Everyone wants to go to the NFL and all of
this stuff. And you know our quarterback has when we
have three hundred yards passing and three touchdowns. If you
would have told me that before the game, I'm like,
(04:12):
we're gonna win this game.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Seventy five or something.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
I mean, he had that one bad throw. You know.
Of course, they scored seven on that bad throw. It
just seems like when we make mistakes, we can't you know,
overcome them, and they cost costs us points all the time.
And we're still in that that zone. So but yeah,
you know, I thought we should have won the game.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Well, Ritchie, folks, you need are had a tough weekend.
There was that MYA Giants, and now Russell Wilson is
going to be sitting on the bench. What do you
think of this?
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, I got my somebody gave me add Jersey, my
buddy Josha. I go to the games that he got
me at dar Jersey. I'll be wearing that Sunday. It's
something to look forward to, you know. Again, you know,
we had opportunities in that first half to score on
Kansas City and we didn't. Same thing. Steaks, the Steaks,
it's they mirror each other. My two football teams mirror
each other and every way it's amazing. So you know,
(05:06):
you just move on and you know we'll get you.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
We'll get your pick from Michigan State next Friday. Ritchie, thanks,
have a great weekend. That's our official Husker fan Ritchie
and Papillion here on Big Red Radio.
