Speaker 1 (00:00):
And with everything moved up because of Thanksgiving week and
the Black Friday Game, we go to our official Uscar fan,
Richie and Papillion a couple of days early this week. Richie,
good morning, Happy Thanksgiving, and advance. And I got to
ask you, we're ranked that last Saturday, ranked that one,
(00:21):
and all the days you'll spend in the stadium, I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
You said that that stadium had a sense of when
the game well, you know, as we were going on
and on, we were like fencing what was going to happen?
And I'm going about twenty twenty plus years and everyone
stayed to the end and it was almost like everyone
just took a breath and said, finally a sense of relief.
(00:44):
It was tremendous. It was one of the best feelings
that I can remember that since I've been going. It
was great. I mean, you know, the game, it was
a complete game. The defense is making plays, the offense
is making plays, the special teams. Is that complimentary game
we were waiting for. And no one left, No one
left the game and the smiles and everybody and it's
(01:07):
just a bowl game. It's only six wins, but you
know what, it's stup number one.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, well it was. It was incredible also because of
the conditioning we've been through for the last what fifteen
twenty years. Well, Wisconsin scored a couple, hang on, Richard,
Wisconsin scored a couple there in the second half, and
everybody was starting, Okay, here we go again, but no,
(01:32):
Nebraska turned it around.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah that's true too. Look, it was a great, great day.
You know, we had the weather, everything was good, and
and finally everybody got to breathe again. And we're breathing now,
and now we got something to tape. We got to
finish up Friday, get that seventh win, get the better
bowl game, and beat Iowa, and all of a sudden,
he's seven and five and it doesn't look quite as
(01:56):
bad as a few weeks ago. And you can win
that eighth game, and you got all this momentum going
into next year with a really good recruiting class, and
whatever it takes to keep this OCA, you gotta do it.
Just Look, we like to write checks, especially when people
ain't here. Yeah, write this guy at check for at
least one more year, because it's obvious that this guy
(02:17):
has changed things. You know, it's much Chris bur He's
an impact on Dylan run game. It goes right there.
It's like a domino effect. I mean we had almost
five hundred yards, I mean forty four points. I mean
it's obvious this guy needs to stay here.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah, this was a real step forward I think for
the offense on a lot of levels. And I'm anxious
to see what happens on Friday, because you're talking about
a defense that is really catered. The catered to give
up big chunks of yards to an offense like Nebraska's.
You go back a couple of years ago, Iowa had
a really really stout defense, but Nebraska hit him with
(02:53):
big plays. Trey Palmer got free in the secondary. They
just don't play man to man well. And a zone
defense invites Dylanola to have a very very large day.
So that means they're going to have to blitz, which
is sum Phil Parker doesn't like to do. He'd rather
play in a base defense, get field position, cause a turnover,
his team gets a field goal, and they win nine
(03:13):
to six. That's how they do it over there. So
this could be a very fascinating construct. If Dylan Royola
gets what he wants, can we see what he really has,
and we have not seen that against a quality defense
this year. I think it's going to happen on Friday
because they're pretty stubborn and they have one really good linebacker, Higgins,
but he can't cover everybody, and they don't have people
(03:34):
that can keep up with Nebraska's speed, especially if.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
You spell like it.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
So we got to stop their run. They got a
heck of a running back. He might be the top
back in the country. Guys, guy, I don't six fifteen
sixteen yards. He's really good. You got it, you know.
But they have a quarterback and I don't think he's
throwing the ball twenty five times. No, you got to
stop their run, make them, make them throw the ball
against that defense. And on the other side, offensive line,
(04:00):
which I thought played very well, has to do it again. Yeah,
it's all where you win the game. On both sides,
the line and stop they run, make them throw red zone.
I think they're a very good red zone team too.
If they do get in that red zone, make them
kick field goals. We can win this game.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Oh sure, And you'll see the same defense Nebraska had
against Rutgers. This is the same defensive fall at big
heavy upfront, make them run the ball effectively, which is
gonna be hard. Yeah, it's a good offense. It's not
a great offense. It's it's a tough offense, but it's
not explosive. And Nebraska is capable of owning this game
(04:39):
defensively if they can stop the run and force these guys.
This is their third string quarterback. He was a linebacker
and it's going to be a cold night. So this
is gonna be I think a fascinating look at what
maybe Dylan Ryola can do.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
And what this you know, Iowa, Iowa likes. They'll hit
you with a big play every now, and you can't
give that up. That's fifty sixty yard run to flip
the seal. You got to stop those plays also, you know,
and they get a turnover. It to that this team
they don't beat themselves, so we can't beat ourselves. And
I believe they have the fewest penalties in the country.
(05:14):
And we all know what the reps do. They don't
like us. Look we know that. That's like, I mean,
this fact in this film out there, how the referee
is just I don't know what the heck they're looking
at half the time. So we need to play a good, complete,
complete game and and get out of there with a win,
and all of a sudden, everything is different here.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
So right away, Rosie, Richie and I have lined up
the perfect weekend for us. Oh yeah, yeah, just watch
the nineties as Giants beat the Cowgirls tomorrow, right, yes,
and then the Huskers beat Iowa, right and yeah, and
if VI Queens take care of the Cardinals on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Oh, you guys are not all happy. You guys would
be walking on air.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Have a good one, man, great to have you on.
Always there, he goes our official Husker fan, Richie in
