Speaker 1 (00:00):
We need a little shot from from Richie. With no
spring game, Ritchie, how.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
You doing, pil Pretty good, guys, how you guys?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Good morning, Great to have you back. What do you
think of there's no spring game?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Well, you know, I don't like it. I understand why,
because of all these changes. I thought, you know, once again,
you know down in Lincoln, they just do not make
good decisions. They should have played it this year. They
just don't. They don't make good decisions. They never do.
I don't know who's in charge and who's supposed to
do these things, but they should have played it this

(00:31):
year and then let people know this is what's going
on next year. And then you got to kind of
the year to absorb it. I mean this spring game,
first of it's a tradition that's gone now another one Pete. Yeah,
and you know families would go to this because they
could afford it ten bucks. You know, you get to
see some Huskin football, You develop a you develop a

(00:53):
relationship with it with the kids and stuff. They get
to go on the field. The drug pledge that's gone
now another decision they just they could do that.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
They can still do that, yeah, but they won't be.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
But they're probably not doing it though.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Right I heard it. It's not on the list, so
they're not doing.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
It, you know. And that's another thing. And then these
ridiculous games that they're playing between the quarters and stuff
like you know, in the NFL Pro Bowl, And that's
what I'm understanding. They're charging fifty dollars. They're going to
the new Legacy Complex. That is a disgrace. That's a disgrace. Okay.
I mean, I don't know who makes decisions down there,
but once again, not good. And you know, how do

(01:34):
you charge for this new facility. This thing should be
open for everybody to see and you know, and celebrate it,
and they're charging fifty dollars. Nobody's got fifty dollars anymore.
I just I just don't understand it. I really don't.
It's a big mistake and it's another thing that is gone.
I understand why they're doing it, but there are ways
to do things, and once again they did it wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
The thing that frustrates me a little bit as a fan.
I'm with you one hundred percent on this one, Richie.
I just think this is one of those things the fans.
This was for the Fans Bowl games are for the fans,
and when players opt out of bowl games, that is
a slap in the face of fans when they say, well,
either I'm not getting paid enough, or I don't want
to get injured or something. I mean that never Johnny Rogers,

(02:18):
his last college game, scored five touchdowns against Notre Dame.
He'm too worried about getting injured for the NFL draft.
But the frustrating thing to me is, you know, we
are concerned about putting things on tape or playing a
game because other recruiters are going to come look at
our guys and then start offering him money. Well, if
we have non cancelable or non transferable nil contracts, what's

(02:41):
the worry. If we sign Dylan Royola to a three year,
one point five million dollars per year or whatever the
number is, he's getting contract that means he can't go
into the portal. That means he's contractually obligated to stay
at Nebraska. And I don't understand why that's not part
of the legal documentation that is now passed from Nebraska
to the athletes. Why can't this just be okay, Well,

(03:03):
you're welcome to going to the portal, but this money
isn't guaranteed. You get paid per month, you know, and
that means if you leave in April, you don't get
paid for May. That's that's Jim Rose talking.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Maybe.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
No, it's like the wild West out there with this
nil everybody's doing whatever they want.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
It's yeah, and the judge hasn't approved that settlement. She says,
I don't like this. You got to kick these players
off the roster. No, so I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
No, you don't have to play doing Ryola either. You could.
You could put the green shirt on. There's a lot
of ways to do things that they could have done
this year. I mean, just like you said, the other
schools are still playing playing the Spring game. Play the
Spring game this year. You want to scale it down,
scale it down, but give it to the fans and
then next and then you have a whole year to
explain why you're not doing it. And it's fifty dollars
thing that that's what it is is. I can't believe

(03:51):
you're doing that. I mean, you know, then having an
equipment sales they can because they can.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Get people to pay it avoid sixty.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
But you know what they that's all they want down
is money, money, money, ever since we went into this
corrupt Big Ten conference. That's how I see it. All
they want is money. They took the clubs away, all
the clubs we used to have, they took those away.
Anything that didn't make money they took away. In baseball,
they took our banquet away. I mean, they just keep
taking and taking. You know what, Let's start winning now,

(04:17):
let's try that.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
You just keep showing up on Saturdays and pay your.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Money, you know, and I've never seen the university cash
your checks so quick in my life.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Well maybe they're afraid it's gonna bounce. Okay, that's probably
a legitimate just a minute laugh. Richie is also the
official Giants fan, not that we have one, but but
if we did, it would be you, Richie. You like
the draft so far.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
I love my first round picked. He is. He's going
to be a star. He's going to be like the
guy in Dallas Parson's. It's incredible how they play alike.
I I kind of like the quarterback. I wouldn't have
done that. I would have I would have I would
have I would not have moved into the first round
and given up premium draft pick. I think he would

(05:05):
have been there in the second round anyway. But my
team needs players and I can't take a first round
pick that's not going to play next year. But you
know what, they know better than me. So, I mean,
he is a good player. And just so you know,
I am a Sanders fan. I love him, So I
know a lot of people don't. I love him, and
I love Dion, you know that. So I mean I

(05:26):
hope that he gets Cleveland takes in that first.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Listen, you have a great summer and our next schedule, Yeah,
I think is going to be a Thursday. It'll be
the twenty eighth. That's that.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Ye, I'm going to that game.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
August twenty eight. No, you're going to be available that morning.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
I hope you're available available leaving that late morning.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah, absolutely, Ritchie, have a good one.
