Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's the season debut of our official Husker fan, Richie
in Papillion Ritchie. How many years has it been? Nineteen?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
And you know what, there's a room of going around
for the twentieth that Rosie's going to have a big
party on his yachts for all of us.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah, I've heard nobody, all the listeners.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Okay, anybody wants to come.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Anybody wants to come, just show up, Come one, come all,
enjoy hot dog, Ritchie.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
It's great to have you back. Give us your your
hot take to begin the season.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
I look, I know I've said this a lot, but
I really feel good about this football team. I think
we've turned the corner. Now. We've got a coach that
gets it. He's the right guy. He's got a staff
that gets it. They actually make plays better instead of worse.
I mean the way that you know we're opening at home,
which I don't know. It seems like it's been a while.

(00:55):
That's happened five years, only seemed to be that's a
long time.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
It's a very long know, we'll get a n.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Nice start one and oh the schedule of setting up
where I you know, I'm gonna say it, no, no, no,
on you right now.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
I agree with you, and I've got a lot of company.
I agree with you. That's that's the softest schedule in
Nebraska football history.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, and I know the Colorado game, it's gonna they're
gonna be a handful. But you know, from what I saw,
we should be able to do some things against them too.
They're pretty good on offense, but our defense is pretty good.
I think this that would be the defining game of
the season. And I do like the fact that Colorado
played alrighty, I'm hoping the whole coaching staff was all
watching it together. Now they have fresh film on it.

(01:36):
They don't have to wait for cut up stuff. So
I think that's an advantage for us.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
So if they if they weren't, that would be mal seasons.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, I feel really good about this team. I you know,
I'm looking forward to tomorrow. It's it's a nice weather.
Just definitely is a nine win team, there's no question
about that. In a nice bowl game. So but again,
you gotta go one game the time. You know, we've
seen this before. But I feel really good about this
coaching staff. This coach will gets it. You can hear it,

(02:06):
and you can see it well.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
There was a considerable lack of drama and distractions in
the off season, which was very refreshing. We forgot just
how nice it is to not have problems pop up,
whether it's players getting sick in the locker room or
players getting picked up for, you know, shoveling video of
their girlfriends having sex. All this stuff we got tired of.

(02:30):
Well in the off season, it was just it was
wonderfully boring around here. Nothing happened. We had a couple
of injuries in fall camp, which is understandable, sure, Teddy
Prohaska and Javen Wright. But I think that's a big
part of what a great coaching staff looks like, and
that is they are in control, they are organized, they
are doing their jobs, and it tends to show on

(02:51):
the field. If you have a solid program and you
know what's going on every day, you're usually better on Saturdays.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Richie, I'm with you on Matt rule. I think he
gets it. It's it's it's then. It doesn't matter that
he's not from here. What it mattered? What matters?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
I'm not from here either. I know it doesn't. This
guy is a good football coach. He's got good people
around him. They all are going with you know, we're
not ruddless, if that's a way to say it. We're
going to one direction, and the one direction is to
start with the football games. And that's going to happen now.
You could just feel it. It's just different. I don't know,

(03:27):
it just feels different. Now. Tomorrow we got to go
out and play at the football game. We can't be
fourteen fourteen at the half or anything like that. Win
that game tomorrow. You know, let let Ryola get get
his feet wet for next week and get some you know,
other kids in there. I just think that it's just
different right now. It feels different.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
You know. Florida State was twenty seven point Yeah, I know.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Well, you know what you remind the team of that
you got to play it again. I don't know what
the points, it's twenty eight touchdown twenty okay, you know,
I don't care about that stuff. Just play a good
football game. Let's all those turnovers. We got to stop
those turnovers this year that killed us.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Well, okay, Richie, I gotta I gotta got a comment
from you on this. This came in the other day
on the talkback Mike.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Okay, you guys, and this is Bobby from the Bronx.
I keep hearing this Richie from Papillion guy, and I
don't know. I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it.
He thinks he knows a little bit about college football.
But if you really want to know the inside scoop,
go ahead and give me a call. Richie suspect that
best Barry to pull his East Coast coin.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Thanks, guys, what can I tell you? You know, you know
this guy?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
No, I don't know know Theronx.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Well that's what he says. He's from the Bronchet. He
could be from Roston, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Well, you know what. Everybody has their opinion. That's fine.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
They always said you want half the people to like you,
half the people not to like you. Then you got
a good show. Maybe that's what it is.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Ritchie, we'll see you tomorrow. Great to kick off. I
guess you got it, Richie Unpapillion our official husker up
