Speaker 1 (00:00):
The latest in the President Trump versus Canada saga is
that he says, look, uh, the Canadians are now considering
a deal to become the fifty first state in exchange
for a Golden Dome missile defense protection shield at no cost.
I have wondered from the very first time that President

(00:22):
Trump said Canada should be the fifty first state, I thought,
you know, this is classic Trump. This is kind of
amusing and everything. But he keeps at it, and I
have to find out what's going on here. We're joined
for a few minutes this morning by Mike Han, GOP strategist,
and Mike is the former Trump campaign social media director.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Mike good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
This is uh, this is beyond ridiculous. It seems to
me the idea of the Canada to become the fifty
first state. What is he up to here?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, I mean, look, when we're talking about Canada becoming
the fifty first state, I think you me, your viewers
of us want two more liberal senators and think, you know,
the President's being serious about this, But.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Fifty five electoral votes.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
By the way, that's true too, that would not be
good at all. We'd we'd be funding the popular vote
can't working the electoral college. So look, I think the
President is using this as a negotiation tactic because we
have some really big issues with Canada. Canada is consistently
riding on the American cottails, and the president's saying no
more so when it comes to trade, he wants fair

(01:29):
trade deals. When it comes to national security, he's saying,
if you want to be a part of this, you
have to put up sixty one billion dollars to do so.
And certainly when it comes to the northern border as well,
it has to be secure. So the President is obviously
the art of the deal maker, so he knows what
he's doing, he knows what the clear vision is here.
And I think all to talk about the fifty first

(01:50):
state is a way to get Canadian's eyes open and
get them to the table and negotiating on these important issues.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Right. You know, there are a lot of I think
serious possibilities for partnerships between our two countries. I mean,
we're friends and allies and all of that, but there
are some strategic partnerships that could be mutually beneficial to
both and I wonder if he's exploring that with this
new liberal prime minister up there.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Sure he is. Look, I mean, I think the Canadians
are used to getting things for free. They like their
free healthcare, and they like their government subsidize social programs.
But the era of that is over with Donald Trump
in the White House. You know. He this goes as
far back to him telling folks in Native to pay
their fair share that America is done paying for the

(02:39):
safety and security of other countries and we have our
own problems domestically. So look, I think he has a
pretty good relationship with the Canadian Prime minister. I think
the Canadians are fully aware of the objectives that the
President wants to accomplish, trade, national security, and they're going
to come down and come to negotiating table. And you know,

(03:01):
President Trump likes to poke some fun, and you know
he he knows how to get them to the table
negotiating and get this in the news.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah. Well, the Canadians are concerned. They even trotted out.
They brought the king over there. They brought the king
up there, King Charles, he's he's actually the head of
state in Canada, I believe, and they brought him up
there as sure that we shall not any means you
know he went through that that whole we're sovereign routine,
which of course is true. Hey, I want to ask you, Mike.

(03:31):
I got an email from a listener and I don't
do you do you delve into a foreign policy at all?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah? A little bit. Yeah. I mean when we're talking about,
you know, political and fundraising, foreign policies huge for the president.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
If this is out of your if this is out
of your wheelhouse, just that that's fine. But Mike, or
rather Jim wants to know, having you having worked for Trump, Uh,
does he understand the President understand that Iran will lie
and they will get a nuke unless we destroy what
they have.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Absolutely. I mean I think the president is fully aware.
I mean, look, the Arianians put a hit on President Trump.
I mean they want to take this guy out them.
I don't think the President is disillusioned at all when
it comes to Iran's intentions. He knows that they're certainly
probably the biggest problem when it comes to our national security.
I think China is an economic threat, but Iran is

(04:28):
a serious, serious threat, and I think he's putting a
lot of emphasis on getting a deal that will stop
a nuclear weapon, whether that through diplomacy or through winking
at Israel and saying, hey, you know, whatever you need
to do.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Do well, they will. Oh yeah, I mean because they're
they're they're they're center blocks otherwise and they know it.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Mike, thank you, always good to chat. We should have
you back sometime if you're up for that. Absolutely, you bet.
