Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm going to address the Courtney doneho thing because we're
getting a flood of emails here. Why don't you have
live conversations with her anymore? It's a typical email, and
some folks are worried about her health. Now, I'll tell
you what the deal is Bloomberg and I read this
a couple of weeks ago. I think it was they
did some reductions in force. In other words, they did
(00:23):
some rearranging there Bloomberg World headquarters, and they let several
people go, and they reconfigured Courtney's schedule, so she's no
longer available on a live basis to us, which we
were all very unhappy and disappointed about. But it was
a Bloomberg deal. We had no control over what they
(00:45):
do obviously. Yeah, so we're partners with Bloomberg. We're still
great friends. Her health is fine, yeah, and we're you know,
we talked once in a while. But she's not available
in a live basis anymore. That's all that that it is,
And we just don't have having a control over what
Bloomberg decides right now for their people.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
If you want to fire off a flaming email to
Michael Bloomberg, we encourage that sort of behavior, so long
as it's not threatening and just say you're an idiot
for not having Courtney's.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Strongly worded message to follow.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, something like that, and I'm sure he'll read it
and might even respond to you. But yeah, Bloomberg is
like every other media company. They are seeing a little
bit of a squeeze and they're trying to stay ahead.
And this is a this is a reduction in force
for them, which means Courtney has other things to do
in the morning and she can't do her little team, and.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
They just reconfigured her schedule. She told me, she told
me that one of the people let go there was
her boss, So she's got a new boss. I don't
like the sound of that. Now. None of the names
that I saw reported having been let go at Bloomberg
where names were on air, people that I could tell,
none of them I was familiar with anyway.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, I listened to Bloomberg on the way in to
see if the world is still spinning on its axis financially,
and there have not been any changes. They have their
main anchor guys, which, by the way, I had a
nice chance to meet them a couple of years ago
when I was in New York City and they're great people.
And they hear Courtney talk about KFA and now all
the time, you know, like Michael Barr, he says, what
(02:14):
is going on in Omaha? She comes away out of
every conversation with you got to laugh in or rear
end off, and they go, well, you know, we crack
jokes and we have.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
What they have as you saw there and the beautiful office.
They have the logos of the prominent radio stations up
on a wall there and wear one of them and
they love it. Michael Bloomberg himself is a guy that
set that radio network. He loves it. He loves radio.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
He thinks radio is a tremendous medium for his business
because it's so immediate and it's so easily consumable in
the car or in other activities. Now they've got a
really great television product. In fact, Courtney used to be
on their Bloomberg TV product. David Weston, the former president
of ABC News, is one of their lead TV people.
(03:03):
It's not Fox Business, it's not CNBC, but they have
their niche and it's been successful. But Bloomberg started this
as a way to capitalize on radio's benefits and he's
probably one of the great cheerleaders this industry has.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
He is, and it was great to get the tour
there with Courtney and right over there, come over here,
here's Michael Bloomberg's desk. I mean, he's sitting out in
the open with everybody everybody else. He wasn't there that morning,
but well when I walked in, he was.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
And she goes, she goes, hey, see the guy over there.
I go, he looks just like Michael Bloomberg. And she goes,
that's the one you want to meet him. I said, yeah, well,
he's in a conference right now. But if you're around
when he's out of the conference, I said, well, then
I'll just hang around all day.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
So we're sorry this happened, but I didn't want to
just ignore it because we're getting a lot of feedback
about it. It was a Bloomberg decision relative to our
restructuring there and there. You know, their corporate suits and
all that, and it was out of our control. But
she's fine. Courtney's fine, but at least we get her
a voice on Earth more times in the morning with
(04:07):
those reports
