Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott Vordiez.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
We ended the show on Friday with a mariachi band
playing live here in the studio. If you missed the show,
then I'm not joking. We actually did that. We had
a guy who, at the age of about eleven years old,
was boxing in a local club and that's when a
young Terrence Crawford walked in there and said, hey, man,
that's my punching bag. Guy said no, you can have
(00:24):
it when I'm done, like you're done now, and they
started fighting, and to this day, all these decades later,
they're still great friends. And he was the young man
who was asked to go out to Vegas with Bud
Crawford in that Netflix fight Fight and provide a live
version of Bud Crawford's walkout music, which he decided needed
(00:45):
to be a song from the Antonio Benderis movie Desperado.
And they did a great job with that in Vegas,
and they came in and did it live here in
the studio. And that's all posted on the Vintage Vorhe's
podcast link on the Scout voorheaspage atkfab dot com. And
I said at the end of Friday show, so great
(01:07):
that we have Bud Crawford here in Omaha. Let's have
a fun weekend. And this is an awesome thing to
have a parade in his honor through the streets at
downtown Omaha. An honor it is to have Bud Crawford
representing Omaha. I said that at the end of Friday show,
and I'm saying it here on Monday morning. Now, in
(01:29):
between that, Bud Crawford was pulled over early Sunday morning.
This was after the Saturday morning parade. And then there
was an invitation only party at Steelhouse Saturday night, which,
as it turns out, was an honor of the champ's
birthday party as well, and there were a lot of dignitaries,
(01:53):
fancy people there, Bud Crawford's buddies, our guy who was
in the studio was Endo Roblists was part of that
as well. And then at some point they decided it
was time to leave. And that's when Bud Crawford was
driving his car. As I said an hour ago, I
think that it would be perfectly fine for someone of
celebrity status to have a driver. Now, I immediately got an
(02:15):
email from who was it? Someone? Sorry I lost the email,
but someone emailed me and said, are you implying that
Bud Crawford was drunk? I would say that he was
not cited for that. He was cited for reckless driving.
(02:38):
And if you thought that I was implying, hey, Bud
Crawford was drunk, I certainly hope that he wasn't. Nor
if he was given special treatment, that's just wrong on
everyone's part. I can only look at the facts of
the case, and they are these. Bud Crawford was driving
the car, and he was pulled over for reckless driving,
(02:58):
and we'll learn more about that here in just a moment.
But when I said, like he should have a driver,
Bud Crawford shouldn't be after a whole day in his honor,
I mean if I guess, if he wants to drive
himself afterwards, that's fine. But you got your your buddies
in the car. It's been a long day, your terrence,
Bud Crawford, have one of your buddies drive, have a driver.
(03:25):
I don't mean like stand outside Steelhouse with everyone else
waiting for an uber to come pick you up. You're
Bud Crawford. You got a driver, right, not driving myself.
But hey, he can clearly do what he wants. What
he can't do is goes speeding through the streets of
downtown Omaha, and even one of the guys in the
(03:47):
car is admitting that they were pulled over for speeding.
I don't know where they're reckless driving citation comes from.
But what happened next was the police said that they
noticed that there were guns in the vehicle. Turns out
that Bud Crawford and at least one other guy in
(04:08):
the car were carrying They are legally able to carry
their firearms, and as police were sorting this out, they
were asked to get out of the car, and while
the police were investigating, they handcuffed these guys. Now this
is where suddenly everyone's losing their cool. You've got the
(04:29):
people who automatically hate cops saying they didn't recognize Bud Crawford.
They just saw a black man and he was driving
well black, and he's lucky that he and all of
his friends in the car didn't get killed, because that's
what these cops want to do. They show up every
day with an agenda to kill innocent black guys. And
(04:49):
it's amazing these guys didn't get killed. You know why
they didn't get killed because they didn't do anything stupid
that gets people killed. First of all, they weren't pulled
over for driving while black. They were pulled over because
the driver of the car was driving recklessly downtown. You know,
with all the stoplights and everything. It's kind of hard
(05:11):
to be zipping along at over the speed limit, way
over the speed limit and driving recklessly in the area
twelfth and Capital. That's not easy to do. Someone emailed
me and said, hey, it was Bud Crawford's birthday. He
got the sweet new car and he was just kind
of testing it out. Okay, I get it, not at
twelfth in Capital, but whatever that was all about. Bud
(05:37):
Crawford's a big boy. He will deal with the citation
and hopefully make better choices next time. But really, the
implication here is that, and I'll tell you who's making
the implication is one of the guys in the car.
He is someone who went on Facebook. He was also
(05:58):
in the car, and he started suggesting on Facebook and
I quote, and I'll say what he said, quote to
pull over two men with as much training that we
have with both weaponry and physicality and point guns at
us out of your own fear lack of training and poise,
you should lose your job. That's according to one of
(06:24):
Bud Crawford's posse members in the car. All right, so
we got two cops. You have at least four people
in the vehicle, one of whom is the heavyweight champion
of the world. Whether they knew who he was or not,
they realize I think if we had to fight this guy,
we would both we would all lose. If we brought
an entire clown car full of cops out here, Bud
(06:44):
Crawford would lay some busters down right here in the streets.
This is why you let it be known. I have
a firearm. I haven't seen video that the firearm was
pointed at anyone in the car, but they did it.
Sounds like unholster their weapons and they put these guys
(07:07):
in handcuffs as they were trying to figure out, all right,
we have a lot of people in the car. We're
driving recklessly. Let's see what we're dealing with now. Apparently
this guy seems to think this guy being one of
Bud Crawford's buddies in the car. And I really hope
the Bud Crawford is surrounding himself with good people. This guy, though,
seems to think that if you get pulled over while
(07:29):
driving recklessly in downtown Omaha and you've got guns in
the car and the cops say, hey, I noticed that
you have guns in the car, and you say, yeah,
we're legally allowed to have these, the cops are like, oh, okay,
sorry to ask you about that. And this whole idea about, well,
these cops have weapons and physicality and training. You know
(07:51):
what else, they have a long track record of getting
killed in routine traffic stops. They don't know what's going
on here. They're just trying to make sure everyone is
doing what they're supposed to do and everyone is safe.
And that's what happened. These guys got out of the car.
There was some complaining, I'm not reaching for a gun
(08:12):
as Bud Crawford was getting out of the car. Smart move. So,
as Buddy says, these guys should lose their job, and
he continued said, had we fallen into your escalated behavior,
there would be a different tune being sung today. Yet
(08:33):
what he's saying is if we had tried to fight
the police officers or grab our guns or whatever, we'd
probably be shot. Yes, yes, you would. This is what
people have been saying, especially these last five and a
half years since the George Floyd situation, is when officers
(08:55):
are pulling you over. This is not specifically the George
Floyd situation, but in the wake of it, when the
police officers pull you over, they will tell you loudly
and repeatedly what they want you to do. What you
do is those things that they're asking you to do,
telling you to do, and then you get a ticket
(09:16):
or you don't, or if you're doing something wrong, you
go to jail, but you don't die. This is what
we've been saying. If we'd fallen into your escalated behavior, yes,
if you had also reached for your guns, you would
not be here today. You didn't good move. This is
the message that should be given to young men around
(09:36):
this area right now. But he says this is again
quoting from the Facebook post from one of Bud Crawford's buds.
He says, it is an extreme sense of urgency that
the cowards we weaned out of opd Omaham Police Department
running around here with guns and a false sense of entitlement.
(10:01):
Shake my head. Either there is a lack of training
or many of them are walking out the door of
their home every day with a personal agenda and chip
on their shoulder. Shake my head, we want the cop fired? Yeah,
how awful that the police are walking around here with guns?
(10:24):
Shake my head. Smh is how this is acrimatized.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Not a word.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
But look, Bud Crawford has a tremendous opportunity to be
a role model here. He's not the one saying this stuff.
Unless I miss something, Terrence, Bud Crawford hasn't said anything
about this. Now. His buddy is all over social media
(10:55):
and media. He's doing some stuff here this morning, and
he's saying these guys should be fired. But Bud Crawford
hasn't said anything. Before I start condemning the character of
the champ, let's see if he rises to the correct level.
(11:17):
Other officials have weighed in. The mayor issued a statement
saying we pledged an internal investigation, and Mayor John Ewing
says we must ensure that every resident, no matter who
they are, feels safe and respected in Omaha. I think
that it is a direct response to those who are
(11:39):
saying Bud Crawford was pulled over because he's a black guy,
and the cops pulled out their guns because he's a
black guy. I don't see that as being the facts
of the case. But this idea, well, every resident must
feel safe and respective. What about the police taking John
Ewing not only at his word, but at his history
(12:01):
in working in Omaha Police department. I believe him when
he says every resident must feel safe and respected, and
that includes the cops. How many people on social media
right now are not respecting the police. How many people
in Omaha right now don't feel safe if there are
a police around because what they apparently feel safe when
(12:24):
there's situations like this. Here's Omaha police take a sixteen
year old kid into custody after he got into a
crash in a stolen vehicle over the weekend. Sixteen year
old kid, other people in the car. He's been booked
into the Douglas County Youth Center. Those little scamps. All
he did was steal a motor vehicle and get into
(12:44):
an accident. The police every single day, this is two
thirty in the morning, Sunday, after late Saturday night, sixteen
year olds out stealing cars, getting into traffic crashes. The
police have to deal with this over and over again.
In our community. They're trying to get people like this
(13:06):
kid off the streets. And there are people that say,
I don't feel safe around the cops. Who do you
feel safe around a guy I saw on a motorcycle
there to day we've between two vehicles and a very
tight spot going through an intersection against a red light.
You feel safe around that? Or do you like it
when cops take idiots like that off the streets. Police
(13:29):
didn't know what was going on in that vehicle, they
ascertained the situation, they issued a citation, and now it's
up to people to decide how they're going to take
all this.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Well.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
One of those people is Omaha Police Chief Toad Schmater.
He was on the radio on this station just a
few hours ago. If you missed that conversation, you will
hear it next Scott Bodies where you're going? News Radio
elevenfab so easy not to get pulled over for reckless driving.
Don't drive recklessly if if that's if that's difficult to comprehend,
(14:02):
I can. I can ride out instructions. Step one, don't
drive recklessly, step two. See step one. I mean it's
not now, look I understand and appreciate my life might
be a little different than Bud Crawford's. It's pretty rare
that I'm driving a sweet new ride that can go
(14:22):
from zero to holy crap in a half a split second,
and maybe he wanted to test it out a little bit.
And then you get pulled over and all right, yeah,
I got speeding ticket. I'll pay it, No big deal.
I'm the champ. I mean I that's how this should
have ended, if indeed that's what happened. But now we've
(14:46):
got an investigation. The mayor has stepped in asking the
police chief to do an internal investigation to see whether
the police officers were in the vault wrong for asking
guys who had guns visible in the vehicle to step
out of the vehicle, handcuff these guys and then try
and figure out what was going on. That's not, in
my estimation, unreasonable. But let's hear from law enforcement. Omaha
(15:10):
Police Chief TODs Schmater was on kfab's Morning News talking
with Gary Sadelemeyer earlier this morning and the.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Wake of the Bud Crawford traffic stop. Was I learned
Omaha police pulled over Terrence Budd Crawford on a traffic
stop downtown early this morning. This was yesterday. After learning
of this, I spoke personally to Bud Crawford. I acknowledged
the seriousness of what occurred and how trust between law
enforcement and our community is important and shows the need
(15:36):
to be continuously vigilant about building relationships and Omaha Police
chiefs Mater has pledged an internal investigation, which I support
and want to be full and thorough. Todd, was this
internal investigation requested by the mayor or? Is this your initiative?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
By the way that took place, I mean realize the
mayor just spent a day with Terrence Crawford, so they
they had a relationship. So it would not be unusual
and actually proven for a mayor to give him a
call out to something like this what happened, which you
know it does happen from time to time. You know,
traffic stops are made in our city. The internal affairs investigation.
(16:16):
I authorized it because mister Crawford requested a citizen's complaint.
He wanted the positis in plane, and I told him
I would authorize the internal affairs investigation save him the
trouble from having to come down and do that. Now,
I do that quite a bit, Gary, So there's nothing
special on this particular occasion, and I want every viewer,
(16:40):
every listener to know that as I conduct this investigation,
the fact that it's Terence Crawford is taken out of it.
This is just a police investigation into our policies and procedures,
and it really has nothing to do with who is involved.
As far as how I'll make this analysis.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
What can you tell us about what the police saw
when they pulled him over? What constituted reckless driving?
Speaker 1 (17:07):
So what I can tell you is the officers observed
a vehicle, it's a darker vehicle with with with no
plates in which legally had no plates. I think it
was recently purchased, and they saw the vehicle at a
high rate of speed going northbound on Twelfth Street from
Cast towards the Capitol or Capital to the Cast area.
(17:30):
So they jumped on it and they pulled the vehicle over. Now, normally, Gary,
when you pull the vehicle over, you can run the
plates and they'll say it comes back to Well, they
didn't have that option. They couldn't run the place. There
was no place, and at that point they initiated track stopped.
They go up to the.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Car, So it wasn't as if they were weaving through traffic.
They were just going at a high rate of speed.
Is there anything else about the incident that you can
tell us, Well, the one.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Thing then I will say for context here is you know,
the crux of the matter of the internal affairs investigation
was did the officers handle the scene and to stop properly?
And law enforcement is allowed and taught to control the scene.
Did they control the scene properly is what we're looking at.
(18:21):
Obviously that time of night, at one point thirty, there
was a lot of pedestrian traffic out and that's a concern.
And historically in Omaha we have had some fatalities in
that area by motor vehicle, a very high profile. You
can look them up or probably just remember them. So
law law enforcement has been asked to enforce speeding and
(18:42):
traffic enforcement in the Capital District or market area because
we've had some fatalities there. So the officers were down
there trying to address it.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Okay, regarding the firearm, it is true as a non
Nebraska law says, if I'm pulled over, if I have
a fire fire arm, I have to inform the officer
immediately of that, and where it is.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Right when right when you're pulled over and you have
a fire arm or legal firearm and you have to
declare you have a firearm. There's there's a few exceptions
that one of them may be that if it's in
plane view or something like that. This was so at
some point in time, but this was not on point back.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
This was not in plane view, right. The officer happened
to see it on the floorboard, at which point things escalated.
As I understand, it is that accurate.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Well that that's part of the investigation is whether or
not that's considered to be in plaine view, but it
is the officer saw a gun on the floorboard and
at that point in time decided to uh escalate the
control of the situation. I'll put it that way. And
you know that the investigation is going to dive into
(19:53):
all that. The one thing you know, I will say, Gary,
and I haven't gone through the investigation completely, although I've
seen the bottom on camera videos, but I always like
to see what the statements are of all the participants
because it adds context. One thing I will say, just
by watching the body on camera, this incident does not
find does not define Terence Crawford, and this incident does
(20:14):
not define the Omaha Police Department. I think in a
lot of ways, this is getting really really taken a
lot of blown out of proportion ways.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Well, but that's natural because Budd Crawford and there was
a gun involved, and you know, the headline is the gun.
The second line that nobody reads is that they were
all legally allowed to have it. They were all licensed
to have the guns, which makes it fine. That's the
state of Nebraska. But your contention to not a contention.
(20:44):
Your your issue, Todd, is that this was your decision.
This did not come from the mayor's office or any
other individual or any other organization within city government.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Yeah, that's what I said, Jim. I don't know why
you asked me question. I said that earlier came from me.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
I wanted to make sure because sometimes folks only hear
about thirty percent of what listen to thirty of what
they hear. I wanted to make sure that was clear.
So how long does this take, Todd? Because the mayor's
promised transparency on this one, will the public know more?
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Uh? You know this this type of investigation is not
all that difficult to do, and so the internal fairs
investigation can move fairly quickly on this one. You know,
I'm hoping to have something done by the end of
the week.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
What is the penalty for reckless driving should it be upheld?
Speaker 1 (21:41):
You know that's gonna be a court matter right off hand.
I don't know what the penalty is for it. Obviously
you'll have your your minimum and your max, and you know,
the prosecution will will either work out some type of
plea or they'll they'll this matter will go to court.
I'm not sure, Gary, it's not.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Depending on this severity of it, it's not much. It's
a citation points.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Yeah, gee, thanks. I wouldn't imagine the one thing, you know,
like I said, he was cited for for reckless driving.
Nobody was, nobody was intoxicated, and nobody was you know,
the officers appeared fairly calm to me when I saw
this video. That's why I made the statement, this should
not define Terrence Crawford and shouldn't define the Omaha Police Department.
(22:25):
And when I have the end of this result of
the internal affairs investigation, I'll lay out everything that I can.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Omaha Police Chief Toaschmator on with Gary Sadelmeyer and Jim
Rose on kfab's Morning News. There's one more thing about
this traffic stop that was let off that has been
left out of the story. Now it's it's in one
of the media reports, but I didn't hear it in
that conversation, and it adds further context into what happened.
(22:52):
I'll have it for you after a Fox News update next, Scott,
this is Nebraska's news, weather, and traffic. So glad that
you are here as part of it. You just heard
the conversation that Gary Sadelmeyer and Jim Rose had with
Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmater, And this is if you're
just joining us in the wake of what should have been.
(23:15):
As Mayor John Ewing said so much himself, he says,
my heart dropped and learning of this end to an
otherwise wonderful day and evening celebrating our cities world boxing champion.
There was a parade on Saturday morning in Bud Crawford's honor.
That night, there was a private party at the Steelhouse
that happened to also be his birthday party, and it
(23:39):
was a great time. And then Bud Crawford and a
carload of his friends went tearing out of there, pulled
over by cops because of reckless driving speeding. It sounds like,
as Chief Schmater said, no one in the car was intoxicated.
That's great, so reckless driving, high rate of speed. And
(24:01):
in the pulling over of the car, the occupants were
asked to get out of the car and they were handcuffed.
And people immediately said, like, all right, the cops come
up on the car, they should know it's Bud Crawford.
They ran his plates, they should know. How do they
not recognize Bud Crawford? How dare they handcuff these guys?
(24:23):
Pull their guns? All right, here's what happened. They pulled
these guys over strike one, driving way too fast. It's
real easy to feel like you're impervious to anyone who
might tell you not to do that or anything. When
you have a record of, however, many wins against zero losses,
(24:47):
and in your forty wins and three championship belts, you
have yet to even be knocked down. If that gives
you a sense of oh, I'm impervious, I imagine that
would probably do it as opposed to the rest of us.
Who are highly pervious. Bud Crawford, it's got to feel impervious.
(25:08):
He has to, by the nature of what he does
for a living. I imagine he feels incredibly impervious. As
I said, I am pervious. I don't know if that
word makes it sound like I'm a perv. Anyway, not arguing,
and then we move on to so first of all,
(25:31):
driving recklessly. Cops pull these guys over. Well, they ran
their plates right, No, As Chief Schmater told Gary and
Jim in that conversation you just heard and if you
missed it, I'll have it posted shortly on the kfab's
morning news page in the podcast link at kfab dot com.
(25:53):
He said, this is a new car. It's got thirty
day tags on it. There are no plates, there are
no plates to run. So you have a vehicle that's
got tags, thirty day tags. They don't know who the
vehicle belongs to. You've been speeding. And now we show
up here and the cops are looking and probably I imagine
(26:16):
they probably if they recognize Bud Crawford, it was probably like,
is this Bud Crawford, Champ?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Is that you.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
Now?
Speaker 2 (26:28):
I know that there'd be a lot of people would
be super mad if the cops were like, oh, sorry, champ, hey,
before we let you go with absolutely not even so
much as a warning, can we get a picture? Can
we get an autograph? And they're out there, Bud Crawford
does that thing that looks like he's punching a cop.
That'd go, well, everyone would enjoy that, right, Hey, can
(26:50):
we just take quick picture? How my kids love you?
Speaker 1 (26:52):
And they take a.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Picture, and then Crawford drives off, and honestly, maybe that's
how maybe that's how this should have gone. I don't know.
But when the cops roll up here, strike one, you're
driving way, way, way too fast. Strike two, we don't
(27:14):
know who you are. We can't run the plates. There
are no plates. And that's not a strike against Crawford.
New cars got thirty day tags. Cops also come up
on a lot of cars that don't have plates that
have quote unquote thirty day tags in transit tags that
are just something that someone printed at home and put
in the window to try not to get pulled over
because they don't have license plates. Either because they don't
(27:37):
have license plates, they're not paying for that, or they
stole a car, so cops don't know, and then as
far as well, they knew it was him, they recognized him,
and they had his license and registration right strike three.
According to his security guy, who is the one talking
to the media saying, oh yeah, we thought we were
(27:58):
all gonna die, he said, Bud Crawford never reached for
his license or registration because there was some accusation that
the cop pulled his gun because he thought Bud Crawford
might be reaching for his gun, especially after a couple
people in the car Crawford included said I have a gun.
Cops don't know what's going on. They don't exactly know
(28:21):
who they're dealing with. It's a it's a dark car,
it's the middle of the night. They can't see who's
in the backseat. They don't know. The cops have to
err on the side of caution. And that doesn't mean
let's just shoot everyone in the car and we'll figure
it out later. They didn't do that. Let's remember that
they didn't do that, despite the fact all these activists
are out there saying this is.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
How the cops act.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
His polar guns starts shooting. They figured it out later,
and all their cop buddies, they all cover for him.
None of that happened. They asked this guy who was
driving recklessly, who doesn't have license plates, They asked for
his license and registration. According to his security guy. He
tells KAE News watched seven Bud Crawford told them, no,
(29:03):
I don't have it on me. I left everything at home.
So he's driving without a license and registration. He wasn't
cited for that. But that's according to a security guy.
So the cops really can't fully know who they're dealing with.
(29:29):
And then I don't know whether they saw a gun
or whether the security guy said, hey, I'm just letting
you guys know I'm armed because he legally carries a
weapon and you're supposed to do that with the officers
in a situation like this, And then Crawford said, yeah,
me too, And according to the security guy, that's when
(29:50):
the cop, this is what the security guy told k
E TV says. The cop says he on Crawford's side,
went ballistic, totally unhinged. He said, get your hands up,
get out of the car, don't reach, don't reach. But
there was never a physical gun in sight, says Crawford's buddy,
(30:12):
everyone thought we were gonna die.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Man.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Now someone in the back stat started getting video of
all this in the video. Unless there's more to it
than or someone's got better hearing than me, I don't
hear any of that from the officer. I hear what
sounds like Bud Crawford's saying, I'm not reaching for a
gun man. As you know, the cop is obviously like,
(30:40):
all right, time to get out of the car. We
don't have a whole lot before all this happens in
the video, so you can't one hundred percent see the
conversation leading up to it, which means you can't see
whether the cop went completely unhinged. Ballistic sounds like that
there was some body camera footage there that internal investigations
(31:00):
per the mayor and Chief Schmaters stands here. They want
to look at this to make sure the cops behaved
in the right way. But we don't see whether the
cops were overly aggressive and insistent that these guys get
out of the car. We also don't see whether they
needed to get to that point because they requested that
the occupants of the vehicle get out of the vehicle,
(31:23):
and then, as is often the case, the occupants in
the vehicle start to try and negotiate their point. Let's
just trying to judicate this case right here. That's when
cops usually suddenly go from zero to sixty, pull a
gun and say get out of the car. If they're like,
would you mind stepping out of the vehicle? Why I
(31:45):
got stall?
Speaker 1 (31:45):
All right?
Speaker 2 (31:46):
Get out? You know this there, this happens too much.
The cops come up on you. You're in the wrong,
You were driving recklessly. They don't don't know whether this
vehicle is yours, stolen, has legal plates or not. It
has no license plates, and you don't have license and registration.
(32:09):
And two occupants of the vehicle just told the cops
we're armed. Put yourself in the shoes of law enforcement
in this situation. What are you gonna do? And now
you're asking to get out of the car. Maybe there's
a hesitation, Maybe there's just wanton disregard for the instruction.
(32:32):
I don't know. The cop now is loudly ordering you
to get out of the car. What is the cops
supposed to do? Hey, like, he looks at his partner.
They won't get out of the car. Well, I don't
know what to do you could, could please please please
get out of the car. Can you please step out
(32:54):
of the car. Please, I'm begging you, please, look it,
I'm down on my knees, babe, please get out of
the car. Come on, man, you're making me look bad
in front of my partner. I'm telling I'm asking you,
please get out of the car. He won't get out
of the car. Well, if you won't get out of
the car, I guess we have to leave. Ah. Man,
They go trudging back to their squad car filling out
(33:17):
their report. You wouldn't get out, you know, this is
not how law enforcement is trained to deal with the situation.
All these circumstances. Get out of the car. I don't
know whether there was pushback on that, but what's the
(33:38):
internal investigation going to show here? Officers ask the guys
to get out of the car. They did per their training.
They handcuffed these guys momentarily while they were just making
sure everyone's paperwork. You had two cops, you had I
don't know, I guess four people in the car. So
now they're outnumbered. They don't know what else going on
(33:59):
in the of that car. They can't really see. And
by the way, one of the guys you're putting in handcuffs,
whether they knew it or not, looks like a guy
who could box you to the ground, no problem, probably
with handcuffs on behind his back. So yeah, the cops
are probably gonna be a little bit on the side
(34:20):
of hey, are we about to get our butts kicked
or worse?
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Here?
Speaker 2 (34:28):
So police is, they're doing their investigation. The chief is
doing an investigation. So there we have it.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Again.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
I just checked a few minutes ago. Terence Crawford has
yet to release a statement about any of this. I
will be very curious to find out what that statement is.
If you'd like, Champ, if you're listening, I'd be happy
to write it for you, and it should go something
like this. I understand. I realized I was pulled over
(35:03):
for driving like an idiot the other night. That is
on me, and I was issued a citation, and I
intend to put my big boy pants on and deal
with that citation. I should not have put the public
in danger like that. Officers have to deal with a
variety of things every single day, and while certainly I
don't love how things played out, I get it and
(35:27):
I'm gonna do everything I can not only to make
sure that I'm not putting that situation again, but that
my legion of fans understand we should not put law
enforcement in this position, or put yourself in this position,
and there are things you can do so this won't happen.
My next fight is against the cop that pulled me over.
(35:47):
It's gonna be in Vegas in March. I hope you
all watch it on Netflix. Sign Terrence Bud Crawford. You
can have that statement for free.
