Off of the album Freedom that is Guitars and Scars
and the musician there is Omaha's own singer songwriter Chad Lee,
who's here in the studio. Chad, welcome back to eleven
to ten kfa B. It's been a million years, my man,
it's been a few. It's great to see you. First
of all, tell me about that song that.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Song is on the on my Freedom album with I
wrote a whole patriotic album. It is thirteen songs on
the on the on the patriotic album. And and you
know it is what it is, guitars and scars or
you know, runs from my blood and basically as.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
You yeah, as you're well, talk about that blood, talk
about your history. That led to songs like guitars and scars,
like like I've got your six like Uncle Sam, stuff
like that.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
So I've got family obviously, if I got family members
who you know, served in Vietnam and things like that.
And I was asked to do a it was Veterans Day.
I asked to do Veterans Day in Ess Park, Colorado.
And I spent about two or three days with these
guys that were just they were at this this place
(04:39):
or trying to get better from you know, all the
other ps PSCD and all that stuff that they're dealing
with and anyways that's coming out off that mountain. And
I told my wife, I gotta I gotta write something
about about this, just to you know, put something out there,
just to if nothing else, just to bring awareness to
what our veterans to deal with.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, you are a proud waiver the American flag. And
that's why you get a chance to be a part
of a really cool event next week. And to talk
more about that. It's a special event hosted by the
Douglas County Republican Party. We've got an assistant executive with
the Douglas County GOP with us here, Christy Globe. Welcome
to eleven to ten kfab.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Thank you so much for having me.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
What are you singing next week at this event? Absolutely nothing?
Thank you for asking. All right, So Chad's doing the music.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Chad's doing the music.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
You've got a really great speaker coming in as well,
who I know is going to like the music. Tell
me what's going on.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Absolutely. We have a Colonel Rob Maynis coming into town.
He is a retired US Air Force colonel with about
thirty two years of service. He has eighteen major awards
and decorations, including the Legion of Merit Award twice and
a bronze Start.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, this is part of an event next Thursday, late
afternoon into the evening called Stars, Stripes and Strings a
patriotic The Douglas County Republican Party is hosting this. How
did this event come together.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Well, we wanted to celebrate of course America and patriots,
and we're so lucky that we got connected with a
gentleman by the name of Tim Lampros. He's also retired
US Air Force. He worked crash fire and rescue at
Edward's Air Force Base and he has an incredible history
(06:28):
and resume.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
That he is worked with him on America's Wall of Honor.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Yeah, he is the artist, the designer, and the builder
of America's Wall of Honor. And for those that don't
know what that is, it's this monument of medallions and
they are meant to honor, you know, our armed forces,
in our first responders.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Yeah, there's the wall itself is an incredible piece of
art paying tribute to our military. But also there's a
whole presentation that goes with it as well. Are you
doing the whole presentation of it?
Speaker 4 (07:00):
No, he's just going to present it, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Because that's that's a half an hour and of itself.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
So when you yeah, when you've got General or Parmy
Colonel Rob Maynis there as your speaker, then you've got
Chad Lee playing guitar, you've got to you gotta squeeze
everything in. So this event is coming up next Thursday,
which we're already into October. That's October second. So when
I say this is coming up October second, don't go, oh,
that's months from now. No, that's a week from to day.
(07:28):
So one week from the day, October second, Christy, how
can people be a part of this event?
Speaker 4 (07:33):
We'd love to have everybody come out. You can go
to gop event dot com. Again, it's gop event dot com.
Get yourself a ticket. There's a range of tickets that
you can get, from an individual ticket to a couple's
ticket and uh, you know, just a general ticket to
go see.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Chad as well. And Chad, tell me about the performance
that you'll be providing one week from tonight.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
We'll actually just be doing two of us, me and
me and Scott Data, two pianos, two guitar, and just
kind of doing our thing. We like to say we
sound like a whole band with two guys, but pretty
it's pretty cool. So we'll be playing stuff off our
Freedom album and some other originals and then just some
you know, obviously some covers and things like that.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
You know, there'll be some people on your social media
going Chad's playing a Republican event. Okay with that? You're
okay with that?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Oh yeah, if you followed me in my career at all,
my high horse of the song that had that that
was a radio single a few years back. That song
landed me number sixteen in the world as an independent artist,
and that song is pretty republican.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
So if you check that out. Yeah, yeah, I want
to talk to you here for a second chat about
your arc of career because you've played in these big events,
thousands of screaming people and you played for like one
drunk who was not even conscious have done that? Right? Yeah?
So what's what's kind of what's the what's the what's
(08:58):
what's the high and low? Then for your career? Oh,
I don't know. I'll start with the high, Like, what
if you had a chance to do as an American
singer songwriter that you were up there and you're trying
to remember the words of your song because you just
can't believe that you get a chance to be a
part of this really cool thing.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
I think that one of the coolest things I can
think of. I mean, I've done obviously done a lot
of a lot of big shows. I was actually in
the first act to ever play at the Quest Center
when the Quest Center opened, I moved here from Nashville.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I didn't know. I didn't know that. What did they
do with the Quest Center that you were one of
the first up there.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
I was actually a guitar player for the opening act
for Grand Funk Railroad.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Grand Funk Open Quest Center Ever. Yeah, that was.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
That was kind of cool. Anyways, you know, there's been
a lot of cool, cool events. One that really sticks
out in my mind was me and my guitar player
did a did a show with Dirk Spentley.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
It was Dirk s.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Bentley Live on CMT CMT Live. Yeah, that was really
cool and it's a great show, like nine thousand people,
you know, and Dirk's was even doing acoustic, you know,
him and his couple of.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Guys, and it was pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, that was
That was kind of a cool show. But yeah, you know,
what about on the other side of the spectrum when
you were like, what am I doing with my life? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:08):
That's that's the other you know, four or five nights
of the week every week.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Was there is there one moment that sticks out where
you're up there playing and you're just thinking, what, what
in the heck am I doing?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I can't think of one moment, and there's been plenty.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
I was playing with the band in Kansas City and
everyone was kind of on one end of the room
and there was some space if people wanted to get
up in front of the stage. And at this point
the only people in front of the stage were like
three kids, and two of them had their fingers in
their ears. Yeah. I guess we were a little loud. Yeah, hey,
they they're the ones that told us to play.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Why that's why my aunts were when the fram of
Union's ants were sit in front of.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
The speakers of the right. Yeah, that's always good. Poka,
yeah right, probably no polka And next next Thursday, Christy
says she's not going to say, but we'll see so again.
This is an event put on by the Douglas County
Republican Party gopevent dot com. The guest speaker is retired
(11:10):
at United States Air Force Colonel Rob Manis. The Patriotic
Tribute has music by that guy Chad Lee and you
can hear the song. We feature their guitars and scars,
the Freedom Album and so much more from Chad on
his website chadleeband dot com chadleband dot com. He's on
all the social media as well, or wherever you stream music. Yep.
Absolutely gop event dot com if you want to be
(11:32):
a part of this event next Thursday here in Omaha. Christy,
thank you so much for coming on here talking about
this event and bringing Chad with you off the streets.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
