(00:00):
The other day we talked with acouple of individuals from the Nebraska Family Alliance
group. Are I thought three.I've now been told there are four signature
gathering drives to try and put aconstitutional amendment before Nebraskan's for the November ballot
dealing with the issue of abortion, which two years ago this week the Supreme

(00:24):
Court said this is up to thestates. And now the states have been
getting busy. We've got a coupleof rather pro choice potential constitutional amendments on
the ballots saying we'll allow this.Up to this time, a lot of
that language is very vague. Andthen you've got now a couple of pro
life initiatives, and this one thatwe're going to talk about here with the

(00:48):
chairman of a group called Nebraskans EmbracingLife is even more pro pro life than
the one we talked about last week, at least according to those behind it.
Come on here, David Zabolski toNews Radio eleven ten kfab as I
said, Triff Nebraskans Embracing Life.David, good morning, and welcome to
the program. Good morning, Scott, thank you for having me. And

(01:11):
just to clarify, we are acoalition member of Chooselife noow dot net.
All right, Chooselife noow dot netis the website that we're pushing people here,
chooselifenow dot net. This is acirculation that started getting signatures here pretty
recently, pretty late in the game, a couple of months ago. You've

(01:33):
only got days left. How's itgoing for gathering signatures to force this on
the ballot in November and then we'lltalk about what it is. There's a
lot of excitement. We've been allover the state. We're inviting everyone to
understand the truth about the sanctity ofhuman life and elevate human life with the

(01:56):
respect and dignity that it deserves. That a child inside the womb is deserving
of the same rights as a childoutside the womb. We've got great support
from churches across Nebraska, Christian,Catholic, non Catholic, but especially we're
extending the invitation to the entire community, you know, to recognize in the
dignity of human life in the womb. We have protections for endangered species,

(02:20):
we can surely elevate respect for humanlife to and abortion in Nebraska. And
that's what our initiative is all aboutHere's what it says. Quote, A
preborn child at every stage of developmentis a person. Wherever under Nebraska law
the term person is used or implied, it shall include such a child.

(02:42):
Unquote. This is the question, and you know it's it's become increasingly difficult
for some people to answer. Iask you, David, when does life
begin? Well, it's an easyanswer. It begins at the beginning.
I mean, our savior, JesusChrist was conceived in the womb for a
matter of days. When we knowfrom sacred scripture that Elizabeth readed Mary who

(03:08):
had who was with child, whowas with Jesus just days after the archangel
Gabriel greeted her and told her thatshe would be conceived a child. So
you know I created you in myimage and likeness. I knew you before
you were born. All of thesescriptural references. But life, any life,

(03:28):
begins at the beginning. And ifyou doubt that, you can visit
our website Choose Life noow dot netand you can see some fetal development videos
and it's extraordinary and beautiful to seethe development of human life in the womb.
I don't disagree. I've got twokids on my own and getting those
ultrasound photos was amazing. But thequestion, I mean, in circumstances where

(03:52):
we're not talking about the incubation ofthe Savior of mankind, are we talking
about the morning after pill being somethingthat would be illegal in the state of
Nebraska under this provision. Well, because the morning after pill prevent can have
an abortifation action that would prevent theimplantation of a child in the womb.

(04:15):
The morning after pill is an abortifation, So yeah, that would be a
problem. If you're terminating a conceivedhuman life that's imbued with the soul,
that should be in our mind illegal, and we believe in the mind of
most Nebraskans across the state, theywant to end the destruction of human life
in the womb. We have thousandsand thousands of pregnancy resource centered counselors and

(04:41):
clergy and medical personnel and just everysupport neat necessary to meet the needs of
a pregnant mother. There's no reasonin any case to ever terminate the life
of an innocent child who's been conceived. I appreciate you saying that the poling
suggests that the average Nebraska and theaverage American feel that that's way too stringent

(05:06):
to put into and to enshrine intoa state constitution like what you're asking here
in Nebraska, the argument being thatsomething like the morning after pill is not
what you just described it to be. Well, I don't think there's any

(05:27):
dispute that the morning after pill orbirth control can have an abortifation action.
It doesn't every time it's used, obviously, but it can have if it's
used after ovulation, it can havean effect of preventing implantation in the womb.
That's an undisputed fact from what I'veseen in medical science. Yes,

(05:50):
but that's an abortion. So howokay, let's just follow this true for
sake of I'm way on the outsideof this, and everyone else completely agrees
with you, and they vote forthis, and it gets more votes than
anything else, and it's in ourstate constitution. How does the Stay of

(06:11):
Nebraska end up regulating this? Howdo we enforce these policies? What happens
to those who run a foul ofthis provision in our state constitution? David,
Well, we want to end abortionin the state. So first of
all, abortion would be illegal.Elective abortion would be illegal in the state,
and there would be no exceptions forrape or incests. We would advocate

(06:34):
for a severe, harsh penalty forthe criminal rapist, and we would advocate
for every support for the pregnant mother, and we would we would advocate for
police sparing the life of the innocentchild. We would have no gestational limit
for age, so it doesn't matterhow young we were. All young ones
life must be protected. So allof those ramifications would be active in preventing

(07:00):
and respecting a conceived life and thewomb. And that would as all of
our laws are, those are allregulated in our interpretation of state constitution and
legislatives. I know what some peoplewill say, We've got two guys on
the radio right now talking about awoman's right to choose. Many women will

(07:24):
say, what in the world gaveyou the right to tell me what I
can do with my body, David. Women do have the right to choose.
They have the right to choose whetheror not to engage in sexual relations.
Pregnancy is a healthy outcome of ahuman interaction. It's not a disease.
Once there's a child conceived, there'sanother human life. So it's no

(07:46):
longer my body. It's my bodyand my child's body. It's that there's
a child and a mother, andthat's when we want to advocate for the
child. We do want to advocatefor the mother. We have pregnancy resource
centers that outnumber a board centers inNebraska fifteen to one, and during pregnancy
and after pregnancy, so we dowant to advocate for the mother. We

(08:07):
want to help them and love themboth. The website Choose Life Now dot
net David Zobolski with us. Thisis one of the petitions being circulated to
try and get the signatures necessary toput this before Nebraska voters in November to
potentially put it in the Nebraska constitution. As we have learned, if you've
got four competing constitutional amendments and theyall pass, what ends up being put

(08:31):
in the constitution, barring legal challenges, will be that which gets the most
votes. So we talked last weekwith this group that says we want to,
as the petition says, protect womenand children, and their petition says,
except when a woman seeks an abortionnecessitated by a medical emergency, or

(08:52):
when the pregnancy results from sexual assaultor incest, unborn children shall be protected
from abortion. In the second andthird trimesters. This allows some of these
provisions that you said yours does not. It also provides no restrictions in the
first twelve weeks of a pregnancy. And based on what you've said so far,

(09:15):
this is a group that calls themselvespro life. They want to stop
a lot of abortions in Nebraska.Where are they falling short in your eyes?
Well, I just referred to rapeand incest abortions. You know,
there's never a reason to abort aninnocent, healthy child. There's just no

(09:37):
circumstance where it's acceptable. I mean, when would you Scott stand up and
defend the child from abuse or violenceof any kind. There's no protections.
As you just said, it's nottwelve weeks, it's the first trimester,
would be thirteen thirteen and a halfweeks. There's no protections, and obviously
that's when all abortions occur in thisstate. So you know, there's no
protections for those children. That's whereit falls. We have to protect all

(10:01):
all of sacred human life. Irecognize their strategy. They don't want to
see a repeat of what happened inOhio in Nebraska, and I actually respect
that, but we can't respect itby we can't fight abortion with abortion.
We have to fight abortion by proclaimingthe truth of the sanctity of human life

(10:22):
in the world. Now, whatdo you think about those who are pushing
these rather pro choice works to protectthe right to abortion, which is in
some cases is written in such avague manner that someone who's not a so
called legitimate medical practitioner can make adecision, and the mother to be could

(10:45):
make a decision up until the pointwhere a doctor might say I see the
head that she can change her mindand end that pregnancy. What do you
think about not only the individuals pushingthat, but the fact that this is
such a hot political button coming upin the November election, that there are
a lot of potential party candidates, usually tied to one political affiliation, who

(11:11):
are hoping to ride a wave ofpeople pushing for things like this a woman's
right to choose in order for theythemselves to be elected in November. I
really think we need to be holdingan infant child when we have this conversation.
We're not talking about jellybeans. AndI want to respect any mother who

(11:31):
is in an unexpected pregnancy, acrisis pregnancy. If you will. Our
organization works with these mothers and helpsthem to meet any need, as I
mentioned earlier in referral, through agiant network of support. So we want
to communicate the love of Christ reallywith our brothers and sisters wherever they are.

(11:54):
That you know, we're not condemninganyone. We are trying to help
them to understand that this is thisis a human being just like you or
I or anyone else that we needto find a way to protect. We
need to work together to protect, and it's going to be a moral quality
of living that is solution to allof these issues. So we just appeal

(12:16):
to everyone to please remember that whenthere is a conceived child in the womb,
that is a human being that hasa soul, an eternal soul,
just like you or I, andthey are as deserving of the dignity of
life of respect as anyone else. They're not disposable. No one is disposable.
That's what we appeal to anyone. That's why we're just inviting all Nebraskas

(12:37):
to visit Choose lifeenow dot next torecognize that we need to be a state
that outlaws abortion and scott we areNebraska across the land, the heartlend of
Nebraska, rural Nebraska. The prolife people across the state do not want
abortion, and they've been signing ourabortion with our into a initiative without objection

(13:01):
to these issues. What about issueslike IVF, which is suddenly being debated
quite a bit in the United StatesSenate. Well, you saw that the
Alabama Court ruled in favor of thesereally conceived life. There's a reason that
the Supreme Court ruled as they didin Alabama to protect this conceived human life.

(13:24):
It's they're not, as I saidearlier, they're not jellybeans. These
are human beings that will grow tomaturity. And you ask when life begins,
and that's the key question for allof us to ask when life begins?
Again, If you're not sure, watch a fetal development video and you
decide, when would you kill thischild. It's just the IVF is an

(13:46):
issue where with every child that's broughtto term, eight to ten are lost.
So while it's beautiful that every lifecan be celebrated and nurtured, what
about the eight to ten and conceivechildren that are lost. And it's a
terrible tragedy that IVF is celebrated.IVF abortions are extremely problematic, and there's

(14:11):
a component, a spiritual component ofevil that really clouds the whole issue.
We have to respect sacred human life. We have to be a decent people
that recognizes a moral quality of livingthat invites people into family, into a
marital setting where the child can benurtured and can grow in the most healthy

(14:31):
environment possible. And that's going tobe from conception. IVF abortions are extremely
problematic, and we need to lookat that issue as a matter of ethics
where we can end the slaughter andthe killing of innocent human beings. So
when the Democrats are saying we needto have a vote here in the United
States Senate and protect IVF, andthe Republicans say, no, we don't.

(14:54):
No one's trying to get rid ofIVF, Senator deb Fisher Nebraska says,
quote, raising a family in thiscountry is a beautiful part of the
American dream. Like my Republican colleagues, I strongly support IVF, which has
made that dream a reality for millionsof Americans, including my extended family.
Unquote, is Senator Fisher an abortionist? Does she know better than those who

(15:18):
are pushing even late term abortions.I mean, where where are our elected
officials in the state of Nebraska onthis issue? In your mind? Well,
they often their platform is often lifefrom conception. So then I would
ask Fisher, Senator Fisher, orany senator who advocates for IVF, what
about those eight to ten conceived livesthat are lost? You know, what

(15:39):
do you say to those human beings? We have to remember that all of
these souls, no one is betterthan anyone else. All of these souls
have eternal value, and if youjust look at it biologically, these these
conceived human beings have the right tolive just like you or I. I'm
no better than anyone else, nomatter what their gestational age is. So

(16:02):
we have to really recognize the problemswith IVF abortions. When you talk about
IVF, you have to talk aboutthe IVF abortions. Fascinating conversation. I
appreciate you having it. We'll haveto see what the voters in Nebraska do,
both from putting their signature on thisseeing if it gets on the ballot
in November, and if it does, we'll have a lot more to discuss

(16:23):
between now and November, and thenthere's potential court issues. I mean,
this could go all the way tothe Supreme Court. This is not an
issue that can be decided this morning, but I appreciate your conversation about it.
David, Thank you, Scott.Choose Life noow dot net. We're
all going to have to stand beforeGod one day. Let's defend sacred,
innocent human life together. That isDavid Zibolski, chairman of Nebraska's Embracing Life

(16:48):
and the website they're pushing here forthis petition is Chooselife now dot net.
