Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott Vorgiez.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
There was a town hall held by Iowa Senator Jony Ernst,
and this is a little bit of how that sounded
in Parkersburg, Iowa. And he's been very clear about it.
He's been good about it before us.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
He's made it.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
When we are talking about the corrections in this reconciliation bill, again,
it's corrections of overpayments and people that have not been
eligible for these programs by law as it is currently written.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
So this is a give and take about this very
tired argument that the Trump administration is slapping food out
of the mouths of these poor people and families who
aren't going to have anything to eat now because the
Trump administration is really mean and Doge and Trump and
(00:53):
Jony Ernst are taking food away from people who need it.
And they said, well, no, there are a lot of
people who are enjoying some of these welfare benefits, food stamps,
call them, whatever you will. There are a lot of
people who are taking advantage of whether it's food stamps
or Medicaid who either aren't no longer eligible for it,
(01:20):
or we're talking about usually single men who can work,
but just for much longer than they should have have
decided they're not going to work. Why would they They
have some of their needs met by this program, and
that's not how it's supposed to work. So the argument
(01:41):
is is that the Trump administrations really mean and now
that this big beautiful bill is going to the Senate
where Joni Urnst and others will take a look at it,
they're going to keep slapping food out of the mouths
of babes. So this guy is bothering her with that.
She says, no, no, this is just taking people off
who should not be on Medicaid.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
So when you are arguing, when you are arguing about
illegals that are receiving Medicaid benefits one point four million,
one point for they're not they are not eligible, so
they will be coming off. So people are not well.
(02:24):
We all are going to die, Saven said Spolks.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Okay, all right, so that did someone yell at you know,
if we take illegal immigrants who are not eligible for Medicaid,
who are receiving Medicaid off of a program that they
are not eligible for and should not be receiving. And
if you think that's really mean, then please open up
your home and welcome people in there. Just say open
(02:55):
house and you're like, oh, did someone graduate from high
school here? Nope, it's just an open house coming here
twenty four to seven. You help yourself and whatever you need,
because that's what America has done. You're not going to
get this treatment anywhere else in the world. At who
in the world would be so entitled to think that
you could show up in some other country and go, yeah,
(03:18):
I'm here for all of my benefits. Who's taken care
of me? Who is so entitled to think that? But
we have certainly done that. America has certainly done that.
And so now it's saying, all right, you're not eligible
for this and we're taking it away from you. And
(03:38):
someone yells were but they're going to die, and a
very frustrated, tired Jony Urns responds, Oh, we're all going
to die. And now people are like, oh, boy, has
she done it? This is her disagree with that? Yeah,
(03:59):
this this is her let them eat cake moment. This
shows that Jony Ernst and Donald Trump and all these
Republicans want people to die. They've already they said, well,
this is the kind of a campaign ad that writes itself.
Jony Ernst doesn't care if you die, Jony ERNs is
(04:22):
taking food and medicine away from you. You're gonna die. No,
you're not because of this action. So they went back
to Jony Arnst and said, you have to apologize for this.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Right.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Here's what Senator Jony Ernst has said. She said, quote,
I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium
understood that, yes, we are all going to perish from
this earth. So I apologize, and I'm really really glad
(05:07):
that I did not have to bring up the subject
of the tooth fairy as well. For those who would
like to see eternal and everlasting life, I encourage you
to embrace my Lord and Savior Jesus CHRISTO. Now this
is the part where you wait and go all right,
Scott obviously made that quote up. This is the part
where he says, I'm kidding. Here's what she really said.
(05:29):
I just wanted to see if Lucy Chapman was paying
attention that part, which is kind of a given on
the show from time to time. That doesn't happen. Here,
that's what she actually said. She I'll read the quote again.
She says, I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in
(05:51):
the auditorium understood that yes, we are all going to
perish from the earth. So I apologize, and I'm really
really glad that I did not have to bring up
the subject of the tooth fairy as well. For those
who would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I
encourage you to embrace my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
You know, basically, it's one of those two truths. There
(06:12):
are only two absolutes, and that is death and taxes.
She's talking about death. So of course people are saying, yeah,
but the Trump administration is killing these people. No, they're not.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
If that was true, why would they have come up
with MAHA, Why would they want to redo all of
the FDA that's been approved, all of the drugs that
are not good for us. Because this administration wants people
to die.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
This administration wants people to be healthy. This administration wants
the economy to be healthy. This administration wants benefits to
be there for people in this country, either legally from
foreign lands or born and raised here. What we've seen
in this country via an invasion from our southern border
(07:06):
that was transported all across the country, where you had
people who were born and raised working here. The working
class poor in this country saw people bust into their
communities and put up in fancy penthouse apartments, fancy luxury
hotels that they couldn't afford in their own communities, and
(07:27):
they said, wait a second, someone just they crossed the
border illegally. They've been given some sort of temporary status
in this country while they await a hearing on their
asylum that won't happen for six or seven years. And
in the meantime, they just got a free trip here
to New York or Boston or Washington, d C. Or
(07:48):
Chicago or Denver, San Francisco. And we didn't have any
place to put them, so we put them up in
a luxury hotel and we gave them food, and we
gave them money, and we made them eligible for healthcare. Meanwhile,
I'm working down here trying to support my family. I
don't get any of the stuff. If I walk down
the street here in Harlem to this building and say
(08:10):
can I get a room, No, I have to pay
for it. And this is not right. And the reason
why we don't have a lot of these benefits and
opportunities for people in this country is because we're just
chucking American taxpayer money at those who should not receive it.
So do you want them to die? No, Jony Ernz
(08:33):
doesn't want anyone to die.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
This.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah. She made a pithy comment to a group of
people who were yelling at her, well, we're all going
to die. People were outraged. Ah, you white people, you
don't have if look, let's try and look at this
(09:01):
as fact based as possible. You're in the country illegally,
or you're in the country legally. You're eligible to work,
you've chosen not to. Either way, you're receiving medicaid that
is not going to be there much longer. You're now
giving a heads up that it's time for you to
get yourself right with the law and get yourself right
(09:23):
with your own your own sustenance. You've got to find
a job in either instance, or you've got to go
back to the country from whence you came, make a
life for yourself. And if you see your options as well.
I either do that. I either find a job either
(09:43):
here or in some other country, and I take care
of myself and I take care of my family. I
either do that or I just sit here and die.
I don't see where that's Joni Earns's fault because the
people who were outraged at this comment, they see that
(10:05):
as apparently the only option for those who are being
cut off from the taxpayer's teat Well, I can't get
these benefits, I guess I'll just lie down and die. Now.
I understand it's Monday morning and a lot of people
are feeling like that, but believe me when I tell
(10:27):
you that is not your only option.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Scott Voices News Radio eleven ten kfab.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
It was funny because it sounded like they when she said,
well they they were taking away medicaid from illegals, and
people said, they're not getting medicaid. Yes they are, and
then you know, she continues talking and then someone said
that they're going to die. Well, wait, are they getting
it or not. If they're not getting it, then the
(10:55):
issue of their life or death shouldn't be a consideration
based on what we're talking about here. Oh, they are
getting it, and if they're not getting anymore, then their
only option is apparently to just lay down and die,
not to get your paperwork in order, or go back
to the country from whence you came and get a
job and support your family and for those who are
(11:17):
in the country illegally, who would be losing their medicaid
because this happens to them as well. You have more
options than well, I guess I'll just lay down and die.
But if you want to, that's your right as a
human being. If you just want to lay down and die,
have at it. So she said that people got all mad,
(11:41):
and then here is her statement of so called apology.
She said, quote, I made an incorrect assumption that everyone
in the auditorium understood that, yes, we all are going
to perish from this earth. So I apologize, and I'm
really really glad that I didn't have to bring up
(12:03):
the subject of the tooth fairy as well. For those
who would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I
encourage you to embrace my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Unquote. Yes,
that's a real quote from Senator Jony Ernst. Here's some
of the reaction. First one here and the Zonkers custom
woods inbox Scott at kfab dot com. From Brian, it says, wait,
(12:28):
what about the tooth fairy? Brian will talk to you
later on the program, Ryan says. We go from Brian
to Ryan. Ryan says, I had no idea, Jony said
that until I turned you on this morning. But it
doesn't change who will vote for and against Jony Ernst. Sorry, Libs,
that's from Ryan. He's probably right, that's true all the time.
(12:51):
This person you voted for just held this, this nice
old man's head underwater for twenty minutes. He's okay, he's
really good at holding his breath, but he probably shouldn't
have done that. Well, he's still better than anyone who
would vote with the Democrats, you know. It's kind of
how it goes. And then there's this email. Scott sends
(13:15):
an impassioned message to Scott atkfab dot com and says,
you need to do a little research in what you
talk about. My sister, who is a cancer patient, is
sixty seven years old. She got a letter in the
mail saying that her medicaid is under review and could
possibly be taken away. That's what they're doing. They're going
(13:38):
through and taking away medicaid from people that are on
it and need it. It's nothing to do with the illegals.
You need to take your blinders off and realize what
the hell is going on. And that's the question. Jony
Ernst was asked and the terrible answer that she gave.
So someone that's dying of cancer that's on Medicaid now
might not get Medicaid to pay for the medical bills.
(14:00):
I know you're long off from worrying about that, but
this is what's going on. Take your blinders off, take
your Trump poster off your bedroom ceiling, and find out
what's going on in the real world. That's from Scott
sent to Scott at kfab dot com. I appreciate the email,
(14:21):
and I'm not going to unload on you. You've got
a sister who's going through an awful lot right now,
and you are in the same boat as a lot
of people who have either been going through health problems
or not. And then they get that Medicaid under review
letter and they're like, wait, I might not wait, what's
(14:41):
going on here? Since your sister is sixty seven years old,
I imagine this is the first time that she's received
a Medicaid review letter. Obviously, the timing is terrible. If
she had been going through this ten twenty years ago,
with whoever was president at the time, Obama, Bush, she
(15:05):
would have received the same letter. This has nothing to
do with Trump. This has nothing to do with the
evil Republicans. It has nothing to do with the big
beautiful Bill. It has nothing to do with whether or
not I have blinders on, or what ceiling posters might
be in my room. This has to do with an
(15:25):
annual review of Medicaid. People across the country, including here
in Nebraska, get an annual letter for renewal. It says
that Nebraska Medicaid is reviewing your Medicaid eligibility to see
if you still qualify for benefits. The first time you
(15:47):
receive one of these is, especially if you're going through
a health issue, is like, what are they taken away?
Speaker 3 (15:55):
My?
Speaker 2 (15:56):
That's not necessarily the case. Now, I don't know what
else is going on with your sister in addition to
the obvious and unfortunate health situation, Scott. But what happens
here is we're just letting you know that the state
is verifying your income, your assets, and any information they
need to ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria. The
(16:17):
fact that you receive this letter is nothing more than
a form letter. It doesn't mean that your Medicaid is
being taken away. But and I hope that the information
is comforting to you and your family. I also hope
that you've been able to reach out to the myriad
groups and people who can help you through this. If
you receive a letter and you have questions, there are
(16:39):
a lot of people who are happy to help and
explain some of these things with you. Sometimes those people
are with the eight hundred number you call with Medicaid.
And by the way, I have dealt with this with
a family member who suddenly was in the same situation,
had a very bad health situation. I'm the power of
(17:01):
attorney and received the same letter, and I had the
same reaction. It's like, what do you mean they're taking
Why in the world would they so? Scott, I've been
in the same situation you're in, and I do empathize
with you. But let's let's say, for sake, in case
you're sending another email and you're doubling down and you're
(17:24):
saying no, no, no, this isn't that, this is because
Trump's okay, let's say the let's just for sake of argument,
that President Trump sat down there with Elon Musk and
all these Republicans in the House and Senate and said,
all right, guys, we need to save a few bucks
here in the government, so I can give tax breaks
(17:45):
to my wealthy friends. Give me the files on Scott's sister,
the one with the cancer treatments, let's take away her medicaid.
Let's just say, for sake of argument, that's what happened
in that instance, which, by the way, is ridiculous. But
(18:08):
in that instance, here's what happens next. Your sister goes
for her treatments to save her life, and doctors provide
life saving treatment. There are then questions on how any
of this is going to be paid for. But there
are questions that your sister's dealing with as she's received
(18:28):
the health saving treatment that she needs. I understand that
there's questions about, well, what about this particular treatment, what
about this drug? What about you know, is it going
to be a generic? Are we going to do this?
If you go to the doctor and they need to
save your life, they're going to save your life, and
we'll worry about who's going to pay what later. So
(18:50):
this really has nothing to do with that. What you've
received is a medicaid under a view letter that people
receive all the time, no matter what they're going through.
A lot of people are breathing a lot easier after
realizing that the medicaid was under review and they reviewed
it and said, yeah, you still qualify, and you're like,
(19:13):
all right, well, then why'd you send me the letter?
Why can't you do the review and then tell me
if there's a problem. Yeah, that would be a great
thing to do, rather than hey, we're not sure that
you're so eligible for this, and then a couple days later, yeah,
we checked it, and you are like, well, check in
the first place, and if there's no problem, then don't
(19:34):
tell me. That would be great, but that's not what happens.
So I hope, Scott, and I hope that you'll send
me updates on how your sister is doing. We wish
her the best.
