Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott vorgiez our next guest here. You know as Doug
from the Hangover movies, and he also plays Riley Pool
in some of my favorite movies and also TV series
of all time, the National Treasure Films.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Okay, Ben, pay attention. I brought you to the Library
of Congress. Why because it's the biggest library in the world,
over twenty million books, and they're all saying the same
exact thing.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Listen to Riley. Listen to Riley and the actor Justin
Bartha now stars in the new film Nuked and joins us.
Now Justin. Welcome to eleven to ten kfab, Good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Good morning, Thanks for having me. Scott.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
I want to talk to you about getting into the
National Treasure movies because you are just kind of getting
started getting your feet under you in Hollywood, and you
were in a movie called Jeely, which should have been
a huge hit based on all the actors and stars
who were in it, and as you might recall, it

(01:04):
didn't end up doing as well as everyone had hoped.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I don't remember.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, I'm glad I could bring that back up here.
So you're dealing with the I presume slight disappointment of
what happened with Gelie and wondering is my career over?
And then you get this, uh this spot in a
Nick Cage movie. Can you talk about what that career
arc was like for you?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Wow? We started with a hard hitting questions let's go
uh yeah, I mean, listen, Jillie. It was a while ago.
It seems like it keep every year or two it
gets back into the kind of conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Well, that's because Ben and j Lo get married every
year or two.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah, Ben and j Loo. And then recently Seth Rogan
went on a talk show and said that he auditioned
for the part that I did, So that kind of
it certainly became a big joke, a Shodenfreud a moment.
But yeah, I it was. You know, it was the

(02:10):
first movie, the first time I'd ever been on on screen,
and it was a huge disappointment, to say the least.
And then the second thing I did actually was after
you know, Jili was directed by one of my favorite directors,
Martin Brest, and had an amazing cast. And then the
second thing I did was directed by Sidney Lamett, who

(02:31):
was another one of my favorite directors, a legend. One
of the reasons why I went to start acting. It
was an HBO project then that never actually came out,
so I went to zero for two with these you know,
brilliant you know directors in the beginning of my career.
And then I got sent National Treasure, and which I

(02:53):
at first, you know, I wasn't really interested in doing
a huge, you know, action action movie, and I was
certainly thinking that my career was over, which I think
all the time still, but I yes, Jerry Bruckheimer was

(03:14):
friendly with Martin Bress, had worked with him, and you know,
thankfully before that kind of movie Jali became a national joke.
He had seen it and actually strangely liked what I
had done in that movie. It was before it was
kind of recut by the studio, and I was able
to sneak into something successful. Finally.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah. I well, not only that, but then you had
the sequel. And then here recently, we're watching the National
Treasure series and here comes Riley Pool again, and we
were just so happy. My whole family loves those movies.
You can watch these movies with the kids and they're

(03:56):
intrigued by the plot and the mystery of it and
the care and of course your character is a bit
of the comic relief in this though. Just pretty much
anything Nicholas Cage does is on some level funny. What
was it like to work with him?

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Oh, he's the best. I mean, he's, you know, one
of my favorite actors in one of the great American
film actors of all time. I mean, he's everything you'd
want him to be. He takes big shots, he's incredibly professional,
he's brilliant, and yeah, he's just a lovely, original human being.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Well, we are so happy to see you back in
Disney Plus's National Treasure Edge of History, which is still
on that streaming service. Justin Bartha with us here for
a few more minutes. On eleven ten, kfab tell me
about this new film. You got Anna Camp who is
absolutely also incredibly funny the pitch perfect movies. You guys

(04:53):
are in a new film called Nuked, which is quirky
to say the least. Tell me about this.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, it's it's an adult relationship comedy. It's just a comedy.
I don't know when the last time you saw comedy
movie was, but we made one. It's super funny and
silly and fun and it's basically about, you know, a
group of friends, old friends that get together to celebrate

(05:22):
Anacan's character in my character's birthday. And while we're there,
we have a note phones party. We lock up our
phones to try to really connect finally, and one of
us sneaks to take a peek at the phone and
finds out that there is a nuclear missile headed straight
for us. So we have to hide out and we

(05:43):
all think that the world is going to end and
you have to find you know, you see what it's
really like for these couples and friends when they have
to start being real with each other.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
It seems like this is the same plot that got
Sean Combs in trouble.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
That got the same plot that got Diddy trumble.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Yeah, he got Diddy in trouble? Is this the same thing?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
You know?

Speaker 3 (06:04):
We don't have any baby oil in ours, but I'm
not How is it the state? Did he have a
nuclear What happened with his party? Did you lock up phones? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
I don't know. Probably here so we just got the
word here that did. He got two of the less
serious counts, but still they could send him to prison
for up to ten years against him. What's the wildest
Hollywood party you ever got?

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Invited to What a transition. I love this. I love
promoting promoting my comedy with Diddy and Rico charges. What's
the craziest party? I mean, listen, back in the day
I was, I certainly got invited to a lot of
crazy parties. I never went to a Diddy party, though,

(06:50):
I'll tell you that. But yeah, I mean, certainly, before
phones and before social media, things were a little more wild.
But yeah, I always kind of kept it pretty pretty tame.
I like to keep all my wild stuff on screen.
I like to film it all so you can watch it.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Well. Next time you're on with us, you'll have to
open up a little bit more about some of those
wild parties. We'll let you go for this morning justin
but we ask all of our favorite guests on this
program to say a line for us that we feel
is the best thing to hear first thing in the morning.
The line is, good morning, honey, I made you pancakes
for breakfast. But because I'm such a fan of the

(07:33):
National Treasure movies, could you say, good morning, Ben, I
made you pancakes for breakfast.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Good morning, Ben, I made you pancakes for breakfast.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Thank you very much. Riley aka Justin, Bartha pleasure talking
with you. I look forward to doing it again and
