Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott VORGIEZ welcome onto the program. Someone you know from
whether it's One Day at a Time or Hot in
Cleveland or the Kids Baking Championship. She has been a
part of our lives for all or most of our lives,
and she joins us now Valerie Burton Elly, who is

(00:21):
now hosting a show on the Game show Network called
Bingo Blitz. Valerie Burtonelli, it's great to have you on
the program.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Good morning, It's great to be here. Hi Omaha, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I've been around a while well, and it's it's funny
because I told my wife and teenage daughter that I'd
be talking to you this morning, and they both flipped out.
Now for different reasons. My daughter was raised on Kids
Baking Championship and my wife is often primed on Valerie
Burtonelli wine, so they're both very excited.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Oh okay, that's good to know.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
As far as I'm concerned, I think that you on
the radio with your son Woolfie is just adorable.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Oh thank you. Yeah. He has a really fun show
that I like to do for Mother's Day every year,
which reminds me I have to come up with some
music for the new Mother's Day episode which is coming up.
But yeah, he's got such a great like radio voice too.
It's like, what can that kid do?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
It's a really sweet dynamic listening to the two of
you on there. I wanted to take a little bit
of a left turn here because in doing some cursory
Google researching on you, it's it's unclear just how much
you still are practicing. But I understand you were raised Catholic,

(01:40):
and I'm curious whether you have any thoughts on the
passing of Pope Francis this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
I just saw that this morning. It's very sad, but
he's also now, you know, with who he's always wanted
to be with, So that's lovely for him. He gets
to go home. He was an amazing pope. He was
so beautifully giving and welcoming and inclusive and I think

(02:09):
very christ Like and I'm just impressed with everything that
he had to put up with and still kept his
beautiful kind heart.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, we were just talking about how he lived, very
very simply. He wants to be mourned and have a
funeral procession. That's very very simple. Meanwhile, here's another thing
that popped up as I was doing a little research here.
There was an article the other day from a website
called The List, and the headline was Valerie Burtonelli lives

(02:39):
a lavish life. How lavish is he? How lavish? I
figured that it would be your reaction. How lavish does it get, Valerie?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Well, I forgot to clean the litter boxes today, so
it's not going to be very lavish this morning. I
can tell you. Right now, I have one of my
cats sleeping next to me, so I knew at least
one not pooping in the litre box right now.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I'm many.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
It's not that. I mean, I'm very lucky. I've been
working a long time. But lavish is not how I
would explain my life at all. It's chaotic and crazy
and loving and fun. But lavish.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
No, Well, you talk about chaotic here. I'm looking at
the strategy to win money on Bingo Blitz, which just
debuted this month on Game Show Network. And you are
the host of Bingo Blitz, and you know there are
some people get really really anxious and tense over bingo.
You've decided to add the dynamic of trivia with this

(03:36):
as well. How does one win a whole bunch of
money on Bingo Blitz, you've got to get through.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
The lightning rounds. But I think makes this game so
much fun and also fun to play at home is
the trivia, because you can't get Bingo balls without answering
trivia questions correctly, and you can't get through to the
lightning round at the end without answering ten questions very
very sickly and getting all the balls. So it's a
lot of fun. It's it's stressful, but in the best

(04:03):
fun way. And I think for the home viewers, you
just have fun trying to answer those those trivia questions.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Are you a Bingo officionado?

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I am not, but I am a lover of trivia.
So this game came to me and I was like, oh,
this is too much fun. It's like a cross between
trivial Pursuit and Bingo and the four quests, the four
answers that you get and then the question that is
posed after it kind of make your brain work a
little bit. And I love to make work, make my work.

(04:36):
My brain work a little bit. It's not working right now,
my mouth.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
That's fine. It's a lot of fun, yeah, and it is.
And it's on weeknights seven thirty on Game show Network
Network Bingo Blitz. Valerie Burtonelli with us here for just
a couple more minutes. Valerie, also, in trying to learn
more about you on on the web, I find that
you you were married to Maryland Democratic Senator Chris van Holland.

(05:04):
Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
I was? I think Chris and I might need to
talk because I've never met him.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I'm sorry, not Chris van Holland Eddie van Halen. I
always get them confused. All right, So you know, I
know you've been asked a million questions about it. Here's
my question about someone who is you know, his music
is such a part of our lives, as was seeing
you on TV. So do Eddie's guitar solos follow you

(05:34):
around from the car to the store to the endless
earwarms of his playing on beat it or whatever? Do
you find his music everywhere?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Wolf's guitar solos? Now do that? I listened to Wolfe's
music all the time.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Well, you can't help but no matter where you are
last year, the minutes.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
You're crazy, I'm just listening to mammoths.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Well yeah, and his music is so good and Wolfy
does a great job, and like I said, I love
hearing you guys on the radio. Well, happy Mother's Day
to you. I've enjoyed your wine. I really loved Hot
and Cleveland. I look forward to seeing you on the
Game Show Network. On Bingo Blitz, Valerie, we ask all
of our favorite guests on this program to say a

(06:17):
line for us that we feel is the best thing
to hear first thing in the morning. Now, the line is,
good morning, honey. I made you pancakes for breakfast. But
because we watched you so much on Kids Baking Championship,
I'm hoping you would say, hey, kids, you're making pancakes
for breakfast, get to it or something like that.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Okay, okay, hey kids, I got a fun thing to
do this morning. Let's make some pancakes.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Perfect. Valerie, thank you very much for the pancakes. Thank
you so much for all the entertainment over the years,
from the books to the shows, and we'll look forward
to seeing you on Game Show Network. Thank you so
much for the time this morning.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Thank you so much.
