Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott Vordiez.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
No one else apparently will say this, so I will.
This president is out of control. More deportations than any
other president in United States history. We had during the
first term one point five to seven million people removed
from our country. Then and the second term one point

(00:25):
four to nine million illegal aliens removed in the second term,
the most of any president in United States history. This
president is out of control. Of course, I'm talking about
President Barack Obama, who has the record for most removals

(00:46):
of illegal immigrants than any other US president. Man, do
you remember during the eight years when he was in office,
all of the mass protests across this country who were
so mad that the Immigration Customs Enforcement ice were heading

(01:06):
in to meatpacking plants and going after people and fields
and going after criminal illegal aliens who were stealing social
security information to fraudulently obtain work in this country. And
Obama was like, nope, nope, nope, Malia, and he was

(01:28):
just going around and sending an ICE after all these businesses,
and they were rounding up people like crazy in this country.
The most removals of illegal immigrants of any US president
in history, President Barack Obama, This president is out of control.

(01:49):
So what I presume is it's a little late to
the party. But this whole idea about no kings, the
demonstrations this Saturday that happened to correspond with the president
of the United States birthday, which happens to correspond with
a celebration of the United States Army on the anniversary

(02:11):
of their birth if you will, there's a big army
parade celebrating our US military, particularly are army. People are like,
he's doing this because he wants the military out parading
in the square because it's his birthday. This is what
dictators and despots do. Yeah, and presidents who celebrate our

(02:32):
army and want to tick you off, that's what they
do too. So I mean, you know why else there
would have been protests against this president on Saturday, because
it's Trump in office and it's a day that ends
in why Now, look, it's rush Limbalwood saying now look

(02:55):
at you people. Really, I think the only sarcastic thing
I had planned on saying today was that run about
this president's out of control, so many removals of illegal immigrants.
That president was Barack Obama. That was the only sarcastic

(03:16):
thing I had planned to say today, and now Lucy
Chapman's right there. There will definitely be more sarcasm throughout
the show, some of it coming from most of it
coming from you. I do want to say this. I
absolutely understand that there are people who say there are

(03:40):
a lot of broken things in this country, our immigration system,
because there are some people who are in this country
illegally thought that they were being told, look, we're gonna
get you up to Omaha, you're gonna find employment, You're
gonna make more money than you ever dreamed of of

(04:00):
all you gotta do. You pay me and I'll make
it happen, and they got some status to be able
to go to work. I don't think that every single
one of the people who were taken out in buses
from this food plant in Omaha near seventy second in
l yesterday. I don't think every single one of them

(04:22):
yesterday knew that they were a hardened criminal rating the
social security coffers of someone who's either alive or dead.
I really don't think so. I also don't think that
there is not a single one of them who oh
I didn't know. I mean, when you see the video

(04:44):
of some of the people who've been detained and they
start flipping off the camera, and you know, I hate
to be stereotypical, but when I see some you know,
angry young guys who don't, I mean, I imagine they weren't
having the best day of their lives yesterday. But I

(05:04):
also imagine that they're smart enough to know, like, oh yeah,
I knew I was going about all of this the
wrong way, and I knew that I had stolen someone's identity.
I know that I had obtained this job illegally, and
I obtained entry into this country illegally. So I don't

(05:24):
think it's in all or nothing. These protests seem to
think that every single person who was rounded up by
ice yesterday here in Omaha, all they're doing, all they're
guilty of, is working hard. Certainly, there are some people
who fit that description and there are some people who don't,
and it's all being sorted out right now. But our

(05:46):
immigration system is absolutely disgusting in that there are people
who've gotten into this country through any variety of ways.
Some of these people are very good people, and they
would probably if there was a better way of going
about all of this. You know, like when you get

(06:06):
your property tax assessment and they say, hey, sorry, I
know you've been living in this house for a while,
but we've missed on assessing the value of your home
for several years. So we got to play some ketchup. Now,
here's the assessment of your property, and here's the property
tax payment that goes along with And you're like, whoa,
I got hit with this. All well, I guess I've

(06:27):
been living here a long time, and you're right, I
didn't get assessed. Now, it sucks that it happens this way,
but you know, this is how the game is played,
and you pay, you pay. You know you have two options.
You either pay or you move. How is this circumstance
any different for some people who've been living here for
several years and now their payment has come due? Like,

(06:49):
all right, yeah, we could have discovered this earlier and
found a better path forward, but we didn't, and we're
doing that now. And so here's what happens. You've got
the ability right now to pay. You got to pay
some ketchup for all the Social Security taxes, all of

(07:10):
the income taxes, whatever it is that you haven't been paying,
unemployment and all the rest of this, all the stuff
that you haven't been paying for years as you've been working.
Here's your ketchup bill. You have two options. You either
pay it or you move. It's the same thing as
when you get your property tax assessment. You either pay

(07:31):
it or you move. Is there a better way? Sure
there is, but no one seems to be working on that.
And I feel bad for people who are in this
country illegally. Many of them brought here as children, born
and raised here. They're educated in our schools, they got
driver's license on our streets. They're working in places like
Glenn Valley Foods, and they're working under shady circumstances because

(07:55):
they trusted someone who said, hey, don't worry, we'll get
you taken care of. We're going to get you a
job in here. It's all gonna be fine. Don't even
worry about it. There are a billion places across this
country or hiring people just like you. The chances of
anyone raiding this particular business and coming after you is very,
very small. So they go to work. And these people

(08:17):
aren't gang members, they're not human traffickers, they're not drug
lords and murderers, not all of them. And so absolutely
do I feel bad for the people who are otherwise
good and decent people trying to take care of themselves
and their family members and either made a bad decision
or thought they were making the right decision, and they're

(08:38):
learning now they were very wrong about it. I absolutely
feel awful for those people, and this immigration system in
this country. Apparently we're not interested in fixing it for
those people. I will also say this, there are a
number of different times either the federal or even some
state governments have tried to do something where they said,

(08:59):
all right, we're gonna give you a path to status.
Come out of the shadows. Here are the people you
can meet with, and here's a penalty you might be
able to pay. We're gonna get we're gonna review your
criminal history, and if you don't have one, we're going
to give you some sort of path to status. We're

(09:20):
not talking about citizenship, we're not talking about voting rights.
We're just talking about giving you some status. And every
single time that someone tries to do this, they're like, Okay,
any minute now, they're gonna come rushing through that door.
No one shows up. You know why. They think it's
a trap. And they think it's a trap because they've
had people in their community say, don't trust Whitey, don't

(09:44):
trust the elected officials, don't trust the government, don't trust
any single one of them. So if someone tries to
make your life better, it's a trap. And so they don't,
they don't come out, they don't take advantage of it,
because you've got drama queens like Roger Garcia, a member
of the Douglas County Board, who goes rushing out of

(10:06):
his meeting yesterday.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Oh, oh my gosh, I heard that there was an
immigration raid. I have to go be with my community
right now. And where did he go? He went to
the wrong place.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
He went to the place he figured it was, mister Homan,
mister Trump, you might want to check out this place
that someone right here in our community. When he heard
there was an immigration raid, he went to the wrong place. Oh,
I'm sure, no, I don't know. I'm sorry, my map quest,
my GPS direction is totally wrong. Not that I think

(10:43):
there's anyone illegal working in this place. I ran off
to I'm sure it's fine, you know. He even did
a Facebook live video like all out of breath and
I gotta go be with my community right and he
went to the wrong freaking place. And so later when
the media was saying, well, we think there are ice

(11:04):
rays at a few different places here in this area,
and then later, you know, like the city officials said, no,
we don't know why there were media reports that said
that there were immigration raids in a multitude of places.
We don't know where anyone's getting the you know, where
they're getting this information. Douglas County board member Drama Queen
Roger Garcia, who went rushing and doing Facebook live videos

(11:27):
at the wrong place. What is the CEO of Glen
Valley Foods? What does he have to say for himself? Well,
he doesn't sound like someone who's like, hey, you know,
we we don't know. We don't ask a lot of questions.
You know, these are jobs that your kids won't do.

(11:49):
These are tough jobs. And I don't even think he's
Italian or stereotypical Italian, which is a specific subset of Italian.
I don't think he's anything like that. His name is
Gary Rower. And the first thing he said is he
told WOWT six news while he wasn't made aware of

(12:10):
the operation ahead of time. ICE released a statement in
response to that, and the response is let's see, I
don't want to screw it up. Quote no doy unquote.
That's what they said. Why is this alway?

Speaker 4 (12:24):
I didn't hear that they say.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
They said, Well, the owner of the place where immigration
thought perhaps there was a hornet's nest of illegal activity,
and the guy running the place wasn't. He said, I
wasn't giving a heads up ahead of time. And I said,
and I quote no doy unquote, all.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Right, I just wanted to make sure I got that right.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, that's a wait. I'm sorry I made that quote up.
But it doesn't mean they didn't say it. Why is
this always a story Ice raids a place and they
don't know. They don't know if the owner of the
place is a great guy doing everything the way he
thinks he's supposed to be doing it, the way the
federal government has told him he's supposed to be doing

(13:07):
or if he's in there like you know, just bringing
people out the back door and you know, bringing him
intough like a sewer grade or something like that, just
come on and come on it. We'll pay you under
the table. Don't even worry about it. Oh, that guy
just got hurt on the job. It's Okay, he is
an illegal immigrant. Throw him away with the others, you know,
And it's just this awful place. They don't know, and
they're not gonna give the guy heads up because if

(13:29):
it's the latter, they don't want him to be able
to cover his tracks. So when every time, whether it's
Early Bird Brunch restaurant and that guy was arrested this
past weekend, or whether it's this grain or apartment Glenn
Valley Foods here in Omaha, and the owner comes out
and says, we didn't know. No, doy, you didn't know.

(13:52):
They're not gonna tell you now. Who's this guy. He's
a guy who seems to be doing everything right way.
First of all, what is well, where is Glenn Valley Foods.
If you don't know, it's just north of about sixty
eighth and L. So you're there at seventy second and L.

(14:13):
You've got the Ralston Arena now the Liberty First Credit
Union Arena or whatever it's called. No offense to the sponsor.
You got minards. If you go north east of there,
there's the Pepsi bottling plant and a bunch of other stuff.
And then I'm pretty sure Rod Cush is Furniture on

(14:34):
Consignment's still there? Right? What year is this? No?

Speaker 4 (14:37):
I don't think that's still there.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Yeah, I think there's still a guy out there dressed
like boss Hog from Dukes a Hazard going Rod Cushes
Furniture Consignment seventy second and nol Omaha. Thank you remember
that guy?

Speaker 4 (14:49):
I don't really I remember the store there.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Yeah, yeah, I do too. I used to work there
when I was a teenager. It was my first real
where I wasn't working for my at a family business.
My first, my first real job. Rod Cush was my
first boss survived that and I still have some fond
memories now of my time there. Anyway, all praised Rod

(15:18):
Cush's Furniture on Consignment. Well, you go a little further
east of there, and you're on the north side. You're
looking north side of the road like you've got some
car dealerships, and yeah, what year is this? Is Bonson
still there? Sorry? I'm a Ralston kid, so I'm up
and down El Street all the time. Remember Bonnson's. That's
where you go in and get water skis and life

(15:38):
jackets and boat supplies and all the rest of this stuff.
It was his great store.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Wasn't that one D and twentieth.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
No, sorry, I'm mean to yell you.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
No, No, why are you yelling at me?

Speaker 2 (15:53):
No, Lucy, No. Bonson's was there like on the south
side of sixty eighth and l Ish and on the
north side is And even though I've been up and
down that stretch of l Street my entire life, I
couldn't tell you until today the name of any of
the businesses up there. It's just a bunch of industrial

(16:14):
sites that all kind of look the same. There's like
nondescript signs out Frontlet's say, like you know Jr's brick building,
and you're like, I wonder what happens in there? Well?

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Was a food distribution like a yeah, I mean there
was I don't know, grocery store type something that.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Sounds familiar anyway. Now one of them and has been
for a while, I guess Glen Valley Foods. So what
do they make? They make Gary's Quicksteak, which is if
you're Gary Sadlemeyer, he's giggling right now. He's like, yeah,
I know, twelve, it's not that quick twelve. I know. Sorry,

(16:54):
can't help it. Gary's Quicksteak. You ever had that it's
like really great for Philly meat, that kind of thing.
We get Gary's Quick Stak. All right, See now, who's
who's childish? Now?

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I didn't say a word.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
I've had Gary's Quick Steak numerous times. It's delily, it's delicious.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
For Philly sandwiches.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Yeah, it's really good for phillies. It's really good Philly me.
It's quick steak. You throwing the microwave for like forty
four seconds microwave? Sure? Hey, I don't know what kind
of time you have.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
You've never eaten at your house?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yea, as far as my house goes, Hey, nobody, If
it can't go in the microwave, I'm probably not going
to eat it. I like, you know, I want to
be one of these people that has a slow cooker
is really good at barbecue. But how am I supposed
to know fourteen hours from now what I'm hungry for.
Nobody get microwave. So I put the Gary's Quick Steak

(17:51):
in the microwave within forty four seconds, because it's just
easier to hit the four twice than go like forty
five or and I like my stuff on the medium
rare side, so sixty seconds is too long. You're going
to torch it and bang Philly meat. They make that
in there. There's something else that they do in there.

(18:14):
They use everify. He Gary Roher, CEO of Glenn Valley Foods,
tells k E TV News Watch seven. My workers are
one hundred percent everified. President of this food packaging company,

(18:34):
Chad Hartman, also said, we don't know why we were targeted.
We do everything by the book. The plant uses Everify,
the federal database used to check the immigration status of employees.
When he told Ice, we use everify. This is according
to CNN, Chad Hartman, president of Glenn Valley Foods, said

(18:57):
someone with ICE said, yeah, that system's broke. Something else
that's broken, And Chad Hartman says, and this is a
quote to CNN quote, I mean, what am I supposed
to do with that? This is your system run by
the government, and you're rating me because your system is
broken unquote. But there was also something else very interesting

(19:21):
that one of the leaders of Glen Valley Foods said.
It wasn't as protesters are saying, it wasn't a ray
to just go find people who have even a decent tan,
like ah, you look Latino enough to me get in
the van off to l Salvador with you. Gary Rower,

(19:42):
CEO and owner of Glenn Valley Foods, told WWT that
when federal agents came in, they entered the plant with
a list of names, ninety seven names. It wasn't hey,
you here over, Yeah, you look somewhat Mexican, Get in

(20:04):
the van. We'll figure it out later. This wasn't that
at all. This wasn't like, hey, let's just go in
here and see who runs get them. They had a
list of ninety seven people who they were very interested
in talking to. Is that a raid? It's a police operation.

(20:28):
It's a law enforcement operation, but not Omaha police and
not the Douglas County Sheriff's office, which Mayor Ewing is
making very clear. Oh and about that, is there any
coincidence in the timing of what happened yesterday. We'll talk
about that coming up after a Fox News update next.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Scott Voice News Radio eleven ten kfab.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
We love being with you. I don't know if we
mentioned that. I'm always like, hey, thanks a lot for listening,
Thanks a lot for you know why we're so thankful
because we love doing this. I don't particularly love days
like today, though, I understand that there are a lot
of people in the community who are plugged into our
radio station yesterday and today because there's something happening in

(21:18):
our hometown, and this is the radio station that discusses it.
We shoot off our big fat yapps. We accept your
communication with the radio station. Emory Songer weekday afternoons two
to six. He takes the phone calls. I completely ignore
these emails, but I'll try not to. They're piling up,

(21:39):
and there's some really good ones here at scottkfab dot com.
But this is where we come together. We don't use
this slogan a lot on the radio, but there's a
little slogan we have here behind the scenes of the
Gary Sadelmeyer building in beautiful Dundee, USA, the friendly con

(22:00):
finds of News Radio eleven ten KFAB. I'm Scott Vorhees,
by the way, I don't know if I mentioned that,
and she is Lucy Chapman. So our little slogan here
is ha no doy no doy. Now it's more of
a that's a tagline. The slogan is news Radio eleven

(22:21):
ten KFAB is your trusted, well informed friend with whom
you laugh, cry and get through the day together. It
used to be news radio eleven ten kfab is your trusted,
well informed friend you laugh with, cry with, and get
through the day together with. But English teachers said, and

(22:46):
so then we made it more grammatically correct. There's a
little less bulky that way.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
I suppose the crying part checks out.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Sometimes we do. So what category does this fall under?
We had immigration raids, and on top of that, we
also had Look, we have immigration raids in Omaha, around Omaha.
As I started off the program sarcastically but accurately, when

(23:15):
people are like, no Kings, this president's out of control,
I said, I know, look at all these deportations, the
most of any president in history, not this president, but
President Barack Obama. The most removals from this country of
any president in history happened under President Obama. Will that

(23:36):
still be the case when Trump is out of office.
I don't know. During his first term, Trump removed from
our country fewer people than in either of Obama's terms.
That's not true. There weren't protests across the country. Yeah
about that. It is true, And there weren't protest tests

(24:00):
across the country. And this whole idea of there are
kids in cages. Those were pictures taken along our border
during the Obama administration. Shut up, yes they were No,
it was Trump, it was no. They were out there
during the Trump administration, taken during the Obama administration because

(24:21):
they wanted you to think Trump is evil. He's the
bad one, he's the racist one, and all of his followers,
voters and supporters are also bad, evil and racists. Look
what they're doing. They're putting kids in cages, They're putting
good people in buses. So ICE comes to Omaha with
a specific list, not of I don't know. We have

(24:41):
orders to get about one hundred people rounded up. You'll do,
you'll do. They didn't. It was ninety seven names on
a list that they wanted to talk to, and these
individuals were arrested, detained. And the charge here is is
that they use fraudulent documents to gain employment. I believe

(25:07):
the owner CEO of Glenn Valley Foods near sixty eighth
and L Street in omaham and he says, we use everify,
so we weren't looking the other ways. We knew we
were hiring people in the country illegally. We were doing
everything the government needed us to do well. I believe you.

(25:29):
And now the Immigration Enforcement to group is saying, look,
we understand that there is a process that could be
a lot better in this country, but that's not our job.
ICE is the come in, find the individuals we're looking for,
put them in the bus, and let someone else sort
it out. People get all mad at ICE. There were

(25:50):
people yesterday like standing in the way of ICE vehicles.
Someone chucked a rock at I don't know if it
was an ICE vehicle or the bus. It wasn't clear.
I don't know why someone would throw a rock at
the bus of people who are being detained and led
away from this place. But why did this happen yesterday?

(26:17):
I don't know for sure. This is speculation on my part,
but as I like to say, it's not baseless speculation.
I'll tell you it's pretty obvious when it's baseless speculation.
Did I finished my earlier thought from I had to pause,
going what category is this fall under? Didn't kfab is
your trusted, well in formed frint with whom you laugh,

(26:40):
cry and get through the day together. So this operation
in Omaha, what category is that fall under? Well, we're
not laughing, I'm not crying we're getting through the day
together on this one. Because this happened yesterday and the
timing was highly interesting. I'll work backwards into my thought.

(27:04):
The idea was is that we are going to have
protests in this city and the city was going to
be burning, people were going to be rioting and looting,
and President Trump was going to send in the National
Guard and or the Marines just about the same time
that Murray State is coming to town along with seven

(27:27):
other teams to play in the College World Series Downtown Omaha.
And certainly there are people who are like, I don't
know about do we have to do the immigration raid
right before the College World Series which would lead to protests.
I understand that, thinking I don't want riots in my
town ever, and certainly not in the College World Series

(27:49):
is in town. But I mean, let's be honest, when
is the best time to have riots and protests in
downtown Omaha. Is there a better time than the College
World Series? I suppose, But when's a good time. I
don't know of any good time. When it's like, okay, yeah,
all of our guests have left town, we don't have

(28:11):
the shareholders meeting or the CWS, and it's kind of
a rainy weekend. Yeah, go ahead and set downtown on
fire tonight. Yeah, it's fine, we'll clean it up. There's
no good time for that to happen. And if it
does happen, whose fault is it. Is it ICE's fault,
is it Trump's fault, Is it the criminals who were detained,

(28:33):
Is it their fault? Or is it the fault of
the protesters who've decided to go out and riot and loot.
So of course people run easy. We've been watching the
last few days what's been going on in Los Angeles,
and certainly there were people like, here we go, we're
going to see this in Omaha now, because there was
a raid of people who are stealing someone's identity to

(28:55):
obtain work illegally, and they're in the country illegally. And
there are people who say we support immigrants, like illegal immigrants.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Immigrants people, and there's no such thing as an undocumented person,
and we're on stolen land anyway, and let's.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Burn this mother down. I understand where people were thinking that,
and I don't know how many people were thinking that
as like, well, this is going to be ICE's fault.
We're thinking sadly that there are some people in and
around this area or might converge on this area, who
want to burn this area down because why not? And yeah,

(29:38):
there were people uneasy yesterday. I was downtown last night
and I was wondering, how's this going to go? Thankfully
went fine. I think it's really good that the protests
started at thirty second and L Streets because the people

(30:01):
in that community love that community and they know the people.
I mean. I always hate it when I look at
other cities, and the equation I throw out there all
the time is I don't like that that cop shot
that guy, So I'm gonna burn down that gas station.
Like the gas station had nothing to do with it.

(30:22):
But people have no problem doing that because I don't
know that guy that runs that place. I don't care
about him. I don't care about anybody. I'm just looking
for a chance to riot and blow stuff up. Well,
the people in South Omaha who live there, they're not
gonna go burn down that business. That's where I eat
on Mondays, and I'm not gonna burn down that business.

(30:43):
My cousin works there, and we're not going to throw
a rock through the window of that business. That's my
business and We're not going to do even you know,
have a protest blocking people from getting in that business.
They've got the best food on the block. The people
of that community weren't going to hurt their community. It's

(31:03):
their home. So actually, I was really glad when I
saw the protests going on at thirty second ish and
L Streets. They weren't going to touch anything in that community.
That's their community. There's a lot of pride in that community.

(31:24):
Being born and raised in Omaha, not being a resident
of Southeast Omaha, I have a lot of pride in
that community because this is my hometown too. So thank
god we didn't have any agitators that decided to use
the excuse to go out there and cause problems. The

(31:45):
timing of the raid yesterday, though, I don't think it's
a coincidence that it was right after he was elected.
Johnny Ewing got elected the next mayor of Omaha, and
right after he was elected, he did an interview on
a national network and he said Donald Trump doesn't scare me,

(32:12):
or something to that effect. And suddenly on his first
day in office, he was sworn in Monday night. Yesterday
was Mayor John Ewings's first day in office and we've
got an immigration rate and the threat of problems in

(32:34):
protests going on in our community. Do you think that
was coincidence? Why? Omaha, Well, it's because this is where
these people were. There's no place else in the country
that has people with fraudulent workplace IDs working someplace. By

(32:54):
the way, it wasn't just Omaha yesterday. This story has
to do with the the fields of southern California. Farm
fields and packing houses from the central coast of the
San Joaquin Valley saw immigration agents turn up yesterday and
engage in activities. So that's Ventura County, California. We also

(33:19):
had some activity in Texas and other places as well.
It wasn't just Omaha, but Omaha was on a pretty
short list of the immigration activities that were enforced yesterday.
On John Ewing's first day in office, after he said
Donald Trump doesn't scare me. After he spoke out against

(33:44):
ice coming into our community and arresting the guy while
he was working at a brunch restaurant in West Omaha
the other day, and he spoke out against that, and
he spoke out against Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson, who said, yeah,
We work with immigration to assist in any way that
they need in doing immigration rates. We don't particularly we

(34:08):
don't enforce federal immigration law. That's for the Feds. But
when they say, yeah, we're doing some activity in your community,
we need some help with this, we provide the assistance.
I don't think John Ewing was real thrilled about that,
And so on his first day in office, suddenly President
Trump borders are Tom Holman are like, all right, where

(34:29):
are we going next week? Well, on Monday, we're gonna
do this. We got some problems in Los Angeles. We'll
go out to the fields of Ventura County. Oh that
new mayor who doesn't think much of me. When's his
first day in office? Tuesday, June tenth. Good to know

(34:50):
first day. Now, there were a lot of people yesterday
who said something about the previous mayor and her thoughts
about what might be going on. I'll tell you he
was saying what and what I think about it? Next,
Scott at kfab dot com and the Zonker's custom was inbox.
The Geezer sends this email says, I don't know, Scott.
I'm usually with you ninety eight percent of the time,

(35:12):
but I don't think Trump or anybody else is that
concerned with your new liberal mayor. Oh. I wouldn't put
it past President Trump to be like, oh yeah, that
mayor in Omaha says he's not scared of me. Let's
see what he's made of. We got any place in
Omaha we're looking at for an ice rad Yes, take

(35:34):
care of that on his first day in office. I
wouldn't put it past them. Now, there are a lot
of people that said, boy, I bet Mayor Jean Stothard's
glad to be out of office so she didn't have
to deal with all this. I completely disagree. I bet
she was pacing all over the place yesterday saying I

(35:56):
wish I could be involved. We've got people in our
community with a lot of questions, hurting uncertainty, there might
be police activity. This is my community. I wish that
I were still in office, that I could help out
in some way. I bet it was driving her crazy
yesterday that she wasn't in office when all this was
going on in our community. Our new mayor, John Ewing

(36:17):
is holding a news conference about this immigration rate at
one o'clock. You'll hear it here live on eleven ten
KFAB today. I mentioned briefly in the last hour. Yeah,
I went downtown last night and I didn't know how
that was going to go. I felt reasonably sure that
there wouldn't be any problems in Omaha last night, for

(36:40):
the same reason that led to my rant the day
after John Ewing was elected in Omaha, because there were
all these people on social media going, oh, here we go.
We got a liberal mayor in Omaha. And you know
what happens in these cities, these blue dot cities run
by democrats. It just spirals into protests that turn into

(37:04):
violent riots and destruction, and no one's ever going to
get arrested for anything anymore. And I said, all right,
we have a new mayor in town, and the same
people who lived here the last few years who didn't
do that stuff are now going to do that stuff
because there's a Democrat in office. Is that what I'm hearing?

(37:28):
I believe in the people who live here. These are
our friends and neighbors, These are our coworkers. I don't
like to drive amongst you people. You're all terrible, But
you know, when we get together at a restaurant or
the Orphum or the ballpark for a baseball game. I
generally really really like you people, and I don't believe

(37:49):
that my friends and neighbors here in Omaha are the
type that are like, oh, hey, did you hear Yeah
we elected a Democrat. Great, where's my torch. It's the
same people who have lived here. I don't think there's suddenly,
like overnight, gonna determine Yeah, you know what, let's burn

(38:10):
this mother down. So that was my rant the day
after John Ewing was elected. I was thinking the same
thing last night, and as I mentioned in the last hour,
I was really glad that the protests didn't start downtown,
where you're gonna have a lot of people who don't
give a rip about immigrants, illegal immigrants, documented that undocumented this.

(38:35):
They don't care. They're just like, oh, hey, we're downtown
and there's a lot of places to run and hide.
Let's start smashing stuff. We don't know a lot of
these buildings, we don't know these owners. I don't know
what these protesters even care about, but we'll take the
opportunity to cause some problems. I think that that is
more prevalent with a downtown level of thinking at night,

(38:59):
when people drinking and just getting ready for trouble. The
fact that the protest started about thirty second, thirty third
in l streets in the South Omaha community and around
businesses run by people in the South Omaha community and
frequented by people who were out in the streets. As

(39:19):
I said in the last hour, it's like, hey, I'm
gonna go through a rock through that window. You can't
throw a rock through that window. That's where I eat
on Tuesdays. My aunt runs that place. You know, they
weren't going to cause any problems in their own community.
Not that I think that the daytime protesters would cause
any of those problems anywhere in Omaha. I'm not worried

(39:42):
about the daytime protesters in terms of clashing with cops
and setting fires to stuff and you know, getting going
out and shooting people. I'm not worried about the daytime protesters.
I'm worried about the nighttime agitators who don't care about
what the daytime protesters want. So I did when I

(40:04):
was downtown last night, I did think, well, I was
checking my phone, not in an annoying I'm here in
a dark theater at the Orpheum checking my phone and
bothering the people around me way, But I was had,
I was keeping tabs on stuff. I was watching the
wires at my phone on in case someone needed to

(40:25):
vibrate my phone and let me know what was going on.
And I admit I parked in an area of downtown
that was not even close to where I thought anyone
would cause any problems. It was a little bit of
a jaunt to walk over there, but it's a little
off the beaten path, and I felt good about it. So, yeah,
was I pollyannic in my Oh I'm sure it'll be fine. No,

(40:49):
not one hundred percent. But I felt strong enough to
go put myself and my wife in harm's way. So
what were the daytime protesters saying though, Because there were
a lot of people that gathered around thirty second and
L Streets in southeast Omaha yesterday, And the story here

(41:10):
is from k ETV News Watch seven. There's a woman
named Celeste who is described here as a Lincoln resident.
What you're like, Oh, we got a protest just burning
down I eighty And she says, somebody has to say something. Yeah,

(41:32):
I think the people in our community had plenty to say.
But whatever, But she says, I have family living in
this community. Fine, she says, somebody has to say something.
It's scary. And I'm worried from my family and I'm
worried for anybody else who's just not white. This is

(41:56):
my head resting against a really dirty microphone. There was
the singer who the rapper who got the award at
the BET Awards the other night who came out and said,
you know, protesting Trump and her acceptance speech. Dochi is

(42:16):
her name? And she came out and said, well, this
is just what happens. We're talking about Los Angeles. Anytime
we protest, they send the military after us. And I thought,
are there really people in our community who that's what
they honestly believe? Yeah? There are. Here's another one. I'm
worried for my family, and I'm worried for everybody else

(42:37):
who's just not white. All right, again, let's look at
the facts. The CEO and owner of Glenn Valley Foods,
which was subject to the immigration rate yesterday only because
there were a high number of people who work at
that place, and the owner said, we use the verify,
we do everything by the book. Ice told them, yeah, sorry,

(43:01):
that ICE system is broken. There are people working here
that we need to question, and they didn't have They
didn't have a color chart with them. It wasn't like you,
if you are this tan or more tan or latino looking,
then step over here. And if you're in this white area,

(43:26):
you're free to go. Here's some money for your trouble.
Sorry about that. And if you're black, I don't know,
go over here and we'll figure that out later. They
didn't have a color wheel with them. They had a
list of ninety seven names. How do you get on

(43:47):
that list? By working with fraudulent documentation? Someone else's social
Security number, someone else's identity, someone had that identity stolen,
and it can't get cable, you know, or whatever. It's like,

(44:07):
I can't be a co signer on my husband's loan
for our house. Every time I call up to ask
a question, they're like, well, we need to talk to
your husband because I can't be on there because my
identity was stolen. Do you have any idea what it's
like to deal with stuff like that? I bet you do.
I bet a lot of you do. Or you know
someone who's been through something like that, it's infuriating. Well,

(44:31):
there were ninety seven people who have made life that
much more difficult for ninety seven other people. So immigration
showed up here not because these people were not white,
but because they had sketchy social security information. And that's

(44:57):
why we're not ninety seven people. And it says here
that they are about seventy five or eighty people who
were detained. So they didn't even detain all the people
that they were looking for. Maybe they couldn't find every
single person on this list. Maybe they don't all work
on Tuesday mornings. So I can tell you that it

(45:18):
was a list of people, not a color spectrum to
your point where you say it's scary, and I'm worried
for my family, and I'm worried for everybody else who's
just not white. And then we had this fantastic submission again.
The story here from k e TV News Watch seven.
They also talked to someone named Michelle, because it says

(45:41):
several of the protesters were Native Americans like Michelle, and
she said, quote, nobody's illegal on stolen land. Native Americans
have been through this type of crisis before in history,
and we know what the outcome is. They're going to
separate families and children unquote. Great. I presume there are

(46:02):
no locks on your doors? What are we protesting here?
And by the way, if if I'm there protesting something
that's happening to people of my ethnicity, this is the
part where the translucent white Scott Vorhees tries to put
himself in the shoes of an Hispanic person or black person.

(46:26):
That always goes over, Well, let's forge ahead. If I'm
down there protesting that I think people in my Hispanic
community are being targeted, and then someone else from another
ethnicity comes up and like, yeah, we know, Like this
isn't for you, This isn't for you to come out
here with your own gripes and problem. This is for us.

(46:47):
Get out of here. That's how I think I'm I
guess I'm rather jingoistic that way. But you know, nobody's
illegal on stolen land. It's illegal. If you steal someone's identity,
that's illegal on land, and on stolen land, all land

(47:13):
is stolen and illegal activity is illegal activity. And if
you think, well, hey, it's all just you know, one love,
then no locks on your doors? Are there any doors
on your home? Why don't you start letting people into
your house? Anyone, as many people as we can fit
in here and then when we reach capacity, just keep

(47:35):
letting them in, or you have to pay to have
an addition to your house to keep letting people in
your house and they use all of your resources and
you're paying for all of it. And then come back
to me and let me know how you feel about that.
Or try and go to some other country, pick one,

(47:55):
any other country and say, I just came in here illegally,
where's my free stuff? Where are you gonna put me up?
And see how that goes? Let me know, report back.
Nobody's illegal on stolen land. You're stealing the Hispanic people
of South Omahaws gripe, that's what you're doing. That's cultural appropriation.

(48:21):
Michelle Scott bhees where you're going. News Radio eleven ten
kfab Mayor John Ewing his second full day on the
job as a news I don't mean to laugh about that,
just like, really wow. He's got a news conference scheduled
for one o'clock today with Chief Todchmater and Douglas County

(48:43):
board Member Roger Garcia, who I had probably a bit
too much fun with laughing at him during the last
hour of the program. If you missed it, it sounded
something like this. Roger Garcia goes running out of a
board meeting and starts doing a Facebook live, you know,
a panting, total drama queen, like they're raiding businesses, they're

(49:06):
separating families, and I've got to be there for people
in my community, you know. And then he went to
the wrong place. He went to the place they thought
he thought they were raiding. It was just marked them.
I bet that place doesn't have a lot of people

(49:26):
at work today.

Speaker 5 (49:28):
What I don't understand about that real quick is if
he knew that this was going on, how did he
find out without a location given? I mean, who called
him and said there's raids going on in what he
dropped the phone before they finished the sentence.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
Mean what, well, we knew the rough area because when
Immigration and Customs Enforcement does an operation like this, they
will ask local law enforcement to do things like traffic
control to keep out sure protesters and agitators who want
to run in there and stop them from doing their jobs.
So in the general vicinity in around seventy second and L,

(50:05):
there were some traffic issues they're already or traffic issues
around seventy second and L, but there were cops out
there kind of station. At the end of the show yesterday,
I got a couple of emails from people going, do
you have any idea what's going on around like seventy
sixty eighth in L Street, And we didn't at that time,
So I just kept talking about whatever stupid thing I

(50:26):
was talking about yesterday, And then after eleven o'clock we
learned more and Emory was talking about it all afternoon.
But so they just kind of knew a general area
and someone in the community is like, the ice has
gone in there and they're raiding businesses, and so he
went to the place he figured it was happening, and

(50:47):
it wasn't that place. So I'm sure the owners of
that place are like, why did you think that there
are a bunch of illegal immigrants working in here? Thanks?
Thanks Roger, Thanks Big Rog Big Headache for that company.
They also released a statement and said, we don't know

(51:08):
why people thought that that our place was being targeted. Yeah,
ask Rog, But you know, mister, this is my community.
These are my people. Who is your community illegal immigrants?
Because they're going after illegal immigrants. Are you saying we
need to have illegal immigrants in our community? Kind of

(51:31):
sounds like that's what some of these protesters are saying.
But you know what this whole idea of I'm worried
for immigrants in my country, legal immigrants who might not
understand the language quite yet. They're here legally, they're on
student visas or whatever, and maybe they don't speak real

(51:53):
strong English and they're going to be detained and all that.
You know, you know who doesn't want criminal illegal immigrants
in our country? Them legal immigrants. They said, you have
no idea what's going on in that country. We fled.
They're terrible people. So we wanted to come here to America.
We wanted to work, and we want to work in
places where we're not working terrible people, and we want

(52:15):
to have the opportunity to work legally and not have
our jobs stolen by people who are here illegally using
fraudulent documentation. Legal immigrants feel that way. So when you're saying,
like I'm here from my community, your community is working,
your community should be legal immigrants in this country, not illegal.

(52:40):
And as far as the separation of families, email from
Scott said to Scott at kfab dot com in the
Zonker's custom woods in box, as I get tired of
hearing about separating children from their parents. If I break
the law, what do the police do. They arrest me
and they put me in jail, which is separating me
from my family. You come into the country illegally when

(53:02):
you get arrested, yet you're going to be separated from
your family momentarily. If someone ends up being deported, the
family can go with him. This is going to be
a real test of some people's relationships. If if your
breadwinner is in the country illegally and he gets deported

(53:26):
and he's, you know, with you, and you've got kids,
and you say, yeah, we've been together, We've got kids together,
but I'm not going to Guatemala, so shoot, damn shame
about Jorge and they don't go with you. That shows
you your marriage isn't as strong as you thought.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
Scott goes Today.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Mayor John Ewing in comments that we will bring to
you live here just after one o'clock on Nebraska's News,
weather and Traffic station. Mayor John ey Wing will hold
his first news conference as mayor. On the first day
on the job. Here comes ice rating a packing plant

(54:14):
here in Omaha, detaining about eighty people and causing protests
to erupt in southeast Omaha, and everyone's looking at the
new mayor, gone, what are you going to do about it?
He's like, I barely know where my office is. We
talked earlier. Do you think that President Trump chose this

(54:34):
first day of John Ewing's administration to do this? I
wouldn't put it past him. Ewing the day after he
got elected, said I'm not scared to Donald Trump, you
know that kind of thing, and then spoke out against
immigration arresting one guy in our town the other day,
and Johnny Wing has something to say about that. Trump's like,

(54:56):
all right, who's this guy? Well, he's the new mayor
of Omaha. Has he already started now? His first day is?
His first full day is Tuesday June tenth. Tuesday June tenth.
We got any any ice officials who can conduct a ray?
Do we got any spot in Omaha on our list?

Speaker 3 (55:16):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (55:16):
Yeah, okay, Tuesday June tenth. I wouldn't put it past
President Trump.

Speaker 5 (55:25):
Let's get an awful close to a conspiracy theory from you.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
Sounds like Lucy has a conspiracy theory.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
Your conspiracy theory is that I have a conspiracy theory.

Speaker 4 (55:37):
I think it is.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
Yeah, I don't think it's a conspiracy. I think it's
one of President Trump's worst and most entertaining qualities, and
that is his petulance.

Speaker 4 (55:50):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
Again, I say this just being a bare wire of honesty.

Speaker 1 (55:58):
Here.

Speaker 2 (55:59):
One a President Trump's worst and most entertaining qualities is
how petty he can be.

Speaker 5 (56:07):
I don't think that he is any more or less
petty than any other president we've ever had.

Speaker 4 (56:11):
He just doesn't hide.

Speaker 2 (56:13):
It, which is certainly a point in his favor. You
never have to wonder. I wonder what President Trump thinks
about this, you know, I wish he'd wish he'd be
more honest with us, more transparent about all this. Oh
wait here it is on truth, social and all caps.
Now I know what he thinks about everything. Anyway, first

(56:38):
day in office, and Mayor John ey Wing has this
to deal with. His news conference will be at one
o'clock today. We will bring that to you live here
on news radio eleven kfab. Among those in the news
conference is Omaha Police Chief Tadh Schmader. Now, the city
officials go out of their way whenever something like this happens.
They're like, hey, we don't the city of Omaha. The

(56:59):
cops if we pull you over, if we want to,
if you're a victim of a crime, We're not going
to be asking for your immigration status. That's not our job.
We're not federal officials. This is a federal job. Ryan
emails Scott at kfab dot com and says the cop
out no pun. I don't believe you. I think you

(57:19):
did intend that pun. The cop out a police chief schmater.
To say immigration is a federal problem only and can't
help locally is ridiculous and I'm not buying it, says Ryan,
who goes on to say police should verify everyone's status
when they pull someone over. They run criminal checks on everyone,

(57:42):
and illegal is a criminal. They broke the law. If
I break federal law and I'm in the system, will
they let me go? Technically, illegal immigration is more of
a misdemeanor documentation issue unless you then break other laws
and then they start pouring on the illegal immigrant component

(58:02):
as gravy. And this president has got lots of gravy
for something like this. So why were these the list
of ninety seven specific people. I can't say this enough.
Why were these ninety seven specific people targeted? Because, according

(58:25):
to an ICE spokesperson, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and
federal law enforcement partners executed a federal search warrant at
Glen Valley Foods about sixty eighth in El Street, based
on an ongoing criminal investigation into the large scale employment
of aliens without authorization to work in the United States.

(58:47):
The work site enforcement operation is likely the largest to
take place in Nebraska since the start of the current
presidential administration, which has prioritized immigration enforcement efforts and strengthened
focus on border security. The investigation is ongoing. More information
will be forthcoming as available. Reports of any other ICE

(59:10):
operation and or attempted operations in the Omaha area is
simply disinformation being used to confuse the American public. Unquote.
It's the statement from ICE about what happened at one
place in Omaha where they were looking for a list
of ninety seven people, not a color wheel. If you

(59:31):
are this tan or worse, you will be detained. They
didn't do that. Ninety seven lists a nice seven people
on a list for persons believed to be using fraudulent
documents to gain employment taking social Security numbers. I've heard
from several people, and let's see if I can find
one here in the Zonker's customs in box. Yeah, here's one.

(59:56):
First of all, says e Verify as the biggest joke.
I have had dozen of non immigrant employees who I
later found out about their criminal record. Well that's maybe
more on that in a second. But he says it's
being said that the ice ray yesterday was about stolen
ID concerns. I do not think, says this emailer to

(01:00:17):
Scott atkfab dot com. I do not think it's a
coincidence that when Doge investigated the millions of active Social
Security accounts for people aged one hundred and twenty and
older years that maybe they should meet these people. Do
you hear what he's saying? Doge Elon Musk came out

(01:00:39):
and said, look at all the people who have active
Social Security numbers and we're paying them. We're paying them
social Security payoffs. It's amazing. Some of these people are
well over one hundred and ten years old. Some of
them are over one hundred and twenty, some are over
one hundred and thirty. This guy's two hundred and forty
years old. We should talk to this guy. Well, maybe
yesterday they did and they found him not to be

(01:01:01):
a two hundred and forty year old woman. They found
him to be a twenty four year old illegal immigrant
who stole someone's identity and not only gained employment, but
maybe he is getting a Social Security check. Now, if
you gained employment with someone stolen identity who's still alive,
that's potentially ninety seven people who can't get a credit

(01:01:26):
card have a hard time booking a flight because their
identity has been stolen. I want those people dealt with,
and I think if people are being honest, everyone wants
those people dealt with. Now this I can't say this enough.

(01:01:48):
I don't want to demean or cast dispersions on the
people at Glen Valley Foods. They've said over and over again,
we've been doing everything the right way. I heard from
another business owner who said, oh yeah, Everify is terrible.
We stopped using it. And this is not in Nebraska,
where well, I think public but those who have public

(01:02:13):
contracts have to use Everify. There was a bill in
the legislature this past year that says, if you're a
private employer, you have to use e Verify, and that
was shot down. But I'll tell you what this employer
says about because I said, what do you mean? It's terrible,
and I'll tell you his response as we wrap up
the show.

Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
Next, Scott Boyes.

Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
Harold email Scott at kfab dot com and says, Scott,
you are sounding like a COMI lib today. Harold. Try.
I guess you're hearing the show. You heard my email
address and email me. Try listening. I don't know what
you're talking about, but if you're trying to bring dumbass

(01:02:52):
into this program, I usually handle that quite fine myself.
I don't need you to come in into that territory.
Pull your head out, all right. I heard from a
business owner says e Verify is terrible. I said, what
do you mean? He says, it would try to sync
with other employee data programs we use that would create errors.
Each location has its own login, employees change locations and

(01:03:15):
new forumus needed to fill out, and then it would
tell us you have duplicate files, like yeah, you told
us we had to have these. Then we get errors
and it was difficult getting them corrected, and so on
and so forth. So when the owners of this place
say we used Everify, why are we being targeted? And
then the ice guy told him, Hey, that system's broken.

(01:03:35):
I'm let's do the raids, let's fix the system, and

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
