less points and rebounds and assists, NBA, NFL, make a
lineup and get down with Prize Picks, all right.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
It's so much fun.

Come on, all right, man, it's the end of the

(01:05):
year and you know, every year, like I like kind
of try to put my own top ten albums of
the Year list out.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Shout out to beat Out. He does it every year.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Everyone looks forward to it, and then I kind of
put mine out, and I wanted to just take a
moment because like we want to start doing more these
YouTube videos. We're just kind of talking about what's going
on news, et cetera. But I wanted to break down
my top ten hip hop albums of the year, and
this was probably, in my opinion, like twenty twenty five
was probably the best year for hip hop in terms

(01:35):
of just like you know, totality of just quality projects,
like in a long time. I kind of feel like
twenty twenty was up there too, but twenty twenty five, man,
it was really tough to kind of like point it
down to ten albums. So we do have honorable mentions,
and I left the Cardi B album off the honorable mentions,

(01:58):
which that fire.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
There's a lot of albums are fire.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
But let's go through some of these honorable mentions before
we do the top ten hip hop albums of the year.
Evidence un Learning Volume two. Shout out to ev Man
EV's on a Run Right now I'm super excited to
see what he's gonna do in twenty twenty six. But
La Legend, you know, a third of Dilated People's an
incredible solo artist had an incredible body of work this year.

(02:24):
Ben Riley, who in my opinion, is one of the
future go to the rap game. Him, Chris Patrick, Marco
plus samar Sin, they're kind of leading like the new
wave of what is going on. In his album he dropped.
This year's save was incredible. Shouts to Atlanta the new
Earl Sweatshirt album. This is like super high on a

(02:48):
lot of people's lists. Liv Laugh Love definitely needs to
be mentioned. This is an album that was tricky because
I didn't include it in the top ten list because
it's like a country fusion album. But I just want
to give some love to the Big X the plug
I hope your Happy album. It's like him rapping and
it's all country hooks. But dude, it is like perfectly done,

(03:11):
Like it's not corny. The songwriter's incredible. It flows perfectly.
It's concise, Big X delivered. You know, when you do
think about like a hip hop country album from somebody
who doesn't sing, you'd be like, I don't know, this
shit might suck.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Not Big X delivered that album is crazy. I hope
you're happy.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Mob Deep Infinite another album that could have just was
right there. Man.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
You know, I'm such a big Mob Deep fan.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
And the fact that Havoc and Alchemists were able to
put together this album and it's just sounds so seamless,
like prodig you're still here with us, Like certain parts
of the album, like I kind of got emotional listen
to it because it really just felt like a new
Mob Deep album.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
And they delivered.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Man uh shot to Mass Appeal for everything they did
this year too. I think we definitely got to show
love Mass Appeal this year. We got to Slick Rick album,
we got a Noaz and DJ premiere album, we got
a day Lost Soul album, we got Big L, we
got ghost Face, we got Ray Kwan, we got Mob Deep.
So Mass Appeal, thank you for just delivering on a

(04:21):
fucking awesome twenty twenty five and just helping keep like
that real rap shit alive. I want to give a
shout out to key Clock because that Glackavelli came out
early this year. That shit was fire. I mean key Glock,
I was. You know, Rick Ross kind of is known
to have like just the crazy ear for beats. I

(04:44):
always say he's got one of the best ears for
production ever made. Key Glock is on his head. Man
Keey Glock know how to pick some bangers. Man shout
to Key Clock that Glockavelli was crazy. I don't think
enough people talked about how good the Whis Khalifa album was,
either Cushion Orangs two. That Kushion o'js man was incredible.
It's probably my favorite Whiz album. He's had mixtapes and

(05:06):
stuff that I loved, but in terms of like an
official Whiz album, this is my favorite Whiz album since
Rolling Papers.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Loved it.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
And also I want to give a shout out to
my woite Caski, who had an album that was called
Black Sheep five that you know, for whatever reason, Caski
doesn't get a lot of respect. I don't know if
he's a white boy or I don't know, but Caski
delivered an incredible album this year, Black Sheep five, the
fifth volume of.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
His Black Sheep series.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
There's bars on there, there's crazy production on there, crazy
song concepts on there. He used to be signed with
Cash money for a reason because he's incredible. So shout
out to CASKI. But let's get to it, man, the
top ten albums of the year. We're gonna start with
number ten. I want to give a shout out to
our brother, good friend of the show recently got credit
for some of the songs that made this album. In

(06:02):
an interview, he did Conway the Machine Man, let's talk
about it. Conway the Machine number ten, You Can't Kuild
God with Bullets. Shout out to Conway. This was personally
my favorite Conway album since twenty twenty, since from a

(06:26):
King to a God. So Conway's had moments that I
love and albums that I've loved since then. But to me,
this album delivered. It's crazy because it came at the
end of the year, so it's like it came that
same day we got Nasen Primo and twenty one Savage
and Chris Patrick's album. By the way, Chris Patrick's album
definitely deserves to be mentioned from top end of the year.

(06:48):
But Conway, Man, this album is incredible. It shows us
why we love them, like Conway the Machine number ten,
You Can't Kill God with Bullets. Keeping that drum work
flag flying and delivering to the fans. Man shouts to Conway.
So number nine, let's move on this one again could

(07:11):
have been higher, but I feel like this whole list
kind of can just be interchangeable. But we got to
give some love to walle Man Wala. Everything is a
lot in terms of just like listening experience. Like I
told Walle this in San Diego last week. I was like, Bro,
you have like a whole album of singles, Like this
whole damn album is singles and vibes. It's vulnerable, the

(07:33):
features are incredible, and there's just joints on here man,
Like it's a whole album of joints. And then you
got like a song like the song he has with
Shaboozie that's like different the Michael Corleone record, which is different,
but just joints on joints. This might be the best
walle album and if it's not, its second place my

(07:53):
favorite ambition A shout out to wale Man numb nine.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Let's keep it moving. Number eight, Dave.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I don't know what it is about us in the States,
but we can never give the bruhs from the UK
enough flowers, or any flowers for that matter, Dave is
probably one of the greatest rappers in the last decade,
and he's the most vulnerable artist alive in my opinion,
and he delivered. Man. You know, when he dropped the

(08:23):
EP with Central C two years ago, I had that
up there for the year. It was only four songs,
but that was more him being braggadosis and talking that shit,
going back and forth with See, this is the Dave
that I love. All Right, So Dave number eight, the
boy who played the hart Man, let's start putting some
fucking respect on the UK and their MC's let's keep
it moving. Number seven, let's talk about Ravaon. Man, he's

(08:47):
gonna be super mad. He's number seven, by the way,
ran into him and can't flog down. We had an argument,
but the good, the bad, the dollar menu Ravon I
talked about Dave being vulnerable. Rayvaughn is special man, and
to me this was like the first time we've seen
Ravon freestyles. We've seen like even before he signed with TDE,

(09:11):
he would have these like crazy vulnerable, like barring out
in his front seat of the car freestyles that would
go viral. And he's been with TD for a long
time and he's dropped music with TDE. But I do
feel like finally this body of work illustrated and displayed
what I know about ray and that's that he is

(09:33):
like a one of one and he's you know, Rayvaon
has music that will like literally make me cry. There's
a song on this album called Shasta. I think it's
called Shasta, and it's speaking about his mom's battle with alcoholism,
and fuck man it is. It is deep, dude, and

(09:53):
another album that could have been higher. I just don't
understand how people are making these albums of the Year list.
They're not recognizing what Rayvon's doing. The good, the bad,
the dollar menu. There's vulnerable shit on there, there's slaps
on there. Rayvon will be a future just household name
in this rap shit TDE for the usual. They're just

(10:14):
batt in a thousand man. So shouts to ravon number seven.
Moving on number six, j I D. God does like ugly.
J I D is kind of quickly like carving his
way into like whatever Tier is like right below when

(10:35):
we talk about j Cole or Kendrick or used to
talk about Drake, Sorry, I feel like j I D
is like getting like he's he's kind of like him,
you know, uh, guys like Freddie, guys like Big Sean,
they're just in that space right beneath that tier that

(10:56):
we kind of consider like the Mount rushmore of like
this era. But Jid is kind of like he's really
just missing, like a real, real single off of this album,
Like Skate was cool with Sierra, but I think like
Community with the clips that Bob the builderline, the intro
with Westside Gun talking that shit Like Jid is one

(11:20):
of the greatest rappers alive and this body of work
is incredible. I think it's his second best album. Finding
Forever for me will always be just goaded. But shout
out to Jid for delivering an incredible body work and
delivering an incredible tour and just continuing to be like
a one of one.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
In the game. Man. So number six Gid, moving on,
let's DWAYE. I have the album right here. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
I bought this with my own money. Chance wouldn't give
it to me, so cash Aptain twenty bucks?

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Was it twenty Chance? The rapper?

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Number five star Line should have been nominated for a Grammy.
I gotta say this about Chance, man, I loved Acid Rap.
I loved the Ten Day Mixtape.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
I did not.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Love Coloring Book as much as the rest of the world.
Not to say that it wasn't bad, Like it wasn't good,
it was incredible. People loved it. This would kind of
cross them over. And what's crazy is the album they
came out with after that that was about getting married.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
I actually kind of liked. But this album.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
If you think about like kind of like Chance as
somebody who was like positioned to be like the next goat,
the next face of hip hop, it was Chance and
for whatever reason, he puts this album out about being

(12:51):
married and.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
How excited he is.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
The Big Day album is what it was called, I Apologize,
and it's like people didn't like it, and so like
it just felt like hip hop kind of turned their
back on Chance in this like weird way. He also
was like super overexposed. He was doing a lot of
Shape We Show some a bunch of TV shows, He
was in commercials. But like, the bottom line is Chance

(13:15):
is like a generationally talented artist and to see him
deliver this album, which in my opinion, the subject matter
of this album is super important for the times we're
living in, you know, speaking out against ice you know,

(13:36):
even like the ship he's talking about with like the
weed industry and you know black people being boxed out
of that industry. I mean, Ride would do or Die.
There's so much on this album that is just crazy.
My favorite was Letters. Letters was like a bunch of

(13:58):
different perspectives where he's like kind of speaking from the
perspective of preachers and it's it's kind of like a
He told me that he had to kind of clear
it with his pastor before he released it, but man,
go listen to that. But the Chance album, it's spectacular.

(14:20):
It could have been higher, but we only got you know,
we only got a top five now, So let's move
on Chance to wrap your number five what deserved now.
Daylas Soul Cabin in the Sky this was my favorite
album out of all of the Mass Appeal releases this year.

(14:40):
I want to give a shout out to day Law because, man,
this you want to talk about an emotional journey, This album,
which was very much dedicated to you know, Dave who
passed away. Man, it's just masterfully done, insane features. Obviously,

(15:05):
NAS has been on every single Mass Appeal released this year,
but I feel like for day Las Soul to come
out in twenty twenty five and deliver such an incredible
body of work. It's just impressive. Man, the secret, seeing
the skits, everything just it's just such a seamless, amazing,

(15:26):
damn near perfect hip hop album. And day La soul
Man putting another point on the board for the Ogs
in twenty twenty five. Salute to day La and shout
out to Mass Appeal again for giving us an amazing
run of legendary hip hop artist drops this year. Dayla
though Man number four, shout out to day La. So
go watch our interview too. We talked a lot about

(15:47):
the album Cabin in the Sky number four. Number three
could have.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Been number two or one.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Listen Larry June, Two Chains, Alchemist. Look, this album dropped
in February. I think I still listen to this album.
Damn near every day life is fucking beautiful. I mean,
Larry June and two Chains, it's almost like they were

(16:15):
made for each other. Like I know that sounds hella crazy,
but like musically, like when you hear these two guys
just going back and forth in the most effortless flyway
over Alchemists production, it is it is. It's like, why
didn't we get this sooner, and I just hope that,
like this isn't the final time these guys do an

(16:37):
album together.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Please do Life is Beautiful?

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Two? Do Life is Beautiful three? Just we need two
chains Larry, June and al to make music together forever.
And I got to see them live at Camp flognaw
do a lot of these songs live and it was
fucking awesome. Shout out to both of these guys, they're
both legends, and shout out to the Alchemist. And with

(16:59):
that being said, number two album of the year, The Alchemist,
Freddy Gibbs Alfredo two. That's right, this was I'm not
gonna lie, man, it was close for me to make
this the number one album of the year, and a lot
of people will always be like, well, Freddy's your boy,
Like yeah, but it just is what it is. This
is to me a classic album. I think it rivals

(17:23):
Alfredo one. I actually think I know this sounds crazy.
I think I take Alfredo two over Alfredo one, which
I thought was the album of the year in twenty twenty.
Freddy Gibbs is, you know, for my money, one of
the greatest rappers of all time. I think if you

(17:44):
wanted to be like super honest with that conversation, catalog,
body of work, body to work, skill set, all that.
He's a top ten guy ever. Alchemist. If you want
to talk about the MVP of twenty twenty five in
hip hop, it's Alchemist. I mean, Jesus, the amount of work,
quality work this got put out this year just incredible. Man,

(18:08):
it was worth the way we had to wait five years.
The last one got Grammy nominated, this one got snubbed.
Shout out to Freddy, Shout out to Al. It's a
lot of one of my favorite songs of the year. Man,
Skinny Shook two. Freddy, I mean, Freddy goes crazy all
over this fucking project. And again, Freddy and Al together,
please don't stop making music together. We need Alfredo three.

(18:31):
And that was also one of the coolest tour moments
of the year. I got to go see the Alfredo
two tour two nights in a row Man and it
was it was incredible. So shout out to Freddy, shout
and the rollout, oh yeah, the rollout was crazy.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
They did a whole movie. Jesus, Yeah, the movie was crazy.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
They went to Tokyo and they filmed all kinds of
shit and like again, shout out to Lambeau because Lambo
Freddy's manager, he builds this Alfredo universe. So they got
these crazy they got the comic books, they got the
merch but the rollout was wild. But no one's rollout
was fucking with number one. I am talking about the

(19:08):
most obvious choice for the number one album of the year,
and I know everyone's picking Clips. Let God sort them out,
but it is what it is. Everyone's just being super honest.
Got to give a shout out to the Clips for
anybody who knows. I've had this on the wall for
a long time. I've screamed at Jim Jones about push

(19:29):
a T. I am a Clips head and I've been
wanting a new Clips album. It's been since nine, I
think since still the casket drops dropped and like you
kind of are like, okay, push a T since two
thousand and nine has had this crazy solo run with
good music, and he's had his own classics like Daytona. Uh,

(19:56):
but like what happens when they come back together, like
what is this gonna sound like? Know? And man, it
kind of like breathed new breadth into me as a
hip hop fan. It made me feel so good about
rap this year because I have been like, man, some
of this shit that's cracking out here is it's just

(20:17):
like it can drain you if you're like, you know,
an old head like me. So when you have Clips
come out and not only put out an album that,
in my opinion is their best album, and that is
a crazy thing to say because they also have this album.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
S right, so one of the greatest albums of all time.
Hell hath No Fury?

Speaker 1 (20:43):
I think that let God's Soarn Them out is better
And I think Pharrell is in his fucking bag on
this album. He is definitely like the third member of
the Clips on this project, which he's always been. Malice
is rapping like the I mean, can you imagine coming back.

(21:04):
I think Malice is fifty two you've been kind of
I mean he put out too no Malice projects you
know that were dope. But for Malice to kind of
like come back into the game as one half of
the Clips do every These guys did every interview, including us,
so shout out to them. They didn't run from the music,

(21:26):
and they would always say that we want to do
all of the press because we're not running from our
music right, Like a lot of artists don't want to
do a bunch of press because they don't want they
get uncomfortable and they' asked certain questions about shit. They
were like, we are not running from the music. We
want to face it. They did all the right media.
The merch drops were fucking insane. I don't know if

(21:47):
you guys knew how. I probably spent twenty five hundred
to three thousand dollars on clips merged this year, which
is a lot.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
With that being.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Said, back to the album. The album itself, Man, you
want to talk about probably the best hook of the
year Fiico like that fight Oh hook is crazy Malice's
verse on their screen. I mean Malice probably has three
Verse of the Year contenders on here. The Birds Don't
Sing nominated for a Grammy, one of the most beautiful
songs ever, and the album kicks off with the.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Birds Don't Sing. That's fucking crazy.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
It's such an introspective, sad song, but it's a beautiful song.
It's about them rapping to their parents, you know, like
each each one of them rapping a verse for their
mom and their dad. And you know, we got POV
with the Tyler, the Tyler versus fucking crazy. I just

(22:41):
feel like the Clips owned hip hop in twenty twenty five,
And if that's the case, hip hop is in a
good place. Man. You know, If the best music to
come out of twenty twenty five was like The Clips
moving over one hundred thousand units in the first week
and selling out their whole tour and getting nominated for

(23:04):
Best Rap Album of the Year and Best Album of
the Year, overall, we're in a good place. So like
in twenty twenty five, we have had to deal with
the narrative of a lot of people saying hip hop's
dying because of this billboard bullshit. Fuck the Billboard charts, bro.
Hip hop started underground. Hip hop started in the streets. Bro,
Like this shit ain't about streaming numbers. Fuck all that shit,

(23:26):
you know what I'm saying. And so for me, the
crowning jewel of twenty twenty five, as we're at the
end of it, and two brothers, one of them's in
their fifties, I think Pushing T's knocking on fifty are
the biggest story of the year. I mean, and it's
because they put out just a quality, classic body of

(23:49):
work and everything they did the attention to detail, everything
was on purpose, everything was with intent. They performed at
the Vatican, like the Clips performed at the Vatican this year.
That's insane, the first rappers to ever do that. So
it's like, if that's where we are as a culture,
where like the Clips are being embraced right a year

(24:11):
after we get out of this crazy beef in which
like Kendrick Lamar becomes the biggest shit ever in shout
to Kendrick who had that dopest tour, I mean, the
biggest tour of the year. You know, I think we're
in a good place in twenty twenty five. So shouts
of the Clips album of the year. Let God sort
them out front to back, no skips, there's this is
a perfect album. It's a classic and they deserve all

(24:34):
the praise and they got me feeling good. I want
to say a couple of things about twenty twenty five.
I want to give some props to Meek Mills verse
on Proud of Me on the Friday album. That's one
of my favorite verses of the year. I also want
to give props to play with Cardi because Playboo Carti's
album had some shit on there. I really enjoyed, and
I'm an old head, but the Cardi album there was

(24:54):
like four or five joints on there that just just
work out fuel. So shouts to Carti. The NBA Young
Boy Tour. I went to the NBA Young Boy Tour,
and as in terms of as an experience, I'm pretty
much went to all the tours this year, but in
terms of like just an overall experience of me like
being like, oh shit, this is this is crazy. I'm

(25:16):
glad I came to this. It feels like history. The
NBA Young Boy Tour was that for me this year.
Obviously the Kendricks says the tour was crazy, but to me,
the NBA Young Boy Tour was its own.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
I was like, oh my god, like.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
This guy is he's fucking a rock star like he
is and I've always known that, but like it's crazy.
You had like if you didn't go, it's it's wild.
So shout out to Young Boy. Also want to give
a shout out. A lot of music came out this year,
non hip hop. My favorite album besides Clips this year
overall was The Weekend that wee can hurry up tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Crazy, Oh my god, So.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Shout out to the Weekend. Shouts to everybody. I'm expecting
some dope music in twenty twenty six. I'm looking forward
to another samar Sin album because she I think just
dropped an EP this year. I'm looking forward to Jake Cole.
I feel like it's cold season right now. I'm looking
forward to Kendrick dipping his toe back in the water,

(26:20):
which should be dope. I think we're gonna get another
Rayvaughan album this year. I think we're gonna get some
new Freddy in twenty twenty six. I would put some
money on that. There's a Big X to Plug six
hundred E n T compilation album coming out now. The

(26:41):
first time they did this album was called Meet the
six Ers. It went platinum or gold. The album I
don't want to give away too much, but I did
help some shake on this album and it's gonna be
fucking raw. So shout out to Rosama, shout out to
Young Hood, shout to Big X six one hundred E
n T Sixers album. The new one is gonna be

(27:05):
super sick. I'm curious to see what happens this year
with like just kind of like a guy, like what's
big Shawn's here gonna look like, you know, like I
want to see what Big Sean does in twenty twenty six.
Definitely want to see what Cold does. I also am like,
what's gonna happen with Does Alchemist take a break this year?

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I don't know. Does he drop some new shit with Boldie.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
We keep hearing that there's a currency Larry June Alchemist
album that is confirmed through currency? Actually does that come
out this year? I don't know anything.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Else this year.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Cook that we're looking forward to that you think might
be dope?

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Oh that is true. Yeah, that is true, Tyler Doka.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Yeah, Yeah, it's funny because I put my initial list together.
So look because I was like drop, I had a
road trip going, and I was like, yo, I just
started naming albums. And it's funny because Tyler the creator
don't tap the glass I had in my top ten,
but I was like, it's not really a hip hop album,

(28:19):
it's more like an alternative. But the moment and seeing
don't tap the glass. I can't flog now. And that's
another thing. Camp flog Naw was crazy. I think Tyler
cemented himself because the chromo I went to the Chromocopia
tour this year, which was crazy, and then Don't Tap
