Speaker 3 (00:21):
But you got another wet and foggy start to the day.
We're looking at rain and gusty wins through the afternoon
and maybe into the early evening today as well. It's
rain at the area needs though, so even though it's
going to put a damper on the day, it is
kind of a good thing. We'll hit our high temperature
around noon. Then temps are going to start dropping rapidly.
We could drop twenty degrees between your lunch break and
rush hour today. So if you're going outside and you're like,
I don't need a winter jacket, you might need one
(00:43):
for later times. Will get close to freezing overnight, so
please be careful tomorrow morning. All this rain today could
lead to some slippery conditions in the morning tomorrow. If
things do start to freeze overnight. The high temperature Tomorrow
is set to be around forty one degrees, so big
difference between the two days. Governor Wes Moore, Baltimore, Mayor
Brandon Scott, and Oriol's owner David Rubinstein will be a
Camdon Yards today to announced the Preakness Festival. One hundred
(01:05):
and fifty initiative representatives from the Sport and Entertainment Corporation
of Maryland and the Maryland Thoroughbred Racetrack Operating Authority will
also be on hand along with local stakeholder holders for
the announcement that's scheduled for two this afternoon. I'm kind
of curious to see what this is all about and
see what they have plans. I'll be looking forward to
seeing that announcement today. And the suspect of the United
Healthcare CEO murder is fighting his extradition from Pennsylvania to
(01:27):
New York. Luigi Maggioni appeared in a Pennsylvania court from
yesterday where he challenged the extradition. He was ordered to
remain held without bail and now Pennsylvania has thirty days
to get a warrant from New York's governor. The former
Gilman School that valedatorian is accused of fatally shooting United
Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in front of his Manhattan hotel
last week.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
That chooe up date.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
All right, coming up on your brief, Bethany, what's on
your mind?
Speaker 5 (01:48):
Boy?
Speaker 6 (01:49):
I have some I have some strong opinions, and I'd
love for you. Yeah, I know, I'd love for you
guys to weigh in, so we feel like an opinionated
person really never sensed it. All right, Well, get ready.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Hey, new year, new thoughts. Here we go.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
I'll have you guys way into so we can figure
out some things together.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Ok, all right, okay, we've got jelly Roll ninety three
point one WPOC.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I am not okay. I'm barely getting back.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
It's jelly Roll seven minutes after six.
Speaker 7 (02:23):
So.
Speaker 8 (02:25):
To keep us in the loop of entertainment and pop
culture and the things we shouldn't care about, but somehow
we really do eat Bethany on ninety three point one.
Speaker 6 (02:36):
Well, Laurie, as you mentioned a few minutes ago, National
Breakup Day or whatever, it's like the most Megan Fox
machine gun Kelly on the outs. Uh, I know they
seemed really perfect together.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Kid coming too.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Yeah, she's pregnant with mgk's baby do in March. She
apparently hasn't seen him in quite some time, and then
there's rumors that she might be dating one of her
co stars from Subsurvalains or whatever that have. You guys
watched that show. Now, he's handsome, so I guess I
don't know, but his rep says it's simply professional. And
(03:16):
I guess the breakup was because she found something on
mgk's phone that she didn't like.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
So I know it's the beginning of the end folk.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Oh yikes.
Speaker 6 (03:25):
Okay, So did you see Jason Kelsey put his foot
in his mouth about Texas?
Speaker 1 (03:31):
I'm so surprised.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
I know, Well, this is one of the things that
I want your opinion on. What do we think about
this because he seems to be in his retirement just
kind of a little bit loose. Yeah, So anyway, you
know how they did the Simpsons Wednday night football mashup
thing or whatever, So it's Springfield and he said that's
(03:54):
they I guess they make the joke that it's the
armpit of America and he said that about Dall and
then he was like, just kidding, We're just having fun here.
But I guess Dallas is mad.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Oh Dallas, you can't mess with Texas.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
I guess not, guess not.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
But here's the Yeah, the backstory is he played for
the Eagles, and the Eagles and the Cowboys have like
a very long standing rivalry. So it's not like I
feel like that is sort of a good natured ribbing
of sports. Like that's so yeah, Dallas is going to
be offended by it. But like, I don't think it's
any different than say, like Orioles and Yankees fans like
having some sort of coming on how terrible New York
is or something.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
I don't know. I just think that's part of like
the sports fandom that he's in.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Dallas is just being too sensitive.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I don't think it's actual anger, Like I think it's
just like, but we get it, man, Like we get it.
You're an Eagles play or a former Eagles player. We
get it, Like I said, but we're gonna be mad,
Like it's just.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I do want to keep like drama.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
I do want to keep an eye on this though,
because he I feel like he's on that cusp of
like are we going to get over exposed and irritated
by this guy or you know.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
So surprise people haven't already like and I have no
issue with him, but like, I'm surprised that people haven't
already been like we're double with like him with Travis,
like with the Cheat, like all, like all his wifs podcast.
It does seem though, like they all still keep bringing ratings,
bringing money, Like that Hallmark movie about the Chiefs got
better ratings in like four college football.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Matchups that day.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Like yeah, Like people seem obsessed with this Kelsey like
family brand thing.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
I don't get it, but hey, that's great seven seven,
nine to six two. Begin your message with higher. Hey,
you can have an opinion on anything that we're talking
about here. Brad Pitt Angela digitally offered a sixty million
dollar paycheck if they do a movie together. Wow, not
gonna happen, right, I doubt it. They're so mad at
each other. The circle of trust will continue. A new
(05:45):
Meet the Parents film is in the works, and apparently
all the key players are in talks to return. It's
very early on, but uh, I guess it's happening. Are
we here for that? I don't think we need that.
Don't know if we need one of those. All of
them are pretty old now, like, what is it? Meet
the great great grandparents right right? And then scientists at
(06:07):
the University of Hong Kong have developed a VR lollipop
that will let users taste virtual food while they're watching TV.
So this is kind of neat, Like if you're watching
a food show, cooking show, something like that, you just
put the lollipop in your mouth and you'll be able
to smell and taste what they're making on TV. I
(06:28):
think that has potential to be something I might want
in that lollipop that allows you to do that, like
food grade chemicals and electrical currents.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
I I don't think I need that. Yeah, I feel like.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
This might be the future of entertainment, like a full
immersive experience smell, taste, sound, visual. I'm in for it.
Let's do it. Or if you just want to strip
it down, you can listen to us here on the radio.
That's just one sense that you have to use. Yeah, anyway,
like I said, way in, let us know your THINGK
(07:00):
and sevens of ninety sixty begin your message with higher Hey, all.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Right, coming up here in just a minute, we're going
to talk about one Christmas? Is there one Christmas? One Hanukah?
One Kwanza, one holiday celebration in your life that stands
out above all others. We're going to talk about that
here in just a few minutes. We do have rain
in the area today. We've got temperatures going up into
the low sixties today and then they'll start to drop
(07:25):
throughout the rest of the day, but very mild out
as you walk outside fifty eight posts malone Morgan Wallen
ninety three point one WPOC coming up. Of course, you
know we're celebrating Christmas, some folks, Kwanza, Hanika, whatever it
(07:46):
is you're celebrating. We just want to Usually what happens
at this time of year, you kind of get reflective
and you think of other years. You know, could be
you've lost someone over the last year and that's tough
the first year, or you remember the I'm that oh yeah,
we ended up in the er on Christmas morning because
so and so did this. I remember that Christmas song
(08:08):
where Garth Brooks tells the story of how he couldn't
wait to get home at Christmas and he got into
a snowstorm as he was driving to his mom's house,
and how excited he was to finally make it because
he wasn't sure he was going to get there, So
I thought, you know what, We're getting close enough. Let's
roll out some memorable holiday stories. Anything that really stands
(08:28):
out for you guys, maybe as a kid or as
an adult, that you just will always remember that Christmas.
Speaker 6 (08:37):
My dad used to be a snowplow driver when I
was growing up, and we lived south of Buffalo, so like.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
A lot of snow.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
Yeah, that was a thing. And I remember countless Christmas
like where he would be out snowplowing, like early in
the morning and we would have to wait till he
got home to open our presence. Oh it was TORTI
it was the worst. I was like, Oh, it can't
be that many roads.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
There's that much snow.
Speaker 6 (09:08):
Yeah, And he would come home and it would be
like as if Santa was there, Like we were like,
oh my god, he's here.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
No one was ever happier to be seen.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Okay, what about you, safe, Do you have a special
holiday story? Do you remember anything? I told the one
last week about New Year's Day being at the hospital
with our little guy, right, yeah, Taylor, when he was
just two months old. That was not a fun holiday,
but definitely memorable.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yeah, I mean, I guess I would be remiss if
I didn't. My sister came home from the hospital on
Christmas Day. Yeah, sooo, so that was one thing.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
But I mean I was so young, Like I don't
really have much of a memory of that, besides the
fact that I know what happened. I think, without picking
just one particular moment.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
For a solid like ten to twelve years, I would
go home for Christmas and the night before Christmas Eve,
so Christmas Eve Eve, I would get together with a
couple of my clothes friends that i'd you know, only
see once a year, and we would just kind of
throw down at the one bar in my hometown. But
it was what was fun about it is not only
just catching up with these two people that I, you know,
(10:11):
really love and respect, but because it was the only
bar in town, Like you didn't know who else was
going to show up, Like random people from our past
would always pop in. Yeah, Like there was a guy
that was a bartender and that became a manager that
was like my best friend in elementary school in middle schools, Like,
it was kind of nice seeing him once a year,
you know, even though our past had changed, it was
still nice to you know, catch up and just all
sorts of random like people would pop in. So for
(10:33):
like a solid decade and then my brother and sister
became old enough to come join us and partake. It
was just our group started with the three of us,
and I think the last year we did it, we
had like twenty five people that were all like taking
over this bar restaurant. Like our bill, Like I remember
one year it was like, I think it was four
of us because one of my friend's boyfriends came with us,
and there were four of us, and I think our
(10:54):
bill was like three hundred and fifty dollars, and it
was like this is like New Hampshire ba can dive
fifteen years ago. It's not even new prices now, you
know we got We're like, oh my god, what did
we do? But anyway, it was just fun, Like it
was fun knowing that was on the calendar. And as
life has changed and you know, we don't always go
home to see my family anymore because of you know,
(11:15):
getting married and having different family members to a peace,
but it was just I don't know, it was just
something that I looked forward to. You every year, was
like seeing those people in that place and hang out.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
All right. Well, if you've got a holiday story, one
of those holidays that just will always stand out to you.
I remember the first holiday after my mom passed away
in November. It was a very sudden thing. She was
in her fifties, and I can remember we hosted my
dad because my dad was just at loose ends, you know,
still kind of in shock for what had happened. And
(11:46):
that was just one of the saddest holiday times because
we were all still feeling the impact and we just
kind of sat around staring at each other.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
Just go through the motions.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
What do we do? Yeah, So I've got to on Facebook.
If you want to kind of share your memory most
memorable holiday season, something that happened to you, we'd love
to hear it. You can text us seven seven nine
six ' two start with higher. Hey, you can always
call it eight hundred and three two one thirty six
(12:18):
ninety three, but we'd just love to hear from it.
Here's Dylan Marlow and Dylan Stock.
Speaker 5 (12:27):

Speaker 3 (12:40):
The congratulations to Caitlin Clark. She was name Time Magazine's
Athlete of the Year. The former college superstar had a
pretty historic year. I mean, she broke the NCAA career
scoring record while in college last spring. Then she went
on to set records in her rookie year of the
WNBA and earned the Rookie of the Year award. Not
to mention what her name did to increase viewership and
ticket sales for games and really just put the WANBA
(13:03):
on the map for a lot of folks that hadn't
spent much time with it since it's and sumphit So
it's hard to imagine anybody else getting this recognition this year,
But congrats to Kaylin Clark. The Mega Million's jackpot is
rolling over once again. No grand prize winner last night.
The next drawing on Friday will now be worth at
least six hundred and seventy million dollars. The cash option
there works out to be a little less than three
hundred and eighteen million bucks. So I've talked about this before,
(13:26):
but the story continues to just be wild. At the
beginning of the school year, Baltimore County School buses installed
cameras to catch drivers who failed to stop for the
buses that are picking up and dropping off students. During
the warning period, they saw an outrageous number of drivers
just blowing by the buses. The videos they shared from
those cameras, I mean, there are kids narrowly being missed
by vehicles, like, just insane stuff in just the last month,
(13:49):
I'm sorry. On November fourth, the warning period period stopped
and official tickets have started to be issued. So just
a month ago, the school bus cameras have now caught
more than seventy four hundred drivers failing to stop in
a month. That's a lot of people. I did the
math just out of curiosity. Seventy four hundred tickets at
two hundred and fifty dollars a pop. Almost two million
dollars they've gotten from tickets for passing school buses here
(14:11):
in just a month.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
It's insane.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
So, in case you were unaware, if a school bus
has a stop sign out, you need to stop.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
Like you're not supposed to, no matter what bus like.
That's Them's the rules, folks.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Unless you want to pay two hundred fifty bucks at
Baltimore County, then that's on you.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
But there you go. That's a new update.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
All right. I've got your tickets. So Thomas Rhett will
be at Jidilub Live next year in August. If you
want to go, Thank you Live Nation for those tickets.
We've got a pair of tickets right now for Callar
nine eight hundred three two one thirty six ninety three.
Here's more than wall and we're thinking about me supposed
Malone and Blake Shelton ninety three point one WPOC. You
(14:51):
were on the edge of our chairs?
Speaker 6 (14:52):
What did you do that was better? Okay? I was
that person at the Hipodrome last night. So we went
to go see Life of Pie, which it was great.
So if you want to see something kind of inspirational
that that's your ticket. Uh okay, but hmmm, So a
couple hours before I went to the show, I guess
(15:14):
it's like three forty five shows. At seven thirty, I
was feeling not so great. So I was like, I
think I might just have not had enough water today.
I don't know, I was feeling a little dizzy. It's important, sure,
So that's like your first line of defense, right, So
I drink a whole bunch of water and then I
have this like electrolyte stuff. I was like, let me
try this. So I had a whole bunch of stuff
(15:35):
to drink. Well that came into play during the performance.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Up and down, and then oh.
Speaker 6 (15:43):
It was the worst. Now I was one in from
the aisle okay, so right, so it wasn't a big situation.
But the people behind okay, So I get up. I
didn't know there was intermission.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Oh okay.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
So I'm like sitting there and I'm like, I really
gotta go. I really have to go. And then I
was like, I don't know if there's an intermission in
the show or not.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I think there usually is.
Speaker 6 (16:06):
Speaking yeah, yeah, well the original I looked it up
later because I was like, boy, the original Broadway production
didn't have an intermission, but this one did. But I
didn't know and I couldn't risk it.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
So I get up.
Speaker 6 (16:18):
I get up, and I go find the ladies room,
and I hear the people behind me and they're like, oh, oh,
they're so dramatic.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
More die.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
Well this is the first time. So I'm like, ma'am,
calm down. Behind me, I'm like, calm down. I didn't
say that, I thought it, but so then I was like,
should I just so? Then I look it up. There
is an intermission? Fine, should I wait to go back
in until the intermission? No, I don't want to miss
the show, of course, so I sneak back in. Oh boy,
Now they're like, it's not an option.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Did you like stand in the back till the intermission?
Speaker 6 (16:50):
Well, the the ushers do want you to. They do
want they do. I did try.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
That's somebody else I thought, because I was embarrassed. You know,
I want to point this out too, in case people listening.
I have not been at the Hippodrome. The rows of
seats are amazingly small, so close if you want, if
somebody needs to get up to get out, like everyone,
Oh yeah, it's it's an ordeal to make.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (17:11):
So then intermission comes. I don't have to go during intermission,
like I'm a child. She just went yeah at this point,
I'm a child. So I'm like, okay, I don't have
to go, but I'm thinking to myself I go again, just.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
To be sure, because I did drink a lot, that's right.
Speaker 6 (17:24):
No, No, I instead get a drink from the bar.
I know I didn't, so I think, well, I can
get through the next forty five minutes or whatever. I didn't, guys,
I know.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
I know, Oh I got you are that girl?
Speaker 6 (17:43):
And I got up again this time. This time there's
moans from people. Yeah, and I was like, I'm sorry.
It was only twice, but it felt like sixteen. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
So I get up this time. I stayed. This time,
I stayed out.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
I think you did the right thing, you, guys.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
I was so embarrassed.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
So you missed the end of the show.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
I did, but I saved everyone around me.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Okay, you sacrificed.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
I did.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
I felt so I fell the grenade for everybody else.
Speaker 6 (18:12):
I thought to myself, like I've been we've all been
on like a plane when this happens, or like in
a movie theater, you're just like, sit down, you don't
have to go that bad.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
But I did.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
I'm here to tell you I did.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
I think I would have told them that you had
like diarrhea or something. I did.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
Think that would have been worse than like I drink
too much and it was waters something moral of the story,
like say dehydrated. I don't know, maybe you don't need to.
Speaker 8 (18:42):
Drink enough water.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
I just just saying, right before an event like that,
you might.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Want to well, it was three forty five. I thought
I had plenty of times.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
That kicks in and all of a sudden.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
I'm sorry to everyone who was sitting around me at
the Hipodrome last night.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
That was her.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
I never feel judged anywhere in my life like I
do at a show at the Hippodrome, because my we
I'm that person that wants to beat the traffic out
to Like the second the show is over, I'm gone.
Like everybody stands and collapse, and that's the proper thing
to do. I know, that's a properate Like I am
out the door. You're running down the when they put
me in the middle of the row like I'm sorry,
I'm that guy, but I'm pushing through like I'm getting
(19:19):
out of here.
Speaker 7 (19:20):
You also have a very early call time, that's it,
Like I don't want to be stuck in the parking
garage for an hour and a half way to get out,
like I.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Gotta get going. These shows end at ten or thirty
or eleven o'clock and so like. But but there's never
a place that I feel as judge as I do
at like a musical or something.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
I think, Yeah, well, don't worry. Last night they were
only judging me.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
I would have laughed so hard.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
I was so embarrassed, and then she would if you
would get her to laugh, that would have been.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
That would have been.
Speaker 7 (19:46):
It would have been it's so funny to watch get
up again embarrassing Russell Dickers. It's estable inch.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
With jelly roll ninety three point one w POC. So
is it about the office party or is it about
whether you'd rather have a bonus instead of the office party?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Well, how there could be multiple conversations built into this.
There could be a lot of opportunities. I suppose I
did get into a conversation with a friend of mine
who I don't forget if they're having an office party
or but he was like, would because I was talking
about our party, because our party was just announced last
week and it's going to be next week. Yeah, it's
gonna be coming up, yeah, next week, when like most
people are already like getting ready to take off and
(20:34):
get out of and I was like, boy, wait to
go to the last minute. I mean, I appreciate the
fact that they're willing to offer a gathering for us,
But my friend was like, would you prefer to have
an office holiday party or would you rather they just
kind of split the money and give you guys like
a little bit of bonus. And I laughed because I
know my company, this company will not pay for our
office party. They're going to trade it in advertising. So
there is no money, Like, they're not spending money on
(20:57):
the party here, you want a trip to Hawaii? Office party? Yes,
Oh that's right, I did. They do, like our company does,
come together with things that they have. They dig out
the prize closet and they find some things to give away,
which I think is fun. Like I think it's a
good opportunity to do. My point was that, like we're
going to a restaurant for our party that we're going
to then be advertising for.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Yeah, like there is.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
No like, there's no like, oh, we're going to spend
ten grand on a party, so instead of doing that,
we're going to split the ten grand among our employees.
We don't have that because there is no spending on
the party. I guess my friend's company does, like they
have that opportunity. They could they could potentially do that,
but I don't know. I mean, I do think there
is something about having a gathering because there are a
lot of people here, especially given this shift that we
(21:40):
don't see very often. Sometimes there are people you don't
necessarily need to see. But I do think there's something
like to.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Kind of catch up with everybody.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
There is something kind of nice about having a gathering,
like I do appreciate that there is.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
There is something funny though.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
I always think that ours comes after our DC office,
so we are like iHeartMedia as a company. We have
a DC office in a ball some more office, but
all of our bosses work in DC, like most of
most Yeah, most of the business is done out of DC,
and then we're just kind of like almost seem like
a satellite office for them. And I mean, I'm not
saying anything that people in the company don't know, but
(22:13):
they just had a party, Like Joey McIntyre from New
Kids in the Block was there, like hanging out and
performing for them, and.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
I was like, we usually do karaoke.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
I don't want to.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Say we're lucky if we get karaoke, because I don't
know if luck is I think the person that scheduled
it no longer works here.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
That went out the window.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Blessing, but it's just funny though, Like when you see
those pictures, my wife will be like, is Joey mc
andre gonna come to your party?
Speaker 6 (22:40):
I was like, no, man, he was my favorite.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
You look at your wife and said, you're not even coming.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
No, you're not even invited. I got.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
I got scolded because one year, it was two years ago,
I brought my daughter because it was like, I either
bring my daughter or I don't come, and they were like, well,
it's really frowned upon if you don't come. I was like, well,
then I'm bringing the two year olds with me, and
I got scolded for that. So I've had to like
find a babysitter for this year.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Yeah, the reason we have gold is because if somebody
sees someone brings someone and they asked to bring someone,
I get it.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
I did have that thought.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
But I was also like, she's two and she's going
to be in my arms the majority of the time.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Like, I don't think we're gonna be.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
She's gonna put a dent in the bar, right, Yeah,
I don't think she's not even eating any of the food,
Like it's not it's not that but anyway, so I
do get that, but it's but yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
I just think I think the oppice holiday party thing
is kind of funny. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
When I first came here in nineteen eighty five, okay,
we were owned by an insurance company, right, which was
amazing because we had just a bigger, much bigger budget.
We had a budget, actually, but when it came to
Christmas time, we would get a bonus every year and
it was kind of a percentage of what your salary was,
(23:49):
which was nice. But then they did lovely parties like
downtown at the top of the something something where there's
a restaurant you can see over the city. And one
we did a cruise in the harbor, or we had
our party out there. But when you think about back
then and the parties that they threw, and how fun
it was to be able to actually really be treated
(24:12):
special for this one night, you know, Yeah, it was
something to look forward to. I mean, still it's you know,
you're going to get some awkward conversations and all that,
but for the most part, it was just it was lovely.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
You said cruise. I was like, ain, no way, I'm
going to get captive on a boat.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
It was a short cruise.
Speaker 6 (24:35):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
But anyway, there was a day when that happened. And
then as the years go on, you just see things
drop down. Then it went from bonuses to maybe you
get like something with the station logo, like a jacket
at the end of the year, and then it went
from that till you get a turkey.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
What's funny is I remember growing up and like every
movie and every TV show that I watched as a child,
they always made it was like a full episode or
something about the Christmas bonus was so like I grew
up thinking, like when I got the hit Corporate World,
I was going to get a Christmas bonus, And I mean,
we are our company is I'm joking in some of
these ways. Our company is very nice to us, but
(25:13):
like occasionally we'll get like a nice gift card at
the end of the year. But like the Christmas bonus idea,
I have never seen.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Never seen it.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Yeah right, I want Chevy Chase Christmas vacation, like his.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Entire year is riding on the Christmas bonus.
Speaker 6 (25:24):
But he gets let's crowdsource a little right now seven
seven ninety six, who begin your message with higher, Hey,
do you get a Christmas bonus? And are you happy
with it? And or do you like your holiday party?
Or should we get rid of them?
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (25:38):
All other?
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah, like is it necessary at all? Okay, all right,
I like it. Let us know what you think again
seven to seven, nine six two, start with higher. Hey,
we want to know what you're feeling. Here's Darius Rucker.

Baltimore Now top stories at the top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
A wild fire that started Monday night and blew up
in Malibu, California, has four thousands from their homes. They
say they have some fifteen hundred firefighters working NonStop to
curb the blaze, but so far it is still at
zero percent containment. Brutal winds are whipping through the entire
southern California region, which is adding fuel to what's being
called the Franklin Fire. More than three thousand acres have
been churned a charge so far. About eighteen thousand people
(26:37):
are being affected by that fire. I saw video from
Pepperdine University.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Which is right there.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
I could say, canceled classes and are having a shelter
in place.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
But the video they show up so close.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
They're like looking out the window of their campus buildings,
and it's like right there.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
I don't Yeah, I sat of.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Thinking, So what happens if the whole building goes right,
all the buildings go up, and there are halfway through
the school.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Right, what do you do with all those students too?
Like get them out of there anyway? Also, Dick van
Dyk has been evacuated. He's celebrating his ninety ninth birthday
on Friday. He says he and his wife are safe,
but gosh, I guess the house across the street from
his has already burned down and share evacuated too. Yeah,
I mean they've got places they can go to. But still,
you know, you're celebrating your ninety ninth birthday. The last
thing you wanted to loose your house. Also, really quick,
(27:18):
the Baltimore area losing a couple more restaurants. Last week,
I told you that Mothers in Federal Hill was going
to close down. Now it's Nacho Mama's turn. The Nacho
Mama's locations in both Canton and Towson will be closing
their doors in January. The owners thank Baltimore for quote
giving us the ride of a lifetime and so that
there are other restaurants. Mama's on the Half Shell will
stay open, and they mentioned potential growth for the restaurant
group in general.
Speaker 4 (27:39):

Speaker 6 (28:20):
A white canvas has sold for one point four million
dollars at a German auction. It's just a fifty two
by fifty two canvas with nothing on it.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Just like the bananas. What are people doing?
Speaker 6 (28:34):
What is happening. Robert Ryman his art and people, many
people were vying for this piece of art. So you know,
maybe something to give someone on your holiday list, just
a blank canvas from like Michaels or whatever. There's a
good reason that Dune two was snubbed at Monday's Golden
Globe nominations. The filmmakers didn't submit it, okay, So if
(28:56):
you're wondering, that's why. I don't know if it would
have gotten anything anyway, right, Maybe that's what Caitlin Clark
has been named Time Magazine's Athlete of the Year. Congratulations
to her. She also recently became friends with Taylor Swift,
so that's great. A couple things to watch on Netflix

he's been going to Chuck e chee since he was
a toddler. And three years ago he decided he wanted
to give back, so he decided to collect a million
(29:38):
tickets to donate to Toys for Tots, and that's what
he did. He went every weekend and played mostly Wheel
of Fortune. He got a million tickets and got a
whole bunch of toys from the little shop there and
donated them all the toys for Tots. Isn't that the
sweetest thing?
Speaker 8 (29:54):
No?
Speaker 6 (29:54):
I love it.

but do you know what the number one Christmas contail
in Maryland is?
Speaker 4 (30:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Go ahead, okay, if you ask me, I would have
probably guessed a hot Tottie or something Irish coffee. Oh
okay o Maryland is their favorite Christmas.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
Do you guys like mold wine?
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Mold wine not a fan? No, I don't.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
You make a hot for the holiday.
Speaker 1 (31:20):

anybody who's traveling away for the holiday. It's just funny. Uh,
packing extra underwear for that trip brings you a sense
of security?
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Oh sure? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (31:35):
You guys definitely bring like one hundred pairs.
Speaker 4 (31:39):

Speaker 8 (32:10):
All right?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
One clip to play for you today Colbert was talking
about what everybody's been talking about listening.
Speaker 9 (32:17):
Mangioni has become something of an internet celebrity, and people
are not thrilled with the altoon McDonald's employees who mickfingered him.
Several nasty Google reviews have been left of the Altuna location,
including they got rats behind the counter, do not recommend,
while many other simple lift one star reviews citing bad
(32:37):
service and so called snitches.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
Okay, I don't know if it's just me, if I'm
the only one, but all the jokes about all this,
it doesn't feel good to me. I know, all the
late night people are doing it. I didn't play all
the time.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
A family and everything. I totally understand what you're saying.
It doesn't seem like it feels wrong. I can't believe
you guys from Towson right here, you know so weird.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
But everywhere and the family in general, yeah, well know,
the connections of that family, it's just so wild.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
I understand. It's a great family.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
By the way, all right tonight, if you're one of
those people like me, loves the holiday shows, you've got
one tonight, a Motown Christmas on NBC tonight. That could
be kind of fun. And my good news story. The
ten states with the most Christmas Spirit, let's hear it
from Maryland coming in at number seven ten lists. Yeah,
(33:29):
Pennsylvania was just behind us at number eight.
Speaker 6 (33:31):
I think it's you know, thirty fourth Street in Ham.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Then you think that doesn't that's what pushed us over.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
And the German Christmas Village at the Inner Harbor.
