Speaker 2 (02:07):
It's been crazy right with the rain.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
It's been a fairly moderately moderate rain.

Speaker 2 (02:12):

be trippy.

Speaker 6 (02:16):

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Hi, Jimbo, how's it going?

Speaker 2 (02:30):

Speaker 9 (02:35):

this morning.

Speaker 6 (02:39):

but it's boring.

on or something, you know.

Speaker 8 (03:04):
Spice and color.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
He's wearing a bull like you wouldn't believe it. He's
waving it. Happy you guys. Anyway, So he talked with
me last night, Really, he talked to you.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
He didn't take up on me usual nights. Amazing.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
Three seconds he said to me, what do you want?
He said, what do you fin want? Why are you
bothering me? Okay? And what the f can I do
for you? It sounds about right.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It was kind of a nice.

Speaker 9 (03:29):
Yeah, I was night too, but.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
He said up with a smile on your face. I
felt really nice to both. Thanks Grea. So fire went
out this week. What'd you catch there, big boy?

Speaker 9 (03:41):
Well, first off, I froze my butt off pretty much
every day this week and out there on the water,
you know, it wasn't really cold, but it was cold.
So at least it's a little more warm today. So
we were cold all week. We had a relatively good weather,
maybe some overcasts, some grizzly rain yesterday, and fishing is

(04:05):
still a little bit on the tough side. We're catching
fish every day, but we're having to work hard for them,
which I prefer the days they just jump in the
boat when you just go catch fish.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
But yeah, yeah, yeah, that hasn't been.

Speaker 9 (04:20):
So the surface surface bites have been kind of slim.
Only a handful of sails and I didn't catch any
of them this week. A handful of dolphin. I did
catch one yesterday, so that's a little handful. And then
yesterday afternoon there was a fairly decent kingfish bite. We've

(04:43):
been dropping on res catching some amberjacks. I had some
nice snappers during the week, month snappers. I had yellow
eyed snappers, had some Montain snappers trolling as well. But
yesterday afternoon we put some live base out on the
edge for a maybe half an hour forty five minutes,
and we had roughly six or seven king bites and

(05:05):
caught three of them, which is pretty good from how
it's been. Yeah, so these were roughly in one hundred
and forty hundred and fifty feet of water. It's a
little deeper than usual, and we had some herrings that
we put out there. We went to put the kite out,
but it started raining, so we had to pull the
kite in because they don't fly in the rain. Yeah,

(05:28):
once they get wet, they go swimming and that's not good.
So we just were flatlining and had a couple live
base side of the riggers, and we're getting some king fights.
So today on the road almost down to the boat
as we speak, and I'm going to start out seeing
if those kings are still biting. Hopefully you get a
few of those right off the bed.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Any any big ones or just all kind of the ones.

Speaker 9 (05:55):
I had were up to maybe eight to ten pounds,
so not big, but there have been a couple fifteen
pounders caught that I've seen. But it's not like they're
running by any means, but there have been some king bites.
And there's then one of the boats on what's today

(06:15):
on Thursday had ten dolphin okay, and then all the
other boats combined did not catch ten. So he was
sitting out in the deep water libaiting and he had
a few swim up to him. They caught a few,
and then they were in a little shallower and they
had a few more swim up to them. So they
weren't out hunting for him. They the dolphin hunted them,

(06:38):
which that's a great way to catch them. Yeah, so
anyway you can catch them as a great way.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Question, right, Jim.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
I was out this week doing two boat test dot
Com yacht videos on the hill, okay, and I happen
to see the flyer. We went right by you, this
big beautiful fifty foot yacht brink called di'antonio, I might add,
and I saw you to see me, but I was
waving at you. I had the one finger wave. I'm
not sure you saw that, but I had the one

(07:06):
finger wave going yeah, just.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
For you, buddy.

Speaker 8 (07:09):
You're right.

Speaker 9 (07:09):
That's that's why I don't usually pay any attention to
the yachts because I get a lot of that.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
So, yeah, I was styling man on a big beautiful
So when you were on.

Speaker 9 (07:20):
The yacht, were you wearing like a little yachtsman's uniform
and the hat with the captains and scramble egg like.

Speaker 6 (07:28):
A blue blazer with a very cool boat test dot
Com shirt. We'll play slacks with some very cool boat shoes,
and I look quite yachty.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
I must say, you wear a hat. Never put a
hand on the head. Ever. No, but I won't wear
a hat.

Speaker 9 (07:47):
My hat won't fit on that that hair that he has.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
If you had a hat.

Speaker 9 (07:56):
Head number one, that's your hair, never one.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
You'll never put a hat on this immaculate do I'm worrying. Okay,
so doesn't move.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
Ever, what's the number of off?

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I'll tell you what in two thousand? What do you
see this?

Speaker 6 (08:10):
Jimbo to scare the hell out of you and probably
could go back home and cry if he pulls his
hat off this morning. Okay, you're seeing what I call
live sarcasm growing out of his head.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Hey, at least like a hair.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
You got a patch of snatch up there. Bad. It's
just nasty.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
You know, it's a fro, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
It's a it's just it's a man patch. I don't
know what you call it.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Man.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
Yeah, it's it's like amrket. It's like a big patch
of ass hair. It taste ruth really yeah, okay, yeah,
pretty much.

Speaker 9 (08:39):
Yeah from somebody that.

Speaker 6 (08:46):
Oh, it's set the bar really low we going this morning,
who really cares?

Speaker 2 (08:51):
And so I can't even think straight.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Jimbo any side to those mahi.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
No, just cool.

Speaker 9 (09:00):
They The one we had was probably five pounds, and
the other ones being caught were just schoolies, nothing of size.
But I did not hear of any throwbacks, so you know,
fish sandwich size at least, which you know, anything that
wants to bite is all good, especially when we've had
to work for him, So we're happy to see them.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
I was telling Jim and last night man that he
was bragging about catching all these amberjacks for his clients.
I said, they just are just to be the worst fish.
I said, anybody your boat eat them, these clients, he goes,
she goes a lot of them do because they don't
know any better.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah, they don't any better. What he said, all right?

Speaker 6 (09:38):
They said they saved the day because to me, they
they break whatever bones I have left in my back.
They just hard to bring in. And he said his
clients is digam man, So they saved the day.

Speaker 9 (09:52):
So I love amberjacks, not necessarily to eat, but a
lot of people eat them. If you go in the
Gulf like Texas, Louisia, and even in North Florida, they
go nuts over them. They they have an amberjack season.
People wait in line to go out and catch amberjacks
up there, but they don't have to guess. They eat them.

Speaker 8 (10:14):
They eat them like crazy.

Speaker 9 (10:17):
Ole here eat amberjacks too, but they're years ago. They
are really frown, you know, not found upon, but nobody
ate them. Nowadays people do eat them a lot more commonly,
and honestly, there's nothing wrong with them. But amberjacks for
a charter boat are great because they're big fish. They

(10:38):
pull hard. They're not guaranteed by any means. You can't
just go out and you know like, oh well, if
we can't catch anything, we'll go catch amberjacks. So that's
not the case. They're not a guarantee catch by any means.
But most of our customers, not all of them, but
a lot of our customers the biggest fish they've ever
caught is a sun perch or a walleye.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
And here we.

Speaker 9 (11:02):
Go catch a thirty or forty pounds fish, and the
bait we use is bigger than what they've ever caught.
It's a It is a great fish. Now, whether you
keep them or let them go, it's still a great
fish to pull on. People go pull on salefish. An
amber jack will pull a salefish backwards. And we're letting
those go too, So you know, they just have a

(11:23):
bad rep, just like a beanita. But not many people
eat banitas.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Eric, he's not much. Stek, he's not much.

Speaker 9 (11:30):
I forgot.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
I forgot about.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
It's so much Joe that really enjoy eating these fish.
Same states where the brothers marry the sisters. I mean,
that's what kind of a mindset the free straight do
and are. And yeah, little deliverance going on.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Yeah, but where is I mean, listen, we are spoiled here, right,
I mean, coming from New Jersey, you know we got
to go one hundred miles to the canyons.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
You got the dead bodies out there yet, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
And you know it's it's we got to go super
far just to get a mahi.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
So I get it.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
You know, like catching an aj if you're coming from
like Minnesota or something like that, you.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Just kissing his ass.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Man, the eating party.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
Is kissing Jimbo's butt. A lot of charter, a lot
of charter alcohol.

Speaker 9 (12:16):
A lot of charter people they don't know, uh a
salefish from a breaking snapper, So they just want to
go out and have the experience of catching a good
sized deep sea type fish, and an amber jack is
one of the one of the more available ones on

(12:37):
a regular basis. But again, it's not like I can
just say, oh, let's go out and catch amberjacks, because
it's not like that. Unfortunately, it used to be a
lot more productive or consistent. Whatever you want to say.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
Probably tells those clients when agent comes in. Hey, mister
Wolinski from Minnesota, that's one of the best eighty fish
you just caught right there.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
You'll you'll love you for having a bite of that.

Speaker 6 (13:01):
Later on the worms and kind of the worms out,
you'll be doing great man.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (13:07):
And they if they did not have worms, we wouldn't
be able to touch any of them because they would
have been fished out long ago, because they are If
you had a piece of amberjack and a piece of
grouper or snapper, you would not know the difference.

Speaker 6 (13:25):
I would assure you you would not. My talent is
that tuned in. I can tell you what man. Yeah,
Jimbo you just gave me an.

Speaker 9 (13:34):
I probably even leave the worms in it. You wouldn't
know the difference.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Don't you ever do that to me?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
I think, Jimbo, we do we do a cook off
like we did with the banita.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
And the tuna and tricked Eric on that. Do you
remember what you said you ateanita.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Tastes like air, tastes like air.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
It's just amazing smug.

Speaker 6 (13:55):
So let's say Joe tastes like smugs. We're late as
hell here. Yeah, Jim, go fishing both, Mac. That's all
the as you can stand.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Man.

Speaker 6 (14:01):
He feed up all your your your senseless customers are
they're a great fight.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Thanks.

Speaker 9 (14:05):
I hope they bite like crazy today.

Speaker 6 (14:08):

to bite your hook. Alright, have a great day, bite

Speaker 2 (19:36):
It's not his thing? Man? He doesn't fish for bonefish.

Speaker 6 (19:38):
He's a fresh water guy, but I'm sure he's probably
maybe caught a few des he had to.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
I don't know what's asking, man, so ask Adam.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
The man's rember with the brand new knees, new shoulder,

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Good morning to your brothers.

Speaker 25 (19:54):
Yes, yes, yes, I have caught bonefish before the question
before you go.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
At it, hot bone fished, old George. Oh there you go, man,
I had to know that already.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Yeah, so we chatted last night, big value in a
couple of days this week and got some bass man.

Speaker 25 (20:08):
Yeah yeah, well well yes, we've caught a few baths too,
But the peacocks were actually bite really good. So I'm
still on a good bite with the peacocks and hopefully
it's going to remain the same. And the weather looks
a little bit more normal finally coming up. I mean,
yesterday was pretty pretty nasty out.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
There all day, so yeah, it's kind of on.

Speaker 25 (20:29):
The cold side, drizzly, raining, and then heck, we even
had a thunderstorm rolled through, which kind of surprised me
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Yeah, weird, weird weather man.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
I think you know, I don't think I don't remember
this many cold fronts back to back.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Really, it's put a strange woodhead, right, yeah, right.

Speaker 25 (20:45):
We have been on the cooler side, at least in
my opinion, from what I've seen going back into November, December,
and of course now January, it's been it's been really
kind of to me, it's more what it used to be. Okay,
it has not been this way for the last few
years on the warm side, and this year it's a
little bit cooler, and it's actually making it easier for
me to find the fish. They tend to lunch up

(21:07):
around the bridges.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Do you spin any floaters? Jimbos?

Speaker 6 (21:10):
The water got cold up, I mean, Jimbo, sorry allent
early bro coffees, I kicked in, Wow, have you found
any floaters from that cold snaps or two? Or I
know that Johnny Bill said maybe if you might be
floating around.

Speaker 25 (21:25):
I've not been out to the Evergladers Wishes, where I
was finding a few before. Okay, Joe, Yeah, you hear that, Joe.
And and now I'm talking to the other guy.

Speaker 6 (21:37):
Okay, I'll get it, I get it, please, But but
I've not seeing any in in the in the city canals,
which tend to stay a little bit warmer anyway.

Speaker 25 (21:47):
So so I think, uh, I mean, I think we'll
get through this winter. I don't foresee the future. Next
couple of weeks don't look too bad. I don't see
any really hard cold fronts coming all the way through here.
I know up north it's gonna be very cold next
to this next few days. Yeah, and better than they're not.
That's all I can say. No, no offense to them.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Of course, Well it's gonna be, don't.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
We have one more big one coming through. It's gonna
be in like the the fifties, like fifty to fifty
one in a couple of days.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
That's not so bad.

Speaker 9 (22:17):
Yeah, that's not so bad.

Speaker 25 (22:18):
If want to start dropping in the forties and regular
bases and stuff like that. I mean, what we've had there,
you know, last week was kind of leading to that.
But luckily it's it's kind of tempered back off again,
and we'll be okay. I think we're gonna be okay.
A few, Bill, there's always gonna be a few that
die off the week, don't don't make it. They might
have had some other issues going on, kind of like

(22:40):
your partner there, Joe.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Yeah, agreed.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Now on the other bad side of the Joe, I
just figured out who he's ranking, Like, yeah.

Speaker 25 (22:52):
Well you've got that coming. I mean, it's it's simple
as that.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
They don't make it. That's pretty steep.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
You're right, Steve.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Hey, I mentioned how that whether I was out there
two days this week on boat test dot com. Sho,
I was out there Rivorty's great yachts and that really
cool weather, looking really snappy and great man anyway.

Speaker 25 (23:12):
Being great, he thought he looked into a mirror. Seriously,
you look in the mirror seriously there, Uh mister.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
This is a guy that likes his own posts.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
That's just so everyone knows, actually look at the mirror
quite often, just you know.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Okay, yeah, that is.

Speaker 25 (23:27):
That is how you get more people to look at it,
because when you post a like on it, your people
that follow you get to see it more. So that's
actually a marketing ployee.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
Okay, Joe, he called it a plus that I'm liking
my own post. Okay, it's a marketing I didn't know
that though.

Speaker 5 (23:46):
Hey, Joe, how many times have you liked your own post?

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Joe zero?

Speaker 5 (23:49):
Same here?

Speaker 6 (23:50):
Yeah, so you say I haven't gone back to check
but I may look at your string see whether you.

Speaker 5 (23:55):
Will make that mistake.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
I may look you you would, I just see if
you're telling me a fipsky. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
So wait, Alan, Uh, you're catching a lot of the
peacocks though, like during all these cold fronts.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Okay, yes, wow.

Speaker 25 (24:09):
Yes, actually actually had some very good counts on them.
And uh, what it is is the whole key is
finding with they school up more, they're actually in the
schools more this time of the year. For me, there's
a couple of ways to look for one of the bridges.
That always helps as I got people that can't really fish,
I control back and forth with the bag of Meno
b's and the uh rapaula x raps and and they

(24:31):
pick up the fish pretty darn good.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Now.

Speaker 25 (24:33):
Now, the other way is to find big mats. When
you find the mats on the edge of the match
is a good place to fish with spoons, little little
small spoons. You can pop them up and down and
the peacocks will come out from there. And of course
there's another way to catch them there too, but you
know I'm not going there.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Thank you very much saying that word. We appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
You So what Alan, what's your what's your go to
lore this time of year?

Speaker 26 (25:00):
Going for peacocks?

Speaker 27 (25:02):
Uh?

Speaker 25 (25:02):
The jerk baits and that's just one in particular. How
do you like the bag with no bees? But I'm
probably the only one still got them since they don't
produce him anymore. But but uh them and of course
Paula x raps regular floating ropouels will work as well.

Speaker 9 (25:19):
Uh.

Speaker 25 (25:19):
The problem with them is they're very pricey, and and
they they don't always operate, finding the lips like to
fall out. The other than that's a great you know,
it's the old story.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
But I'm gonna turn you onto a lure.

Speaker 28 (25:30):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
Tad's hand tied jigs. We've made some friendships on Instagram
and I said I would like to try his jigs
out hand tied on my dad. They're tied by hand,
which is very meticulously done. And I'm hooking with these
Tad's hand tied jigs.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
This is disgusting, out of control.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
Are you getting compensated for Joe's?

Speaker 3 (25:55):
In fact, Jo exactly.

Speaker 25 (26:00):
Getting going on here.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I will give you a couple of.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
You haven't even tried them yet, No, but.

Speaker 6 (26:05):
I just have researched that they're amazing. Anyway, we'll talk
about that.

Speaker 25 (26:10):
And then I'll give them a shot. But I do
like the like little crocodile spoons and stuff like that.
That stuff works well right up, but you got to
be right on the edge of the mats.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
Got you all right? Now we're going to rock the
clock man. But hey, I have a great day. Hope
you're feeling better. Hope those knees are healing up, but
real well, and you're actually both.

Speaker 25 (26:27):
They are real quick a little time, yeah, Alan, real quick.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
Snake heads, how you doing on that front?

Speaker 25 (26:34):
We've caught a couple okay, it's but we're not really
targeting them. I like to catch them on top order.
And the ones we have caought have been on the
Jork base below the surface. And one bait that has
I noticed worked fairly well from some people that came
down from up north is called a spy lure, okay,
which I've never heard of before, but it's got It's
like basically a piece of lead with two props, one

(26:56):
on each side, and you just cast and retrieve. It's
it's kind of a dummy proof lure and the large
mouth like it, and the snake heads seem to like it,
blow it and blow the surface. So that's that's the
way you're gonna catch him this time of the year
for the most part.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Okay, So it's dummy proof so Eric can use him.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Right Ah, so funny.

Speaker 25 (27:14):
That's another story. I don't know if that might not work.

Speaker 6 (27:16):
That might not work, Okay, right, uh a, Jimbo, have
a great weekend.

Speaker 25 (27:20):
Okay, Okay, Peter, you have a good.

Speaker 6 (27:25):
One too, you too, there, gesture, Okay, I have a
great day. Take it out, take a ever come back
with Wayne con the reward fishing fleet. What's Wayne been
pulling up with these massive uh he the iron Man tournaments, Joe,
they go it like for ten hours for a day.
It's gonna be just crazy great. That's a badass trip man.
Gotta be the iron Man to figure that one out, right, Yeah,
start my bucket coming up this hour, so much ahead,

(27:46):
we have Kat Hayley back at ten to late with
a brand new toy chest. Oh, I had said, I
have a preview last night. Really very cool. What a
great job you're done on that segment. I mean I
have photos every weekend. The toy chest opens up and
it's like a big surprise. Pops out much better than
Biden normal monotone crappy way to do it a year ago.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
I like when surprises pop out.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Oh no, no, I didn't mean that in a bad way.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
You're covering your spirit.

Speaker 6 (32:52):

Wayne?

Speaker 33 (32:57):
Hey, Hey, good morning. Welcome to the old folks edition.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Of Thank You Wayne.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
Yeah, buddy, he's got my man right on many.

Speaker 33 (33:09):
I'm at the age now, man, I'm just thankful to
wake up and everything hurts.

Speaker 6 (33:12):
Yeah, yeah, especially you work your butt off on these boats.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Man. It's not just an easy boat shelf, you you know.

Speaker 33 (33:22):
Down man, I got some really cool young.

Speaker 26 (33:25):
Guys that are just just love it.

Speaker 33 (33:26):
And that's you know, they got the passion, which is
something missing with a lot of folks today. And you know,
they go to work, they go home and they play
with their phones and that's it. But now, my guys
love the boats. We just got out spent two weeks
in the shipyard on our big boats, Saying and Peyton.
We ripped out a whole rudder system replaced it and
listen to good music the whole time, and it just
just had a great time.

Speaker 26 (33:45):
Got the boat back last night.

Speaker 33 (33:46):
Coast Guard inspections that they love us to death, and nice, Nice.

Speaker 7 (33:50):
Wayne, Wayne, Wayne, What is what is good music for you?
I just like to know what's your flavor of good music?

Speaker 33 (33:55):
But I guess, well, listen. I graduated nineteen sixty seven
from North Miami. I was at the was at the
forefront of rock, and you know what, it's still it's
what I really like to listen to everything up between
that and up to hard rock.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
I like you good classic classic rock. Yeah.

Speaker 33 (34:11):
My dad, my dad was a country western singer in
Renfro Valley and he had his own radio show in
the in the outstanding town of paint Lick, Kentucky.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
I think.

Speaker 26 (34:24):
Paint Lick, paint Lick.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 26 (34:27):
He's a guitar player.

Speaker 33 (34:28):
And and anyways sang in Renfro Valley.

Speaker 26 (34:32):
So I like a little bit of that too, a
little bit of bluegrass cool stuff.

Speaker 6 (34:35):
So yeah, let's get back on point over and talk
about what kind of fishy being on the reward over.

Speaker 26 (34:40):
I don't know if anybody else has noticed this. I
don't anybody's noticed this.

Speaker 33 (34:43):
And we've had a real winter kind of you know,
we've had a lot of quick ones swapping and switching
and all that cool stuff, man, And I think it
keeps people at home, fell in their reels and just
watching YouTube videos, you know, is what ends up happening,
especially if they're off shot fish. But we haven't had
we we've had since Christmas Eve. We've had some really
good trips. We've had nice, nice catches at Dolphin and

(35:04):
that wind would blow from the northeast a little bit.
There's nothing wrong with wintertime for dolphins. A lot of
times people don't put their heads into it, but even
the guys will be sail fishing on the edge. Sometimes
you just got to get out three or four or
five hundred feet a little deeper and take a look
around out there, especially you know, any of the edges
and weed lines and stuff like that. But yeah, we've
caught several really nice dolphins. We're still little kings around,

(35:27):
which is kind of cool. And mutton snappers have started
showing up. And you know, this time of the year
is the water cools. They'll get up in real, real
shallow water. I've I talked to a couple of guys
who were catching them down off soldiers Key in like
twelve fourteen foot of water, really nice muttons, And you know,
it's a great time of the year for that real
shallow water fishing down by Stilts Fiddle and all that,

(35:48):
all those little cool.

Speaker 26 (35:48):
Little channels and stuff.

Speaker 33 (35:50):
Depends on the kind of boat you got, you know,
but trying to get out of the seas, you know,
get out of that three to eight foot stuff, unless
it's unless it's what you really want to do.

Speaker 26 (35:58):
Some people really like it.

Speaker 6 (36:00):
Colverbal Battle of Jimbo Thomas was warning about why he
gets saw happy and giddy when his clients are catching
amberjacks of all things.

Speaker 26 (36:07):
Sure always, man.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Are you a big fan of those on your boat?

Speaker 26 (36:11):
Of course, of course, I see.

Speaker 33 (36:13):
Of course, though I've caught, I have caught well, it
doesn't matter, but yes, of course, of course. And I
even did a little commercial fishing for him thirty five
to forty years ago.

Speaker 26 (36:22):
Pretty crazy, man, Who.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
The hell.

Speaker 6 (36:26):
If you commercial amberjack? Where would they go to the fishmonger?
I mean, who would take those off your hands?

Speaker 33 (36:32):
Well, let let me let the process. The process is,
you go catch a hundred pinfish I had. I had
two hydraulic reels on my boat and these things were
driven off the engine a hydraulic pump. And by myself, wow,
I could go catch one hundred. I could go catch
one hundred pinfish down towards Siltsville. Had head down to

(36:53):
one of the county wrecks. This is almost forty years ago.
You got to realize too, and by myself put fifty
ambriage exend the boat, be back to dog by three o'clock.

Speaker 6 (37:04):
I want to know where those amberjacks went when you
dumped them off with a fishmonger.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Did they go? They go to a restaurant renamed Brazilian
Sea Bass.

Speaker 33 (37:13):
Or what the something missing? Something missing from South Florida
and it was around four Ever is a place where
folks could take their family and go behind the boats
when the boats came in and buy a fresh fish
and take it home and eat it. Because that's what
we did out of downtown Miami before Bayside was in place.
And it was a wonderful thing because the community loved it.

(37:33):
They come down and see what we caught. Hey buy
a fish? How much is this? It's always you know,
it's let's.

Speaker 26 (37:37):
Make a deal. You can eliminated middle guy.

Speaker 6 (37:40):
But don't answer the question that Wayne, I want to
know where there's Amberjack went where they for table fare
or where were they going?

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Man, it's a secret.

Speaker 34 (37:48):
No, they're table fair, table fair man. Oh, he says
the table fair. Joe, absolutely a tablefair. I'm glad that
every invited me over for a cookout there I would
have to pass.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
Hey, do you want some snappers with those in the worms?

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Okay? And the ajs have a great time, you.

Speaker 33 (38:04):
Know, Jay, Hey, listen, bro it's all proteins, it's all protein.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
Man, come on, all right, we're gonna wrap it up here.

Speaker 6 (38:11):

of cool little videos. You should have to take the

Speaker 5 (39:40):
Him, buddy good good sir.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Man, it's weird.

Speaker 6 (39:49):
Jim, hang up your phone. We're gonna reconnect, okay. Or

maybe had his voice.

Speaker 5 (40:05):
Will he's gone silly.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Could have happened correct.

Speaker 6 (40:08):
As well, So it could be anatomically incorrect, could be both,
could be a really just a really beat up guy,
you know whatever. We'll see he's answering his quote anyway.
I can't fathom diving and this kind of stuff. But
I did see those guy's head post. You went there
was ninety mil what suit which is thicker than walrs
hide and went down there and and dove.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
Hey, I've been hearing lots of hog fish.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
I don't know if they're in season, but they're seeing
them big ones.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
I think they're closed.

Speaker 8 (40:38):
There's a ton. There's a ton of hawk fish.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
Boys your voice. How about that?

Speaker 8 (40:43):
I'm here, I'm here, I'm here and not just not
just a ton of hawk fish, nice ones, big ones.
The only problem is you can't touch them. You can
look at him.

Speaker 6 (40:54):
Maybe, thank God, I'm telling you know something.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Thank God?

Speaker 8 (40:59):
Well, well, yes, the reason why talk to each other restriction?
They doilish email fish text.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Okay, Joe, don't the group do the same they call
each other.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
Yeah, you know how it goes, group group of scott
They telepathically to each other that the season's closed, okay,
or whatever the case might be.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Anyway, it's a jem back to you, buddy, Go ahead, man,
what's going on?

Speaker 8 (41:27):
Thank you? Listen, if you can get past the chili
chili water, it's seventy four minus whatever underneath there, but
crystal clear visibility, very very mild currents. And uh, we
do have a good story. We have a good story.

Speaker 2 (41:45):
Making sure.

Speaker 8 (41:45):
We're cruising along the reef, Susie and I and we're
down off a lot of now by the sea and
got a little secret spot kind of cut out in
the reef. This reef edge is around five six foot high,
real pretty. And then I know as we continue going
north there's sort of a little cutout in the reef
and it's very fishy and he's usually some lobsters, so

(42:08):
not bad. As I approach, I see one lobster right
at the entrance. I grab it. Susie then sees two
and she's starting to work those two. One's kind of small,
you can tell, but the other one's good size and
longb Hal here comes the six foot green moray Eel right,

(42:29):
ad her, Oh yeah, buddy, I'm talking. Well, here's the thing.
I mean, you know, we were taking his dinner. I
mean that was the deal. You know, he had it
all set up lunch, dinner and everything and an appetizer.
So I literally had to take my spear gun with
my tip of my spirit down and defend and defend

(42:52):
my buddy. No no, I had to gently put it
into his mouth as he's coming out brain hole perfect, no, no, no, no, no,
no brain hole, no brain hole. But but you know,
I just I just put the tip in, Eric, just
the tip in and pushed him.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Out of the way so you.

Speaker 5 (43:16):
Could could messed her up.

Speaker 8 (43:21):
I've had many, many, many eel stories. Yes, And what
happens is they shred you. Their teeth go in the
opposite direction. So when we grab hold of you and
they pull ouch ouch, Yeah, they shred you. Basically, they
shred you, and it's not good. We've had yep, yeah,
they've they've taken fish from us. I've seen a lobster

(43:45):
getting eaten by a more ray eel. So the good
news is we saved Susie and the lobsters. Then she
goes over and there's one more up top of of
this edge. So she goes up to the top.

Speaker 16 (44:00):
There.

Speaker 8 (44:01):
I'll be posting a video here pretty soon on my
GP crew YouTube channel. There it's coming, okay, so grab hold.
She grabs hold of the one up the top, and
here comes I mean, now this guy is pissed off, right,
so he then starts heading up towards her. She doesn't
realize he comes up this crevice right almost grabbing the

(44:22):
lobster in her hand. Holy smokes, I go, I go,
because you can't talk underwater. You know, all you can
do is make grunting noises and.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Away. Okay, that's kind of girlish.

Speaker 8 (44:41):
He's a girl.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
Behind closed doors there. Man with Jim Mathew Guy Jim.

Speaker 8 (44:54):
So the condition has been great, really good if you
can get past the chili chili under water seventy four
degrees great conditions limited. Now all you can do is
get lobsters. But listen, middle of January, we're still getting
our limited lobster. I go three days this week, three limits,
so we're we're hitting it. You know, it's going okay,

(45:15):
but no hawk fish, no grouper, So it's uh slim pickings,
big muttons. So you've seen some big muttons. Were just
they're tough, man. They really keep their distance. So that's
the only thing from a spear fishing standpoint.

Speaker 6 (45:30):
All right, Jimmy, to have a great weekend, buddy, great
report and they oh.

Speaker 8 (45:34):

Speaker 28 (55:51):
Everything anything from new boats, murders to use stuff to
random stuff, sunglasses, hats, t shirts, all kinds of fishing gear.
It's it's a good time. If you've never been Eric,

Those and your bleeding videos, which I never really understand.
I don't.

Speaker 28 (56:55):
Don't worry. We'll get there in a few years. Your
skin just gets worn out.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
And that happens that when you're like there you go.
Are you going to go to the old thing?

Speaker 9 (57:03):
Though?

Speaker 26 (57:04):
No? Try that.

Speaker 4 (57:06):
Let me Joe mean you, I mean you're ninety. I
just meant when you come back. You know when someone
becomes ninety.

Speaker 2 (57:13):
Yeah, okay, that's what happened in ninety years. Okay, big dog. Anyway, Sean,

whole lot, and uh, you're just a man with a plan, dudes,
So do it bro.

Speaker 4 (57:30):
Real quick, quick. Got sewn any wahoo in Papo being
caught at all?

Speaker 28 (57:34):
There was a few caught yesterday, but it wasn't like,
oh my god, great bite, you know. Okay, I heard
of like three or four thought, But for the most part,
the general conversation around town is did you get a
bite this week? Did you catch a fish this week?
I Mean, it's that slow And the answer is what
one oh I caught. I caught a fish yesterday. Some
people were like, I had a bite, didn't land anything.

(57:56):
I mean, it's that bad.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
But he got one Mahi joe.

Speaker 6 (58:00):
You know, he really missed his favorite fish and amberjack
would have been a way to finish his day off
really good. Because we've talked about it all morning, Sean,
how much I'm not a fan of it, and they're
all saying, I.

Speaker 28 (58:10):
Am not a fantom. I cannot bring myself past the
worms and I cannot do it.

Speaker 2 (58:14):
See Joe, there you go, another guy that would touch one.

Speaker 3 (58:18):
I mean, look like listen, so Dagan Alexander said, humble
yourself out there in the Philippines, we eat what we catch.
Everything can be served with proper methods, which I totally
agree with that, but a lot again.

Speaker 28 (58:33):
Just like eating benita or catfish.

Speaker 2 (58:35):
You can do it.

Speaker 28 (58:37):
But the bottom line is we catch enough quality fish
here we don't have to do it exactly.

Speaker 3 (58:42):
And that's why I believe we should release them, you know,
and not kill them just toy.

Speaker 6 (58:47):
Don't you put some some ballet who on a skewer jelly?
But we are a nice hot grill is sellows tastes,
but I will say.

Speaker 4 (58:53):
Once again, I said this in the beginning.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
We are spoiled. I feel like here, yes, yeah, we are.

Speaker 4 (58:58):
You know, but that you know it?

Speaker 28 (59:00):
Well, you go to a Chinese restaurant and you get fish,
you're gogglizing blue runners by mind.

Speaker 6 (59:06):
He's probably right, yeah, yeah, like I do sushi at
a restaurant. What's that mysterious whitefish? Which does not look
like salmon or snapper or anything else? It is this
mysterious one mushy whitefish?

Speaker 2 (59:19):
What is that? I probably it's probably Have you.

Speaker 28 (59:24):
Ever been to a pier or jetty? You'll find out
what you're eating.

Speaker 2 (59:28):
He's making a sense of appetizing.

Speaker 4 (59:30):
I bet you a lot of it. Are are the
blue runners? I see?

Speaker 2 (59:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (59:36):
Buckets?

Speaker 6 (59:37):
Oh, I was talking about cooking food. Debdale on the
stream just goes right there. She goes, Bally, who are great?

Speaker 2 (59:43):
Fresh? She would eat a Bally?

Speaker 27 (59:46):
Who?

Speaker 4 (59:47):
I would try it? What I would try it?

Speaker 2 (59:50):
Bally?

Speaker 4 (59:50):
Who? They look clean?

Speaker 2 (59:52):
I've cut them up for bait. Man, they're just skanky
and nasty.

Speaker 4 (59:55):
Inside man, No, if you look inside, they're kind of
like a white.

Speaker 2 (59:58):

Tell me how good they were Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:00:02):

at the palace of Stephen J. GRAYTNY rain clouds that way.

Speaker 28 (01:00:15):

But uh hey, I'll get you guys some bait. You
can do a cook off next week and have a
good weekend. I'll talk to you.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):

Fisherman Show, first couple of shows of twenty twenty five.
As Steven Jay Grant luded Chu coming up on Monday.
What a big day that's gonna be?

Speaker 4 (01:05:28):
Man, Yes, it is.

Speaker 6 (01:05:29):
It's MLK Day, which is a worthy holiday. Knowledge great
man that he was. But another great man is going
to be in the big seat Monday, and I can't
wait to see that whole day and all those turncoats
and knuckleheads who won't be showing up at its inauguration.
There's a rude and lude and woke. I might add

(01:05:52):
woke is over, ben Nicker, Great, we woke is killed?
Man Nicker Great, it's just ended.

Speaker 5 (01:05:59):
Hey, talk about rude. You remember last week this sky
what's his name?

Speaker 6 (01:06:05):
Oh yeah, Betty, I must say Pop Pops, the Joe Hacker.
We put together one funny ass TikTok video which I've
watched two or three times.

Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
It was so great.

Speaker 6 (01:06:18):
How many times Benny just found ways that diss those
dolphins ban just the right moment. It was banging funny man.

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
He got you, guys, So they can find that were
an extreme kayak fit. What's your what's your what's your handle?
On TikTok? Where do they find you?

Speaker 5 (01:06:31):
It's got like a million of them on TikTok.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Where do they find that video? They will watch it?

Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
Oh, extreme kaykfishing, That's what I want to ask.

Speaker 6 (01:06:37):
Yeah, So he's back in the hot seat, Benny Betty's
fishing charters.

Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
Good morning, Bro's up?

Speaker 26 (01:06:44):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
Guys? What's up? Did you see the talk this week?

Speaker 6 (01:06:47):
So s you that piece that Joe put together with
you knocking to finish the nineteen times last weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
That was great. Yeah, that was That was a good one.

Speaker 5 (01:06:54):
What do you mean, no football talk?

Speaker 7 (01:06:55):
The real teams are playing this weekend, the ones that
are going to the Super Bowl, somebody.

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
That's why we can't talk, all right, we can talk
about them.

Speaker 6 (01:07:04):
About our teams that are struggling and dying by the way,
So no football chat, Joe. Sorry, man, Yeah, we can't
even allude to it.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Bad. It's worth bringing up.

Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
Well, Benny, how do you feel about eating aj because
that's been the talk.

Speaker 27 (01:07:17):
Yeah, yeah, I wasn't listening so far this morning. I'm
not a big fan. I tell my customers I don't
recommend it. I'm not big on like cutting up in
the fish and seeing.

Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
All the worms in there.

Speaker 6 (01:07:31):
He just already said them as suppose to Jimbo saying
to his clients, Oh, take that fish home, it's great eats.

Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
He just said.

Speaker 6 (01:07:38):
He warns his people don't take him home and eat
the worms, and it's not worth a day.

Speaker 27 (01:07:44):
I mean, if it's the only thing we caught for
the day, I'll maybe exaggerate and say like, oh it's
not bad.

Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Yeah, just put a lot of sauce on it.

Speaker 27 (01:07:54):
Man, just scraped out all the worms eat separate.

Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Yeah, yeah, those worms side disher joy?

Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
Is there that many worms inside of them?

Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
I've flayed a few of them. Sometimes.

Speaker 27 (01:08:04):
Yes, Sometimes you look at the file at and there's
it's nasty, there's worms.

Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Sometimes it's clean.

Speaker 6 (01:08:09):
You get one or two, you know, right, have you seen?
Have you've seen worms better than fish is flesh? It's
just a worse, nasty, nasty God is disgusting man. Anyway,
Off for that happy topic. I don't know aj is
being served of the Benny family household. Uh, it's pretty
a nippy this week. Benny, I was out a couple
of days this week on a bottest dot com video
shoot him my head.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
I mention that to you earlier. Yeah. Uh so what's
been biting man? Any good? Yes?

Speaker 27 (01:08:35):
I mean, you know, as opposed to the bite being
slow and having a conversation about everything being slow the
past couple of weeks, it still has been a little slow.

Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
But we picked out a lot of great quality fish
this week.

Speaker 27 (01:08:48):
Captain Tyler got a nice twenty pound bull mahi, so
that was one of the highlights of the week, along
with a couple of sailfish, a few wahoo.

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Here and there.

Speaker 27 (01:08:58):
So it's been slow pickings, but all great quality fish.
That's one thing I tell customers this time of the year,
when I give them a heads up that it's slow,
I say, when we do hook up, it's usually a
great quality fish, usually really good eating fish, or usually
something real nice you might want to put on your
wall back at home, so you know it's going to
be something good, and try to keep them patient, knowing

(01:09:18):
that even if we only catch a few fish per trip,
there'll be some good quality ones when we hook up.

Speaker 6 (01:09:23):
You know, you know, Betty, what it gets a really
slow and a top pelagic's not really biting so hard.
Do you guys ever go to the technic? I always fly,
tried true, that's dropped out, a baked to the bottom,
some life beta even dropped out of some damn shrimp. Joe,
everything's a shrip. Ever, do you ever just resort to
the bottom bite and try that over a reef or
a wreck or something or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Yeah, Yeah, we do a lot.

Speaker 27 (01:09:44):
I mean, uh, shrimp is probably more of like a
keys thing.

Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
We're here.

Speaker 27 (01:09:48):
It's a little tougher. A lot of our fishing's going
to be a little deeper where that shrimp might not
even make it all the way to the bottom. But
you know, pieces of cut bonita squid, you know fresh
valley who fresh sardines. There's a lot of different things
we could use when it comes to bottom fishing. But yeah,
I mean I use it as a backup plan a
lot when I'm out there. Some of my guys want

(01:10:10):
to go bigger, go home. They don't want to target
those small fish on the bottom. We could go tell
someone they could go on the drift boat and target
those same fish. But I find over the years I
put people on the bottom, put a rod in their hand, yeah,
get that rob bending over and get them real and
something in and they'll look up at you and say, man,
we would have been happy doing this the whole time.

(01:10:30):
And now they're catching eight ounced fish when you were
targeting twenty pound fish, and they're having just as much fun.
So it's not about our expectations, it's about the customer's expectations.

Speaker 6 (01:10:41):
And a couple of caps of allutlet to joke, you
have a guy coming out of I don't know, Tennessee
or Wisconsin or used to catch you small little speckled
whatever and they come down it. Like I said, I'll
give AJ's props here and AJ could say the day
because it'll ben that rod and bend your back and
just knock you out out of your socks.

Speaker 5 (01:10:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
So some of those fish are we kind of boohoo
and poopoo run here. Yeah, those but.

Speaker 6 (01:11:03):
Man, they're great fighters. Man, I can't knock him maybe enough,
but he is a tough ass pulling fish.

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Yeah, they are a great fight they are.

Speaker 9 (01:11:10):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:11:11):

Speaker 9 (01:13:33):

Speaker 5 (01:20:41):
He loves the Brae he is.

Speaker 6 (01:20:43):
Yeah, yeah, he does not love the Raiders. Judges, so
you know, okay, this is part of your lyrical singaalogue, Derek. Okay,
I hope you didn't hear that, as probably did Captain
Norm Beckhoff.

Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Good one to my friend of the finest kind. Hey, Nor,
how's it going well?

Speaker 41 (01:21:03):
Joe?

Speaker 25 (01:21:04):
It seems you have forgotten about our bet that we made.

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Right here, break show, remind him? Remind of Norm? Go ahead,
go ahead, man, remind you please.

Speaker 42 (01:21:21):
And and for those of you who need a refresher
course on what this bet was, Joseph and I agreed
that whoever had whoever, whoever had the worst regular season
record would have to wear the others. Deer Rember, your

(01:21:45):
your pathetic Raiders a measly four games. My Whitey Dolphins
won a eight game. That means, Joseph, you should be
wearing Dolphins here today.

Speaker 25 (01:22:02):
For the reason you're not.

Speaker 2 (01:22:05):
Wow, norm just called you to the table.

Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
Actually the wait wait he called you wait Norm Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:22:13):
Actually Steven gave me a jacket when it was really
cold that day, and it was a Miami Dolphin's jacket
and I.

Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Wore it for the whole show.

Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:22:25):
Problem was the logo was on the back and they
could see it. Joe, Okay, well I wore it wasn't
on the front of the jet.

Speaker 4 (01:22:31):
I wore it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
Whatever. You just barely escaped Normo's wrath. Okay, I will.

Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
Wear something if if you guys give me something to wear,
but it has to be silver a right, Norm.

Speaker 6 (01:22:41):
I'm glad you call you called himbout. I've given you
props that thanks very much for that.

Speaker 4 (01:22:45):
Okay, No, are you kidding me?

Speaker 6 (01:22:48):
Look, Stephen, Stephen j Gray just brought out it, brought
out a Dolphins shirt for Joe to wear out of set.

Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
Just now, there you go, Joey, all right, this is
for you. Put on there.

Speaker 43 (01:23:01):
I want to see you sporting the piss out of
those colored.

Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Night Now, how about the fish news man, what's going on? Dude?

Speaker 43 (01:23:11):
Well, I mean, Joe's excuse was about as weak as
a fishing.

Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
Okay, wow, look I'm wearing it.

Speaker 44 (01:23:19):
Norm That was about as weak as the fishing was
in Broward this week. Okay, okay, got that long story short.

Speaker 43 (01:23:31):
The fishing Embroward was only just a touch better than
it was last week. There were a few black then tunas,
a few.

Speaker 26 (01:23:44):
A few mais not much.

Speaker 45 (01:23:47):
My suggestion is, if you are heading out this weekend,
then you should have a plan A, a plan B,
and a plan CE because that's what most guys had
to do to put some fish in the boat. So
you know, I'd start out trolling first thing in the morning,
try to get that wahoo, and you probably won't catch one,

(01:24:09):
but if you do, congratulations. I'd go to live baiting
pretty quick, try and get that black bentuna, and then
when that utterly fails, then you should probably be ready
at the bottom. There are some ver million snappers, some
golden golden tiles being caught these funtons. So, like I said,
have a plan A, a plan B and a plant.

Speaker 6 (01:24:32):
There you go, man, there you go. Well, enormous, really great.
You called out Joe the bet your head, which I
find to be really great. Joe's actually worrying half a dolphin.

Speaker 4 (01:24:40):
Shirt I'm wearing it.

Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
I have the logo here half it on whatever.

Speaker 6 (01:24:45):
But anyway, thank you Norm for bringing a strong man
as always, Buddy, Thanks again. We we love in the
program and you are the man, dude. But the kind
run that dog, say it, run a dog. Let's gonna
see what Johnny Sibil is doing, Shalley Toney. Johnny used
to build a man. I wonder if Johnny's out this
stuff in there, Johnny. I don't know if he's fishing

(01:25:06):
right now, but we'll find out, shall we. Let's do it, Johnny,
what's up, buddy?

Speaker 41 (01:25:10):
Oh you know, I'm not fishing. I'm actually out of
commission for the next probably fifteen days or ten days
at least. I got I got a few stitches in
my arm, and I'm just taking a break from fishing.
With all that going on, I have heard some good reports.
I did my homework for you guys.

Speaker 25 (01:25:31):
The fishing has been pretty terrible.

Speaker 41 (01:25:32):
So luckily I'm not missing anything. And if you're not
going to be going out, any of our listeners not
gonna be going out fishing today.

Speaker 4 (01:25:42):
I'm down to the.

Speaker 41 (01:25:44):
Nautical fla market down in Pompino Beach. It's the whatever
Lighthouse point one and my fiance's got a booth so
you guys can come check us out. She does all
kinds of cool stuff if you're not going to.

Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Be on the water.

Speaker 41 (01:25:57):
But the fishing was pretty not great this week. For
a lack of better terms. Everybody I spoke to just
had a mediocre day at best. And that's what you
get in the wintertime. You know, you get those those
mediocre days and you just kind of have to suck
it up and deal with it sometimes unfortunately. But hopefully

(01:26:17):
as we get closer in the spring, we're going to see,
you know, more consistent water temperatures. That's really what it's
all about, is consistency. And you know, once once we
get kind of back to that norm, then you know
we should be back in the meat, as they say.
But wouldn't waste your time today, even though it is

(01:26:39):
warmer today than it was yesterday. That nasty prefront that
came through the last was yesterday the day before, So
I would probably stay off the water today and and
come to the Nautical Flea Market and come.

Speaker 4 (01:26:51):
Have a beer with me.

Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
Johnny, question you never answered, why do you have fifteen
stitches in your farm?

Speaker 26 (01:26:56):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:26:57):
What's going on, dude, Captain Hook.

Speaker 41 (01:26:58):
So I was loading my boat on the trailer and
it was two am. I just got done tarp and
fishing down to Miami, which was also pretty mediocre. And
I was loading my boat at the end of the
day and the boat ramps down there are so slick
because it's low tide, and I I just slipped when

(01:27:20):
I was getting off the trailer and I fell right
to the ground and bucked my elbow open. So you know,
it's not really the most amount of fun to be
laid up, but you know, getting out and about today,
like I said, and I hope to have a pretty
good day down here at the Nautical Sling Mark.

Speaker 7 (01:27:39):
Now, for those who don't know, last time Johnny heard
himself with a hook into the face, he made a
video of it and then posted it and said, don't
forget his website and everything that you didn't do the
same with the arm here.

Speaker 41 (01:27:51):
Did you think now, I didn't do that this time?
I didn't do that. This time. I was in too
much pain. I actually was down in Miami at two
in the morning, and uh, you know, had somebody at
the boat ramp tape it up for me and I
rushed home and went to the emergency room to.

Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
Get Oh man, just so long.

Speaker 6 (01:28:14):
These things happen to the best of all of us,
especially the pros like Johnny. I mean, if you guys
are on a ramp, Joe, you've been at a ramp before.
Oh yeah, you gotta watch your step because the algae
you can't.

Speaker 5 (01:28:23):
Really see the man, it's an ice skating ring.

Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
It is just so wicked nasty. Man.

Speaker 6 (01:28:28):
You could just take a bad tumble like Johnny did
and really get hurt, man, I mean big time.

Speaker 3 (01:28:33):
And the problem is you're out of slope, so when
you slip like you can't really help yourself. You just
kind of go down yep, and then there's nothing you
can do. There's barnacles, there's shells, and you're slicing yourself up.

Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
In a daytime, you have two things. You get hurt
and you get embarrassed.

Speaker 6 (01:28:47):
Okay, you hope nobody's gotta cared it at two am, yeah,
two and it'll probably spotted it. But you're at daytime,
you're somebody with a camera on you. You probably see
yourself little web later on tumbling and cracking up with
your elbow.

Speaker 9 (01:28:57):
Whatever.

Speaker 41 (01:28:58):
Yeah, Johnny actually you know, I'm actually glad there was
somebody there they you know. I walked up to him.
The first thing I said, I said, hey, buddy, are
you squeamish? And he's like, no, what's up?

Speaker 4 (01:29:09):
So I said, well, squeamish, if you don't mind, I.

Speaker 41 (01:29:12):
Could use a little a little tape up here so
I can I can run up to Pompino Beats and
get some stitches. And he was nice enough to help me.
You know, in the morning, luckily nobody saw me.

Speaker 6 (01:29:24):
This reminds me of to think Steven just brought up
by the hook of the lip or the cheek rather. Yeah,
when he got the thing hooked at his face, he
just flagged down some passing vehicle right, say hey, man,
could you come over and help me pull this hook
out of my face?

Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:29:38):
And the guy hooks it, puts a piece of model
something through the hook and on a one, two, three
yanks out of Johnny's face. Every time you see Johnny Dale,
he said, be like, either hey, could you help me
pull this gaff out of my knee or something?

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Because Johnny wants to bother you to help him out.
Because something just happened. I passed out.

Speaker 4 (01:29:59):
I'm a passer out not you know, I'm.

Speaker 41 (01:30:01):
Not typically injury prone, but lately yeah, yeah, anyway, all right.

Speaker 5 (01:30:06):
We're glad you're okay, Johnny.

Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
Hey you caught some tarpain though.

Speaker 41 (01:30:10):
Right, Yeah, the tartin fishing is actually like pretty good.
You know, that night it wasn't very good. But I've
been a few times the season already and the tarba
fishing has been off the chain. I mean, it's been
really good. So if you're gonna do something, go tarpin fishing.

Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
Cool. Alright, before you go, where's your booths with your girl? Lady?
Where you got Laura?

Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
Laura Laura?

Speaker 41 (01:30:31):
We are right right next to the food court over here.
Her business is real crafty customers. She does all kinds
of cool laser and grapes, cups and uh wallets and coasters.
She does a bunch of stuff. She's very talented and
she's very crafty. So and I'll be here all day.
If you guys want to come talk fishing.

Speaker 5 (01:30:51):
That's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Hunt down Johnny at the flea marketing.

Speaker 4 (01:30:55):
I'm gonna be there.

Speaker 6 (01:30:56):
I gonna go chat with the man because Johnny has
got some serious You have a question for Johnny, I
bet he can talk you about it all day long.

Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
Oh man, So john to take care of the album.

Speaker 9 (01:31:05):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
I hope you heal up real well, buddy boy, and
have a great time with a wife. And I'll see
you over there. Tear it up, man.

Speaker 41 (01:31:10):
Okay, thank you guys, We'll see you soon.

Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
Take a little break. Wep.

Speaker 6 (01:31:13):

Nippy Nippy.

Speaker 6 (01:35:33):
At Atlanta, you boy, they had an Atlanta boat show
show and it was so bad with snow, yeah that
people could not attend the show for four days.

Speaker 8 (01:35:47):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
They couldn't actually get to the arena in Atlanta.

Speaker 5 (01:35:50):
In Atlanta should have been a snowmobile show.

Speaker 6 (01:35:52):
That's nuts, Jen, How are you? First of all, good
morning to you, hi, Jen. And so we there's a
boat show, big boat show. They'd let a boat show
was going on, and I got word from a buddy
of mine that it was so bad the snow was
so thick.

Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
Nobody could actually get to the damn show.

Speaker 4 (01:36:11):
Oh yeah, was it last weekend?

Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
Yep? Last weekend? Yeah? Sure was yep?

Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
Yep, yeah, yep.

Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
I believe it.

Speaker 4 (01:36:18):
Nobody was going anywhere a.

Speaker 6 (01:36:19):
Lost weekain because vendors spent a lot of money, Jen,
like maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars to have boosts
there and to go there for fun. Actually, the show
management team would not cancel the show because they want
to get paid, of course, so they had an empty
arena man for four days with nobody who could ever
make the show.

Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
Were so mad, Oh disappointed? Mad They left mad because
they just dropped a lot of chee chy and got
nothing out.

Speaker 8 (01:36:48):
Canceled it and.

Speaker 48 (01:36:49):
Either postponed it or giving them their money back.

Speaker 6 (01:36:51):
Oh no, no, these these boat show people, Jen, they
canceled for no reason. Man, They want their money, Honey.

Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
I like that anyway.

Speaker 48 (01:37:00):
Experienced in Atlanta snow day before.

Speaker 6 (01:37:02):
I guess not down here, it's spending. We had a
couple of cold days this week. I was on the
water with a few couple of days doing Botest dot
com video shoots. I met that to you, Joe anyway, Michelle,
A couple of only cold days. But today's kind of overcast.
It looks like we had some rain for overnight. Joy
A little bit right, A poured nor right. Yeah, So
what do you think, Jen, what's happening with this thing?

Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
We go on? It's warm?

Speaker 48 (01:37:24):
Yeah, it is gonna be a little bit warmer this
weekend compared to last. You have a twenty percent chance
of showers today partly sunnay hive seventy nine. It will
be breezy with the south winds about fifteen to twenty
gusts and twenty five sees two to four feet occasionally
five inner coastal waters and modern chop Tomorrow mostly sunny
high in your eighty southwest winds ten to fifteen a
sept to twenty see two to three feet inner coastal

(01:37:47):
water is a light chop in the key is today
twenty percent chance of showers mostly Sunday hin your seventy
eight south southwest winds ten to fifteen sees two to
four feet occasionally five near shore waters and modern light
to moderate chop. Tomorrow with the keys light chaser showers
mostly sunny higher eighty south southwest winds ten to fifteen
not sees one to two feet near shore waters a

(01:38:08):
light to moderate chop. And at Florida Bay today, south
winds ten to fifteen. Baywaters a light to moderate chot
with isolated showers, and tomorrow south southwest winds ten. They're
coming southwest to west late in the day. Baywater's a
light chop, isolated showers.

Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
Not too shabby.

Speaker 4 (01:38:26):
Jen, is there?

Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
Jen?

Speaker 3 (01:38:28):
Is there a big cold front coming next week, like
a really really cold one, because that's when they keep going.

Speaker 2 (01:38:33):
Yeah, but she sounded like evil. She sounded like evil
with them, Yeah, yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 48 (01:38:43):
When you so cold next week, like coldest temperatures of
the season.

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
Are you serious?

Speaker 9 (01:38:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
What one day? One day?

Speaker 48 (01:38:52):
I don't even think you guys are going to get
up to seventy next Wednesday?

Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
What is this supposed to hit? How soon.

Speaker 41 (01:39:01):
It hits you, guys?

Speaker 48 (01:39:04):
It looks like it hits you guys almost Monday into Tuesday.
Kind of stalls out and then your temperatures really fall Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

Speaker 5 (01:39:12):
Like how cold at night?

Speaker 40 (01:39:16):
Probably not, I mean not super cold.

Speaker 26 (01:39:18):
You'll probably be down in the fifties.

Speaker 5 (01:39:20):
Oh that's not too bad. Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:39:22):
I thought she's about like thirties or something.

Speaker 9 (01:39:24):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:39:24):
Yeah, but still, anyway, it's gonna snow in Miami again.

Speaker 24 (01:39:29):
What's that?

Speaker 5 (01:39:30):
Well, it's snow in Miami again. Remember that I was.

Speaker 2 (01:39:32):
Around back then.

Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Yeah, yeah, anyway, I remember we're not in snow territory now.

Speaker 6 (01:39:38):
All right, before you go, Jen, when's the return of
Destination Dive on Discovery Channel?

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
Is the coming back August? August? Okay? Because you know,
I know the exact.

Speaker 6 (01:39:47):
Dive, the exact time, exact channel, the exact place to
find that show now, and I'll be standing by for
the various because she dives.

Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
It's a really great places man. Okay. Kind of a
funny thought.

Speaker 6 (01:40:01):
What if they actually teamed up Gordon Ramsey with Jen
h on a dive together? Can you imagine just how
bad that would be? I love because Gordon Ramsey's got
a really foul ass mouth.

Speaker 2 (01:40:12):
Okay, he's a He's a nasty white guy.

Speaker 6 (01:40:19):
I think Jake can handle herself very well anyway, Jed,
thanks so much for the warning about the weather.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
Thanks for checking in. Have a great weekend. Okay, kidd,
all right, let's go to the keys, Joey, let's do it.
She caught a big ass.

Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
It was a hand or hold her way out there
kind of de leo.

Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
Did you get that personal text?

Speaker 9 (01:40:42):
I did?

Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
Yeah, got all right. I thought it was just me
come on to Captain Devon.

Speaker 44 (01:40:48):
Ye.

Speaker 9 (01:40:48):
How boys?

Speaker 46 (01:40:49):
Has it going?

Speaker 6 (01:40:50):
It's going great? Talking fishing every Saturday morning. Can't be
a bad day. Uh that wallhoo will look pretty massive,
I mean not bad, kid, talk about it.

Speaker 46 (01:41:00):
Yeah, that was a nice one. We hung a forty
five pounder that day. And you know I'm here and
probably make some people mad right now, but I might
do it anyway.

Speaker 5 (01:41:10):
We was showing the video of it online.

Speaker 2 (01:41:12):
It belongs to the show You're Trust.

Speaker 46 (01:41:15):
Yeah, I'm screaming. I'm screaming.

Speaker 9 (01:41:16):
That's me.

Speaker 46 (01:41:17):
That's what I do. So I get a little excited
when I get to tease a fish with not candy,
but as as with artificial oh wait dead.

Speaker 3 (01:41:28):
Wait wait wait wait old on nineteen twenty, I'm not.

Speaker 6 (01:41:34):
Gonna say nothing about the dance che scral mummy jaw
that I got, the party of grinder going on there,
Tasha got softed nuts I gave you.

Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Yeah. Anyway, thanks Dev, we're telling out what I did.
Said it work, Candy.

Speaker 6 (01:41:47):
He goes a song on the radio, go ahead, death man, Sorry,
back to you, and after that interruptions.

Speaker 9 (01:41:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 46 (01:41:54):
I just think it's something cool where you drag around
a high speed lure at almost sixteen not s and
you catch a humongous forty five pound wahoo versus kind
of putting dow a live bait and way in to
swim by. That's a totally different fight. And when you
have an active wahoo coming at you at sixteen knots
and they're they're going to turn around, grab that bait
and run for their lives at the continuous speed that

(01:42:17):
they're going. When you're like bait fishing, they're gonna come
up and eat when they're not at speed. So it's
a wholly different fishery for me, and it just excites
me so much because I can put a fake bait
in front of a humongous fish and they eat it,
and that's what gets me going. So and you know,
this has been pretty decent around here for winter quality.

(01:42:39):
It's not been nothing the right home about, that's for sure.
Wyhoo fishing this sweek because we had that really big
moon in the sky, the current was right, We did
have a nice sweep, had some moving water a lot
through here, nice current edges. Kingfish bite's been really good
when its when it's nasty. The inside bite mutton fish
that has been pretty good. I haven't really seen a

(01:43:01):
lot of big, big, huge hammer yellow tails this week,
so I'm not sure what's going on there, but I'm
sure it has to do this west wind that we
got going on. So yeah, it looks like everything's going
to turn back around the mid of the week when
we get that cold frontend's talking about, and it hopefully
it'll turn around a little bit for us.

Speaker 6 (01:43:18):
Just see what Joe she's talking about trolling at sixteen knots.
I know a lot of guys who don't understand wahoo fishing,
and then I speed trolling right right. They see the
captain put the single gear and look at it going.
They think of themselves, gosh, didn't she trolling really fast?
I've ever trolled it fast in my life. Yeah, these
are fast ass fish. Yeah, okay, and you troll that
lwre fast ass to get them big wall Oh yeah, right,

(01:43:38):
definitely trolling thing right, pull I think.

Speaker 28 (01:43:41):
Fast baby, Yeah, sixteen knots.

Speaker 46 (01:43:44):
It's usually about the top speed that I'll run, but
I'll run anywhere from ten to sixteen, depending on which
way the current's run and which way the tide's going,
all these other factors. And and the more that I
say this is a scientific fish, it is. It's one
of the hardest fish to figure out out. And I
think that's what excites me the most about it, is
that you're just month dropping in a bait and waiting

(01:44:05):
on a fish to come by and say, oh I
think I.

Speaker 9 (01:44:07):
Might eat that.

Speaker 2 (01:44:08):
You go hunt them, Hey, devil a fish.

Speaker 6 (01:44:10):
What was your hook up with your with your artificial lure?
Would you have a wire or heavy motel on or
how was that whole thing put out there?

Speaker 46 (01:44:18):
It's a it's a cable wire and it's a lure
that a friend of mine built for me, so you
can't bite in any tackle shop. It's made out of
squid lures, and it's it's a wahoo lure. It's beautiful
and you know, some of the some of the different
things come from different places and we just build them
and you may see them on the shelves soon.

Speaker 40 (01:44:38):
That's what color was it?

Speaker 46 (01:44:40):
Oh god, it's cotton candy color. We call it cotton candy.
And I'll go ahead and tell y'all and I'll go
ahead and tell y'all that purples and blacks work really
well here, and red and blacks work real well here.
You got to match the bait. You got to match
the hatch as they used to call it in fresh water.
You gotta do it down here too. You gotta at
that beat. So if you got Benita running, you know

(01:45:02):
you're running unfortunately silver and black. I'm sorry, Joe, but
I mean you gotta run either red and black, silver
or black or purple and black?

Speaker 6 (01:45:12):
Is you got to match the hatchsalt? I mean, how
many beats out there are actually pink? Joe A lot curious?

Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
I bet a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
How many fish down below are really pink? Okay, I
get one.

Speaker 46 (01:45:22):
Understand, when you get to a different depth, that pink
goes away and it turns to a different color.

Speaker 47 (01:45:26):
So it's all like you have to you have to
figure out what what.

Speaker 46 (01:45:31):
Makes what color, because as soon as the water, as
soon as you get down into the water, as clear
as our water is, some some blures do change colors.

Speaker 5 (01:45:38):
Yeah, Eric, I have a question talking about colors.

Speaker 7 (01:45:40):
Isn't Joe supposed to be wearing the teal Dolphin shirts
since he lost the bet to Norm right now?

Speaker 5 (01:45:45):
Because he's not wearing it again?

Speaker 46 (01:45:47):
Silver and black for you Joe next week. I'm sorry
Normal on this. You're wearing dolphins colors?

Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
Oh man, love you so much. I will.

Speaker 46 (01:45:57):
It's not a damn too too.

Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:46:00):
