Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
You're number eighteen nineteen almost coming up here at Jojo Wow,
creeping along there, dude.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
I was elementary school probably when this came out. Yeah, okay,
he has like a.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Special edge school for slow slow children, got special tutors
for you. Actually, yeah, I think so, I thought, Yeah,
I thought so. Definitely.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
I have like the ADHD thing you were doing. Were
you doing steroids at three? Yes, something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah, you were juicing back then, right, correct, So the
other kids had like juice boxes, but you had a
juice full of steroids right right. It looked like a
juice box outstanding. It had like a jacked up who's
that kool Aid guy? Oh yeah on.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
The box that was you, buddy, Yeah, Jeff at nine
forty thanks for fly the ship. And our man behind
a big scene today is Noah. It's the man at
Noah's at all, buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Oh yeah, he is the man.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
So I was talking to Roger Moore, the big guy
over there, the big WakaWaka.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
It was his birthday. You know, did you say happy birthday?
I did right now. I don't believe Oh you didn't
do it? Roger, Happy birthday. But they've got some mark
text them.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Fine, okay, they've got some March madness sales going on,
uh huh on Axa, Pars and all the boat brands
that carry and all the toys. So if you want
to buy a nice fun thing to get on the water,
as they're known as they go to people for fun
in the water, yeah, tied to buy us now, dude,
why don't you go buy one? I might buy three actually, okay,
because I am filthy.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Rich all right.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Anyway, So, uh where I called a couple of caps
last night, and fishing has definitely got better this week.
You'll hear as we go today. Yeah, it's not like
a schlacky as it was last week. Right, it's definitely
on the uptick man. Yeah, I had the full moon
phase going on. Yeah, coming off of that right now,
that's a huge moon, so before the after phase the last.
These captains they really think about that whole theory, I guess.
But anyway, Yeah, Jibbo's onlined one hole. Do you want
(02:43):
to turn on my turn? I did it last week already.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
He's the man that loves his Budweiser more than he loves.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
A fifty two pound mahat Without is bud, he is
just a dud. It's the one, the only captain Jibo
Thomas on the fire fishing machine.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
I think I'd rather catch a fifty two pound mahi
these days. That's like an unheard of these times.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Well, I talked to.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Norm Bekoff left, so he told me there was a
forty eight pounder landed in Miami this week.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I don't believe it.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
I'm sorry on the shove and kind of feedback killed me.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
No, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
It's possible. I didn't hear about that. Fish, but it's possible.
You know, there's a lot of boats out there, and
if there's a big fish swimming around out there, sooner
or later, somebody's going to cross paths with it. So
a forty eight pounder is a big one. But back
ten to fifteen years ago, nobody a point and I
(03:48):
at a forty eight pounder now, or if you catch
a twenty pounders like Holy mackell, that's a huge one.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Wow. So that's crazy.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
It's not that they're not it's not that they're not
out there, they just aren't out where we're fishing. Apparently
their patterns changed or something.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Fishing close to their end of their life cycle. I mean,
they reach a certain stage where they get really big, Joe,
and then it's thet time to go.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I think they're only like three years old. They don't
live that long.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
That that forty eight pounder did reach the end of
his life cycle apparently well apparently.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
He got a gas. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
They they can grow up to that size and close
to a year, so they grow so fast. Yes, so
I and I know, I'm pretty sure I've spoke about
this before. We we tag a lot of dolphins, uh,
not big this like schoolies typically, and we tagged going
off Miami that we didn't weigh it, but he he
(04:56):
was twenty inches say or nineteen inches rate weighed probably
under three pounds. He was caught three hundred days later,
so less than a year later, and he weighed forty
one pounds.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Wow, that is no man.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
Less than a year. That fish got up to forty
one pounds and he was recaptured off of I believe
Dominican Republic, and we tagged him right here off Miami.
So they grow super fast. Those those five pounders that
were that we do catch. Those fish are four months
old if that, so they grow super fast. But let's
(05:39):
get to normal fishing because dolphins are pretty much unheard of,
although I did catch a couple this week. Fish has
been good the last few days despite the full moon.
I heard you mentioning that the current's been moving. The
golf streams in closed, so the water's been blue, which
(05:59):
deal typically is north current. And when that happens, especially
this time of the year, the fishing can really turn on.
And it's it's not been red hot, but it's been good.
So there's been a lot of sale fish caught. There's
been an occasional mahi mixed in. Some nicer sized black
fin tunas are starting to show and they should just
(06:20):
keep getting better and better. And there's also been a
few kings, not a lot of them, but the few
that we've been catching have been little better sized ones.
I heard of a king caught this week that was
fifty nine pounds. Okay, so that one is full grown,
and I don't think I've ever caught one that big personally,
but I don't. Maybe I have, I don't know, but yeah,
(06:43):
fifty nine pounds king. So there's been some good fish caught.
And there's even been a couple of wahoo's caught this week.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Yep, that's what I heard, Joe, your favorite fish. Yeah,
I could do right now, we'll tight.
Speaker 7 (07:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
So I'm guessing that the few wahoos that have been
caught is due to this full moon, which we're just
coming off the moon now, and around the leading up
and to the full moons and after the full moons
is when there's typically a few wall who's caught. Some
of the wall who's have been caught on the live baits.
Most everybody's been kite fishing because the sale fish's action
(07:30):
has been good, and that's where the tunas and the
few kings and the few dolphin have been coming off
the live baits as well. But a couple of these
wallhos have also been caught on the troll, either using
a wireline or a planer, so you know, either or
there's been some some waho's in some decent fishing around.
(07:51):
So we are heading out today. We got a little
little bit of a wind change today. It's southeast. It
looks like fifteen eighteen miles an hour, so I suspect
it should be good. We're gonna get some live baits,
go out to the edge of the Gulf stream, put
the kite up, and we're going to catch all the above.
Speaker 8 (08:10):
Jimbo, any size to the tuna. Are they still some
big ones?
Speaker 6 (08:16):
There's been some decent ones, you know, up to maybe
twenty pounds. I haven't really heard of any larger. But
that doesn't mean we're not any caught. And they should
just keep getting bigger and bigger as we get, you know,
through through the end of this month and April and
May is when we start seeing the really nice size ones.
So they're starting to show, which is encouraging, okay, and
(08:41):
they keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm happy with a
fifteen pounder, but a twenty five pounder is even more better.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Oh yeah, Jim, over you go.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Let's talk to some full moon stuff or some of
our brand new viewers, maybe novice fishermen and just tuning
for the first time. Right, So there's this thing about
the full moon man, days before, days after, which one.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Of those two actually produce the best fish? Do you think?
Speaker 7 (09:05):
So?
Speaker 6 (09:05):
I would say leading up to the full moon is
probably better, But there's other conditions that are probably more
important than the actual moon itself. So if you have
north current and blue water which means the Gulf stream
is inclosed, which has nothing to do with the moon,
(09:27):
that's is a bigger factor than the actual moon. But
if you can get the current the blue water a
couple of days before the full moon, when you get
all of the different conditions line up, then it can
get really good. Okay, so you know, but then again,
(09:49):
we go out on days when everything lines up and
it's not great, and we go on days when everything's
totally backwards and they're jumping in the boat. So nothing
beats getting out there and go on fishing.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah. Wait, you mean, you're actually driving your boat backwards,
is what you said.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
Correct, We go all different directions, we go big circles.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
He's driving his boat backwards. Man, that's cool. That's a
great fishing trip. Man, that's awesome. Every we go to
the bow because you're actually controlling and reverse.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Okay, you don't want to do that if it's choppy.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
All right, jim bey Man, good luck today, hook and
cook Man. Get him up there and do what your
thing on the Thomas Flyer because it's always the best
of the best.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
Man, go get him, Jimbo.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
That's our game plan. And good luck everybody, and be
safe out there.
Speaker 3 (10:36):

Speaker 4 (10:37):

Speaker 3 (10:46):
And I adventured affected the fishing reports picking up this week,
and it was actually pretty encouraging.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Yeah yeah, I mean he said everything they're getting wahoo,
big kings, big mahi.
Speaker 4 (10:56):

How many have you got? Because I'm losing Colt eight.
Speaker 26 (18:00):
Joe's right, it is eight.
Speaker 25 (18:02):
It is eight for the bull Dye snake Head.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
You just ruined that week.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
When you say Joe's right, he's ready to just get
up and the league.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
I just blew my whole morning. Man. Wow, Joe's right.
That sucks anyway, on your behalf.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Corey has a great record, but it's incredibly great to
achieve that momentous occasion. But have you seen some of
those biggies hanging around this week or what?
Speaker 25 (18:27):
Well, we haven't seen him quite that big, but there's
there's been quite a few.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
Uh.
Speaker 25 (18:33):
I had a guy down from dustin Florida. Sunday was Sunday,
and uh boy, we only fish for snake heads for
only about four hours and he got twenty in four hours.
Twenty Yeah, yeah. He The bit with the bike was
on very well that day it was actually an afternoon trip,
(18:56):
so we started about one o'clock and fished till about five.
And Yeah, we were using the chatterbaits, vibrating jigs with
like a little uh with the trailer just a little
grub tail still a little curly tail on the back,
and white white chatter bait, and he was tearing them up.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Uh.
Speaker 25 (19:16):
We probably would have kept fishing for him. We probably
would have got thirty or more. It's just it was,
it was that good of a bite. Biggest was about
seven and a half maybe eight, you know, close to that.
But uh, it was just it was just a lot
of fish hitting it was.
Speaker 26 (19:31):
It was.
Speaker 25 (19:31):
It was a lot of fun for him the first
time doing it too.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
The chatterbates are those tossed off the bank and then
pulled off the ledge where the snake has attack them,
or they actually just tossed towards the edge of the bank.
Speaker 25 (19:43):
Yeah, so pretty much you could you could you could
throw it right just close as you can to the bank.
Or but what you can do with it two is
when you bring it off the bank, you can let
it like drop off the ledge, you know, let it
sink to the bottom and work it, you know, deeper
down in the water column and uh, you know, if
they're not hitting on top, that's that's a great way
to catch him. Just just because it was so bright
(20:07):
that day, it was top quarter bike really wasn't on,
so but we had you had to get around cover still,
you had to get around like overhanging trees, bushes, anything
like that just created some sort of shade. So but
it's kind of just a steady retrieve too. Nothing, nothing
too crazy, Corey.
Speaker 8 (20:27):
How about the peacocks, any big ones.
Speaker 25 (20:30):
We I had, I had a couple of guys yesterday
we we really didn't target peacocks. We well, sorry, that
same day we we did go after peacocks. That's why
we ended the snake id thing a little short because
he wanted to get some peacocks, and we got a few.
We only had like an hour to before dark. So
but by the time we moved and moved a canal,
(20:51):
a different canal, we only had probably an hour hour
and a half. We got a few. We got one
was the varley about it was close to four pounds.
He got like right at the right at the end there.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
That's too bad.
Speaker 25 (21:05):
Yeah, we we went we went and then yesterday we
got a few, but we were mostly we were mostly
tarian clown knife fish. A couple of guys that I've
had before for snake out, they wanted clown knightish, which
that was it was funn yesterday it wasn't uh, it
wasn't an easy bite, but we ended up getting something.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Okay, So artificial or live bait there, Corey.
Speaker 25 (21:26):
Uh we we we we had both.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Especially we know that the cloud knife fish or we
a lot of us do know that the cloud knife
like hitting live bait versus lures, that it's more definitely
sporty or whatever to catch them on an artificial versus
live bait. Joy, I've only caught him on live bait personally,
but yeah, that's all you ever used.
Speaker 25 (21:49):
Well, they're they're they're not easy. They're not easy, They're
not easy to catch regardless of they're they're they're a
very interesting, difficult fire. It was funny because they were
were weren't getting them on our on live bait, so
I had to get something going. So I started throwing
just I don't like to you ever fish really, but
I started throwing artificial and I hooked one with it.
(22:12):
I'm like all right, so we we know they were
hitting that. We just we eventually got someone live bait,
and then we got a couple of artificials.
Speaker 26 (22:20):
So they're for.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Artificial for like targeting snakeheads.
Speaker 25 (22:27):
Well, well, it's chatterbait, frogs, spinner baits, you know that,
that sort of stuff in line spinners. Mostly it's our
swim baits too, those work as well, uh, you know,
anything like that. The clown knife fish is a lucky
craft like a pointer, like a jerk bait or swim
(22:49):
bait too. Those work real well on the clown knife fish.
Same thing with peacocks.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Okay, awesome, Carle. What's all about something else we've ever discussed?
Everybody's got their favorite rod, reels, under boats. What's your
what you go to tackle when you're looking for these
snakeheads and and peacocks. You have a special rod you
like with size reel you're losing some small you're losing
or using both? Okay, yeah, sometimes I can put them
(23:14):
out in your hands.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
Show.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Okay, so you know, okay, I've lost some rods.
Speaker 25 (23:20):
I've lost some rods and snakeheads.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
There's there, Joe, He's lost some rods to snakeheads. Well,
when you're a world record.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
But he just said he does use them and lose them. Okay,
dig bat, Okay.
Speaker 25 (23:34):
Yeah, I've got a couple of canals. If you can
find him, you've got a pretty good combo. You'll have
a pretty good expensive combo you can find.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
So, man, what names some brands are these folks to
catch these fish?
Speaker 25 (23:45):
So mostly I like like a lose. One of one
of my favorites by them is the tournament Tournament speeds fool.
I've used that over in Malaysia catching the giants. It's
a great reel. It's I think it's about two hundred bucks.
And it's that thing. Well, you can cast that thing
(24:05):
from here to China. That thing is a it's a
great distance out of it. You hold a lot of
line too, for a braided line. That's why I use
a lot of when snakehead fishing is braided line.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Spinner.
Speaker 25 (24:18):
No, it's the bay caster, man.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
You say big caster, and I already see big big
spider webs. Use them, man, I get that backlash, Joe.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
I know me too, Dude. It looks like a big
spider web.
Speaker 8 (24:31):
Some of these guys just cast him and you're just
like they'll.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Tell you that's all about the thumb, Joe. When you're
casting that caster out, the thumb is what keeps that
backlash from happened. But you got to coordinate all that stuff.
And yeah, just want to get that give me a
spinner man, Yeah, Cory, sorry.
Speaker 25 (24:51):
No, it's all right. The Yeah, the bay caster, the lose,
I mean die was always a dial alexa or a
tattoo of the three hundred. I always enjoyed using those
two for reels. Another bay caster, the rods. I usually
use pretty long rods, like a seven seven six for
like frog fishing. I just I like long rods. You
(25:13):
get better distance out of them as far as far
as the casting goes. Or like a medium heavy I'm
going like, I'm going like a heavy I mean it's
a it's a it's a stiff it's a stiff rod.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
It's almost like, as you think about a lot of
playing in a tip of the rod, Joe. Yeah, so
he's got a stiffer seven foot that won't bet.
Speaker 25 (25:34):
Yeah, so you know, right right, yeah, because you're making
those long casts. So when you make a long cast
and you let's say, you know, when you get one
of those big ones, or you just get one. In general,
you want to you want less bend and that so
you can really drive that hook into those fishes, you know,
into their head or wherever you know they hook them.
They got a bony head. So yeah, that's for snakeheads little.
(25:55):
And then like for the peacocks, I usually just use
like a die of be g spinning reel with like
a medium heavy or heavy rod. That works really well.
That even works well with the clown knightfish too.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
You fishing light motto or light braid.
Speaker 25 (26:14):
For the peacocks, mostly like light braid, it's like ten
to twenty pounds, and then for the snakeheads that's like
sixty five I mean eusing sixty five pound braid, Okay,
so which a lot of people think that's overkilled. It's
like yeah, and they say it doesn't the fight gets
cut off. It's like, now, if you catch a real one,
they're not gonna the fight's gonna still be there. It's
(26:35):
still gonna pull you around. So anybody that says that
doesn't know, yeah, right, And then I even use that's
the same stuff I used bass fishing too for largemouth.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
So you see these pro angulergeah do these tournaments. They
are trying to get money fish. They probably got like
eighty pound tests. Oh yeah, they're not messing around.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
I mean want horsemen and when that big bucket.
Speaker 8 (26:56):
Yeah, it's not about playing at that point.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
They're playing man as like them.
Speaker 25 (27:00):
Yeah yeah, I even I even use eighty for the
snakeheads or even bass fishing too, But that's mostly like
punching or flipping when you're when you're when you're punching
like hydrilla, hydrilla or heavy weeds. You need that stuff
here because it's you can't use light line. It's gonna
break off a lot of times.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
To get like fifteen fifteen yards on one spool with
an eighty pound eighty pound model metal.
Speaker 25 (27:23):
No, it's great. I mean I've I've I've got a
couple reels like the Lexus or the there's thirteen thirteen fishing.
They have a concept Day three and they got a
really deep spool on those reels and you could you
could put over one hundred yards of line of you know,
eighty pounds. So but yeah, yeah, you need that heavy tackle.
(27:45):
Some guys fishing six stuff.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Do you believe Corey that if you go cheap on
tackle you get cheap results where the bearings gonna blow
out early and they just fall apart. I mean it
s we're dropping a good dime, my good tackle, right.
Speaker 26 (27:58):
Yeah, for the most part.
Speaker 25 (27:59):
For especially, I mean I've had a few. There's been
a few like lows I've used where they're they're like
sixty dollars and they actually hold up pretty good. But
I usually like to spend a little bit on the
reels rods. I don't go to I don't really go
over one or one hundred and fifty two hundred dollars
because I've I've had four hundred dollars customer rods and
I've broken those, you know, five trips, So I'm like,
(28:22):
I forget them, like.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
You know, I shock for all my stuff on tem Wow.
I will say this, I did learn my lesson.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
I used it cheat because I usually I spent my
money on saltwater gear and I had like a cheap
freshwater rod and that was the redtail catfish snapped my
rod and I had him, man, I had him on
land on the bank and he was going crazy.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
I didn't have a net and I'm.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Trying to grab him and then I'm holding him up
and the rod just snapped the line.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Snap, what a mess you snapped? I snap, you snapped.
That would have been my greatest fresh water catch ever.
I wish I had video of that moment. Matt just
see wrangling that. There's a thing I had them.
Speaker 4 (29:09):

Speaker 6 (34:21):
Man.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Good morning Wayne, anyway, Hey.
Speaker 33 (34:23):
Good morning, good morning. Hey Joe, it's up man.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Hey, So full moon, Wayne, what's your chatter about that thing?
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Dude?
Speaker 33 (34:31):
Well, there's there's a couple of things. I don't know
where this this perception came about full moons and mangrove
snappers biting, but I may and maybe it is in
the keys or something. But I was a night captain
way back in the seventies for a lot of years,
and I will tell you they have never mangrove snappers
never have been on a full moon. And this is
(34:53):
when I tell you, and and I'll be the first
guy when I'm when I'm doing seminars and talking to people,
say you never say never about fishing, because you know what,
but they never bite on a full mood.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Wow, Miami, Maybe you know what.
Speaker 33 (35:07):
It's kind of like a word that gets passed along.
It's kind of like what you see in politics where
all of a sudden, from forty different places, they all
say the same words. Say how do they get that?
And I'm not quite sure how these things happened, but
I will tell you. I actually just to keep a
calendar every night I fished when I was a young
captain and haul over there there was I was fishing
against five other sage veterans, you know, and they killed
(35:28):
me every trip. And so so you know what, and
this is another thing for you guys that are serious
about fishing. It's keeping paying attention to what you're doing,
where you're doing it, when you're doing it, what the
tides are, the moons are, humidity, there's there's so many
things that can affect away fish bite. So long story short,
I did all that moon phase, the whole thing. And
when I look back and you know, the first couple
of years and I was I just realized that on
(35:49):
the moon the fish bit really weird. Like I said,
off Miami, and this is getting into the night season,
nighttime snapper fusion. So they'll be uh, they'll be biting
pretty good on the outside.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Reef.
Speaker 33 (35:59):
Oh, your buddies are coming back this day, should be
coming back on this moon? Really are your buddies? The
good old donkeys?
Speaker 26 (36:05):
There?
Speaker 33 (36:05):
Eric your favorites, man, I don't say.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
If you say, I go away way love that. I
hate that hate good for the back. That's why I've
had four backs sur jokes. Thanks for bringing it up, okay, appreciated, buddy.
Speaker 33 (36:20):
Yeah, so they are showing. They start showing up usually
about now, and they'll be there all the way, all
the way through April. If they show up in by
committee is kind of when they get together, and uh
we we we fish for them at times in the
party boats. We put out a bunch of big rods
and everybody hang on for dear life. We let them
all go unless it's season, and then we can keep
(36:41):
one and cut it up and give it give everybody
a piece. And there's no sense filling up a box
just with meat. And when you got folks who just
want to go out and have fun, so make the
best of the resource that way, Which is the other thing,
you know, The other thing that I that I'm kind
of big on now is is letting stuff go. I
told my guys that look, the next big fifty pound
black week, just take a picture and try to let
them go if you can. What's the big deal. You know,
(37:03):
we don't sell fish anymore. We don't do that anymore.
And that one big mama could who knows, you know
what kind of breeding stock.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
It could be for the future.
Speaker 33 (37:11):
So oh yeah, I know they look at me kind
of they look at me kind of squiggly eyed, but
it's like to take your picture, man, and yeah, and
that's it.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Hey, Wayne, but I got I got a question for
you about actually blackfintuna. So okay, guys have been getting
some some pretty decent ones like twenty plus lately.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Oh yeah, is it kind of early for.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
That or do you think it's just right on schedule
for you know, April May for the big one.
Speaker 33 (37:38):
Last ten or fifteen years. Yeah, you know, obviously that's
a little better a couple of things going on. When
you get the change of the clock. It gets people
stand out later, I think too, and that's part of it.
They definitely, Boy, they love Biden. There's a there's that
magic hour before before dark and they go absolutely go nuts.
And that's the cool thing to catch them on chugger plugs,
uh you know, just almost on anything, whereas two hours
(38:01):
before you couldn't get a snort out of one, right,
But uh no, they they What I found out since
I started fishing the hump out there off Miami, it's
fishing in deep water, you know, I called the kidnas
hump and after my partner Danny, he's the guy that
got it done out there, man. But anyway, we got
this beautiful hump. We started fishing off shore a lot
(38:21):
late in the afternoon and different times a day. We
found out that, man, that's when they fire up, and
they're year round. We have to in a fish off
Miami year round. They're not.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
It's not often that.
Speaker 33 (38:30):
They're always the bigger ones. The bigger ones are now.
They're coming up now in the springtime.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
But you don't need.
Speaker 33 (38:37):
Live bait to chum them.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
You do not.
Speaker 33 (38:39):
They will come to dead, dead chum you know the
y elephant to in the fishery that started about twenty
years ago off of Isaac's. The guys that were started
doing that were guys from up north and they were
chumming with whole sardines, half sardines. They get in front
of the fish, start chuck chumming, and everything gets advanced
to this fancy stuff, you know, something that that smells
(38:59):
good to you know. They don't have to have a
they don't have to have a goggle eye. They'll take
a dead sardine. Man, They're happy, right, But yeah, people
tend to put too much emphasis on oh you gotta
be fancy for him, you know, and that's not that's
not the case at all.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
So anyway, I agree, he just killed all the commercial
by the way.
Speaker 8 (39:19):
Yeah, but you know, I totally agree, and he's being real.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
I really damn live Vegas whites. I just thow a
dead scar men though, So we're good. Yeah, you know.
Speaker 33 (39:31):
You go buy bait masters and buy two twenty five
pound cases of sardines. Saw them out, start chopping and
chunk and crap up your boat and stay on the drift.
Stay on the drift. You cannot just go up five
pieces and go where are they?
Speaker 12 (39:44):
You know, well you.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Don't on this show. We're never making trouble. Okay.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
So if I just said the commercial bait guy, okay,
we just we just like to start things up right here.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Okay. So you know, yeah, you all the.
Speaker 33 (39:56):
Days, all those days of guys catching bait, and that
got really big. Twelve fifteen years ago. Everybody was catching
five hundred base a day. I can remember going out
throwing my net once catching one hundred sick because I
got to go now because right now, by the time
those guys would catch their one hundred or two hundred
big we'd have already whacked all the closed off and
have caught all the nice kings that were sure. You know,
(40:17):
if they got these go fast boats, go back and forth. Man,
you know fish with the fish are biting. Not when
you got five thousand live base in the world by
the time you get out there. Guess what, I'm not
hungry anymore. Fella's see it right right? Yeah, that big
ugly that big ugly guy just caught them all. So
you know, so.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
White the fisher, the reward mentell. So we have brand
new people who watched the Facebook stream at shooting in
the night flight every week. Tell us about the operations.
How about you cast.
Speaker 33 (40:43):
Board reward fishing fleet we have. We have two boats,
fifty six and a seventy. We do half day trips,
we do special charters. Next Saturday, Saturday, I've got a
an all day I call them iron Man trips. So
we're gonna hopefully bring some folks out. Yeah, they want
to learn how to vertical jake, slow pitch jig. We're
experts out pretty much. See I was doing them twelve
years ago, ten twelve years ago. You want to see
(41:04):
some cool YouTube videos, look look at some of those
ones I did ten twelve years ago, warsaws, all kinds
of cool fish we caught back there. But anyway, we're
doing one this coming Saturday.
Speaker 26 (41:13):
A week today.
Speaker 33 (41:14):
I'll be out on the water, I think by this time.
So but yeah, we do that for the local folks.
But we got a lot of folks in town. I
want to come fishing. We get live dait on the
boat every trip available for a small search charge, but
we buy it. We will pull up to pedro. One
of the boys say, load up to Wells and we
try to make every opportunity give every our fisherman. Then
(41:35):
we're in Bayside Marketplace Fishingmiami dot com. There's only one
of them and Reward fishing Fleet on Facebook.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
So cool.
Speaker 4 (41:44):
By the way, for the tournament, judge said he's donating
twenty five Johnny Jicks for you.
Speaker 33 (41:51):
You know, you know, I got to get back with
those guys. I gotta get back with those guys again.
They've charted us a few times too. But yeah, I
need more materials, man, because you know, my folks, my
folks love that stuff.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Johnny guys are on Wayne. I'll be sure to text
them what you said. Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 33 (42:08):
Give give me a bunch of the cheap ones. Man,
I don't like the fancy thing.
Speaker 3 (42:11):
There's no such thing as a cheap yeah. Man, man,
those days are gone. Baby.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
You should know Almighty, they change. They have changed, Wayne.
You haven't changed. I haven't changed the old guys. That
never changed, man. So thank you very much, Wayne, everybody thanks,
Joe Eric, take care of guys to Let's go on
to the sea, Joey Shlley bloke. I must say this
guy got some wicked big bugs this week and one
(42:41):
massive fish.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
He speared right to the freaking brain hole.
Speaker 8 (42:45):
Look, you're just ready to pounce on dracking.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
How does dract of the teeth come out when he's
like literally pissed off and they the fangs come flying out?
Speaker 5 (42:53):
Why don't you be Why don't how about instead you're like, wow,
that is an epic catch.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
Good job, Jim. I am never gonna change stance. A
real man catches a.
Speaker 4 (43:01):
Fish on a lot of rail here, not sneaking up
by some sea fan and.
Speaker 3 (43:05):
Put the spear right.
Speaker 5 (43:07):
It's freaking why Jim doesn't donate any good food to
you anymore?
Speaker 3 (43:11):
Maybe we'll fight. He's on the phone show I'm happy
you heard this, Hey, assassin, good morning.
Speaker 34 (43:18):
So, so who's who's flowing bubbles? That's what I want
to know.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Bloop blop bloop. You happy to go ahead? Okay, that's
you farty farting in a bathtub. Go ahead, listen.
Speaker 34 (43:29):
I so first, let me give you the update. Everything's good, man, Hey,
still out there?
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Uh wait wait wait wait wait no, John, wait wait, Jem, Jim, Jim,
stop you're talking like Mickey Mouse on helium. Okay, hang
up your phone, hang up, we'll call you right back.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
Okay, why does that happen? Everything on his phone?
Speaker 4 (43:50):
Only every Yeah, it's not like he's like a night
trox man like fifty feet below.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
He changed. It's only his phone. I'll tell you what
it is. Man.
Speaker 4 (44:01):
It's a good lord upstairs. Pantis asked back for sparing
these poor fish right to the crandy you okay, just
so you know it's pay back.
Speaker 8 (44:09):
How many babies do you think that that?
Speaker 23 (44:11):
What was it?
Speaker 3 (44:12):
A grouper? You said he shot? No, this was I
think it was a big kingfish this week.
Speaker 8 (44:15):
Oh you got a king some someone man who cares?
Speaker 3 (44:19):
There was a king who cares?
Speaker 4 (44:21):
Man, It's it's still a damn big fish that's got
a spear?
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Please? What is that? That's what you got? That's a kingfish.
You don't know what that is. I'm just asking you
tell me.
Speaker 5 (44:31):
Oh my gosh, I know you better hide that because
if people saw what you just asked what that was, this.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Show would be over all. Right, Jimmy, you back, Wow,
I'm back. A kingfish looks like there's your manly voice,
jim There you go.
Speaker 34 (44:46):
You know, however, you know the story is a good
one because till I was, I was just I was
on the second rate and here I look down and
there's a kingfish basically on the reef, just laying there,
not moving. I'm like, we usually when we see kingfish?
Speaker 3 (45:06):
Is that the schools of them? It's antre? Is that
a picture?
Speaker 34 (45:10):
You say, it's an old picture.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
Yeah, but I still Oh you're a reef poster. Oh
that's even better, I am, I am. That's great.
Speaker 34 (45:18):
Memories pop up, all right. The beauty of this one
was I did and he didn't move, Buddy, I got.
I got lucky on that shot because they can run
pretty hard. They can run really hard. And I was
and I was thinking about you Eric when I posted it.
You know in the brain hole. You know, it was
(45:39):
perfect shot. So that doesn't happen too often. But I
got lucky on that day.
Speaker 23 (45:44):
So let's talk about now.
Speaker 34 (45:46):
Let's talk about it now. But man, we're still we
got what two weeks left, that's it. But uh, first
time getting any with eggs yesterday, which is unusual. We've
been seeing cluster together. So you look in the hole
and there's four or five, maybe you get two good
ones out of there. The ones that are short are
(46:09):
just short. So that's that's promising for the year coming up.
So you know, it's been good, it's been rock solid,
and we're getting our limit. We're getting our limit. Yesterday
we had a south current visibility wasn't that good. I
was surprised with a decent vertical visibility, but horizontal was
at thirty feet nothing spectacular. And the water temperature is
(46:30):
still seventy four on the computer. So I was like, oh,
I'm still a little chilly on the Willie, but not bad. Listen,
diving conditions on the top are good, little but one
foot two foot chop. This weekend's gonna blow up a
little bit. And then even next week I think we
got some fronts coming through, so I think things are
moving around, which is good. Yeah, but we only have
(46:50):
a couple more weeks left and then we're done, buddy,
Then no more lapsters?
Speaker 3 (46:54):
Got do you do?

bushes the headges. Okay, now I could post pictures of that,

cleans the house? And you know you know, But no,
I don't. I don't do that, you know.
Speaker 4 (47:20):

is our guy here on the water or on land today?
What are you thinking of this weather?
Speaker 20 (54:50):
Ben?
Speaker 3 (54:50):
I'm gonna say he's on the water. I would take
that bet with you too, Ben. Yeah, we were seldom
agree on anything.
Speaker 8 (54:56):
He could be on a boat though, I would say kayak.
Speaker 3 (54:59):
But there's a lot of tournaments starting.
Speaker 4 (55:02):
Just wide open with all correct answers that could be
on a boat or on a kayak. I mean, we'll
pick your one, Dude.
Speaker 8 (55:07):
I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say boat, even though I
don't want to.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
Shot rolls, slide one cap.
Speaker 26 (55:16):
Where are you at, dude, I'm lose parking lot?
Speaker 3 (55:20):
What getting ready to go into the water?
Speaker 7 (55:23):
Joe getting ready to go?
Speaker 26 (55:24):
Yeah, you know on a boat?
Speaker 3 (55:26):
That would mean he's on a Yeah, I'm gonna.
Speaker 26 (55:28):
Take my boat up to Uh, I'm gonna take my
boat up to lake today.
Speaker 4 (55:33):
Shot, what boat do you show on the social media
screen with all those great, great rap you've got there?
Speaker 3 (55:39):
Whose boat is that? Is that your boat?
Speaker 26 (55:41):
That's that's No, that's a team real battery boat from
Rby Tackle. It's a team Fish withst It's a thirty
three contender.
Speaker 4 (55:50):
That's a badass boat. So I said, is that shot
boat Man? That is one bang boat. If that's his buddy,
let me tell you see.
Speaker 8 (55:56):
I was, Wow, Yeah, that's a nice one, Superman.
Speaker 4 (56:00):
So while you're heading out today and you know, if
we had the full moon face Sean, do you have
any beliefs in that whole thing?
Speaker 7 (56:05):
Man?
Speaker 3 (56:06):
Before or after? What's your thoughts about that.
Speaker 26 (56:08):
I do, and I saw it happen yesterday. You never
know when they're gonna bite, okay, but so yesterday, like
the whole East Coast skunked in the morning for the
most part, and the midday, and then the afternoon the
bite just turned on.
Speaker 7 (56:24):
Yep.
Speaker 26 (56:25):
The people that went out in the evening got kings
wa who sailfish, five six stale fish, and then like
a little evening drift.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
Damn.
Speaker 26 (56:32):
So my theory is it was so bright. I'll send
you a video how bright it was. It looked like
daytime before the sun was up. It was so bright.
The fish feed all night long, and then they're not.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Hungry all day yep, makes perfect sense.
Speaker 26 (56:45):
And then they get ready to feed again, and then
they start feeding. You know, I think you're around four
o'clock yesterday, the bike just turned on like fire and
everybody was catching lessing.
Speaker 4 (56:54):
Right you guys paying attention to audience to what he
just said. How does full moon phase with that light
gets that water kind of eliminated?
Speaker 3 (57:01):
Right?
Speaker 7 (57:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (57:02):
Uh, they turn on in the afternoon, so people keep going,
I want that morning by be on the water at
five thirty, okay, like Sean is right now, whatever. But
in this circumstance, the afternoon is the better bite of
the day.
Speaker 3 (57:14):
Sean knows this.
Speaker 5 (57:15):
This is why I don't like putting my usually the
August tournament on the exact full moon or even like
the next day, because of that problem where you'll have
a tournament and it's early and then you got to
be back on the beach by like two, so like
you're not getting anything in that morning, and then you
(57:37):
get lucky and maybe get a big king or something
late in the day and then make your way in.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
You actually playing that far ahead, realize you'ment. You look.
Speaker 5 (57:48):
Off of Yeah, Tom Green, if people know who Tom
Green is, I do know Tom Green. So before he
retired he gave me one of his almanacs that I
followed for years.
Speaker 4 (57:58):
That's smarter on your part, Joe amount of stuff. Yeah,
so if that's the case. Shot in the white Fish
this early morning, watch just going near curious.
Speaker 26 (58:07):
There's my dogs wake up this early?
Speaker 3 (58:11):
Oh the you are the dogs? Eis away dogs.
Speaker 26 (58:14):
The problem right now with the afternoons is is as
neurally blows up and gets pretty rough out there. So yeah,
I like going down in the morning catching bait, and
you know, give my best shot. But I mean, yesterday
there's three with the kayak and one of them was
John Stackhouse. I think you know him from your tournaments joke.
Speaker 3 (58:30):
Yes, they do.
Speaker 26 (58:30):
But he stayed out there, man, I must have been
three point thirty four o'clock. He looked into a sailfish
and landed it, which is cool. That's his first sailfish
in the kayaks, so cool props to him. Man, stayed
out there for ten fifteen hours and make it happen.
I was already if I'm taking a nap.
Speaker 6 (58:46):
You know.
Speaker 3 (58:47):
That was cool day though, but I'm sure he was.
Speaker 26 (58:49):
Yeah, it's a really long day. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
Yeah, I give I guess sean prospect because I don't
know if anybody who has a full time job that
could fight as much time as he can. Every value
the moment he's got to go out in the water
and fish. Yeah, you can't keep the scaff the water, dude,
You can't staff the water man. You're die hard bro,
and I respect that big time.
Speaker 7 (59:10):
You know.
Speaker 26 (59:12):
Yeah, you could be doing in worse things.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
You know. It's like maybe moto grass or you paint
in the house.
Speaker 26 (59:18):
I don't know. Yeah, Hey, come on, man, the wife
listens to this stuff but trying.
Speaker 3 (59:22):
To do Yeah, what are you doing?
Speaker 4 (59:24):
Just check us out. The grass is way overrated. Okay,
definitely over My grass is always mood and nice.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
Yeah, I'm pretty upsessed with me.
Speaker 7 (59:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (59:33):
I think every guy is obsessed with their lawn. They
go to an extent.
Speaker 26 (59:36):
It's a it's a coming of age thing, you know.
We get to this age group in our life. It's
like you worry about that different stuff like that. Yeah,
you're proud of that new ceiling and you bought her
that free you put in.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Yeah, well, shot us, I know you have to ramp
ready to launch. Man, We'll let you go do your thing. Brother.
Speaker 4 (59:51):
But that's a great report about that late afternoon bite. Yeah,
on the full moons have more clarity about how that
damn thing works. So after after the full moon.
Speaker 26 (01:00:00):
Not how it always works, but that's how I worked.
That's how I worked yesterday and probably worked the same today.
Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
So yeah, so shot, where you go? I have a
question for man, what do you think President Trump's favorite fishes?
What I mean, grouper, filet of fish, sandwich or snapper?
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
What do you think.
Speaker 26 (01:00:16):
I'm gonna go with the kingfish because that's what you're
only fish when we're fishing in front of his house.
Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
Oh okay, he just threw a whole new bucketing the
wrench there, Joe. We'll never get an answer. Whatever dice
is kingfish?
Speaker 26 (01:00:31):
Well, we're I'm not allowed to discuss politics.
Speaker 7 (01:00:36):
It was not.
Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
It's not about politics. I'm just asking about what the
president of the United States likes for his favorite fish dish.
I happen to know what it is, but it's definitely
not kingfish. And anything else is that kingfishka? Anyway, Sean,
thank you man, have a great day. Catch about buddy, sir?
Speaker 26 (01:00:51):
All right, all right, see you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:00:53):
One more time for the clock rocks here? What is
President Trump's favorite fish? With that starbright loaded bucket? Eight
six six eight all one zero nine forty? Is a grouper?
File a a fish? Stand which from McDonald's or snapper?
And it's not king I think McDonald's is key there,
it's kind of key. I would just say, maybe if
you've picked that answer, you might just want yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:01:14):
Because you haven't been saying McDonald's. You've been saying file
a fish.
Speaker 5 (01:01:18):
Yeah, correct, Yeah, you gotta put in the McDonald's, okay,
because then it makes sense the file a fish from McDonald's.
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
That's that's the answer. Lineup because you shouldn't the answer.
Just give it. I'm not call now when right here?

track that we spoke about last week. It's just been
a little you know, not springtime fishing yet, but it's
starting to trickle in. You know, throughout the week, we've
seen a handful of species and uh, you know, I've
been telling all the customers right now, it's kind of
quality over quantity. We're getting a lot of great quality fish.
(01:08:03):
We're getting a lot of sailfish coming through. Still, you know,
we're still out there accidentally catching sailfish while we're targeting
other things.
Speaker 7 (01:08:10):
So it's a good time of the year for that.
They always keep us busy.
Speaker 40 (01:08:13):
One sailfish could make a whole trip, sure, So that's
been helping. But you know, having the tuners starting to
trickle in here and there, you go out one day,
you get a few, you know, a few nice random
mahi passing by. They're all pretty big right now. You
don't even have to wait measure any of them, could
see that they're clearly keepers before even land them.
Speaker 7 (01:08:31):
Good, you know.
Speaker 40 (01:08:32):
And the Kings this week, which they've been a little
slow for us, but they trickled in a little thicker,
so we've been getting a lot of those right out
front of Pompino.
Speaker 7 (01:08:40):
So it's it's been a.
Speaker 40 (01:08:41):
Good productive week, but still a little slow for us here.
Not like I wouldn't tell anyone there was a hot
bite around Pompino this week?
Speaker 7 (01:08:48):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
How was the bite around? Like the wahoo with the
moon and stuff? I saw Doug got one.
Speaker 40 (01:08:54):
Yeah, yeah, a lot of people got some this week.
You know, we picked off a couple, but yeah, you know,
we're we're right around that full mood. And they always
say three days before three days after, you know, you'll
get your most wahoo action. So we've been seeing it,
you know, on our boats and on social media, and
I'm sure we'll hear about it on the show.
Speaker 23 (01:09:10):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
Cool.
Speaker 4 (01:09:12):
Well they charter you Vetty Betty's fishing charters, is it
your tackle? Provided you guys should let them use your
own stuff or they have to bring your own gear.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
No, yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:09:21):
We provide everything. I tell people, we provide everything except
food and drinks.
Speaker 40 (01:09:26):
You know, some people like to show up with their
own fishing rod, and some people want to, you know,
bring some of their own tackle.
Speaker 7 (01:09:32):
We had people.
Speaker 40 (01:09:33):
I've had a guy bring a fly rod on the
boat for a trolling trip and he sat there holding
his fly rod the whole time.
Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
Would lure it?
Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
Oh my gosh, he would be casting the fly rod
because he probably hooks somebody the head, right, no idea?
Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
Wow? Well wait what did you wait? I got I
got to dive into this.
Speaker 8 (01:09:53):
So wait, this guy shows up with a fly rod,
a saltwater fly rod or are we talking like me.
Speaker 40 (01:10:01):
Like a flimsy like I thought this thing would Oh gosh,
there's no gimba on the bottom.
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
Wait what did you wait?
Speaker 8 (01:10:08):
I gotta know.
Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
So when he showed up and you're looking at this guy,
did you did you say anything?
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Or were you like, hey, you know, use it? Why
did you bring your fly?
Speaker 32 (01:10:20):
Like?
Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
What did you?
Speaker 7 (01:10:21):
What did you do?
Speaker 40 (01:10:22):
So he brought it up to me the night before
and he said, hey, can I bring my fly rod?
And I said, look, the only thing you know really
right now that would be even close to trying to
target for fly fishing. Would be like, mahi, if we
get a school, a mahi, you know you can you
can pitch the fly into the school. I said, but
there's not even that many schools around right now. It
would just be like if it happens, that'd be the
scenario where you get to use it. He goes, well, not,
(01:10:45):
I don't even care if I if I catch the
fish on a fly. He's like, I could put one
of your trolling lures at the end we control with it.
And I'm like, I said, look, man, if you bring it, well,
you know, we'll work with it whatever you want to do.
Speaker 7 (01:10:56):
So he shows up. It's this little flimsy fly rod.
Speaker 40 (01:10:59):
There's no gimbal on the bottom, there's a little tiny
butt under the rear where it wouldn't even fit in
a rock. Of course, this fragile, it was very fragile rod.
He had to hold it the whole time, Like on
the run out, you have to hold it because you
can't lay it on the deck.
Speaker 7 (01:11:13):
While we're fishing.
Speaker 40 (01:11:14):
You got to hold it because you can't stick it
in a rod holder. And the guy sat there literally
holding his fly rod in his hand. The whole time,
and then his rod's barely getting hit and my planers
are tripping left and right, so he keeps throwing me
the rod and then jumping on the plane rod. So
it was it was one of those. But he did
catch something on the dot. I want to say, we
caught either a black fin or a benita on it.
(01:11:35):
And I mean I remember it being like a two
pound tuna, and they like dumped his.
Speaker 7 (01:11:39):
Fly rod.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
On the initial hit.
Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
We're like, wow, who would ever bring a fly rod
to throw? You're not doing any bad cast like a
fly rod would do. He was trolling with trolling with
a frigging fly rod.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
What is that all about? Man?
Speaker 5 (01:11:56):
Gosh, man, if you wouldn't have got video of that, Benny,
especially like getting this little tiny tune on there, like
right right, that just.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
The bonehead reel of the week, Man of the week.
Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
Of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Yeah right, oh my god. Wow, Yeah, we learned no
more stories every week, Benny. You heard it all. You
go through all these charters, man, you just never know
what you're gonna find.
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
Wow, a story like this, my SpongeBob zebco out there
and catch that big tuna.
Speaker 8 (01:12:27):
The funny thing is like I'm picturing this guy and
he's he's holding it though for like four hours.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
He's probably like like that's his like his doll. He's
like he's proud of his fly rod matter.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
I don't know, man, Gosh anyway, Benny, So the boys
out in the boat today, guys are there to do
the thing.
Speaker 40 (01:12:45):
Oh no, I mean we we were anticipating a lot
of win today. We only had two trips set up
for today. And you know, the way the wind report
was looking, I thought it was going to be a
little rougher. I knew the morning would be okay, and
as the day goes on it was going to get
a little rougher it. I mean, it seems like it didn't.
Maybe I got a dead report, but I'm out west
and there's no wind.
Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
Yeah, there's nothing here in Miami, not blown at.
Speaker 7 (01:13:08):
All for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
All right, Betty.
Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
So after this full moon phase, things will still pick
up for a week or two afterwards, or just that
three day thing.
Speaker 7 (01:13:16):
Oh yeah, things are going to be picking up week
after week.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Right now.
Speaker 40 (01:13:19):
As we get through April, you're gonna just start seeing
people talk about springtime fishing is here, and everyone will
go out and catch three or four different species and
one four hour trip, so it'll be easy soon, like
everyone will be catching fish.
Speaker 4 (01:13:31):
Yeah, Betty, before you go, question for you, man, what
do you think pressure that Trump's favorite fish to eat is?
Would you know if it's a snapper, b fil a
fish sandwich and McDonald's or c grouper?
Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
What do you think? Just your guess?
Speaker 40 (01:13:47):
I mean, you know, if I had to take a
random guess, I mean, we see he brought all those
college kids fil a of fish sandwiches, so maybe that was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
One of his Yeah, that's a really good answer.
Speaker 7 (01:13:56):
But then you know, like he might like pink snow.
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
But we're talking about this. Wa ain't going there. Ain't
ain't going there. Dude, Thank you, Benny. That's great.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):

Just we're banging, dude. You're wicked on point man.
Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
So thanks very much for making us look good because
we certainly needed help for sure to brow we go, Joey,
Let's do it. Nor beckoff on line one. I talked
to him last night. Hey, Norm, what's going Norm? Good
morning buddy, Good morning ladies. Thank you. I feel so flattered.
Thank you. Good one of ladies. Nor. We cheted last night,
(01:20:43):
not to Ben Broward, buddy.
Speaker 23 (01:20:46):
Yeah, man, it was pretty good. Earlier on in the week,
the black Mentunas went off. I mean, guys were catching him.
You know, our hour and a half to you know,
two hours to get a limit, no problem getting limited
mostly footballs to the mediums. Uh, no real big models
(01:21:06):
just yet. But I mean it was a really strong
showing the black Patunas and then you know, lots of sailfish.
This whole week really is just very good on sales,
mostly on kites. But the ballyhoos are showing up at
the stinkhole and at the balls, so uh, you go
down there and catch fly vallely whoes and just just
(01:21:28):
deploy them right there. And that was that was a
pretty good bet. A few kings. We had some decent
wa who's here right before the moon the blood moon
that we had this week, which is pretty cool. If
you didn't see it was really cool.
Speaker 7 (01:21:50):
Uh what else?
Speaker 23 (01:21:52):
Well, you know, you guys heard about that big sword
fish that was caught.
Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
But uh no, yeah I mentioned that man because I didn't.
We've talked about the show. But that was a beast man.
Speaker 23 (01:22:02):
Yeah, it was a six hundred pounds swordfish caught what I.
Speaker 4 (01:22:06):
Saw the photo by the way, mind me caught it huge,
I mean the south wicked big man. Yeah, that's a
big model.
Speaker 23 (01:22:16):
And there was some other decent fish caught this week too,
So I mean the sword fish was pretty good, you
know it it was all kind of happening.
Speaker 38 (01:22:26):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
I mean, it's just it was all.
Speaker 23 (01:22:27):
It was really good fishing. The sweet bottom fishing was
still pretty good. A few muttains tails at night, and
not too many guys fished it because it was it
was a little bit on the bumpy side earlier on
this week. But one thing that's I'm noticing is that
the fishing picked up really good. Right when the wind
(01:22:51):
switched like it was it blue northwest. The fishing picked
up really, really strong. And that's usually case when the
fronts come through. Normally it takes about a day after
the fronts blow and then it blows northeast, uh northeast
to east and then it really picks up. But this
time the fishing really picked up right on the swing,
(01:23:13):
and so that was that's something that's been happening here
in the last couple of fronts. I don't know what's
causing that, but that's it seems to me that's the
way it's been. Harp fishing is really too, I mean
lots of tarfing big big fish too. So it's how happening.
Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
You said that the tarpa is so begging that shriver
on Joey sore slamming.
Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
And jamming man, So not too shabby, Norma. One more question.
Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
There were caps about your full moon theory, before or
after or which is the best you think?
Speaker 23 (01:23:46):
Uh, well, it's to me, I think it's right before the.
Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Moon, right before okay, right before the moon, Joe.
Speaker 23 (01:23:56):
But it seems to also be that there are a
variety of factors that play into that too. I mean,
if you've got a full moon but you don't have current,
you're not going to catch him many fished, it's not
going to be as good. So it's got there's other
things that that play into that as well.
Speaker 4 (01:24:16):
Gotcha very true with the current? Yeah sure, yeah, no
current man, you're you catching dudo? I mean yeah, yeah,
all right, Well just go ahead. Sorry, you heard about
what you got.
Speaker 23 (01:24:30):
You guys heard about that big dolphin, right, We.
Speaker 4 (01:24:33):
Talked about that on the show today as well. Yes,
we got with a forty eight pounder. I think landed
some big monster this past week. Yeah, yeah, big old man.
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
How how far did he get him?
Speaker 23 (01:24:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
Come on, you know know, Joe, you don't really don't
really care. Just a guy got a forty eight pound
may here.
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
Gay you imagine if it was like eighty feet Oh yeah, okay, Joe,
it's happened. You're definitely yeah. Anyway, it's not wrong that.
Speaker 23 (01:25:02):
Listen when in the winter time they'll come in real
shallow a feet on ballahoo's.
Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
Wow, Joe, you're right about something for a change. Great wow, No,
thank you much for rocking a clock man. But have
a great weekend, buddy, Thanks for bringing me a strong
every show.
Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
Thanks.
Speaker 26 (01:25:21):
I'm not Doug.
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
Run that dog.
Speaker 4 (01:25:22):
There you go, saying our good friend Johnny stack Bill
on the program, Jojoe.
Speaker 3 (01:25:29):
Johnny, Johnny, what's up, buddy? Good? Want to see you?
Speaker 26 (01:25:32):
Oh I'm good.
Speaker 23 (01:25:34):
How are you guys doing today?
Speaker 4 (01:25:35):
Not too bad? Are you in bed with the blanket
on your neck? Or you actually get ready to go fish.
What are you doing today?
Speaker 6 (01:25:40):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
Now, I'm in bad.
Speaker 43 (01:25:42):
I've worked like fifteen straight days and today's a day
off and I could not be more excited about it.
Speaker 4 (01:25:52):
You know, he can be sleeping in Joe, let's say,
you know what, I'm in bed. I'm not fishing. I
mean kicked my ass kicked all week long. I'm tired
of burned out. Takes the time to be on the show.
Speaker 23 (01:26:02):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:26:02):
That's why our captains is the greatest of the best,
because they actually.
Speaker 4 (01:26:05):
Show up no matter what. Yes, they are Johnny, we
appreciate it, buddy boy. So leading up, leading up to
your tiredness, what made you tired out?
Speaker 3 (01:26:14):
Dude?
Speaker 43 (01:26:17):
Well, I mean it's been crazy busy we which is great.
I feel like, right after I talked to you at
the boat show, it just everybody managed to call me
and book a trip.
Speaker 26 (01:26:30):
But fishing has been, uh, you know.
Speaker 43 (01:26:33):
Kind of wishy wash.
Speaker 33 (01:26:34):
It hasn't been.
Speaker 43 (01:26:34):
Really good, and it hasn't been really bad Lake Ida.
I've only fished there a couple of times. I'm kind
of directing everyone to fish in the Everglades.
Speaker 34 (01:26:47):
Lake Ida.
Speaker 43 (01:26:48):
You know you're still catching a dozen peacocks in four
hours but it's it's just not like what it should
be for this time of the year. You know, you
go to the Everglades and you're catching two hundred fish
in four hours. Now they're all cichlids. There's really no
peacocks out there either. But I've had a lot of families,
(01:27:10):
so it just been been really.
Speaker 4 (01:27:12):
Good cool, you know, speaking of the everybody shot, let
me ask you a question, because I have never done
this show very much. We'll say you have at the Everglades,
right right, what do you put a holiday park or
what's closest little area out there to drop your boat in?
Speaker 8 (01:27:25):
What do you put the holiday park or alligator rally?
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
Okay, so you got your boat in water. Now there's
a billion different waterways and channels to the Everglades. How
do you know which one actually produces fish? I don't know.
They're all good.
Speaker 43 (01:27:38):
You know, there's a couple of things that you should
look for. You know, there's these access points, and they're
also they're all very close to the boat ramp. You know,
you can go look at these access points that get
you out into the flats, but I will warn you
(01:28:00):
most of these areas have a lot of really big rocks,
so you know, stay in the in the canals, and
then if you're gonna go out and try to venture off,
just do it on the trolling motor, be on the
bat of the boat, where polarized sunglasses. That way, you know,
you can make it out into those little openings, right
(01:28:21):
and uh sometimes they'll even be flowing.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
A little bit of water.
Speaker 43 (01:28:24):

Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
What do you got?
Speaker 40 (01:38:01):

Speaker 45 (01:38:01):
Because the winds are gonna start blowing. Do you do

twenty seas two to three feet in her coastal waters,
choppy and exposed areas tomorrow mostly sunnay higher eighty one
southeast winds twenty to twenty five uh sees three to

the house weather shape up that we are.
Speaker 45 (01:39:21):
We are it's been nice and warm. We're gonna get
a round of severe storms tonight, and but yeah, it's
the weather's been nice. It's been good.
Speaker 4 (01:39:31):

Destiny Dive is back on Discovery Channel Sunday morning. I
might add, Okay, nice and early, get up and watch

things underwater, and I can't wait to see the next season.

Speaker 3 (01:39:52):

Speaker 45 (01:39:54):
Yeah, no, I finished writing the shows.
Speaker 23 (01:39:56):
Yes, good season.
Speaker 3 (01:39:58):
Yeah, your host dies she writes for the thing too.
Heck yeah, man, man, it's a lot of work doing
that stuff. It's also very cool. She used to write
her own paycheck, so she actually adds as many zeros
as she wants to. It's amazing exactly. Jen.
Speaker 4 (01:40:13):
We love you, Thank you so very much. Have a
great weekend. J I got a little treat for you,
John Line number two. We're bringing back a good friend
from from Georgia for a quick little chat. Okay, Captain
Boucher Smith is back in the show.
Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
Really in the saying hey man, whoah, buddy Cam Boucher,
Glad to have you back on a show for just
a lovely chat. It's been a while, man. How you
how you doing buddy, I'm doing good.
Speaker 22 (01:40:40):
How about you, guys doing good?
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
We're having a good show. We miss you. We missed
you on the show big time.
Speaker 4 (01:40:46):
We know you want to retire and not wake up
at ridiculous hour every weekend, which we understand totally because
we do. But what's happening in the world of Boucher
Smith these days?
Speaker 22 (01:40:56):
All my gills are drying out terribly. I haven't Christmas,
and I was supposed to go fishing.
Speaker 46 (01:41:03):
This coming Monday, but they're gonna have a heavy rain
storm on those weekends. And the guide was breaking about
the water being too high in the river, that it
runs too fast and it's thirty and you don't catch it,
so he canceled the trip. I'll be coming to South
Florida about April fifteenth.
Speaker 22 (01:41:25):
And I can't wait.
Speaker 23 (01:41:27):
As soon as I get in town, fish with Aby for.
Speaker 22 (01:41:29):
A couple of days, running along with one of our
old clients, and I got fishing planned all over Southford.
I just can't wait to get there.
Speaker 4 (01:41:40):
Hey, Camp, back in your charter days, when you saw
this full moon phase which you're still kind of going
through here, what was your philosophy of that thing? Was
it before after during what what's your whole professional thing
about that?
Speaker 22 (01:41:53):
Well, it varies from fish to fish. As an example,
snooker better before the full moon, but coming up to
the full moon because they gather up the spawn, and
then Martin snappers bite best after they spawns right by
after the full moon. Anybody's just game. But my personal opinion,
(01:42:20):
to a great extent, uh fishing quality is blamed on
the full moon because people notice the food When the
fish is small and there's a quarter moon, people don't
notice it because it's not so impactful of the full
moon has been as a general rule, if the conditions
(01:42:42):
are good, you know, the winds blown right and everything
everything full moon are not, the fish are gonna bite.
So I think people blame them moon a lot when
they can't catch a thing just because the other conditions
are good.
Speaker 2 (01:42:59):
The import thinking about the full moon.
Speaker 22 (01:43:02):
His congregate the spawn right. So like to the Saint Thomas,
everybody fishes for three or four days before the full
moon and three or four days after the full moon
because that's when good barland, conyers and certain spots just
(01:43:23):
to spawn, so the fish getting more concentrated than one spot.
Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
I think that's a big part of making the full.
Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
Moon situations makes great sense, man, Yeah, it makes great sense.
We talked a lot of our caps shot rolls earlier today,
Cap and he was saying, uh, you know he tried
the morning fish bite, but later in the afternoon. Uh,
when I started getting later Joe in today, Yeah, he said,
fishing just got during this full moon phase. Fishing just
got slamming great and they were just biting everything but
(01:43:55):
a bare hook.
Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
And he said, because the moon was so bright, he
fell that.
Speaker 5 (01:44:00):
You know, the fish ate all night long, so they
weren't hungry again until the afternoon after Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:44:05):
Yeah, so we like that full moon face Capital.
Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
Listen, we're excited you coming back down to South Florida.
Maybe all run into I know my sons, by the way,
are booking Aby Raymond for a trip I think next week.
So Aby's part of our crew, and my two boys
actually charted him quite often.
Speaker 3 (01:44:21):
So Aby's the man with the plan.
Speaker 22 (01:44:25):
Well, I follow Aby all the social media and I
see his reports with your guys all the time. That's
really it's really good to take it together. So he's
doing fantastics, he's got it so dialed in with yeah,
well it's too rough.
Speaker 23 (01:44:43):
For the ocean, will go slam in the bay.
Speaker 6 (01:44:46):
There you go.
Speaker 22 (01:44:47):
It's good selfish and will go and catch selfish vertical
jiggy and you're slow fished chicken. He's got that so
dialed in, really good with that with the blacking tunas.
Speaker 4 (01:45:02):
We're so glad to jump down to take some time
with us on the program. We want to see how
you're doing and your health. Your health. Okay, you're feeling better.
Hope you're doing better. So you're coming out here with
both barrels. Blazer was sufficient. So we'll see in April
and have a phenomenal weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:45:17):
Yeah, thanks captain. Well, it's really great.
Speaker 22 (01:45:20):

And today what are we looking at?
Speaker 7 (01:51:58):
This is the Blue Nomad.
Speaker 47 (01:52:00):
So first time getting my hands on this thing. I've
heard of the third Long and I've dived before, but
this thing is going to take heist to the new level.
I mean I just think like, I think you can
go around what thirty feet or yeah, this.
Speaker 18 (01:52:11):
Thing is really cool.
Speaker 7 (01:52:12):
As you can see.
Speaker 48 (01:52:13):
It fits right into a backpack and it's got this
long hose that can help you get down to thirty feet,
which I feel like here in South Florida, I mean,
we have so many dives right off the beach that you.
Speaker 15 (01:52:24):
Can go at this thing.
Speaker 23 (01:52:25):
Oh yeah, so you want to test it out there.
Speaker 24 (01:52:26):
Let's do it.
Speaker 18 (01:52:27):
Take care, always have to spit in the mask.
Speaker 8 (01:52:29):
Oh it's cold, really cool.
Speaker 23 (01:52:32):
Oh it's cold too, and get this.
Speaker 48 (01:52:35):
It comes with some several things in this package should
make it so easy. It comes with on top of
the floating blue nomad. It has a pole already with
a dive flag attached to it, so you're not carrying
around like a lot of gear to go diving. You
can honestly fit everything in here and just bring your
mask in fins.
Speaker 47 (01:52:53):
I'm pretty sure you could put this in one of
those cubbies at the airport, you know, like on a plane.
Speaker 3 (01:52:59):
So it looks like it. It says a travel case
as well.
Speaker 48 (01:53:01):
It is travel friendly. TSA will not be pulling you
over for this guy, so just imagine.
Speaker 18 (01:53:06):
This all right, let's talk through it.
Speaker 48 (01:53:08):
I'm patty certified, thank god Vin since I was thirteen
years old, thanks to the parents. But it's really pricey
to get certified by your gear and everything.
Speaker 37 (01:53:16):
This is something that you don't need.
Speaker 48 (01:53:18):
To be scuba dive certified for. And when it comes
to how much you're gonna be spending on your certification,
all the gear and everything, this is gonna.
Speaker 47 (01:53:26):
Be a better offer for you one hundred percent. I'd
rather learn with this than have to go through a
bunch of money courses. You know, at least I can
see if I like diving with this exactly.
Speaker 48 (01:53:36):
This is going to be your go to present right now.
