fascination with that fish? I love that fish. They look
like they just have like big cheeks, extremely a very
small brain, extremely small brain, and it's very slow. Okay,

We ran into a whole school of them.

Well, this guy was hanging around.

We were fishing a deep wreck and this guy was
hanging around the deep wreck and we pitched a live
dogwhites him and he went ahead and ate it.

It was a nice kobea there.

It was about the twenty one pound kobe right there.

So I had a question for you, gotta be yeah,
go ahead.

Yeah, do you do you go out in the sun
a lot? Because this photo here appears like you're black now,

big spines and it can wreck your boat, right pretty much?

Yes, yeah, yeah, so pretty much.

When we when I recatched something like that, I tell
the customers to get away from the fish and to
the mate clubs and right on top of the head.
Those guys got some serious serious spines on, you know,
dorsal spines that would cut you up real good.

What do you recommend to a really waddy ass fishing
client on board? Hey, yeah, man, get close to that
fish and let's get a photo. Well, he flap them. No, no, no, no, no,
no no no.

I tell them to get away from that fish and
to that fish is completely you know, knocked out.

Okay, well you told me later on. But there's some
great eats I have every you what I've ever had? KOBEA,
oh yeah, that's probably one of the best. He said.
It's probably the best tasting fish in the right. Toby
is really good. It's like white meat too, It's like
white white, super white meat, super white. Yeah, you don't
steak him, you fully him?

Yeah, I mean I think you could do both. I
mean they're they're thick. I mean you could steak them
if you wanted to.

Well, just so you know, that's a Robert loves for
like fishme. He tells his clients we fisheds like five
yellow tail. He goes line them up because I want
to filly them all for free. I'm just having to,
Oh my god, what's your finalc full? Like fish rock?

I know it's kind of crazy, but if anything was
going out and it's kind of stuff today, do you
think they have a chance to catch something out there
is blowing pretty well? Oh?

Speaker 8 (09:11):
Absolutely, man, especially when when the weather is kind of
rough like this, you got you know, less people out there,
and you have more chance of catching a nice you know,
the sales have been around the area also, So today
is a good day to send out those kites and
you know a couple of flat lines and you know
you're definitely catching fish today.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Yeah, I agree. Is it like may supposed to be
like one of the hottest bunch of fish? I mean,
if about a book a charter like on the Real
Sanity for example, hint hint, Yeah, isn't make coming up
to be a really great bunth of fish? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (09:43):
Yeah, I mean spring springtime is always a great, great
time to fish, man. A lot of these fish they
spawn at this time of year, so you have the
big females out there, you know, big big sized fish too.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
All right, man, So that's pretty much covers the whole territory,
I think.

Speaker 9 (09:57):
Yeah, I mean, I think all it all. That's that's
really what's happening right now. Blackfin, yeah, bahi, And I
heard the bottom fishing is pretty good.

Speaker 8 (10:05):
So bottom bottom fishing has been insane because now we
have a nice I don't know if you guys have
seen them. There's huge schools of mullets right now, just
just rolling in.

Speaker 7 (10:14):
And uh, the other day we were yellow tailing and.

Speaker 8 (10:18):
We saw a nice, nice, big old school mullet man
and there was, believe or not, there was a mutton
snappers coming from the bottom.

Speaker 7 (10:25):
Just take working hits at these guys.

Speaker 8 (10:28):
So we started catching a couple of these mullets and
we caught a couple of these mutt snappers.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Are you serious up the bottom to hit that school
on top of the bar.

Speaker 8 (10:36):
Yeah, they were like the mullet was forty feet of
water and you can actually see them, the muttons coming
from underneath.

Speaker 7 (10:42):
And you know, there was not only muttons, it was
all the predatory fish there at carbon you know.

Speaker 8 (10:47):
So we caught a couple couple of mutton off to
the school of mullet.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
And this was this was during yellow tailing, you were.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
This was during a yellow tail trip.

Speaker 9 (10:57):
Yes, so you were anchored up and then the yellow Yeah,
we were acted up.

And and the Yeah, so we were anchored up and
all of a sudden, there's this huge school of money's coming.

You know, towards the boat. As they passed by us.

Uh, you can see like all the territory fished though
and there was a couple of sharks, there was there
was everything on these guys.

Like everything you could think of.

You know, guys, I just caught up the fifteen pound
largemouth the other day. I mean it just kind of
came on there.

Unlike you and I, he does not brag. Oh I
that's why I love it. Yeah, he's humble. He's humbling. Yeah.
So anyway, go back to your charter and to think,
what do you what do you? What are you hunting
down today? Man?

So we're we're going for clown knife fish. I got
two guys from Virginia. I had him yesterday too. They
went for snakeheads yesterday. It wasn't too bad. It was
it was you know, it was a struggle at first,
but they went on. They started started getting more bite.
You know, the bite started picking up. One guy got

one nine pounds, so that was that was nice. Yeah,
which that fish probably was a double digit at one time.
It was a very skinny fish, probably like thirty six
inches long, but it was it was a real skinny one.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
But it was it was still a nice fish.

Speaker 25 (20:30):
Weighed nine pounds, probably was over ten at one time,
but it's the bite's been it's it's been up and.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
Down for them this week.

Speaker 25 (20:38):
It's some days it's good, some days it's you know,
it's it's it's struggle. It's they're kind of trans the
things of transitioning. Right now, they're starting starting to see
a lot of them to spawning now, so they're kind
of getting out of the summer looking to feed. Some
are looking to you know, make babies. So it's there's
kind of a transitions under a ledge of a canal

or whatever.

They were like free swim, but they always tucked up
at hiding ready to ambush something.

Speaker 25 (21:10):
No, they they will free swim. You will see them cruising.
You will see them cruising the banks, and usually when
they're doing that, they're either feeding or they're looking, especially
this time here, looking for a mate to spawn with.
But usually if you see them doing that, you can
give them if you cast the right way to kind
of lead them, kind of throw in front of them

(21:32):
when you see them. Most of the time they'll hit
and they usually strike pretty easily most of the time,
but there's been times where they just keep swimming.

Speaker 9 (21:40):
They don't even look at what you throw, So Yeah,
we would see them rolling like Tarpin. Really, yeah, you'd
see it like in Lake Idy. You'll see them rolling
in the middle of the canal, just like Tarpin do.

Yeah, rolling snakeheads. Yeah, a video next time of that. Yeah,

Yeah, I mean occasionally you'll see them. They'll they will
do that. I mean a lot of times they do
come up for air because they're air breathers, so they're
you know, you'll see their head come up out of
the water at times. If you if you've got to
really sometimes look at it, you got to really pay
attention to it.

They're air breathers. You didn't know that.

summer time is gonna be coming up once the oxygen

where you'll see them come up every other like two
to three to five minutes. They'll come up if the
water is just really low in oxygen. Why they can
live in such nasty you know conditions, nasty water, they

have that ability to breathe air. No, I've seen them
I've seen come up constantly. I've seen them come up
constantly at times during this, like when the water is
in the nineties the water temperature, you'll see them constantly
come up for air at times.

That's gonna be cool to see man coming up for
a gulf of your whole batch them. Yeah, man, So
I get Corey back to this for the brand new
folks of the audience. So, snake as are an evasive
species down here, and they're all over the place to
be caught. You can't cook them in swiftly grade eats.
But when you're using your Roden reel, what's your basic
heavy pound test? Because us a pretty pretty heavy line, right.

can use lightline. I use fifty to sixty five pound braid.
And some people think I'm I'm insane doing that because
they don't think it's there's any fight to it, But

I've had giant ones or just big ones in general.

more than fifty yards of life, you know, fifty yards
of line. So yeah, because if you use a shallow school,

but they can be caught. We've been catching the peacocks

cool stuff, because it's it's all happening in May.

First group of seasons starts.

So a lot of great for anybody off shore fishing
especially it's it's probably the best.

Time of the year, you know.

Speaker 35 (36:32):
Black fin tune is you could leave the dock at
four o'clock and come back by dark and catch all
you want pretty much anytime next five or six weeks,
and that's fishing. Of course, you load up with from
any of the any of the live bait guys. Jimmy
Lewis or Pedro's brother Frank right there in the inlet,
loads up with pilcher to get out there and sprinkle
him around, grab a beer, throw out all the rods.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
I just wait for him to start singing off.

So yeah, so that's probably the surest thing always plus afternoon,
really good shot of big dolphin coming down the edges
and any kind of edges that push in Look, you
got a beautiful east when east breeze and it'll push
those those current edges in shore.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
That's if I give a tip at all.

Speaker 35 (37:12):
It's like, you know, a lot of these guys want
to go dolphin fishing and they leave the dock and
then they start trolling. You know, like what you know,
why would you start trolling in the inlet or why
would you you know, why would you just start trolling?

Now you always just pick it up, run to the southeast,
stop the boat every ten minutes, scan the horizon with binoculars.
Don't go past any weed line or any rip outside
of two three hundred feet of water. And you want
to have to go out too far, you're gonna find them.
So that's the off shore fishing.

I remember, you know what man, man, I remember you
know reading, I always I read about all the crap
everybody says. You're like, oh yeah, you see something float
and go buy it and troll by it. Wait a second,
I just plump and stop.

Plump and stop drow some pilchers. Wait a second, well,
stop drown Some pilchers took one. Then you, whatever it is,
you tie it off to the side of your boat
so you don't get mugged. Right, because any anything, when
you're off shore, if there's a boat stopped, you run
his way unless he starts waving a white waving a
white flag, then you go the other way because that
means he needs help. So but anybody stops offshores in dolphins.

So you've been around the block with all that stuff.
So yeah, reward fishing fleet, two big boats, three trips
a day. Let's see what else. Locals, grab your fishing ride,
you go fishing four hours at the ocean for fifty
