Speaker 2 (00:16):
Holy Beer, battered Banita walcome to the number one radio
social media fishing show on the planet, brought you by
the number one boat dealership at all of the US
of A Nautical Ventures. Marina might add, so, going back
to the word benito is spelled b O n I
(00:39):
t o. But people say, hey, man, I got a
banita on You ever call it a banino? No? Right,
you call it a banita, but it's spelled benito. Is
that n nto? Old Jojo? You're quiet?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
What made you come up with that?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Just because my brain is wateringlessly?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
No?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I just you know, so let make what's happening please.
We had great pow wow with our great friends at
nine forty. We have an amazing relationship with nine forty
Radio and great friends Grace and Todd and Jeff agree
that give us kind of a radio kiss. We're being
broadcast Sunday morning, nine to eleven AM. So the show
that's happening today is actually happening right now on Sunday
(01:22):
and Sunday, which is tomorrow. Is today. We're on Near
Live for tomorrow, tomorrow tomorrow, but today we're on tomorrow
and tomorrow and today. That cool.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Well, what if like today.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Intertwined with tomorrow? Right, would the show still air tomorrow
or today?
Speaker 6 (01:40):
What do we called to tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, you know, I'm out. I'll see you guys have
a good show.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
I'm looking with the stream here. I don't see the
stream most Steve O.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Well, your phone's off. I see it.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Is there a stream running? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:52):
Yeah, are we out here?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Let's talk fishing guys.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Anyway, So it's our very first chance to do our
first calf of the morning. I think, because we're making
a big impression of this brand new audience, you should
bring Jimbo on that very special Joe Hector only what
you do, man?
Speaker 6 (02:06):
But then, didn't you forget something?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Eric? Forget what man?
Speaker 6 (02:10):
You said you wanted to do something right at the
beginning of the show.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I probably forgot what that.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
I you know, we jive.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
Well, you know, Eric's like eighty years old, and it's
great working with an old guy, you know, and.
Speaker 6 (02:25):
He's not here to defend himself. Yeah, and that's how
the show goes.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
That was off of your podcast Feet with Johnny instead
up for Johnny Jakes. I found that you listened to the.
Speaker 6 (02:35):
Show Joe, that guy, Joe Hector. That is wrong. You
do that, man?
Speaker 7 (02:41):
I mean calling him eighty years old. You're off by
Tenny's ninety.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Oh. I could not defend myself from either one of
you idiots. Bring m a great show. Though, great show.
We'll check it out letters.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Do you like it?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah? I loved it. Bring out Jimbo. Clock is rocket.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
Here time to change subject and now here we go.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
His name.
Speaker 8 (03:04):
Jim from the Land of Jimbo.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
He's a charted guy in the ocean. He's a captain
of Jimbo.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
Shoe Catch a little Tuna, Eat Tuna.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
It's a tuna show with them.
Speaker 9 (03:25):
We just lost all of our new listeners.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I mean that on myself so bad. I didn't copy
another song.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
It wasn't bad.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
It was my own thing off the top of my head.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Well that's Jimble his opinion about it.
Speaker 9 (03:39):
I think he loved it, and he's right.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
The Sunday audience is wanting what am I listening to
right now? Okay, Yeah, they're they're a little freaked out there.
Speaker 9 (03:50):
Explain that they're not sure what they're doing. Is this
a fishing show? Worri bo?
Speaker 6 (03:58):
What happened to the church show?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
To day? Buddy walking back to the big shell here?
How's your week?
Speaker 10 (04:05):
Man?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
What's going on? Dude?
Speaker 9 (04:07):
Well, the week's been our right, it's been blowing though
a bunch this week. Not terrible, but it hasn't been
real calm either. Fishing's been fair, you know. We had
last week the fish was really good because we had
a lot of current. The water was real blue. The
last couple of days we've had very little current. The
water's been good, so therefore the fishing isn't as good
(04:30):
now when we get out there this morning, maybe that
current's running the fishing spectacular again. But we have been
catching fish regardless, not just us but everybody sailfish bit
it's been fairly good, you know, depending on where you are.
Like last week it was better up off Miami Beach
(04:50):
for the most part, and the last couple of days
has been better down south of Fowley Light. That's because
the conditions have been better down in that area. Again
today it might be right out in front of government
cut who knows, and then the east wind has had
a fair amount of dolphin pushed in, not many big ones,
(05:11):
but enough to make it worthwhile. We haven't been out
chasing the dolphin. We've been letting them find us on
our live baits that we've been fishing under the kites.
And then there's been some decent black and tunas mixed
in up to thirty pounds roughly the last few days.
But the problem with these tunas, it's not a problem
(05:33):
with the tunas, it's a problem with the sharks. The
sharks have been eaten a lot of these tunas, and
these sharks are getting trained. They're sitting right under your boat.
They know the sound of the boat. They relay that
to the dinner.
Speaker 11 (05:48):
Bell I guess.
Speaker 9 (05:49):
And when you hook these tunas or a kingfish or
any fish that you're going to fight down deep a
little bit, there's a good chance of these sharks eating
your fish. So a lot of these tuners are getting eaten.
If you watch your depth machine, if you're out there
in the next couple of days and you got live
baits out along the edge of the Gulf stream, watch
(06:11):
your depth machine. You'll mark these big marks under the
boat constantly and these are those sharks just sitting under
the boat and they are they're just eating a lot
of good fish. And you know, these tunas aren't something
that you just winch into the boat quickly. You got
to fight them because they're good sized fish and they
(06:33):
pull and if you get a big king, the same thing.
So odds are these sharks are going to get them?
And especially if you're fishing around structure like a rex
like off keep this game, there's a whole bundle of
recks we call the county res If you're in that area,
there's a very good chance you're going to get eaten
by a shark your fish there.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
So, yes, are they trying to lobby to now maybe
try to control these shark explaining like a shark harvest
some kind or a thinning or a culling, because this
is about a problem now for almost a decade. They're
not endangered over here at all or anywhere else for
that matter. Lobbying, yeah, there's.
Speaker 9 (07:19):
It would take more than a weekend. So you know,
it's not that there's more sharks. I mean, there obviously
are more sharks, but there's not more sharks out today
than there were twenty five or thirty years ago. It's
just these sharks are unmolested and they're getting trained where
(07:40):
be twenty five or thirty years ago, people were catching
them and they were killing them, which I'm not for really.
I mean, I'm not for them eating my tunas, but
I'm not for just indiscriminately killing them.
Speaker 12 (07:54):
But they were.
Speaker 9 (07:55):
They were getting killed on a pretty regular basis twenty
or thirty years ago, forty years ago, so they never
had a chance to get acclimated and trained. Now, these
same sharks have been out here for who knows how long,
and they're hanging out in those same areas and that
boat comes and they're like, oh, that sounds like that
(08:17):
thing that brought those tudas to me the other day.
They sit there and they hang out favor back.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
You try to use the word unmolested in a different
way as opposed to saying that on the ear. It
sounds like sounds a little promish man like they're unmolested.
You mean like they're under other cat caught or whatever.
Speaker 9 (08:33):
Yeah, they're uh, I'm under let's see, they're under fished underfish.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
There we go.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
That sounds better than molested by far. But thank you.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
You just said it three more.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I was saying, Man, okay, I'm just talking about what
he said anyway. So back to the top of the show, Jibo,
I said something about holy beer battered banita. Right, do
you pronounce me as bo and I t o or beanita?
How do you say it on your boat? Hey, I
got a video online far left line or whatever. Say.
Speaker 9 (09:04):
I think it's spelled b O n I t.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
A beneath I checked chat chee et this morning. Okay,
bdita is like Banita springs, Florida.
Speaker 9 (09:14):
Does I A know about fishing ai? By the way,
it's not I A fat too. See, I don't know
anything about AI or e i O or whatever the
heck we're talking.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
About about molestation, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
There it goes, Is that the word?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oh? So this show is now on Sunday morning broadcast?
Speaker 13 (09:35):
Not anymore?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
So we're on Sunday here on Saturday. Okay, Just everybody

Man?
Speaker 2 (16:41):
He is a snakehead record holder. Man. Great guy for wait,
wait a second, I don't.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
I don't know, because some guy recently got a monster
and I don't know if that's the new record.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
We're gonna have to talk to Corey.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
We'll ask the man, Corey Noah Kowski on line one, Corey,
you wanted to buddy boy, Hey brother, good morning.
Speaker 11 (17:02):
How are you guys doing well?

There's that super happy, the lucky, energetic boost filled how Corey.

By the way, Corey, before we start, I just want
to say I really appreciate you sharing the tournament on
your media.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
That really did help out. Actually we had guys mentioned that,
so thank you.
Speaker 11 (17:19):
Okay, Okay, good good. I'm glad that helped out.
Speaker 9 (17:22):
Glad.
Speaker 11 (17:23):
I like glad to contribute to some you know some
in some way.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
That thanks Ago.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
You're the man.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
So explain what Joe said. He heard some guy may
have broken your record or is that just more Joe
of this information as usual.
Speaker 11 (17:34):
No, it's it's there's probably it's probably going to be
the new record.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
It's well, Joe, Yeah, appreciate it.
Speaker 11 (17:44):
If you yeah, if you heard of the way it
was seventeen to one, that's the You're going to be
the new fifteen and a half.
Speaker 6 (17:52):
Oh my gosh, man, Corey.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
I know you want to. Yeah, it was you like
that record, buddy, I know for a fact you are
going to try to go ahead and do that due together.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
He's got some work to do now, Oh.
Speaker 11 (18:05):
God, yeah, well yeah, you know yeah, I mean it's
you know, it is what it is, a man's record,
and records are meant to be broken, and you know,
it happens, and uh you know, it happened to me
once before and I did get it back. This will
will be tough.
Speaker 12 (18:22):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 11 (18:22):
It was a It was a very large fish. I
will say it was a very fat fish. If you noticed,
if anybody's seen the pitchers, so it was. It was
a fish that was more than likely being fed by
somebody in the back in their backyard.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Could have been a pinned up a record possibly.
Speaker 11 (18:49):
I mean, I don't, I don't. I don't know if
that's the case or because there's there's been a lot
of times and I've caught fish, not record fish, but
I've caught giant fish that have been you know, because
there is a lot of residential canals and lakes, so
a lot of people feed the fish in their backyard.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
It happens.
Speaker 11 (19:07):
It's it's happens in a bunch of different areas, and
you know, it's a possibility that it was just somebody's
pet and you came across it. I don't know, but
it was. The fish was thirty seven and a half
inches long. From what I was, what I seen, what
I was told. Normally, a fish of that length weighs
between eleven and a half twelve and a half pounds.
So fact that the fact that it was four pounds
(19:30):
more than it usually is there's you know, or five
you know that's usually a.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
Wasn't named Rose o'donald.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
We're supposed to be our best behavior today today to
aelic behavior. Okay, wait wait, so I passed that, you know,
but I'm sorry about that. Corey. Uh, that record can't
be broken by you, officially, not with a pod fed snakehead.
Speaker 11 (19:58):
Joe, Well, I don't no, I don't know if it
was or not. I mean, I mean, I will say
it was getting fed in some way. I don't know
if the guy. I don't think the guy did it,
But it's just I only say that because I just
I've caught so many of those fish, and I've caught
him so many of that size. They're not that way.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
So essentially.
Speaker 5 (20:18):
What you're saying in a nutshell is you don't think
it was like in like a pen being fed.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
You think it was in someone's backyard in a canal being.
Speaker 11 (20:28):
Fed or la.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
And a guy just came across and went, oh, look
at this fish.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
Okay, I think.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Caught it Joe's. But really that's what I think. That's
even more anyway, Wait, I got it, So we got time,
hardly time here, so we can't.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Last one last thing, one last thing, Go ahead, Corey.
I also noticed, like with that fish, is it me
or did it? Does it also resemble a arapaima the
way it looked with the head and the even the
the girth And if you put that fish next to
(21:05):
like a picture of an arapaima, they it Actually it
doesn't have the.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Colors like the arapaima does.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
It's got that funky head and the girth and the length.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I'm telling you man that.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
I mean maybe these snakehead grow when they get like
full sized, they have like an arapaima.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Aren't you overusing the word girth a little bit much
of the show girth? Did I say that? It's just
the connotations also said.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Oh, thank you, thank you for ruining the whole conversation with.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
My pleasure anything I do it believe me anyways, Sorry.
Speaker 11 (21:42):
Corey, No, no, you're good. I mean it would yeah, no,
it was. I mean the width of that fish or
the girth of that fish was it was. That's what
made the fish. I mean, that's why it waited as
much as it did, right and and it yeah, it
was very similar to that. I mean, it's when they
what happened is the thing was probably layered and fat
because it's just been getting fed, you know, constantly over time.
(22:05):
So it's just that's how they get what I've the
ones I've caught the past. That's how that's all layer
That's what they all hasn't there. That's with all having
their stomach. It just layers of fat. So yeah, rock the.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Clock, Corey. But tell us how the week was for you? Man?
What's a large mouth peacock? What else do you have
with your tasty uh?
Speaker 11 (22:22):
Snakeheads? Big time? I will say I did get one
over sixteen pounds last Saturday, So I'm getting there.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Close, Corey.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Can you can you uh send me a picture of
that because I want to see what it looks like
compared to the seventeen pounder that that guy called yeah
with how how thick it was like you were.
Speaker 11 (22:43):
Saying, oh it was it was. It was similar like fish.
It was a similar type of fish. It just had
this it was super fat and I don't know, I
don't know if I found the same lake or it
was just a different body of water, but it was
a giant fish. I probably I had five fish that
day that weighed seventy and a half pounds hot. It
(23:04):
was insane.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Yeah, it was inane. Even the brand new listeners this
Sunday morning on the show, or hearing a guy catching
fish that weighed that much, even day the new folks
have got to be impressed by that number. That is.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
It was insane.
Speaker 11 (23:17):
It was probably the one of the most insane and
I'm sane a lot, one of the most insane snakehead
days I've had in a long time.
Speaker 10 (23:25):
It was.
Speaker 11 (23:25):
It was pretty crazy.
Speaker 9 (23:27):

Speaker 11 (24:27):

eighteen pounds as a possibility.
Speaker 3 (24:32):

or something.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
This guy, Keep it to this guy waiting on the.

What do you repeat my mistakes? Looks like a Wayne
cod cod on the Reward fishing fleet waiting good morning,
buddy boy, Hey Wayne.
Speaker 35 (30:36):
Hey, Hey, good morning gentlemen. I specifically ask for an
intro to be It's my life. Okay, yeah for l
a woman you forgot please come on.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Okay, I'll sing it for you Wayne next time.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
I promise I'll slap Joe around by the way.
Speaker 36 (30:50):
So all old music man the photos.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Yeah, yeah, I got lucky.
Speaker 27 (30:55):
You know.
Speaker 35 (30:55):
It's like you know, you know what they say about
a squirrel find it at not you know, so I
hear you.
Speaker 36 (31:00):
Yeah, caught fish yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
This fishing week. This week, fish fish this week was
all with you. Wow that yours all just kicked it anyway.
So I saw some great pictures of fish bee caught
in the reward.
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Was it a video or pictures?
Speaker 36 (31:15):
These were both we did. I did some videos.
Speaker 35 (31:18):
I should have I should have done more, but yeah,
we ended up doing a bunch of bunch of pictures
of course, and had some great fishermen on the boat.
I had professionals, guys that are captains come fishing with
me and uh and the fish bit really well for us.
We were able to move around, hop around, and we
caught up a bunch of really nice groupers, all legal.
I think we had nine fish over fifteen pounds.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Nice.
Speaker 35 (31:41):
Yeah, so it's kind of like I'm an nominated catch
of the year for Miami and that's it.
Speaker 36 (31:45):
So somebody beats it.
Speaker 35 (31:46):
We also had Captain Vinnie from the YB Normal he
fishes with me every year. On May first, he had
a twenty five plus pound mutton staffer which was weighed
wow by the Noah by the Noah guy that came
down to res guy's been measuring our stuff for the
last many years that he put it on his scale.
So real deal, twenty five and change of a twenty
(32:07):
five pounds something.
Speaker 36 (32:08):
So it wasn't one of these guestimate fish. You know
what a tank.
Speaker 37 (32:12):
Do?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
We have a video of that fish come to the
boat that he gaffed with. That just a big old
mutton or something.
Speaker 7 (32:18):
Man, I have to look at it. There's a lot
of profanity in that video, so we can't run.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah, all right whatever. Anyway, So a great trip this
week and these fisher body was yes, live bait or
cut bait. Well, you know it's chicks.
Speaker 35 (32:34):
We used these guys a loutible fish, dead base still
fishing like a half a speedo or a chunk of
a blue runner. And the whole key to we were drifting.
We didn't do any anchor fishing. So the anchor fish
you can kind of wait them out if you have time.
I mean, there's times always part of it.
Speaker 9 (32:51):
You know.
Speaker 35 (32:51):
I'm lucky that I know the bottom really well off
Miami and we can I can look at them, I
can see if they're there or not, and we can
hit them if we're drifting. Drift fishing bottom fishing is
a skill of its own. The whole key is you
got to dump for your reel while the boats drifting
away from the spot, so that mutton snap a bit.
Ben he had out three hundred yards of line off
is reel when the fish bit wo. So yeah, so
(33:14):
it's a it's an old school method. Anybody out there
that is a drift boat fishman will will know. Or
a fish with me or anybody else, I'll tell you
how to mutton fish. You don't learn how to mutton fish.
You better have a reel that holds a lot of
wine and leaving that baylay exactly where you want it.
That's the other key is me getting the boat right,
me telling these guys, look, man, don't move it. No
(33:35):
matter what you move it, they don't bite it. And
you know, you got to have the right people that
understand that style of fishing and the price you have
to pick. And normally sharks eat the hell out of
it because you may have a you got a twenty
pound group or this twenty five pound button there, you're
dragging them while you're fighting them, and the chances of
a shark getting them are incrementally increased. So yeah, we
(33:58):
got really lucky, I don't you know for opening day. Yeah,
for Opening Day. I it's been seven or eight years
since I caught this many on Opening Day.
Speaker 36 (34:07):
But it was really nice. I got got a good
jump on it.
Speaker 35 (34:09):
I was able to able to fish where I wanted
without fighting some little commercial guy anchored on the spot,
which has been happening every year and every year every year,
you know, so I swear it's like I fish against myself,
you know, and unfortunately you know all of you know,
you know, the underlying story here with Lott of fishing
(34:30):
off Miami is that you know, bouncer had all his
stuff stolen off his machine and then it was either
sold or given away. So so every want to be
captain that wants to be, you know, an old sage captain,
which you can't because there's none left.
Speaker 36 (34:44):
But yeah, so anyway, anyway, that's that's the that's the
back end of the story.
Speaker 35 (34:49):
But so we got to hustle around and do what
we do and hopefully get lucky and find the fish
before somebody else does so and it worked really well.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
It worked great.
Speaker 35 (34:57):
And I'm going against Thisaturday. I've run many trips, so
this is i I've run in the last year. I
don't think I've run ten trips myself, so I feel
really good about this one.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
So it's a great trip and congrats and I said,
so on all your catches this week, make good stuff.
Speaker 36 (35:12):
Did cool Man?
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Did you have any kids with you on this trip?
Speaker 35 (35:16):
No? No, no, no, no, we were. We we call iron
Man trips. I've been doing these for almost twenty years.
Reasonable price.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
We lived.
Speaker 35 (35:23):
Left the dock six thirty in the morning, we got
back almost six o'clock wow in the afternoon.
Speaker 9 (35:27):
So uh.
Speaker 35 (35:28):
And it was sloppy, you know, and thank guys in
the big boat, in the seventy foot boat. Yeah, so uh,
I've had this, I've had this little little case of
vertigo here that doesn't go away. So I can walk
straight down the street and I'm in two to three
foot seas so when i'm out there in three to
five it's a trip.
Speaker 36 (35:43):
Man, I'm off the walls man.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Anyway.
Speaker 36 (35:48):
Anyway, gentlemen, look, we.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Got a brand new Sunday Morning checking us out. So
give your a plug a Saturday bright there. We played
on Sunday Morning, so they're all brand new to the show. Yeah,
how do we fast reward? My friend tell us.
Speaker 35 (36:02):
How we're in downtown Miami a lot. We go three
times a day, not in the morning, one in the afternoon,
eight o'clock at night.
Speaker 36 (36:09):
On the weekends.
Speaker 35 (36:11):
A lot of times there's free parking in the Triple A,
the old American Airlines Arena where it's only like six
bucks a day or something. There is cheaper parking there
sometimes in parking inside the other things.
Speaker 36 (36:20):
So you can drop your stuff off at the boat.
Speaker 35 (36:23):
We're right in the northwest corner and go park your
car and for reasonable parking thing and go fishing with us.
So we have live bait available, I'm going to say
almost every day. But the guys that catch the live
bait for us. It's like anny other fishing, so we're
dependent upon them. Sure, so to get out, get a
chance to fish offshore in Miami. You're local. It'll only
(36:44):
cost fifty bucks. I don't know what else to tell you,
but come fishing. You got a kid, bring them.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
For free, so free? Wait, thanks so much man, you
bring great stuff.
Speaker 36 (36:55):
All right, guys, come fishing. Man, let's go into rod.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Yeah yeah, well I can't wait. Oh boy, I can't
wait for this guy. Okay, the days, Jim, just take
it easy, the chief he crew breathe.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
That's cool man, you're cool.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
I'm very cool. You want to be a little PLoP there?
Maybe should I think you should blow them in? Yeah? Okay,
give him the blump man, please, I'm allowed. I do it, man,
do the bloop blow? You got reb blooped there? What
is that? Man?
Speaker 3 (37:29):
It's your old friend Joe.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
Yeah, all right, you're back.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Yeah, Uncle Joe's back.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Oh goodness. Phones on a helium this week. That's great, Jim,
good stuff? Oh boy? Yeah? Shall we be first?
Speaker 10 (37:44):
They first?
Speaker 2 (37:44):
You know what that means, right, Jim, Jim, get the
phone close to your mouth. You selling. You're nine miles
away dude, come on, bro, are you gonna I got
buddy best, I got a you are you the can?
Where you at? You sitting on the throne where you at?
Speaker 36 (37:58):
I'm actually driving?
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Well yeah yeah, drive rapp crappy signal, by the way,
so maybe stick it closer to your there you go.
All right, So Cob for seasons open, Jim, go ahead,
talk about that. I have some say by the way,
soon May first, May first, Cooper and hawk Fish are
in season.
Speaker 38 (38:17):
The only batting was was very rough, very very rough,
so it limited the amount of guys that could get out.
Speaker 10 (38:25):
But the guys that.
Speaker 14 (38:26):
Got out did okay.
Speaker 38 (38:28):
Uh and the buddy mind Marshall owns Mysa Marina and
he was out kind of near the Boka Inlet and
did well with the hawk Fish and Red Hooper. Yesterday
the Lady Go Diver. They went out and they got
a not Cody, Cody that works at the dive shop,
(38:50):
Dixie Divers.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
They ended up he got a nice black Cooper about
pubby thirty pounder.
Speaker 10 (38:57):
So that was good. It was good. It's good.
Speaker 38 (39:01):
I think I think they're around. You just gotta just
like anything else, it's all about the drop. You gotta
go typically Cooper Are.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
And Walls okay, or or or occasionally Jim, they're stuck
inside of an abandoned lobster pot on my dead or
loss trap. So I want to talk about a photo
you post this week of you sticking up a sleeping
grouper sitting by his own business in a freaking lobster trap.
(39:32):
And literally that photo, which will put up on screen,
shows the shot went straight through its freaking brain.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Hoole, it was great.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
I knew he'd say that it was great. Okay, what
what kind of sport is that? It was very sporty,
Joe chime, come back? You said you this make it
all right? I come on, show me the back of
the key is.
Speaker 38 (40:05):
I knew that that block your hat fish before.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
So what I was able to do?
Speaker 38 (40:14):
I looked inside and there's a there's there's a black grouper.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
So he's done.
Speaker 17 (40:18):
The only thing is humane facing.
Speaker 19 (40:20):
The other way.
Speaker 38 (40:21):
So I was like, okay, so I give skill involved Eric.
This was not you know, you just take some you
throw it down with a look.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
And catch him.
Speaker 10 (40:32):
I mean this you had to.
Speaker 9 (40:34):
You had to spear.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Them the brale jumping Joe. Joe, offer your opinion about
that poor sleeping fish trapped in a little space he
couldn't get out of, all right, waiting to have his
next meal before the brain hole got invadive with the spirit.
Speaker 5 (40:52):
Now, all right, first, Jim, you know I always back you.
I'm always on your side. Yeah, get to it, man,
I mean you know, I I'm not I personally, I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (41:07):

Speaker 3 (41:08):
I'm not show.
Speaker 5 (41:11):
If it was me, listen, I I'm I'm a true hunter,
right like, I'm all into like the fight, right, get
to it, man. I kind of feel like, you know,
he's like it's stuck in this little trap and he's
not looking at you, and you know you kind of can't.
Speaker 38 (41:32):
The keyn't know that's where I felt that spot so
many times I do.
Speaker 10 (41:42):
And the wash there.
Speaker 2 (41:45):

Speaker 3 (42:16):
Whatever happen, I wouldn't even use the gun.
Speaker 5 (42:18):

Speaker 7 (43:12):
There's another book to getting a proper speaker phone for

Speaker 2 (43:16):
You might want to read Garbage Going to Ride the
clock Man and they have a great weekend and Joy
Joy Joy dispatching poor sleeping thirty pound groupers that reminded
their own business and came up there. I feel that
with one shot through the brain hole. You know, you know,
you chick it down entirely. I just said, I don't

Well.
Speaker 42 (49:48):
The Marlins fell to the visiting Athletics on Friday night,
six to one. The A's are now eighteen fifteen. The
Marlins are twelve and nineteen and have unfortunately lost six
in a row, dating back the second game of a
series in Seattle last weekend. The starter for the Marlins
on Friday night was Valente Beyoso. He went four and
two thirds innings. He allowed five runs. Gunner Hoglin made
(50:10):
his Major League debut for the Athletics through six innings
of one run ball, striking out seven and not walking anyone.
How about Dane Myers. Myers hit his third homer of
the year. It was a rocket to write center field
in this one in the bottom of the sixth inning,
and Dane Myers has been swinging a hot bat. Max
Meyer will tell the rubber for the Marlins on Saturday
(50:30):
afternoon against talented right hander Usvaldo Beido for the A's.
It's a four to ten first pitch at Loan Depot

Speaker 2 (52:28):
Of fun the water right now, he is, no, but

Shot?
Speaker 3 (52:48):
So Sean tell us about it.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
How did they go from start to finish?
Speaker 12 (52:54):

the water buddy boy, kayak or boat today? Oh?
Speaker 11 (54:16):
No, vote for sure.
Speaker 12 (54:18):
It's like ten foot out here right now.

(01:05:34):
you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
Genty?
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Yeah, all you have is a great coach called Pete Carrol.
That's it. Otherwise that team is going nowhere. Okay, see
you anyway. So Benny's fishing charters. Are you guys on
the water todayither, Betty? Yeah, Yeah, we're on the water.
Speaker 47 (01:05:48):
We're out here at the boat ramp right now at
the fourteenth Street Alsdorf Park boat Ramp and Pompino got
both boats out here picking up some trips.
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Going to go do some fitching today and watch the
Aaron C Show here in Fort Lauderdale while we're in
some tunas.
Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
Hopefully very cool.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
I know. Sean Rolls said it's like eight to ten worries,
but I'm not sure where he's fishing. Joe papla what
else he at? Pompting popping, popping, popping. Yeah, he's he's
always at a pompton. That's a pompeding boy. Eight to
ten miles an hour no, even Caesar like Rufford Hills.
Speaker 6 (01:06:15):
He said, Rob six whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
I don't know, Steve whatever. I mean, you know four
foots feel.
Speaker 47 (01:06:23):
Like eight's in a kayak.
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
Actually he's in his boat. Ben He just so he
makes it okay. So no, Sean knows a message.
Speaker 6 (01:06:33):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
If anybody could handle it, he could. Yeah, he's a
macho man' What are you targeting? What do you like today? Yeah?
Speaker 47 (01:06:40):
I mean we're going to do some tune of fishing today.
Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
We got some live bait.
Speaker 47 (01:06:42):
This wind's gonna help us break out the kites and
get a nice spread out. The black fin's been showing
up pretty thick, so go out there find some good
blue water. Has been some decent current. Uh, there's also
been a few kingfish starting to show up in the mix.
And you know, we still got some random passer by
mahi and wahou's. So we're looking for some act and
like I said, we're gonna enjoy the air and see
show today hopefully while catching some fish, catching some.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
Rays and doing what we do here at Benny's Fishing Charters.
So cool, Joe. So seeing the blue angels fly by
those eighteens, sixteens, Yeah, and just buzz it by with
a big loud ass sound those jets big right, yeah,
and catch a fish the same time. What a nice experience.
Speaker 6 (01:07:21):
Man, How many years they been doing that?
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Forever?
Speaker 6 (01:07:24):
Twenty?
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
Right? More?
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Yeah? At least? Yeah? Well, Benny, I guess you're at
your hands full, buddy. So we have a brand new
audience show on Sunday morning, and man, I've ever heard
about Betty's Fishing Charters. Tell us exactly how to get
out your boats to this brand new folks we're talking to.
Speaker 47 (01:07:38):
Yeah, give us a call anytime. Nine to five four
seven zero six six five six five is the exact
number to give.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Us a call.
Speaker 47 (01:07:46):
Mention Fox Sports, Eric Brandon and Joe Hector and you
get a free hour added to your trip.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Mesk. One last question, Benny. So, we had a winner
who won a bucket from me start from Starbright, Okay,
and one of these two knuckleheads asked her a question
that Joe did, so, which one of the two are
the scariest?
Speaker 43 (01:08:01):
That was me?
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
I asked that you asked that question, and she said
the guy with a good hair basically picking on me.
So I give her a prize and she still throws
me under the bus seting on the scariest guy you
are and you're a figure. Is that a very kind
thing to do to a guy like me? Really? Seriously?
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 47 (01:08:16):
If someone's giving you a Starbright bucket, you know, I'm
gonna I'm gonna just pretend I like them either way,
you know.
Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
But if she if you're giving your Starbucks bucket and
she still this is you that, what's that tell you?
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Yeah? It means a lot. That says a lot.
Speaker 47 (01:08:29):
I mean, sometimes sometimes the truth needs to be said.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Her possibill I have one thing, Okay, the washmit with
nothing else. Okay, that's what's gonna be.
Speaker 6 (01:08:37):
That's just wrong. You can't do that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
I could do whatever you want to do.
Speaker 6 (01:08:40):
You gotta sit at a sealed box.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
She sent you had nice hair, but.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
A scary face.
Speaker 6 (01:08:45):
Whatever, man, scary face, he's a scary person.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
Whatever. Man. Have a great weekend, Betty, have a time, buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
Panthers, Benny Benny.
Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:08:55):
So is there any of the jumbos coming through like
the thirty pounders.
Speaker 47 (01:09:00):
Yeah, I mean they're starting to trickle by. They're starting
to trickle by. That's the goal for today. We're targeting
some bigger fish here. We got some bigger live dait
stuff like that. So that's gonna be the goal of
some jumbos. And usually whatever I talk about with you
guys on the show seems.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
To you know, seems to happen the same day.
Speaker 47 (01:09:16):
So hey, Captain Eddie walters real addiction, passing us by
heading out for a quick chart of this morning the
boat rams packed here and Pompino this morning got all
the heavy hitters out.

Speaker 5 (01:09:51):

But I will talk to him now. Yes, why don't
we say? Hey? So the show right now, Sunday morning.
I've fough sports on a Saturday. So today's tomorrow and
tomorrow's today, walking over brand new fans Sunday morning of
Fox Sports. Norman, you're talking a whole new CRUI so
(01:15:09):
make make it sweet, baby, make it sweet? How are you? Norm? Ah?
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Yeah, yeah, let's just get this going.
Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
Nothing changes the happy mood of Captain Norm Bickoff read Yes,
Norm is happy Normhouse of fishing buddy boy.
Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
Well, I'll tell you it's been on and off.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
The large the large amounts of.
Speaker 49 (01:15:33):
Flying fish that we've been seeing here, uh.
Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
Has has largely disappeared.
Speaker 49 (01:15:40):
So uh, that's really been I think that's been a
factor here this week. Not a lot in the way
of the fishing that we've seen before.
Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
Very few, my mis. Uh.
Speaker 49 (01:15:57):
There's still some tunes mostly in the afternoon. H if
you want those fish late in the day. I mean
don't be afraid to leave the docket, you know, four
o'clock and fish right until last light. And and that's
when that's that's your best bet. Uh, your tunas are
coming on live pilters, that's you drifting with live pilters.
(01:16:22):
That's really your best bet for catching tunes later on.
Speaker 36 (01:16:24):
In the day.
Speaker 49 (01:16:28):
So, uh, there's been a few sales around. Of course,
grouper season opened up. And the funny thing about that
is I saw zero reports on groupers, none, which tells
me that they're biting.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Because yeah, all right, yeah.
Speaker 49 (01:16:48):
I understand what I'm saying. Because usually when people are
mutton snappers and yellow tails and all kinds of other
bottom fish, you.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Know, they're they're pretty.
Speaker 49 (01:16:58):
You know, they're pretty, uh, tell me about it, and
they'll let everybody know. You go online and you see
all these uh you know, Facebook groups, these bottom fishing
Facebook groups and that kind of thing, and all your
buddy posting pictures and everything else like that. But all
of a sudden, group of season opens up and everybody
(01:17:19):
shuts up, and that tells me. That tells me that
the groupers are are doing pretty good. Now, did you
guys talk to Wayne conn this morning?
Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
Yet Yes, we did monster muttons.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
Yeah, a lot of dog.
Speaker 49 (01:17:34):
That's my dog, Vinnie twenty five and a half pound mutton.
Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Man twenty five and a half pound.
Speaker 5 (01:17:41):
Mutts saying what you aren't listening to him this morning?
Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
I just want to hear that again. Just so huge
I caught that, Joe. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 49 (01:17:49):
So if you're if your bottom, if you're bottom fishing,
your group of fishing, muttain fishing, you know you want
to you want to target your deeper wreck, your deeper structure.
Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
Now deeper structure, man.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
I think Norm's going in and out. But Norm, uh
is he talking?
Speaker 32 (01:18:10):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
He's not talking Norm with catching muttons.
Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
I know a lot of guys use extra long leader
correct when they're uh, when they're fishing off the boat.
Speaker 49 (01:18:22):
Absolutely, it's important.
Speaker 3 (01:18:24):
What kind of setup would you use?
Speaker 49 (01:18:28):
My typical bottom fishing setup is a very like I said, like,
just like you said, a minimum of a thirty foot liter, gotcha,
and depending on what kind of structure, usually around forty
pound okay, forty pound floral. H What I like to
(01:18:50):
do is I like to tie in a small a
small swivel, and then ahead of that swivel, I'll have
h a sliding I'll have a sliding swivel, and there's
a dropper loop on that swivel.
Speaker 36 (01:19:09):
Okay, okay, And do with that is.
Speaker 49 (01:19:12):
I can change out the size of the weights that
I use.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Gotcha, there you go.
Speaker 49 (01:19:17):
Okay, So that way, you know, I can gauge what
weight I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
Going to use depending on the current m I get
another class from the Norm Becaf School of Fishing right here, Joe,
like Norm gives you the answer that informative Norm. We
got to rock the clockhole of buddy. But hey, you
want to have a Captain Deb. She's not following you
in a show. This is her new slot. She's right
after you, buddy boy, So your good friend Deb is
(01:19:42):
right after you, probably on the horn right now as
we speak.
Speaker 36 (01:19:45):
Yep, all right, sound good, hey Deb?
Speaker 49 (01:19:49):
Anyway, that's what's going on in Proward Captain Norm, run
that dog.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Run that dog. Thank you Norm very much.
Speaker 6 (01:19:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
So to her brand new time slot on a Sunday morning,
on a Saturday, which is actually Sunday, I might add,
you got that freaking out.
Speaker 6 (01:20:06):
Living on sponge cake watching her foot ache sing.
Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
She's got a broken foot, by the way, kept what
I will ask her right now, cap deab, good morning
to you.
Speaker 6 (01:20:19):
I kept deb ye how boys house is going going good?
Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
So you broke your tootsies there? What happened to your foot?
Speaker 6 (01:20:27):
Kid?
Speaker 44 (01:20:29):
I was.
Speaker 20 (01:20:32):
Coming down and.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Broke dep We're gonna call you right back. Your father's
flaking out. Okay, you got a little bad connection there
in the old key, so we'll have Jeff give you
a ring right back. Okay, So she broke her foot
doing something that was the whole story. I caught that
by way. I want to go back to that girl
(01:20:57):
that threw me to the bus called dude.
Speaker 6 (01:20:59):
Are you kidding? You need to leave that alone.
Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Man, I just want to go back and revisited why.
I want to know why she's going to be scared.
Speaker 6 (01:21:05):
It's all about it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
The scariest guy at a show A compliment.
Speaker 6 (01:21:10):
You do look like chucky.
Speaker 2 (01:21:12):
You look like something I can't even say.
Speaker 6 (01:21:14):
On the show's say it's not Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
Ye throw I got something to throw you after the.
Speaker 6 (01:21:18):
Show waiting waiting.
Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
Anyway, see if caps back of the program, dev are
you back with us? There a young lady I think
she is. Here's something there she is, Deb, You're I'm
here I'm here now, we're better. There you go, kiddo,
tell us how you broke your foot is You're like,
go ahead.
Speaker 32 (01:21:41):
So I was on the way to go fishing. I've
got a new job in Marathon, and I sailed down
my condo steps and broke my foot.
Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Wow, there's already alcohol evolved or straight up with coffee.
Speaker 32 (01:21:53):
I was sober, and sober can be. That's probably why
I fail.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Oh, it's probably right. You know what shows a couple
of drinks, you probably well. I hope your foot feels better,
deb but this is your brand new slott it which
gonna work better for you because you're timing with your
your business. You're doing whatever. Ell so glad to have
you at a time in the show, what's happening the
fishing planet and the keys there, kid, fishing.
Speaker 32 (01:22:18):
Is really good right now. We're catching a lot of dolphin.
There's a lot of dolphin tournaments around. You know, it's
grouper season. A lot of big blacks on the deck yesterday,
a lot of big backs. So that's there. Muttons are
still really banging it out down here, and I'm sitting
(01:22:39):
here watching tarpin and rolling my canal.
Speaker 2 (01:22:43):
Oh. All right, very cool. So, I mean, are things
getting more busy? I always thought May was a great
month of fish, Joey, thatcially my favorite month of fishing
all time, way.
Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
One of the past.
Speaker 37 (01:22:54):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
Do you agree that May is a great time of
fish in the keys? There, cap deb.
Speaker 32 (01:22:58):
Yeah, it's definitely one of the best to come down.
It's the weather's good. The only thing really about May
you really have to worry about is those afternoon thunderstorms.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 32 (01:23:09):
So as long as those afternoons thunderstorms stay away, then
we should be okay.
Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
I feel like all summer though, we get those, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Yeah, well the summer ranges have not kicked it yet.
What they do? We'll have a nice slocky yeah show here.
Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
Yeah, man, Well so any.
Speaker 50 (01:23:28):
Mahi ad there's been a good around absolutely.
Speaker 32 (01:23:35):
There was one call here that was fifty two pounds.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
There we go. Very cool. Hey, don't have a question
for you if someone were to ask you, Oh no,
who's the scariest host on this show? Eric? What's show
for me? We are get talk fishing. Who would you
say would be the scariest guy on this deck? Right now?
Is everyone's told already?
Speaker 9 (01:23:55):
Who?
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
Even I came quit Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
Wa't you're that one, buddy?
Speaker 7 (01:24:02):
Well, Dev is being nice because she's just being nice
because you know, you go under the bus a week
or two ago for not being there, so you so
I smell some kissing going on here, but you know,
let's keep it real here.
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
Okay, she said, the scariest guy to show you there.
Do you feel better now, Eric, Yeah, he feels so much.
Speaker 32 (01:24:23):
Do you feel puffy and everything?
Speaker 45 (01:24:25):
He's so scared?
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Yeah, puppy and the ugliest guy to set no more.
So I really appreciate it very much. Anyway, Dev, have
a great week a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
Wait, wait, I got another fishing question.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Well, go ahead because we have Yeah, we do, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:24:39):
Okay, how's the bottom fishing?
Speaker 2 (01:24:41):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
All around, Captain Dev.
Speaker 32 (01:24:45):
I think everything's pretty good. The grouper, the mutton snapper.
Now we're catching mutton snapper and shallower water. So there's
two different kinds of mutton snappers, two different kinds of environments.
One lives in shallow water, one lives in so I mean,
we we have different breach that we fished. So I
think everything stood and bottom christ has been very good.
Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
Good.
Speaker 6 (01:25:09):
Okay, that's a good question.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
I want to know all right, very cool man. Well,
dev I get that foot of years better, feel better.
I'm glad you want to show this new slot. Love

you know, well, there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
Yeah, I think it makes any better?
Speaker 3 (01:34:15):
Is your hair right?
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
The sea is the scariest guy with great hair. That's
a great confliment. But anyway, I'll get off me now,
shall we not? Jed. She's got a great face and
a great hair, so she's got all going on. Oh yeah, here,
Jed is a little glustery's a little blowy. Couple of
caps said, it's got a choppy offshore. I heard Raymond
be coming. Tell me what we should know about the
weather there.
Speaker 50 (01:34:35):
Rank, Yeah, you will be dodging some shower. Today is
definitely a better day than tomorrow. But do you have
a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Today? Sunny with
a heer eighty four southeast winds ten to fifteen sees
two to three feet in her coastal waters and moderate chalk.
Tomorrow seventy chance of showers and storms, mostly sunny, higher
(01:34:56):
eighty three south winds five to ten seas around two
feet inner coastal waters, a light chop and the keys.
Today's flight cancer showers Sunday with the hinder eighty five
east southeast winds there fifteen knots sees two to four
feet in your.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Shore water is a moderate chop.
Speaker 50 (01:35:12):
Tomorrow and the keys thirty percent cancer showers and stores
most of Sunday hin in your eighty six southeast winds
ten knots seize one to two feet near shore.
Speaker 3 (01:35:21):
Waters a light chop.
Speaker 50 (01:35:23):
And in Florida Bay today east southeast winds ten to
fifteen Bay waters the light to moderate chop with isolated showers.
And tomorrow on Florida Bay southeast south winds near ten
knots Bay waters a light chop scatter showers not bad.
Speaker 2 (01:35:36):
Just so you know, Jen, we have this one time
favorite of nine forty won z. You're replaying the show
Sunday morning, so actually we're saying we're live here Sunday morning,
although we're doing a show on Saturday right. Anyway, it's
a brand new audience. Check out the show. Tell them
about your Destination Dive show, because I want folks to
really know more about what you're doing with the whole programs.
Go ahead, wow, talk about it.
Speaker 50 (01:35:56):
You've actually just getting me to do this so you
can take so.
Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Jen knows you. Yeah, please, uh.
Speaker 50 (01:36:10):
No, I host a show called Destination Dive. It's on
Discovery Channel and it starts airing I believe in August
on the Times aren't quite sure of it, probably Sunday morning.
But anyway, we focus down in the keys of all
the great trailblazing works that they're doing on uh coral restoration.
Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
Uh.
Speaker 50 (01:36:30):
Everything from planting new corals to these new efforts to
shade corals underwater to protect them from the far sunlight
and warm temperatures, to people picking up lobster traps that
have been abandoned that are on the bottom of the ocean.
Like I mean, people are doing all kinds of stuff
down there. And what's great about it is it's it's
(01:36:51):
trailblazing work that the rest of the world is actually
watching and mimicking.
Speaker 36 (01:36:55):
So it's very cool.
Speaker 6 (01:36:56):
To be a part of that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
Is so cool she actually do it. I call this
ocean conserva or yeah, you know, just saving the planets
great resources.
Speaker 50 (01:37:04):
It's ocean conservation. Yeah, it is probably the primary tone
of it.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
Yeah, I love this.
Speaker 5 (01:37:12):
So I don't know if you know this, gen, but
I used to sell I was a coral essentially salesmen.
Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
I had my own business selling.
Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
Live coral for people with like reef tanks, long story short.
We were contacted years ago by a guy who had
an idea it's called aquaculture cool, where people would grow
coral in their tanks and then they would frag those
corals and then they would replant them out in these
(01:37:39):
reefs that were destroyed.
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
I've seen that very cool. Only he never had no
gen was something called brain coral. He never had a
chance to grow those because they well, you know.
Speaker 50 (01:37:50):
What's interesting is they were growing the staghorn and elkhorn
coral on all the reefs because they're the fastest growing coral.
But what they found after the the harsh bleaching that
took place last summer that actually the brain corals are
the resilient ones even though they grow smaert and they've
figured out a way to grow them faster and the
(01:38:12):
partiest coral.
Speaker 16 (01:38:13):
So it's really cool what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:38:14):
Brain coral, as you just said, it's the fastest, heartiest one.
She told me. They reored you great show man. It's
going so well, Jeded, thank you so much and all
the great efforts you do on the A great show.
And though thanks Jan huge on ocean conservation. I hate
seeing the coral resent bleach and died great for that,
So thank you a good very much. All right, so
(01:38:36):
let's do here's Johnny because he's all right, baby, Johnny,
our great friend Johnny Seville has agreed to swamp spots
with deb Cool. He's on the show now, Johnny, my man,
good morking to you.
Speaker 3 (01:38:46):
Hey, Johnny, good morning, good morning, good morning.
Speaker 37 (01:38:49):
How you guys doing.
Speaker 5 (01:38:50):
Let me just say before we get into it, Johnny,
I really appreciate all the hard work you and Laura
did for the tournament. You guys were awesome, especially with
you know, some of the back end stuff that was happening,
and you guys, you know, took the reins and took
control and you guys are awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:39:09):
I love you guys.
Speaker 6 (01:39:10):
Thank you.
Speaker 37 (01:39:12):
Well, don't get used to it for next year, because
we got a sponsorship opportunity to actually fish the tournament.
Speaker 3 (01:39:20):
WHOA.
Speaker 37 (01:39:21):
I'm sure you guys know of a company called Swivel Pod,
but uh.
Speaker 12 (01:39:25):
Boomer offered me.
Speaker 37 (01:39:27):
Boomer offered me a kayak to fish the tournament next year.
So may I have to jump in and do that
at least one year and show.
Speaker 3 (01:39:34):
Everybody that'd be cool?
Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
How cool is that? Johnny? Still Bill?
Speaker 6 (01:39:39):
We can still get Laura.
Speaker 3 (01:39:40):
She'll come out help.
Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
On that civil last pod three sixty Okay, yeah, with
a sponsor kayak by Joe. I mean she'll go there. Okay, sorry,
Bloomer Gozalez. Can you imagine Johnny be in that tournament.
I don't know who'd beat him. I just don't know who.
Speaker 5 (01:39:57):
You never know, man, Listen, this happened in my saltwater tournaments.
Speaker 52 (01:40:03):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:40:03):
And I know it's totally different.
Speaker 5 (01:40:04):
But we had a guy that was a helpoat in
my tournaments for years and.
Speaker 6 (01:40:08):
He got an opportunity. Okay, he ended up fishing and
he was like, I got this, you know?
Speaker 3 (01:40:12):
And he yeah, And I know, you never know.
Speaker 6 (01:40:16):
You never know.
Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
Johnny's got a year to play it. So but Johnny, don't,
don't under restorate the professional that he is.
Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
Like, well, Johnny knows that lake probably better than anyone.
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
He does. He knows spots. Johnny, how's your week been
prior to I guess the show? Anything biting this week
has been has been for you?
Speaker 37 (01:40:32):
It's been good. The water level in the Everglades is
the lowest I've ever seen, and it's so dry that
I can't even launch my boat at some of the
boat ramps that I want to launch along Alligator Alley.
It's wow, so incredibly low. We've been fishing another portion
(01:40:53):
of the Everglades a little bit further south, kind of
like in between Alligatory and Tammyammy Trail. And yesterday we
pre fished for a tournament. We caught twenty one pounds,
which is a combination of five largemouth bass.
Speaker 11 (01:41:12):
So it's a pretty good day.
Speaker 37 (01:41:14):
And we fished a tournament tomorrow, so hopefully we can
get another big bag just like what we got today
or sorry yesterday. And otherwise, charter fishing has been pretty good.
There's plenty of fish fighting. When the water level is
low like this, all of the fish are kind of
(01:41:34):
concentrated in the canals, so it makes for fun, easy fishing,
whether you're using light tackle, big big baits like we
were using for the largemouth bass, or even fly rods.
Fly rods are a lot of fun out there. He
catch a lot of fish on a fly rod.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
It's so strange, Johnny. For weeks and weeks and months
of much guys, we're complaining about how high the water
Wasn't the glades Joe, Like, oh, I got it so high?
It is so high. Yeah, I wish the water manager
team would run off some of that water. Now look
at it low stuff because no rain, so you can't
have it. I guess your way, like right in the middle.
It's either too high or too low. Johny, I'm not sure, buddy,
you know, I mean, you know it's.
Speaker 37 (01:42:12):
Good when it's low. You know, it's kind of scary though,
because guys are ripping off their lower units.
Speaker 52 (01:42:19):
And you said scary, Well, there's the Everglade canals are
lined with giant rocks, limestone rocks from when they dynamited
those canals out in World.
Speaker 3 (01:42:32):
War two era.
Speaker 19 (01:42:33):
Wow.
Speaker 37 (01:42:35):
Yeah, so it's you know, it's just it's a dangerous
place if you're not familiar with it. People cut corners
on some of the turns, and you know they ripped.
Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Their lower unit off.
Speaker 37 (01:42:46):
Saw it half the last week and pretty crazy, Yeah,
I mean pretty much.
Speaker 2 (01:42:56):
That's why after that you go to loicalfasures and repeler
your boat. It's not they have brand new motors with
those who rip off their lower units and totally destroy
their motor not going to venture to put you into
brand new motors, So don't worry about it. Yeah, sure,
those chipper captains will be hit a couple of super
duper happy to.
Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
Go and just get another motor at Via Motors.
Speaker 9 (01:43:16):
A big deal, drop a quick fifty grand.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
Yeah, not a problem at all, man, it's pocket change
those guys. Oh my good. So some of the big
species that have been turned on this week. You seeing peacocks,
large mouth, snakeheads, combination of the whole deal.
Speaker 37 (01:43:32):
Dude, we pretty much caught every species you know this
this week. And what's great about fish in the Everglades
this time of the year is you can catch up
to ten species in a four hour charter, which we
have done. We did it a couple of times this week,
which is really cool. You know. On the flip side,
like Ida is fishing so horribly right now. Luckily there
(01:43:56):
was some good fish caught for the tournament last week,
but it's all the baits are super small, all the
fish are tucked way up. You can't really find any
any good fish. You know, we're not seeing the numbers.
So it's been an Everglades week and you know, so
out there, you know you have the opportunity to catch
(01:44:19):
a double digit large mouth. So you know, everybody always
complains that the exotics have ruined the large mouth fishery.
There has been more large mouths in the Everglades this
year than I've seen since I was eleven years old. Ye,
So it's it's just it's a good place to fish.
Check out the Everglades and stay away from Lake either
(01:44:41):
of this.
Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
Week, Sorry, Joe.
Speaker 5 (01:44:43):
One not thing real quick, of course, is so earlier
when we talked with Corey h he had the snakehead record,
which we I guess we think it might be broken.
Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
Don't go this long, what do you think, Joe, It'll
take two seconds. One.
Speaker 5 (01:44:57):
His theory was that that sneake had was like fed
in someone's backyard in a canal.
Speaker 3 (01:45:04):
Do you agree?
Speaker 37 (01:45:06):
I said the same exact thing that somebody that was
somebody's pet fish in a pond, and they probably fed
it chicken wings and hot dogs and other fish, and
you know, they just got it up to a point
where it was so big. Then either some kid came
in and caught it, not knowing that it was some
(01:45:28):
you know, person's like pet fish and waited.
Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
But you know, I mean, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 37 (01:45:34):
It's a huge fish and it'd be I would be
ecstatic to catch one, even if somebody had hand fed
it all the time and it was so big. But
for it to count as a state or world record
actually is crazy because it's like a pet fish, you know.
And and until they cut the stomach open and see
the stomach contents, we'll tell them if it was a
(01:45:57):
fish or a fish that was naturally forging, or a
fish that was eating chicken wings and hot dogs.
Speaker 6 (01:46:03):
Can you imagine?
Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
Nice short question, Joe nice, We cut it.
Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
Open, a bunch of chicken wings flyout.
Speaker 2 (01:46:08):
Every pretty funny. Yeah, what they like for Hooters? Or
what the hell Johnny got to rock the clockmaner, thanks
for good mud for thanks Johnny's brand new Slott and
you're the man. Thanks so very much, man, appreciate you.
Speaker 37 (01:46:18):
No worry, guys, we'll see you next week.
Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
Take a little breaking back with the toy chest and
rep to sucker up. Man. It's seven. I can't give
