the name. Gosh, she's called the Summer Slam.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Thanks, Yeah, I called it the best ride of last Nimes.
Some silly name, but anyway, that's our saltwater on the
Summer Slam. Anyway, got a great show. I had today
cover up a lot of captives and great news. That's
a fish. You talked a few caps last night. Yeah,
we picked up May. Seems to be the month, Joe.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
Thanks turn around, that's what the big black finn rolled through.
The kingfish are coming in.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
You can ask every captive day just how deep they were, Joe. Yeah,
that's something you never used before in the show ever, never, ever, never,
How deep? How far were you?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:53):

tell that later on. Yeah, we'll dive in. I was
talking to the mother of all first guys in the
shoot every weekend. It's your ter amazing Jimbo. I did

(02:39):
it last time? Oh come on, man, really yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Remember I did an epic one. It was short sweet oh,
Bo said Joe.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
That was just set on the screen. Jimbo's and Guatemala.
Does that mean he's not on the phone or he's
on the phone. That's strange. I never got a note
that he was going to Guatemala. Hey, Jeff, is you
have the photos out of reach? He's out of reach?
Well okay, then that's uh uh curveball every one this morning.

(03:08):
But we can always play a rod.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, okay, we go Happy Mother's Day to him. Hey,
by the way, you guys having a fish off this morning.
I saw you made Eric bring bread. Yeah, and then
Joe's got some cool rod. I mean, what's going on
with that?

Speaker 4 (03:23):
So we're gonna go old school today.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
So I was thinking, okay, we're gonna take the bread,
mold it up, into little balls.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
All right, he said balls.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
I said balls.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
And I got a rod for you, all right. I'm
gonna let you use the big one, all right. I
have the big Yeah, I'm gonna let you use it.
I no, I have the big rod. I'm gonna let
you borrow it.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I would never want to touch your rod.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
And I'm gonna use I'm gonna use this awesome, brand
new little rod that me had just caught an epic
snakehead on recently. And uh, it's a new company they contacted.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Here comes this ship comes and it's called it's called
worm Gear.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
And it's pretty cool because these rods are also made.
Even though they're the little, the little ones, they're made
to catch bigger fish.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
And I like it, you know. And I put an
awesome little.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Diawa rod on there or reel on there with some
uh twelve pound braid.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
And I'm gonna catch some some fish today.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Did you mentioned maybe, uh what brand the manufacturer put
the line on their joe? Is it it's an anti line?
Is it turbo line? What line is that?

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Joe? Atlantic Bait and Tackle actually put the line on
there for me.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Oh nice, nice, And you know we're gonna That was
the most blatant flipp and chill you have done everybody.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
No, you both had a hand.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
We're gonna do a little fish.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
It's just insanely ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Well, here's the thing. If kids are gonna go fishing, right,
there is nothing better.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
There is nothing better than a beautiful small rod like
this for these kids to carry around. You could put
it in your pocket, right you can, you can like
hold it on your shoulder.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
That there's nothing better or more beautiful than a small rod.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Very nice, Joe, very nice. It was actually blatantly ridiculously.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
What did What did you get Eric to fish with?
Now I'm a little concerned here he might be getting robbed.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Eric is gonna fish with my PowerCore rod made by Warrant.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
You better check that rod.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Well, why don't you invite me to the fish off
before you even throw me into the damn pond? Okay,
I didn't ask me to fish off you today, dude.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
I text you this morning about it at like three o'clock.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Set me bring me bread.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Well that means let's fish.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, maybe you're hungry, you know. No, Oh my god, Eric,
this is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
One does cheese work as well to cheese or bread
to get right?

Speaker 4 (05:53):
They might.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
I don't know, man, that's gonna be one epic failure show.
I think send you two knuckleheads are here. We have
Jimbo Michigan action gifts this morning.

Speaker 4 (06:01):

was it? Puerto Rico?

Speaker 3 (06:06):

to be nice to you for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (06:09):

Speaker 4 (06:26):
By the way, Maria is really mad at you. Well,
I'm not done giving because you give me a gift
of chocolate and stuff and then Mia ends up eating it. Okay,
she's mad at.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
You, Well, she'll like this flips fried chocolate sandwich cookie?

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Aren't those cool? Is I'm flipping you off?

Speaker 2 (06:42):

Speaker 3 (06:44):
It sounds like fort International.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Which will be like I don't want the fried chocolate.
Let me ask you sanwich hooky or do you want
the milk chocolate.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
When you buy these, like you really think that I'm
gonna eat that?

Speaker 4 (06:54):

My buddy Mike back where I work.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
By the way, she sends me a text message, she goes, Hey,
how about a fishing report? He caught the first ten
minutes of the show where Chimpo's a no show. He's
a Guatemala Yeah, never tip me off. He was over there,
And you're right, Mike, there is no fishing information but
there will be right now because we're backing on point.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Even Jeff nine forty sent me a very funny text.
Corey is ready domestically perfect. Maybe give me he's country okay. Anyway,
So he and I chatted last night. Were talking about
a few things about the world of fishing, Yes tell me,
and some Snakehead record stuff we were discussing before and
how it was all done and whatever else. It's kind
of a little controversy going on a little bit, and

(14:23):
we'll shake that rug when it's ready, you know what
I'm saying. Meantime, the guy with the greatest laugh of
the planet, Joe, can you do it? The one, the only,
the man with the plan, the stakeholder, record holder two
or three times over at least.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Bullseye snakehead, Yeah, man, big big snake.

Speaker 19 (14:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
The funny just got Yeah, it's gigantic, man, Corey. No
Kowski in the program, Corey.

Speaker 20 (14:50):
You want to tell you, buddy, Corey, good morning guys.
How you doing.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Cory?

Speaker 2 (14:56):
You know that I had your laugh is something I
really want to mimic because I want to do it myself.
I want to borrow your laugh. You have a great laugh.
Okay to see you know, so that's why I do
it every now, don't take it first.

Speaker 20 (15:06):
No, it's fine, no, no, no, I'm one of the
last people that takes anything personal. So you're good your.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Roll with e.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Very cool dude. So how's your week, pad, what's going on.

Speaker 20 (15:17):
It's been very good. Fishing has been really good for
snakeheads and uh peacock pass Uh we did. I did
get one fourteen and a half pounds last week or
this at the beginning of this week, I should say,
and some big fish hitting, you know, fish on fry,

(15:39):
you know, fish not spawning. I mean, it's it's a
it's a good time, a really good time of the
year to be targeting them right now. And the peacock
gass been popping to had a guy the other day
and he got about twenty five and he got about
two five pounders four and a half so all in artifice.

(16:00):
So it was it was it was a good day.
And and I had him again yesterday for snakeheads and
we got I don't know, he got fifteen and how
the half a day could have got twenty five. He
got the biggest one was like eight and a half nine,
and he got an eight as well. So, man, he
lost when I was probably nine or ten pounds too.
We just before I could get the net to it,

(16:21):
it popped off. So but he got some nice fish.
So it's the bites and good. It's been really good.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Very nice man.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
So Corey, I've always had a problem with one thing,
and it was I never did well catching peacocks on artificials.
For whatever reason, I can catch other fish with artificials.

Speaker 21 (16:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
I don't get it, though, Man, I use like everything
I get.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
It's called working the lure properly. Okay, you pully a wrapple.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
It was a certain way to work that lure. Okay, yeah,
full of chuck bugs way to do that. Okay, there's
ways to Actually we have to work a red jig,
which I use quite often in my fishing world. Okay,
a fast retrieve will pause faster. There's a certain way.
You know, you ain't get across the top of the
water joe in a half hours.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
So back to what I'm asking questions.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
Properly, you don't even let me finish. You're finished, thank you.
Go ahead.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
See now with my adhd I'm gonna lose my thoughts.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
So my question is people are like, are you gonna
do this or what?

Speaker 5 (17:34):
No, My question is, what would you say is for
someone that isn't like fishing for.

Speaker 22 (17:41):
Peacocks all the time, it's not skilled you well, not
not not skilled, but just doesn't do it all the time,
what's the best type of lures to use to catch them?

Speaker 20 (17:52):
I mean you're gonna I mean a bait. Yeah, a
bait that you could use anywhere. It's gonna you know,
you're gonna have a chance of catching them or you're
gonna have success. Him is like a like a hard
jerk bait, like a like an x rap or a
lucky craft pointer the old school or pala you know
those those style of jerk baits with a loop knot

(18:12):
in it. I mean those because the loop knot usually
gives it the free flow in action. He gives it
that when you jerk it, it's gonna sway and it's
going to do its thing. It's going to look like
an injured bait fish. Right, those style, those style lures,
you could catch peacock bass pretty much anywhere any canal,
any lake with that. So number nine, yeah, it's just

(18:38):
the normal rapala knot. It's just you. You make it
where it's it's not the knots not finched up against
the eye of the or the eye of the bait,
so it gives it the gives it that free flowing
of the bait, so it could actually, you know, so
it moves naturally, because sometimes when you have like a
normal knot and it's sinched up against the eye of
the bait, it does than allow it to move freely.

(19:02):
So that loop knot, it's it's pretty simple. It's just
like an overhand nod. You kind of put the the
end of the line through to twists around the main line,
bring it back through and just kind of sense it
just kind of you pull a real slow just so
it doesn't get all the way up to the eye
of the of the bait. That worked really good.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
He just made job about notts. I've actually tied notch
to the lawyer's corey, and I'm wondering why the lawyer
is not doing the right movement. Okay, and if I
use a standard fisherman's not it's just not working properly. Yeah,
so I'll change to a different kind of knot, maybe
a loop knot whatever else. Yeah, he starts giving that
really cool free play. It's interesting, right, let's it really
paddle like they're supposed to. I don't think we ever

(19:43):
talk about that.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
How the knot that you tie to the lord, it's
very important.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Yeah, the play of the lower Yeah, exactly right. We
learned something new everywhere, right, think about that. Everything's news.
Actually a great point. You brought up a mind Yeah,
very rare, okay, thank you.

Speaker 20 (20:01):
Yeah, I mean, like, uh, snake heads. Snake heads, I
usually just tie a polymer or not so just because
that thing never slips in.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
What's that?

Speaker 20 (20:10):
Uh, just a normal So the polymar is just it's
like a double it's like a double loop or like
as not an overhand knot, but it's like a double loop.
Take the sins, then you put it through and then
you it's a really it's it's a nott that it
cinches up against the bait. But in a lot of

(20:30):
instances with snakeheads that you don't have to worry about
having that free flow. You just you got to make
sure you have a knot that's going to hold up
so it doesn't break off or slip. With how powerful
they are, especially like that one I got the other day.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Oh my gosh, that was so thick man.

Speaker 20 (20:46):
Yeah, that was a forty in fish. So that fish
like that, it's pull and locked drag, So you got
to make sure you got the knot that's going to hold.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Up the right check with jet Cheep Cheap naming the
top three notch Yeah, and it actually daved everyone. Corey
said they improved the clinch knot, the polymer knot, and
the loop knot. So yeah, he named the top three.
The chat cheapt said he is the one to use.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Now, it's cool.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
I've seen some guys on camera, some fishing guys on Instagram. Yeah,
and actually paused and actually show you how to tie
these knots, like George Clark Junior and the Keys d
a very cool segment on his Instagram page. Right, and
they'll post a Tiger Now not of the week, so
you can really learn a whole lot.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Oh that's cool.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
I mean, these knots are really pretty intricate, you know
what I mean? Yeah, because I get it. It's hard
to like say it and then you do it, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Describing the radio, yeah, it's hard.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
We do a great job describing things, but really you
need to see it visual things, right, Yeah, right, Corey,
what's the hot spots of the week, buddy boy, Glades,
local canals or what's going on.

Speaker 20 (21:44):
Yeah, it's mostly local canals and lakes. That's that's where
I was getting most of the peacocks and the snakeheads
out in the Everglades today. So we're gonna go bass
fishing waters super low out here, so hopefully we can
get a bunch of bass. So it's been popping off
out here.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
So well, I know, anywhere being the two time record
holder snakehead guy, knowing it was broken recently by whatever
the case may be. Is that official yet it's not
been certified yet. Okay, so you're probably on a mission
to go ahead and break that record, to get that
thing back because you want to have that pride obviously
take it backward belongs.

Speaker 20 (22:22):
I'm thinking, you know, I mean if I mean, yeah,
I'd like to break it again. I mean, I've only
done it eight times, but.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Only Joe Corey.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Does it really piss you off of that other guy
beat you with a bigger record now and you're like,
You're just like, damn it, nothing, I'm really pissed off now.

Speaker 20 (22:44):
I mean, you can I was a little miffed at
it at first.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Yeah, I feel it.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Man, I was miffed, which we usually work mythed on
this show a long time.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
But this guy is a world record champion and this
other guy takes it away. I would be pissed.

Speaker 21 (23:00):
Man.

Speaker 20 (23:01):
The only the only thing. And yeah, I mean I'm
kind of I mean, I'm kind of over it now.
I mean, it is what it is.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
But I mean, if I get it again again, I
would eric.

Speaker 19 (23:12):
I know that.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Sure.

Speaker 20 (23:13):
No, I mean it's not that if I get it,
I get it if I don't, But.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
You really you do want to you want to beat
his ass again, right?

Speaker 20 (23:22):
I mean, well, I'm just I'm just interested. I'm just
interested to catch a fish that big again. You know,
that'd be that'd be cool.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
I mean, I mean, I think would be the worst
psychotherapist to go lay on a couch with, because he
would just like playing all these demonic things of the
patient's brain. Like you know, you want to go ahead
and going be a slasher. Okay, you bought your boss
pissed you off. Oh here's what you want to do?

Speaker 4 (23:45):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Yeah, Well, you know I.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Am a therapist because I have to deal with YouTube
every Saturday.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Anyway, Corey very cool man.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Yeah, it.

Speaker 21 (23:55):
Is what it is.

Speaker 20 (23:56):
It's a record. It's well, we'll see that and that's
all you can do.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Here's the next topic, chicken wings.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
I got one more question. I got I got one
more question. He would do a big hard last That
was a hard one.

Speaker 20 (24:12):
That was like just like, well, i'll put it. I'll
put it this way. Hopefully that wasn't caught on a
chicken wing or a piece of food. I just thought, like,
so that would be pretty pretty well.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
They opened the belly. But look at what's the side,
which I know think it will do. They'll find out
what the voodoo we do do that's weird.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Yeah, yeah, real quick. One question, Corey, one last question.
What sized leader do you use for your big snakehead.

Speaker 23 (24:39):
I don't.

Speaker 20 (24:40):
I don't use leader. I used straight braid.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Yeah, oh, straight braid.

Speaker 20 (24:44):
I got to yeah, yeah, I mean you could use it,
you could use leader, I mean, but I don't really
do it. I just I used straight break because I'm
using like sixty five pounds braid, so you know, but yeah,
brek yep, fifty five yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Or play around job yeah horse, yeah.

Speaker 20 (25:05):
I mean I'll tell you that one I caught last
week at fourteen and a half. I mean that thing
was pulling me around like it was twenty pound break
So it doesn't really even matter.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
And what do you use a medium heavy rod? Heavy?

Speaker 21 (25:19):
Hea?

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Heavy? Man? Pretty much? He don't.

Speaker 20 (25:23):
Yeah, they but like I said, like I tell people,
they still fight there. That fight's not going to go away.
So because I've had people say, oh it kills the fight, now,
they'll still pull you around, pull the boat around.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
So it's not the end of the world. Man, Sorry,
thanks so much. Man, we learned a whole bunch of
this segment.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
Man.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Thanks, Gon, We appreciate you. And go out there. Personally speaking,
I want to see a break your record and break
this other guys thing he's temporarily holding onto. So good
luck man, tear them up and bring that record back
for the ninth time. Yeah man, Thanks Corey.

Speaker 20 (25:52):
All right, have a good weekend, guys.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
See it was just keep wording. He says, something like
for them, oh the work.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
He was miffed by the way, guys, it was myf
I know, Eric, if you guys had a world record
and somebody took it you, you would be pissed too, right,
I mean, come on.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Any competitor would be pissed exactly.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
I would know I might use the word I'd be
very miffed, thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (26:17):

Speaker 24 (26:30):

Speaker 2 (26:30):

Speaker 3 (26:34):
He's an air, he's a broadcaster.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
A gym bar joe banging bozo, there we go bozo. Okay,
I haven't heard that word. The Simpsons throw your broadcaster. Okay,
steroid boy, you need to stop clowning around. I could
speak clearly. Okay, Oh boy boy.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
I've been a broadcaster since nineteen twenty five. Okay, young man, you.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Know I used to be back in the day. You
would just be even more passive now an extremely aggressive Okay,
no not. I think it's roid rage kicking.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
I really do bad.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
You have Reid rage couple out here, love, take a
little walk through the break here, you can walk it off.

Speaker 4 (27:13):

it on there better.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Fishermen, do you have to Did you put a hilt
on your thing?

Speaker 2 (32:13):
He ted it not the wrong way. Let's talk to
a guy who's tired a lot of notts of his day.
He knows every not even don notts for that. Really,
he goes for that back way back. Okay, Wayne Connon
the reward fishing fleet. Go ahead, Steven, do it. CON's
coming out on the Okay, heyway.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
There we go.

Speaker 36 (32:35):
I'm good, I'm good, quick, quick, don not story, it's
it's a related one. I got stopped one time. We
were running back from a fishing a Lauderdale tournament. We
ducked inside, came through Hollywood, and I bumped the boat
up a little bit. When I saw the cop I
brought it back down.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
I didn't.

Speaker 36 (32:53):
The signs are a little ambiguous. You don't know if
you can you can go?

Speaker 4 (32:57):
It says no way.

Speaker 36 (32:58):
Does that mean you can go thirty miles an hour
or not?

Speaker 10 (33:00):
Anyway?

Speaker 36 (33:01):
The bottom line was this skinny marine, this skinny marine
cop whatever in Hollywood. This is this is many years ago.
But he ended up doing a complete safety check search
on it's cost a six grand. We were in the
top top five or six in the tournament. Yeah, we
couldn't get back to the tournament in time. So the
guy was with us, the guy that paid, was paying everything.

(33:23):
He said, what are you Barney without a bullet? I mean,
if you remember, If you remember, Barney was not allowed
to get put. He could wear his gun, but he
couldn't get a bullet unless Andy told him he could
get his bullet because he kept shooting himself in the
foot and stuff. So yeah, Eric, anyway, anyway, we weren't fleet.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
We are.

Speaker 36 (33:43):
We are sitting here. I am ready to pull out.
I figured i'd talk to you guys first because I
don't have to. You're driving a boat this morning. Yeah,
we got a ten twelve hour trip. We got a
bunch of hardcourse fishermen on here that are all excited,
just like me.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
So sweet.

Speaker 36 (33:57):
It looks great, It looks great. We have caught quite
a few nice fish in the last week. You know,
our last iron Man trip a little over a week ago,
we caught a whole bunch of nice groupers and big
muttons and stuff. But that was then this is now.
It's like I tell people. They they'll you know, people
look at your catch and they'll go, oh, we're going
to do catch those this afternoon. I'll say, no, I'm sorry, man,
those are dead. We got to find a live fish.

Speaker 19 (34:18):
So we're not going to.

Speaker 36 (34:20):
Necessarily catch those. We will not catch those again. So anyway, Yeah,
we had arguably one of the best bottom fish catches
off Miami and I cant tell you how many years
last week. So I'm not going to try to top it.
And it's going to go out and do my thing
and let's see, let's let's see what the good graces
gives us today. And with the ocean decides it's going
to let up for us.

Speaker 37 (34:40):
You know.

Speaker 36 (34:40):
That's the way we got to fish out here.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Wayne, what do you what were you catching? We got
the catch up.

Speaker 36 (34:47):
We caught eight or nine big gag groupers. We had
several some big muttons. The biggest mutton was almost twenty.

Speaker 38 (34:54):
Five and a half.

Speaker 36 (34:55):
That was on a no other deal five and a half. Wow,
Now it's the real deal. I haven't I haven't seen Uh,
I'm trying to think I haven't seen a mutton. I
called one about ten years ago. It was two inches
longer than this one that weighed the same, So twenty
five pounds. As a man, I've seen a ton of
twenty two pounders shoot, but anything bigger than that for
a Miami mutton. For Miami mutton, that's about it. I

(35:18):
can only think of one I've ever seen. It was better,
and that was forty bigger, and that was forty years ago.
And I think that guy lied.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
So so wait, wait, you do it, an iron man trip.
Describe what the an average iron man guy on your
boat is. It's some kind of big, hulking bodybuilder guy.

Speaker 36 (35:33):
Yah, man, I got to relieve, dude, dude, no no, no, no, no, man.
I got frontline guys that vertical jake, slow pitch jiggers.
They got great bring wahoo trollers. Uh, it's the real deal,
you know. We we do get live bait. I got
two live bay Wells on this boltry of rock. I mean,
we kitefish, We do all kinds of cool stuff. I'm
not doing that today, but we're gonna be focusing a

(35:54):
lot on the bottom fish today seeing what I can do.
But great fishermen, young guys, it uh they actually uh,
they actually are very considered respectful of me and think
I know something. So that's kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Wayne. Do you see a lot of Johnny jigs in
the cabin box out there?

Speaker 39 (36:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 36 (36:13):
Well the Johnny jack guys. Uh, you know, we've had
the old the jigging companies do a whole trips with
us before. So we're about ready to do another one here.
I gotta I gotta talk to those guys. Let's get
another one going here, So very cool, any Yeah, but
we've caught her here, dude, I even ran. I ran
a swordfish trip vertical ticket last was a year and
a half ago. We didn't get a bite, but it

(36:34):
was a hoot. I mean we went out there and
tried and uh, guys were throwing hron man. They looked
like crowbars with hooks on on.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
You know.

Speaker 10 (36:41):
So how long?

Speaker 4 (36:43):
How long is the iron Man tripped? Any? Wayne? All day? Longer?

Speaker 36 (36:46):
I'm leaving right now. Yeah, I'll get back in by
about five thirty, I'd say, so, yes, long water man.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Yeah, well they And by the way, it's blowing pretty
heavy out there. White, maybe these guys might take a
little drama meters up. It's it's pretty Yeah.

Speaker 36 (36:57):
Well, it looks like it looks like about fifteen, not
something like that.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
I'd say that.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
So anyway, I only can jalk about the hair wind gage.
If the hair of mine moves an inter or two,
it means just blown over ten miles an hour, because
my hair just never moves.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Okay, just we know that it's locked and loaded.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Okay, White, have a great trip, a great iron man
day man, buddy, Thanks.

Speaker 36 (37:21):
Way, guys, Reward fleet out of Bayside, three trips a day,
fish Amiami dot com.

Speaker 38 (37:26):
Hit us up.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Let's go fishing, guys, Ohea, guys thirteen years of age
and younger, go free with daddy. How about dad? All right,
thank you Wayne. Let's go under the seat. Joe, you're
going to flip him in there, body clip.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
He has a regular seven effects making machine with her. Buddy,
do you like that? Nice man?

Speaker 2 (38:01):
Let's freaking the guy who's not catching bugs because bucks
season is closed. I guess all you have to do
the left is just a sneak shoot things now, sneak
a group of trap robster trapped, okay, a sleeping group
of a come on, come on, that was just dispatch
his ass Okay, because that's you're still on that over man,
I'm not getting over it dispatches ass while he's just

(38:23):
sleeping away doing nothing. But man, hey, Jim, man, I
think you want it, buddy.

Speaker 38 (38:28):
That excellent excellent?

Speaker 3 (38:30):
You know, Oh my god, do you get anything to
get off the night?

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Jim, Jim, you get the helium photogap hang up, will
readial and call you again. He's the only guy to
show that's got the freaking nit troks phone connection.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Why does that happen?

Speaker 2 (38:47):
I just think it's Carter coming back to buy them.
And he asked al for shooting all these fish in
a brain hole there. Actually, God's paying it back.

Speaker 4 (38:56):
You think all those fish are waiting for him.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
If you believe in car when he goes back, he's
going to be just speared bite a billion spears through
his brain hole for the rest of his life.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Okay, yeah, So what's gonna happen to you with all
the fish you killed?

Speaker 2 (39:12):
I'm going to fish heaven. They love me, Yeah, right,
fish heaven.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Can we can we not use the word k I
L L? Can we stop on that? I said the
word dispatch by the way, but anyway, somebody said K word.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
He's back just back in the horn here, Okay, Jim,
you're back.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
I'm back.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
I'm back there you go.

Speaker 4 (39:29):
Hey, let's let's go for the good news.

Speaker 21 (39:32):
The goods is we're doing well.

Speaker 38 (39:34):
It's warming up down there, like seventy eight degrees, not
too bad, so you know that that eighty degree mark
for all you locals, it's coming up or almost the summertime.
And uh, actually, you know around here a Broward County, Ish,
Palm Beach County, Ish, we've been getting some grouper black groopers, onesies, twosies,

(39:58):
nothing spectacle. They're you know, they're not loaded up Key West.
I had some buddies down there. They literally slayed them,
slayed them. They were everywhere. It was like a little
ping pong machine, which was a good which is good news.
And remarkably, they had one hundred plus foot of visibility
down there, which is like just unheard of, unheard of.

(40:20):
They were into the marquesses south of Key West, and again,
you know, but then I had some other buddies sort
of on the west coast of it, you know, on
the in the Gulf side of it. And now the
viz wasn't that good, so I think it sporadic where
it was, but they got lucky even though it was
really bumpy last weekend, if you remember, it was really rough,

(40:42):
but we did okay here on Sunday. I got a
nice Andy, got a nice black.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Grouper and we saw some nothing nothing huge.

Speaker 38 (40:52):
What surprising besides the hogfish and the black groupers and
the red groupers is big muttons big. So I don't
know what what you guys are catching with hook and line.
You know, when the hook goes in there, you know, and.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
They you know, really man, like a real man up.
But I do have spirits, yeah.

Speaker 21 (41:23):
Listen, I do.

Speaker 38 (41:24):
I do have to brag about my good buddy, Julie Higgs.
Julie Higgs fear fishing. She holds like seven world records.
She's a good buddy of mine. She was down in
Key Largo, uh this past weekend with her fiance and
they was spearfishing, free diving, spearfishing, free diving. Okay, no
blowing bubbles at all. She's a couple of good minutes,

(41:49):
a couple of minutes you know when you're and again
she's just doing uh well. She did both, which was
kind of cool. She shot a black grouper spirit of
black grouper so on the reef on the reef. She
said it was down there in fifty sixty feet, so
it wasn't a wasn't an easy one. Okay, hold up.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
And then she.

Speaker 38 (42:14):
Put a second shaft in it and then was able
to get it. But then they went, oh yes, yeah,
two spears in the in the black grouper.

Speaker 4 (42:24):
God one, not just one.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Now we got on to the freaking Brainhold show, take
my side with this guy.

Speaker 4 (42:33):
Okay, should have just lied.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
Oh my god, Wait a minute, Wait a minute, next time.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
Okay, that's a good idea.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Thank you.

Speaker 38 (42:42):
She's three diving at the surface and guess what she's.

Speaker 21 (42:47):
Fears a wahoo?

Speaker 4 (42:50):
Ah no, so.

Speaker 38 (42:52):
She's got She's got both the reef fish, black grouper
and a pelagic wahoo in the boat.

Speaker 3 (42:59):
So hold, just just a quick opinion, Eric, is spearing
the wahoo acceptable? And your your your your world's here?

Speaker 2 (43:07):
And I will say this, they're very fast moving fish.
If she can actually target a wahoo that and kind
of lead it like you would like a gun or
something like that, I can respect that. Yeah, because it's
actually hollow, acid move it's a it's a plagic no asleep.

Speaker 7 (43:22):
So that's acceptable.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
So that's acceptable in your world.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
A sleeping grouper in a lobster pot is not acceptable.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
So these are erics, These are Eric's rules. Yes, so wa,
A fast moving wahoo dispatching is fine. Yes, okay, wow,
you hear that, Chief, he's getting I hear that.

Speaker 38 (43:42):
I hear that.

Speaker 4 (43:43):
Listen.

Speaker 38 (43:43):
I'm gonna tell you right now. Black grouper and a
mutton snapper are probably the two hardest fish to spear
because they are on the move all the time.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
They do not sleep.

Speaker 38 (43:53):
Red grouper, on the other hand, you spear red grouper.
Ain't nothing big about that one. They basically come right
next to you and say, how are you doing?

Speaker 21 (44:01):
Uh a place?

Speaker 4 (44:03):
Black groper is hard to spear.

Speaker 38 (44:05):
Yes, oh yeah, yeah, they're always on the run.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Very red grouper or like a puppy dog snug suit. Okay,
it just bends down pets on the head and then
shoots it right to the brain.

Speaker 38 (44:19):
They really taste good. They really taste good. Yeah yeah,
and they probably rather have that than get hooked in
the mouth and you know, and having all the way
up to.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
The Okay, that's Jim, You're you're done. Take your last breath.
The good news, the goods practice.

Speaker 38 (44:40):
It's been spearing really well. Everything's been going really well
out there, and we are seeing a bunch of lobsters.
So you know, my message to you all is listen.
We're in the middle of May already end of July.
We're a mini season. So it's time to break out
that dive gear, you know, get it serviced, get your tanks,
v A P hydro and all that good stuff. Getting

(45:01):
ready for a couple of months from now.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
Okay, all right, all right, Jim read Jim. I will
say this to you, man, if you believe in carma,
when you come back and reincarnated, you are going to
be the most tortured man for eternity because of experience
the brain hole multiple times a billion times a day.

Speaker 4 (45:18):
Just turn into a worm. You be in a worm,
he'd be the warm and would wouldn't that be the
worst thing to be?

Speaker 38 (45:26):
How about a baked fish? If you're a bake fish,
we'll go to a valley. Who right, a live value?

Speaker 2 (45:32):
Who would that be bad?

Speaker 40 (45:33):
Or what?

Speaker 4 (45:36):
At you? You know?

Speaker 38 (45:37):
And then all of a sudden, this big sailfish comes
and eat you right because you've been move because you
got a hook in you.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
I mean, come on.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
That would be really bad. We're drifting off. There's some
kind of a crazy ass holographic world here.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
That's what they call it.

Speaker 2 (45:50):
That's what they getting back in reality. Have a good day, man,

Speaker 23 (55:20):
Was in the living room.

Speaker 2 (55:22):
Ah, there we go. We got it right. And I
know my man, Sean, but I saw some bit.

Speaker 23 (55:26):
I don't know how you knew.

Speaker 4 (55:28):
Yeah, how does he know that.

Speaker 3 (55:29):
Two windy today?

Speaker 37 (55:30):
Right?

Speaker 4 (55:31):
I know everything that?

Speaker 23 (55:32):
Yeah it is And actually I caught enough fish in
the last week. I don't have to go fishing.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
Oh boy, talking about being modesty.

Speaker 4 (55:43):
So why don't you tell us about it? Then, Sean,
would you get in good old After I.

Speaker 23 (55:47):
Got off some film with you guys last weekend, my
short kite bait goes off and it's a twenty four
pound black fan Wow. And then in the while I'm
playing that, the middle kite bait goes back, it goes
off and it's a twenty eight pound black man peeze.
So so that happened, okay, And then they got a king.

(56:12):
Eric Clark got to sailfish. I put a hammerhead for
a while.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
So I saw the instagram at my fishing and you're
both right there and the yax man and the water kitchen.

thank you.

Speaker 36 (56:33):
It's like wow.

Speaker 2 (56:36):
Over there, he's the worst guy. He never answers the
phone or returns the phone call.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
He probably knows who's calling.

Speaker 2 (56:42):
My god, he's just a return of call or answer.
What do you mean it's going to reach?

Speaker 4 (56:46):
Man?

Speaker 2 (56:46):
You know you blow us off. No, I don't crazy anyway.
Man's life when you know, great catches.

Speaker 21 (56:52):
Man.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
So twenty eight pound black fans a respectable fish, by
the way, because they get like th five was the record.

Speaker 4 (56:58):
Yeah, man, that's a big black fan. Nice fish. Right now, Sean, Uh,
you said you had you got one on the kite?

Speaker 23 (57:03):
Right, both of both of them are on the kite,
both of them.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Let's go back for a second of that. Who flies
a kite out of a yack?

Speaker 4 (57:11):
And how do you do that? As Sean?

Speaker 2 (57:14):
Sean is there?

Speaker 44 (57:15):
Right?

Speaker 4 (57:15):
You have an actually in a rod holder on the
on the yak?

Speaker 3 (57:19):
Do you have to anchor as well?

Speaker 23 (57:23):
I have a small sea anchor and I outfitted my
kayak with extra rod holders from Rowblazer, so I can
kind of have my set up on the back side
of the kayak with a kite. Right, And then I
know you don't want me to say, Eric, but my
swivel pod three six.

Speaker 21 (57:41):
My h I in for that.

Speaker 2 (57:44):
There you go, Silvio as pod. Here we go, Bloomberg
and sale sneaks of the pluck. He's gonna share that now.
No matter what we do, Bloombergs always gets a free plug.

Speaker 6 (57:54):
Man.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
You don't know why because Shaw's enjoined that five dollars
winners check you got from. Okay, you turn by the way,
just but she's not blooding us, I might add. So
your Sylvio as pod seat with your kite rig made
the whole experience that much more enjoyable, assuming, of course, yeah,
I can turn.

Speaker 23 (58:11):
Side grays instead of breaking my back the whole time.

Speaker 2 (58:15):
But again, you never told me is that a special
kite rig for a yacht, because normally kite rigs on
a boat or hooked up to an electric plug in,
and they released a kite down.

Speaker 23 (58:22):
I used the manual real just for the simple fact
I don't.

Speaker 2 (58:25):
Want to ruin to elect your grill, okay.

Speaker 23 (58:29):
And then I used bob Lewis kite which fly better
than anything else and they're a little bit smaller so
I can store them in the kayak.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
Yeah, well, luckily they act though you probably retrieve a
kite of it hits the water, Joe. Usually those days
are gaus the boat. You lose a kite, you're done,
but you paddle over there and retrieve it.

Speaker 4 (58:47):
Right, Hey, Sean, do you have all that on video?
By chance?

Speaker 23 (58:53):
Other people videoed me going through the water.

Speaker 4 (58:56):
Because I was thinking of maybe using some of that
for like a summers and promo.

Speaker 23 (59:01):
Mhmm, you know, giving away all my secret weapons.

Speaker 3 (59:04):
I don't know about that.

Speaker 4 (59:05):
Oh, here we go.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
What Sean just said? Sean's actually protecting his own secrets
from your ass, Okay, because you know why he knows
you put it on social media. Sean, I would never
take a sacred Okay, whatever Tipsy's got, you put it
out there, and nine million guys are us that in
the next tournament.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
Again, do do a lot of people copy like that?
Is that that a different thing.

Speaker 2 (59:24):
You think Stephen Fisherman copy each other? Come on, man,
Oh yeah, you do the show long enough, you know. Yeah,
Sean validation.

Speaker 4 (59:35):
Sean being very quiet.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
He's very Quiet's delay to day or something.

Speaker 4 (59:39):
No, I just think he's weary of of of what
the conversation. Yeah, okay, because.

Speaker 23 (59:47):
Every time I talk, you give myself talk back oh oh.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
We get that thing with the slap back of the
phone going yeah, yeah, sorry about that, Sean. It's just
a techy thing going on any way. Man, I caught
your Instagram, but catches great is enjoy your time and
your Sylvia glass pot three six. Do you have a

So thanks again, buddy.

Speaker 23 (01:00:31):
Okay, Sean, I'll talk to you guys. Great show.

Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Yeah, that slap back of the phone is difficult because
when you hear something I hate that like, hey, hey, hey,
I'm I'm I'm doing doing my five fine kind of
think it's kind of weird. Yeah, anyway, we'll figure that out.

One of life's greatest mysteries has finally been solved.

Speaker 18 (01:04:00):
God it's spruce, the new hardworking, worry free weed and
grass killer that's say for use around people and pets.
When used as directed spray the leaves for visible results
in just one hour and dead weeds in just one day.
You spray, they play, weeds die by the next day.

(01:04:22):
Find spruce wherever weed killers are sold.

Speaker 35 (01:04:26):
Number one on your car radio preset hand the new
and improved Diehard Radio Miami wy B FM HD two
Ford lauderdown Free never sounded so good.

Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
You're on board The Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show with
legendary fisherman Eric Brandon, an extreme angler Joe Hector, powered
by Mercury Marine, Go boldly Happy.

Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Mother's Day weekend? Are you beautiful wonderful moms who gave
birth to us? Crazy old and you never knew what
we're gonna be until we got past five or six
and you said, oh boy, what have we done now?

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Honey?

Speaker 19 (01:05:07):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
But anyway, my blady mother, Shirley, who's now in heaven
with my dad, was a great mom raising me and
putting up with me for so long. But anyway, Joe's
mom is happy to have had him. I don't believe
if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, I think she still likes
having you.

Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
So it's a great weekend. Fish news has been pretty
dark on good so far. No luck on the on
little Mini Rod how you were promoting and shilling like
crazy with every possible way you could.

Speaker 4 (01:05:38):
The problem is, Eric, you know you gave me bread.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Are you gonna blame my bread for you not catching
it on the hook. Oh my god, you did specialfi
with kind of bread. I was supposed to bring my mom.

Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
You brought him some stale ass bread.

Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
He sends me a text at four forty the morning.
Bring bread you just saying like, bring Italian bread or
bring like you know, roll or something. I mean, come on, dude,
when the moon HiT's the sky, baby, you can't catch
a peety. That's all right, man, Benny, you got a

(01:06:17):
new sau Steve. He's not a Jet fan any logger.
He's giving up on a team and totally blow his no.

Speaker 21 (01:06:22):
He'll go back.

Speaker 4 (01:06:23):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
He's on the Panther bandwagon. And they actually won a
game last night against the Maple Leafs.

Speaker 4 (01:06:29):
Whoa, Benny, what's up, buddy, Bennet.

Speaker 40 (01:06:33):
It's about time we got one on the Maple Leafs.

Speaker 23 (01:06:35):
Man.

Speaker 40 (01:06:35):
Yes, with yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
They're back in the hunt man.

Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
Very cool. Also very cool. I heard you got you
made a big jump as a great fan of the
last game.

Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
I saw that that yeah, yeah yeah. Ober in Tampa
and Tampa.

Speaker 40 (01:06:55):
When we closed it out, I was getting screenshots, videos,
pictures from people. Every couple of minutes that they were
seeing me on TV. So that was pretty cool. Getting
the seats. A couple of rows behind the bench will
always help that out.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
Very cool, man. What's the best I haven't been too
many Panther games. What's the best place to sit when
you watch that?

Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
It's like front row where I know where behind the goalie.

Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
Behind the goalie.

Speaker 40 (01:07:17):
That's exactly where my season tickets are.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Yeah, that's see because the goalie's got all the action
going on and there's nothing all the fights happened to
best part of hockey, by the ways, that when they
douke it out and slam.

Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
With each other, do they still do that?

Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
They still fight? I've seen it on replays.

Speaker 3 (01:07:32):
By the way, if you show up at a game
and you like, like tired or messed up, once that
first buck hits the glass in front of you, that'll
wake your butt up very quickly.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Yeah nice, All right, well cool, thanks say for that
one anyway, Benny. What's happening on Betty's fishing charters?

Speaker 45 (01:07:47):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
They think biting out their buddy?

Speaker 40 (01:07:49):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean as far as the bite,
the bite's been great. It's been very hot, a lot
of quantity when it comes to fish, especially obviously this
time of the year. The black fintunas are always the
hot topic, and you know they were right on time.
You know, they've been trickling in the past few weeks.
You know, Joe always asks me about the jumbos because

(01:08:09):
you know, we could catch the smaller ones year round,
but the jumbos are here. You know, it's yes, been
getting them pretty good. So that's been the hot topic
pretty much. But you know, this time of the year,
you got all the pelagics. You could catch anything at
any given time out there right now. It's your typical
you know, springtime, a little before that summertime, fishing before

(01:08:31):
the water heats up, when everything's just fired up and
passing by.

Speaker 4 (01:08:34):
So I'm good.

Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
I'm sorry, Joe. What qualifies as a jumbo in his
world be a captain over twenty pounds?

Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
Yeah, I mean if oh yeah, yeah, right, twenty five maybe,
I mean.

Speaker 40 (01:08:48):
I'll call it twenty a jumbo because I mean, not
for nothing, we catch a lot of eighteen pounders and
we think they're twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:08:54):
So true right there, Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
That's very cool.

Speaker 4 (01:09:00):
How about how about Wahoo?

Speaker 40 (01:09:01):
I haven't heard much on them, Yeah, no, I mean
it's not you know, it's not that time of the year.
But the moon is getting bigger right now, so we're
you know, full moon's coming up soon. So it might
get a little flurry of them for a few days
here and there, pick at a few, but we'll see
how that goes.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
So we had Jim Matthew by the way, speaking of wahood,
you might find this interesting, Betty. What it was divers
was actually as their spearing fish, and she actually spared
a freaking wahoo, which seems to me almost like impossible
thing to do because they moves so damn fast. That's
kind of an interesting thing, right, I have to.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Say real quick, surprisingly, wahoo do uh stand still in
the water column? So like they'll be kind of like
a like a barracuda sometimes where they'll just stay in place.

Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
They kind of like hover.

Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
Yeah, they're a hover fish. Yeah, they do that too.

Speaker 40 (01:09:52):
Just a little food for thank you, Joe, Yeah, right, Benny,
fun facts from Joe.

Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Betty just said, Okay, Joe's back on another one of
his tangents.

Speaker 21 (01:10:06):
Whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:10:06):
I can't help it, all.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
Right, Betty, So do you agree that May is still
a great month of fish? I mean, I always thought
that for me in my world, my son's taking about
my boats back in the day, that May was always
a great month for me.

Speaker 4 (01:10:16):
Buddy, Yeah, I mean year round.

Speaker 40 (01:10:18):
I'm on the phone with people and one of the
biggest questions we get when we got people calling from
different states is what's the best time of the year
to come there? And literally, May is the first thing
I say. I always say, you know, from mid to
late April through May is always the hottest month. I mean,
we got all the fishing tournaments starting this month for
a reason. You got every weekend there's something going on

(01:10:39):
because the people playing these tournaments, like when Joe's playing
his tournaments, you know when the hot time of the
year to catch those certain species are that your tournament's
based on, and they're just all starting right now.

Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
So that's Bendy right now, great, Benny now man exactly,
And Benny's right. That's why I try to keep it.
I don't put my tournaments in May.

Speaker 5 (01:11:01):
Just because the weather's still a little unpredictable, but I
try to keep it. When I have my tournament in June,
I try to keep it as close as I can
so we don't lose out on those black fntuna exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Hey, Benny, it's Mother's Day weekend. You want to do
a little shot your mom. She's a fan of the show,
by the way.

Speaker 40 (01:11:18):
Yeah, yeah, I mean my mom, Carol. Everybody knows she's
always watching. You might see her in the comments sometimes
if you do wish you're a happy Mother's Day. I'm
going to see her tomorrow with my sister having a
little barbecue. So yeah, shout out to my mom. Like always, how.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Many in your family you get just a sister, you
get the brother, how many having the crew?

Speaker 40 (01:11:36):
Yeah, no, just me and my sister. Me and my
sister had different dads. But you know she's down here
in Florida, and that's you know, my family. She got
four boys, all my nephews, and that's that's you know,
that's it for me right there.

Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
When you were growing up, Benny, and you misbehaved, it
mom giving me a good whack across the head or
the hand or what was ther way of punishing you
in the room, and.

Speaker 40 (01:11:56):
I can my mom. All my my mom had to
do is give me that look and I sat there
like a little angle.

Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
Yeah, my dad was that kind of guy. My mom
was sort of like trying to keep my dad from
beating my ass all the time. Yeah, his dad like
found me like crazy, but mom was the referee. Tom,
don't beat him with that bat again.

Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
Okay, Eric, how many times were you dropped?

Speaker 4 (01:12:18):
Many?

Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
My dad told me never and I actually said later
in life, never enough. But anyway, Benny, have a great weekend, brother.

Speaker 3 (01:19:11):
Hey, norm you got to get close on that microphone

Speaker 4 (01:19:16):
I don't know what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Uh, there you go. We got it, all right, so
at any rate, No, we don't have it. Okay, we'll

Mouse for the first eight minutes the show.

Speaker 4 (01:19:44):
Yeah, but it's not just him though, it's Sean. He
hears himself.

Speaker 2 (01:19:48):

But this, this is a norm phone connection thing.

Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
Yeah, So don't be locked in your bathroom or something
while you're doing a fishing report. He might be piloting
a maybe like be on your balcony, or he could
be on the finest kind and all around some traffic areas. Norman,
you're back, man, So you were saying, I'm sorry, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
Buddy, I'm back baby.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
There you go, Mats Strong, now man, go for it,
all right.

Speaker 47 (01:20:15):
Yeah, so springtime fishing, we're in the thick of it.
The sail fishing are pretty good right now. Lots of
sails on the kites and lots of boats with multiple
flags up this week. And we're also seeing some of
these little golden hammerheads that I like to call them.

(01:20:37):
These are small hammerhead sharks, like about fifty sixty pounders,
and you catch them, you know, fishing the kites. It's
a lot of fun. There's a small fish. They make
a lot of people really happy, and they make a
big show when they eat. They're really cool and they
fight hard and you can still catch them on the
same tackle. Okay, we're seeing some black mentunas and the afternoon.

(01:21:00):
Still that's still happening, you know, don't be afraid to
fish right up until dark live cultures Live valley.

Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
Who's you know, uh that kind of thing.

Speaker 21 (01:21:11):
And he's few kings on the reef.

Speaker 48 (01:21:17):
Uh, some groupers and bigger muttons on your deeper rucks
and structure.

Speaker 21 (01:21:25):
It's you know, it's all kind of it's all kind
of happening right now.

Speaker 48 (01:21:30):
What the sword guys are doing, Okay, I heard of
a few fish being caught, and the tarp and inshore doing.

Speaker 36 (01:21:40):
Pretty good too, I mean, Jeff Maggio is on.

Speaker 21 (01:21:43):
I'm pretty good right now, some fish.

Speaker 25 (01:21:44):
Up to about one hundred and fifty pounds.

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
All right, wow, yeah man, Yeah, how about how about
how about.

Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Go ahead, ask about over?

Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
No, no, I want to know about how about sword fish?
Norm Oh that's a new one. Yeah, what ya like?

Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
I said, kickfish or usual black fans? But you want side?

Speaker 4 (01:22:08):
I heard some I saw some guys on my feet
with some swordfish.

Speaker 36 (01:22:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:22:13):
I thought I just said that, but yeah, there were
a few st He just said that.

Speaker 4 (01:22:17):
I didn't hear you. Okay, that's weird.

Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
I thought he said, all right, what a what a bonehead?

Speaker 42 (01:22:23):
Man?

Speaker 4 (01:22:23):
He just said one hundred and fifty pounds?

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Right, yeah, thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
No, those are carping. You're really firing on all cylinders
this morning, Joe, I thought he.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
He's calling you, just saying that you're telling me to
share the show. I'm trying a multitask in here, anyway,
Normous to get back to you in all confused co hosters,
shall we anyway, you're saying it out there and the
tarpa we're banging, which is great.

Speaker 4 (01:22:49):
Bottom bite. What's happening down below down there at the bottom?

Speaker 47 (01:22:54):
Yeah, some groupers down deep on, like in two hundred feet. Also,
we got some pretty good blue line tiles get caught
this week, really nice fish.

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Yeah, blue line tiles?

Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
Any golden? No, nobody's fishing for the goldens right now.

Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
Okay, so he just.

Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
Brought a blue line tile.

Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
Why why would you tall talk about golden after you
saw about blue line tile?

Speaker 5 (01:23:20):
And because he because are because he said blue line tile.
So I figured let's tie it in and see if
anyone caught any gold I.

Speaker 2 (01:23:27):
Wass ask you more about what bluelight tile wre I
never saw one, So that's why. Okay, like we did
with swordfish exactly, sounds good. Totally blew that one. Yeah, sorry,
blue line tile norm are they a different kind of
looked at a normal tile fish or what's the story
of those things?

Speaker 47 (01:23:44):
Typically smaller of course, they don't have the gold features
of the of the golden tiles, and they're a little
bit shallower water. You can hand crank those, yeah, and
you know you can catch them in four to five
hundred feet of water.

Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
Uh okay, very cool. All right, So overall, Broard's not
doing too bad. Joy, Yeah, not too shabby. Yeah, Well, Norman,
thank you again as always, for bringing a strong Your
great friend Deb is right behind you here on the show.
You're now the Norman Deb Show. So she's standing by
the do her thing. Buddy boy, all right, have at it,

(01:24:20):
have a good day running that dog.

Speaker 4 (01:24:23):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
Let's go the keys showing Joe SpongeBob.

Speaker 4 (01:24:27):
But do do, dude, do do do whatever?

Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
That one's blown down there looking this year on the set.

Speaker 3 (01:24:32):
Of Well, I don't know if you guys realize, but
a lot of folks in the keys have been landlocked
because they the fires in homestead. They can't get off
the keys, and so I just can't get on the keys.
It's been a rough week for folks down there.

Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
Man, Deb, Good morning to you, ye, how both?

Speaker 8 (01:24:48):
How's it going?

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Not too shabby to see what's talking about? Those fires
kind of keeping people locked into the keys or locked out.
So you still see those things burning down there?

Speaker 42 (01:24:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 33 (01:24:59):
Absolutely, Thus fire started, well, our first fire started in
a spring break. Oh my gosh, it's the first show
I have not heard myself. This is amazing. Maybe we
can have a good show now, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
Eric, got you, Jeff, Jeff took Jeff, You're good now, go.

Speaker 33 (01:25:16):
Ahead, Yes, Jeff wonderful. Thank you. Okay, so we have been.
They first started in spring break when we had spring break,
and then last night we were just in such a drought.
I mean, if you're up in the Everglades, if you're
up there and you're actually coming into the keys, you
will see that there's no water on either side, and
usually there's water there. So extreme drought down here. Even

(01:25:38):
some of our flats in the back country, our mudflats
are even drying up. So we desperately need rain. Looks
like we're gonna have rain here on Tuesday. I'm looking
forward to that. But yeah, our stretch was closed yesterday.
I think it was open again today. But it just
depends on how they can get that fire out. It
starts on cards Sound and then it moves over to

(01:26:00):
the stretch and then back and forth, and it's on
the Miami days night. So it's y'all's fault, not.

Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
Ours, stuck in the I don't you know if she
wasn't blaming baby de County, I don't blame. We have
a luck to be blavory.

Speaker 33 (01:26:14):
I'm fucking Paradise, that's all it matters, right, that's wrong
with that? Yeah, I can't go anywhere, So I'm good.

Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
I saw a great Instagram post. You're on your skiff
having a great time, just cruising out somewhere. I'm sure
you're going just looking happy as can be. So what's
your be catching? Are they good?

Speaker 4 (01:26:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 33 (01:26:35):
I mean I've just been kind of nursing this foot
a little bit. I'm going to be back out, but
you know, just riding around on my skiff and and
you know, trying not to move my foot too much.
It's kind of what I'm doing right now. But I
have been looking at fishing reports for sure, and been
at talks and talking to people, and and just like
Norm said, it's spring, it's it's everybody's happy. Everything's good here.

(01:26:56):
We are a little windy today. It's like blowing twenty
twenty twenty five here, so it's gonna be a little
rough out on the reefs. But our yellow tailed sniper
bite has been awesome. We're having some bigger snappers and
some deeper water also, mutton snappers steal still here, still
going even shallow water. Are creeks here in Key Largo

(01:27:17):
carry a lot of them. So I mean the fishing
is really really good. It go on out deep and
we've been having. Like Gorm said, again, we are tile season.
Taile Fish season started in May, and the reason why
we can't keep yellow golden tiles is because they're out
a season, so they only have a very short season
in January. So that's why we're not catching those. But

(01:27:39):
our towelfish are you know. I caught one a couple
of years ago, the biggest one I've ever caught. This
like fifteen pounds. But they taste like grouper. Guys, they
are delicious. Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
I'll make it a comment about the flavor of tailfish.
I'll do that after you finishing. I'm not a fan.

Speaker 33 (01:28:00):
I was just gonna let you know. We catch those
four to six hundred feet on a chicken rig chicken rig,
circle hit hooks and you know, three with squid. That's
how I catch them. So you can use electric or
you can use hand crank. And those fish are so
shallow you shouldn't have to use an electric to get
them cool.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
Back to taelfish, they call it the lobster of fish,
the lobster of the sea and fish. And I've done
it right deb where I've caught a golden tome with
my son's I put that filet in the fridge, soak
it in some milk for about twenty four hours, right,
might soak it in the milk it's supposed to, ask Debb.
But take some of the toxins out, makes them meat
more pliable and firm whatever else, huh. And I cooked

(01:28:41):
it up and I wasn't like, I said, what's this lobster?
Person did not taste like lobster to me.

Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
And I think it's good, but I never like soaked
it in milk or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
Professional how she does it, Maybe that's what you're gonna I.

Speaker 33 (01:28:55):
Don't smoke any I don't. I don't soak anything in
buttermilk or milk unless catfish, and I got to get
some kind of sour taste out of it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
And because Bouchersmith told me that was his technique, so
I thought, I this is what the calf said. Yeah, yeah,
that's his technical Yeah, I do that for bluefish. Well
we're talking about tilefish, I know, but that.

Speaker 4 (01:29:14):
They do the milk thing with bluefish filets.

Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Bouncer put salas meat and tariokey too, which I kind
of like.

Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
But yeah, anyway, that would be good.

Speaker 33 (01:29:22):
But what if we could not it's it's actually a
good meat if you if you clean now. I think
that tilefish is better if it sits in the refrigerator
for two days before you eat it. Those fish is
good straight off the dock or straight off the boat,
you know what I mean, Like a yellow tail snapper,
mutton snapper. You want to eat those, you know, kind
of coast barks, you know, But tilefish tailfish is leaving

(01:29:45):
the refrigerator for two days, and it seems to get
better and better. So I don't know, it just depends on. Yeah,
but it is still grouper season here, so we're catching
group or two, and I mean everything's good as long
as you can get here from.

Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
The fires well before you go.

Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
Happy Mother's Day to you and also your mom Ather's

of I think I'm gonna probably do a sunset cruise
or something. I'm working as usual and kind of, you know,
get money as much as I can make.

on Sunday, slight chance of showers and storms, partly sunny.
H there eighty five southeast winds fifteen to twenty sees
two to four feet h near shore water's choppy. And

(01:37:22):
then if Florida Bay Today southeast winds near fifteen Baywater's

same southeast winds ten to fifteen Bay Water's chopping with
isolated showers and storms.

Speaker 4 (01:37:34):
Not too bad.

Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
That's not too bad at all, So I'll take that

Yeah, see, you're a little rough, but sky conditions at
least are.

Speaker 44 (01:38:08):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (01:38:09):
You guys, you're very welcome.

Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
Let's got our good friend Johnny's to Bill Man. We
he I talked last night about a few things in
the fishing world. About why there are now nineteen thousand
want to be captains on Lake Ida.

Speaker 4 (01:38:21):
I might add. So here's Johnny, Johnny's Stabill. I want
it to your brother. Good morning. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
Well, Joe's here messing with a small Minnie rode with
some brett. He asked me to bring it four forty
this morning, which I did. He just caught a little
dinky ass catfish. He's all like super proud about that thing.
So whatever, man, So he's not on a set currently,
he's boasting him on his little minnie cat But anyway,
how's your world been? What's happening in Johnny's stabill charter world?

Speaker 4 (01:38:51):
Buddy, It's been good, you know.

Speaker 45 (01:38:54):
I've been fishing the Everglades mostly this week.

Speaker 4 (01:38:57):
It has the most to offer right now.

Speaker 45 (01:39:00):
Is fishing better than it's been, But the bait situation
there is not great. All the shad just spawned, and
therefore all of the new baby shad are only three
quarters of an inch long, which is too small to
put a hook in. So we've pretty much reverted all

(01:39:22):
of our trips, you know, for the next couple of
weeks out to the Everglades, you know, right, now you
can catch a bunch of large mouth which is uncommon
for fishing the Everglades when there's all the exotics out there.
But I mean, we've been absolutely crushing those. And you know,

(01:39:43):
if you fish along alligator ally there are some peacocks.
They are hard to find, but when you do find them,
they're usually a couple and you can usually, you know,
you can usually make a day out of just kind
of jumping spots the spot to to get the peacocks
to you know, to agree to eating and playing ball
and uh, you know, and and and you can make

(01:40:05):
a whole day of doing that. So and then you
have all the bycatch of the oscars, the Mayan cichlids,
the jaguars, So it makes up for a well rounded trip.

Speaker 21 (01:40:14):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:40:15):
Cool man, what Johnny, what's the biggest jaguar that you
can get?

Speaker 45 (01:40:23):
I had a friend catch one just before I met
him at Holiday Park and I don't have the picture
on me, but it was like it would have been
a state record fish.

Speaker 4 (01:40:38):
And I don't think you realized at the time, but
it was like almost three pounds. Wow, Well, I'll w
a giant.

Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
That's giant, man. Somebody also a giant that really cut
pissed me off. We talked last night, Johnny. We're talking
about fishing previous show planning job, which we call, yes
the show prep, I might add, I asked Johnny, I
ran up question last night a people actually harvest fish, like,
for example, the Lake Isa, And boy, he told me
some things that just enlighten me in a very angry way.

Speaker 4 (01:41:07):
He heard my anger on the phone.

Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
Johnny spilled the beans on what some of these knuckleheads
do on that lake you've seen.

Speaker 45 (01:41:15):
Oh boy, Well, you know, we were talking about how
the lake doesn't fish like it used to, and of
course there's a ton of pressure. There's a lot of
guides on the lake every every day. I mean they
are just they're hammering that spot, you know, all of
their their same spots. And you know, on top of that,

(01:41:39):
we have a lot of people that throw big cast
nets for tilapia and they catch largemouth bass and peacocks
and they.

Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
Have coolers full of them.

Speaker 45 (01:41:54):
It's not just like I This is not like I
just saw this yesterday. This happened on a regular basis.
Some people fish, they have coolers full and they're just
you know, they're taking away a lot of fish out
of a not so huge system. I mean, lack Ida

(01:42:16):
is a big system, but the fishing fish is very small.
You know, there's only a handful of places that are going.

Speaker 4 (01:42:23):
To produce fish. Sure, and if you're in one of.

Speaker 45 (01:42:26):
Those spots that that is producing fish and you're throwing
a twenty or a sorry, a twelve foot cast net
over to catch tilapia and you're bringing in a bunch
of peacocks, obviously it's going to affect the fishing.

Speaker 2 (01:42:39):
So, yes, they're exceeding limits on catching these fish. Are
actually they're breaking the law number one? Okay, they're depleting
the lake of these fish, Joe, And what the hell
are they doing with a cooler full of peacock and
whatever else are doing they selling them? Are they that
desperate for a meal? I mean, I'll buy Seriously, I'll
buy the guy a fricking steak dinner if the official lot. Okay,

(01:43:01):
But Johnny knows that I'm an environmentalist as you are,
and Johnny certainly is, And I just can't stand when
people are actually robbing the system like that, week or
day after they know that it's probably a daily thing, Johnny,
I mean, who knows how this happens.

Speaker 21 (01:43:16):
Man.

Speaker 19 (01:43:19):
Yeah, it's you know, and by the time.

Speaker 45 (01:43:22):
You call FWC or anybody, by the time they even respond,
by the way, f wc's response time is horrible.

Speaker 36 (01:43:29):
I had to call them about a month ago.

Speaker 4 (01:43:32):
By the time you call them and.

Speaker 45 (01:43:33):
They get out, those people have already fillaid those eating
half of them.

Speaker 4 (01:43:37):
Yeah, woh god.

Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
But the f wc's I mean, they've got a huge
area they've got to cover, so it's got to be
tough for them. I mean, the whole state of Florida
that's not easy to cover in a short period of time.

Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
I understand that's true. That's for true. I mean they
are pretty much busy guys, and a very small force.
I might add to come to the state. But yeah, anyway,
just saying that, Johnny knows that on my leake, I've
seen guys, Joe don't walk on my leg. Yeah, I've
actually taken peacock out of my leg and dude like
get on my balcony and I go after them verbally
and I called it sty and every name on the

(01:44:10):
planet times ten.

Speaker 21 (01:44:11):
I just go off on them.

Speaker 35 (01:44:13):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:44:13):
You know, it's funny. It's funny that Johnny you mentioned
that with the cast net.

Speaker 5 (01:44:17):
Johnny, you remember that that small place that I saw
you at, that pond with the tarpin in Papeno. Well,
so I used to take Mia there all the time,
right like that was our spot, and we met some
good friends there.

Speaker 4 (01:44:33):
She would catch awesome fish.

Speaker 5 (01:44:34):
The fishing there was phenomenal and for a small little pond,
like it was just like utopia. Well, so one one
day I went there and there was like a big
group of people having a party, and they had two
guys down by the water, and I'm like, what are
they doing? And because I saw like a lot of

(01:44:56):
like rumbling in the water, so I go down there
because this is right before we're about the fish. The
guy had six six.

Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
Peacock bass on a stringer.

Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
Oh god, and they were going to.

Speaker 4 (01:45:08):
Cook him up right there with their barbecue. Boy. Then
I look over, wait, I look over to the grille
and there's two of them on the grill.

Speaker 2 (01:45:17):
Oh my god, Jo, did you say anything at all?

Speaker 4 (01:45:18):
Yes, I got to a bit.

Speaker 42 (01:45:19):
I got to.

Speaker 4 (01:45:20):
I can't really get into.

Speaker 2 (01:45:21):
It, okay, because I I would have, but it wasn't good.
I would address it like you did, and me it
was there so I had to, you know, careful be
at PG thirteen anyway, so we can talk about this forever.

Speaker 4 (01:45:29):
But Johnny, that's what happened to that place many.

Speaker 2 (01:45:32):
Johnny, thanks so much for me the conservationist, the great,
the best guy you are. And by the way, I
think Johnny's gonna be involved in your best explosion next year.
He'd actually fishes thing. I think it would be great.

Speaker 37 (01:45:43):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:45:44):
Yeah, Johnny involved in that thing. That could be fun
to watch. Johnny Man, is he there? Johnny's there?

Adventures and I'm John all right and today.

Speaker 36 (01:52:26):
What are we looking at?

Speaker 4 (01:52:27):
This is the Blue Nomad.

Speaker 3 (01:52:30):
So first time getting my hands on this thing. I've
heard of the third long and.

Speaker 52 (01:52:34):
I've died before, but this thing is going to take
heisted in your level. I mean I just think, like
I think you can go around what thirty feet?

Speaker 4 (01:52:41):
Yeah, this thing is really cool. As you can see.

Speaker 51 (01:52:43):
It fits right into a backpack and it's got this
long hose that can help you get down to thirty feet,
which I feel like here in South Florida, I mean,
we have so many dives right off the beach that you.

Speaker 21 (01:52:54):
Can go with this thing. Oh yeah, so you want
to test it out there.

Speaker 6 (01:52:56):
Let's do it always has to fit in the mask.

Speaker 23 (01:53:00):
Oh it's cold, really cool.

Speaker 4 (01:53:02):
Oh it's cold even in a suit.

Speaker 6 (01:53:04):
And get this.

Speaker 51 (01:53:05):
It comes with some several things in this package should
make it so easy. It comes with on top of
the floating Blue Nomad, it has a pole already with
a dive flag attached to it, so you're not carrying
around like a lot of gear to go diving. You
can honestly fit everything in here and just bring your
mask in fins.

Speaker 52 (01:53:23):
I'm pretty sure you could put this in one of
those cubbies at the airport, you know, like on the plane,
so it looks like it fits as a travel case
as well.

Speaker 51 (01:53:31):
It is travel friendly. TSA will not be pulling you
over for this guy, So just.

Speaker 30 (01:53:35):
Imagine this, all right, let's talk through it.

Speaker 4 (01:53:38):
I'm patty certified, thank god, Vin since I was.

Speaker 30 (01:53:40):
Thirteen years old, thanks to the parents.

Speaker 51 (01:53:42):
But it's really pricey to get certified by your gear
and everything. This is something that you don't need to
be a scuba dive certified for. And when it comes
to how much you're gonna be spending on your certification,
all the gear and everything, this is gonna.

Speaker 52 (01:53:56):
Be a better offer for you one hundred percent. I'd
rather learn with this than have to go through a
bunch of money of courses. You know, at least I
can see.

Speaker 10 (01:54:04):
If I like dotting with this exactly.
