Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're on board the Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show with
legendary fisherman Eric Brandon, an extreme angler Joe Hector, powered
by Mercury Marine.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Go boldly, bust out the Buttered Sausage Show, have me
Saturday morning, walk up to the number one fishing show
on the planet. Brod you by the one and only
number one boat dealership in all of the USA Nautical
Ventures Marine Group. I might add, oh yeah, the celebration

(00:34):
of them being a great sponsor and the number one
boat dealership of a planet that wearing actually orange because
everything there is orange? Okay, Roger Morris's orange is a
new green. Roger Moore says, I do because Roger Moore
is a man. He's a man with a plan. You know,
I just thought of something. What's that? Joy? So I've
known Roger. Tell me who Roger Moore is for twenty years?

(00:56):
Do they know who he is?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Roger owns Nautical Ventures.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
He gave me my first shot when everyone else thought
I was nuts fortunately with extreme kayak fishing.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
And after knowing him.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
For that long. How long is the story going off for? No,
it's gonna be short. No, it never is.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
But after knowing him that long, I just thought I've
never seen him in another color other than an orange.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Isn't that crazy? He sleeps orange, man.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
I don't think I've ever seen him in like a
you know, like a normal T shirt. No, he's always
wearing the Nautical Adventure's orange shirt.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
And he's never eat an orange. He's just an orange guy.
No nuts, orange works man. Hey, you know, and welcome
to the show, folks. Has some great times to talk
to last night, hide a Jeff and Knife when he
fly the ship. And a crazy man Stephen J. Gray.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Hey, how y'all reeling this morning?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Reeling fire? Boy? Have you guys knows how hot it's
been lately? Oh my gosh, he has been insane? Man crazy?
Come on, Well, you would know you wore these little tiny,
small shirts and medium sir, mediums, and you stay relatively
cool by letting your so called guns hangouts. So whatever
you are.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
And he's in air conditioned.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Uhh yeah, Jim, you know all, there's a fellows fellow there.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Be careful, be careful.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, stretching out, stretching his bending. Wow, you did that
really good bed stretch.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Sounds like he's up in there.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Wow. You go to this gym, bought the T shirt.
So let me get back a point. Last week in
Jim o' Thomas was not here and he did confess
that he did not tell me he was going to Guatemala.
You thought maybe I screwed up, but he actually admitted
he did not tell me. He just admitted that on
the last second had a trip. He did not tell
me he was going to go. I don't believe he

(02:36):
admitted that. Ask him another show. Is he there?

Speaker 5 (02:39):
I think if it was a more important person he
was talking to, it would have remembered, why.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Do you bring Joe? So we get the show rolling? Here?
Shall we? Where did he go? Again? Here was a Guatemala?
Is there a song for that? No?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Okay, No, he's Jimbo Guatemala La.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
He's in Guatemala and Jimbo living in Guatemala.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Jimbo, what right? Quadada Mada. I'm having a piece of Kowala.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
What geez?

Speaker 2 (03:13):
What are you a closet?

Speaker 7 (03:16):
You've got to be a closet fairy man a little fan.
That's all I can figure because it always reverts back to.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
That whatever man, mister a wal no show captain guy?

Speaker 7 (03:27):
Last we come on my brother. My brother had the
phone and if you had called him, which you did,
and whoever did hung up after he said it's not jimbo.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Let me tell you something.

Speaker 7 (03:41):
He could have done the show better than me, and
you guys could have harassed him with.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
His young Jeff at nine forty for not being able
to reach out to his brother. How would Jeff know
to reach out to your brother? He's not a freaking mind.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
Because if you call this number, it would he would
pick it up.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
But did you tell your brother to tell Jeff that, hey,
that you're filling in for him?

Speaker 8 (04:02):
Did?

Speaker 7 (04:03):
He says he didn't get a chance according to my brother.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
What do you guys? Wait, Jim, do you have a
twin brother.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
By the way, we have a picture of his brother
on camera right now. See his brother knows how to
catch fish.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Hey, Jim Moore showing that Mahir brother called that eighteen
pounder man on screen.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Yeah ye, so h yeah, Well you know the only
reason he called it was because I was driving the boat.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Of course we know you're the man obviously.

Speaker 7 (04:31):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
So after all he asked about you being going to
Guata model, welcome back to the show. I heard you
had like four bookings this week.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
Okay, so yeah, we've been out there.

Speaker 7 (04:42):
So we got home from Guatemala on Monday and I've
been out every day since. The just spectacular weather, flat
calm or close to it. And the fishing has been
really good as well. We've had sales every day. We've
had black fin tuna's almost every day, and we've had
dolphin every day. So the dolphin fishing has been really

(05:04):
good this well, since they're really good, they it's been
consistent this week. There have been a few big ones
caught it that pitcher I sent you. There was a
fifty seven I think it was fifty seventh pound caught
yesterday off Miami. Man, that's the biggest one. That's biggest

(05:24):
one I've heard of in a number of years of Miami.
Jimbo Uh probably about uh that maybe two years? Wow?

Speaker 4 (05:36):
That ma he made it two years man, Well not know, well,
I mean the longest now he didn't.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Man, No, I think.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
We're showing it right now.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
There is on screen him. I got that for you too, buddy.
There's that bigger right, nice fishing.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
So catching one that big is a challenge, but the
bigger challenge is finding one that big. So depending on
what tackle you have mod it might be easier or not.
But those big fish like that are just so few
and far between, especially nowadays. Techa that eighteen pounder we caught,
Those are a few and far between nowadays. But this

(06:16):
week there's been some dolphin on the edge and offshore.
The one that we caught, the larger one in that
fifty seven pounds were caught out the maybe one thousand
feet of water, so not terribly far out under frigate birds.
So if you're heading out there, keep an eyeut for
productivity frigate birds. We haven't seen any real floating debris.

(06:40):
There's been a lot of seaweed scattered out. It's more
of a nuisance than an asset, but there's a ton
of seaweed. But all the dolphin, at least on the
offshore side have come from underneath the birds, so keeping
out for the birds. Otherwise, we've been catching a few
along the edge well on the live bait, so we've

(07:01):
both put the live baits out to catch a sale
or a tuna, but we've also been getting some bahi bites,
very few kingfish bites, but one really awesome thing that
we had half this week, we had a deep line down.
We were in about one hundred and eighty feet of water.
We had a deep line down with a live cigar

(07:23):
minnow on it, twenty pound test. The broad bends over
like whatever it is, you have to figure we had
a king or something who knows, fight it, fight it
and we get the leader up and we fished a
twenty pound test. We have a short piece of double
line and then our fifteen feet of fifty or forty

(07:45):
pound lead or whatever we had on there, and we
hang our weight on that on the double line. Well,
when it came up, our weight was gone and one
strand of our double line was broke, so we had
no double line. It was this a single line to
the leader. We assumed we had a Before we got
to that point, the fish shook its head up on
the surface and we said it's a sailfish. After we

(08:09):
see that the leaders broke or the double line, the
fish runs out half a school of line. I'm like, man,
it must be a foul hook sailfish. We fight it
back up to the boat. We get to line up
and we look down. It was a big sword fish
that we had. Yes, a sword fish. We had the
leader up to the tip, but again we had our

(08:32):
double line was compromised. The fish now was up close
and we're like swordfish, Oh my god, and I'm stumbling
to get a gaff. He was nowhere in gaffing range
at that point. Anyways, he runs out really fast and
that other piece of the double line broke. So we
did not you know, if you want to call it

(08:53):
a release, but we weren't going that route. We were
going for a kill. But he's still after But to
have a thord fish like one hundred plus pounds, wow, okay,
so it was still down under the surface a little bit,
so it might have been a one hundred pounds, it
might have been a two hundred pounds. Who the heck knows,

(09:15):
We'll never know, but decent, it was a big, good
sized fish. Only once ever have we had that happen.
On the edge of About fifteen years ago, we caught
about a seventy five pounds swordfish on the deep line
on a twenty pounds spinning rod. This one was quite
a bit bigger than that, So it's a it's a rarity,

(09:35):
but so it's been good fishing.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
That's great, Jibo. It was a seven minute story about
a fish that got away. It was really really great.

Speaker 7 (09:42):
Man.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
You put blue like stories. Man, they like good story.

Speaker 7 (09:46):
Yeah, that's a good story, you know.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
And that's a rare rarity. Sword fish one hundred and
eighty feet of water.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
You got some weird thing with swordfish, arc like you
just have the weird hatred.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
That experience with Richard stan We hooked two seven hundred
pounders at least, and they both seven hundreds.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
How do you know there are seven hundred if they
got away.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
They both shook the hook when they breached, and my
son Shaan, who battled them, both lost both fish. Okay,
And I'm blaming the captain for that one. I think
the hook was dull, so there wasn't the sword fish fault.
I think the hook was dull, Joe, that's the reason.
Why Why do you think that? Because it half or
twice and it's my son's a much better angler than

(10:30):
that hook. What if it's your son's fault. It's never
my son's fault, Joe. In the Brandon family, we're to
blame for nothing. We are flaws. Yeah, we're used to that, Joe.
You're hearing this right, Jim.

Speaker 7 (10:43):
Well, yes, I am sword fish have very soft mouths.
A lot of them, especially if you were with stands
at your deep dropping for them. Did a lot of
them are foul hooked? You probably catch half of the
once you hook on average.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
You know you have a much better chance to catch one,
you see. But that's a theory.

Speaker 7 (11:04):
I don't know that. Yeah, you don't know.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
There's my theory. I was there, you weren't. Okay, how
do you know if we're going to talk.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
About theories, maybe I was there, Maybe.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
You're freaking maybe Star Wars theories about being what subliminally everywhere?
That's a long drawn out, drugged out story. I don't
even talk about it.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
What if I told you?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
I don't tell me. I cloned myself and it's real.
You're leaving your truck, Jim, you had not a better one.
Leave the doctor.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
Of course, it's too nice not to go out, so
fish is too good weather, it's too nice. There's gonna
be a lot of boats out there today. There's a
couple of tournaments going on, but there's there should be
plenty of fishes to go around and to.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Use sharp books there, Jim, both thank you very much.

Speaker 7 (11:52):
All my hooks are sharp.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
How would you know me, well, jim was here though.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
I am fairly excited about mah by the way, because
I mean, we've never really talked about mahi like this
in a while, but not like this.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
We talk about like, you know, a little babies. That's
different thanything else.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
All Right, I'll tell you, all right, here's here's our
routine usually says about mah.

Speaker 7 (12:19):
He's like, you know, well and listen a little wishy washy.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
It sounds like what I'm saying that Jimbo's honest and
and he gave us a report that's exciting about the
mahi for you know, that's that's exciting.

Speaker 7 (12:39):
Well let's let's just hope it continues because it could
have been a one day wonder, who knows. But all right,
it's it's looking promising that hopefully, cross our fingers that
we have a more productive mahi season than we've had
in the past few years. So it's a star if

(13:00):
nothing else.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Jimbo title back, catch him up and have a bud
wise run me, will you please?

Speaker 9 (13:05):
Will do?

Speaker 7 (13:06):
Thank you. It's a little early yet, but okay, early soon, jim.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
A little early bud bud, But sir man, have a

You got to find his firing points to get him
all hot and bothered, you know what. Anyway, Cory, how's
your week been, mat what's going on? Dude?

Speaker 6 (20:43):
Hey, there's everything's been pretty good. Fish has been, fish
has been good, you know, snakehead snakehead bite has been
has been very good. And the largemouth bastbight wasn't too
bad either. Out in the Evergladesh we got out there,
we got some fish up to eight pounds. That's a

(21:06):
big all on the top water top water frogs.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Eight pound large both is a big fish. Joy, I've
never caught one near that size. Ever, that's a big fish.

Speaker 6 (21:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, especially get him on top water. That's
always a fun that's always a fun deal.

Speaker 7 (21:21):
Though.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
The one day I did go snakehead fish. No, they
get fifty six, biggest was eleven pounds. Did get another ten,
couple of nine, So there's a lot of fish that day.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Trying to try to trump this one guy with that
so called record. I'm not gonna go there. It's two controversial,
but anyway, are you trying to bust the best that
record with another world record? Is that your goal? State record,
whatever record? World record? Eric world, my gosh, whatever, eight
time world record. I gf A. Thanks for actually knowing

(21:59):
something for Jane. Well, you know, I study our captain's
all right, very hard corey. You're trying to break the
guy's record to get or not?

Speaker 6 (22:07):
Man, I mean, I mean you know you're always you're
always trying to possibly do that. I mean, I to
be honest with you, it's something you're not really going
to go and just go and do. He just it
just kind of happens.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
So sure you go to you go to a pond
nearby Corey and you go to a place for people
be feeding of chicken wings. There we go, Here we go,
look for you, look for thirteen that weighs ninety seven pounds. Okay,
there you go.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
All right, Yeah it's been yeah, exactly, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 7 (22:39):
Exactly I go.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
He agrees it away, he agrees that somebody handfit that fish.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
There.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
I didn't mention nobody's names, Okay, I just said, I'm
just so I've heard it was it was.

Speaker 6 (22:52):
It was fed, but it wasn't. I do believe he
caught an art official. But yes, it was fed. There
was no doubt about it. We've we've already discussed. We
already talked about that.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
It was at some point the controversy. Yeah. So the
glad low with the water out there, I mean, is
it really still dropping the way down?

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Yeah? Yeah, waters, it's it's low pretty much everywhere. I
mean it's Holiday Park water, super low. I mean anywhere
out there right now, it's it's super low. Just it's
gonna take a lot, it's gonna take a bunch of
rain to get that up out there. But uh yeah,
it's it's definitely down. But it's good out there. You know,
if you can get into areas where you know, those

(23:34):
fish are concentrating those canals. And you know, I went
to the reservoir that I went to just south of
the lake Lake Overshobe. You know that's low out there too.
Get some of those deep pits and stuff and deep water,
you can. You know, they get concentrated in those areas,
catch a bunch of fish. So it's been good, and

(23:54):
it's been good.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
How about how about any monster peas.

Speaker 6 (24:00):
I didn't really get after them this week.

Speaker 7 (24:04):
I didn't.

Speaker 6 (24:04):
I didn't get after them.

Speaker 9 (24:06):
So I know it's still been good.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
I know with the water being down, you know, everywhere,
and you know, it's still been pretty good from what
I've heard. But I didn't get after I didn't get
after him and all this week.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Okay, Well, like Corey, they are. They are spawning like crazy.
They're all I see peacocks allay every every day. Man,
you just knock out these fry by the billions, which
I love see.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
Yeah, of course, I mean, I know the last time,
you know, the last time I had a guy from
Minnesota last week. We you know, he got twenty five
you know, a couple of five pounders, you know, in
a half day. So it did pretty good. But it
was a lot of them respawning though. That was a
big thing because we weren't really getting much doing the

(24:47):
you know, blind casting or you know top water or anything.
It was all a lot of sight fishing.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
So what's your thought, Corey when you see a male
and female doing her thing and trying to make a bed,
they're gonna lay their eggs or whatever. A lot of
guys will try to catch one or two of those
while they're trying to bet up. I leave alone, Joe.
I don't try to tease taut one and piss them
off to make a bike because they will eventually. Yeah,
I forget they're all teamed up. I don't want to

(25:13):
have the female takeoff and hall ass somewhere. But if
you saw like a eight pound I might change my mind.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, if it's if it's something big, I'll
I'll catch. I'll catch the one with no problem. I mean,
it's come back to that.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
I'll still come back to it's mate, right eventually.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
Usually, Yeah, yeah, if you do it, if you take it,
you know, you catch them and you get a you
snap a pick real quick. They'll they'll come back pretty fast.
But they reproduce so quick. I mean it takes like
a couple of weeks and then they'll start trying to
reproduce again. So yeah, that's why they do so well.
But yeah, if they're small, I mean, I don't really
screw them. I just you know, leave them alone. Cool man,

(25:56):
do the thing?

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Head Now today you're staying at home or what are
you doing?

Speaker 6 (26:01):
No, I'm I'm going out. I'm going out here shortly.
You're gonna try to get some snakeheads and see what
we can do. So see if we can maybe get
a couple of big ones.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
Well, I'm not trying to cut it short, but Joe
it has this log, just long, gigantic log with a
chat with Jim Botowas. But wow, you.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Gotta blame everyone else crazy?

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Do you ask the nineteen Maha questions?

Speaker 4 (26:21):
And we were running lake, Well he's talking about a
fifty seven pounder of cour Well there's been many fifty
poundersquid Okay, really you do? Yeah, Corey, let me ask
you what do you think of a fifty seven pound Mahi?
Would you want to talk about that or just cut
the guy off?

Speaker 6 (26:37):
Yeah, that's a pretty damn big mahiot powder butter saucers
my shelf.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
Yeah, yeah, just butter sauce and fish story a good
fish story too. It gets ratings.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
All right, well, Corey, listen, man, I wait, don't even
break that world record again, man, so keep it up
and just I know you're gonna nail it again. Bro,
we have faith in you.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Sounds good.

Speaker 7 (27:01):
I'm gonna try.

Speaker 6 (27:02):
See what happens.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
I didn't do your thanks Cory the famous Corey laugh
Stuid Corey ready, ye all right man, thanks.

Speaker 9 (27:14):
Buddy, Okay, all right, you do you guys.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Thanks so way. Cod had his iron Man tournament last week.

but I did it. It's like in my brain now,
I can't get it out. That's how he got you,
he got me. He's effectedly ready. Yeah, you know it's genius.
He got Sewan rolls. Yeah. And then you know they

(27:59):
talked about it. You saught in the art of Joe
Hector's ship liminal shilling. Just put that in my brain.
I can't get it out now. That's how you shill,
because how you just passed the lot through it.

the Eric show. He's on the Weekly Fisherman and Joe is.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
The best fisherman all butter sauce as he butters the sauce.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
There we go, We get to the butter shops, Joe,
there you go. We got the man in the reward
fishing fleet, the Captain of the Man with a plan
with the Iron Man Tournament, and just all kinds of
cool stuff. Wayne the Man con.

Speaker 35 (32:31):
Hey, Wayne, Hey, good morning gentlemen.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Day to day, I saw the Rewarren got some good action,
buddy boy, talk about that? Please?

Speaker 7 (32:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 35 (32:44):
You know all week, you know we we we've caught
a smattering a really nice fish.

Speaker 36 (32:48):
We had the best thing I think going on right
now is consistently the last few days there's been some
dolphin and they're not too far out, so I'm actually
I was just pulling away from the dock when we
had a customer show up a few minutes late. That's parking,
but somewhere between like three and five hundred feet there's
been little RIfS and edges and there's been quite a
few dolphins, so that could be any time of the day,

(33:09):
so I'm hoping to hit them early. So right, you know,
I said, we're leaving the dock. We do a six
thirty to five thirty trip a lot of saturdays. We
call them iron Man trips on our fifty six foot
we got. We got like twelve anglers here and everybody's.

Speaker 35 (33:21):
All hot to trot.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Whoa cool.

Speaker 36 (33:24):
We'll do a lot of We're gonna go out and
look for dolphin a bit, and we're gonna come in
and do some breck fishing and refishing and that's it,
and take no prisoners and let go of the ones
we're not allowed to keep and filed the ones we can.

Speaker 35 (33:35):
So that's been the goal. So regular business, we're still yeah,
what's that?

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Go ahead? The iron Man guys using the regular bit
of they all jiggers. I mean, what these these are like?

Speaker 36 (33:44):
No, no, no, we got yeah, we got We've got
two bait guys given us bait from pinfish to pilchers
to doggalize and putting chips in.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
I got two live wells on the boat. We're set
up for kait.

Speaker 35 (33:56):
Fishing, but I don't do it on these trips. So okay,
the fishing on.

Speaker 36 (33:59):
Other kind of boat on so uh, you know, I
want to bill fish ternam in this boat many moons ago.
But which is great because I sat right next to
all the contenders and all the hot shots and beat
him up and that you know, the fish pick and choose.
It's you know, it's they don't know. They don't know anything.
They don't know you got an eight knot boat, not
a forty knot boat.

Speaker 35 (34:17):
They don't know that. They just fit and if you're
lucky enough, and that's the way it works.

Speaker 36 (34:20):
So very cool anyway, and we got another trip going
this morning at nine am for regular trade. We give
a great resident discount, but wants to come fishing only
fifty bucks.

Speaker 35 (34:31):
I mean, I don't know, it's hard to do. What
are you going to do for four hours for fifty bucks.
Nothing that I know.

Speaker 36 (34:37):
I mean, that's for dang sure, but you can you
can come fishing with us. And if you've got a
kid that's thirteen or under, they can go for free.
So that's about it.

Speaker 35 (34:46):
That's that's that's what the Reward Fleet is offering.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
I could tell Wayne's get himself all ready to go
with this tournament because he's actually not going out longer
than he likes to go because yeah, yeah, he likes
to talk what we do. Yeah, so I do know
about the muntains. Sorry, he has no time for that.

Speaker 35 (35:00):
They did not bite last week at all, did not bite.
I'm not I'm not driving yet, but close to driving.
The muntains didn't bite bite this week at all.

Speaker 36 (35:10):
Last week we cut a few and one of them
was almost was twenty five and a half pounds.

Speaker 35 (35:14):
Was just what I've seen in twenty years, and a
short fat fish.

Speaker 36 (35:18):
But just say it's you know what, I'd rather be
lucky than skillful, so and just to get a bite
from one of those fishes luck and then to catch
them is another. We cut eight or ten big gay
grippers that day as well, and none of them got mugged.
So that's crazy, huh. Like I said, I'd rather be lucky. Okay,
definitely get.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Lucky today, buddy, sir, Yeah, thank you so much.

Speaker 35 (35:41):
I'll shoot you guys pictures as we go.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
You gotta have a great Joe. Shall we go to
the sh There's no bunks around now because they're closed.
What do you think he was doing the whole time? Now? Yeah? Nothing,
It's nothing but the whole brain hoole thing. Now, for months,
I was sick of stuffing about it? How you feel
about that? I love guys who actually blasted a whole

(36:06):
through a grouper's brain stuck in a lobster pot. That
just figures. That's the greatest sport on the planet. You're
never going to live that house sporty?

Speaker 34 (36:14):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Buddy? Yeah? Yeah, amazing. Let's see. I'll try to be enthusiastic. Hey,
Jim good, really good.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
We have a video of Chiefy fishing here.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
Listen. I fasted on the live last night, fish listen.
I fausted my mind last night. I pulled it off
and I gave to Steven to play. Let's please play
this video and hear this? Okay, shall we stay by?

Speaker 33 (36:40):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (36:40):
I didn't think you want to hear it because it
promotes another site.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Oh well, okay, bee shon be shon. We're deep this
episode of Hotspots.

Speaker 37 (36:51):
I'm Chiefy Matthew, local scuba divers, underwater hunter and author.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
I saw that video alimost fell off my chair.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Fish shy.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
He's got a damn rod in his head. Fish on.
Excited by the way. It looks like a great time
of my dad with a sport of Roden reel versus
brainholes video.

Speaker 5 (37:10):
This is an older video.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
It's an old video, you can tell.

Speaker 7 (37:13):
But listen, listen.

Speaker 33 (37:15):
One point two million views, buddy, all right, I saw that.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
News.

Speaker 33 (37:23):
Yeah, Captain George. Oh the Bolo b o l out
of the cod Marina.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
Really cool, dude. You know, did you get paid? One views?
No YouTube paid.

Speaker 37 (37:38):
It would be really nice if I got paid, but uh,
you know they do say I have a face for radio.

Speaker 33 (37:43):
That's why I'm on radio, and I still don't get paid.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
All right, let's go and talk about you and your
exploits underwaters water.

Speaker 37 (37:52):
I can't tell you, you know, last Saturday it was
blowing pretty hard, right, it was rough out there, buddy, But.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
We the Chiefy crew.

Speaker 37 (38:01):
When I'm relentless, my Buddy's thirty nine Invincible and they
I drove the boat because it was a little bumpy.
We needed a driver, otherwise we'd still be out there.
And yeah, three black grouper, five red grouper, five hogfish,
and assorted other mutton snapper type of deal.

Speaker 33 (38:23):
The boys were relentless. It was unbelievable. But I do
have a fish, I mean a brain hole story.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Okay, oh yeah, go ahead please.

Speaker 37 (38:34):
So doctor Carl, who's my dentist's he's at the he's
on his safety stop. So he's five hundred you know,
pounds of air kind of getting ready to come up.
He's hanging about, you know, twenty feet visibility vertical was great.
So he looks down and he sees what he says,
I think I see a black grouper. He goes down

(38:56):
at that point and shoots it in the brain hole.
Of course he did, right, of course he did, yes,
and it brings it up.

Speaker 33 (39:07):
He he you know.

Speaker 37 (39:09):
The good news is, you know, Eric, it puts it
out of its misery right away.

Speaker 33 (39:13):
So it was great, and we.

Speaker 37 (39:15):
Got another black grouper on the boat. That was the
best part of the whole thing. So it was really,
really a relentless day. That was Saturday, and it was
ugly out. It was really ugly. But the good news
is man after we had that rain come through the
earlier of the week, it's been great. I dove Wednesday, Thursday,
I had buddies of mine diving yesterday, and I'm diving today.

Speaker 33 (39:38):
So really good.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
They did.

Speaker 37 (39:41):
My buddy Marshall, who owns my marina here in Deerfield,
he put, I mean.

Speaker 33 (39:48):
His buddy Eric and Susie went out. I couldn't go yesterday.

Speaker 37 (39:51):
I really wanted to, and he shot himself a nice
thirty six inch black grouper off a Delray, So that
was good.

Speaker 33 (40:00):
Guys are seeing fish. It's not like they're not. I
mean it's they're not everywhere the structure and they're on walls.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Can you band the words shoot on the show and say, like,
dispatched spear so sphere, No, it seems to justspatched. It
sounds horrible. Dispatch. What would you like me to Well,
we dispatched a couple of groupers.

Speaker 33 (40:23):
Fact that one, Yes, we did. We dispatched a few groupers.
That was really good and I got that right with
the plural and all that good stuff.

Speaker 37 (40:31):
So and then The other thing that they did, which
was actually cool, Susan, he's never done this before, is
they went off shore and they got into some mahi, right,
so that's a lot of fun. And they threw her
in the water with you know, massdark and she and
she's dispatched. She dispatched a nice little mahi. But it

(40:51):
was you know, that's just fun stuff.

Speaker 33 (40:53):
It's just different.

Speaker 37 (40:54):
You catch them, you spear them, I mean, dispatch them,
and then uh, you know, it's just a.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
I can't start the word spirit, just go back to spirit.

Speaker 33 (41:06):
Yeah, it's been listen.

Speaker 37 (41:07):
Finally, finally, finally we have summer conditions, no doubt about it.
Water temperatures eighty degrees. I'm actually gonna go today. Instead
of the five mil, I'm going down to the three mil,
which means I don't have to carry as much weight
around and uh, visibility has been top to bottom.

Speaker 6 (41:25):
Now.

Speaker 37 (41:25):
Wednesday at a ripping south current, I mean I could
barely hang on Thursday.

Speaker 33 (41:31):
I couldn't buy a current. It was like the same
thing yesterday. No current.

Speaker 37 (41:36):
I'm hopeful today no current because when you're when you
are diving and you're trying to get on that wreck,
it really helps that you don't have any current.

Speaker 33 (41:47):
So that's the key. If you have current, you cannot
stay on a wreck. It's just it's just not good.
And we hot drop them.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
We don't.

Speaker 33 (41:55):
We don't like tie off to the wreck. A lot
of the commercial guys will do that. We don't do that.
We just jump in and take care of business.

Speaker 7 (42:02):
But yeah, all good, Jim, really really good?

Speaker 2 (42:06):
Is it true?

Speaker 4 (42:06):
Like with those deep wrecks, you guys like drop a
line and you guys like climb the line down to
the wreck.

Speaker 33 (42:12):
Yeah, they'll tie off on a commercial boat.

Speaker 37 (42:15):
Most of the time, the charter boats, the dives, they'll
actually tie off to the wreck.

Speaker 33 (42:21):
They'll have a morning ball and they'll tie off.

Speaker 37 (42:23):
That's the dive master will do that, and he'll know,
like he'll say, well, you know, you get down there,
you have a north current or south current, or he'll
say no, it's the current's too strong, or it's a
really good wreck to do, so that they'll know that
ahead of time. Typically a good captain, and they'll tie
off and then you'll go down the line. You'll you know,

(42:43):
swim around, dive around the wreck.

Speaker 33 (42:47):
It's tough. I don't like to spearfish that way because
hell you you got you know, ten other divers down
there with you. It's probably not a good idea, you know, but.

Speaker 6 (42:59):
Yeah, I can.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Shoot shoot each other, go ahead.

Speaker 37 (43:05):
Many we typically do is we jump in and we
would call hot drop, I'll hit it. I'll hit a wreck,
maybe it'll be two or three wrecks, and then we'll
go off into you.

Speaker 6 (43:19):
Know, a reef.

Speaker 33 (43:20):
So that's you know. We we always drift dive. We
we never anchor dive because that means that you need
somebody to drive the boat. So it's just a way
of doing things.

Speaker 8 (43:30):
You know.

Speaker 2 (43:31):
Yeah, did you ever see the movie Open Water Guys?
But this couple that got on a dive vote and
a dive vote left when they were stranding into wide
open ocean and eventually they they got eaten by the
sharks towards the end of the thing. Did you ever
see that part? I don't remember that. You ever see
a gym they all die?

Speaker 33 (43:50):
I've heard about it, Yeah, I don't. I don't watch
those kind of movies, you know.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
I think your payback one bay one day. Maybe these
headboat he's dive boats right that all of a sudden,
Jim's out there screwed around with this spear, whole brain
shooter or whatever. Okay, he comes to the top of
the water and the dive boat is hauled acid left
him by himself. Okay, he's ufter it over the water
with nobody around, and the boat took off.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
Knowing Jim though he would he would wrestle those sharks
as opposed to sharks, he would make take them down. No,
there'd be five thousand grouper just ravaging him and pulling
him apart piece by piece.

Speaker 5 (44:30):
Yeah, but most of the time he's off shore close by.
He doesn't go way off shore.

Speaker 33 (44:34):
I'm thinking maybe, And that's the good news about where
we died. We're really close.

Speaker 37 (44:38):
I mean we're less than a we dive, like a
half a mile off shore and forty feet of water.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
He ruined my whole fantasy right there, man, totally. Yeah,
I hear you. But but here here was the news.

Speaker 7 (44:49):
Are you ready? Are you ready?

Speaker 37 (44:50):
Yesterday seconds a great white shark sighting saw that by
two of the charter boats. Dixie Divers has the Lady
Go Diver and Actual Life. They both and they actually
have a picture of the great white.

Speaker 7 (45:04):

Here's there a Brandon and Joe Hector.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
Well, Normous no longer one of us. He's now working
undercover secret ops for the CIA, doing some covert actions
to keep America strong. Okay, all right, I want to
call it like Colonel norm or yeah, Commander Norm or
something man commando Norm, Commando Norm? Yeah, yeah, brand who
got a show with you? And I talked this week.

(01:16:39):
He's got a lot of credit. Matter of fact, to
Norm turned me out of this guy, said Eric, you
want a great captain. This guy's the man. Vinnie Sachs
on the y B normal out a broward man, Vinnie,
Good morning to you, buddy. What's up Vinnie?

Speaker 6 (01:16:53):
Hey, good morning guys.

Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
Welcome to the Nautical Ventures Weekly Vision. Michelle. It's your
first time with us and research on you. By the way,
I looked at your Facebook page and you've got a
lot of cred.

Speaker 23 (01:17:04):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
You get some great fish in that boat. I like
your color. Every boat I've seen an all green vessel before.
Where the yby normal is not like ybe normal?

Speaker 46 (01:17:15):
Right, Yeah, we're Yeah, we were trying to stand out
when we bought the boat originally, so we wanted to
painted a color that everybody would recognize. So worked out
pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
That green is screaming buddy boy. So again, walking to
the show, we always like to pick our brains and
where caps Joe and I. We asked them some good
questions and some dumb ass questions. Yes, we mixed up
a little bit right, right. So what's been biting this week? There? Cap?

Speaker 46 (01:17:40):
So this week I would say the hot topic to Maahi,
it's been really really good, a lot better than we're
normally used to seeing this time of the year. Usually
it's later in the summer June July, sometimes in the
fall is the best fight, but lately it's been out
of control. A lot of smaller fish still, but there's
a lot of keepers to be had. Just go off

(01:18:04):
shore till you find the big patches of weeds. And
I definitely would bring some live bait if you're going
out there, because if you get in the school, you
definitely throw live bait to him. They're not gonna say no.

Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Yeah aweso. Yeah. So I'm assuming pilchrigs primarily.

Speaker 46 (01:18:20):
Yeah, pilche is gonna be your best choice. If you
don't have pilch, it's probably like some bonita or any
kind of cut bait. But definitely take the time to
get some live bait if you're gonna go off shore
and looks for dolphin this weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Now, Vinie, when you know Joe, like Joe Hector, Vinnie VI, Joe,
Joe has his own set of questions he'll ask you.
So Joe hit it with one of your random favorite
three like a rando whatever. Man, Just well, you know
what you're gonna ask him? Go ahead, what am I
gonna ask him? How deep?

Speaker 43 (01:18:47):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
What other fish like maybe wahoo?

Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
You guys, I just well, first I gotta get to
know him a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:18:52):
All right, all right, So what's your what's your favorite
what's your favorite fish to catch?

Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
What's your favorite fish to go after.

Speaker 46 (01:19:00):
I'm a big bottom fishing guy. I like black grouper,
that's my favorite.

Speaker 4 (01:19:04):
Okay, And that now leads into all right, if you
like the black groupers. So what's the bottom bite looking
like right now?

Speaker 46 (01:19:13):
It's a little tough this time of the year. You
can do well on the yellowtail snappers if you anchor
up in like sixty seventy feet, but you kind of
need the tide. If you don't have no tie, the
bite's not going to be very good. Tend to do
better on like vermillions and stuff more in the winter
time than this time of year.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Gotcha, you know? I, Vinnie, there's a lot of caps up.
You're trying to make a living doing this charter thing,
and some are better than others. Why do you think again,
norm talk you about big time like you really got
serious credit. I've seen the fisher catch. What makes you
better than others? Your style, your technique, your your terminal
tackle me? What makes the yb normal catch? So many
dark fish.

Speaker 46 (01:19:56):
Just out there, a lot a lot of local knowledge.
I really like to pound the bottom like Wayne Khn
in Miami. So always trying to put something in the
box no matter what. Some days are better than others,
of course, but when the conditions cooperate we usually do
all right.

Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
Very cool now, he and that we're talking last night
or yes, afternoon, by the way, and he told me
that for a long time he was not a fan
of eating mahi because he would do like a lot
of us do. We actually pulled the skin off the
meat and as he called it, at least some like
little fiberglass fingers on the flesh. Yeah. Yeah, And Vinnie
was telling me that it didn't really turn him on.

(01:20:33):
The flavor wasn't great. Then a buddy turn him on
and said, hey, listen, take your fill at knife and
actually flay that skin off and it'll taste different. And
I think you said, Vinnie, that got you to be
a mahi fan.

Speaker 46 (01:20:46):
Ah, right, yeah, one hundred percent. I think now that
I started doing that, mahi's probably one of the most
versatile fish he could eat, in my opinion, so many
different ways to cook it.

Speaker 6 (01:20:57):
It's so good.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
Yeah, well, I'm sorry. As Jordan asked you about Wallho,
you always asks every capin.

Speaker 4 (01:21:01):
All right, I get I'm gonna get there, but I
wanted to We never really talked about bottom.

Speaker 2 (01:21:06):
I have a clock runner here, but go ahead, all right,
how about Wahoo? Thank you, Jill.

Speaker 7 (01:21:11):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 46 (01:21:13):
May's notorious a tough month for wahoo. I would say,
if you're gonna go offshore, definitely bring like a planer
or something that goes underneath the surface, because if you
do find that magical floater, they might be stacked up.
Usually don't get them big big ones on the floaters,
but you know you might catch four or five ten
to fifteen pounders. They all add up to a big

(01:21:34):
one in the end, right.

Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
Sure, sure man. So Vinny, when you put on those planters,
you would like to pull those base faster wallho use
like a number four, three or four? What's your what's
your number?

Speaker 46 (01:21:44):
I like the uh the four to six, which is
a four size with a six ounce lead. You could
pull it a little bit quicker, okay, especially if you're
pulling a bigger bait. And then I like the number eight,
which is double the size. That's usually what I'm fishing
on my shore side.

Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
You're pulling the sea witches behind that plane or what
do you use it?

Speaker 46 (01:22:04):
When I go off shore, I pull a spoon because
it's just less things you got to worry about, like
a three and a half inch drone spoon on the reef,
insure on the reef for pulling the sea witches.

Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
So are you I got your boat out today chartering
or what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (01:22:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 46 (01:22:24):
We got a morning trip this morning. We got some
guys coming up from Miami. We're gonna, uh probably go
out there and look for some mahi that I said.
It's been a hot thing to do, so hopefully there
ain't too many people out there yet to beat me
to them, but you know, we're ready to and get
in there.

Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
You know, between you and me video they have a
book a charter on a Saturday or Sunday. It's just
too many googa's out there and way too many damn boats.
Oh yeah, half of which I probably I sold. It's
probably blaming me anyway. But listen, dude, you've been great
your debut. Yeah, well you're not like Norm. Norm was
mister sarcasm, but times ten, you're actually a very pleasant
Gotta talk to you about like it take a shots

(01:23:01):
out of nothing, which is great, good stuff as you
warms into us later on he can takeus a pot
shots out. Well, he'll start taking shots soon. Well you
I get picked off now official to YB. Normal Man,
give us your contact. How do we get on your boat, buddy?

Speaker 46 (01:23:14):
Yeah, you can look us up on social media, YB.
Normal sport fishing, or you can give us a phone
call at nine five five.

Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
That's awesome, Danny. Why Vennie for your first shot on
the show Man you knocked out of the park, buddy.
Great job, thanks Vinnie, great job man.

Speaker 46 (01:23:31):
Man, appreciate you guys having me.

Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
Thank you, Vinnie. You're part of the team. Now, Man,
don't go over you won't be uh, we'll hunt you down,
We'll find you. So you're staying with us, Thanks very much,
all righty.

Speaker 46 (01:23:40):
Yeah, thank you bro a right, take care guys.

Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
One of what Johnny Stapill's doing these days, remember dep now, Yeah,
I'm sorry dep Dale to the keys we go, Jojo,
let's do it, Oh dev I pick it up? Oh boy, Okay,
she wouldn't do that to me again, would she?

Speaker 10 (01:23:59):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
No, last time she's lost her phone. She's lost her
phone about five times in the run we've had her
so far, and then sometimes she's out of range, and
sometimes she has a booking that comes up at the
last possible second. So hmm, what shall we do. I
did talk to a buddy of mine who fished in

(01:24:21):
the keys this week, just so you know, I have
a bud down there. They stand and Stan told me
that down in the Keys they're seeing that big mahi run.
So the keys have got through Shri mayi, big mahi,
bigger mahi are showing up. Yeah, okay, bigger mahi and
bigger schools are showing up really really well. They said.
The bottom BYTE's been banging great with mangros and for millions,

(01:24:42):
which are great. And down in the Keys, guys are
getting Wahoo done her Joe very cool. So they've had
some good fishing. It's been great. All the fires that
were burning around the glades, it's choked off carts, sound
road in US one down to the Keys have finally
been put out by our great firefighters. So it's getting
back to normal down there. And they said, by the way,

(01:25:03):
that the beer supply made it through fine the friers,
so all the bars have got all the beer you need. Perfect.
There was a real panic down there that there might
be a shortage of beer really, because we know that
our keys guys love their beer. Burr beer Burr America
America Burr. You know, maybe they got some buttershapers down

(01:25:26):
there to John and check out.

Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
That one fried trimp defried trimp, trimp suit shrimp salad

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):

brain dead as he is. But he will take a
little we'll come back and take a little break. And
actually I'll do one thing. I'm gonna try to start
my bucket one more time. I am so tenacious about

(01:25:56):
this bucket. Okay, people just wake up. I'm gonna ask
you all to this one simple question. Okay, now, please
pay attention. It's not that difficult. Get ready for a
wash and wax and deck cleaner and book cleaner and
the best products made in America America bar none. Okay,
start dialing this number now, eight six six eight zero
one zero nine four zero. Simple question is why is

(01:26:21):

And see I and K we're taking letters, I and
K we're taking. Now, I like a shaped like a
J as the best possible answer? Am I giving it
the one here? Joe? Pretty much obvious. Guys, just pick

(01:26:45):

eight zero one zero nine for zero. Come back and
talk to our good friend Jennifer Gray Warren and see
what's with this weather? Why is it so damn hot?

Speaker 9 (01:26:58):

Speaker 2 (01:26:59):

Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
So yeah, awesome, congratulations to you. Cool and Steve. Want
to ask that one question or we're just going to
move on here past Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:33:52):
We should definitely ask this question here. If you had
a choice, miss miss, come on guys, as to which
the captain from our show you would go with? Would
you go out with on the boat to Joe Hector,
Option A with Eric Brandon, Option B or option ce? Uh,
forget about them both. I'll go by myself.

Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
I'll bring beer. Come on, guys, a big deal.

Speaker 3 (01:34:19):

the weather forecast. Good morning to you, Jen, Hi Jen,
Good morning guys.

Speaker 20 (01:34:57):
Good morning.

Speaker 49 (01:34:58):
I'm still I'm being on this show for fifteen years
and I've never gotten a starbright bucket.

Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
Oh wow, Wow, Joe screwed up.

Speaker 3 (01:35:08):
I can't believe you wouldn't even just like send her.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Why do you think about.

Speaker 5 (01:35:13):
Jen?

Speaker 13 (01:35:15):
Jen?

Speaker 2 (01:35:15):
Do you have a bunch? Wow?

Speaker 7 (01:35:18):
No, I don't, but I have.

Speaker 2 (01:35:22):
No star can be used for a car because you
can yes on your lawn more your kids, you're just kids. Yeah?
Great anyway, Jen, listen, I worked a yesterday outdoors. It
must have been one hundred and ninety thousand degrees hearing
what in the hell is happening that of this heat wave? Man,

(01:35:43):
I know it's hot.

Speaker 49 (01:35:44):
It's hot. You have you have an unlucky area of
high pressure that's made Yes, it's just pumping in some
moisture and uh, but at least it's keeping you dry.
You don't have any brain, so if you can brave
the heat. You have mostly sunny skies today, high of
eighty six south winds five to ten, he's us and
two feet Inner coastal waters a light chop. Sunny hi
near eighty six. Tomorrow south winds five to ten sees

(01:36:07):
less than two feet. Inner coastal water is a light chop,
and the Key's mostly Sunday today high near eighty six southeast,
the south winds near ten Nott sees one to three
feet subsiding through the afternoon.

Speaker 3 (01:36:18):
Near shore water's a light chop.

Speaker 49 (01:36:20):
And on Sunday and the Keys mostly Sunnay high near
eighty six, southeast winds near ten sees one to two
feet near shore water is a light chop. In Florida Bay, Today,
southeast winds near ten Notts Baywater's a light chop, and
tomorrow southeast winds near ten Baywater's a light chop. This
forecast feels like more like the middle of July forecast

(01:36:41):
than yeah wow, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
It's very very sum like. So here's a great news. Jen.
Frank Farrow, the marketing director of Belleves, just sent me
a stream comment. He goes, tell Jen We're gonna mail
her a box of Starbring Wow. How about Frank stepping
it up for Jed?

Speaker 5 (01:37:02):
Jen Jen, we get you that box of strawberry. Can
we get a picture with you with it?

Speaker 26 (01:37:06):
Please?

Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
Yes, please, I'll show the bucket.

Speaker 5 (01:37:10):
The bucket.

Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
Derek Carr Jersey Car.

Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
By the way, jan I think it's been two years
now when you guys got car and you were all excited.

Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
You're like, we're going to the supermat and.

Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
Here we are.

Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
I just want to say, how was his run? Because
he retired?

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
Right, yeah he did?

Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
Oh come, it was that car.

Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
I'll give you all right, so retired, so it's like
he parked the car.

Speaker 3 (01:37:40):
Get it, he parked the cart.

Speaker 5 (01:37:48):
When does the start?

Speaker 2 (01:37:49):
Get your butters? Joe? Jed that box on its way?
Thanks so much, have a great week. Get thanks, j
Thank you. Now here's Johnny. Johnny's to Bill, the man,
the man with the players. Johnny always is a great
story every week. Head Joe Duddy. Of course, man, oh man, Johnny,

(01:38:10):
nobody come on it to you anyway? What wow? Johnny?
What's the phones? Is our?

Speaker 7 (01:38:17):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:38:18):
I wonder if you forgot because now switched.

Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
No, he's been on point every week. He knows that
we're doing this thing. He could be on a charter,
not able to answer his phone. Things happened. I do
miss his report because he's really just sparky as can be,
you know. I mean, yeah, that's weird. That's maybe it
wasn't so much Dev's fault. Maybe just the phones are

(01:38:42):
having some issues aliens. You know, I'm trying to buy
your alien theory more and more and no really things
things are getting screwed up here. Yeah, okay, all right,
I mean anyway, so we know Johnny. So Johnny did
talk last weekend about the fact that IDA is getting
slammed with these so called wanna be new captains. Like
every guy who retires now decides to be a fishing captain.

(01:39:05):
He buys a little dinky ass boat and he goes
other cuts these captains by half price, right, Yeah, yeah,
goes out there. It steals Johnny's clients pretty much rather
professional captains and goes other and half asses a day.
Yeah okay, Well, I have to say you were just
like two weeks ago.

Speaker 4 (01:39:23):
I have to say, like you know, as a business owner,
that that's competition, man, like you gotta like that.

Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
That's Johnny.

Speaker 4 (01:39:31):
If there's one person that I know can weather that
and and beat that, it's Johnny, you know what I mean?
I mean, it's listen, when when people start seeing stuff
that Johnny, because Johnny, remember owns.

Speaker 3 (01:39:45):
The biggest peacock bass Facebook group on Facebook.

Speaker 4 (01:39:50):
So you know, when when all the eyes are on you,
you're gonna have people that are going to want to
emulate that.

Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
That's true.

Speaker 4 (01:39:56):
True, And so if you know, you could look at
it in a in a negative, but you could also
look at it. And I'll never forget a friend of
mine telling me this when it was happening to me
a little bit with the kayak fishing at our height,
you can also take it as a compliment. When everyone's
trying to be like you and and you know, compete
with you, it's because you're doing something right.

Speaker 10 (01:40:17):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Well, you know what, there's another story about Johnny out
there that really infuriates me, and that was a story
about guys who were out here on the bank throwing
a ten or twelve foot cast net and catching large
mouth and sick ledgit that and peacocks and actually overloading
multiple coolers in the back of the pickup. Ridiculous and
taking these fish home and just just with no regard

(01:40:41):
to the environment, to what you're doing to the lake stocks. Yeah,
it's weird. And I heard that story. I just I
know you get ticked off too. That just blows my tree.

Speaker 4 (01:40:51):
Like I said, we had a group of guys that ruined,
you know, a special lake that Mia and I would fish.

Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
You said, you just got nailed, and yeah, and then.

Speaker 4 (01:41:02):
We you know, I walked down there with her and
there's a guy with like a bunch of these big
peas on a stringer and then they're they're.

Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
Cooking them up on the park rill and you know,
you're sitting there like, dude.

Speaker 2 (01:41:13):
What are you doing?

Speaker 7 (01:41:14):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
And unfortunately, you know what, the cops don't care about that.
I mean, WC is busy enough trying to patrol the
entire state. They don't have time to mondit the kind
of thing. How about that one story about guys you
go bow fishing for cloud knives in Lake Isa, you
know what you know, and almost wipe them out. And
they're not even from Florida. They came from Texas. They
came out here to shoot our cloud knife to kill

(01:41:38):
for what purpose? Right to kill our eat them? Okay, yeah,
they just trash them. They trash them. I don't get
trying to be super serious on the show but we
Joe and I and in this in this program does
promote conservation and being an environmentalist, which I certainly definitely am.
I don't believe that it's seeing trash thought out into
the ocean. I see a guy dubbing a beer cann

(01:42:00):
plastic back out in the ocean fishing. I get ticked
off about dad driving. Oh yeah and pick it up.
So good.

Speaker 4 (01:42:05):
A lot of standing is going on, but whatever, you know,
I think the problem too, unfortunately, is social media, because.

Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
You know we're out in by the way, well well
yeah that and we're at.

Speaker 4 (01:42:19):
An age where, you know, you have everyone's trying to
be like a social media influencer, and they're trying to
get clicks.

Speaker 3 (01:42:27):
They're trying to get like so they're going out there
and they're trying to.

Speaker 4 (01:42:30):
Top the other guy, and you know, they're doing crazier
and crazier and dumber stuff, and it just gets to
a point where you're like, you know, what's what's the
what's the line?

Speaker 6 (01:42:43):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
Right before the break, I'll ask you one question about
social media. This this really fries my noodle. Okay, let's
say I stood and I caught a just call it
a sixty pound mahi and I'm holding it up on
my boat and a photo is taken and I put
on Instagram, right right, you might get fifty like some guys,
right right, Any random girl in a bikini, okay, this

(01:43:05):
drives you, holds up even a small peanut dolphin, Okay,
gets fifty thousand likes.

Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
Well, well, would you rather see eric, That's my point,
the girl in the bikini.

Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
I'd rather see me holding a sixty pound mahi. There's
up Jeck holding a skinny wheny little mini mahi with
a string bikini up her button.

Speaker 5 (01:43:23):
Yeah, but she's got other things to look at too.

Speaker 2 (01:43:25):
I've also proved to you.

Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
I've also proved to you that a lot of those girls,
when you actually look at her friends on there right,
their they're bots, but they have their sponsors by them.

Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
A lot of those those and for both girls, they
could make some money outa that's just got a scam. Listen,
what if I was out there holding a six pound
of mahi with a speedo on, or maybe one of
those French guys who were that thing up their crack
ass crack.

Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
Yeah, but you know what, you'd probably get a million likes.

Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
You think, But that's where we're at from one of
the part of the audience would be like that lower
lower bod Eric Joe.

Speaker 5 (01:44:03):
I know a social media influence her I talk with
who I did some business with. There are guys sending
her offers her twenty five hundred dollars to smell her socks,
to buy her socks.

Speaker 2 (01:44:16):
Serious, Okay, now we're going off with a whole new
world here.

Speaker 5 (01:44:20):
Yeah, you're talking about girls and bikinis.

Speaker 2 (01:44:22):
I'll just say, man, that's just not a fair thing. Man,
guys don't stand a chance when it comes to the
bikini photo of the fish versus the guy was old fish.

Speaker 4 (01:44:29):
There is a girl that went to high school with
me that she she's also like a big whatever on
social media.

Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
And she does like the foot fetish stuff. All right,
Now we're getting off of a but another planet.

Speaker 3 (01:44:44):
That's how that's how she markets her business.

Speaker 6 (01:44:47):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:44:49):
Gladly this all ties in together because fish and socks
kind of smell similar.

Speaker 2 (01:44:54):
