Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're on board the Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show with
legendary fisherman Eric Brandon, an extreme angler Joe Hector, powered
by Mercury Marine, Go Boldly.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Holy Basctna fry clamp strips. Who Yeah, buddy, Welcome to
the Nautical Ventures Weekly Fisherman Show, the number one fishing
show on the planet, brought you by the number one
coat dealership in all of America. So it's a I
don't know, warmish kind of Saturday morning. It's gonna be
(00:36):
lit toasty. Yeah, man, I would know I was actually fishing,
unlike you this week you were. I was fishing with
the double D and panos.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
You have any photos that are decent that we can show, well,
you said, sorry.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I set weren't in a proper format. You can't put it.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
You know that better than anyone else on the show.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
All that matters to me is the fact that I
had him in my sweet little baby palms here holding
a thirty pound black fintuna, not one, but five of
my man just whoppers, You had five thirty pound black fintuna.
They weighed the doc thirty pounds five twenty eight twenty nine.
They were ginormous I'd love to show the pictures streaming yet, man,
(01:15):
which is what I already shared it. We are streaming.
Why don't see the stream on my finger?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:19):
We don't listen every week, but that way.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, okay, whatever, my damn crappy phone services volume two
volumes off, Joe, don't start with me, man, I'm not
What are you cradling in your little crotch area there?
It's kind of a it's my favorite fish.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
So this is the first place Summer Slam Part one trophy. Yes,
made by my man, worn page.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
With Cabbage Shack.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
Artworks, Yes, and uh and powercoreps rods.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Look at this beautiful custom wood first place three foot trophy.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
To the wood that makes it good?
Speaker 6 (01:56):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Look at that? Huh that's really happening. Man, want to
keep it? Nice job? I wish I could keep it.
What's the actual retail value of some kind of a
like that? Do you think custom wood ones?
Speaker 7 (02:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:07):
I mean if you well, if you go to like
the keys, they got a lot of like woodwork stuff.
They range from like three hundred to like eight hundred bucks. Wow,
like big ones, you know what I mean, like like
this size. So it matters the name matters customized. You
know how they do it.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
It looks a lot better in my lap, because I
look a lot better than you do. So you're gonna
hand it to me robably make it look better. It's
too heavy, you think I can't handle it. Just isn't
that pretty though? That's your small shirt, your words. Someone's
gonna win one of these.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
He also made like a mahi all that. We'll get that.
We have a capital that the whole b Yeah, okay,
So you want to bring out the first man in
the shoot, Captain j Man, it's your turn. I sang
the cabana last time. Okay. He goes to Guatemala to
hang out with all the I have actually no for Guatemala. Well,
(03:00):
rise with Guatemala. Salamala, Yo, Mama Guatemala. Hanging with his mama, okay, okay.
And he's catching big giant fish and he's none of
them right, He's the one, the only okay called Dan Panos,
the guy who sucks. Yes, sure, that'd be Jimbo, the
only one, the only man, Thomas, So, the Thomas flyer
(03:22):
here he is, Oh, how's that Jimbo?
Speaker 8 (03:26):
That that was pretty funny. I'd be laughing I can't
thank you of anything that rhymes with Guatemali either, So there's.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
No walla walla baby out though. But anyway, guacamole, guacam only. Jim, goodboarding, buddy,
Hell are you man?
Speaker 8 (03:45):
I'm good. Good morning. Looks like we've got a beautiful day.
Nice and calm. Might be a little too calm, but
I'll take it. And there's gonna be ten million boats
on the water. I think the boat ramps are going
to close at seven o'clock. I just went by mathieson
Hammock on my way down to the Flyer downtown and uh,
(04:06):
the line was about forty boats deep on old cutlers.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
So why.
Speaker 8 (04:12):
Well, because you got to get out there early to
get your boat in the water before the ramps close.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
But it's not a big weekend like Memorial weekends. Flat
people are catching fish.
Speaker 8 (04:22):
It's still it's a it's a nice weather, it's the summertime.
Fish has been halfway decent. You know, whether everybody got that.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Memo or not.
Speaker 8 (04:32):
But to get out on the water on the weekend,
you gotta go super early. Nowadays, you know those ramps,
they they're closing.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Up early, felt Stevid, Do we have a little piece.
Can we run a little tidbit from my day three
days ago? At all played for Jimbo on.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
The show, the one you can't see the captain.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, if you just run to the audio, it'd be fine.
Just run whatever you got.
Speaker 8 (04:54):
I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Jimbo, we don't suck today.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Maybe you suck today, but we don't why. That's Captain
Dean Panos on the fly bridge of his boat. He
heard about Jimbo calling about saying, if you don't catch fish,
Dean sucks. Okay, we hooked up well, and Dean goes
(05:21):
back to jim jim we don't suck. Okay, just see No,
that's you.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Suck today, but we don't suck today.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
You're playing over and over again man during the show
with JIBB. But anyway, Jimbo, how at.
Speaker 8 (05:40):
That's very good? Yeah, yeah, we we go back and forth. Yeah,
we're all of us on the water, good friends, and
we harass each other and give each other you know what,
and uh, we have fun along the way. So it's
all all in good fun. But you guys did have
a great and the fishing it hasn't been great the
(06:03):
last few days, but it's been all right. We had
Like last week, there was quite a few dolphins around.
There's less dolphin the last few days, but the few
that have been caught have been a lot better size.
I heard a one up to forty pounds. I didn't
hear the exact way, but an estimated forty pounder yesterday
(06:24):
caught about fifteen miles off shore. There's been scattered grass
from the beach on out, but there are some scattered
grass out there that this forty pounder was caught on
just blind trolling. There was a couple twenty pounders caught,
and then a handful of schoolies. So there are dolphin.
They're not six, they're not running by any means, but
(06:46):
there's been some decent ones caught and then a little
closer along the edge of the Gulf stream. Most of
us have been li bating, so the water's really bleue,
the currents ripping, so the conditions have been really good.
We'd like to put the kite up. I don't think
that's going to happen today, at least not in the morning.
It doesn't look like but there's been some black me intunas. Still,
(07:09):
you guys didn't catch them all with Dean you left
us some thank you, And there's been a few sails
and then even an occasional dolphin in their tight fishing
along the drop off, and a few kings, and not
a lot of kings, but the few kings have been
a little better size as well. So it's a little
(07:30):
bit of everything. Hell's that sounds?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
It's great and quiet, Joe, you want to bibe there
a little bit. I'm just listening to all the awesome reports.
You want to ask them how deep, how far, how wide?
How you win? Questions?
Speaker 9 (07:45):
The color bait color bait.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
So with the tuna, are you are you getting them
on the kite or are you getting them jigging?
Speaker 2 (07:54):
What's your uh?
Speaker 10 (07:56):
You?
Speaker 8 (07:56):
So they're for me? I don't typically jig or it's
like almost unheard of that we jig so on where
kite fishing or fishing just flatlines if there's not enough wind.
The ones that we catch on the live bait are
typically going to be a lot bigger than the ones
you catch on the jigs. So the jig call ones.
(08:20):
If you catch a fifteen pounder, that's a big one,
whereas we're catching twenty to thirty pounders on the live baits,
and we do catch some of the smaller ones as well,
but typically a lot bigger ones on the live bait.
So if you can kite fish, that's the best bait presentation.
But if there's not enough wind, we do catch plenty
(08:41):
of them just drifting our live baits or slow trolling them.
The only thing is you might have to scale down
on your leader if you're slow trolling because you got
all your tackle in the water, Versus if your kite fishing,
all your tackles kind of out of the water except
for your bait. You could go with a little heavier leader,
(09:03):
but we still get them on the heavy leader or
heavy being say forty pound floor carbon, but we'll go
down to thirty pounds if we're flatlining.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Jimo, do you use do you when you're just drifting?
Do you use a shotgun which is like you know,
a rode like the line super far out?
Speaker 8 (09:23):
Sometimes it just it depends how much seaweed is around,
because a lot of times when you got that bait
way back to you can't tell if you got weed
or if your bait's dead. So I'd like to actually
be able to see them or have them fairly close. Yeah,
the distance back really doesn't mean a lot for tune
(09:44):
as it might, but for dolphin, for sale fish, for
all the other fish, they're not afraid of the boat.
They'll come right up and eat right next to the boat.
So yeah, I don't have to let your baits way way.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Back because I don't Jimbo.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Like the biggest black fins I ever caught was on
a shotgun for whatever reason.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I don't know if it's effective or not. Maybe they
just bit it because it was.
Speaker 8 (10:07):
It doesn't hurt, of course, But if you're fishing out
of a kayak, which I suspect you are, you're about
as stealthy. You're as stealthy and quiet as you could
possibly be. So getting way back to get away from
the sounds of the boat and stuff like that isn't
gonna matter on a kayak.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
I will at least I've caught I've caught tuna like jigging,
like when I'm getting high speed jigging, and literally I
would hear a slam on the bottom of my kayak.
They were literally under the kayak and would hit my
bait right before it came up. All and Eric, you're
like quote unquote thirty pound tuna. You didn't catch that
(10:49):
one though. My son Matthew club that well, but you
were holding it for a photo.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Yeah. No, I'm just wondering. Well, you're not gonna fake
me in, I'm not gonna suck. Just asking a question.
I caught a twenty eight pounder, okay, but.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Is that wrong to be holding someone else's fishes that like?
Speaker 11 (11:07):
Not?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I'm not going to say anything. I'm not gonna say
I was gonna say, though, if you're want to catch
to it, okay, Oh please tell us. Definitely be a
boat that does not suck. That's key. Wow.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
Yeah, that's always a good choice. You go to pick
a charter boat, pick one that doesn't suck.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
That doesn't suck, don't look for a suck boat after
at their duck ramp for those guys are all light.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
Well, you know, I've been charter fishing a long time,
and over the years there's been plenty of days that
we sucked.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
So we all have good hear once in a while
the jabos great, all right, Wow, weants to have a
wonderfully sucky Saturday and go suck them up.
Speaker 8 (11:52):
Yeah, I ain't going that. We're going to suck the
ocean dry and later too.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
I've a matter of fact, that boy an duds much man,
great report, buddy.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
You got it. Good luck, everybody.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I take a little break. You just open a candle,
will pass on a few topics we're gonna touch on
here shortly. Oh no, holding a fish and other things.
I'm just to actually catch that fish. Eric, What it's
actually the fish, Eric, it's a it's a legitimate Eric.
Oh yeah, No, it was a great picture, Joe. No,
I didn't know.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
It was just it was a great picture of you
holding the quote unquote thirty pound tuna.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, and you know, I just wanted to know. You know,
jealousy is just wreaking out of your pores. Okay, you're
just dripping jealousy, jealous about catch the fish.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
So how could he be, John.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Fish Lighter, I'm not the one holding somebody else's fish,
So how would I be jealousy? What hold this? Okay?
Give him so mad this, Joe, We'll take a little
I'm not a damn damn thing. Yeah, yeah, get there.

Nothing we got a good morning? He start with the
guy with the greatest laugh and the fishing. I was
trying to talk about the guy coming up forever. You
went off with some great good as usual. Yeah, Cory Noahkowski,
(17:29):
the snakehead record holder multiple times of might add good
morning eight times.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
You won't catch him holding someone else's for that one. Okay,
Corey doesn't hold other people's fish.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Hold Corey, good one to tell you, buddy, Corey?
Speaker 9 (17:47):
Okay, how you doing doing good?
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I'm putting knitwitz but anyway, by friend.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Hey, Corey, would you ever hold someone else's fish in
front of you and just show it off like it's
yours even though it wasn't.
Speaker 9 (17:58):
No, I don't.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
All right, Corey, have a nice day. You're done. You're
out of here anyway, Dory, how's the fishing man? What's
your buddy having it?
Speaker 21 (18:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 22 (18:13):
Things have been things have been things have been good.
We having people out past week doing going doing go
with snakeheads. Had a guy out one day, got a
got a ten pounder and a nine pounder as well,
so they're both spawned snakeheads. So this it was a
it was a good bite. You've missed a lot of
(18:35):
good ones too. If we would have had probably all
the ones that for most of them that he missed
or had line break, it would have been even better day.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
But it was.
Speaker 22 (18:44):
It was good one day and then uh.
Speaker 7 (18:47):
Two.
Speaker 22 (18:48):
A couple of guys another day they got quite a
few snakeheads seven pounds, and then uh uh the other
guy also got his personal best large amouth six and
a half pounds on satur base and they got quite
a few other large amount Do you.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Fight a lot of your clients lose good fish based
upon the fact that just bad fishermen or they just
do some nito thing like torque down the drag too hard,
or just don't fight it right, or why are they
losing a fish like that when they attacked that, say
frog man, they're they're ambushing that sucker. They're getting hooked
up right.
Speaker 22 (19:22):
So yeah, it was a couple. There's a couple of things. One,
there was some situations like the one day with the guy.
He he had fish that were short striking, so it
was kind of outut of his It was kind of
out of his hands, you know, meaning that it didn't
take the it didn't take the bait or the frog
(19:42):
all the way. They would just kind of like nip,
they only take like half of it or a quarter
of it, so or they just completely miss it. But
then there were other situations where yes, he would have
a fish that would blow up on it, hit the
crap out of it, and you know, setting the hook
was a problem, you know, or it's just not not
(20:04):
hitting hard enough. That's a big thing with snakeheads. You
have to hit them super hard because they have a
very bony set.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Hooks a problem. Really, he grabs a frog, what do
you do? You just yank back on that rod man.
It's set that hook, right.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
Yeah, Well.
Speaker 22 (20:21):
For some people it's just because when I set the hook,
it's you know, you know it, I mean the boat's moving,
you know, I'm setting it like ripping their head off,
you are, yeah, I just yeah, especially when you know
they're big, you know, just because those fish will take
off on you. I mean he had a couple of
times the guy had one to blow up on it
and the thing would race off.
Speaker 7 (20:43):
You know.
Speaker 22 (20:43):
It's like a friggin missile. And you got to keep
up with those fish kind of like a snook. When you,
you know, you hook them, they they take off, you know,
they just you got to really keep up in the tension.
You got to get the line out. You got to
get the line up and then set them, you know,
set the hook. But it's also like the direct and
you you when you point your rod, you gotta kind
of point it out the fish when you get hit
(21:03):
and set. You know, some of these guys they set
or they're getting ready to sit, but they're already at
like twelve o'clock and it's like no, no, you got
to put your rod tip down then set so you
can you know, really dry that.
Speaker 23 (21:13):
Hook into them right right right.
Speaker 22 (21:16):
It's it's out of practice. It's a big thing. The
more you do it, the better you get at it.
So that's sure, that's the big thing.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
So good practice area. Yeah, to go to a small
pond and uh hand feed them chicken wings and various
other kind of table fair get them all nice and
you chunked up and happy and fat, of course, and
then don't feed them for a there. Two, that's a
little plopping frog in there. I just have a field day.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Hey, can I ask you guys a question?
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Or Corey, I'm opening up again? Manyeah?
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Elon, Uh you know Elon or our fishing friend. Ye,
caught a snakehead on the lake which we're on right
now the other day. I've lived on this lake for
twenty five years. I've never seen a snake out. How
do snakeheads? Did somebody just bring them in here? How
do they get over here?
Speaker 22 (22:01):
Well that's the Well, let me ask where where are you?
Where are you located?
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Just we're in a Miami where like in the County
Line Road area, and it's a private lake in the
last park, a private lake that has never ever had snakeheads?
So what what's going on here?
Speaker 22 (22:16):
Yeah? So that would be more than likely that somebody
moved them there, or they moved in to a if
you have a canal or well it's.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Landlocked, so there's no landlock.
Speaker 24 (22:26):
Yeah, there's no access, So it's somebody moved them in
there then yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure, that's how they've
been getting into other areas that I've found where it's like, wha,
how the heck, how the heck they get in here?
Speaker 20 (22:38):
You know?
Speaker 22 (22:39):
So, I mean I've caught them up at Wellington and
north of Southern Boulevards.
Speaker 19 (22:43):
So oh wow.
Speaker 22 (22:45):
Yeah. So I mean there's places that it's like, whoa,
how did you get here? But it's not because people
moving them.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Corey. What's your top five spots to catch snakeheads here
in South Florida? Please?
Speaker 8 (23:00):
Okay?
Speaker 22 (23:00):
So top five? Well out in pomp and No. A
lot of those canals and lakes out there at one
of my best areas catching the big fish. A lot
of those lakes and canals over there I've caught that's
actually caught that fourteen and a half, that's forty inches
a couple of weeks back for a few weeks back there,
you go. That's just that's an old area. They've been
(23:22):
there for a long time. Let's see, Boak is a
good area too. I do well up there. Wellington's good too,
all right, that's a good area. So you know, people
know about it. But that's an area that I catch
a lot of good fish. Kind of when just you know,
kind of get out of the way, Parkland's good. Parkland's
(23:44):
a good area as well, and North flarerdo nor.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
You never mentioned the Everglades. Thought'd be like number one
on his list. I guess not.
Speaker 22 (23:57):
Well, they're they're close, but they're not wait out there yet.
They're not out in the Everglades. They haven't made it
out there yet. Fish out there. Yeah, yeah, it's.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Funny, Joe, Like, are you kidding? The first thing I
would have thought was that snake heads or the glades
that's interesting off the bank man, or something. You know.
Speaker 22 (24:17):
Granted, there are canals that run like right next to
the Everglades or like, you know, you'll have a canal
levee and then the Everglades are on the other side,
but it's the canal will have them, but the other
side of the levee doesn't have the weird So.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
What's lakeside Steve Gray's crib and catch a few there
you go.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
Hey, Corey, I noticed trade winds. There's big fish in there. Man,
is there some monster snakeheads in there?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
You think?
Speaker 22 (24:52):
I mean back in the I mean back in the day.
We just to get some good fish out of there.
But it's very it's very overfished. The area kind of
how I feel. I never really I haven't really caught
any giants out of there, I mean compared to other places.
But yeah, I mean I wouldn't be surprised. I mean
it's a deep, deep lake. I mean he's catching really
(25:14):
big large amouth out of that lake. Oh yeah, I
know some guy that cast some ten pounders out of
that lake.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 21 (25:22):
Man.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Also, Corey, Uh you said we talk about live bait occasionally.
We talked about crowdads or whatever else. Are they they
pass on a shiner? Are they ever attack shiny?
Speaker 7 (25:35):
They do?
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 22 (25:37):
Yeah they do, Yeah they do. I mean those things,
those things will hit just about pretty much anything if
you if you put it in their face and you
present it the right way, they will hit it.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Yeah. So there there.
Speaker 9 (25:53):
I mean.
Speaker 22 (25:55):
I mean the big thing too, is they eat their own,
they eat other snakeheads.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
So they pretty much crazy. I see peacocky throw and
so they all are cannibals, man, pretty yeah, you know
I's true.
Speaker 16 (26:05):
Man?
Speaker 22 (26:06):
Yeah, I know you too.
Speaker 2 (26:07):

knocked that off entirely, please Captain Wayne Cod the man
on the Reward Fishing Fleet, the legend himself.
Speaker 37 (31:27):
Wayne, you're getting you're getting a little closer to my
my requested and intro music, but you're getting.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
There trying to like sir Wayne. Okay, all right, told.
Speaker 37 (31:40):
You man, you gotta play me some l a woman
you know.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Like a lot those great classes.
Speaker 37 (31:46):
Nothing better nobody.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
That Wayne talking about fishing on the Reward Man. What's
going on? Dude?
Speaker 23 (31:55):
All right?
Speaker 37 (31:55):
Guys, guess what summer is hit with the thumb? And
I ain't telling you something you don't know. My god,
is it hot in the daytime. So it's all your fishermen.
First off, you know, we run a schedule, whether we
like it or not, whether the fish like it or not,
and that's.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
What we have to do.
Speaker 37 (32:09):
However, However, as seasons change and things change, you got
to adjust a little bit. So you know, we do
like a nine am to fifth we get in about
one one fifteen, we turn around, go out. The cool
thing is the afternoons. We got a little bit of
free time to hang out. And right now there's been
some really big kingfish and you don't need anything fancy
(32:30):
to catch them. You don't need them. This is the
next couple of weeks before the full moon this month.
It could be phenomenal. I mean, the other day we
we just you know, we we fish stock in standard rigs.
We also have library on boat on board sometimes. We
caught quite a few groupers last week, some really nice ones.
So you guys want to fish for something really big,
you know, come out and give us a shot, because
(32:53):
we've got I don't know, six or eight nice gag
and black groupers last week and we target them when when,
when the opportunity presents itself, So anyway, get that out
of the way, but especially the late afternoon thing and
not deep water. You fish eighty to one hundred feet
hundred and twenty feet. You can just put a nice
eight or ten inch fresh value out there with a
half ounce lead on his nose on a three hook rig.
(33:15):
I just floated and unk coum and you'll get big kings.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
We had three or four the other day, you know,
eighteen to.
Speaker 37 (33:20):
Twenty five pounds, and you know, you put a twenty
pound spinning rot in a rod holder and watch that bite.
You want to have to get some excitement, so they're
gonna be around for a while. What I like is
I'm not seeing the commercial guys out there pounding them,
which is a real good thing. So at least a
little more for us, Yeah, at least more for us.
So staying away from the midday, if you could plan
(33:41):
it depends on how long of a day you want
to fish.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
But you know, the daybreak thing is always good.
Speaker 37 (33:47):
But actually you know by ten thirty eleven, a lot
of times everything's going to shut down for a while.
If you and if you fished out there a lot,
you know what I mean. So if you're going to
plan a perfect day, man, you do do your reef
stuff or whatever early and and then you go out
and you know, the deeper the water, the stupid of
the fish. So you go out and try to catch
(34:07):
tiles if it's legal whatever in the afternoon. That you
have to hit the late afternoon bite, the dusk bite
for black ntunas and big kings. Then then you throw
the anchor and you go catch mangrove snappers because we're
just starting to clock them now. So all summer long.
That's the other thing.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Beat the heat.
Speaker 37 (34:25):
Just go out at night.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah. I want to tell Wayne though, back to what's
coming about midday. About one o'clock or so, we fish
this week, Wayne and hooked up with some really great tuna.
Uh kind of an overcast morning eleven o'clock looked over
aund ten or so, the bite came on. But Wayne,
when it got sunny as hell or aund one o'clock,
I mean, just shut off entirely. You could.
Speaker 37 (34:49):
Hey, Hey, the BFT they put on, they put onto
some and go down deep and you know they're simping
on a cocktail three hundred feet. You can mark them
by the way. I said another A I got you.
I always got to throw you guys a bone somewhere.
But riding around out there while you're trolling if IF
and I used to do this on vertical jigging trips.
If I was trolling a little weed line three four
(35:11):
or five hundred foot of water and you mark pods
of these black fin tunes, I would just let out
a yell on the loud speaker, and I have guys
back there dropping vertical jigs. I tell them how far? Yeah,
And I will tell you better than fifty percent of
the time. You got to trust your electronics. And these
black fans may only be three pounds, but they may
be twenty pounds. Sure, and they're stupid down there. They're
stupid down there. Dump the line, see how fast you
(35:32):
can jig it back and you get them started. Then
if you get two or three on, you sprinkle chum
behind the boats and pilchers. Then hang on.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Wait, So there's all kinds of little ways. You're really
give me a lot of the news for Celtic fish
by calling it just multiple stupids. You're like, wow, man,
whoa and the fish have no one to represent them
as far as the rebuttal, you know what you guys
are going to be.
Speaker 37 (35:56):
Do you want to go to seminars and listen to
guys that are twenty years old to tell you what
to do when you've been doing it for fifty years
and then you look at them like stop it. No really,
there's so many self made experts, you know, and then
then never not in their head. Oh yeah, okay, Well
we're going to start doing some slow pitch. Slow pitch
(36:18):
Sundays is coming soon. See, I'm not gonna let you
get a word in edge. Guys, you want to learn
how to slow pitch.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
You can't take stuff. No wait, I'm thinking you know
what a lot of times calling you stupid fish? How
many stupid anglers do you fight on your boat? Because
there's a lot of knuckleheads out there that no idea
what the hell they're doing?
Speaker 9 (36:35):
Man?
Speaker 37 (36:35):
You know, I mean, yeah, stupid it's not the right word. See,
they follow their instincts. Yeah, and this is part of
what the next thing I'm going to say is it
common sense is instinctual. So sometimes you got to think
about what you're going after and what do you got
to do? What do you think would work? It's instead
of reading a book or whatever. You know, a lot
of it's common sense, man.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
Like instinct.
Speaker 37 (36:55):
True, you gotta think, you gotta find what that word
is that in this day and age, is there any
of that going on? And no, that's out the window.
They should be a whole new thing forget about truth,
how about just the common sense.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Waite, thank you so, reward Fleet, reward.
Speaker 37 (37:19):
Fleet night trip's going to be cranking man eight to thirty,
get on your.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Boat, call you to look you up on the line.
And what's the best way to get ahold of.
Speaker 37 (37:26):
Yeah, fishing Miami, the Fishingmiami dot com. There's only one
of a kind. And then there's reward fishing Fleet on
Facebook and follow directions. So let's take your fishing man,
bring your kid on your thirteenth free So.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
They're going going for a lot of branded watches the
show the first time listeners, if a guy want to
take his family out to catch a fish today, tell
them within a minute or so where to go, what
their best game plan would be to hook up? Please?
Speaker 37 (37:52):
You mean if they have a boat or don't have
a boat, have a.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Boat, depends on a boat?
Speaker 38 (37:56):
Yeah whatever, Yeah, yeah, If I had a boat right now,
probably I would you know, if I just had the
little kids and wanted to catch fish, I'd go throw
the anchor out and put a chum bag out with
you know, just like they say, you know, Patrey fishing
in the Keys, you kill the fish off Miami.
Speaker 37 (38:11):
I posted a video last week of a young man
with us. We're twenty five feet of water, anchored in
the sand. We were chumming and he caught a couple
of nice muttons and I had fifty thousand hits on
a video. Will he just cranking them? The mutton in there,
you know, and there's crystal clear water. They're there, they're
there still, they're about ready to push out there warm something.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Yeah, I would do that, just Ben Rods, Ben Rods. Yeah, kids. Yeah,
you know.
Speaker 37 (38:36):
People would say to me, how do you find the reef? Well,
how about you you run north their south? You point
the boat out when you see a big bump, turn around,
throw the anchor.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
How about bringing the shrimp? Shrimp Wayne, I mean everything,
shrip everything.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
By the way, another way you can catch fish is
take your boat and tie up at Wayne's dock and
then jump on his boat and go out fishing with him.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Well hopefully. Yeah, you know, we're restricted a lot.
Speaker 37 (39:00):
Uh you know what what what guys like Bouncer and
I and a bunch of the guys have learned over
the years is that we're restrictive in having to run
boats to try to take people out that don't know
I on certain time schedules.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
It restricts what we really know.
Speaker 37 (39:13):
I will say that. So we do the best we can.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
Have a great weekend away. Thanks Wayne.
Speaker 37 (39:19):
All right, guys, let's go. Let's do let's do a
show from the boat man.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
I would love we'll work it out thinking about what
we have to cough up the cash and that we'll
figure that out.
Speaker 37 (39:28):
Eric, we'll leave the dock at five way whatever.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
Goodbye, Thank you very much. Joe bugs down. So all
is that now? It's just the assassination mode. Do the
sound of the cockback spirit? Gud blown a spirit through
a bright hole right to the eye. Thanks Outstading. It's
(40:00):
what I do. You never miss Yeah, uh huh, let's
talk to gym chief you miss must I mean, shall
we yes?
Speaker 23 (40:09):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (40:09):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Now?
Speaker 2 (40:13):
First weekend you Mickey Mouse's mother. Man, it's amazing they
out through the first try.
Speaker 7 (40:19):
How it?
Speaker 39 (40:20):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Man?
Speaker 7 (40:23):
Alright? So hey, yeah, let me get to the good
stuff first.
Speaker 23 (40:26):
Let me do it.
Speaker 7 (40:28):
Conditions continues. The conditions continue to improve. Buddy, I'm underwater.
It's been nice. Uh top side, it's been nice, a
little refreshing. So eighty degrees.
Speaker 40 (40:41):
So all you locals that wait for that big eighty
degrees to jump in the water, now's the time start
getting in, getting your mask snorkeling fins, what you know what.
Speaker 7 (40:52):
I like a wetsuit. I went from the five mil
down to the three mil.
Speaker 40 (40:56):
Visibility has been pretty decent, although we're having what's called
up well uh this time of year.
Speaker 7 (41:01):
I think the winter kind.
Speaker 40 (41:03):
Of says, hey, one more shot, and then you get
some stuff from deep and it comes up and it
kind of messes up the clarity in the water, and
visibility is not that good, but you run into some
good stuff and uh remarkably the other day, last Saturday.
Speaker 7 (41:19):
We went north.
Speaker 40 (41:19):
We went all the way on up to Delray Flat,
Flat Flat, did the walls up there and nothing.
Speaker 7 (41:27):
I mean, you gotta got a hog fish and a
dog sper.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
I'm so happy to hear that news, Gym. I'm just
dancing like a man. I'm so happy there's nothing to
shoot the brain hole.
Speaker 41 (41:38):
Joe Manne don't have to deal with the more eel
that wants your dog Snapper.
Speaker 40 (41:51):
My buddy Steve shoots a dog snapper in the reef.
Right spears it and he goes to pull it out,
and it's like was pulling back.
Speaker 7 (41:58):
He's like, what's the heck? It was a big old
moray eel. So he wanted he wanted dinner too, buddy,
he wanted we we feed the ocean. We feed the ocean. Okay,
just remember that.
Speaker 24 (42:14):
Uh.
Speaker 40 (42:15):
And then the next day remarkably Sunday with a little
buffy top side, but it was it was we went
south forty we were in forty foot of water. I
mean three black grouper, two red grouper. It was just
sleigh fest hog fish.
Speaker 7 (42:33):
It was a mutton.
Speaker 21 (42:35):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (42:35):
Even a porky got got speared.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Uh you know, even ay Eric, you know, you know
finn is fair gay with his knit and his freaking
what assassination spirits.
Speaker 7 (42:50):
That you know, that's that's that's the thing. You get
down there, there's all kinds of fish.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
I mean, there's yeah, no, you can't.
Speaker 19 (43:00):
That's the problem.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
While you'rerse while you're at it, put a spear of
the seahorse sprainhole there you go. See what kind of
a shot you are?
Speaker 3 (43:14):
A question for you with a summertime here and I
used to Scooby, do you guys sometimes go without wetsuits
because something's so hot, It's like you really hunt up,
I know, if you're like in reefs and up against things.
Speaker 7 (43:26):
Yeah, guys guys do that. They'll you know, they'll go
without wetsuits.
Speaker 9 (43:30):
Uh.
Speaker 40 (43:31):
I'm I'm not one of those guys because they just
seem to always, you know, be in the reef. And
I don't want to be in the reef, but that's
what happens. Sometimes you just got to be real careful.
But yeah, I have a lot of guys that die
just uh shorts and uh and and what do they
call it? Like a rash guard And that's it.
Speaker 7 (43:49):
That's exactly it. And and I mean it works, uh
personally for a little bit of protection. But but that's
just me, you know. And I wear it's eighty six
degrees and I'll still wear three guard.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
We have one for your race guard.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Red guard is just.
Speaker 40 (44:11):
The top, just just the top, uh, And a lot
of it will have some like when you're loading a
spear gun, you can either do hip loading or chest loading.
Speaker 7 (44:20):
A lot of guys do chest loading, and it has
like an extra pad there in the middle of the chest.
They call that a rash guard.
Speaker 40 (44:27):
A lot of guys use I'm a big hammerhead guy.
He makes some really good soft products, you know, mass snorkel, fins, booties.
Speaker 7 (44:38):
All that good stuff. You know, I gotta throw out
a little bit of stuff, right Eric.
Speaker 5 (44:43):
You know it, don't chill, you don't kill Hey, Jim,
this this time of year, are you seeing like kingfish
come in or any like polgically?
Speaker 40 (44:51):
Yeah, the week before my buddy, uh Andy spear of
kingfish forty three inches, so.
Speaker 7 (45:00):
You know, mid midwater, he's just kind of hanging around
and all of a sudden there's a kingfish. So yes.
Speaker 39 (45:07):
Uh.
Speaker 40 (45:07):
Then the other day, uh we did the old run
out a little bit flat conditions and spirit amy or two.
Speaker 37 (45:15):
So you know, man, Yes, it's kind of fun.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
It's kind of fun, buddy, Look at Eric. I think
on this segment. From now on, I'm gonna pull my
headset off, walk around the corner, maybe pick a little
fruit over and see when you're letting you and Joe
just talk about fish assassination for five minutes, come back
at the ring and say goodbye, dude, you just killed tuna. Yeah,
I didn't choose them to the freaking brain hole sleeping
(45:41):
next to a lobster pot.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
Did you keep the fish?
Speaker 7 (45:46):
That's the key, That's the key.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
I want to beat. Uh huh Eric Eric Brandon Foundation

as a kicker and forget about it.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
Oh yeah, very cool man. And how deep were you
around getting the kingfish?
Speaker 9 (57:15):
Like one? Normal range?

Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Okay, I'll just we we already had a leader that kind.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Of did that. Okay, we won't go there either. We
gotta got friend Benny for Benny's fishy charters online number
one Jojoe Today. There he is. There's champion Panthers going
to the Stanley Cup Vinyls again. Man, how about that?
It's exciting ties to be a Panther fan, my brother. Wow, Benny,
(01:05:44):
you are true. You a guy who actually follows this team.
You actually fly to other cities. You're one of the
most diehard fans I ever met. You gotta be elated, buddy.
Speaker 10 (01:05:52):
I'm serious. I mean, I'm really a Rangers fan. I
just got Panthers season tickets because I love hockey.
Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Come on, man, you do the whole mistink about your
friend's great fandom there, man, come on, yeah, but he's
taking out the winner on the bandwagon list. Oh wow,
my god. This is the same thing with the Jets.
You're actually probably with a Titans fan. We just having
a log on to the Jets because you've got free tickets.
Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
Where are what hey, Benny, Benny, is it wrong for
somebody to hold someone else's fish up in front of
him on a photograph and represent it like it's there's
even though it was got by someone else.
Speaker 10 (01:06:26):
Boy, I mean, if it's a pretty girl and she
has a pretty butt and she turns around a little
bit for the picture.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
No, it was Eric and he's not pretty, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
So I got some big two of fish this week. Okay,
my son man got the big one. It was thirty pounds. Okay.
I want to hold a winning fish, okay for a photo.
What is so wrong with that? No, I caught my
own twenty eight pounders. Where was that one that's on
the deck with the deck photo? Yeah, effort whatever we're
talking to Benny, not be okay, do you mind he's
(01:06:58):
a guest. It's a team effort.
Speaker 10 (01:07:00):
If your son was fighting the fish and you even
moved one rod out of a rod holder from to
keep walking around the side of the boat, you helped
land that fish.
Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
Benny, don't be kissing anybody.
Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Fish so long. I was pouring a little bit of
water down his neck to cool him off because he
was fighting at fish. Probably four hundred yards of line
was out joels off a kite. Okay, as Betty knows
off a kite. It's a long ass haul. Where you
thinking about being sharked up my head?
Speaker 4 (01:07:26):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (01:07:27):
I spoke to the charter guy and he said, you
grabbed the rod and you were like fumbling the rod
and was about to slip out of your hand, and
you were having a tough time with it, and he
said you had to pass it off to your son.
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
Betty. We were friends, man, Why did you set me
up like that? Man?
Speaker 3 (01:07:41):
Come on, love, Benny, Love Benny.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
I'm sorry, Betty. I could I could take it, and
I could give it. But anyway, man, what'side board your
your boats these days? What are you guys doing? Man?
For real?
Speaker 10 (01:07:51):
Yeah, I mean, dude, it's you know, full time, I mean,
full fledged, real hot fishing right now, at least off Pompino.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
I mean, I'm hearing great reports up and down the
whole coast.
Speaker 10 (01:08:00):
But literally, just one of my boats yesterday caught mahi, tuna,
kingfish and a sailfish on one charter. You know, between
both boats they had multiple kings, multiple tunas. The mahi's
still been thick up and down the whole coast north
and south of Pompino, you know, summertime sales are always
(01:08:22):
fun to deal with.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
But it's uh, you know, it's just good fishing right now,
nice outstanding. So we're talking to cover our caps up. Betty.
This happened to you a lot when you'd like to
say tuna fishing, Like around one o'clock, the bike just
kind of turns off. We were doing our best at
like ten o'clock in the morning, kind of overcast, guys,
the little tuna fish could kind of like see when
the big eyeballs open, man one o'clock, it just like
(01:08:45):
shut down and was like dead.
Speaker 20 (01:08:47):
You know.
Speaker 10 (01:08:48):
Yeah, a lot of times this time of the year
it's you know, that morning bite and that PM bite
are a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
More effective because of the heat.
Speaker 10 (01:08:56):
Really, I mean when it starts getting hotter, these fish
go down deeper even if they're still around.
Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
It makes them a little harder to find and harder
to catch.
Speaker 20 (01:09:04):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
You go from you know, free line and a.
Speaker 10 (01:09:06):
Bait and catching a big tune on the surface to
now you gotta throw a ten ounce lead on your
line and drop it down and catch them down deep
below the surface. So you got to kind of match
the hatch on what's going on for that time of
the year and what the conditions are. And like I
say all the time, even before we go fish tournaments.
Sometimes my guys will say, hey, are we gonna do
this type of fishing or that type of fishing, And
(01:09:28):
I'll say, we don't know till the day before, depending
on what the conditions are going to be. You know,
you got to match the hatch. You gotta be ready
for anything. And yeah, the heat this time of the year, though,
is a thing. It'll shut off that bite in the
middle of the day. A lot of our trips, we've
been getting people to the dock at six six thirty
am sometimes instead of seven am start times, just to
beat the heat and get that extra hour of sunlight in.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
You know, yep is benefishing your tournament?
Speaker 5 (01:09:52):
Nah, he's he He used to fish a lot of
the tournaments, but now he helps themsh up.
Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
You can just say I'm washed up, Joe. Well, Benny

around even though he's always part of it, always what
he's doing. Yeah, it's a free guy, alright, Benny. So, uh,

the fish catchers have been what scattered? Mah he I
don't know. Jo's about a wahoo.
Speaker 5 (01:10:39):
Maybe I just took a I haven't really seen any wahoo, Benny,
have you seen any?
Speaker 10 (01:10:44):
No, we haven't seen many wahoo's. I mean a few
random ones here and there. I think I saw the
Deep Blue guys post one. Didn't really talk to them,
but it's just you know, they're they're going to be
random right now. You'll get their little runs around the
full moons in the summertime.
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
You know, it's it is what it is with the wah.
Gotcha all right? Man? Well, the boats are out today.
I saw Mike Savage post up. I guess you said
that was some some paying members for fishing boats right there.
Speaker 10 (01:11:10):
Yeah, yeah, Captain Mike. He's probably you know, for US
seven o'clock charter. Him and Eddie Walters from Real Addiction.
They probably get to the dock around six and they
have crumpets and tea in the morning while they rig
their line.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Crumpets and tea. I don't see savage crumpets and tea, guy,
I don't see.
Speaker 10 (01:11:27):
That's the ji at him and Eddie showing up so early.

Uh?
Speaker 49 (01:17:46):
Just getting ready to head out here for a three
quarter day nice?
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
All right, Well, I can say from experience because I
don't have a whole lot, but I will tell you
that I've caught Tune official this week, Vinnie, and they
were banging on the kite on cigar, meadows, herring and pilchers,
I might add, so the tuna bite was great to
like go around ten o'clock when that cloud cover burned off,
sun came blaring out, and man, things just shut right down.
Speaker 8 (01:18:14):
Dude, you know what I mean.
Speaker 49 (01:18:17):
Yet it tends to happen. They you need that overcast
or that high sun shut them off because they got
those big eyes. They're real sensitive delight.
Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
Well, once you go to catch you got on the
YB Dormal this week. How's those fisherman for you?
Speaker 49 (01:18:31):
It's been pretty good. Earlier in the week we had
some good kingfish bite and then they kind of disappeared,
and then we went off shore on a couple of
days and we did good on the dolphin. A bunch
of scattered weed out there. I did find a couple
of frigates, so that helped us out there. We're out
yesterday in the morning caught some really nice black fin
(01:18:54):
tunas for our area. I think we had like three
or four, like fifteen twenty pound fish, so people were
happy that.
Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
Nice man. I saw your Instagram post last night. Was
that a recent photo of recent video by the way,
because you had like a nice batch of mahi, like
a combination of mahi and maybe tune on the same trip.
I'm not sure.
Speaker 49 (01:19:14):
Yeah, yeah, that was earlier in the week. Like I said,
really good fishing this week for us here in Fort Everglades.
Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
Nice is it us? Joey? Is we just noticing more
mahi being caught these Yeah, it's very true, Like I
haven't seen it like this in a long time. It's
really actually and some big ones too, some scattered in between,
right but Dan the mah here like back, yeah, which
is great.
Speaker 5 (01:19:36):
I wouldn't say back back, but I say yeah, definitely
better than the last couple of years.
Speaker 2 (01:19:42):
I think I agree.
Speaker 49 (01:19:44):
Which one hundred percent the mahi fishing, you know, like
I said before, normally you don't get them this early
in these type of numbers are the size usually Now
the loot of them are on the just undersize. You're
fishing at thirty fish, but they're all nineteen and a half,
so it may only get two keepers, but it seems
like a lot of nicer fish. I did see a
(01:20:06):
couple really nice and scott in Miami this week, so
hopefully those a couple of those big ones can slip
through the cracks and headed down my way.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Nice vity, you have heard it go because you have
a charter going on, you have a couple more minutes
to talk. I have a few questions for you.
Speaker 49 (01:20:21):
Sure go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
So when you see frigatebirds diving, a lot of our
brand new folks, We have brand new listeners to the
show every weekend. For a lot of these are novice anglers, right,
So if you see a flock of frigates working the
surface of the water, they're diving down. You know they're
hitting the surface real well, tell me your technique, man
to approach those birds. A lot of guys do it wrong.
There's a certain way to approach those those diving birds.
(01:20:44):
Talk about it a little.
Speaker 49 (01:20:45):
Bit well with the frigates a lot of times if
there's more than one. Obviously, the fish are there right
now and you need to get there because they're not
going to be there forever. I would say, you want
to try to get close to them, but you don't
want to run through them at thirty miles an hour
because you're going to scare all the fish that are there.
(01:21:06):
You want to run up to them, get a good
distance away, and then slowly, you know, get your trolling
spread out and try to get him to where he's
going right behind your boat. And usually nine times out
of ten you're going to get bites. Whether it's a
golfing or tuna or whatever they're on.
Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
You kind of go around them a little bit and
kind of just kind of like worm your way in
towards that school that blowing those fish away with too
much power or whatever.
Speaker 49 (01:21:29):
Yeah, exactly, you know, because those fish are feeding, so
anything that goes by, they're going to bite. But if
you run up there making all that noise, odds, are
you going to push them down?
Speaker 2 (01:21:40):
Well, don't do like I've done before, and I've told
us on the show before, back in my early days
of fishing. Yeah, with my son's in my boat. On
my boat, by the way, I see two frigates up
there right there. Joan are just nicely going to breeze
and Vinnie are just doing her thing, and I'm sort
of saying, where the hell they going? So I'm following
with my boat waiting for to start diving on a
school of fish. I left out a Miami hall over rio.
(01:22:02):
I want to following those fish to Papao. Those those
birds and that was it, following those birds all the
way to Papoo, waiting for to do something. Nothing. Well,
they could just be flying over. So I realized we're
looking like a landmark, I mean Papao because I didn't
have any proper GPS thing at the time. Anyway, that's
just one of my stupid stories that he don't take it,
I guess, be okay, seriously.
Speaker 49 (01:22:25):
I definitely, I definitely won't you. Just you gotta be
careful when you see the when you see the birds
out there and there north. You know that gulfstream currents
going north, so you know if you turn north and
follow them for fifteen to twenty minutes, like you said,
you can start out a halo for and puff a
pomp and in this time.
Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
God, no time it all man igt about that? Any
bottom dropping all this week for you guys.
Speaker 49 (01:22:49):
We got a couple of muttons earlier in the week.
Live pilters was ubated choice still on those shallow wrecks
like one hundred, one hundred and twenty. I didn't personally
get at this week, but a couple of really nice
gag groupers caught out front on some live goggle eyes.
One was around thirty pounds or so.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
Vinnie.
Speaker 5 (01:23:09):
Also, i've been hearing the kingfish bites picking up. People
are getting more kings. Have you seen that?
Speaker 7 (01:23:15):
We had them.
Speaker 49 (01:23:16):
Earlier in the week here and then it seemed like
they moved to the north. If you pound the reef
you might be able to get a few, but it
seems like they kind of far and few between this week.
But hopefully they turn around and swim back this way.
Speaker 5 (01:23:32):
And how about some of the big big jumbos, how's
that going is it still strong or is it kind
of spotty?
Speaker 49 (01:23:39):
I would say kind of spotty. Yeah, it's kind of
hit and miss on that, you know. I mean, right,
just just gotta give it a little bit of time.
I'm sure they'll be back.
Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
Sure, all right, well's yeah video, Thanks Vinnie, the contact
you brother and fish on your boat. Give it to

you know, well, and uh, you know, it's just that
time of the year where you know, it's starting to
get real hot where you want to be off the
water by you know, eleven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (01:31:07):
But the fishing's good, so you kind of stick around.
Speaker 8 (01:31:10):
So too.
Speaker 6 (01:31:12):
A lot of big nakeds were caught this week, and
we're starting to get those big number days of peacocks.
You know, up until about a week or two ago,
we were getting you know, only you know, maybe a
dozen to twenty peacocks in a trip. Now, oh, we're
comfortably getting like twenty five plus.
Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
Only twenty said, that's it, only twenty Really, I can't
get one off my balcony. He's got like only twenty
Well you got Poplo there, Pablo is gone. He left me.
Speaker 5 (01:31:44):
Well, because you catch him every day and then you
hold him out in front of the camera, you can
throw fire.
Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
Why you just keep picking on my ass? On more?
You guys? Man? Hey, Johnny, quick, easy target, Johnny.
Speaker 5 (01:31:55):
Might if you and I went fishing, right and you
caught this monster, this monster, let's say peacock.
Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
Right, Let's say it was like.
Speaker 5 (01:32:05):
And I and I grabbed your fish and held it
for a picture and posted it everywhere, what would you think, honestly?
Speaker 30 (01:32:13):
Is that wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Is that wrong?
Speaker 3 (01:32:14):
Johnny?
Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
I mean I see it happen almost every.
Speaker 35 (01:32:17):
Day, so it's.
Speaker 44 (01:32:20):
It.
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
But Johnny, would you do that? Would you do something
like that? Johnny?
Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
Get off of this man?
Speaker 4 (01:32:28):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:32:28):
I mean I have a lot of a lot of
pictures with with big peacocks that I taught them on
my own, So.
Speaker 3 (01:32:36):
You taught you wouldn't do something like that?
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
You have you have standards, right, God, let's get off
of this whole topic, Johnny. Why do you want to
get off this topic? Because I was talking to Johnny
about what Johnny doesn't even know what we're talking about.
Johnny wants to tell us where he fishing?
Speaker 9 (01:32:50):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
All right, so Lake E is still still overfished and
over over over snagged or what's the deal with that
damn lake?
Speaker 39 (01:32:59):
No.
Speaker 37 (01:33:00):
I mean it's it's kind of getting its act back
in shape.
Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
You know.
Speaker 6 (01:33:06):
A lot of the seasonal guides have gone back to
their home states of Alaska and uh, Michigan and all that.
All the people that should not be guiding in the
busy season. But you know, they're they're thankfully all gone.
And now we can kind of get some of that
(01:33:27):
business to ourselves and show people a really good time
and instead of trying to scam them out of catching
a couple of peacocks for five hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
They're good. Did Johnny just put his opinion out there?
I love Johnny. That's great. Wells, i'd probably you head
left with charter today landlocked or what are you doing?
Speaker 8 (01:33:47):
We're actually on vacation in.
Speaker 6 (01:33:51):
Pine Island right now for the Maverick boat owners, uh
you know tournament over here.
Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
It's just a fun little event.
Speaker 6 (01:33:58):
For people that in a Maverick boat group boat cool
and yeah, it's unfortunately blowing about three hundred miles an hour,
So well, you are probably going to go drive around
and maybe do some shopping for uh, for my future wife.
Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
Well, Johnny, thanks so much for bringing start a question.
Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
We have a fishing question for Johnny.
Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
Got a move on.
Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
It's a real quick fishing question.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Hurry.
Speaker 3 (01:34:23):
Do you think it's wrong Johnny for Eric to hold
his sun's fishing?
Speaker 2 (01:34:26):
But you just get off that we're laid on the
freaking show here and you have to ask that dumb
asked question. Again.
Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
I thought it's a good question.
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Terrible question. No, it's not the part of the program anyway, Johnny.
Johny says, yeah, it's okay with me. So he just said, okay.
You didn't even let him speak. He's right there. You
have people on hold, Johnny, Just what do you think.
Speaker 9 (01:34:45):
I'm not going to answer that question.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
Thank you, Johnny, Thank you, brother. He's at my back,
all right, thank you very much. All right, just see
what the weather forecast is like. She was down there
last week, by the way. Yeah, and you didn't want
to fish. Unbelievable. I actually fish.
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
You came all the way down here.
Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
I didn't tell you that she I fished Thursday morning? Yeah?
Are you serious, hey, Jake, want to tell you?
Speaker 26 (01:35:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 34 (01:35:08):
Good morning?
Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
Yeah, you're kidding.
Speaker 34 (01:35:10):
She take down there. I'm all the way down there,
and you guys don't even want to see me.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
Wow, you lied. No, she just lied to me. He
came in my place and we picked up best fished
off the belt. We did not.
Speaker 34 (01:35:24):
Wow the morning and you said I have to go
pick up a boat.
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
Oh, oh that's what you said, boat delivery man. I
can't try not pay it, Jen, I said, listen, no
matter how far, let me know. I will make my
way there. And Eric said, I have a boat thing
I gotta.
Speaker 5 (01:35:44):
Do and I can't, so, I know, unbelievable. He like,
hoarded your number. He was like, he didn't want to
give it to me.
Speaker 3 (01:35:55):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
Jen knows dad. We tried to hook up with you,
but you were so worried about driving more than five
miles south than Deerfield. You want a jen Anda to
drive to freaking for an hour and a half. No,
I was just giving options, that's all. I didn't know
where jen was staying an option at all mentioned. Maybe
I didn't know whatever movie she could have been in
West Palm For all I know, you were hoarding her number.
(01:36:17):
You didn't let me even talk to her. She does
Bett care. Jeez, this guy. Yeah, this guy, it's been
extremely you were done for ole days. You see how
hot it is? How much longer is this hot wave?
It's just hot, man, right the beginning of summer's hot.
Speaker 4 (01:36:31):
Yeah here super hot.
Speaker 34 (01:36:34):
Looks like it's hotter this weekend. But you do have
a higher chance of rain, so maybe that was cool
you off a little bit. So sixty chance of showers
and storms today, otherwise mostly sunny. How you're ninety southwest
winds ten to fifteen, sees less than two feet in
her coastal waters. A light chop for tomorrow. Looks like
we're seventy percent chance of showers and storms, mostly cloudy
(01:36:55):
in here nine southwest wind five to ten season, around
two feet in her coastal waters. A light to moderate
chop in the Keys today, twenty percent chance of showers
and storms, mostly sunny. High near eighty eight, southwest to
west winds five to ten becoming ten to fifteen during
the afternoon. Season around one to two feet near shore waters.
Speaker 4 (01:37:14):
Light chop.
Speaker 34 (01:37:15):
Tomorrow, forty percent chance of showers and storms and the
Keys partly sunny, with a high near eighty eight, southwest
to west winds near ten knots. Seas around the foot
near shore water is a light chop and in Florida
Bay today southwest to west winds near five knots increasing
to ten to fifteen the afternoon. Baywater smooth, becoming a
light to moderate chop late in the day, and then Sunday,
(01:37:35):
southwest to west winds ten knots. Baywater's a light chop,
scattered showers and storms.
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
Joe, while you're down here, how did your destination dive
day go? Pretty well?
Speaker 34 (01:37:45):
Oh it was cool, Yeah, it was perfect. The weather
is beautiful. I mean it was hot, but it was beautiful.
We shot it at that gorgeous Moorings Village resort. It's
where like Bloodline was found, you know, in Islamorada. It's gorgeous.
Speaker 37 (01:38:00):
Was so beautiful.
Speaker 34 (01:38:00):
So I'm really excited to see how it turns out.
Speaker 2 (01:38:02):
I can't wait. What's the first episode coming back on
the Discovery Channel?
Speaker 34 (01:38:07):
Sometime in August. I don't know the exact date, but
in August, in August.
Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
Yeah, yeah, I would just in the exact time channel. Okay, okay,
some time in August. And Jen, next time you come
and you want to fish, just text me. You don't
need to text Eric. I'll text Eric and see if
he's interested.
Speaker 7 (01:38:28):
But no show.
Speaker 34 (01:38:29):
Eric is tough to I will get your numbers somehow.
Speaker 2 (01:38:33):
All right, I'll get it to you on face. Thank
thanks j Let's go the keys man, Sue, our new
fishing expert, the man with a plan. It's so proud
of yourself, are you dipstick? The one the legend, Captain
Skip Brandy good one and skip captain Skip.
Speaker 23 (01:38:56):
Hey man, I'll tell you what. I wait the phllet.
That guy's supposed to call you. You're just a couple
of minutes off on our schedule. But we're here now.
And the mahi bite, I'll tell you what. It's real
fun to watch the fish that coming in. I haven't
been out and one day this week, but I see
the guys. You know, I'm up and down the Marinas
all the time. And the mahi bite is really really good.
Not big fish we're talking about. I'm going to classify
(01:39:18):
right now as lifters. I mean, that's a fish that
it's like twenty one twenty two inches. You lift them
because you have your measurement stick right there. If it's
not twenty inches, and you're throw them back. So we
don't want them gaff. You don't want to put them
to take half the many. We don't want to put
them in net or eightything you just kind of lifted.
If they fall off, oh well, because there's another thirty
or forty behind the boat. You're gonna take their place.
But then you measure them and you throw them back,
(01:39:39):
You throw them in the core, and that's the size
fish will catch it right now. However, I know my
experience here over the years that these fish grow rapidly,
as everybody knows, and then another three weeks a month,
that's going to be they're going to be not instead
of lifting me heavy lifters. And those are fish anywhere
from three four or five pounds up to seven pounds.
After that you put a gaff and we have to
have a pick if I call it just a gift
(01:40:01):
of the small kingfish and up for the amahi that
have seven eight ten pounds, you use a big gaff.
You look like a fool down there, look like Zorrow
trying to stab him in the boat. And I tell
you myself, I last week and one day we had
a fish about five pounds and the popa pabah. Who
needs a better gaff a small pickgaff I caught and
I am swinging that thing around. So I was so embarrassed.
(01:40:22):
I gave my backup mate to have a back of
mate that goes with it. I say, he used to
have them, and he stared them on the first try.
I was embarrassed. But anyway, that's hey, that's the way
it is. But these fish are going to get better
and better. In the lift. His heavy lift is Giff
mccorm Geff. That's and then gaffers and then you have
the slammer Dolph in twenty thirty and then super slim
a lot of I put that in about twenty years ago.
(01:40:44):
That's a fish over forty pounds. And fly a flag
for that guy. Man, you have a nice big bull
of cow. Put a flag. That's a nice fish. We
don't have that many of them any more, guys. I'll
tell you what. They've disappeared from the keys. And I
look at my albums over here. I've got fifty years
worth the albums. I'm so sad to see what the
pictures look like now compared to the days back then.
You know, it's really different.
Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Now, Wow, what else you got? Skip all else?
Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 23 (01:41:07):
We got the ladies. We got the ladies, well, we
got the Skippers tournament. I'm am seeing that tomorrow night.
They give away about sixty thousand dollars up at Skippers.
That's a big one. That's the biggest one we have
in the Keys. They got a couple of good ones
down to cow and bowl down their marathon. Now two
conksra in that one. Have a big one in Key
West this weekend and next weekend we have the ladies
the Els tournament in Tavinir and that's a great tournament.
(01:41:29):
They give away prize. But ten places. Used to be
twenty now it's ten places. So you know you catching
fishing a good chance you might get up this on
the stage and take a bad out of boy. So
it's uh, this pays pays ten places and that well
pays give some prize and stuff like that. So take
this number Down's Diane Harborough, she's been running that forever.
And that number then key logo Tavaniers three h five
(01:41:51):
five two two four eight six eight And if you
want to come down fish that next week and it's
a one day fun day tournament Saturday kicking off Friday night,
and I promise you a good time. Hey, pay ten places,
you might look good on stage. What do you think
about that?
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
Cool? Just so you know, if you're talking with the
number one from Motor of tournaments on the planet, that
would be my co host, Joe Hector. Oh yeah, he said,
his own Yeah, his own old gig coming up with Joe.
You do you have any questions for the skip Man? Well, actually,
I want to kind of rewind to when he was
talking about the Mahi. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:42:19):
First, yeah, And I just want to ask do you
think so there's a theory that people are saying that
the Mahi might have just changed their route. Do you
think that that is a possibility or you think it's
just them being caught like crazy over the years.
Speaker 23 (01:42:34):
Well, that's first up. I think the pressure on the
Mahi because it was one of the scientific efficiency they have.
They could keep pattings on where they come up from, damn,
wherever they come from down south end Joe. I've heard
a lot of theories, and one of them, in the
big theory is they go around the Straits of Florida
now and they're going out further, pushing enough further to
the east and somehow they make a loop. Because I
(01:42:54):
fished people from South Carolina. I did a seminar last
Monday Worldwide Sportsman, and the guy's a bunch of gus.
We're there and they said, Skip, we have big mahi
all over the place up there. We don't have them
down here. So and we have a lot of boats
covered territory. So I think those fish aren't in the
Straits of Florida anymore. Maybe a few, but they're going
on another direction. That's my theory.
Speaker 39 (01:43:13):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
I to hear that theory, Joe that saying they're overfished.
Me too. They changed direction again a little further off
and around. I think it's a better thing for the fishery.
I don't feel so nervous about it. I haven't worked
for years that it was overfished. And the commercial guys
go out there, it doesn't help. As you've seen on
commercial boats, these guys go off shore and they just
take take them by a dozens. Yeah yeah, Mercy, Yeah.
Speaker 23 (01:43:36):
Well, I was in I was in Italy last year
and on the menu every menu in Italy had the
has mahi on the menu. And we are in Vegas
this year and every menu has mahi on the menu.
So you can imagine the pressure that when they're serving
mahi around the world on the menus, you can bet
this pressure on like nothing we've ever seen before. Wonderful
eating fish and uh it's I don't know if the
(01:43:58):
future but lives for them. Well, guys, you know what
is it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
In the Italy?
Speaker 23 (01:44:03):
Yeah, i'd saying over there in Vegas it's a buy one,
get one for a roll on the dice or something.
Speaker 2 (01:44:10):
I don't know, get roll the dice. I guess it's
gotta be skunked over all, right, Lia, Yeah.
Speaker 23 (01:44:19):
Real quick, I know you got the trivia question today
on a tuna fish. I think it was very roach.
And I just happened to look at my IGFA book
I got this week, and and and I didn't realize
this until yes, says read. Now we hold the world's
records still do for the biggest black fin tune on
thirty pounds test a young lady her name Elizabeth jan
Wayne on page on, page three, twenty two. And look
(01:44:41):
at that fish that was caught on the blue chip
in nineteen seventy three. So it's still in the book. Yeah,
I got it's covered. It's funny you brought a black fintuna,
but it's on page three twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:44:50):
How much is the wool?
Speaker 23 (01:44:51):
There you go?
Speaker 2 (01:44:52):
Fish way?
Speaker 23 (01:44:53):
Uh hi wish, let's see you here. It was thirty
eight pounds even. And I caught it on the dead valley.
Who I caught on a lead deep old ballet who
had on the amoran huway, we're dropping amber jack and
the left ringer went off. I let it lay out
there and that fish and then cout that fished thirty
eight pounds all by itself, the legal world record.
Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
Well nuts, man, crazy, Hey man, we're glad to show
Skip we're late on o'clock that I apologize about. Oh yeah,
everywhere every weekend. Your slaughter is seven thirty five. That's
you own that now, Okay, Yeah, I know I spotted.
Speaker 23 (01:45:23):
I know you know what the spot is.
Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
I was totally off my spot for the Okay, Hey
that is great. Hey, they've been busted my ass. Some
morning skipped my apologized this guy. They are They all

That's lighter than a puppy. This chair's up to some witchcrap,

being tossed around, banged, bumped, and scraped with low risk
of damage or permanent blash. If you're a fisherman, there's
