make congrats on a great tournament. Thank you. I saw
I light reels in the videos and happy photos of
people on stage. Yeah. Another home run, buddy, Hey, it
was it was great.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
We had an awesome drone footage and we had anglers from.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
All over the world.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
We had an angler from Australia, we had an angler
from South Africa. It's just it's just unbelievable, you know that,
Like when I did this fifteen years ago, like a kid,
like not even knowing what I was doing, that we
would build to something like this to get these type
of people. It's it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
It really is worldwide drawbout, which is great. I saw
the interview I don't even know how with the AF guy. Yeah,
what a cool guy. That cool, really lit up and happy. Yeah.
And it wasn't Jack, but he was just I'm glad
to be He's great, Nam and halve all my mics in.
It's yeah, great time.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Isn't that cool?
Speaker 2 (01:35):
It was great? Great, So yeah, it was. It was
a lot of fun. Outstanding back in my forty Jeff
has the surgery last week and hoping I was feeling better, Jeff,
thank you very much, and flying the spaceship Glory one
of the only grazy crazy crazy man Steven J. Gray, Hey,
Steve hast Hi, okay, great well. The words of the
Caps this week was fishing has gotten better. Yeah better.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
I went on my buddy's boat, George, our camera guy
for the tournament.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
He went off shore you mean like yeah, yeah, And.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
We took the kids and we had a boat full
of kiddos and it was George and I and uh.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
We we didn't do like any like real like hard fishing.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
We went out. We tried a little bit for some
black fan got none, not even Benita.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
And then we went in.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Uh, we anchored, we put out the chum bag, did
a little refishing and we got some Mia got a
nice strawberry grouper, and we got a couple of yellow tail.
But you know, it was kind.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Of kind I mean for the kids, they loved it,
you know, they had a good time, but uh, it
was it was kind of slow.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Man, I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Nice to have your back on the water after many
years of missing that saltwater action.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah, it felt. Uh I lost my sea legs. I
felt like three times.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Did you get seasick? Thank god? But I fell all
over the place. I think I broke my ankle. Glad
you're hearing one piece or Joey Man, Shall we bring
out the first cap every weekend and to shoot the
Great Jimbo and bring him on with the usual joe
Hector Bravado. It's your turn, my turn. Okay, we'll see here.
(03:17):
Not just some kind of simple guy, Okay, he's a
man explores the planet looking for predatory species. In case
you're new to the show, he's one of the few
guys who shoves his hand down a blind stone crab
hole with a ginormous claw grabbing him. He's got one
finger left, The Fearless Man, bar Nunn, Jimbo, the Man Thomas.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Yeah, one one finger. That's it.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Gee, which one are you holding up for me? Jimbo?
Speaker 4 (03:46):
I wonder that's it? You're number one?
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Hi Jimbo.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Hey guys, Hey Joe, I love the sunshine.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I'm doing great.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Thank you, that's awesome. Well I'm standing ye know, so
I didn't have a chance to shot. We were trying
to play phone tag yesterday. We just could hook up
for some damn reason. But it's going to call you
the usual Friday report, So talk about what's happening on
the flyer, buddy boy.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
So we had a lot of wind earlier in the week,
so it wasn't rough, but it wasn't combining means, and
then yesterday it finally laid down. I actually was in
Flamingo over in Neverglades yesterday when you tried calling, and
my phone doesn't work over there. But you know, we
had a good day over there. We caught a bunch
of snook and the weather was nice. But out here
(04:36):
the dolphin fish has been pretty good the last few days.
Nothing of size, just schoolly. So if you want to
get a few fish for the frying pan, it's perfect.
The seaweed is still a nuisance. It's been scattered all
over the place, making it hard to fish through. But
if you can find some bigger patches, or if by
(04:58):
chance gets lined up, which I haven't seen that, I've
just seen a few bigger patches, we've been catching fish
on that. If you find something floating, obviously a good
chance to catch some dolphin there. And there's been birds
working on top of most of them. So basically you
want to look for the birds. You can truck yep,
(05:21):
you know, while you're looking for them, and then once
you once you find them, you can throw some small
live baits or cut bait to them. And they've been
eating good. But just make sure you measure them. They
got to be twenty inches to the fork. And you know,
a lot of are just legals, and then a lot
of them are not legal. You never know when a
bigger one might show up. There are some of them
(05:43):
that we're catching or that are being cast that are
obvious legal, but they're not big by any means. You know,
a five or seven pounder is going to be a
nicer one, but again, a big one could show up
at any minute. Always be ready for that. And then
a little closer along in the edge of the gulf stream,
there's been a decent salefish by the last few days.
(06:06):
Get some live baits. Yeah, put the kite up. The
only problem is the seaweed. Again, your life baits run
for that seaweed for some cover because they're out of
their elements, so you're shaking weed a lot of the time.
If you can find an area that is not covered
in seaweed, even better, But that's been hard to do. Yeah.
(06:27):
And what else there's well, let's say there's always still
a chance in a black fin tuna, but that's about
over for the season. Yeah, yeah, and then there's been
a king or two.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
So Chel Hector at Jibbo Thomas question for you, do
you think the general fishing public to this day does
not how to know how to work a school of
diving birds properly? I mean the whole technique of a
big hawk bird or two or three working around you somewhere.
I know I've been guilt back in the day of
(07:01):
following one single frigate bird like the popolo. Okay, Okay,
So Jimbo will a test. I'm shure to the fact
that there's a way to work these birds, Jimbo, that
a lot of guys should learn how to really work
those birds. You know. Granted, we wait, are you talking
about just frigate?
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Are you talking about like when there's a school of
blackfin and there's a bunch of birds like all over
the water.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Well, either either like in a certainly pattern, or they're
working a surface. I'm working a surface. You pretty much
know they're on bait.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
You weren't one of those guys that like like sped
in right through.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
The school so that I didn't I didn't say it
was no, I'm just asking you actually got to do guys.
I think maybe jim can properly explain how to do that. Joe, Yeah,
that'd be great, Thanks for bringing it up. Yeah, no problem.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Okay. So, so if you got a good radar like that
simrad halo.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
You yeah, yeah, Simradico Yeah, man.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
You can you can see the birds on your radar,
especially if it's calm, but if it's rough, the radar
is kind of tough to use. Otherwise, a good pair
of binoculars, which is anybody can get a good pair
of binoculars and not spend a ton of money on them.
So we're constantly looking for birds. We find the birds,
we try to determine which direction they're going. If they're
(08:14):
going south, they're typically going to be on dolphin of
halfway decent sides. If they're going north, they're going to
be on little baby dolphins. For whatever the reason, the
little guys travel north. Once they get a little better size,
they start traveling south, So that's for dolphin. If you
(08:36):
see a big flock twenty five thirty or more birds
that's not going to be dolphin, are very rarely going
to be dolphin. That's typically going to be small banitas,
skip jacks, possibly blackensunas, or in certain areas possibly yellow fensunas.
(08:58):
If you see a couple of frigates diving, good chance
they're on dolphin, but they also will follow the two
of the schools as well. The frigates. We have a
like a rating system. If they're on the deck, if
they're on the water, we call it on the deck.
If they're mid heighth, we say either're mid and then
if they're way up be able to say the other
(09:19):
flying highth they're ones that are super high. We'll watch,
but we don't pay much attention to them. But if
they're down low or on the deck, of course you
want to be there right when they're on the deck.
But those if you get up on on the frigate
birds and as soon as you get there, they go
up and they disappear. Chances are they were not on
(09:42):
dolphin because they were on vanitas skipjacks most likely, and
they're very boat shy, and when the boat comes, those
bevanitas and tunas will dive deep. The bird all of
a sudden, It's like, man, where they go. I don't
see them. I'm gonna go look for more. All of
a sudden, don't spook. They stay on the surface. So
(10:02):
the birds will stay there on top of them as
long as they can see them. Once you could sometimes
he catch two or three fish, the bird disappears. You
caught them all.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
They're out looking for more.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
A question by kayakers, do your guys that kayakers actually
look for birds that actually follow those I.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Mean, I'm gonna say yeah, but I mean they got
to come to you. It's tough, and that happens sometimes.
Like I've been out and I'll see a frigate and
like mid level, and he'll be like heading towards me
because I guess they see the structure in the water
or whatever. So and and I've caught you know that
(10:39):
thirty pounds off and there was a frigate and it
came at me and he was right over me.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Yeah, and then that's when he hit.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
And uh, there was actually two that day I saw
and yeah, So I mean it's it's a thing. It
just you can't really chase them.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Good point, great, yeah, great info. I don't know most
of that now. He said north and south. What if
a birds or birds of heading west, what does that.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Mean whether they're most likely not going to be on
dolphin because dolphins are they're they're swimming typically south. Most
fish are heading south. Say, we were on the edge
of the Gulf stream with the kites up in one
hundred and thirty feet of water. We look to the
north of us and we see a frigate bird maybe
(11:24):
he's out one hundred and eighty people. We'll try and
bump out there to get lined up with them, because
whatever he's on is coming south. And if you can
get your baits lined up, you're going to get a bite,
whether it's a salefish, a dolphin, even a tuna.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Possibly will got the Jibo Thomas school of how to
work the birds. Manlet the brakelet. Yeah, sure, here you go.
You want to spray too. I don't know why they
like to eat you. They don't bother.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
These mosquitoes. They wait, can I get one more? I'm
put in the other arms.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Sureje. These mosquitoes they me.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
You're getting bit If you're getting bit there yesterday at
Flamingo at the boat ramp, it was a black swarm
on you. It was the worst I've ever seen them.
You got anywhere near the shoreline. You got eight, So
you're not getting them too bad.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
What's worst? Zimbo mosquitoes or no seams or green heads? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:25):
I don't like any of them, but uh, probably mosquitoes.
The mosquitos and no seams are equally as bad.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Have you guys ever been by a green head?
Speaker 2 (12:37):
By a horse fly? They took about half my arm off.
The horse flies they're the worst.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:45):

Voting restricted zones are an important part of ensuring safety
and Florida's water waste. In idle speed no wake zones,
vessels must operate at a minimum speed that will maintain
headway and steerage with no visible wake. In slow speed
minimum wake zones, vessels must operate fully off plane and
a speed which is making little or no wake. In
either zone, vessels should be completely settled in the water,

Speaker 2 (17:20):
Yeah, buddy, it's a good you know, s Wether Joe.
How the whole world's changing. It's like light lit like
super earlier than usual. Yeah, we were at a dark
three months ago at six am. Now there's coming up, man. Yeah,
it's changing. It's that time of year. Man, you know
what I'm saying. Does that mean that the Daylight Savings
thing goes away again? And we're dark at five thirty?
(17:41):
Which you love? I know you love that thing. I
love that because you're in bed by seven, right, you're sleeping.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
There's nothing like.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
It sleeps at seven o'clock at night. No, no, but you.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
There's nothing like seeing it pitch black at like five thirty.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Love, I love it makes me all tie to black
up your neck and you're all tucked in and ready
for no land, right, and you know you're looking at
at the clock. You're like, okay, is it wine time yet?
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Is it wine time? Oh?
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah? Yeah? Anyway, check out the land of I guess
peacock bash and snakehead record breaker man that he is, Joey,
Oh gotta be Corey Nowakowski. Yeah, Cory, great? Did you
see me as peacock? Seven pounds?
Speaker 15 (18:22):
Man?
Speaker 2 (18:22):
I don't know what what weight you were holding. We
used to hand scale the bugger rip. Yeah, yeah, the one. Yeah,
it was my buddies might anyway, whatever, talking about that later,
I never got one that put fine he has, Yeah,
of course.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
He's got him like fifty pounds.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Cory, go, what a buddy? How are you.
Speaker 16 (18:44):
Pretty good?
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Are you guys doing okay?
Speaker 17 (18:46):
Good?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
But are you go on the water or where are
you right now?
Speaker 18 (18:51):
I'm driving to the first location to fish charter actually
going on today?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Where's that?
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Corey?
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Where's that?
Speaker 18 (19:03):
Probably going mostly going to an area that's not in
a very good neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
So oh okay, that's where nice anyway, Corey. So talking
about fishing this week, I know it's still get warmer
day by day. It's just blistering hot around noon every day.
And Joe, you know, it's just stinking hot man. Right, Yeah,
has that had a fishing turned on or off or indifferent?
Speaker 18 (19:29):
Well, it's it kind of depends. I mean, it seems
like lately it's it's actually not been too bad in
the afternoon, even though it's been hot, very hot lately,
as it usually is this time of year. But it's
it's not been too bad. It's I'm sure once you
get into like July August, and it's really gonna it'll
(19:53):
start affecting things only in the middle of the day
because it's gonna get really it's gonna getting hotter than that,
so it's God, so it'll start affecting things. But it's
still been pretty good in the afternoon. But it's still
your best bed is still the you know, or you know,
first day in the morning or you know late in
the day, you know, late in the evening, that's usually
(20:13):
the time prime time. Anyways, gotcha, So I found lately.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
I'm curious, what are you fishing? Little John bout what's
your what's your vot of choice? Where you got or
John John?
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Vote?
Speaker 18 (20:26):
Yeah, John vote? Uh Yeah, I've got I've got quite
I've got quite a few of them. I got about
four of them.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
So oh more than one.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Joey about a backup to a backup.
Speaker 18 (20:37):
Yeah, well yeah, different different sizes, you know, just just tens, twelve.
I got a fourteen, you know, so just you know,
you access different areas and uh, you know, depending on
how many people you can take. But yeah, he didn't.
You know, you get into those those I try to
get in those places that you know, not a lot
of bigger boats can get into. Sure, so I try
(20:58):
to accedents those type areas more than anything.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Let's discuss Joe's daughter, be as Peacock Bass acclaimed wegs
seven and a half pounds in Corey. What's a proper
way device you carry to really accurately measure the weight
of a fish as opposed to something he said, like
half a spring working? It was us.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
I use the bog I use.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Yeah, that's to go to right.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (21:27):
Yeah, I've weighed all the records that I've had on
those because I you know, when I first did it
that you know, I g Fay said, that's if it's
whatever that scale usually weighs. And if you know how
to read it, write it, you know you're not how to
read it, write it's it's gonna it's it's usually the
right weight. So it's I mean, it's not gonna tell
you ounces, but it's gonna tell you, you know, whenever it
(21:49):
says usually it's correct. And it's what they told me
this that they very rarely have ever seen them out
of you know, you know, miss reading you know, misreading
a uh weight. So yeah, because the guy, one guy
said he's seen him corroded and all beat up, and
he said he get a little lubrication on it, clean
it up, and the thing works fine. It's all it
(22:10):
is a spring scale.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
So so you know, well you just assume people know
we're talking about Joe. If you told the average person
on the street, hey, what's a bug of grip, they
say it's like a new handshake or something. I don't know, right,
So a buger grip is basically a device, right, Corey
that actually used you describe it? Please?
Speaker 18 (22:30):
Yeah, it's just a It's basically just a it's like
a pair of grippers. It's you you know, it's got
a a little like not button, but it's got a
like trying to explain it that it's sort of like
a button. So what you do is you you push
it and what it does is it's got a grippers,
So the grippers grab on the fish's mouth of course,
and you.
Speaker 16 (22:51):
Let it hang.
Speaker 18 (22:51):
You let the fish hang, and it tells you the
weight it's got, the you know, the numbers on it,
and uh, you know it's a spring scale, so it's
you know, it's not gonna really be inaccurate. Compare like
a digital which digitals can be. There's some that are
very accurate, but there's there's always some sort of you
know error there because it's digital.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
So Corey, I got a question for you.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
There's the one lake I think it's trade winds and
it's it's weird. There's this one area where the water's
like crystal clear, and is it trade windsor is it
quiet waters? Oh, it's quiet waters. And for whatever reason,
we noticed the only fish in this whole area was
(23:39):
mayan sicklets and even like monster ones too. Right now
for it to be like that, does that mean that
the top predators like peacocks, snakehead stuff like that, even
largemouth were they not in this like area of the lake.
And that's why the mayans were just flourishing there. I
mean it literally it was only mayn'sts.
Speaker 18 (24:02):
Yeah, I mean that that's that's possible. I mean, that's
possible that there's a limit on the amount of you know,
predator fish like a bass or peacock or a snakehead.
So there are places out in the Everglades where I
know there's plenty of large mouths, and there's plenty of
big ones. There's big ones, and there's still a ton
of those things too, the mayansick woods. So I know,
(24:24):
like a month ago there was an area went out
to and there were so many Mayne sickwoods on the bank.
Even though we caught a lot of good bass and
you know, nice sized ones, but the Mayne sicklids are
out of control. How many there were, Yeah, So I
know those things are just they just reproduced pretty much everywhere.
I mean, it's they they reproduced so fast and multiply
(24:46):
so fast. It's just it's hard for some of those
fishes to keep up with.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
It, right, Those byans by the way, Joe and uh
and Corey, they're pretty fearless fish. But I've actually caught
two or three or four off my balcony to get
to peacock bass. Yeah, I thought like a three and
a half inch suspending jerk bait, and when I catch
that Mayan cichlet, it's about three quarters of the length
of the fish. Yeah, I'm thinking, how the hell can
I fish even think what's swallowing that bait? But it's
(25:12):
about as big as he is. But they actually do
a really good tugue. I thought I had fight, I
had a bass on and damn they pull. Man. They
fight not bad.
Speaker 18 (25:20):
Dude, Yeah yeah, Cory, Yeah, they do fight hard. I
mean they're you know, they're a blue gill on steroids,
so yep, uh they're Yeah, they're fun with ultra light.
You know, I'm not I mean for me, I'm not
really into catching them, but I mean, yeah they are.
They are fun to catch, you know, on ultra light.
So it's cool I for you, especially if you got
(25:41):
kids or something that they're they're fun to catch on that.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
And Corey, there's another thing I found interesting, which I
I didn't really know. So a lot of you have
some people that are online saying, oh, you know, with
the peacock and the exotics and stuff, they're hurting large mouth,
But I don't see that at all. And it's even
to the point where we went fishing before my tournament,
and Mia had a little peacock on. Right, dude, I
(26:09):
saw this large mouth bass had to be eight pounds, monster,
monster black. Right he came, he swallowed the peacock, took
the peacock. That now you couldn't hook it. So me
is just like ah, And then all of a sudden,
it's like coming in and I'm telling her to pump
(26:30):
and real, so I'm grabbing the rod to kind of
get it a pump and long story short, it comes off.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
We can't get it. But so now I'm like, well,
wait a second.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
These largemouth bass, these big ones, they're eating peacocks. That
is insane, like swallowing peacock bass. So to me, it's like,
is the top predator you think still the large mouth
for how big they get?
Speaker 18 (27:00):
Well, yeah, I mean it can be. I mean it
depends on where where you're fishing at, because there are
places where you have a you have a lot of
you know, all three or two, you know, between the
largemouth peacocks and snakeheads, or you got the peacocks and
the large mouth. Yeah, I mean there when they're that big,
large mouth, they're nothing's gonna mess with them. I mean,
(27:22):
they're right. They're like a big garbage spool blow eat
anything you know that they can. You know, the the turtle,
the ducks, they whatever.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
You know. I've seen the large amount suck at baby
duck show off the surface of the water. Come on,
there's a mama duck with like ten little just new
hatched little hitch. Yeah. And I just watching this little
swim go by, and you see this big slurp and
that freaking large amount just took them. It took them down. Man,
it was crazy. But anyway, are you gonna rock your
(27:51):
spots to your buddy boys? So to get ahold of
you and fish on board one of your nineteen boats? Uh?
What's supposed to cut own your buddy?
Speaker 18 (28:00):
Uh? Numbers nine five four seven three two three five
sixty six. My website Florida Snakehead Bathsadventures dot com, on
Facebook and Instagram. You hold me on either one of those.
Sorry I didn't get I didn't get to you guys
last week. I was on an airboat, so uh, that's
why I didn't answer. I tried to call back, I
(28:21):
was in bad location. But I did get a ten
pound largemount on my birthday, so that.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Was what damn Oh, happy birthday, Happy birthday. But birthday, dude, Yeah,
you got a ten pound large mouth.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Damn Yeah, dude, I got.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
On my birthday. That was lovely good birthday gift.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
What what did you catch that on his birthday gift? Uh?
Speaker 18 (28:42):
It was on a speed worm one of the Vultra
vibes by Zoom.
Speaker 19 (28:46):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
So was nineteen inch worms, even those big monstrous worms.
Speaker 18 (28:51):
The no, no, not that big it was. It was
like a seven It was like a seven inch worm.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
So he's got those about sixteen worms. I was like
throwing a snake out there, but he threw the biggest,
which is crazy.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
You know one last thing real quick, Corey.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Do you think if you buy those jumbo worms right,
and a lazy guy like me that just wants to
use like bait, if I bought like those huge ones, right,
those huge earthworms, would I could I still get like
a really big large mouth on those? Or Am I
just wasting my time?
Speaker 18 (29:22):
As far as like a plastic plastic worms?
Speaker 2 (29:24):
No?
Speaker 3 (29:24):
No, I mean like a live one.
Speaker 18 (29:26):
Oh God, really, I've never tried it.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
I would.
Speaker 18 (29:36):
That's a good I don't know, that's a good question.
I don't know, I've never tried it.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
He's saying, no, Joe, just I mean, you never know.
Speaker 20 (29:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 18 (29:44):
Yeah, it's possible. I mean I've I've had guys say
that with snakeheads. They caught him on those earthworms, so
I you know that movement, but I don't know no.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Media, Corey, MIA's big snake. Did you see the snakehead?
Speaker 3 (29:56):
She got that big one on Facebook? Maybe I didn't.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
She got that on the earth on her little rod. Okay,
really yeah, we can talk about this for another five hours,
but we're super late. Okay, so Cory, have a great day, man,
catch them up, dude, keep doing what you're doing. Okay,
thanks so much.
Speaker 18 (30:15):
All right, appreciate it, Thanks Corey.
Speaker 2 (30:17):

Welcome back to the show. Nineteen years talking fishing, smack

it is to be on the water, the water lifestyle.
That's what we're doing around here. Man. That's played in
the honor of Wayne Cott. He's a big sixties rocket roller.
(34:22):
He loves the doors and all those bands were back
in the day. They used to play it Magic seven
by the way. Ah, yeah, I might add yes, Hello
Wayne cod God.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Kay Wayne Wayne. I saw a photo on Facebook and
you said the nighttime snapper bite has been banging. I
saw the photo, by the way, nice looking fishbook. That's
just really great.
Speaker 29 (34:44):
Yeah, man, Yeah, it's lighting up at nighttime. Now for sure,
that's this is what you gotta do. I mean, uh,
I guess advice wise, if you got a small boat,
either crack it out super early in the morning, Joe Catt,
find a weed line, go catch a few dollphs on
one ever run back in, but get back out there
at night.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
And usually I'll give you.
Speaker 29 (35:04):
I thought of some different angles maybe that I would
throw out at at the listeners, But a lot of
people have no idea what I'm talking about when I say, like,
well the outside reef, and I think a lot of
us take for granted that, Okay, this is what it is. Well,
it depending on.
Speaker 20 (35:21):
Where you're at.
Speaker 29 (35:21):
If you're off of let's say, haulover, it's different than
it is if you're off a keep his game. The
bottom is configuration is a lot different. But in general,
like to find mangrove snappers and where they are, you
need to find the highest spot on the outside reef.
You can find and ruthfully to find the outside reef
if you run your boat tow one hundred feet, turn
around and come back in. If you don't find nice
(35:44):
high hard you'll see a hard bottom on your machine
just by the echo. Hard echoes turn really dark red
and they give you deeper echoes in your machine and
no winning and you'll see it to us Craigie are looking.
But what you really want to find is up in
the thirty two thirty five to forty foot area, high
up on that inside reef. You turn up, turn inside
(36:05):
of one hundred feet till it comes way up and
then run down that zigzag and looking for fish. And
mangrove snappers when they spawn are usually hanging within eight
or ten feet of the bottom. I spent a lot
of years diving too, and I found many mangrove spots
just by diving. I can remember inside the county recks
there's just a little rollover reef there and like fifty
(36:27):
five feet and it's there's loads of mangrove snappers there,
and they're just up inside all the county wrecks there.
But the key is the trust your electronics. And there's
a bit of a magic hour. You can anchor up
at seven thirty eight o'clock, you won't. You may not
see a mangrove snapper all nine thirty or ten o'clock.
And that's just the way it is right years ago,
(36:48):
years ago. The party boats used to fish. Sometimes there
be five boats on one spot right out in front
of haulover, and everybody would want to row out there
to get anchored up exactly right. You roar out there,
then you sit till ten o'clock and that's about it, right.
And the hardest part about all that was as a professional,
you've got a small byte window and you've only got
(37:08):
so much time to be out there is very hard
to go find new places because if you don't wait
till the magic hour, you don't know if they're there
or not. But I think the limits now are about
five per persons. I believe on the mangrove snappers. That's
the other thing, you guys, you know everybody out there
would be listening. They're getting a little tighter on rules
and regulations. I think. I think the state puts something
(37:29):
out now, though I don't believe. They're allowing officers to
board your boat without just cause. And I think that's
going to make a lot of people happy that used
to just get stopped.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
For the heck of it, you know, and they run
through your whole boat.
Speaker 29 (37:43):
I think something I know that's a sore spot to
a lot of folks.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
But but.
Speaker 29 (37:49):
And I get it, but I think there's something in
the works with that, and that'll be good for all
of all the small boaters out there. But just keep
in mind that they're trying to keep things safe. Okay,
so what.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Do you.
Speaker 23 (38:02):
I'm bares.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Ain't no barnies out there. I used to call barnes
without a bullet, you know, Stevie. Wonder right now, we
restricted the f w C from being held back to
jump on anybody's boat, uh without just cause. If they
have a reason to pull you over, they do. It's
a long time. Okay, they see something suspicious, let them
jump on board with your fish box and see those
(38:27):
one itch mahi you're bringing back to the dock. Yep.
Speaker 29 (38:30):
Okay, Hey, I wonder fisheries violations as good as any reason.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Come on, man, absolutely, you know.
Speaker 29 (38:36):
So yeah, I've seen some YouTube videos of people getting
all wound up, you know, and the guy's looking. You're
supposed to have certain things on your boat, period, And
one day when you're sinking and you don't have that
whistle and there's a boat a quarter mile away, you
ain't gonna be all a whistle loud enough.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
So but yeah, I get it.
Speaker 29 (38:51):
So anyway, they're trying to balance it all out. But okay,
so I know I'm in a big circle here, but yeah,
right now, nighttime fishing is the way to go. Is
aur is having really good action, none of that. It's
not hot you get out there at night, man, it's
it's nice out there. You get off shore of Miami,
you see all the beautiful lights. So by the way,
we're also doing you know, we do like a fireworks
(39:12):
fishing trip fourth of July.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Sure you want to get away.
Speaker 29 (39:14):
Look, years ago we used to take the boats with
friends and family just around downtown Miami and watch the
fireworks this way. Yeah, but however, you got to put
you gotta have bumpers on, and every enforcement agency around
is going to be all around down there and it's crazy.
So to me, the best thing you could do is
jump on a seventy foot boat, get off shore.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
There, you get away from off.
Speaker 29 (39:39):
Not only do you get to see like six different
fireworks this way, as you get to catch dinner come.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Man like, speaking of experience show, I mean I've definitely
fished on the reward before. Becka by Sun's younger in
the day and Wayinshill plugged along many many decades later,
doing the same thing, but probably better. And it really
is a fun experience. I mean, you've got the old timers,
have've got that special spot back towards the transmit. White
knows about what you hear. Those guys right, you can't
about it there, man, but he's got the great right tackle,
(40:07):
right bait. We had a great time. So yeah, you
can't beat it, dude, got almighty dude.
Speaker 20 (40:14):
Fishing.
Speaker 29 (40:14):
Fishing has changed and our business has changed, and I've
been I'm trying to stay on top of it. But
it isn't so much about filling boxes anymore. And in
customer service, ye, it's part of it, but the biggest
thing is you want to give your customers an experience,
whatever that means. You know, you treat them with a
greeting with a smile. I've had some of the worst
trips in the past week and a half and I
(40:36):
know a lot, but those fish don't get Those fish
don't care who you are. And you go out there
and you do everything you can do.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Man.
Speaker 29 (40:43):
You know, it's a four hour voyage, that's it, and uh,
you got to turn around and repeat. But the bottom
line is we do the best we can, you know
what I mean. And I love teaching people too. I
teach anybody that wants to listen.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Anything I can do to help.
Speaker 29 (40:57):
Did you check any of the videos I posted the
kids catching fish? We had a blast way. We probably
caught six hundred fish. Man, you're flooding social media.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
I have a heart time keeping up all the postry
do man, because you're definitely poster well.
Speaker 20 (41:09):
I had had to hammer a little as.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Joe You know what I mean. Nobody can out Man,
you're the kid, Joey. I try, Man, You're you know,
it's a lot of work, though a lot of people
don't get.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
You know, you actually edited out well, it's not that
it's yeah, tagging people and you know, writing it.
Speaker 29 (41:29):
I just I just, you know what, I whip out
my phone when I got four fish on the little
kids and winding them in and I do a thirty
second shot, and I just kind of want to inspire
people how cool it is to to bring kids in.
Who's who's left, who's going to be next bro miss generations?
Who's going to be taking care of the fisheries and
getting out there and buying tackle and stuff.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
If you don't get them on going so true.
Speaker 20 (41:52):
Boats and boats and boats by the way, Eric.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
Yeah, oh, I can tell you what boat land.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
I've get more excited with leaping into mys that I
do like my stuff. It's got real man, it's a
buyer's market. But when we got to rock the clock,
we have a great week. Catch them up. Man, was great, Wayne,
Thank you very much bringing your favorite buddy Joey. Loved
your connected and got your bloop boys messing with my
(42:21):
bands actually working, aren't they? Yeah, slap one the stylish.
They look good last week and you and you Trip
the Firm were just getting sliwed. Oh my gosh, you
covered skeeters. We want to welts for a week. Wow, crazy.
Let's see what Jim Bob he's welting these days with
the spirit side the brain hole. Well, we're getting that
(42:45):
all out of the way, or what come on, We're good.
Speaker 20 (42:47):
Who's blowing bubbles today? Who is blowing bubbles?
Speaker 2 (42:51):
Blue blue blue of flu? You flew you blue a
few you flew blue blue blue.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
Wow, that's a tongue twister and it's really that three
times say that three times fast flu.
Speaker 20 (43:05):
Let's get hey, let's get to the good stuff. Yeah,
go ahead, Jim, It's absolutely awesome.
Speaker 30 (43:11):
I dove Thursday with my good buddy Marshall that owns
us Marina up here in Deerfield, and I'm gonna tell
you it was.
Speaker 20 (43:22):
The probably the two best times I've done.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
In a really long time.
Speaker 20 (43:26):
Wow.
Speaker 30 (43:28):
Yeah that water temperatures up to and bombing eighty three
eighty four, visibility top to bottom.
Speaker 20 (43:36):
We had a gentle south current.
Speaker 30 (43:38):
You could go against it, and we we did do
some brainholes spearfishing.
Speaker 20 (43:43):
It was actually pretty good. So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm not going there.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
Man. I've just told I've been told to be a
nicer guy in the show by a higher power. Somebody
told me to be a nicer guy. So I'm gonna
go in to nice small and it just totally gloss
over the brain hole? Really all right? But your eyes twitching?
Speaker 4 (44:07):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Wow? Yeah, Jyp, what what what species official to put
a spirits of the brain hole?
Speaker 20 (44:18):
A red grouper?
Speaker 2 (44:21):
A scamp? How about a scamp grouper? I can't hold that.
Speaker 20 (44:25):
How about a scamp grouper? A scamp grouper? I learned something.
The scampgrouper is twenty inches overall length, So I didn't.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
I did not know that.
Speaker 20 (44:36):
They kind of look like a black because.
Speaker 30 (44:39):
They are dark, but they've got that extended tail on
on the top of the bottom.
Speaker 20 (44:45):
It's kind of a nice and they taste pretty good.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Very rarely seen a skank. I forget what you say,
scamp camp. It's a skank, skank, grouper.
Speaker 20 (44:57):
A skank is I think some of the women that
you've dated.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Eric, well, I can't deny that for sure. I got
a bad anyway spot ever. Have you spot any bugs
while you're out there looking around?
Speaker 20 (45:14):
Actually not bad, but I thought they.
Speaker 30 (45:16):
Would be more loaded because all right, a couple of
weeks ago, or actually last Saturday, I went out and
I went on with Doctor leones Vote and it was
it was a stream in north current, crappy visibility, cold
that we had. We've had these upwellings for like two
weeks now, and it was just really been ugly out there.
Speaker 20 (45:36):
I gotta tell you, it's changed. It's beautiful. It's absolutely awesome.
So yeah, I'll say that things are now. It's summertime.
It's summertime.
Speaker 30 (45:48):
I think we get and and listen, we got six
weeks left and and it's lobster season.
Speaker 23 (45:53):
But I have not.
Speaker 20 (45:54):
We've been kind of staying in on the third reef.
Speaker 30 (45:57):
And then we jumped in on the second reef of
the day. And quite honestly, two weeks ago they were loaded.
It wasn't that it wasn't loaded. So we haven't really
done any scouting. We got six weeks to mini season,
so you know.
Speaker 20 (46:12):
But now was the time.
Speaker 30 (46:13):
Now is the time, all your divers get out there
and get your mini season plans set, get your regulators service,
get your tanks checked VIP, get your license.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
How about a license? Get yourn.
Speaker 4 (46:31):
That's not a bad idea.
Speaker 23 (46:32):
That's when you get old like me.
Speaker 20 (46:36):
You don't need a license anymore.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Buddy, And there's even a good one. Listen.
Speaker 30 (46:41):

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
A shark.
Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
It was very productive.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Yesterday evening nice man, the evening by evening good. That's right. Yeah,
for sure. I haven't talked to Betty and such. The
Panthers won the Dailey Cup, so I guess I mentioning Benny.
You're very happy about that. The Cats have repeated and
he's a Rangers fan. Come on, man, he's a Panthers fan, man,
So you go what you wanted, Benny. They got there.
(01:08:27):
They got their title man again. Yeah, they got the
title again.
Speaker 39 (01:08:33):
We got to see him win it at home again.
Speaker 14 (01:08:34):
Two years in a row.
Speaker 39 (01:08:35):
I got to witness a team raised with Stanley Cup.
Whether I'm a rangerstan or a Bendwagon Panther fan, it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
Was a cool, cool experience.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
You know, you gotta respect that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
A joke brought appointed by the way you said football
is coming back, Joe, three months, three months, it's back already,
three months, this whole thing with bet pre season quarterback
and your Raiders and my Dolphins were back. Can you
believe that? Man, that's insanely quick. Man, Wow, your hands
are tied. Man, go ad to finish up with the
(01:09:06):
clients catchers remaining. Mahi man and thanks so much for
being on the show every weekend. Thanks. We appreciate you guys.
Speaker 5 (01:09:12):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Before man, so I start my bucket, still have for grabs.
Somebody's got it yet. All you do is simply dial
your phone eight six number two, as Joe picked out,
come on eight six six eight zero one zero nine
four zero. Just tell Jeff, hey, I'm here and you're
to you. You'll be a winner two number two two too. Yeah.
So Benny mentioned that the tunas were thick. Joe, we
(01:09:34):
thought there was cannon, man, I mean, who do yeah?
The captains though, I guess we don't know. Jack Well,
Jimbo and.
Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
A couple of the other guys said, you know they're gone.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Is it just a location? Like is it Broward?
Speaker 3 (01:09:49):
We're gonna have those schools still around, you know what
I mean? But like I mean, you're gonna someone's gonna
get lucky. I mean, they're here. It's just not It's
not like they disappeared.
Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
But yeah, I mean, what's something the show up on.
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
And he's still but he's still getting them right.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
With you? Not your last slammer coming up in August
and they show thickest thieves. But that'd be great, man,
would be great to have a That would be guys
who will wake him over and slam a few nice
big tuna fish.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
That would be awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
The guys you invite him around the planet. This thing, man,
I know, the biggie of the big Super super Bowl
of Joe Hector tournaments.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
I would love to see just a monster wahoo on stage.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
That would be That would be I don't think your day.
Speaker 3 (01:10:29):
Yeah, that would that would put an exclamation point right
on the year.
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
We're gonna ask you later to show why that one
fish has become your fear fish of wall because that
you gonta, you gotta tat of a wath hole on
your body. That is your fish. I want to find
out why later, why that is your fish. Okay, shall

by Mercury Marine.
Speaker 14 (01:15:27):
Go Boldly. Here's Thearic Brandon and Joe Hector.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
It's a lovely Saturday morning here Stephen J. Gray Land
and you know when you're nineteen They got a chance
to actually celebrate that show this, Joe, because you're in tournament, right,
in a tournament and a celebratory number the day, but
you're number nineteen now, crazy man? How many more can
this thing keep going? I don't even know. I think
(01:15:52):
we ever renewed for another five years? Nineteen years, man,
pretty dog on one A long time man.
Speaker 3 (01:15:59):
Yeah, I mean I was in college.
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
Yeah. But the thing is about the show is every
weekend we do want something like Jimbo hide this rant
this morning about how to work birds properly. So we
get a kind of a tutorial every weekend of something
to do with normal fishing. Right, It's not just beating
the same old fish every weekend. Yeah right, Yeah, But
I always say, why be normal, Joe? That's boring? You
know why normal? Man? Let's be like Vinnie Sacks, right,
(01:16:21):
shall we? Yeah? I saw his photos by the way,
he was banging this week man? Doc was loaded? Oh
nice Vinnie? What's up? Buddy Beney?
Speaker 16 (01:16:32):
Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
How are you ben doing good?
Speaker 16 (01:16:37):
Just uh getting a boat ready here for uh? We
got two trips today morning and afternoon, so you how
that goes?
Speaker 26 (01:16:44):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
VINNI you're one of the most laid back guys in
the show. You're kind of like, hey, man, what's up? Guys?
Kind of like Cory. He kind of like Correy, kind
of laid back, like chill, like, yeah, man, I'm here,
tie knots and whatever, loads the bubble fuel.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
That's all good man, whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
Yeah, I got myself a two hundred pounds.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
Why be normal? Why be like us two idiots and
just be his own self?
Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
Exactly what video? I saw your book week bringing us
a fish man talk about you for your week? I
mean I saw the doc with with stuff on it.
It looked great.
Speaker 16 (01:17:12):
Yeah, we had a decent week. It's funny every time
Joe says, oh, any wahoo or any mahi, I always
say no, and in that day I always catch exactly what.
Speaker 42 (01:17:24):
Wow?
Speaker 16 (01:17:25):
So last last week, any any wahoo around? I said no,
not really, and sure enough I thought one that morning.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
So well, let me know, you are a good luck charge.
So what fish you want to catch today, vidy, because
we'll just mention it and you'll you'll nail a man.
Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
Which any wahoo?
Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
There you go?
Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
Probably that's right.
Speaker 16 (01:17:49):
But the the week was pretty good. Just here, we've
had some weird conditions. It's like south cron in the
morning and then by like ten o'clock eleven and swhich
is north. So so kind of been a little bit
of everything going around. Nothing too steady, Like I said,
a mixed bag.
Speaker 4 (01:18:05):
I guess we we did pretty good on the bottom fishing.
Speaker 16 (01:18:10):
Yesterday. We caught some night yellow eye snappers, orghees or millions,
a lot of benitas around on the reef, so just
that time of year. There was some dolphin earlier in
the week. I haven't been out offshore looking for him
in a couple of days, so I can't tell you
how solid they are anymore. I'm sure there's still biting.
Visit Kipson and the keys, right, I would say this
(01:18:32):
week there was a really cool fish caught. I don't
know if you heard about it. One of the local
charter boats here, and it's called family tradition. They caught
a one hundred and forty eight pound opa no outsword fishing,
oh at ope.
Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
But see that's a I thought I was a cousin
to a sunfish or a mola mola, my favorite fish
of ball, my sleepy little happy mola. Well it looked
it looks similar, but they're actually I did some research
on chat GPT. Yeah, not related, but they do look similar,
right videos.
Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
You eat them?
Speaker 16 (01:19:04):
Yeah, really good, really good sushi. They got like three
different types of meat on them or something like that.
I've only ever heard of one ever caught before this
one here, and that was a while ago. They catch
him in California, but very rare for this. This side
pretty cool fish.
Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
What is it? Open eat for bait?
Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
Was cut bait, live bait or what I guess your
sword bait?
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
Wow? Got him done? Deep? Okay, got you there?
Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Yeah, they got it.
Speaker 16 (01:19:33):
Daytime sword fishing.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Okay, Joe? Cool? But man, how about it? Look up
that open thing, it said, goofy looking fish. Yeah, I
got to look that up like a big fed pancake.
We had just a minute ago. We had Benny on
the phone and he was just in the middle of
like a tire rate on his boat. He was going
through just a ton of mahi. Just said her all
around the boat and he was like directing of traffic
whatever else. So apparently I think the mahi out there, Vinnie,
(01:19:58):
But you're not big. These are just average size fish.
Speaker 16 (01:20:00):
Right, Yeah, schoolies as we call maybe a couple of
heavy lifters. But those sizes are the best eating, that's
for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
Yeah, did you guys target those quite off? When you
go out, most of your clients want to catch the
mahi or doronto dolphin. We call yeah cool these opahs
look at this? Yeah, there you go, Joe, So you
just got a lit up by singing open there. They
look like almost like an angelfish, like a monster angelfish.
(01:20:30):
So it's weird. Is your crew heading out that they
get a full boat there? Because a lot of a
lot of our charter captains, by the way, you're telling
us it's slow, they can't get a booking over the week.
Are you staying, You're staying pretty busy.
Speaker 16 (01:20:41):
It's been pretty busy here for Lauderdale. Like I said,
we got two trips today. We got a four hour
this morning, and we got a six hour this afternoon.
So they will get lucky and get some nice black
things this afternoon. The morning's been tough. A lot of benitas,
a couple of kingfish if you're lucky, and then you might,
you know, get that unicorn and get that wall here.
(01:21:01):
There's been a few rounds, so hopefully Joe can speak
one into existence for me.
Speaker 4 (01:21:06):
This morning.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
Yeah, man, you might even get an open.
Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Joe, tell him man whatever he wants. Okay, you're as
good luck. I asked him, how's the you want to
catch a DM open? Now? Okay? Yeah, I just said, yeah, hey, Vinny,
how's the OPA fishing?
Speaker 6 (01:21:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
Right there you go. Great questions. Can you imagine.
Speaker 16 (01:21:28):
That if I get one of those today, I'm buying
a lottery ticket for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
No, you buy what you get one of those that
you have to come over and just touch Joe's hand
and just say, bring me some more luckman, because you
are a luckman. But anyway, hey, fndy to fish on
your boat. Man. Tell folks the best way to contact you, brother,
You can look us.
Speaker 16 (01:21:46):
Up online at Fort Lauderdale Sport Fishing dot com or
you can call us direct at nine.
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
All right, well, viny, I'll tell you what thing you
bring A strong man. We appreciate you the program. Yeah,
you're kind of a seri kind of guy, which I
do appreciate because we're kind of a couple of cutups
right here. But you keep it real and talking real nut.
Thanks again, and good luck with an open later on today.
Thanks brother, All right, take care of you, guys. See it.
Here's Johnny all right, the most informative guy at a
(01:22:16):
young age show. This dude is just so full of information.
I don't know how his brain works. He just sucks
up like a sponge. Yeah, he's his brain just it's
like a computer, like an IQ checking this guy. Just
see ranks. He gotta be like off the chart, probably think,
oh yeah, because we're both a couple of dim wits.
Oh yeah, we were like ranked below their normal average scale. Definitely,
(01:22:38):
we both are dumb asses, pretty correct. Yeah, thank you, Yeah, Johnny,
Johnny Stipill, good one and Buddy, Good morning, guys.
Speaker 40 (01:22:47):
I'm a little distracted at the moment. I'm down here
at black Point Marina.
Speaker 4 (01:22:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 40 (01:22:53):
They need to close this place down. This is ridiculous
down here with the amount of boats.
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Whoa wow, I do know black Point real well. By
doing many seat trails on that way with clients, we've
got their boat's wreck stored and take up run and
that rundown. That one channel there, Johnny is like forever
and ever a slow wake, no go anywhere zone.
Speaker 42 (01:23:14):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
God, is that bad?
Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
Huh?
Speaker 39 (01:23:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:23:17):
That bad? Joe? Yeah, Yeah, it's a less than ideal.
Speaker 40 (01:23:23):
There's just at the boat ramp right now, there's probably
forty boats and about thirty in line to put their
boats in the water.
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
Yeah. What just a typical weekend at black Point. I
mean it's not there's nothing special going on. Joe's just
that's that's the way it is, man, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
Wow.
Speaker 40 (01:23:40):
But aside from that, we're going down to try to
catch some sarpent and some bonefish on the.
Speaker 4 (01:23:45):
Uh oh on the beach.
Speaker 40 (01:23:47):
Down here in Miami. And it was in fresh water
all week, so it's nice to get the boat stretched
out on some salt water and get to see some
different stuff, maybe some clean water.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
But the fishing this week was really good.
Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
You know.
Speaker 40 (01:24:03):
We fished Lake e every day this week, Monday through Friday,
and fishing was really good. Every day was a new
challenge of finding some new fish, whether it was the
peacocks being deep or underdocks, or you know, we saw
a couple still on bed left over from the spawning season.
(01:24:24):
Clown knife fish were a little tough to catch this week,
but we definitely got I mean a lot of them,
and we even managed the snakehead this week. So all
in all, it was a well rounded week on the
lake eye of Chain and fishing is really good right now,
and I assume it'll probably be good for you know,
the next couple months until we get to that like
(01:24:47):
September October where the fish start to change direction a
little bit, but otherwise it should be good until then.
Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
Now, So you're bunk fishing out of black Point at
Tarpa fishing out that way. I didn't know they were
hanging around at area.
Speaker 36 (01:25:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 40 (01:25:01):
So you run out of black Point, you basically just
run south almost te Qui Largo and just look for
the tarp and rolling.
Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
Gotcha. Very cool, he's roll it away south. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:25:13):
And it's been a while, right Johnny, since you went tarpinfishing,
and something happened in a while.
Speaker 4 (01:25:17):
Yeah, I haven't.
Speaker 40 (01:25:19):
I haven't been tarbinfishing in in a minute, so to speak.
And I'm looking forward to at least just seeing some fish.
I don't know, you know, I'm a little rusty on
the tarpain game. But uh, we're just going down here
to have a nice, fun, easy day, like I said,
get away from the fresh water for a day and
see some different stuff and just you know, just whether
(01:25:41):
it was supposed to be real nice It looks a
little choppy out on the bay right now, but hopefully
we've got a nice smooth ride and in our boat
and got to run about fifteen miles to get to
where we're going.
Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
So oh wow, all right, well, big question of course
for you right now, my friend, you have something very
supecial to go about it. Have you guys picked a
wedding day to tie that big knot there? My friend?
Speaker 40 (01:26:05):
Oh yeah, November twenty second, Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
November twenty second. All right, So I guess you'll do
the right thing to have like a wedding registere so
we can all send you just massive amounts of gifts.
Speaker 40 (01:26:16):
That would be I mean, I think Laura is working
on that, but that would be amazing. Yeah, we're doing
a very very small, thirty five person wedding down in Isla, Morada.
Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
It should be really nice. Yeah.
Speaker 40 (01:26:30):
I always appreciate your guys and support.
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
I wonder what he needs for his wedding day, Joe,
you need like the china or flatware, or maybe just
more more mono and fishing line rodgs and reels. You'll
see his list, Joe, unlike others, he'll have a whole
big section of like fishing tackle. Oh yeah, don't send flowers,
don't send don't send plates, send me, send me fans
(01:26:55):
and TLDs or whatever. Laura would be like, nope, nope,
I ain't having a bit. No, right, that's funny. So
Johnny fish on the bonefish man, you're throwing what flies
out of them? Or what are you actually throwing for?
Speaker 8 (01:27:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 20 (01:27:12):
Yeah, you could throw flies.
Speaker 40 (01:27:14):
I don't really anticipate to see too many bonefish today
with the wind, but uh, yeah, flies. I brought two
fly rods and I actually tie some homemade like jigs
that look like flies.
Speaker 20 (01:27:30):
So either one of.
Speaker 40 (01:27:31):
Those two should should do the trick, and you know,
I don't know, hopefully we'll find something worthwhile.
Speaker 2 (01:27:37):
Are they crab eaters too? Out of curiosity?
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
Yeah? Now they actually so.
Speaker 40 (01:27:46):
They eat like small crabs, like little baby crabs, but
not like the not the crabs that I have. I
brought some crabs in case you saw a permit. Yeah,
but they bonefish surprisingly have a vast diet from small
minos to crustaceans, shrimp, small crabs, you know, all that stuff.
They're they're wide, wide variety of eaters right there.
Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
I caught one on a shrimp at Lighthouse Point, Marina
when I was fishing off my kayaks.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Yeah, a nice one. Yeah, that's one species of fish.
I want to call it one. I only caught one
until my entire life, okay, uh huh. And it was
probably the fastest fish taking lot off my reel life
fish ever caught. Literally the fastest to spool me. Yeah, man,
they are fast fish, Johny, I better be you better
be ready, buddy. Yeah right, I'm ready.
Speaker 40 (01:28:36):
I got I got some eight pounds has sprayed and
a lot of it so they can make some nice
long runs.
Speaker 2 (01:28:42):
There you go. All right, buddy, Wait man, have a
great weekend and looking forward to November when those wodding
bells will ring and you'll be uh strapped like Joe
and many other happily married folks with that nice wife
at your side. Yeah, your soul forever and ever. Okay,
I've had two x fis. Don't look for me, for instance.
I'm totally a loser in the marriage category. Okay, so

Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
Anyway, we missed it for two weeks. Made seriously, we
had to do the weather ourselves and it was actutely pathetic.
So we're glad to prow us back in the hot sea. Man.
But yeah, we've been suffering with a real, real heat
wave here. It's been miserably hot. Uh what is it
more coming up? I'm assuming yes, probably yeah, you got those.
Speaker 42 (01:37:04):
Those storms every day and the heat for sure.
Speaker 45 (01:37:07):
Fifty percent chance of showers and storms today, otherwise mostly

Speaker 2 (01:38:04):
Yep, right, it's like and also magically how higher electric
bill goes like FPL kind of like locks on, like
oh it's June, let's just double, just double your electric
bill because they didn't want to read the meters anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
Well, not just that, like if you have a pool,
like I have a pool, so like you're the timer
in the summertime, I have to run it a lot longer.
Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
Oh my gosh, man the electric shade. Yeah yeah, hey, gen.
Last question about Europe? What was your favorite food out
of those three countries? Was it to Germany? What caught
your your palette there over there?
Speaker 42 (01:38:37):
My favorite food is the German food.
Speaker 2 (01:38:39):
Okay, love it. It's just soul food, you know, heavy.
Speaker 42 (01:38:43):
Wiener schnitzel and potatoes and so.
Speaker 45 (01:38:48):
Good' he he like, my son rated the pizza throughout Italy,
every pizza he ate.
Speaker 42 (01:38:56):
He rated it and we took a picture of him.
It's it was hilarious. So he's I think that's what's
an eight point four?
Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
That's awesome. Yeah, that is so great. So I don't
know how you do this. Jen, You're on TV. You're
on Discovery Channel. How do you manage to stay and
you're on you know, Weather channel? How do you manage
stay so thin? Do you have a special Jim Jim
Ratt coacher? How do you do it? Got him?
Speaker 42 (01:39:21):
Might just chase little boys around and that's about it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
Yeah, that keeps the weight off.
Speaker 4 (01:39:31):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:39:31):
Well, Jeffer's so glad you're back. It's a sweltering, disgusting,
obviously bad world here we're living in because of summertime
in South Florida. We can't avoid it. But glad you're back. Seriously, Yeah, all.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
Right, and we got football coming up jan We got
like three months.
Speaker 42 (01:39:50):
I know, I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
What are you thinking? What's your what's your Saints?
Speaker 4 (01:39:54):
Looking like?
Speaker 42 (01:39:56):
I don't think anything these days.
Speaker 45 (01:39:59):
I'm I'm gonna just wait and see how it plays out,
and I'll have more thoughts closer too, I'm sure, But right.
Speaker 42 (01:40:06):
Now I'm like, I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
And Derek Carr has lived happily living in retirement. He
gave up twenty eight million dollars on the table left
it said, I'm good. You want to thank you Jen
very much, have a great weekend. Okay, see it Yet,
so we have tried to reach skip Braydean. He can
tell me there's a special number they're going to use today.
(01:40:29):
But Jeff is saying that special number is not working. Wow. Offshore,
I did do some snooping around knowing the keys, I
might add, okay, and I will say the dolphin are
still pretty dog gone. The number one fish down that way,
huh yeah, okay, big mahi again. The ones I saw
were swingers, a couple occasional gaffers. You got snappers popping
(01:40:52):
pretty well.
Speaker 23 (01:40:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
I haven't fished the keys for so long. I can't
tell you, Joe, I have him in the keys in
probably ten years. Wow, how about you? It's been right
probably around ten years. It's like right in our backyard.
It's up on a highway just head south and you know,
you go past jew Fish Creek Bridge and there you
are in Key Largo. Let me ask you this, though,
(01:41:15):
would you rather go to the Bahamas or the Keys?
That's a toss up bed.
Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
I'd rather go to the Bahamas.
Speaker 2 (01:41:23):
Yeah, I think I want to stay local to do
the keys. Really, yeah, I get just some little crash
crash pad man. Have a rental boat down there. Maybe
book on them. Our caps down there maybe maybe go
out with the skipping at George Clark Junior. All right, yeah,
I mean, but you have some bad things happened to
you in the Bahamas. I was kind of surprised you
said you want to go back.
Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
Well that's the thing, Like the Bahamas is great if
you're going on a vacation and you just want to
like get away from it all. Now if you're going
there to like make money and work, it could be tough,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
You gotta deal with a lot there. You had a
situation that wasn't too pleasant. Would stop me from doing
tournaments over there? Correct, Yeah, it was a part of it.
I mean, we're not going to go to the whole thing,
but it was almost borderline dangerous.
Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
I mean there were some times we signed so we
were there for four years. We signed a three year
contract when we started. We did sign another year because
the it was going decent, even though on the back
end it was a lot. But yeah, they just do
things a lot different there, man. Like I was I
(01:42:33):
that that tournament aged me probably ten years, isn't it
called Like I learned a lot. Many want to be
paid for things.
Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
No, No, no, all there is no, all have their
hand out, and if you don't give it to them,
they could become a little bit distressed.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
And you got to remember over there, here's a tip
if you're doing business there. The let's say you go
to a hotel, the owner of that hotel, they're all connected.
Whether it's the server or the security or the guy
that cleans the bathrooms, they are all like part of
(01:43:12):
this system.
Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
System system.
Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
It's like a back end system where they are all connected,
so like one thing will affect everything else.
Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
So everybody the system's got a little handout for you
have to.
Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
If you don't, there's one chink in that system got
major problems.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
There's a podcast that Joe's done many years ago. By
the way, I caught the story. Actually it was very engaging.
I actually listened to your entire wrap about experience and
it put me in that moment I said, Holy, this
guy was in some serious stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
Yeah, man, at the moment, envelopes of cash.
Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
Now, we're not disrespected the Bahamas. We're not saying there's
anything wrong with the Bahamas.
Speaker 3 (01:43:59):
A No, it's just the way they do.
Speaker 2 (01:44:01):
It's the way it works that every country has got
a different way of doing thing. They have that way
of doing things.
Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
They have a way of doing things. Sont prepare yourself. Listen,
I made an extra wallet. I made great friends there
that I'll have forever. The relationship I had with a
lot of the Behemians there were were amazing.
Speaker 46 (01:44:18):
You just have to learn and it took us, you know,
a couple of years to really learn that. Like this
is their way of how it all works.
Speaker 2 (01:44:28):
And it's spring cash.
Speaker 3 (01:44:30):
Bring a lot of cash.
Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
Oh you know, George, Okay, give us George real quick. Yeah, George, Heyboddy,
are you horn? George?
Speaker 47 (01:44:39):
Hey, good morning, Good morning guys.
Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
No, George, you're on that that you're on that beautiful boat.
You got that wahoo thing going on. What's that thing called?
Speaker 47 (01:44:48):
It's the wahoo. Yeah, it's a nice it's a fifty
four hatters a.
Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
Crew.
Speaker 47 (01:44:53):
We're fishing in the University of Miami tournament this morning,
so we're looking out standing.
Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
So also, Skip told me last night he was had
a special number to hook up with you because you
guys will be all shore fishing. But uh, very cool, George.
Good to hear your voice on the show. Skip. We
missing like crazy. Any they biting that that way? What's
going on.
Speaker 23 (01:45:13):
No, the fishing has been good.
Speaker 47 (01:45:15):
Actually yesterday we didn't fish yesterday, but a lot of
the books that that went out actually found some bigger
size mahi, and of course, in a tournament, that's what
we're looking for. But you know, I mean, there's plenty
of schooly schoolly fish out here too, so if you're
heading off shore, you can you can definitely plan on
catching some schoolies at worst. And there's also some black
(01:45:36):
fin tuna that's been around. So the guy that got
the double the double combo there awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
Any size to the blackfin or are they just kind
of like football's No.
Speaker 47 (01:45:45):
They're they're football size, but you know they're they've actually
they're they're probably like six to.
Speaker 2 (01:45:49):
Ten pound range.
Speaker 4 (01:45:51):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Okay, nice, you want to see me.
Speaker 47 (01:45:54):
You can capture one of those, and you're gonna be all.
Speaker 2 (01:45:56):
Said George, Man, it's been like at least a year.
How you been hasn't been that long while?
Speaker 3 (01:46:05):
I think it's been that long since I talked to you.
Speaker 2 (01:46:08):
Yeah, yeah, well, you know what they say, time flies.
Speaker 47 (01:46:12):
But it's good to hear you, guys, and I had
to hear you guys. I'm just happy to be out
here on the water. We've had we've had some really
great trips here lately, some really cool people. But the
fishing is uh, this might be one of our better
seasons for for mahi fishing.
Speaker 2 (01:46:27):
It's just nice.
Speaker 47 (01:46:28):
Yeah, a been consistently good and uh. And there's been
some builtfish around. We had the last couple of weeks,
there's been quite a few blue marlin caught in the
upper keys.
Speaker 23 (01:46:39):
Wow.
Speaker 47 (01:46:40):
I mean, if you really want to go mess with them,
put something big out there in the spread and you
might just you might just find one.
Speaker 4 (01:46:48):
We had we had one either tuna.
Speaker 23 (01:46:49):
A couple of days ago.
Speaker 47 (01:46:51):
We had hooked a tuna on the feathers and of
course that's light leader thirty pounds liter.
Speaker 23 (01:46:56):
And then we had the.
Speaker 47 (01:46:57):
Billfish come up with the small blue eight ate one
of the tuners and we had them on for about
five minutes and then he went through the leaders.
Speaker 2 (01:47:05):
So oh wow, George, we got to rock the clock.
He caught us towards end, towards the break here, Baba,
Hey have a great day. I'm glad you got through
on the phone, and I love hearing your voice. Yeah
tell skip, we said, yeah, hey, keep skipping.
Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
