back in the day.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Okay, that place at all nineteen forty two, but roughly.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
The melting Pot is still open. By the way, I
know the owner very well.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Oh do you really?

Speaker 5 (00:47):
I do?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Was Dave? You get use big pots of melted cheese?

Speaker 6 (00:50):
Man?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
You put like Veggi's in and meats and stuff. It's
really delish. It's protein.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Johnny Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Our special John, by the way, is a Johnny stim
back from Johnny Jigs dot Com Johnny Dams. Johnny Boy.
He's got some busting news. If you guys are deep
drop jiggers like this man is a professional. By the way,
something coming up on the show. We got to bust
out some big news.

Speaker 7 (01:14):
You can't tell him right at the beginning though, it's.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
A teaser, Okay, I saw on it's incredible. That will
do the pleaser later. So you're right, My great dear
friend Joe Jammin hecked everybody, Oh goo tomorrow tomorrow back
at nine forty, Jeff flying the ship and Stephen j
crazy man. Great this morning, really good man. So we'll
get some football talk out of the way real quick. Okay,
So your Raiders lost.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Makes you happy? Okay, over joined you have no place
to tell me about the Raiders losing, Dolphins fan, No,
I know, we had a.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Buffalo game that went like fifty eight minutes great, and
the last two was total tragedy.

Speaker 8 (01:51):
So really, in three weeks, right, you guys have played
two quarters of good football, I'd.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Say, pretty much, Yeah, all right, pretty much. Then we
had a roughing the kicker a penalty which gave us
all back to Buffalo, and then two I theres a
pick right to a linebacker like he just gave him
a gift, and then the game is pretty much over.
So yeah, I know three is where we be, man.

Speaker 8 (02:12):
I think now we can kind of like step back,
take a look, you know, and there's two things that
we know.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Okay, right.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
The Raiders are one and one.

Speaker 8 (02:21):
We beat We went into New England, beat them in
the rain, lost to the Chargers, which is like top
three teams in the league. Raiders will be okay, okay,
and then you have the Dolphins. My prediction, yes, bye
week eight, there will be discussions of John Gruden to

(02:43):
the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
I was so hoping you might say that because I
would live at Chucky Head and you'd be happy. I'd
be happy to it.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
By the way, my prediction, after the Raiders lose a
couple more games, Joe will no longer be talking about
him everybody.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
We got us for three years now where he's mister
greater fanatic, and then like they lose two or three
and he's like trashing his shirts and having a little
baby tan.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah, I don't have my flag anymore. I already burned it.

Speaker 9 (03:13):
See there you go.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
At least he's honest.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Back to our great guest, Johnny Steidup, Johnny hows the
worbre Japan lately?

Speaker 7 (03:20):
Japan?

Speaker 10 (03:20):
Yes, that was quite the experience in Japan. I can
tell you the fishing is not that great. However, The
experience was pretty amazing.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
The Japanese overfished everything, and yeah, that's why.

Speaker 10 (03:35):
Neighborhood's slow pitchiging was invented because it was over fish.
There was very few fish left and they had to
figure out how to kill the rest of them.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Wow, pretty much put a right out there, just like
the rest of the up there. That's why I need
somebody word varieties of fish, man, All the main species
are gone now toy, three eyed toy and crap.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
You know remember the Simpsons that three eyed fish.

Speaker 8 (03:59):
Yeah, that's what I picture there, Like they got koi
that are like all weird and deformed.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
And he speaking of three eyes. Captain Jimbo Thomas is
holding online one. Oh there he is, that's all he
sees fish. So well, he's actually got three eyes, two
and then one forehead.

Speaker 11 (04:13):
That's weird.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
It's just a strange man.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
So he's like a cyclops slash pretty much.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, want you to bring him on, Joey, He's waiting
on you your turn. Intro.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I did a big one last week.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Remember that this man goes around the planet. Look at
your predatory speci He's afraid of nothing. Stone crab holes
don't make this man fear with two digits left on
his right hand. He is the lobster king. He's a
stone crab king. He's the Mahi mahi master bar Nune,
the one, the only captain, Jimbo Thomas.

Speaker 12 (04:41):
With three eyes, with three.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Three eyes?

Speaker 12 (04:47):
Where did that come from?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, we're Japanese fish and somebody brought up three eyes
on a fish. I don't know that it wasn't.

Speaker 12 (04:54):
Yeah, okay, whatever, man, gotcha.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
How are you, dear, Jimmy boy, I'm.

Speaker 12 (05:01):
Great, thank you. Looks like we have another nice day.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
You know.

Speaker 12 (05:05):
We had a full day without tsunami yesterday, at least
down in our area, and it looks like today might
be another one. So that's all good. We have made
it out in all of this rain a couple of days,
and the fish are already wet, so the rain doesn't
really affect them too much. But fish has been all right.

(05:27):
I wouldn't say it's red hot. Body means there's still
some dolphin out there, but they've been a good ways offshore,
and from one day to the next it's been so
so or good.

Speaker 13 (05:39):
So what's today? Saturday?

Speaker 12 (05:41):
Thursday, there was only a few dolphin called, but it
was in a lot of rain and made it hard
to see anything. But yesterday there was a big weed
line about eight miles off shore and there's quite a
few dolphin on it, So you know, today's another day.
Who knows that weed line that was out there yesterday
is in north of Palm Beach today, So if you're

(06:03):
fishing up that way, maybe you will be able to
locate that weed line and whatever fish didn't get caught
yesterday will be caught today. But then there's more stuff
moving up today, so who knows what it is.

Speaker 14 (06:17):
I haven't had.

Speaker 12 (06:18):
Any reports in the Keys, so a lot of times
you hear big weed line down on the Keys and
then we get to see it a day or so
later or day later, so there's dolphin on it.

Speaker 8 (06:27):
Wait, there's no dolphin today the day before.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
I think are the next day? Got the work salad,
So tomorrow, yesterday, today, what.

Speaker 15 (06:44):
Is a.

Speaker 12 (06:47):
Let's just focus on today. We're going to head off
shore and we're going to find a weed line and
we're going to catch.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Dolphin today or yesterday, today and tomorrow from the day
before that.

Speaker 12 (07:01):
I got it cool, right, We're gonna catch this off
of today that we're in the keys yesterday.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Oh Jimbo, have you been like on the left coast
or something?

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Okay, just like that on the radio.

Speaker 12 (07:16):
I get my hair blue and oh god, what a start.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Bird start to breathe the typical.

Speaker 16 (07:29):
All the above, all the above, And if you if
anything good floating should hold some small wallhoos, you could
drop your Johnny down there and get immediately cut off
and then put another one on with some wire wire
leader on it and then go restock when you get in.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You know, I just a a Johnny jig cut off.
That's such a sacrilegiousness. Our guest this morning, you.

Speaker 12 (07:55):
Know, I know I heard that he was in there.
That's why he brought that up.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Said he's got wire ogain.

Speaker 10 (08:01):
Not only why we've got like wired trouble at his
talks too.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
If you really wanted to stick it to a while.

Speaker 13 (08:08):
Who there you go.

Speaker 14 (08:12):
Well, but then also something else you can drop your
jiggy catcher. Has been a lot of black fins around
the last couple of days. Nothing of size, but yeah,
back Jack, I don't think.

Speaker 12 (08:26):
Footballs now they they haven't. Just the size seems to
change depending on what season it is. So any of
the deep water structure has been holding black fins. We
had a instance on Thursday. We were out dropping on
a wreck in about four hundred feet of water. We
called some amberjacks, and it was overcast and drizzly, and

(08:49):
that's what those sooners like, is that overcast will pop
up to the surface, and we saw some fish busting
on the surface. We had some cigar mendows in the
bait well. We cast cigar minnows out there will spinning rods,
and we ended up sitting there doing that for about
an hour, catching black fins and beanitas every cast and

(09:10):
they must have just been hanging underneath the boat or something.
But banitas were eight to ten pounders and the black
fins were like five to eight pounders, so not huge,
but big enough to get some sushi out of. And
after we caught a bunch of those and we were
drifting way away from the wreck, I don't know if

(09:30):
they were holding on the record, for it was just
pure coincidence. We put some feathers out start a trolling
and we were picking them off for a good while
out in like four four hundred and fifty feet of water,
So I don't know if that's going to happen with
the bright sun that looks like we're going to have today,
But that's what happened in the overcast. Otherwise, you know,

(09:51):
if you fish late to the day or get out
there just as the sun's coming up, you can experience that. Also.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
What hell of a report, man? Yeah, yeah, I set
up all the crazy stuf we talked about earlier. Yesterday, Tomorrow,
tomorrow week report man. Yeah, seriously, today is good man, Joe. Today, Well,
you know that's how we rolled yesterday.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
It was yesterday.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Do I ride this all day long? Man? Anyway, Jim
was a flyer going out today. Man, you take the
small boat out of one, dude.

Speaker 12 (10:22):
The small boats going out. We've got a mangro snapper
tournament that we're partaking in todays, like fifteen boats, the
single biggest mangro So we've been diving a couple well
we've been diving a lot lately, but so diving, we
see a lot of big mangroves catching up big mangroves

(10:44):
another story. But we got spots that we have seen
them diving. We're going to go at least see if
we can get one to bite.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Johnny Jig's working on mangroves.

Speaker 10 (10:55):
Yeah, yeah, so you want to you want to go
down to very very small jigs. I'm talking about twenty
forty grand jigs and they're totally effective on Manga.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Another thing man, crazy. Yeah.

Speaker 12 (11:11):
Another thing that's very effective on him that we're going
to be using is live tilters. So that's what we're
going to do.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
It's very effective. Also, Jim O is like Jim Matthew,
just go down and shoot with her the right so
the blike hole do it? Yeah, okay, right, flashed them.
That's it man.

Speaker 12 (11:28):
We could do that, but they can't have any holes
in them for this tournament, so.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Good, no good holes. Okay, all right, Jimm, thanks a
for a rock and great report. Brother, have a great
day today and tomorrow and the day before yesterday. Okay, seriously,
all right.

Speaker 12 (11:43):
You got it. We'll talk to you in the day
after yesterday.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Perfect. So I love this guy, but he's always I
point with our in sanity, you know what I mean. Yeah,
he just rolls with it, man, he.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Just yep, that's the report.

Speaker 7 (11:55):
Gumy pumped. I want to get on the water. I
sitting here.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
I don't know what I want to get because it
was and I want to get something.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Thanks Corey?

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Every weekend? Where you have been in the water? You hold?
What do you do? Dude?

Speaker 25 (18:32):
I'm driving at the moment to uh fishing locations, so
do a little fishing this morning.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
I don't anything I know. Back in the day, we
did a couple of traffic issues, a couple of bombs
foo on the show. So any driving that ticks you off,
please refrain from any explicatives are okay, just watch that
that stuff okay. But anyway, what's been biting this week? Man?

Speaker 25 (18:57):
Uh, it's pretty much we've been a little bit of
sort of everything you know snakeheads of course with the rain,
uh that we did have that was that's been really good. Uh,
peacock bass bite that's been picking up, that's been starting
to school up, getting in that fall bite. So that's
been pretty good. One thing I have been noticing though,

(19:20):
with all that rain that we've been having, which is
not you know, new or anything, is we've been having
a lot of water running and a lot of the
canals and stuff have been a lot of the stillways
have been running, and so it's been kind of a
good thing and a bad thing depending on how much
they've been running that water.

Speaker 13 (19:35):
You know, some of the.

Speaker 25 (19:36):
Canals have been like rivers, and you know, it's been
uh been been made a challenge of times depending on
where you go. So but it's been good. I mean
the getting some large mouths and uh getting some clown
night fish as well. So it's been a little bit
of a little bit of everything.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
How's how's ida is that where you're getting the clowns?

Speaker 25 (19:59):
No, I've been been fishing a lot of canals to
the west of that and stuff, So that's that's where
I've been getting into those. There's been some canals I
found a pile of them. It's just you know how
they are. I'm using artificial a lot of times, so
it's been of a challenge, so sometimes they're not always
the easiest to catch. But I haven't been the idea.

(20:21):
I've been kind of stay away from that place because
of the amount of guys that are in that place. Yeah, yeah,
rolling in the guys there now.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
So right, so Corey, real quick man. Our guest is
Johnny steent Up and Johnny Jiggs. I know we talked
about this in past shows. He makes a smaller uh
what do you call these small best microjigs? Mic tosses
up before at all.

Speaker 13 (20:45):
Corey, I really I haven't.

Speaker 26 (20:48):
Well.

Speaker 25 (20:49):
Like back in the day, like crappie fishing, I did
a lot of that. I would throw those a lot
like doing that. But the jigs I usually throw of anything.
They're pretty good sized or like three to like half
ounced jigs like bass and even sometimes snakeheads. But I know,
I I know guys use them for the peacoast. I

(21:10):
know they tear them up on those or even the
stick lids and all that.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Are they being hit Johnny the same way as you
would be off short. I mean when there's a fluttering
down or when you're bringing it back up and doing
that jerking motions.

Speaker 10 (21:23):
You know what, Johnny Stavelle has really got it like
dialed in and yeah, and so he he says, when
they're betting down deep, he's like he gets them all
all heat it up with with bait and then he
drops it down and is able to jig them.

Speaker 7 (21:37):
So it's yeah, it is.

Speaker 10 (21:38):
It's just a very slight twitch, is what I've experienced myself.
But I'm able to even cast it out because it's
so small and kind of twitch it back to myself
slowly and a lot of times on the.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Fall whack not even close to being it off short.

Speaker 10 (21:55):
It's multi multipurpose basically, but in the fresh water sense,
you know, in the fresh water sense, you know, it's
very very small and and it does have a lot
of hang time in Florida.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Right, great, Right, So Corey, is your mission to go
back and still go back and reclaim your title that
somebody else skank from you?

Speaker 25 (22:14):
Uh? Not really, I mean not not. I mean if
I do, I do, If I don't, don't, I don't
really care anymore, to be honest.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Cory, he's trying to get something out of you.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Don't don't fall for eighty times. You know, maybe it's
not really a big deal anymore. You don't.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
You are just like a medium trying to him.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
I'm trying to get a ryle out of him. Yeah,
I know, that's what I hire me for.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
You Kenny gives just like maybe one location, I don't know,
just a throwaway location, just to give up, you know, listen,
a little bit of happiness.

Speaker 10 (22:51):
Here LAKEA he gave that away.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
No, No, there's that was talked about up in like Broward,
serious lake. We never found out about just playing the lake.
I don't know Lake X, sig Man Lake X. So
you're still not going to share it where that is either? Probably?

Speaker 25 (23:16):
I mean, well it's funny. It's not even a lake.
It's actually a canal system.

Speaker 13 (23:20):
So it's.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Finding out more.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
You've got to laugh at Corey. You're laughing.

Speaker 12 (23:26):
Yeah there.

Speaker 25 (23:29):
I mean, look, if I I'll say this, I mean,
I always look for big fish and if I if
i'm if I can catch a giant, hey, that's great.
And if I get another record, that's great. But I'm
not losing sleepover it's you know, it's just it is
what it is. Eight times, and if.

Speaker 14 (23:44):
I come across it.

Speaker 25 (23:45):
I know I can catch it, so it's I know
that's if it'll happen. It happens, and it doesn't, it doesn't.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
On the lot here on Facebook Live says to use
is a good morning, guys, great report from Corey nor Kowski.
Welcome back, Johnny. So you're on the stream, Corey. They
in the radio here. Man, you're just begging great with
cred and again, reclaim that snakehead title. Whatever you're ready, Joe,
I'm not. I'm just saying when it was ready, Joe.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
I got a question though, for Corey.

Speaker 8 (24:17):
Do you know any other places where there are like
huge schools of redtail catfish? Because I know of one place,
but I would think you would have some of those
spots dialed in.

Speaker 13 (24:33):
Well that's the thing.

Speaker 25 (24:34):
I've never even caught one here and I've never even
seen one here.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
So great question. Yeah, great, yeah, great question.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
I couldn't ask the worst question.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Great questions. I didn't know. My reader.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Corey backed me.

Speaker 25 (25:01):
No, no, no, they are they are here. There, there are
they are in South Florida. They are definitely here. I
mean they are, I just I haven't I haven't been
fortunate enough to catch one yet. Or you know know
exactly where they are just because you know it's people
just release them out of their tanks and there's some
random pond or canal, so you know, I mean, it

(25:23):
could be anywhere.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
So so I have footage there there is a pond.

Speaker 8 (25:31):
I have footage. I had a monster. I lost that one,
that one we talked about before. Actually that was one
of our highest rated episodes. Let's admit that at least,
right Eric, Okay, So long story short, in this pond
and I have footage. I caught a baby one right,
that was mixed of a shoveltail or shoveltail, shovel nose

(25:54):
catfish and a redtail.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
And what I'm and what I'm trying to say is
if those things get full.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
Grown, how big could they actually get in these canal system.

Speaker 25 (26:05):
They hundreds, right, yeah, I mean they get hundreds, they
get the Amazon, they get you know, one hundreds, two
hundred pounds, they get gigantic.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
So this comes to my final question.

Speaker 25 (26:18):
You can't keep They've got a heck of a they
got a heck of an appetite to them, so they'll
eat just about anything exactly.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
And that was leading into my final question.

Speaker 8 (26:27):
Could those things actually become pretty dangerous here where they're
sucking in like everything humans.

Speaker 25 (26:34):
Yeah, yeah, no, they could be a problem for sure.
I mean they could be eating everything, I mean anything, exotics,
which is kind of a good thing. Take out some
of that, you know, control some of them, but they'll
be eating everything.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
And they're here.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
You really strong every weekend, man, you're great on the show.

Speaker 4 (27:20):

Speaker 7 (31:29):
Butters. No he does.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
It's called it's called money whatever he's doing with him,
but he's paying them some good money because this stuff
is top notch. Joey, you're Joe Hector. Me is one
of the greatest online presentation guys with your mixing or
whatever else you do. But his guy is pretty damn good. Great.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Speaking of great, the great, Wayne Kahan is online one.
He's a jig fan, Johnny. As you may know, there's
an iron Man thing when there's buddies out there.

Speaker 10 (31:57):
Oh the og taking guys out chigging.

Speaker 6 (32:01):
Wayne Way, Good morning, Gay, Good morning guy. I don't
know why I'm still hanging around, but I guess the
Good Lord has decided to keep.

Speaker 11 (32:07):
Me around longer than those So that's kind of cool.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
You know, it is well to be here considering the
alternative man talking about your do we you know, this
is our slow time for a lot of things for
a lot of business, you know, in our business anyway,
charter business, party boats whatever. So we shut down one
boat or the other, do some fixing up, cleaning up,
but we're still fishing as much as we can, as

(32:31):
much as we can get people to come down. But
I'm actually running the boat tonight. Captain David's up trying
to shoot a deer somewhere's he's still in the tree somewhere,
I think, But he normally runs my night trips. I said,
you know what, let me stretch my legs, get back
to the night things. So I want to be out
fishing tonight. And it's a great transition time. You know,
where mangrove snappers are pretty much quit spawning. Got the

(32:53):
mullet run coming, there's not you know, honestly, I grew
up chasing, chasing mullet up and down sea walls in
North Miami, and it's and down the beaches, and there's
a lot of fun with mullet. There's a lot good
comes with them too, because when they come down, we
catch you know, usually the mackerel or right behind them
bluefish and.

Speaker 11 (33:12):
Just good stuff to ben Rod's.

Speaker 6 (33:14):
And if if anybody is never ever not fish mullet.

Speaker 11 (33:19):
They need to.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
I mean, you can go buy all the bait you want,
but if you can net finger mullet up to medium
sized mullet, you can catch anything, anything but maybe a
hogfish or a permit. But I mean, I've caught tons
of groupers, amberjacks, big muttons, I've caught sailfish, kingfish love them.

Speaker 11 (33:33):
They love them, big kings love big silver mackerel, or
they do.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Man.

Speaker 11 (33:37):
A lot of people don't.

Speaker 6 (33:38):
Know that, but they historically they've been you know, the
a bait that they come down twice a year. They
migrate a couple of times here, usually April and the
late September, so the mall.

Speaker 11 (33:49):
Run could be on.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
There's times on the way out we'll have a pot
of mullet sitting outside the jetty and one hundred pounds
tarp and are blowing through them twenty pound jack rovalves
just hit the.

Speaker 11 (33:59):
Water and you hook something really cool.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
So that's what i'd suggest to any of the any
of the guys in their small boats looking around, they
see mullet by the net, man by the net, catch
a few baits, you know.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Can I answer a question you shaid a pot of bullet.
Isn't it more like a school of bullet or what
you become a pot?

Speaker 6 (34:19):
Why the names like gaggles and groups and somebody sit
around thinking up these names.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
I'm serious. Yeah, that's that's Eric.

Speaker 8 (34:27):
Yeah, that's your question.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
That is your question.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
I never heard of a pot of mullet really a school.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
I'm sorry, Wayne, sorry about Eric.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
I apologize Wayne.

Speaker 34 (34:43):
Eric on words just talked about he literally just talked
about catching sailfish with mullet, and your brain went.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Maybe whatever, man, wait, I got a question mullet. Wait.

Speaker 8 (35:09):
Wait, So when you're like, if you're using mullet for sailfish,
how are you doing that?

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Like, are you just freelning them out? Or you slow.

Speaker 11 (35:17):
Trolling them every every which way you can either.

Speaker 6 (35:20):
You know, we got into this thing with bridle and baits,
and there's a lot of pluses to it.

Speaker 11 (35:24):
Takes a couple of minutes to learn.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
You get to get needles and bridle and needles and
make loops and rubber bands and stuff, and they're really
really good for a lot of things.

Speaker 11 (35:32):
But in general, you can just hook a mullet through
the upper lip uh huh.

Speaker 6 (35:37):
Depending on the size of the bait circle hooks only
non offset, don't offset them and flat line.

Speaker 11 (35:43):
Them out there.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
But I would.

Speaker 6 (35:45):
Never fish only mono. I'd fish like five or six
wire because.

Speaker 11 (35:49):
Oh wow, the kingfish kill them.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
And the cool thing about mullet, when you're even in
the kite, you could you could bridle them in the
back and kicking around.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Good.

Speaker 6 (35:59):
When a sailfish shows up, they jump, the mullet will
run away and jump out of the water.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
All right, Wayne, describe what what bridle bridling is to
the audience. There's a kind of a new term. It's
not a wedding, you guys, bait do it minutes.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
Bridle of bait that you catch out of a gaggle
of mullet. And that's a there we go ahead, go ahead,
show these anyway. They you can go down the tackle stores.
They got these big giant needles like sewing needles, and
instead of the loop at the end, they have the
it'll actually be cut. They heat them up and they
cut them to make an opening in the loop. So

(36:40):
you make like, you know, one hundred pound braid or something.
Just just make loops that are like four inches long.
And what we used to do, we'd have four or
five needles stuck in a piece of styrofoam, and they'd
each have a bridle hanging on it. As soon as
you grab the bait, take the needle. You can go
through the nose. You can go depending on how you're fishing.
If you're the baits around too fast, you go through

(37:02):
the nose. If you're gonna sit there and the base
is gonna spin circles, you go between the dorsal and
the eye somewhere. Go through the bait, bring it up,
take the hook, hook the hook on both sides of
the bridle, disconnect the needle, Spin the hook three or
four times, stick it back back through the like like
the opening there right right by the bait itself, and

(37:24):
throw them in the water.

Speaker 11 (37:25):
And they last longer, They last a long time.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Bridle. There we go, another new bridling. There you go,
exactly perfect. Another great tip from Wayne to how about that.

Speaker 6 (37:44):
I'll tell you another thing, And I'm not saying you know,
I'm a fisherman that grew up guys like Bouncer and
I and a handful of us grew up. We were
pitching every kind of lure we could pitch. And I'll
tell you right now you could take. You could take
a slow pitch jig that these guys that Johnny makes
cast that and work it under a school of mulla.
Just go, just go more horizontal instead of verticle. It's

(38:04):
a fishing lord, don't forget that. And you can catch
stuck at bluefish and fish whatever's under them. So yeah, yeah,
oh there are great lures, man. You don't have to
restrict them to one specific thing. They're a great fishing lord,
Yes they are. So you don't want to say, oh,
I have to stay absolutely perfectly straight up and down.

Speaker 11 (38:27):
Meanwhile, guys next to you are are you know?

Speaker 6 (38:30):
Like I said, fishing is you got to think a
little bit, you know, and uh you got great. The
lures out now are the best I've ever seen in
my life.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
So wait, you're the man. You give us a great
clinic on the radio. Hear, we got to rock the clock.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
Wait wait, wait and hold on one second. I need
your address though, so Johnny can send you that box.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
We already have worked out.

Speaker 33 (38:51):
Point.

Speaker 6 (38:51):
We were already talking about doing the trip here, pretty student.

Speaker 11 (38:54):
So I'd love to have man.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Thank you so much. Man, have a great week brothers
way all right, can't help all right, just bringing your
favorite buddy there would be diver guy Joey, Yes under
the sea blow him in. Wow, man, you're lean all
over Johnny doing that. Man, I'm gonna sure you like

(39:17):
that man. Touch you know, Johnny, this guy has been
on the radio that Jim Matthews said he's actually dove
and found your lures and shines him up and re
sells him for a massive profit. Wow.

Speaker 7 (39:32):
Heard, that's what's wrong.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
That's wow. That's almost as wrong as is the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Hey, what are you telling on him?

Speaker 2 (39:39):
You know you? I just you are such a called
me out.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
I'm calling him starter man whatever you call me out.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Like great Times or whatever. Man, Hey, Jimmy, you're you're
on the shell. Good morning.

Speaker 35 (39:53):
Joy those Johnny, jig you know, lures are the best man,
and you can I just hope I hope that that
rotten the reel is attached to it down at the
bottom of.

Speaker 9 (40:07):
How you no, no, I tell them, I sell them.
What I don't understand fishermen.

Speaker 35 (40:13):
How do they have those down at the bottom of
the ocean and try to catch fish?

Speaker 9 (40:18):
I don't get it, Okay, try.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
To catch you? Trying to catch you? Divers is what
you're trying to do to you the truth.

Speaker 9 (40:26):
Listen, I've done I've been caught. Okay, no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
Oh yeah, hear that story.

Speaker 9 (40:41):
Nothing big.

Speaker 35 (40:42):
Yeah, Actually you know we have what do I have
a what's called a float that holds my reel that
attaches to my flag at the surface. Okay, so that's
how you identify. Oh, there's a diver down there is
this red and white flag. The minimum distance is supposed

(41:02):
to stay away is three hundred feet.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Wait a minute, that's a lot. Now I've brought you.
I want to hear this. I'm just like, what happened decades?
Go ahead?

Speaker 13 (41:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Sorry, yeah, no, no, no, go right ahead.

Speaker 9 (41:15):
Ask the question.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
I'm just saying, after all these decades, I see a
red flag I thought about actually actually fished there. I
don't have to stay away. That's where it's like I
dropped my broat right up to it. Man, run over
a flag. I've dropped my lines down.

Speaker 9 (41:30):
Yeah, you're the guy.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Divers are going to be a pitchforks all in front
of your house.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Man, I have no friends of all.

Speaker 35 (41:40):
Right, go ahead, no big gil, But we've actually had
uh you know reels, I mean not reels, but the
hooks like hook that hook, that my my float and
I'm going I'm getting pulled off the bottom of the ocean.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
It's like, oh.

Speaker 9 (41:55):
Yeah, yeah, trolling, trolling.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
Gosh, man, so what did you do?

Speaker 9 (42:03):
I cut the line? Then I got another?

Speaker 8 (42:08):
Did you think like instantly, did you know instantly you
were hooked? Or did you think it was something else?

Speaker 9 (42:13):
Maybe you know I knew exactly what it was.

Speaker 13 (42:16):
I knew I was hooked.

Speaker 9 (42:17):
I can hear the boat above me. I can hear
the boat above me trolling trolling past me.

Speaker 35 (42:24):
And then all of a sudden, I'm hooked. I'm like, oh,
this isn't good. So you know, the good news is
you carry you carry a knife for stupid things like that,
You cut the line, and now you have a lure
that you can sell. Okay, there you go.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Chieving what chief?

Speaker 4 (42:38):
What are the more dangerous hooks for divers out there? Like,
if I really wanted to catch your ass, what's a
good one?

Speaker 2 (42:44):
Trouble trouble hooks. Some my recommendations get stuck multiple times.

Speaker 9 (42:48):
Agreed, agreed anything?

Speaker 35 (42:50):
And you guys are you guys are talking about bait
and bait fish and threading the needle through the bait fish.

Speaker 9 (42:56):
I'm going those poor fish. Can you believe it?

Speaker 2 (43:00):
You gotta.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
Time a point.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Let me ask you a question. How good do they feel? Well,
that's spear it pails there nice share on share good
goes to their side their body. How happy you?

Speaker 23 (43:18):
No?

Speaker 9 (43:19):
Because I ain't for the brain hole. Okay, you know that.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
He did.

Speaker 4 (43:26):
We're gonna follow him.

Speaker 9 (43:27):
Let me listen, let me give you my report. Okay,
well listen.

Speaker 35 (43:31):
The last two days I've been blowing bubbles. Okay, I
was on the Lady Go Diver on Thursday, which is
really nice. And yesterday was with my good buddy Marshall
from Meisner Marina and uh we caught our limit yesterday
of lobsters. But I'm gonna tell you right now it's
slim pickings lately, buddy, slim pickings.

Speaker 15 (43:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 9 (43:56):
It finally slowed It finally slowed up.

Speaker 11 (43:59):
That happened.

Speaker 12 (44:00):
Now.

Speaker 35 (44:01):
The good news is we're finding him not only on
the second reef, which is where we were yesterday, but
the guys are finding him out on the third reef.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
So not bad.

Speaker 9 (44:09):
You know, the chiev so they're there, but no big
amounts chee.

Speaker 4 (44:13):
Would you ever go uh a shallow diving or like
around the bridges or like in the keys of our area.

Speaker 35 (44:19):
Why no, no, no, we used to nah, you know,
too much boat traffic. You gotta be you gotta pay attention.
I used to do the Key West channels, cheap Key
West Channel. A current was ripping, we would use a
hook to hook in and grab the lobsters out of holes,
and you're in thirty five thirty feet of water. But
that that was about as dangerous as we ever got

(44:41):
because boats are coming in and out.

Speaker 9 (44:43):
So we try to avoid boats as much as we can.

Speaker 16 (44:46):
So uh.

Speaker 35 (44:47):
But yeah, that was an annual trip down the Key

Speaker 27 (01:06:28):
So that was a nice exciting thing to hear, especially
for the guys that Johnny Jigs. I'm sure that I'll
have some footage for your video, but that was good.
But yeah, I mean, you know me, my jigging, My
jigging time has been limited over the years. I'm just
getting into it with you know, when I got into
some kayak fishing and the hype with that, and uh,
really the kayak fishermen are the ones that turned me.

Speaker 14 (01:06:50):
On the jigging.

Speaker 27 (01:06:51):
You know, as an old school fisherman, I wasn't a
big fan of it, and I thought there was just
some guys pitching around piece of the metal until these
guys were catching more fish than me one day and
I had to jump in on the actions.

Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
You know, see that.

Speaker 7 (01:07:04):
There's a lot of truth to that.

Speaker 10 (01:07:05):
The kayak guys were like my first customers, like my
first guys that were coming into Johnny Jigs regularly and
and buying Jake.

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
It makes sense many Joe and dropped. Yeah, there was
something you.

Speaker 13 (01:07:19):
Could do on a kayak.

Speaker 27 (01:07:20):
You're either putting out a live bait or you're dropping
a jig down. You can't trol you're not you know,
to do other things you could do on a boat,
where you have everything more accessible to you, is harder.
So pretty much, you know, jigging and putting out a
live bait is one of the most productive things to
do on a yak.

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Yeah, exactly. Stuff. So what are guys looking for today again, Benny?
Just the bites? Well, I'm sorry, I said you look
for something just bites today. You're targeting a special species.

Speaker 27 (01:07:46):
Yeah, we're gonna go running gun for mahi specifically. You know,
the water inside here around Pompino hasn't been so great lately.
It's been a little you know, a little dark and nasty.
I could say, Yeah, So we're gonna go run out
find some blue water. There's been some fish out there.
If you find some good patches, there's some good some birds.

(01:08:07):
So we're going to go try to focus on that
and see if we could fill the box with some mahi.
And the goals to be backed by like eleven o'clock.
You know, we were also supposed to leave the dock
at six thirty. People hired me to go on their boat.
I wake up at five o'clock to be here on time,
and they like to start rolling out of bed when
I show up, and then I usually like to leave
and go get breakfast just to prove a point when
they do that.

Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
So I'm just going back up to my Are you
going for breakfast?

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Benny?

Speaker 27 (01:08:32):
Well, I say I'm leaving breakfast and I just go
drive around to prove a plot.

Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
Would you see that big water cash you put in
your head a third late? It doesn't really matter because
you go cash out, buddy. Don't worry about it, right,
good bunny talks man forgot about it anyway, Betty, I
have a great week, brother man. Seriously, come back and
see us on the shet sometimes You're great.

Speaker 27 (01:08:53):
Yeah, for sure, man, anytime. I'd love to be back.

Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
All right, thanks you waiting longer. We're going to debut
this thing right this minute.

Speaker 7 (01:09:00):
Let's do it the moment.

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
Wait on the Facebook live stream could see this, okay,
describe this to the folks of nine forty So grab
that bad boy, Yes, tell us what we've been waiting
on all morning long. There, jay Man.

Speaker 10 (01:09:11):
So this is the pj M two to five pro
jigger hold it slow.

Speaker 7 (01:09:17):
He does not need to hold it slow pitch jigging reel.

Speaker 10 (01:09:21):
And so this has been two years in the making,
and I had this massive, insane wish list of what
I want it in a slow pitch jigging reel because
I've been jigging for quite some time now, and everything
that that I want it pretty much is put into
this reel. So I just basically took my experience from

(01:09:41):
every reel that I've fished over the years for jigging,
and I put it into this reel.

Speaker 7 (01:09:47):
So what makes it special?

Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
Yep.

Speaker 10 (01:09:50):
So this handle is actually molded like pretty much.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
To my hand, it's so yep.

Speaker 10 (01:09:57):
So it's a rubber handle. It's got alarm long crank
arm one hundred and ten uh millimeters. And then the
next thing is that it level winds. So for us,
whenever we're jigging, we usually will use very light test
pound tests, even down to fifteen pound tests, and it
will cut into your finger while you're trying to level

(01:10:19):
the line onto.

Speaker 7 (01:10:20):
The school properly.

Speaker 10 (01:10:22):
So now you don't have to think about that while
you're jigging. As well as a lot of times you
will find yourself packed on one side, it's going to
go evenly across it not.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
So cool.

Speaker 10 (01:10:34):
So the next cool thing is it's got this trigger
where your finger fits perfectly right there. But not only that,
it's haulowed out to where your assist hook can hook
into there whenever you're not using uh the real So
it's it's by the way.

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
Props j grays that a cool zoom in on you. Yeah, yeah,
we can actually see it if you're watching the Facebook stream.
That looks so cool on camera, man, no doubt about that.

Speaker 7 (01:10:56):
So it's a lever drag.

Speaker 10 (01:10:57):
And you'll notice that we've pulled the lever over about
as far as we can that way while you're fighting
a fish, so you don't have to take your hand
off the handle.

Speaker 7 (01:11:05):
You could do micro adjustments with your thumb right there.

Speaker 4 (01:11:08):
Johnny, how much research and development to win into this this?

Speaker 10 (01:11:11):
Man?

Speaker 13 (01:11:11):
It was it was too much.

Speaker 7 (01:11:13):
It was too much, honestly, story it was.

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Yeah, yeah, it was, it was.

Speaker 10 (01:11:17):
It was exhausting for me and and I just wanted
this to be perfect. And I can tell you guys
that it retails for seven ninety nine.

Speaker 7 (01:11:26):
It is a high end pre sale. Currently right now
you can get.

Speaker 10 (01:11:30):

you will also once it becomes available, you can find
it at Captain Harry's or if you want to come
check it out, you can.

Speaker 7 (01:11:39):
Cut to our store and check it out as well.
That's great.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
So, yeah, it's just so great, Johnny. For sure. It
just looks good, feels good. It is that winding technique.
You get that self winding is just a great thing. Joe.
You're trying to get lied straight on your reel and
it comes from yeah, a bunch of the left side
of the right side. This keeps it perfectly level across.

Speaker 10 (01:11:58):
The tires exactly. You could even get like on other
reels without level wine. You'll find yourself in the spool
on it. But one last cool feature is that that's
not a clicker on the side, so and slow for jigging.
We don't use clickers. We're not putting live dait out.
What that does is if you get stuck on the
bottom in deep water, that is a spool lock. So
you flick that switch right there and it will actually

(01:12:21):
lock the spool and then you can pop your line.

Speaker 7 (01:12:24):
You get your line back.

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
That's great. That's they must have now, man, Yeah, for sure,
beautiful Johnny gat job.

Speaker 7 (01:12:30):
I'm so proud of it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):

Got a great friend Captain Vinnie Sacks and a y
being normal, that great fishing machine out there, Vinnie.

Speaker 13 (01:17:03):
Want to brother, what's happened on you guys?

Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
Your most laid back hello guy of all the castle guy,
you're just straight out of chill? Man it what's up? Guys?
We need that. When I see that, he settles us down,
doesn't he It calms me. He calls me down, He
brings all the stupid stuff I do. It just takes
it away from me.

Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
I don't know about that, Vinnie.

Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
So what's been happening on a YB normal? Brother? What's
what's been called this week? Man?

Speaker 13 (01:17:33):
Not too much? Not super busy right now. I'm sure
you guys know that. Tell you what. The dolphin fishing
has been super good. I'm gonna head out there today
and look for him. There's been like a nice edge
out there. We've had all this rain, so it's like
green water and just keep going till you find the
blue waters. Event.

Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Yeah, it's been raining like not everybody says raining every day,
every freaking day. It's like June. It's June. In September,
rain as much as September, you can call back. I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
I don't know, it just feels like like that June weather.

Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
So if anyone thinks, slow down, man, is that what
you do like boat maintenance and respoil your reels and
just tackle stuff? And how you guys spend your free
time when you're not doing that kind of thing fisher wise?

Speaker 13 (01:18:17):
Well, yeah, I always trying to always trying to keep
the boat floating, that's for sure. There's always something.

Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
Right now. Are you a handy guy? Do you like
we cannot work yourself or do you hire guys with that?

Speaker 39 (01:18:31):
No?

Speaker 13 (01:18:31):
I can do most of this stuff myself. If it
involves like getting in really deep, like taking off you know,
tons of gaskets and stuff, then I had to call somebody.
But standard issue stuff, I can handle it.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Very cool. I guess you said things are kind of
sketchy with this rain weather coming in, water coming in
gym said that we have a massive coral die off
and that water fresh waters is screwing things up big time.
How long does that actually last after the things get
back to normal, after that water has messed up to
the ocean water.

Speaker 13 (01:19:04):
I would say it's probably gonna be at least a
month or so when we get out of the rainy season.

Speaker 33 (01:19:09):
Here.

Speaker 13 (01:19:09):
But like I said that, that rain is makes the
fishing tough on the reef, but the dolphins fishing right
now is super good.

Speaker 8 (01:19:19):
You know, I'm surprised, Vinny, listen, I gotta give you props.

Speaker 38 (01:19:26):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
I lost Eric halfway through that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
For you to like he you must be paying attention.

Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
More than anybody. That's the stupidest question where I couldn't
put it. Where did you even get that? I was
going multiple places, Joey.

Speaker 3 (01:19:40):
Like, Vinnie's not the weather guy.

Speaker 2 (01:19:42):
What do you I screw up? Okay, I admit my
faut fall here. Oh my gosh, ipecially saying when the
nasty water goes to the ocean water, what does that
finally leave? Right? Vinnie's the guy to tell you that
was I was trying to ask him that. Okay, okay,
but Viny's always gonny.

Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
Let me give you, let me give you a goo question.
How's the Waho fishing? Any who out there?

Speaker 13 (01:20:04):
Here? You go back on track?

Speaker 14 (01:20:06):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
Yeah? Bring it back on track, big ahead, and take
a joe.

Speaker 13 (01:20:11):
There's there's been a few Wahoos. It seems like the
ones that the guys are getting are big. There's no
small ones. One of my buddies got one to seek,
like fifty five pounder out nice? Uh that blue that
blue water where that edge was, it is probably eating
them dolphin.

Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
Out there right nice man. Okay, that's called a unit, Joe, Yeah,
I know it's a unit.

Speaker 3 (01:20:34):
You say that every day?

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Now I do I do catch raise their soul from
the video? Oh boy? Okay, all right, Vinny, so bottom
fishing at all or not? There you go.

Speaker 13 (01:20:45):
Now we're staying away from that right now. Green water
tied at all?

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
Are you two guys having a lot of fun at
my spencer man or what? Dude? Okay, fine, Vinny, any
crappy out there, I apologize for they've lost it? Man? Hey,
I any pot.

Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
Man, like, where are you getting this from?

Speaker 14 (01:21:14):
Man?

Speaker 33 (01:21:15):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
The question back went empty? Man? Okay, anyway, man, Benny
to fish on your boat. Man's get back on real pointer,
he man, fish on the yb normal, How do we
do it? Brother man?

Speaker 13 (01:21:26):
Yeah, just give us a call direct nine five four five.

Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Sounds great. Well, Vinny, thanks so much man for sorry
Vinnie realing me back and I appreciate you covering my
buttle that one. But anyway, thank you.

Speaker 13 (01:21:39):
Vinny every week, brother, Alright, you guys, I have a.

Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Good one see you. But alright, well, I totally botch
that segment back. Maybe you have to re edit the
thing after the show.

Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
In the weather and then we're all the weather can
even re edit this, So you're done.

Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
I've done what I do is, I've stuck with it.
Here's our man with the wedding bells coming up soon
and god.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
This you want me to take over you?

Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
Joe jump on to Johnny'll do it, man, I'm totally
off point, man, come on, yeah, can I do it?
Please do? Joe?

Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Wow, wait, let me take the reins.

Speaker 2 (01:22:13):
All right, here we go.

Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
So Johnny stapill, how's it going?

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
Brother? That was great?

Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
Good morning, it's going good.

Speaker 33 (01:22:22):
You know. I uh, I was in dreamland when the
phone ring this morning. It's my day off. Happy to
happy to wake up and you know, get a good
report out for you guys.

Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
Thank you.

Speaker 33 (01:22:34):
We appreciate course.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
As we do. Thank you anyway, Johnny, So, well, what
you've been doing? What's been biting? We're you been hidding?

Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
Uh?

Speaker 33 (01:22:44):
Mullet run is pretty much consuming my free time. It's uh,
it's it's in full force. I'm sure you guys have
seen the videos of the big pods of mullet moving
down the beach. This is much like it's gonna be
a really good mullet run this year. Lots of tarpin, snook, jack,

(01:23:04):
gravel's all in that mix, and they're moving down the beach.
And you know, if you if you're looking for them,
you know, the best thing to do is you just
start driving, you know, and you can drive as far
as you want. We normally drive all the way to
like Vero Beach area, and then we start looking at
beach cams. We start looking at the beach. You know.

(01:23:27):
Sometimes if we're in a place where we can't get
real close to anything happening, we'll put the drone up actually,
and we'll.

Speaker 4 (01:23:36):
Really, man, Johnny, what are you looking for on the
beach cams? What are you looking for in those cams?

Speaker 33 (01:23:41):
People fish, mullet jumping? You know, the beach cams are
not great, I'll be completely honest, But if you see
a bunch of people fishing down down the beach, you know,
it gives you a little bit better of an idea
of where to go. But using a drone is a
really cool and very efficient way to just save you

(01:24:03):
a little bit of time. Yeah, and it'll help you
kind of pinpoint more of where the pods can be,
or it could just save you a lot of walking.
You know.

Speaker 8 (01:24:12):
I got to tell you, Johnny, that's really interesting. I
don't think I've ever heard of anyone using that tactic. Really,
I mean, I haven't heard of it.

Speaker 4 (01:24:20):
He's a drone every day.

Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
No, no, no, no, I'm saying for.

Speaker 8 (01:24:23):
The mullet run to look for these areas where he
sees where they're like all bundled up and people are
getting them and the birds are diving.

Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
I think that's that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
It's awesome. But I have a bigger question than that.
What he's calling him pods of mullet too.

Speaker 3 (01:24:37):
Well, because they are.

Speaker 2 (01:24:38):
I thought there were schools of mullet pods.

Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Johnny, this has been the whole show.

Speaker 4 (01:24:43):
I can't Johnny, how far how far are you setting
out that drone when you're when you're looking.

Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
The pods? Okay, but you have to take that away
from me, Okay, Geez.

Speaker 33 (01:24:54):
Mullet are called pods or you know, like, uh, there's
a couple of guys as it started this thing a
long time ago called free pod and it's when the
first couple little pods of mullet come down, but everybody
just calls them pods. I don't know why. But to
answer the other question, you know, if we're driving up

(01:25:15):
and we say we just stop in Jupiter randomly, or
we stop in Palm Beach on the way up, we
can put that drone up and fly basically like a
mile to two miles in each direction and basically see
if there's mullet pods or fish on the mullet. You know,
just by flying the drone for ten to fifteen minutes,

(01:25:37):
and it just saves you a lot of energy. When
you are fishing on the beach and you're walking and
you're following the pods down the beach is exhausting. And
the way that the beach is on like an angle.
It it takes a toll on your ankles when you're walking,
you know, fifteen to twenty thirty miles in a day,

(01:25:58):
which is very common than when you're fishing the malt run.

Speaker 14 (01:26:01):
Like.

Speaker 33 (01:26:01):
This is not a oh, hey, let's just go to
the beach and we'll snag a mullet, we'll throw it out,
catch tarpa, we'll go home. This is like a full day,
multi day affair to fish. It's it's for the most
hardcore fishermen ever. Usually the weather is terrible, it's usually
really rough when the fish are actually cooperating getting in

(01:26:24):
the water to try to grab a fish, you know,
and then you know, on the flip side of that,
you have the conservation side. Say you actually do go
out to the beach and you catch tarp and the
last thing you want to do to that fish is
drag it up on the beach and get sand all
up in its eyes and take a bunch of scales
off of a big fish. Yeah, you know, you want

(01:26:44):
to get in the water with it. And obviously in
the water are also sharks that are also kind of
feeding on these outer pods, So you know, you gotta
be you gotta be careful, you gotta be vigilant. I mean,
it's it's a lot of work. Luckily, if you have
good friend group like I do, sometimes they'll they'll give
you a little heads up like, hey, the POD's here,

(01:27:06):
there's a good pod here, whatever, And it's really a
teamwork makes the dream work kind of situation.

Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
Did Johnny say the word pod any more? Time? He
said this segment, L's it's twentieth times.

Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
The universe is punishing.

Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
Now you're punishing me because I called him a school
a moment every say pod. So obviously I'm definitely more
of a dumby than I thought. I'm gonna ask a
chat GPT when I'm here, we go.

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
You just can't chat.

Speaker 4 (01:27:33):
GPT is not always right either, So man, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Listen the last question for you, buddy boy, I got
one more too. Okay, are you ready for those wedding
bill blues coming up soon?

Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
I want to know if he's happy asking the same question.

Speaker 2 (01:27:45):
I want to know the wedding thing. Man, it's a
big deal.

Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
Okay, can I ask mine?

Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
Of course, you get first to answer my question, Johnny,
are you looking forward.

Speaker 36 (01:27:55):
To We.

Speaker 33 (01:27:57):
Are very excited for a wedding and uh isla morata
in November.

Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
What do you expect them to say? No, I'm not excited.

Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
I don't want to Yeah. Yeah, Actually we're a great point.
You're right, you're actually right, Like, what do you expect that?
I don't agree with the offer, but you're actually right
about that dumb ass question.

Speaker 8 (01:28:13):
I asked your questions, Johnny, any big snook that you
got during the run, I think.

Speaker 33 (01:28:21):
I sent you guys a picture last week we did
get really big snook. Yeah we Uh. I was actually
sick all week last week and basically most of this week,
so I haven't I haven't really had a chance to
really get out and get on the boat much. But uh,
you know you see the mall the you know, mullet

(01:28:42):
all through the canals here in pomp Ando, you know
the pot Well, when they get into when they get
into the canals, they kind of break away from todds,
I'll be completely honest, okay, and then they're just more
of like I'm all small little stretches of mullet storms
right exactly before.

Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
You go, Johnny, well, last question.

Speaker 33 (01:29:08):
We may get to do some snug fishing this weekends.

Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
I've used these micro jigs from Johnny Jigs before. You
are the peacock expert with those babies. Have you not
caught those on those Johnny jigs before?

Speaker 33 (01:29:21):
Yeah? I love Johnny Jiggs and Johnny himself is a
great guy. He's got a great little shop here in
Pompino Beach. And I've caught a bunch of bunch of
fish from tuna to basically crap crappies. You know specs
on on slow pitch jigs, so they're definitely effective. I
would highly recommend getting into the sport. You can get

(01:29:45):
inexpensive rod and you know, you can really have a good.

Speaker 2 (01:29:48):
Time with it.

Speaker 8 (01:29:50):
And Johnny, finally, if you're if you're heading out of
Pompino for snook like along the beach, whatever, let me
know because this is the first year. I haven't done
it yet and I need to get my one big
snook on the beach each every year.

Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
So I'll go with you.

Speaker 33 (01:30:02):
If I see the pods, I will give you a call,
my man, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
Will you say the word pods anymore in the show?

Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
Let me know if you see the pods, I appreciate it.

Speaker 33 (01:30:12):
I'll call you about the pods, all right.

Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
Thanks, Hey, Johnny, thank you about having a great week.

Speaker 2 (01:30:15):

Speaker 47 (01:35:27):
Well, you guys have been in a significant drought, so
you really need the rain. I know that it's unfortunate

Speaker 9 (01:37:12):
It was so weird.

Speaker 47 (01:37:12):
We had a cool August and then now we're hot again.
It's just so strange. Yeah, but it's it's we're not
getting RD every day. I guess that is the plus there.

Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
But that's a plus.

Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
You're you're the corn accomplished angler You've been fishing for.
You cast some great stuff over your years. You ever
tried jigs like a Johnny jigstyle jig or Johnny jigs
in particularly drop down wan and to caught a fish?

Speaker 47 (01:37:36):
What are you talking about? Like when you do the
reas like the reas.

Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
Like the jiggen thing dropped on a jig?

Speaker 4 (01:37:45):
Have you ever explained stuff?

Speaker 33 (01:37:46):
Have you ever?

Speaker 4 (01:37:48):
Have you ever danced a jig?

Speaker 2 (01:37:51):
Was you ever used a jig to catch a fish? Okay,
that's what I'm trying to say.

Speaker 47 (01:37:55):
I have I have used a jig to catch a fish?

Speaker 2 (01:37:59):
Yes, Joe, ha ha, She's used a jig to catch
a fish. Okay, it's the way I phrase things, Joe.
It's not been on point at all.

Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
Yeah, and today he's been trying to like sound smart.

Speaker 8 (01:38:13):
And explain things ain't happening, and it's just not coming out,
and like his brain is trying.

Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
I admit that readily. I have been a rough show.

Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
It's been quite an epic morning.

Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
Thanks for picking up all my mistakes, Joey. You're welcome, Jed,
have a lovely weekend, Thanks so much, and really, seriously,

Speaker 9 (01:38:51):
Cap quite an epic morning.

Speaker 4 (01:38:57):
Now we get to listen to the last thirty second
of this show.

Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
It's gonna turn your radio down.

Speaker 3 (01:39:03):
That's what I sound like.

Speaker 2 (01:39:04):
Yeah, that sound different, Skip, Come on, man, what's up buddy?

Speaker 16 (01:39:10):
Hey?

Speaker 15 (01:39:10):
I mean it's beautiful down here. I tell you, we've
had the same kind of weather, rain all all the time.
I was just a little now and then during the
day and enough to mess things up. I'm working in
my backyard right now, putting some stuff together on my
poets kind of body, some decking and way it screws
it up. But other than that, everything is just great
down here.

Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
Boys.

Speaker 15 (01:39:28):
It's a been nice and you know what, it might
be rain, But I take the rain over that ninety
five degree temperature you've head down here throughout the summer.
When you think about it.

Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
That's kind of a good point.

Speaker 12 (01:39:37):
Though.

Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
You're right, it's been bloody hot, bloody hot, Australian bloody
hot hot.

Speaker 15 (01:39:44):
Right, yeah, well hot, that's a good but that's a
good tell you. I'll tell you what. So it was
a fishing let's talk about that. Yeah, the p Black
the Bacon's tune. The showed up about the middle of
August and a little earlier than normal. And boy, I'll
tell you right now the right is on. You know,
we have the other boys uptown. They're up there in
the Lord of the u Pond beaches. They don't have

(01:40:06):
an area that they site for those things where they
actually have a place they have in mind in the morning.
But in the Almorada now on the upper Keys Kiluga
also boys are coming down to the Autumn or out
of Hump, and it's a destination in the morning when
you get up in the morning and say, well, I'm
going to go to the armorat Hump because the last
butt place fit on fire, the black ben Tuna.

Speaker 12 (01:40:24):
And not only that, not only.

Speaker 15 (01:40:25):
Football you call football you know at the football place,
but these are in the football size, the especially getting
their fifteen twenty pounds, and guys are showing me some
pictures of maybe even bigger. We caught nineteen and I'm
taking that tune. In nineteen sixty eight, a young lady
named Mary eating for Fort Byers Florida caught the world
the world's biggest blackf ever caught on the Armora or

(01:40:48):
in the Florida Keys, thirty nine pounds eight ounces and
they held up for a couple of years and somebody
beat it. But that was a big one.

Speaker 14 (01:40:55):
You know.

Speaker 15 (01:40:56):
I kept up to dinner last night. I remember Mary
eating for fort By as Florida to ktchen this sto
and that was beaten. Like everything gets beaten. But anyway,
that's just that's just kind of to that put out there. Yeah,
how about the mini you find a magical I was
talking about it all the time, the magical piece of
debris And now that that bree you can fill your box.
He's a nce fish heavy lift is meaning five to

(01:41:17):
seven pounds. Some fish a little heavy that you want
to put a stick of giffing and there's some of
that going on.

Speaker 25 (01:41:22):
You gotta find it.

Speaker 15 (01:41:23):
But once you find a magical piece of debris, there's
loaded loaded with money. Nice fish, very nice to catch.

Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
That's stamming, uh Stevens having some fine whatever. All right,
skipis if you're fishing whatever you can, man, it's great.
You do some yardwork as well. The keys is the
place I want to get down to and visit for

(01:41:52):
a couple of days at least I'm doing for a
keys time.

Speaker 48 (01:41:54):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
It's just the greatest place on the planet to be
still to travel. Uh skip if there's jigs in your
Johnny Jigs is our special guests Johnny Statham.

Speaker 15 (01:42:03):
Yeah, sure, I've done. I've used everything.

Speaker 2 (01:42:07):
I know, all sizes.

Speaker 15 (01:42:08):
I don't use the little ones you're talking about for
mango staff but never tried that, but we use all
the rest of them. You drop them on the seamounts.
And not only that, just recks like Wayne does. He
make some living with those things. And I'll tell you
what they are. Good good, But you get pods and
pods of fish with his uh jigs Johnny Jakes.

Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
Get pods and pods of fish.

Speaker 4 (01:42:28):
That yeah, that was the way cod.

Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
Yea pods, pods, p O d s.

Speaker 15 (01:42:37):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm at a hump or any
of the humps. Really, they work very effectively for the
amber jackson and the black fin tuna. Also not as
much on the blackfan, but on the amberjacks they work
real good, and we have a lot of fun. And
then I'll tell you what those things they get down
in a hurry and they're really flashing. You work them
hard enough. Now, some people the trick to that is
that John I tell you you got to work them.

(01:42:57):
You just can't just crank, just turn to handle. You
gotta really work him. There onesn't working real good. Those
are the guys are going to catch the fish. The
other one just botles off again. You gotta you gotta
move it. If you don't move him, then you might
not get any bites to The guy next door will
get the bites because he's really really working it radically,
you know, radically.

Speaker 2 (01:43:13):
Have that work good man?

Speaker 10 (01:43:15):
Yeah right, yeah, yeah for the tunas for sure, Tunas
the amber jack. You know, the pelegics they want they
want that jig moving and it's they want to chase it,
and they're they're you know, predators, and they're going to
go after it if you're moving it quickly or or
erradically through the water.

Speaker 14 (01:43:32):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
Very cool. Well, skip lists of how's your healing going
after following off that top of the you know it's.

Speaker 15 (01:43:40):
It's pop a whot, but we got a lot of
things going on on that thing coming up. We getting
right by a new boat. These crazy guys boat anyway. Yeah,
I tell you more about that some time.

Speaker 12 (01:43:49):
But no, I'm fine.

Speaker 15 (01:43:50):
I'm at the gym right now, two minutes to now
and beyond the machine that I'm working a little bit
on Saturday. Not too much that I do what I do,
but anyway, No, it's everything's go and find my I show.
They kicked me out of PET. They said, you don't
need this any more, go home and do your work.
So after too much of PET, I'm getting better. Guys,
Thank you very good.

Speaker 2 (01:44:08):
Keep it outright cool, all right, skip having a great weekend, man,
thanks for bringing us strong every Saturday. We love in
the show man, sir, Thanks scamp.

me that?

Speaker 3 (01:51:41):
About show today?

Speaker 4 (01:51:45):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:51:46):
Wow, man, I'm a douche. What else is new?

Speaker 21 (01:51:49):
Al r Stephen?

Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
What do you think of that? That's that's ruined my day?
Before we go here, something very important. We'll talk about it.
Donald Buch is happening today one day only matters get
up again? Yes, the douche super Thank you very much.
Somebody who donaven want to show. We've got a great
one day going on today and the summer sales event
at Barbecue happening and Envy and also in Tampa locally

(01:52:11):
and Browery got a barbecue from this great placement. It
looks like just banging great food out there. This Island Barbecue.
It's officially called Island G's Mobile Cuisine. Doing some Island
style ribs. This is just all hamburgers and hot dogs.
This is like ribs and mac and cheese, all kinds
of cool sides. Man. So yeah, that's free. There's no

(01:52:31):
charge for that, man. Okay, now here's the deal. Go
out there and you see a boat you like, right
that they have selected for you on the lot. They're
all gathered together. Make an offer on that boat. Man.
You can do some wheeling. So you're saying, today is today,
Today is the day to buy a boat and you
can actually wheel a deal and eat and those guys
are you know, boat sales are kind of slow at

(01:52:52):
the moment. I'm like that, so you have a chance
right now to really steal a boat at an unreal price.
And this is not just smoking mirror stuff. This is
a real, real, seriously one day duty.

Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
But just go and check it out, you know what
I mean, Bring the bring the family, and.

Speaker 2 (01:53:05):
Why what's going on by for the free barbecue? That's
where you're going from.

Speaker 4 (01:53:08):
Course, right, and I want to boat man.

Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
Yeah, this is continues that we've seen the current to
comment three bottle there. Yeah, anyway, that'll be done off
the show. So anyway, Johnny said, tom our friend of
Johnny Jigs, gonna wrap to sucker up and talking about
your real One more time man. It's been on the
show for about two hours now, One last time to
describe that bad boy man.

Speaker 7 (01:53:28):
So the PJAM.

Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Two five.

Speaker 10 (01:53:32):
So it's a pro jigger reel from Johnny Jigs you'll
see at the very top of our website. But I've
been fishing this for two years now and and we've
made many, many, many changes in between the first rendition
of this to get it to where it is now.
And I can tell you that the drag is buttersmooth.
It's thirty three pounds of drag, which is more than

(01:53:54):
you'll ever need. You can get approximately six hundred yards
of twenty pound tests on here, which means that I
fished this thing out in two thousand feet of water,
I'm sorry, fifteen hundred feet of water.

Speaker 7 (01:54:08):
And then as well as I've.

Speaker 10 (01:54:10):
Caught everything you can imagine under the sun on this reel,
including John Dory.

Speaker 3 (01:54:15):
And Japan School.

Speaker 10 (01:54:17):
Yeah, as well as you know, getting into the big
groupers in Louisiana.

Speaker 7 (01:54:21):
I'm tugging on big tunas with this.

Speaker 10 (01:54:23):
So it's something that we're super proud of at Johnny
Jiggs and we've all just really poured our heart into
this reel and tried to make the best jigging reel
on the market. And I feel like we've accomplished just that.

Speaker 8 (01:54:36):
And I gotta say the size, the way it fits,
and the backbone you could feel it, you know, like that,
the that heftiness of it right, Eric like it just
it just fits well. I like the design. It's sleek,
it's nice. I love what you have here in the middle.
You want to explain that real quick thirty seconds.

Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
Should know we don't have much.

Speaker 3 (01:54:59):
It's just level level wine levels.

Speaker 2 (01:55:03):
Thanks to Johnny, So thanks for going on show. Thank
you very much. Jeff Knie forty, thank you very much.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
