legendary fisherman Eric Brandon, an extreme angler Joe Hector, powered
by Mercury Marine.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Go boldly.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Hey, Hey, Hey, ho nipple dipp did Okay, it's the
most wonderful time to be here. To my right is
Joe Hector. At inside is Steve and their Sadie and
the dog. It's the happiest time to be here. Oh,

(00:50):
you're eddy was perfect, better than my singing. Was great, man.
We didn't plan that, by the way, never planned and
it sounded like it you never planned a show ever.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
That was good.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Thank you very much. Back in the night forty Jeff,
thanks you for flying the ship in a nice, warm,
cozy studio and we're out here bravety elements like we
do every time we do this program. Brain shine snow signing.
Weird man, I'm not finding it was blowing. That was
me okay. Anyway, Steve's a great crazy man. Thank you,
But it's for good morning.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
How you ran in this morning? Hey, Eric, you look
like Santa Claus just came out of the coopa.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Man. There's a little story behind us. We had an
ugly sweater contest at my job, and you won party
yesterday and I want hands down, man, put it out here.
I got balls everywhere. I guess it's got balls dripping off.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
You wore that.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I wore this.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
By the way, I heard you drop an F bomb
before the show went on, yelling at Joe that don't
touch his at your s What was that about?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Alright? Cigarettes? No it was not either. I don't say
that the audience.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
What are you embarrassed that you smoke?

Speaker 3 (01:54):
They aretes who can look the sleeves of what you
can lip the sleeves?

Speaker 6 (02:02):
Were those three zero fives or what were they?

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Get back on point, man, we have a fishing show
to talk about. To the audience watching got uncle Victor's
thanks very much for listening tonight. Verry Christmas, guys, Merry
Christmas to everybody. I sing a new camera to Steve All,
what's a high tech thing? Yeah, it's one of the drones.
It looks very high tech. I don't know we look
any better? Which one? Wait? Which one?

Speaker 6 (02:23):
Do we look at the one you normally look at?

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Okay, Well, Jimbos holding got lined one and I called
him last night. He gave me like a three second speech.
I'm going to a party. I'll talk to you in
the morning. Oh, he went to a party. What's a
holiday party? Really? I'm sure it's probably plenty of chilled budwiser.
There was an attendance.

Speaker 7 (02:38):
Yeah, and you guys like still party it up at
like sixty eight, seventy eighty eight.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Jimbo's I can't do that.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
I go to bed at like seven.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I know you do, but don't love him into my age. Okay,
he's will be insulted by that.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
Why he's younger, yes than you? Yes, well obviously, I
mean he looks way younger.

Speaker 8 (02:55):
Oh, I mean I didn't mean it like that. But
you want to bring him on her? Am I doing it?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Order? We Bill Man, you're just kind of a thing
last week. What did I do last Jimbo? You're doing
your your norm impression ever.

Speaker 8 (03:08):
Yeah, it's the most Jimbo time bar there is Jimbo,
Joey's and ericson Steven So.

Speaker 9 (03:21):
Have a good o, wonderful time, jimp, powerful partner, that
was good, powerful odor is everything.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Jimbo got sick at his party.

Speaker 10 (03:47):
There's one that.

Speaker 11 (03:51):
One thing that's worse than your opening song is Christmas music.
It was a double bad whammy.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Okay, shoving up his stocking, Steve, Oh go ahead, yeah, yeah, yeah, anyway,
I had want it light the form, but I'm not
going to sing that when I had my own little
thing going on.

Speaker 7 (04:08):
What do you think the people on the listening on
the radio feel about?

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Are they've gone off the road? Joe?

Speaker 5 (04:14):
There's like saying, you know what, people still smoke cracking
South Florida.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
This show extreme there, Steve. But anyway, Jimbo, you went
to a party last night, but you got it for
the show. Thank you very much, my friend. We did
Chad briefly. But what's up with the fishing world? Man?
It's been blowing this week and weird dude.

Speaker 11 (04:35):
It's actually the last few days have been pretty nice
and all of us, all the charter guys, were halfway
busy this week, which is kind of typical for the
holidays and through New Year's. So we had some decent
weather and some mediocre fishing out in the deep water,
especially off the Miami area. We've had a lot of

(04:56):
green water and zero current and we like to have
blue water in north current. But the fish are still
living out there. Who knows if they just weren't biting
as good as they should have. But offshore there's been
a few dolphin, not the big ones, but some schoolies,
a few kings in an occasional sail. So most of

(05:20):
the dolphin and the kings have been on the troll.
We're trolling the planers, catching a few kings, but the
guys live baiting were also getting a few bites. Most
of the guys live baiting or targeting sailfish and then
whatever else swims by. The dolphin or kingfish, bonita are
gonna bite as well. But I've been going up on

(05:43):
the reef, so we got basically one more week to
keep a grouper, and we've been catching some nice black
groupers trolling for them and a few big muttain snappers
trolling for them. So we've had some really good eating
fish and some nice catches. And we are fishing today.

(06:04):
So I didn't wake up just for this show here,
and I got home early from the Christmas party because
I had to wake up early and fish. You know,
the old days, I would have come straight from the
party to the boat, but that was a long time ago.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Wow, yeah was For.

Speaker 10 (06:24):
The record, I'm not.

Speaker 11 (06:27):
I'll toil about ten pounds, so nothing big. I'm sure
there have been some larger ones called, but that's just us.
And I was gonna say, for the record, I'm not
even close to being as old as Eric.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Wow he cut that that one.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
I didn't know they can hear that that early into.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
The because Jeff job very Wallen had him pot it
up and Eddie here, yep, careful, Joe, what you say
on the show?

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Okay, Well we were talking about your.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Hand anyway, disrespecting me because of my age.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Well, yeah, I was on Jimbo's side.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Actually, I know you were. Yeah, jim you go ahead, fish.

Speaker 11 (07:06):
Okay, So it looks like we should have a nice
day today. That little front passed through, and if you
walked outside, you know it's a little chillier out this morning.
So hopefully this will prok things up a little more
if the current starts moving, and which means it'll typically
be blue water. If we get some current, uh, the

(07:27):
sailfish action could pick up again and everything else, so uh,
you know, can't catch them on the couch, and we
don't know what the conditions are till we get out
there each morning. So we're gonna figure it out this morning.
Once again.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Oh yeah, very cool man. All right, well I like
the sailfish. He's catching some sales. Well, you get your
tournament coming up in January, man, that news. Okay.

Speaker 11 (07:52):
I like catching all of them. You know, whatever is
dumb enough to bite, I like to catch. I'm not
even opposed to a benita. Buy any meat also, really
because they we can turn those banitas in to some
kingfish and maybe a wah hoop cutting some strips out
of them. But you know, people pooh pooh banitas. But

(08:14):
when they're biting, all the other fish are typically biting,
so it's not a bad thing.

Speaker 8 (08:19):
No, you're absolutely right. Eric actually eats banitas, so it's
even good.

Speaker 11 (08:23):
Oh I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Yeah. Put that monkey under my nose one day and.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
It tastes like air. You remember that.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
I was. I was so high that morning. I give
no idea. Oh it's so good.

Speaker 12 (08:36):
I was.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
I was so stone and able to tasted great. Okay.
I had you.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
Put enough seasoning on something you can bury bad flavor?

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Thank you? I thought you were on my sack.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
He puts that on everything, bagel seasoning.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
It was bagel season a. Yeah, doused everything man, Yeah,
garbage will have a great day. Catch him up and
I'll leave me this happy happy note. Man. You're ready,
all right?

Speaker 11 (09:04):
Yeah? Not really?

Speaker 3 (09:05):

listen to that.

Speaker 3 (09:25):

gave me. Okay, pay back, okay, okay, phead, Hey but Jimbo, listen.
Merry Christmas, my friend.

Speaker 11 (09:35):

the listeners, and we'll talk to y'all next week.

Speaker 3 (09:40):

Speaker 6 (09:42):

Speaker 3 (09:44):

several work done over the last couple of months. I
don't know these ankle, wrists, shoulder, he has been all
beat up. Poor guy man. Yeah, I wish taka pay
a fund for Alan Zaremba. It's called the unn Fishing
Fund because he can't fish.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
He just needs a nice, warm hug that was not
gonna pay his sometimes that does a lot.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
That is not going to pay his bills.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Okay, you never know, man, he could change someone's life.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Let's say if he likes that gift show, shall we
can you hear me? Yeah? He's a line one May.

Speaker 26 (15:57):
Good morning, buddy, Hi, Alan, I'm here, I'm here, and
this stuff, uh you know, I still am looking for
the missus Z, the next missus Z, you know, and
of course I have a few things that she has
to qualify for and she's got to be rich, beautiful, accommodating.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
You must just take that inflator where you get blown
up and keep it inflated. Eric, Actually that was that
was a good one. You did well.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
You never know.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
I might surprise you, Eric, I might surprise you.

Speaker 12 (16:31):
Yet you you might be very surprised.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Okays, get fast your personal life. I'm talking about the fishing.
What's up with the bass lately? Man? I mean, where
my lake? They're just gone? Yeah, they disappeared. I agree.
I went with Mia they hauled bass man. Yeah, I
can't find them.

Speaker 27 (16:46):
Yeah, well I think it's there. They're adjusting to what's
been going on. Of course, it's just as it's sorry,
getting kind of toasted there for a couple of days.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
It's uh.

Speaker 27 (16:55):
I had to put an extra pair of socks on
this morning when I got up.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
It's like, this is crazy, this is cold. Hold out.

Speaker 27 (17:01):
It's just not my favorite time of weather. And it
looks like it's only a temporary one. But it's gonna
warm up for a little bit and it looks like
it's gonna get cold again. So so, uh, I mean
it is winter time, I guess, so we have to
accept this.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
What are you going to do well to the down
when the water gets chilled like this, olor, What do
they do? Man?

Speaker 27 (17:19):
Yeah, especially down here, they're you know, South Florida is
a tropical subtropical area and for the most part, it
stays pretty warm most of the time, and most winters
stay mild for us, and it has been that way
for since twenty ten. But in this one here, I'm
not saying it's being anything super frigid, because it's not.
But I unfortunately I did get out earlier this week

(17:42):
a little bit and and found some dead, dead peacocks
out on the alley, which which I wasn't too happy
to see. Uh, they're laying on the bottom, and so
there's even with what we've got going right now, it's
it's not that bad, but yet it does trim them up.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
You know.

Speaker 27 (18:01):
It's just this is kind of way nature is, and
it's any fish that's a little bit on the weaker
side is probably gonna get affected faster. And hopefully this
doesn't stay for too long. But you know, that's the
sad news.

Speaker 24 (18:11):
Now.

Speaker 27 (18:11):
The good news is water levels are still dropping out
in the Everglades and that that gives me a lot
of encouragement for what's gonna happen here over the next
couple of months. And it gets stupid crazy with the fishing.
If it drops just another foot or sell, it's gonna
get stupid crazy out there.

Speaker 12 (18:27):
It's not quite there yet though. Let's getting there, though.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
Do you think Alan that when we have these many
cold fronts, it's just it could be just as damaging
as like the long the really long ones, because it's
that fluctuation of temperature.

Speaker 27 (18:42):
Well, the fluctuation probably affects their habits more than anything else.
But no, look, it always it's always gonna weed out some.

Speaker 12 (18:49):
Of no matter what.

Speaker 27 (18:49):
Every year, the extreme areas the Everglades north, you know,
north up into Palm Beach, some of those areas will
get affected faster. But you know, there's a lot of
them here. Thank thankfully, we have a lot of them here.
They're going to survive it for the most part, and
we'll be okay. It's just it's just unfortunate to see.
I don't like to see any fish die for any reason.
As far as that goes.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
All right, all right, Begael, hey man, feel better, take
care of yourself and those knees healed up, get your
wrist healed up, shoulder as well, get out their fish
more and do what you do.

Speaker 27 (19:18):
Buddy boy, I'm I'm in the process of taking my
meds this morning, and and I do plan by the
first of the year I will be out in the
water on a regular basis. Again, I'll be a little
bit before that, but but just want people to know
that I'm available come after the first year. I do
have some bookings, but there's still plenty of openings and
I'm happy to get people out again.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Awesome, and may Santa Claus bring you better health and
full strength. Buddy. Okay, I almost forgot.

Speaker 12 (19:43):
I almost forgot.

Speaker 27 (19:45):
Guys, Police, Novedada, Plis novedad.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
And happy quantity also as well. Thank you, Okay, thank
you all.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Merry Christmas.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
But have a good Yeah, you all have a good
Christmas too.

Speaker 12 (19:57):
You two.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Buddy to the reward fleet, Joey, let's do it. I
think on a party boat, head boat to be kind
of nippy this morning, to be out there out of water.
I want Wayne hin has got these tough guys who
are going, man, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
That's what I like.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
Bring them halfway, Captain Wayne, how's a brother?

Speaker 12 (20:13):
Hey man, I'm good. Happy holidays, gentlemen, and you too.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
More.

Speaker 12 (20:17):
I'm good, man. I just had a shock this morning.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Man.

Speaker 12 (20:20):
I didn't realize I was out of coffee till I
got up and I said, oh my gosh, I had
to you the drive through. Yeah, yeah, they had They
had a newbie back there, and I drove right by
the little window or the microphone thing. I said, you
know what, there's nobody. I'm just to put my order.
And so the young body goes, I'm sorry, you got
to put order back there? I said, really, I said,
but I'm sitting right here. Now, let's check that. Though

(20:42):
this is one of those uh her name could have
been Karen, I think it said, I'm not sure what
her shirt said Karen. Anyway, so I said, well, can
I just put my order in here? She goes, no, no,
I'm sorry, she says, really, you're supposed to do it
back there. So I looked up. I said, well, there's
somebody up. There's somebody pulled up and I'm not kidding you, man.
So I said, somebody else pulls in. This is like

(21:04):
five oh five. I go, okay, so I'm sitting here
right now, I said to her, I said, but you're
gonna make me go around and get behind that person
because oh, she says, old, they're already in line. I said, okay,
I love this real quick way I made. So I
and that's it. So let's talk about fishing.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Anyway.

Speaker 12 (21:22):
I got my coffee.

Speaker 8 (21:24):
Thanks, you crazy, Wait, you gotta go. Yeah, but way's
got to go to my duck. And I show up
at four thirty eight, and I just swing past the
you know, the drive through thing, and I go right
to the window, and then the lady just opens it gives.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
In my coffee.

Speaker 12 (21:39):
You know, hey, Joe, you know what comment sense.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Sample in the US one Joe, huh, we.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Don't care really, Yeah, let's get back at the fishing.

Speaker 23 (21:48):
It's coffee.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
We don't care about coffee. Is everywhere about your personal things. Okay,
but that's your way.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
I'm giving them a tip like you would give away
the ship.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Right now.

Speaker 12 (21:58):
Let them talk, all right, guys, Well, okay, well, all right,
you know we've had this. We just by the way,
the temperatures in the fifties now, which I wasn't quite
ready for it. Yeah, it was kicking almost eighty. I
was pushing almost eighty the last few days. And we
saw this little front line was coming in. And as
I guess it was said earlier, you know, you get
these little quickie things rolled through. It doesn't really affect

(22:20):
the fish a ton because it takes, for one thing,
it takes water a lot longer to change temperatures. You know,
it doesn't happen like land. You know, that's right. You
know the old story about creating sea breezes. You know,
it's because the land heats up first of air rises
and it pulls air and from the ocean. That's what
a sea breeze is. So anyway, so for us right now,

(22:40):
we're starting to see the good influx of Spanish mac
or are starting to come in around the ind look
good and which, by the way, for other several things
I can bring up here. One of them is is
the shrimp have actually started to run a little bit
on the outgoing tide. So a lot of guys don't
want to get out in the ocean and get beat up,
especially as soon as that wind rolls around from the northeast.
You know that in the hide comes and yeah, so

(23:02):
checking out all around government cut, all back in around
American airlines arena, all back in there with your boat
while he needs a little light and a dip net.
I'm not even sure what the REGs are right now.
I'm about ready to go next to this coming weekend.
The title be right for me to try it, maybe,
But that's a pretty cool thing to do. Not only that,
all around the bridges you got a really good chance
to catch it. Snook, tarp and moonfish, ladyfish fishing up

(23:26):
current of any of the bridges you can anchor gun
spot lock on your machine.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
A moonfish?

Speaker 12 (23:32):
Serious, I look down.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
I looked at but not a moonfish.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Are you serious?

Speaker 12 (23:37):
Well, you know it's funny that serious. I will tell you.
I remember, you know, Beny, many years ago Bouncer Smith
and I and a few of the guys used to
get down to Indian Key Bridge and we'd spend a
day or two there and at night you would catch moonfish.
It was as big as a dinner plate. What great
eating fish.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
If you said, look down, I don't look down. It is,
but I'm not there like silver aroundish looking down I
hate this, guys. I hate to say this, but sometimes
my age just like shows. So some of the best vacant.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
Mark actually learned something today.

Speaker 12 (24:11):
Yeah, let me tell you some fishing around bridges night
is something not a lot of folks are doing, and
it's great and if the shrimper read it, you don't
have to buy shrimp, just go scoop up a bunch
man and just fish. So that's that's that's one thing
coming on. The other thing was if you if you
can bear it and get out there, that the sale
fishmen coming through pretty good off Miami. We've had several

(24:32):
trips in the past week since last week our best
trip I think Captain Steve had five and a half day.
That's off a party boat. But you know, you know,
I shoot, I've won billfish tournaments in party boats because
they don't know what kind of boat you're in. I've
told you that it doesn't matter. And we put up kites,
we fish flat lines. We try to have live bait
available every single trip we have. The guys come drop

(24:55):
off loads of filters and sailfish love filters. They love them,
and you know, they say elephants eat peanuts, you know,
but you got to you got to put them out there.
We bull fish sometimes half the rods on the boat
with a live big so you get all kinds of
cool options there. But yeah, I think four or five
was the best trip we had this week, and and
that that makes it really exciting for folks that have

(25:16):
never had that opportunity. Let's face it, if you want
to catch your first sailfish the easiest way, you don't
have to spend fifteen hundred bucks on a charter boat
or two thousand. You come out with us and you
can make a few trips in a row and you're
going to get it done. And that's that's the way
to do it. So we got all my crews really experienced,
and so that's a good plus. The little kingfish are

(25:36):
still around, which they are fun, but catch and release
it them and don't hurt them. You know, pretty fragile fish.
As I said before, you know, don't even don't touch them,
you know, just de hook them and drop them back
over the side when you know they're too small. So
the third thing, we are at the end of group
of season and right now when these friends roll through
like this, that water gets really crystal clear up in
shallow water. The further south you go the better. And

(25:59):
I wouldn't fish twenty two twenty five feet find any rocky.
It's easy to find any refline if you can't see it,
you know, running north and south, or it runs pretty
much parallel to the shore. You just turn on it
and you put out either deep diving plugs or you
can fish, actually a heavy lead in front of it,
or a rig value in front of it. But even

(26:21):
a shallow water up around Soldier's Key up there in
ten twelve feet you get big buttons just fishing double
hook value, way long way long value out. You put
out a little lead autumn the leaders and just bump
along a great great area for mutt snappers, black groupers.
You can catch on those big trollers and on the
plugs as well. So and you can do it down
the keys where you don't. You can be up in

(26:42):
Hawk's Channel actually and run by any of those heads there.
Because the cold of the water gets, the more of
those black group will move in shallow water. Every buddy
carry telling me that the biggest one he ever caught troll,
and that man was the legend on the sea boots.
I think it was like eighty something pounds. He said
it was a twelve feet of water. Can you imagine
the strike in twelve feet water of an eighty eight

(27:04):
pound black grooper or something?

Speaker 4 (27:05):
No, can you imagine that?

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Man?

Speaker 11 (27:09):
Yeah, no, you got no idea.

Speaker 12 (27:10):
You know, when I was getting my captain's license nineteen
seventy two or whatever it was, I used, get out
of the dock. He back in. I mean three o'clock
on the dot, if I'm not mistaken, And he'd have
a gentleman chartered him like four days a week, and
all they he liked to do was push buttons. The
boat left at seven, he tied it up at three.
You get there at three o'clock at the old dock,
you would see fifteen to thirty Black groupers dumped on

(27:33):
the dock every day, every day, every day, every day, trolling,
all trolling, all trolling. A lot of guys don't know
that because there wasn't look we didn't have youtubes, we
didn't have video cameras, so you didn't get to see this.
So you get to hear about it from most guys
like me and Bouncer and whoever's left.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
You know. Wow, that's why rock the clock man. But
curious Joe, he said, the shrimmer on it right? Yeah, absolutely?
How fast do they run? Is itbody ever clocked before?
Are you say?

Speaker 12 (28:00):
We get the night trip this week too. We also
had the night trip this week and Captain David at
night we've been doing some shallow water fishing at night
with getting a little bit of current there anywhere near
the twelve to twenty feet the stripper coming by the boat,
we just dip them up and fish them off the back.
So nightfish is starting to turn on as well.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Wait, you're great on the show man, folks. Listen to
what you guys say. They might actually hook up because
we just said a whole bunch of stuff. That was
just a great, great inflow.

Speaker 28 (28:29):
Man.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Let me go look out.

Speaker 12 (28:32):
I just I'm a scatter gun man.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Hard to stop you. Man.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
I got one question though, I know, I know.

Speaker 29 (28:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Wait, so if you're going to beach fish, what would
you do right now?

Speaker 3 (28:45):
That's that's what I do right now.

Speaker 12 (28:47):
I well, snow fishing, not on the beach now. They're
pushing up in shore. By the way, they're getting up
in by the dams. It's a really good time to fish.
Any of the spillways. But the problem is with all
the water dropping, if the water's flowing out, the spillways
got a way better chance of catching fish, especially this nook,
and they'll move up into the shallow stuff there.

Speaker 30 (29:04):
But you know, just for going for fun, you go.

Speaker 12 (29:06):
To a pier, any of the peers up doors from
Juno back, up and down, bluefish, mackerel, they can easily
all be good, especially the bluefish. The stupid little one
to two pound bluefish.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
What a flast they are.

Speaker 12 (29:18):
Yeah, I like stupid fish man.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
They just catch man, stupid fish. Thanks so much better.
Merry Christmas, my friend to you.

Speaker 12 (29:27):
Okay, the kids, anybody wants to bring your kids fishing

That's all we do in the show. We just bounce
for me. Up next, Shilling is freaking that's coming up
next to Jim Matthew will be Shilling is new freaking
loop spear thing. It's just a big one show hill
job here. Okay, I love it. Until will Be Shilling

(30:02):

Speaker 3 (34:28):
So okay, I could use a blanket. You did the
dress properly for that, Joe.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
You're just I didn't think it would be this cold.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
The thinness thing is just a freaking like a millimeter thick.

Speaker 6 (34:39):
You need a jacket, Joe.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Probably you man, I'll.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
Get you the jacket cap.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Back to you, my friends, Saudi fishing in your world
this last week or what?

Speaker 37 (34:47):
Oh my gosh, fishing with spectacular? I even sent you
a couple of pishures.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Just I gotta up here.

Speaker 37 (34:56):
There's a big lake. It's actually a reservoir for the
city Atlanta in the Sounding area, but it's Lake Lanier
and I've been fishing with a guy in there by
shilling Dougie young Blood ever since I got up here
thanks to a buddy of mine turned me on too.
Him came up and fish with me. But on Monday

(35:17):
we caught twenty five striped bass and a blue catfish.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Awesome.

Speaker 37 (35:24):
The tackle was real, real light, The fish were real nice.
They were Oh we had a couple that were two
or three pounds, but most of them were six to
eight pounds. I guess it was about the majority of them,
but really really good action. A lot of them on
live bed. They did manage to catch one on artificial

(35:44):
lure and had a few more bites on lures, but
really really a spectac the other day of fishing, so we.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Went out with a bang.

Speaker 37 (35:53):
Oh yeah, Joe, that's a Jersey fish.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
From long time, I did that all.

Speaker 8 (36:02):
I used to skip school in high school and take
my little, my little boat out and can strip show.
I used to go striper fision it. Man, it was great.
We used the eels.

Speaker 37 (36:13):
It was interesting. Well, the interesting things about this is
that these fish do not spawn in fresh water, So
every stripe basket we catch in this lake is put
there by the UH, the government powers that be that
control those hack.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
UH.

Speaker 37 (36:38):
They have a hatchery and they plant all the fish.
And our guide was telling us that they plant I
want to say, thirty five thousand to fifty thousand stripe
bass a year in this lake, and therefore the because
they don't spawn and because they were planted there, the

(37:00):
limits are ridiculous. You can keep thirteen striped bass under
twenty two inches plus two over twenty two inches per person,
and that's a lot of fish to harvest. But the
good news is they're absolutely delicious.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
So they use bait for stripers there.

Speaker 37 (37:20):
The primary bait is a blue back harring. It's it's
like a pilchard that you would say was a small pilchard.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Uh.

Speaker 37 (37:29):
Now, it's interesting enough this time where I've never had
it with. I fished with this guide for four years,
different times of the year. But this trip, believe it
or not, their bait was rainbow trout what the tackle
shops buying from the hatchery. The hattery sells them of

(37:50):
the tackle shop, tackle shop sells them to the fishermen,
and the fishermen sell them to the stripe bass. So
I was catching trophy rainbow trout after Thanksgiving, and I
was using rainbow trout for bait just before Christmas, and
I thought that was really really crazy.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Heghbrow trout, Grady. So it kind of reminds me you
guys using lobsters for kuberra, right, No, we using a
rainbow trout for stripers. Wow, man, it's just strange we're
using these edible things to catch it other fish.

Speaker 8 (38:21):
How big do those stripers get over there? Are they
the same as jersey? They get like forty pounds those?

Speaker 37 (38:27):
Unfortunately, Lake Lanier had a parasite issue. I guess it's
been about six seven years, maybe even ten years ago now,
but it wiped out the stripe bass in the lake.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Oh.

Speaker 37 (38:40):
They even had to stop uh planting them in the
lake until this parasite went away. Now the parasite's gone
and they're catching some stripe bass up to around twenty
five pounds okay, but.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
They will keep getting bigger every year.

Speaker 37 (38:58):
As time goes on. Before the parasites, they did have
forty pounds strike bath were pretty frequently caught in the lake.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
So nice, wellkay, something in our future have list great
reporters always, thanks for checking in one. It should show
very very merry Christmas for sure. Man. Yeah, may all
you're sat the dreams come true. My friend.

Speaker 37 (39:20):
I can't tell you how honored I was to have
Eric Brandon, my good old buddy of eighteen over eighteen
years now, sang my name and a Christmas song and
I was thrilled.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
How about you got, Joe?

Speaker 37 (39:33):
Very merry Christmas and we'll talk next week.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
You too, Merry Christmas, Captain, Thanks so much. Well, let's
go to the assassin of sleepy fish, shall we, Joe?
Let's do it the hot of a spirit. Put a
spear right through a fish in a grain hole. Bloop,
wrap it up with a red ball and give it
your best friend. There you go, bloop, book blook. That's

(39:57):
the last set of a last breath of a spiritfish. Joe.
That's a bull up before you. Okay, that's not a
diving sound. That's the last breath of a group of
brain hole up.

Speaker 30 (40:10):
Are you guys still blowing bubbles? Are you guys still
blowing bubbles? That's what I wanted. I hear you, buddy,
I hear you.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
What's going on? Buddy?

Speaker 30 (40:23):
Hey, Well, listen, last weekend and even the beginning of
the week was really ugly. And I mean we had
all that rain the other day. I mean terrrential rain
up this way, and uh but I was able to
get out on Thursday. You know, that wind shifted. We
had a little front come through. That was the rain,
and then uh man, it was absolutely gorgeous out there.

(40:44):
On Thursday. I was on uh uh Dixie Divers, the
Lady Go Diver, which is now out of the Saands
in Pompino at Hillsboro Inlet, and we went south. We
actually hit the Mercedes first looking for those big grouper Okay,
well we did. We didn't find any group of.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Great awesome, yes, but we didn't get up.

Speaker 30 (41:07):
We're happy there there's more, there's more lost. We did awesome, No, no, no,
no no. We did get a really really nice lionfish.
So that was kind of nice.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
That's okay, that's.

Speaker 30 (41:23):
That's okay.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
I got prejudice against.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
Ruining our reefs.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 30 (41:31):
Yeah, yeah, no, And this was a fatty. This was
a good one. So and then get back on the
boat and then we went we went over to this
to the second reef. Now that Mercedes is right on
the reef. Uh, it's a big wreck. A lot of
guys fishing. It was okay, I mean, there was fish there,
but we didn't see anything. Of course a big hawk fish,

(41:51):
but you know you can't take them now. So then
we go on over to the second rief and I
worked the eastern ridge like six sixty feet, really nice,
and I got my limital lobster. Uh probably caught as many.
Uh just short, I'm talking. You had to catch him.
You put the gauge on him and it just went
over there carapas. I was like, oh, I've got it.

(42:12):
But we I got six, uh, I think Jenny got
three and soon as he got three, so that was good.
And you know on the boat a guy did shoot
a tim got a nice red grouper, yeah, you know,
and and a mutton and a mutton. But the best listen, listen,

(42:34):
we we only have we only have like what a
week and a half, like a week left, a week
left the grouper's buddy and that's it. And then so
so so yesterday they sent me a picture they were
they were Cody was out with them. Cody's uh he
works there at Dixie Divers and he uh, great guy,

(42:55):
great guy. He jumps in on a on a rack
down that way and he shoot you ready for this one?
You're gonna love. You're gonna love a forty eight inch
fifty pound black grouper.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
No, why is a big sounding? Clapping hands is great?
Why are you playing clapping hands with that assassinated fish
for the freaking brain hole?

Speaker 4 (43:20):
Hey, Jim, where do you shoot him?

Speaker 30 (43:25):
It was deep this right to the brain hole. But yeah,
this this was a deep one.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
Uh.

Speaker 30 (43:30):
He jumped in on a rack that's out that way,
you know, and and off of Fort Lauda Dale. So
I can't give me the exact you know, you know
how it is, but it was it was a little deeper.
And uh, you know, recreational limits are one thirty two
and he was right about there.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
You gotta be careful you're gonna do. You got to
know what you do past past, get past it all gym.
Other than that, got a ready okay, thank you.

Speaker 30 (43:54):
Seventy eight degree water temperature very nice. We did have
thirty forty foot of his ability, and considering we had
all that rain, I was really lucky. Although uh, I
talked to guys that were up in Boyton. They had
absolutely gorgeous weather and gorgeous visibility, and that was because
they didn't get a lot of rain. We had all

(44:15):
that rain uh here locally in Pompino and Deerfield, and
you know it all gets stumped out into the reef.
So that's a testament. DN in Miami is probably good
down there for a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
It's good, buddy, plug your things you sell? Okay, what
do you want.

Speaker 10 (44:34):
To give it a plug?

Speaker 11 (44:37):
All right?

Speaker 30 (44:39):
Listen, Catching the Bug is still the best kept book
out there if you want to learn how to catch lobsters.
That's really their way to go. Catching the bug on
Amazon or chief dot net, Chief dot net or you know,
we do have We just got awarded the patent for
and this is a big news, big news that I'm
sharing with you guys, Patton for our chiefly Snare by

(45:02):
Lobster League. Google Chief Snare by Lobster League. That'll get you,
you know, well we can deliver it. How about that,
you know, excellent.

Speaker 3 (45:12):
Excellent driving for a grouper to shoot the head. I
want to tell you your chief snu your neck.

Speaker 30 (45:17):
Okay, I listen, I did have I did have a
buddy of mine. This is funny story that he caught
a red group. He caught a red grouper in a net,
in a net. He was using a net and Ticklestick
didn't have his spear gun. And this red grouper was
so stupid he literally looked in that around him and

(45:40):
caught him in the net. Unbelievable. And he has video,
he has video of it.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
Take up a position petition for him being biased to
call it red grouper stupid. Okay, yeah, they are a
whole signature list of people who don't like you, Jim. Okay, hey,
what Merry Christmas. Spare yourself this year? Spare your something
experience was okay, yeah, Merry Christmas, Jim, it was. It'll

(46:08):
be quick for sure, thank you, Jim. Alright, buddy, time
with the starbright bucket, Joe. Let's do it, and time
for the holiday season, shall we? Let's do it? Never
call it eight six six eight zero one zero nine
four zero call right now eight six six eight oh
one zero nine forty. Okay, when I find the question,

(46:28):
I'll ask you for you real quick. But here we go, Joe.
You're ready, yep, I'm ready. Eight six six eight oh

Speaker 21 (01:16:39):
You?

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
Man? There's some kind of a bird in distress or what? Uh?

Speaker 48 (01:16:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 12 (01:16:44):
I don't hear any squawking?

Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
All right, well must must must be Joe's uh sharing
you make a noise? I don't know what hell of this? Anyway?
What's happening in Broward County? Normal? The fish news there? Dude?

Speaker 6 (01:16:59):
Okay, So it's been.

Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
All right this week.

Speaker 24 (01:17:02):
Uh, kind of a little bit of a mix of everything.
I'm not gonna tell you it's a lot of everything.
But there's some decent mind. He's out there about twelve
to fifteen pounds, and let me see he mixed in
with some black fin tunas a few skip jacks, still
a few decent wahoos. The few wahoos that I did

(01:17:24):
see you get caught this week were caught while kite
fishing or live baiting for sailfish.

Speaker 30 (01:17:30):
And there's still some.

Speaker 24 (01:17:32):
You know, there's still quite a few sales around. So
you know, if you're out there, if you're out there
just fun.

Speaker 29 (01:17:39):
Fishing, you're not fishing a tournament or something.

Speaker 24 (01:17:41):
Like that, you might want to think about adding some
wire trace on your kite baits and let me see.
You know, it's been pretty good now, I tell you what.
There's a lot of a lot of ballet who's on
the reef right now? Oh yeah, uh just uh two
days ago, I saw a lot of cero mackerels skying

(01:18:03):
on those ballet who's in shallow water, like fifteen twenty
feet of water. So yeah, if you're in there and
you're catching ballet, who's and the bally who's won't.

Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
Come to the boat real good.

Speaker 24 (01:18:17):
It's probably because they're getting harassed by the cero mackerels.
So one way to take care of that is to
catch a ballet who put them on a little uh
what like number two wired treble hook with a stinger
on it, send them back there, and you take care
of that mackerel and you have a nice dinner for
you too.

Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
A dead mackerel, a dead valley who norma has to
be a live value who.

Speaker 24 (01:18:41):
Oh, I put definitely a live valet who back there.
I mean, if they're if they're out there, if what's happened.
What happens is is if you're anchored up or you're
on one of the anchor balls and you're chumming, and
the ballet who's are getting real nervous, and they and
they and they won't come to the boat. Yeah, chances
already getting run by jackson mackerel.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
And a lot of times you.

Speaker 10 (01:19:04):
Leave with the sky them.

Speaker 24 (01:19:05):
I mean when they sky, they'll come right out of
the water, just like a kingfish does. And so you
get you have a little twelve pounds spinner rod ready
to go with the wire trace and uh number uh
number two wire and a small trouble hook with a
stinger on it, and you catch a ballet who and
you set it back there live.

Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
And it won't take long, all right, bad man? Yeah? Yeah,
everything that's a bally who and that's the pilture. Yeah,
And those and the yeah they will.

Speaker 24 (01:19:37):
But if they're but if they're king on the values
you want to use a live valet who you'll be
surprised how picky they'll get. Uh And so that's you know,
that's uh and and I gotta tell you something. Those
ceral mackerels or they're underrated, they are very good eating fish.

Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
And there's a lot of them around right now.

Speaker 4 (01:19:55):
Hey, norm those CEO's they get they get bigger, don't
they are?

Speaker 8 (01:19:58):
They the ones that get bigger than the regular Spanish
mackerels get a little bit.

Speaker 24 (01:20:03):
Bigger than the Spanish mackerels. But this time of the year,
after the front, we do see a lot of Spanish mackerel,
but a Serra mackerel, I mean a good one from
around here is probably eight nine pounds.

Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
Okay, and nice fish man, Yeah.

Speaker 24 (01:20:17):
Yeah, oh yeah, they do get bigger though, I mean
I've seen them up to twelve thirteen pounds caught right here.

Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
Right, Hey, normal, I have a question where he man
is a captain? If we have still folks, are still
there were still there? Buddy? Yeah? Okay, yeah, yeah, we'll
say you get a load of fish man back to
the Are you a fan of full ating fish for
your clients? Is this something you like doing? I have
captains on the show who don't like doing it at all,
really like Robert. Captain Robert, he won't do it, he goes,

(01:20:45):
they won't be the Flato's fish. I tell her it's
a charge to do it. Well, I charge him exture
to flators they have fish, okay, and he gets it normally. Yeah.
Are you a fan of Filano's fish? Their normal why, buddy?

Speaker 25 (01:20:56):
Uh?

Speaker 24 (01:20:57):
Yeah, because it's well number one on it normally on
most charters, unless they're nickel and diming.

Speaker 6 (01:21:06):
You to death, he said, normally.

Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
I caught that, Yeah, and diming the death.

Speaker 24 (01:21:13):
That's included in the price.

Speaker 3 (01:21:15):
Of the charter. Yeah right, yeah, I know what one.
I don't mind. You know, you don't mind. You don't
mind the flag. I think we lost them. Maybe eighteen
mackerel and some bahi at the table. After a while,
your hang is a little stiff out their joy.

Speaker 4 (01:21:30):
Yeah, but I thought it was. I thought it was
included as well.

Speaker 3 (01:21:33):
Well. Some guys can charge extra for it, like Robert does.
It's his that's his gig man. His clients are getting
charged for filling fish whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:21:42):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:21:43):
I don't want to know whether Door was a fan
of it or not and maybe just passed it off
to his mate or something. I don't know, Man, I'm
just asking a random question.

Speaker 4 (01:21:49):
I don't think he's there. No, Yeah, I am Norm.
He just keep surprising me. Man, I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
Can he answer the day?

Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
He's gone again?

Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
He's not gone, He's there. I hear him. Can I
answer the question? Thank you? Normal? Answer the question? Please?
Thank you? Yes the answer?

Speaker 24 (01:22:08):
Yes, Merry Christmas?

Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Okay, Okay, there you go. We love this show has
been so weird since the very beginning. It's the cold
weather and I man, yeah, it's bizarre. Yeah, enormous. Happy
holding to your brother. Seriously, Man, you're such a joy
on the show. Merry Christmas. Norm, keep it upble to
fight a sky buddy? Let's go two hears Johnny? Shall
we let's do it here, Johnny. I would probably think

(01:22:33):
a smart man like Johnny still Bill is probably in
bed right now, bundled up doing a rap with us.

Speaker 4 (01:22:38):
In nice cozy bed with fire running in the background.

Speaker 3 (01:22:43):
Yeah, Johnny, good morning, buddy. Are you bundled up in
bed with us? Bear blanket on there? Man?

Speaker 49 (01:22:50):
You know I'm actually on the couch, and uh, a
nice cup of hot chocolate would be like really good
right now.

Speaker 3 (01:22:58):
I can't recall a couple hot chocolate joy. Have you
ever had that in well?

Speaker 4 (01:23:02):
I haven't had that in Marsha. Right, that's a good idea, Right,
I'm gonna do that in Jersey.

Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
Yeah, So you're not fishing today, Johnny. What have you
been doing this past week? Though?

Speaker 18 (01:23:12):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
What's been happening in your world here? Buddy?

Speaker 29 (01:23:15):
I've been fishing and it's been it's been tough.

Speaker 48 (01:23:17):
You know.

Speaker 29 (01:23:18):
This has probably been the longest streak of colder weather
that I can really remember in the last few years.

Speaker 49 (01:23:27):
Normally we get it for you know whatever, a couple
of days are really cold and then it goes back
to ninety degrees. But it really hasn't had a chance
to heat back up. And I actually am kind of
afraid with how cold it has gotten, and I don't
really know how long it's going to stick around, that
we may see some peacocks die during this cold weather,

(01:23:51):
you know season.

Speaker 3 (01:23:53):
Well, I don't know if you heard that.

Speaker 8 (01:23:54):
We had a couple of captains already before you say that,
they're they've been seeing dead peacock man.

Speaker 49 (01:24:00):
Yeah, crazy, Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. And
you know, and rightfully so, because the Everglades water temperature
last week was in the mid to low sixties, which
is already like borderline crisis mode, and.

Speaker 29 (01:24:19):
Lake Ida was in the mid to high sixties.

Speaker 49 (01:24:23):
But when you start getting in that, you know, mid
low sixties, you start getting real dangerous. And you know,
thankfully Lake Ida has got a lot of that city
heat surrounding it, so it stays a little bit warmer,
but man, the Everglades they got no city heat and
really no residual heat at all, so.

Speaker 29 (01:24:46):
You know it's gonna get colder a lot faster.

Speaker 11 (01:24:49):
Now.

Speaker 49 (01:24:50):
We did fish a few days. Chartering has just been slow.
I don't know if it's the season or if it's all.

Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Do the same thing. All the caps I'm talking to
have all said their bookies are way out, like not
existing right now.

Speaker 49 (01:25:04):
Weird, right, And so I have not been fishing as
much as I would like to. But it's really it's
not that it's not worth going.

Speaker 29 (01:25:15):
I'm just a little bit picky. But when we're only
going for four hours and.

Speaker 49 (01:25:19):
Catching fifteen fifteen peacocks, that's not really a good day
to me. I want my clients catching at least thirty.

Speaker 12 (01:25:28):
In four hours.

Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
So you know, we're not really.

Speaker 49 (01:25:33):
Seeing a whole lot of big numbers. People are people
that are coming out though. They're catching some fish, They're
catching peacocks, they're catching clown knifes, We're getting shots at snakeheads.
Cichlids are always around, even in the cold, and you know,
there's there is opportunity to go out. So if you're
listening and you do want to book a charter, you know,

(01:25:56):
holler at me. But it is cold and the fishing
is slow right now, so maybe you want to wait
till March.

Speaker 8 (01:26:02):
Here's the thing, like, what's what's concerning is if we're
already seeing and it's not even January yet, we're seeing
dead peacocks.

Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
I mean, we could be in for we could be
in for a brutal winter.

Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
Has enough really of a consistent cold front to really
kill these fish the water Still, I was out dried
last night tracking down my raccoons that were on my beach.
You're weird about that. And I walked into the water
trying to surround them and try to snag their ass,
and it wasn't really that cold. My leg did feel frigid.

Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
Will you leave them alone?

Speaker 6 (01:26:34):
You really think you're going to snag a raccoon?

Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
Are you actually? With the pelicon?

Speaker 6 (01:26:39):
In my mind?

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
Even worse with my light scope.

Speaker 6 (01:26:41):
Oh, it's like Gopher from Caddy Shack.

Speaker 3 (01:26:45):
I had my high powered gammo fun with a what's
wrong with thousand inches?

Speaker 6 (01:26:51):
One of those raccoons doing wrong?

Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
They're digging holes in my beach and crap it on
my freaking driveway. What it's gonna water? Johnny, he's the guest,
not me. Man, Thank you, Johnny, go ahead, buddy.

Speaker 6 (01:27:02):
But I was thinking Johnny doesn't go shooting raccoons.

Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
Yeah, I'll ask him. I guarantee he would might pop
it one. Nope, Yeah, I.

Speaker 49 (01:27:13):
Only shoot iguanas and uh and that and that's it
for me people. You know, I will say one thing
aside from shooting raccoons and iguanas is the hat going
back to the fishing a little bit. You know, every year,
for the last like what three years now in a row,

(01:27:35):
we have had peacocks die because it is colder.

Speaker 29 (01:27:40):
But everybody talks about global warming, but.

Speaker 49 (01:27:43):
It's it's every year it's colder and colder and colder,
and I'm honestly sick of it. I'm a Florida boy.
I want Florida weather. I don't want cold weather.

Speaker 5 (01:27:54):
Johnny, Johnny, you're not meeting the narrative. You got to
stop with that. Okay, I'm gonna cut you off.

Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
It's just because that's what that's what Joe bring dead
Biden freaks for the last four years. Okay, that's a
whole other story.

Speaker 4 (01:28:08):
Name is Joe too, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
Joey, that's what we call you joy from No, don't okay, no,
after the Magt score and I'm going back to Joe. Okay, anyway, Johnny,
my friend, listen, things warm up. I'm sure you get
your brand new sled out there.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
Wait, I got one more question.

Speaker 8 (01:28:22):
Of course you don't, Johnny, what about like snakeheads and
clown knife fish Because you always hear like, oh I
see dead peacocks, But I never hear people say, oh
I see a dead snakehead or a date dead clown.

Speaker 3 (01:28:35):
Why is that?

Speaker 29 (01:28:36):
You know you'll see those every once in a while.

Speaker 49 (01:28:39):
But clown knife fish, they're hanging on the bottom, they're
in the deepest water. They're good at kind of escaping
that colder water, and I think clown knife fish in
particular have a higher, you know, colder tolerance than peacocks do.
And peacocks I've been to their home in you know,
the Amazon, and that water temperature there is like eighty

(01:29:02):
five to ninety five degrees year round.

Speaker 29 (01:29:06):
They like it hot. The snakeheads.

Speaker 49 (01:29:09):
You hardly ever see a dead snakehead. I think kind
of the same thing they you know, they're from you know,
southeast China, and I think it probably has a similar
temperature to Florida, but I think.

Speaker 29 (01:29:21):
It gets a little bit colder there, so you know,
I think.

Speaker 49 (01:29:24):
That they're they're okay, maybe maybe down to fifty degree
water temperature for maybe a week or so, but anything
more than I think they're going.

Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
To be the out last question too, by the way, Sorry, okay,
go ahead, okay, So we have a big problem with
evasive species in the Everglades. Does it ever get cold
enough to kill a python out there? Johnny? As far
as you know, man, if they.

Speaker 49 (01:29:47):
Got cold enough to kill kill pythons, I think you
would see a huge amount of death of fish.

Speaker 29 (01:29:56):
And I'm not just talking again.

Speaker 3 (01:29:58):
That's a problem.

Speaker 49 (01:30:00):
Yeah, you know, maybe you know redfish. They're they're pretty
cold water tolerant.

Speaker 29 (01:30:05):
They go all the way up to you know, Maryland.

Speaker 49 (01:30:07):
But you know, you would see some some species that
cannot handle the cold, mostly snook.

Speaker 29 (01:30:14):
That would be everywhere. And we we had that happen
I think in what two thousand and I don't know,
like ten years ago.

Speaker 3 (01:30:24):
Yeah, horrible.

Speaker 29 (01:30:25):
Yeah, and it takes years for that to grow back
or come back, so.

Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
That everything, yeahlades terrible.

Speaker 29 (01:30:35):
Yeah, So hopefully we don't see that.

Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
But all right, well, Johnny, stay warm when your couch.
Make that chocolate. But that's a great idea. But hot
chocolate was the marshmallows, and that thing a great idea. Man.

Speaker 3 (01:37:55):
Okay, are you listen? Being a weathercaster that you are
and been doing this so great for soul, are you
a fan of cold weather or are you more of
a warm weather lady.

Speaker 52 (01:38:04):
I am more of a warm weather lady. When I
lived in Miami and people would be like, you missed seasons, I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:38:10):
Like, no, I don't miss no, no, man, no, no no.
Do you actually get snow there in Atlanta for the
kids to play in.

Speaker 52 (01:38:20):
It hasn't snowed here since Kaita's first Christmas, so that
was like six or seven years ago.

Speaker 3 (01:38:25):
Oh wow, wow, so we do.

Speaker 52 (01:38:28):
It usually snows every couple of years. It normally stops
snowing like thirty minutes north.

Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
Of where we lived, you know what I mean? Yeah,
I can see it being very I need Christmas Day
over Coop and Kate to wake up with mom and
dad and they walk out the front yard and make
it snow. Man, would it be cool?

Speaker 39 (01:38:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:38:47):
I haven't seen.

Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
I never done that with my children. We never saw
snow here. So yeah, they never had that.

Speaker 52 (01:38:52):
Kat's first Christmas. We were in Seattle visiting Christmas family
and it's we got dumped on with snow on Christmas
Day and we made a huge snow man.

Speaker 39 (01:39:03):
It was so magical that.

Speaker 52 (01:39:05):
I mean, it's one thing to be cold, but like,
give me some snow at least, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:39:10):
Right exactly? Well, Hey, Jen, how's your new writing career
coming along?

Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
Ah?

Speaker 52 (01:39:16):
Good, Yeah, I've been meeting with students and we've been
writing and it's been fun. I have one today that
I'm writing with who's out of Pennsylvania, and yeah, it's
it's been fun.

Speaker 4 (01:39:26):
You got to ask her about Destination Die's my nice question.

Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
Okay, I can't wait for the next season. The Destination
Dives coming on my Summary channel every Sunday morning, not Saturday,
by the ways, I said, for the last nine weeks
it's on Sundays. Jen, what is that gonna be back
in full force? She won't talk.

Speaker 52 (01:39:41):
Later this summer, like August or September. They signed us
on for officially for a new season.

Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
So that's yeah cool. And you're on the Weather Channel
with Hobby Chris, so I mean you got it all
gold on. How do you find tyro all this and
you're still building outdoor homes for your kids. I don't
know how you find ty for all this stuff. Man,
it's amazing you make it.

Speaker 1 (01:40:02):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
She is a multi chotid lady. Jenny. We don't talk
to you again. Seriously. Happy Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. J honest, gosh, yeah,
Merry Christmas. You guys. Thanks thanks again for being a
part of the family here. Jed. We really love you there.
You could be a bed and all bubbled up and
you got it for us to talk. You're the best.

Speaker 4 (01:40:22):
I love it.

Speaker 12 (01:40:23):
You guys are wonderful.

Speaker 39 (01:40:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:40:25):
Thanks again. Merry Christmas. Let's go to the chilly show it, Joey.
Let's do it be Oh she got a wallhoo this week.
Sent me a picture yesterday. By the way, she sent
me one too. Oh you got it to Spongebobe. Catherine
dep Dale, Good morning to you girl.

Speaker 48 (01:40:44):
You have bos have si gallon call this hell out
here on.

Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
The great patio. That's what is going on. Freezing fa god, it's.

Speaker 48 (01:40:52):
Definitely a Nippley conditioned in Key Largo as well. It's
it's extremely cold. We're sitting at fifty eight degrees and
it was like fifty I'm sitting at the dock getting
ready to do some maintenance on the boat and I got.

Speaker 4 (01:41:04):
My hat sea on, my hate and my truck on
and I'm freezing. But well, yeah, this is the cold front.

Speaker 12 (01:41:12):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:41:12):
I want some news about that Wahoo you showed me yesterday. Yeah,
like it was a Kingfisher wall who both are just
kicking Waho. Actually Wahoo.

Speaker 48 (01:41:20):
We talked to high speed trolling with a friend of
mine that we go out you know, what's to months,
you know, or whenever we can get out and in
a little twenty two foot center console and just put
the high feed out and go for it. And you
know it, we had we had some good luck, yes,
you know, a couple of days ago.

Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
So it was it was nice.

Speaker 48 (01:41:42):
Definitely some Wahoo steaks and and the bite's been pretty good,
you know, pro for you know, with this front coming through,
I think, you know, it's got to warm up just
a little bit. But the selfish action should be really
hot this week as well.

Speaker 3 (01:41:57):
I'm gonna go back something you just said, Joe, because
she's caught my ear. You said Wahoo steaks, right, absolutely, No,
when I catch wahoo. Deb most guys think I'm stupid.
They rather filly them. I'd rather steak them. I love
that center backbone where the meat comes off, and those
four quarters off, that spiral bone away.

Speaker 4 (01:42:14):
It's all kind of like the press bone, marrow, bone marrow.

Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
It's that bone, marrow, the mill whatever.

Speaker 39 (01:42:21):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:42:21):
No, it's deb explained a little steaking part of why
you do that?

Speaker 48 (01:42:26):
Yeah, absolutely, I think that processing fish is the most
important thing when you when you first get them into
the boat, make sure they have a really nice ice
bat that the cool the front of the wherever you
have your fish should be shaking like you know, a drink.
It should be liquidy, and that'll keep that fish really cold.
You have to have that fish cold to make steaks.

(01:42:49):
I do play them if the customer has to, but
I really like the flake. I really like the steaks
because I can put them directly on the grill, skin
down or and you know, baste them with butter, based
them with anything. Also, I can smoke them that way
and then make amazing fish tip about them. There's so
many ways you can cook wahoo, but to grill them

(01:43:10):
fresh off the fish. I'm talking about the fish was
swimming three hours ago. I'm eating it three hours later.
That is the best thing I've ever eaten in my life.

Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
That's steak of them. Joe. Yeah, Ever sneaked always.

Speaker 4 (01:43:21):
I That's all I did when I caught my wahoo.

Speaker 7 (01:43:23):
Unless you're a guy, no, I mean I am for
ever mostly everything else, but I would always steak the wahoo.

Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
Hey, Debonie, anybody showed up for business down of the
keys of our captains up? You're told me there they've
been deader than dead for just weeks and weeks, no bookings,
no nothing going on. Anybody showed up at buying a
trip or two or not.

Speaker 48 (01:43:42):
Unfortunately, it's still kind of the same around here. Even
the dive shops and storklers and scuba divers are suffering.
So it's it's it's all industry wide. But luckily I
got I got booked for three days after Christmas, so
that may save my months.

Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
But you know, I mean.

Speaker 48 (01:44:00):
November, I fished four days for the whole months, you know,
and it's it's hard to do that, and this time
of year usually I'm I'm fishing twenty to twenty four
days a month, so it's it's definitely taking a taking
a nosedive. But you know, hopefully maybe the weather will
get a little colder up there and the snowbirds will say,
you know what, I don't like this anymore and come

(01:44:22):
down here where it's nice and beautiful and paradies and
eighty degrees.

Speaker 3 (01:44:26):
Oh yeah, well I did hear a campaign I heard
a recent campaign slogan from the man. He said he's
going to be making the keys great again. Really, that's
a new thing. He really said what he said that? Yeah? Nice, yep, yep,
he's sub making the keys great again.

Speaker 48 (01:44:39):
So he's making the whole make everything great again.

Speaker 3 (01:44:42):
Yeah, there we go dead if we don't talk to
you this weekless to have a very very merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas, they said, up bringing you a new sled
or I don't know, a new fishing boat you want
to be on whatever, whatever your dreams are, you deserve
it because you're a great lady raider Jersey you know
stuff all geez, don't hextter with that crash out. Have
a merry Christmas. Ry Christmas, cap and deb All right.

Speaker 48 (01:45:04):

Speaker 4 (01:45:09):

Speaker 3 (01:45:12):

it like after CAP's done?

Speaker 21 (01:45:16):

Speaker 3 (01:45:16):

two minutes longer. Okay, so we'll do that after that.

Speaker 22 (01:50:50):
I mean, we have so many dives right off the
beach that.

Speaker 33 (01:50:53):
You can go with this thing.

Speaker 12 (01:50:54):
Oh yeah, so you want to test it out there,
Let's do it.

Speaker 22 (01:50:56):
Care always got to spit in the mask.

Speaker 12 (01:50:58):
Oh it's really cool.

Speaker 17 (01:51:01):
Oh it's cold in what sou and get this?

Speaker 51 (01:51:04):
It comes with some several things in this package should
make it so easy. It comes with on top of
the floating blue nomad. It has a pole already with
a dive flag attached to it, so you're not carrying
around like a lot of gear to go diving. You
can honestly fit everything in here and just bring your
mask and fins.

Speaker 55 (01:51:23):
I'm pretty sure you could put this in one of
those cubbies at the airport, you know, like on the plane.
So it looks like it fits as a travel case
as well.

Speaker 51 (01:51:31):
It is travel friendly. TSA will not be pulling you
over for this guy, So just imagine this.

Speaker 48 (01:51:36):
All right, let's talk through it.

Speaker 51 (01:51:37):
I'm patty certified, thank god, Vin, since I was thirteen
years old, thanks to the parents. But it's really pricey
to get certified by your gear and everything. This is
something that you don't need to be scuba dive certified for.
And when it comes to how much you're gonna be
spending on your certification, all the gear and everything, this
is gonna be a better offer for.

Speaker 55 (01:51:56):
You one hundred percent. I'd rather learn with this than
have to go through a bunch of money courses. You know,
at least I can see if.

Speaker 23 (01:52:03):
I like donning with this exactly.

Speaker 51 (01:52:05):
This is going to be your go to present right now.

Speaker 23 (01:52:08):

Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
What a cool gift idea, Joe, Oh yeah, the tank
she got. This thing's battery powered by the way, Yeah,
sits on top of the water, goes behind you, pull
along thirty feet down you get lobster thirty feet of water.
Her in South Florida. Of course, you know, I go
through off the beach, maybe go out and do some
uh I don't know salvage diving.

Speaker 5 (01:52:42):
Maybe have a By the way, we have to let
everybody know that if you get this new blue three nomad,
the product that she just showcased, and you get it
at Nautical Ventures before the end of the year, you
actually get a free spare battery with it, so it
gives you more time under the water. Know, yeah, that's
that wasn't in the video here, but that is she

(01:53:02):

Ventures or go to people for fun on the water. Yes, Joe,
