What gives you the most fulfillment because I feel like
you've gone through seasons of doing multiple things.

Man, it's it's all everything. I'm blessed. Yeah, I'm blessed.
You know, the music, having having songs on the radio
and being able to continue to do what I do
for a living and have you guys support is very fulfilling.
And then also to be able to open a restaurant
and it take off and you walk in just random

and it's packed, every seats full, and you get all
your reviews and it's just like, that's fulfilling.

I don't think one is better than the other, but
it's just man, I'm I'm I must be I must
be living good man.

Yeah, when you have when you're a faith driven person,
which I guess we all three are that whatever you
pour out and you put your heart in and you
and you give.

God the glory that guy they have step back.

And I think that that's what's so special about songwriting
and putting music on the airways, because music, what people went.

Into their ear and into their soul is important.

And so I was talking to him the other day,
I'm like, music, it takes you back to a certain time,
And so how do you feel about writing music that
will go on for generation?

And it's like your songs and how it impacts people.

You know, certain songs you write that that will come
and go pretty quick. They're flashes in the pan if
you will. But you know, sometimes you get sent a
song you know from wherever, and you know outskirts of
Heaven is that song for me? And so whenever you
see what that song does for people, that validates what
I get to do for a living. And I and

that's man, I wouldn't I love my job?

You see that that song have two lifespans too.

Yes, when Warren Insiders decided to record because he covered
it in a stairwell and it woah blew up on tiktoking. Yeah,
So then he reached out to me, It's like, hey, man,
the fans are loving it. Can can I record the
whole thing? I said, shoot, yeah, I said can I
Can I produce it? And He's like yeah. So I
went into the studio and played guitar and produced it

and I sang on it with him, and uh so
that was pretty cool. So yeah, to have for that song.
And that's what I told her, And I said, man,
I don't I don't care who sings it. I just
this song needs to be heard. Yeah, because his audience
is way different than mine. Yeah, and I was. I
was proud of that. I still got the demo on
my phone. You said, yeah, yeah, I still listen to it.

And then the last thing, I'll say, just business idea,
because I think that you would kill it. I think
that you need to do a tour is it's an
acoustic tour, but it masquerades as a comedy tour because
I feel like you you.

grandfather is eighty nine years old. I share the same
first name as him, Joseph, that's my middle name. And

is with my eighty nine year old grandfather.

Birthday is coming up. It is on Thanksgiving, big birthday.

So I will be with my family in Missouri and
I'll be with my grandparents. I'm not much of a
party er. I don't drink, but good for you. My
grandfather is eighty nine years old. I share the same
first name as him, Joseph, that's my middle name. And
if he offers to have a glass of whiskey with him,
that will be the time you will see me drink
is with my eighty nine year old grandfather.

and that was such a special moment and it made

never thought of it.

So Ashley Gorley's one of the co writers, Bill Luther
and Wade Kirby and they've all written smashed songs.

He just celebrated his eightieth great and of course eighty one.
He'll have another cut before we we can have a
number one before we get done with this interview. Yeah,
super talented guy. I didn't write it, but I forever
wished I did. But when I first heard that, I
was on a different label in twenty eleven, I cut that.

For a record that never came out.

And so when I started working with Keith Stiegah, he said, buddy,
what's a song that you never got to put out
that really hits you? And so it was Pray for God.
And my little girl was little at the time. She's
a junior now, she'll be seventeen in December.

So I took her in the studio when I cut
that for the very first time.
Speaker 9 (11:28):
Wow, and she loves that song and I love that song,
and I thought.

Yes, that if a child can believe in something they've
never seen, that there is hope for all humanity. Hey,

you know, because it's the only way we're getting.
