Speaker 1 (00:00):
Craig Campbell in the house.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
I've been very fortunate to build some relationships within the business,
and I can genuinely say Craig Campbell is one of
my favorite human beings, not only in country music, just ever.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
And so it's so good to see you.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Make you look great.
Speaker 4 (00:16):
Let me let me step in. I knew that I
was going I love this guy beyond music and beyond
radio when he invited me to church.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Yeah, Oh I love that. That was a big deal.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Yeah, that is a big deal.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
I would say his humor. I don't know if you
this is one of the funniest humans. A record deal,
a record.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Deal you get you signed him to a record deal
and he can't sing?
Speaker 5 (00:40):
What?
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Oh you wouldn't believe the money we threw it. This
is all right?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (00:45):
Crazy? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
So my first question was, you're a creator in several
different mediums. Also run a coffee company. You still run
off We just opened our second location.
Speaker 7 (00:55):
Oh man, what is what?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
What gives you the most fulfillment because I feel like
you've gone through seasons of doing multiple things.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Man, it's it's all everything. I'm blessed. Yeah, I'm blessed.
You know, the music, having having songs on the radio
and being able to continue to do what I do
for a living and have you guys support is very fulfilling.
And then also to be able to open a restaurant
and it take off and you walk in just random
(01:21):
and it's packed, every seats full, and you get all
your reviews and it's just like, that's fulfilling.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
I don't think one is better than the other, but
it's just man, I'm I'm I must be I must
be living good man.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
Yeah, when you have when you're a faith driven person,
which I guess we all three are that whatever you
pour out and you put your heart in and you
and you give.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
God the glory that guy they have step back.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
And I think that that's what's so special about songwriting
and putting music on the airways, because music, what people went.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Into their ear and into their soul is important.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
And so I was talking to him the other day,
I'm like, music, it takes you back to a certain time,
And so how do you feel about writing music that
will go on for generation?
Speaker 3 (02:00):
And it's like your songs and how it impacts people.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
You know, certain songs you write that that will come
and go pretty quick. They're flashes in the pan if
you will. But you know, sometimes you get sent a
song you know from wherever, and you know outskirts of
Heaven is that song for me? And so whenever you
see what that song does for people, that validates what
I get to do for a living. And I and
(02:23):
that's man, I wouldn't I love my job?
Speaker 1 (02:26):
You see that that song have two lifespans too.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
That's incredible.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I mean, I'm not shocked by it. You see that
sometimes in music. But it was great that.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
That one hit to you.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Yes, when Warren Insiders decided to record because he covered
it in a stairwell and it woah blew up on tiktoking. Yeah,
So then he reached out to me, It's like, hey, man,
the fans are loving it. Can can I record the
whole thing? I said, shoot, yeah, I said can I
Can I produce it? And He's like yeah. So I
went into the studio and played guitar and produced it
(02:54):
and I sang on it with him, and uh so
that was pretty cool. So yeah, to have for that song.
And that's what I told her, And I said, man,
I don't I don't care who sings it. I just
this song needs to be heard. Yeah, because his audience
is way different than mine. Yeah, and I was. I
was proud of that. I still got the demo on
my phone. You said, yeah, yeah, I still listen to it.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
And then the last thing, I'll say, just business idea,
because I think that you would kill it. I think
that you need to do a tour is it's an
acoustic tour, but it masquerades as a comedy tour because
I feel like you you.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Walk those those worlds really.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Well comedy, you can stand up.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Well.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Actually, when I do my acoustic shows, it's I do
weave in.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Throughout the show. I gotta fly out for it because it's.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Not you know, I don't have enough big, big hits
to play, so I have to kind of set songs
up a certain way, and they're big in my and
so my songs have punchlines.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
So that Craig Campbell, please, by all means check this
guy out. One of the just the most amazing people ever.
Awesome man, goodness, my homie Jets. I'm flabbergasted right now.
Speaker 8 (03:59):
I can't believe that I have known you for five years,
four years his house.
Speaker 7 (04:06):
I've been in his house. He wasn't there though he
wasn't there.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
I was kicked out. They told me I couldn't be
on set. A big artist was coming through to you nationally.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
I am known for being a bit of a diva.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
They were like, Graham, you can't be here, but yeah,
film a music video at my house.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
Derek and Drew Riker.
Speaker 8 (04:22):
They found this amazing place and we were like sure
and it was your place, and we filmed the music
video there.
Speaker 7 (04:28):
Crazy, I can't believe this.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
This is so wild, like trash because I'm listening to
you over there and say I wish because you're an
actor now you're a country star, and you're like I
really wanted to be a basketball player, and I'm like, great,
Graham is a basketball star, so I.
Speaker 7 (04:44):
Am terrible.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Really.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I did play ball overseas and in college.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
That's see.
Speaker 8 (04:48):
My dream was to go to Belmont, which I do
and play basketball there.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I wanted to go to Belmont as well.
Speaker 8 (04:54):
I realized two things. One you can't be five foot
eight like me, and two the UXI bo because it
was like five It's true you have to be good
at basketball and I had neither one of those. So
I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
I think God closed that door for you for a reason, because.
Speaker 7 (05:10):
Yeah, so your.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Birthday is coming up. It is on Thanksgiving, big birthday.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
How are we celebrating.
Speaker 8 (05:15):
So I will be with my family in Missouri and
I'll be with my grandparents. I'm not much of a
party er. I don't drink, but good for you. My
grandfather is eighty nine years old. I share the same
first name as him, Joseph, that's my middle name. And
if he offers to have a glass of whiskey with him,
that will be the time you will see me drink
is with my eighty nine year old grandfather.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Nip it, don't shoot it.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah the hard way.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, your and grandfather before he passed, every Christmas Eve,
we'd have one glass of whiskey together.
Speaker 7 (05:42):
That is so cool.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yeah, those are tears and we would we'd have it together. Suspictible.
Speaker 7 (05:46):
That's a moment that I want to have.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
It's so good.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
This is crazy.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
I'm so amazed right now.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
I don't know how you performed so early in the
morning and your voice didn't even crack, and you're like
the only artist that was like, Hey, I'm going to
do another unreleased song.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
I got another song. Do you write them all? Yourself.
Speaker 7 (06:02):
I co write all of them, so I don't I
can't take all the credit for it.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
It's a lot of work.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
It's a lot of.
Speaker 8 (06:06):
Writing, but I'm I love to do it. I mean,
writing is my favorite thing. I won't be able to
tell this.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I would imagine your call times, like in the middle
of the night for certain things, so you don't really
have a clock. Yeah, Like, whatever work happens, it happened exactly.
And I'm a morning person as is. My alarm goes
off at five am, whether I want it to or not.
So I was I was good. I was gonna be up.
I might as well be here playing.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Music for you.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
I knew you were an actor, but I literally lost
my mind when because I have kids and I did
not know you were a voice of the Bubble Guppies.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
And I'm like, is that crazy?
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Wait to call my kids when they get out of
school and be like, oh my god, I met the
voice of the Bubble Guppy. It's a little wild, isn't it.
I love watching the parents get get so excited over that.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
I peaked out.
Speaker 7 (06:44):
So it was a good time.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Thank you so much for stopping bye, And I'm so
glad y'all.
Speaker 7 (06:47):
Got to meet so crazy how many years later?
Speaker 6 (06:51):
It's great.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
We'll have to watch this video now. Yeah, for sure,
we'll get it up there. And oh oh so I
guess my house.
Speaker 8 (06:58):
It's called Falling Too. That's the name of the song.
Go watch the music video. It's at his place.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, it's crazy collaboration.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
It was a cloud, yes, furniture did you put yeah?
Speaker 8 (07:07):
Oh yeah, everything, Bro. I was laying on your bed
at the start of the song. Wait, that sounds terrible,
that is not all right.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Did you have a dog there?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yes, your dog was there.
Speaker 7 (07:20):
I don't think he was in the video though, but
he was there.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
I've seen some behind the scenes of him running in
the background.
Speaker 7 (07:25):
Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Amazing.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Graham didn't even take his dog.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
Crazy.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
No, they said you got to leave the dog. I
was like, okay, you gotta leave the dog. Let's just
follow jets instructions.
Speaker 6 (07:34):
There we go.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Thank you, Jet, You're awesome.
Speaker 7 (07:37):
It's so good to see you. Seriously, that was wild.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Ninety six point the cat.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
I learned something new about my partner Grandma on every day.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
It's probably not a good thing.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Joe's so random.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
We're out here in Nashville and artists keep coming by,
and a one artist this image jet. He was on Ozar.
He was an actor since he was three, and now
he's the country star.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
And he comes up and he hugs Graham and he's like,
I can't believe this the first time.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
I'm seeing you face to face, and I'm confused, and
he's like, he shot a music video in Graham's house.
Has never met Griham's house in Los Angeles.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
And Los Angeles. Ye, we'd exchanged messages about music years
and years ago when he decided to not leave acting
but move into country music, and so I gave some advice.
I connected him with certain people in Nashville, and then
I guess he shot a music video at my house.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
So I'm asking all the questions everybody really wants to know, Graham.
Did they move your furniture out because you're a bachelor,
He's a no.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
The use.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, they just come as this and they're like, oh,
this is great, and they told me don't be here
from this time to this time, and they filmed all day.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Kevin was there.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Whych They guess who he left behind? Kevin is dog.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
My dog was in the video.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Behind the scenes, and Jah was like, I even laid
on your bed, and then he was.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Like hold up, yeah, hold up, hold up, yeah, it's
it's very random. I mean, Russell Dickerson has filmed from
things at the house.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Never knew.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
There's a few people. I think Brett Young filmed some
stuff at the house a couple of years ago. Like
there's it's this has been random stuff.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Oh yeah, well there you learned something new about Grandba
and today.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
It's so wild.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Ninety six point nine to Cat Bradley Gaskin, Hey hey,
can we can we get you a water or anything?
Speaker 1 (09:09):
We just said we just heard you perform, and I
feel like you were in there whaling.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
I was good, was I was feeling good. I love anytime.
Speaker 9 (09:18):
So I've been in Missouri deer hunting, okay, and so
they said, hey man, you're gonna go do this thing,
and I was like, okay, I'm gonna leave my trip.
So I went from deer hunting and having a great
time to come and sing country music.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
So I was trying to feel it.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Today I just got about it.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
There were like you were seeing so Sean. Everybody thought
it was you strumming the guitar. That broke the guitar string.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
It was those.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Vocals, man, Whenever your runs and then the last song
you did, I'm like the whole church.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Wall started shaking and that worked that diaphragm I was.
Speaker 6 (09:48):
I was just feeling it today.
Speaker 9 (09:50):
I love singing country music and I love getting to
sing for folks like y'all. Yeah, I mean there was
a day that, like I said, I always wanted to
know what it was like to perform and play for people.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
And your family growing up, they always go, oh boy,
you're good. What do they know?
Speaker 2 (10:02):
They don't know for eating when it comes to you, obviously,
Now not everyone's family says that.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Really yeah, yeah, no, no you need the questions.
Speaker 9 (10:10):
But no, anytime I get to travel and come sing
and and this is.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
My favorite city, you know.
Speaker 9 (10:15):
And I love singing country music and this is what
I do and I love being a part of it,
and I love hanging out with you all.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
As a mom.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
When you were talking about your daughter and you were
singing the song and you were talking about prayers, and
I pray with my kids every night, seven and eleven,
and that was such a special moment and it made
me think of my own kids. Whenever You're like, well,
let's pray for God, like God's doing this for everybody else.
I'm recording it, I'm sending it to people because I
never thought of it.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Was that your daughter? Did she really say that?
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (10:43):
So the songwriter, I wish I had written it.
Speaker 9 (10:45):
So Ashley Gorley's one of the co writers, Bill Luther
and Wade Kirby and they've all written smashed songs.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
And a few Yeah. Yeah, I think he's eighty.
Speaker 9 (10:55):
He just celebrated his eightieth great and of course eighty one.
He'll have another cut before we we can have a
number one before we get done with this interview. Yeah,
super talented guy. I didn't write it, but I forever
wished I did. But when I first heard that, I
was on a different label in twenty eleven, I cut that.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
For a record that never came out.
Speaker 10 (11:13):
Wow.
Speaker 9 (11:13):
And so when I started working with Keith Stiegah, he said, buddy,
what's a song that you never got to put out
that really hits you? And so it was Pray for God.
And my little girl was little at the time. She's
a junior now, she'll be seventeen in December.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Amazing.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
So I took her in the studio when I cut
that for the very first time.
Speaker 9 (11:28):
Wow, and she loves that song and I love that song,
and I thought.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
What a message to the whole world.
Speaker 9 (11:34):
Yes, that if a child can believe in something they've
never seen, that there is hope for all humanity. Hey,
if a child can believe in it, so can you. Yeah,
you know, because it's the only way we're getting.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
Out of this world.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Brother, it's one of the highlights of our day. I mean,
it's been really cool, but that was awesome. So thank
you for We really appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Thanks like you held that lastly? You held that for
Is that twenty seconds you hold that now? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
I don't know, I have it. Listen.
Speaker 9 (12:00):
I had to overcompensate because I broke my guitar and
they thought I was dancing and I had to just
do something.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
Oh man, you I felt like it was like twenty
thirty seconds. I'm like, is he gonna run out of auction?
Speaker 6 (12:11):
Yeah? Thank y'all, thank you for your Thank you so much. Yes,
thank you.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Rice is in the building.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Oh that's my god. All right, So the last time
we saw you, I didn't get invited.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
I'm not in the cool club, but Grandpa and got
invited to ride on a personal blame, even though.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Over ten years in my defense, to be in a
music video.
Speaker 5 (12:31):
Well, and he comes back and he says, oh my gosh,
you will not believe what I did during this music video.
I'm like, what how bad could it be? Did you
get hit with a beer bottle?
Speaker 6 (12:42):
I did? And it was great.
Speaker 10 (12:46):
It wasn't even supposed to be like the music video.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, it was supposed to be just content.
Speaker 10 (12:53):
Oh really that day okay, but when we had we
had so much fun and got such good stuff that day.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah, it was like this should be the music video
and that's all we did.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Well. Graham was like I hit my target the first time,
but the second.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Time I couldn't you hit the talent.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
I was counting down for the release of that music video.
I was so excited, and.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
By the miss they made me throw the beer bottle
sitting down, that is true.
Speaker 10 (13:18):
Yeah he got to stand up getting the crow hop
in there.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
And then now you've shot another one.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
Man.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
My good buddy Trevor played the comp in that video.
Oh really, he's a good friend of mine.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Dude.
Speaker 10 (13:28):
He did awesome and we needed like real like like
for this.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
Yeah, I he did.
Speaker 10 (13:34):
He he really did like and and uh it was great.
I mean it was so fun to that the idea
came from Chase. Yeah, normally me and Chase will talk
about it and create it together.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
The idea killed.
Speaker 10 (13:47):
The man, but Chase goes, man, I got this idea,
and I was like, you sure, because I wouldn't have
been something I would have thought about it.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I was out there and he says, I promise you
it'd be cool. I was like, I trust you.
Speaker 10 (13:58):
It's just nice to be able to like lean on
somebody and just completely trust him.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Well, I'll be honest with you. Look nice in that
black suit, Lee Brice, everybody
