Speaker 1 (00:02):
You got anything. No?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Uh so this is unscripted with JT.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Bosh.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Unscripted is just another word for saying unprepared.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Should we apologize an advance or Okay.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
I make no apologies. It's exactly what it is, unscripted.
We're talking with Cameron Marlow, North Carolina native. He's from Kannapolis,
been doing some big things since he got to Nashville,
and he'll be at Bulls Bands and Barrels at the
LJBM Coliseum this weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Where are you at right now?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
I just got home from and I'm in Nashville for
the day and then i'll leave tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Yes, had no Winston Salem Bulls Bands and Barrels at
the LJVM Coliseum this Saturday. That's going to be such
a great event.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Bullsman's and Barrels is my favorite rodeo to date. I
think they do an incredible job. They have probably some
of the best people working there. I mean it is
a great event.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Have you ever gotten to ride a bull?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
No, man, I ain't quite that great. I like to
stay on the safer side of things. Yeah, bull riding
I don't think is in a card for me. I'll
be all right.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
What about a horse? Do you just performing and watch them?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
I mean, I've ridden a lot of horses, but technically
I'm not really allowed to do anything that's light for
my contract. So yeah, so it's kind of I'm not
really allowed to do anything like that.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
So tell me about your timeline from Kannapolis to Nashville.
How long did it take and what happened when you
got there?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah? Man, I think I moved in twenty nineteen. August
of twenty nineteen, and I came to Nashville. I met
some guys had a famous bar out here in Nashville
called Red Door, and they were like, man, we're getting
a house. I don't know if you was kind of
undecided if I was going to be able to make
the move or what I was going to do. And
I was like, you know what, I'm just gonna give
it a shot. So I moved out in twenty nineteen,
(01:47):
and I found a manager who helped me a lot,
and she's been with me since day line. I ended
up getting a record deal first, and then a publishing
deal shortly after. And on Nevin, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Well, you're living the dream. You're doing exactly what you
wanted to do.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, I take none of no days for granted. It's
one of the best things I could have ever decided
to do, and so I love it. Man, I don't
feel like I'm working a single day. You know.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Let's go back to your early days in Kannapolis. Where
was your favorite place to play?
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Go to Joe's, which is still one of my favorite
places to play nowadays. It's all like a lot of
my first concerts and early concerts and getting to be
up on the really special, especially for the first time.
So I've always held Covidy Joe's at a high regard.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
So with bulls bands and barrels, is it a different
kind of vibe for you or are you just doing
the same high energy show you always do.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Well, No, we switch it up a little bit, not
too crazy. I've been working on some new stuff and
it's been fun to kind of give a little shot
before you start putting it out and see how the
fans react live. And so maybe there'll be some of
that coming up this weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's a great way to test out new music for
your fans.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Absolutely absolutely get engauge from like people that might not
know you, and see if they react to it. If
they react to it and you might have something you know.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Your new singles seven teen is out. Tell me about
that song.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
This was a pain to write I'm not gonna lie
to you, and it fell out in like thirty minutes.
After like six hours of not getting anywhere with other songs,
we finally the song just just rolled out. So I
love this song. It's one of my personal favorites. We
get to play live because it's just got so much energy.
The crowds can kind of match that with you and
(03:23):
it's always a good time.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Bolls bands and barrels this Saturday, LJVM Coliseum in Winston.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Have you done Winston Salem before?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Oh? Man? Many times, many times, but I think we
always say we stop at bow Jangles a lot in
Winston Salem.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
And you know what, there's nothing wrong with that. That
means you're a North Carolinian, tried and.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
True day right man.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
So who are your favorite artists growing up? Listening to?
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Like Whalon and a lot of Willie Nelson, And then
I would say a lot of Brooks and Dune and
Travis Stritt, Randy Travis fellow Carolinian there and then it
was also a lot of rock. So like my mom
was a big they crewe. A lot of bon Jovi,
Guns n' Roses was in there quite a bit Eric Smith.
(04:07):
So I'm kind of all over the spectrum. Like I
really love blues music as well, so I listened to
a lot of blues music. Yeah, I'm all over the place, man,
I got a lot of influences.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Bulls Bands and Barrels.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
This Saturday, Cameron Marlow is going to perform Fox and
Vied and by what you're saying, the best rodeo ever.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I'm telling you, man, they do a great job. They
do it really well. I can't wait for everybody to
see it.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Cameron Marlow, thank you so much for talking to us,
and best of luck in the future.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Man.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
We can't wait to see what you've got coming up.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Absolutely, man, glad to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Cameron Marlow. What a great guy.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
So awesome to see North Carolina artists just doing well
in country music.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Thanks so much for listening.
