Speaker 1 (00:00):
And it's not feeling Friday. Vie ab out there. I
was out driving around today. I don't know if either
one of you guys are out there. Let's get let's
get skinny involved, and Skinny I was. It was round about, shoot,
I don't know, ten thirty this morning, and I was
coming across the four seventy one bridge back into Ohio northbound,
(00:21):
and it was black as coal, and I saw a
streak of lightning that I haven't seen the like in
a long time, and it scared the hell out of me.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
It looked like I was tell you, I.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Was sitting on my couch probably about that time when
I I mean, it was a loud thunderclap that I
wasn't expecting. It almost knocked me off the couch. I
just I wasn't expecting. I thought those things weren't coming
until later today, So hearing that loud boom and it
just took me by surprise.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, that was the thing.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I'm just it was kind of sprinkling rain, and right
as I hit the bridge, it started to pour. But
right before it started to pour, I saw that streak
of light and I heard that thunderclap you're talking about.
I almost drove sideway, so it's like, what the hell.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
It's it's gloomy out of here right now because I'm
driving it at the moment.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Yeah, well, what anyways, guys, let's talk about here. We
are skin any more or less halfway through the Bengals season. Now,
do you, uh, do you agree with my friend Jason
over here that maybe it's time to start, you know,
not necessarily tanking, but trying some new stuff and seeing
what happens.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I think they've already tried new stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
I mean I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, well, yeah, twobackers, you've played every defensive lineman who's
been on your roster. I'm not sure new to try. Uh.
I can tell you this. The two backup safeties, they
don't believe they can play either one of them, So
don't I don't ask me why they're the backup safeties.
They're both good special teams players, I guess that reason,
but they don't believe they can they can play safety,
(01:56):
uh in the National Football League. And they've known it
for a while and they didn't do anything about it,
And so you're kind of stuck at the moment with what.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
You got, Skinny. Every day, you know, we're in this
falling and all that. But I was just thinking, even
I was down at the Inquired newsroom before I came
up here, sitting there just reading stuff and like, you know,
I get all these emails and people are just just dumbfounded,
and You're like, it's it is dumbfounding to think that
(02:23):
this this defense is right now on pace to be
one of the worst in NFL history. It's the worst
in the NFL. Like, where do you start to get
your arms around that? Where does it all go?
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Like, well, let let's let's let's look at it a
little bit of individually. Right, Miles Murphy has not worked
out as a draft pick. First round pick Shamar Stewart's
a small sample side, but it's you've seen exactly what
he did at Texas A and m He's not very productive.
Two rookie linebackers a quartered Pro Football Focus to Meet
Your Night. Junior's rank eightieth of the eighty two line
backers in the league and Barret Carter's ranked eighty two
(03:02):
of eighty two. The true safeties are among the worst
tacklers in the National Football League. DJ Turner is having
a Pro Bowl year at Corn, so that that's been
a good draft pick. But between the free agency signings
and the drafts the last three or four years, that's
what you're stuck with now. And there's somebody who should
be responsible to that named Duke Tobin and.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Apparently he's not yeh no, right right, we haven't heard
from him. Where where is he? But I requested to
talk to him. I know you have as well. You're
exactly right, And it's just like, how can you whiff this?
Get it? You're gonna whiff here and there, like I mean,
that's kind of how that happens. But this consistently and
(03:42):
then not to come out and answer for it. I
get it. The whole thing is that Duke never talks
during the season. Well, this is a little bit of
a different circumstance here, Like we said, this is like
you said, like this is walling tembling down. Yes, like
this calls for you know, Zach Taylor, God love him,
(04:02):
like you know, there's some of these things he doesn't
have answers for because it's not in his control.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
I guess we're not going to hear from Duke or what.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
I mean. We made a full request as the beat
to get him, you know, on Tuesday, and he was
not He did not make himself available. Maybe he will
next week when we get back to regular coverage, but
I would not hold my breath on that. And you know,
I mean, listen, I like to know, did you try
to trade trade and rickson at the deadline and just
didn't get an offer your life? Did you try to
bring players in by a trade and just didn't you know,
(04:35):
didn't get offers you liked? That's possible to you know.
All I had to go by is that there was
inactivity at the trade deadline. I don't know was because
they didn't try or they didn't want to try, because
I don't really answer that, honestly. All I all I
have to go on is what they did, which was
they traded Logan Wilson and that was it.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
And I even want to ask him, like, you know,
like kind of all encompassing, like even on the good
side of this, like the Flacco trade, I mean that
guy's and phenhenomenon. I know that's been overshadowed, but like, hey,
what was the mindset there was? Was that your call?
Like you know, what influence did you have there? I think,
you know, I think there's an all encompassing things that
(05:11):
are you know, yeah, you want to ask them some
tough questions, but I think you also, like, you know, whatever,
whatever decision, whoever made it or collectively or whatever, that
was a great move, like and it's not something they
usually do, Like, hey, can we ask you questions about
that too?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Yeah? And I honestly think that. I mean, this rebuild
of the defense is going to take a while. It
just is. And that's the sad part of it. I mean,
and the longer it takes, the longer into Joe Burrow's career,
you are. And that's that's a that's that's tough to swallow.
I mean, can they get incrementally better here after the BUI? Well,
you sure hope so. But I mean, I've got a
nine game sample size. I guess an eight game because
(05:48):
they did play pretty well up in Cleveland against Joe Flaco.
But I've got an eight game sample size here. This
is just this is an epically bad defense. That's not
just a game or two where you're like, oh, yeah,
they kind of slipped up for a gamer. No, this
is like, it's feel like it's even getting worse, to
be honest with you. I mean they give have well
over two hundre yards rushing in the last two games.
In each of the last games. I mean, if an
(06:09):
NFL team averages one hundred and four yards rushing per game,
they're probably in the top ten and rushing in the league.
And you gave up almost double that. It's insane.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Well, guys, let's face the fact we're looking at this schedule.
You know that in the next five games, they're they're
looking down the barrel of uh basically going.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
What they're gonna They're gonna be underdogs in all fives.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I'm gonna say zero and five. Is that they're staring
down the barrel of that for the next five games.
That's not a good position to be in.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Guys, No, it's not. You know, the goofy part is
they're probably literally two plays away from us talking about
them being five and four and going to Pittsburgh to
play for first place. But you know, they lose two
games when they score eighty points combined, and it changes
the narrative completely. And then, like I said, you know,
I don't know if they go when five or not,
but I can all almost guarantee they're gonna be underdogs
(07:04):
in all five at Pittsburgh, New England at home, at Baltimore,
at Buffalo, and then Buffalo back at home. I can't
imagine they're a favorite in many of those games. So
I mean, you're gonna lose, but you're gonna be the
underdogging all five.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, then I win any of those games, skinny, And
then you know, just I mean you said it there
that they're how close they were, and that I think
should be what concerns Bengals fans is that I feel
like that's the mentality of the front office. Hey we're close,
We're close, And that was the attitude they had last year. Well,
they didn't make the playoffs and because of their defense,
(07:36):
and now it's worse this year. And it's like you
can't keep doing the same thing over and over and
over again and expect different results. I think their best
hope right now for rebuilding this defense is you know,
I'm not saying they're intentionally tanking, but to basically like
lose most of the rest of these games and get
a top five or ten draft pick and you know,
(07:58):
go get one of the absolute top elite players on
the draft board on defense next year. To me, that's
that's really the way to go here for them to
try to start to turn their defense around, because clearly
they're they're not going to spend money in free agency
because they don't have a lot of it because they
spent most of it on the offense. They weren't going
to do it in trades. So what's the next best
(08:20):
logical step for them? I guess, you know, try to
get a top five or ten draft pick.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Yeah, and at least when they've been in the top
five and it wasn't a defensive player. They did land
Jamar Chase, they did land Joe Burrow. Those were pretty
easy picks to make. But I'm not sure I trust
him to make a defensive pick. I really don't, you know.
I'll go back to Jack Jacksonville being a first round pick.
They wanted to make a stafty at him and then
that didn't work out. They put him back to the
corner and he got hurt. Now he's a slot corner.
(08:46):
I mean, they love him all around, you know. I'll
go back to last year's draft Chris Jenkins. You know,
they were talking highly of him in training camp and
he had a decent start the season. He's been a
wall of late. That's a second round pick, two third
round pick from last year. One defensively, McKinley Jackson be
active right active for two games. Trade asked for a trade.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
On top of it.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
I mean you can go up and down that board
of draft picks. I mean you've got two defensive ends
you took in the first round. Some one of the two,
it minimum should be a major contributor, and instead they're
negative factors that that just can't happen. How do I
trust these guys to make the right pick defensively?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yep, Well guys, well you just said it, Jason. Here's
what's going to happen. They they go zero and five,
these next to these next five, then they have cards Browns,
uh Dolphins, they have cards Dolphins and Browns, and uh
(09:45):
so they win those last three. Jason, you just said it.
Then it's gonna be like, see we're getting close.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Well you be, you be three teams on their heels, man,
And that's exactly what's going to happen. You know, we've
seen this act before.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
I would just say I've seen that season ending story
a lot of times in the nineties, and yeah, you
don't want to see that story again. I think the
only good thing here that's taking place because Flaco has
played so well is they can't use the Joe Burrow
excuse that only we have the only we had Joe Burrow.
And I'm not ere to tell you Jill Flacco's a
better quarter back to Joe Burrow. I'm not an idiot,
but he's I don't know if Joe Burrow would have
(10:20):
put up the things that Joe Flacco has the last
couple of couple of weeks. So you can't use that
as an excuse. Well, if only we had Joe Burrow,
you know, when only scored thirteen, now he scored thirty
eight and forty two. Is Joe Burrow caple that? Absolutely,
He's done it before and lost games if that happened
last year where they won in four in games in
which they scored thirty points or more. So, I think
that's the only good part of this is that you
(10:40):
can't use that as an excuse that if well you
know Burrow had got urt. Well, no, your defense is
the one that's cost you because you should be five
and four at the moment because your offense played well
the last few.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Weeks, all right, well that's skinny. We will let you go. Buddy.
What are you up to tonight? What do you got
going on this weekend?
Speaker 3 (10:55):

Speaker 10 (14:34):
For the process that you're using to gain leverage through
your record long government shutdown is at the price of
the American people. They are the ones that are suffering
from this, not the people in this chamber, the American people.
They are the collateral damage for your leverage.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
That's who's paying the price for the political game.
Speaker 11 (14:55):
Ohio Senator John Houston on the Senate floor today calling
to reopen the government from this record long shutdown. Leaders
from both parties are introducing new bills in that chamber.
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said today Democrats will sign the
House passed bill to reopen the government if it includes
a one year Obamacare credit extension.
Speaker 12 (15:14):
Democrats would like to see an end to this shutdown,
and we want to respect Leader Thun's desire not to
negotiate on ACA until after the government reopened.
Speaker 11 (15:24):
Schumer said, then both parties can negotiate a longer term
fix to rising health costs with the government open. That
is a walk back of what Democrats have been demanding. Earlier,
GOP senators pushed a new bill that would pay federal
employees during the shutdown. Meantime, the Trump administration is now
appealing a judge's order that it move ahead with funding
billions of dollars in snap food benefits by today. Now

A change in Cincinnati fire leadership. Assistant Fire Chief Sherman

Dating apps.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
I thank god. Yeah, I'm sure you met your wife organically.
Did you use a dating site or anything or was
it a fashioned way? You went to school with her,
you work with her, or you met her in mutual question?
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yeah, he's now my brother in law. Yeah, just use
my buddy and yeah, introduced us.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Sure, and that's the way it always happened, and now
it's always dating apps. That's the way both of my
sons have met any Honest to god, I think that
maybe one I think, well, I think they went out
with one girl in each of them went out with
a girl in high school that they were in school with,
(21:00):
and do them from there, you know, high school girlfriend.
But anything they anybody they've dated once they got out
of school, has been somebody them at on an app.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Wow, that's that's today's world. Huh, that's that is today's world.
But this guess we're going to have have on is
talking about check this out. Half of young adults are
going on dating apps to meet potential employers. Not you know,
(21:32):
it's not like a young girl going on to meet
a rich guy. They're trying. They're seeing what you do. Obviously,
you give your profile and if.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
You're okay, I'm uh, I'm vice president of such and such.
You know, well, they want to go out with you
so they can get in with you and then get
a job, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Yeah, that's that's what's going on now. Wow, And we're
going to be talking. I'm looking forward to that segment.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Yeah, we're gonna be talking to this lady about it,
and she she's not she's not in the dating world,
but she is. She's a consultant for hiring and she's saying,
this is very like I said, half of people admit
to doing that, and it's becoming more and more prevalent. Hey, look,
it's it's smart, I guess.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I mean, but yes, are you then making Yeah, I'll
be curious. I've got a lot of questions and maybe
we'll save that because I'm just well, I'll go and
ask this one. So you then, let's say it works
out that you get works out on getting hired there,
(22:45):
So are you then keeping eye Yeah you're not really
you don't really like this person, but are you keeping
up the whole front of like yeah, you know, yeah,
like you oh cool, like we're dating and then get
the job and he then right, yeah, I got your
job here, so uh it's time for you know, come
across and you go ah. I would just kidding. That's
(23:10):
gonna cause a little turmoil in the office place, especially
if you're in I mean, if it's amazing like a
huge company and like you know, you work at one
side of the company and this person works another. Okay,
if you're working like General Electric or something, and they
do that, and you do that right over there someplace,
like you're saying, but hey, man, to go under those
(23:31):
pretenses like thanks for the gig.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
You know, I don't think I'm I'm not feeling it,
so see you later, but thanks for the job. I'll
see you in the cafeteria or not.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
You don't sit on my table please.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
But dating now, did you date much in high school
or whatever? The hell? You've been with your wife for
a while. I'm married fifteen years and we're we're on
long term relationship. Before that, we known each other. We
were friends for a long time. We're like, like I said,
my her sister and brother in law. Her brother in
(24:12):
law was my was my buddy, and we all had
a group of friends. So we all just hung out
for a long time. So and then we didn't end
up dating for that long because we had already skipped
the whole We already known each other, you know, and
then we had never really it was one of those
things that were like, yeah, there's nothing, and then just
one day it clicked, oh you know what, like she's
in the music and I'm not. But there was a
(24:33):
band that there was a band coming to the Oakley Theater,
Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and I love that band,
and I had no I was like, you know what,
I bet Bethan he'd like to go. And then just
like kind of was one of those things like oh
well sparks, sparks kind of flew. And next thing we're like, yeah,
(24:53):
we went out on a date soon after that, and
here we are with two kids. That's the way it happens.
Big mortgage, Yeah, well look the American Dream, American Tree.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
I went out with my wife one time and then
I didn't call I didn't call her the next day,
and she apparently was telling all over all of our
friends you work with, he.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Hasn't called me today. What does that mean? They're like,
oh no, dude, he didn't. He isn't like you.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
And then I called her the next day and I
was like, hey, what are you doing? And she I
don't know what's gonna She was kind of snippy with me.
I was like, what's wrong, Well, you didn't call me
yesterday or you was it was the first dai Okay,
I said, what do you mean I didn't call you yesterday?
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah? I feel I'm not needy? Right right? Was cool?
Did you have fun? Let it breathe a little bit? Yeah,
that's that was kind of way.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
I was like.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Now here you are two kids and two kids and
thirty three years later looking uh with that. We check
in with traffic and weather. What is going.

That is a crash that has almost been cleaned up.
Will keep an eye on that Fort Washington Way westbound

are looking at heavier traffic on seventy one southbound MLK

around about this time every Friday, we talked to John Matteis.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
We're in the process of.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Tracking him down and the main thing we want to
talk to him about is what's going on with flights
around the holidays with this shutdown thing going on, man,
Because I've seen multiple reports of airports all around on
the country either severe delays uh and or cancelations outright.
(28:10):
So real curious as to what's going on with that?
And we do have John right now from w c
PO nine News and John deb and I your good
friend debajas Or supposed to be flying the week after Thanksgiving,
and I'm not feeling at all good about it.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Yeah, good luck you about good luck?
Speaker 13 (28:35):
No.
Speaker 6 (28:36):
I think they're going to get this resolved in a
matter of days. I think the air traffic control situation
was kind of the last straw, and at this point
they are going to resolve this.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
What are you guys hearing?
Speaker 1 (28:50):
All I've heard is kind of a stalemate. But I
know that everybody's, like you said, the push has come
to shove right now and people are trying to People
want answers and they want solved.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
Yeah, And you know people are saying this is crazy.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
You know.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
It was the one thing that's terrible about the snap
benefits being cut and all the other issues and the
TSA agent's not being paid, they all terrible. But I
think what happened was this morning when they said, hey,
we're gonna start cutting ten percent of flights. And you know,
we had the Channel nine camera live at CEVG this
morning and you saw the board. It was canceled canceled, canceled.
(29:28):
You know, this morning's flights out there, like a dozen
flights canceled some big cities, you know, New.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
York, Chicago.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
I think it really get home for people. And from
what I'm hearing this afternoon, uh, they're they're they're getting
real close. The Democrats are saying, Okay, why don't we
do this or publicly, let's do something here. I think
when senators can't get on the plane and fly home,
they're constituent and their wife husbands.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Yeah, that's suddenly.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
They're going to get things done. So I've known some
people who flew out this morning, you know, and luckily
got on their flight, and that's good, but you know
some people did not, and the airlines are scrambling. And
at this point, if you have a flight for Thanksgiving,
I think they'll have this resolved by them, because if
they don't, it's gonna be bedlam at the airport.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Oh absolutely, does this John, Does any of this have
any kind of trickle down effect on the cost of
flights in any way?
Speaker 6 (30:27):
That's a that's another issue what some people are doing.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
Let's say let's say the.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
Well heeled is set, they're buying backup tickets. So you know,
you've got a flight down to Orlando coming up Thanksgiving,
and you know, if you have money, you buy a
second ticket, like, okay, we've got a flight on Delta,
let's buy a flight on United or something. So people
are doing. In fact, Frontiers CEO even suggested people do
(30:52):
that because well, Frontier, you know, well.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Of course, I'm like, why five tickets that way you
know you're going to get there.
Speaker 6 (31:01):
Yeah, buy a backup ticket on another airline. That's like
the head of Chevy saying, you know what, buy a
Ford while you're at it, just in case, you know,
just in case our car doesn't work. So as they
had a Frontier saying buy a ticket on another airline.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
But he makes a good point.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
You know, if you can't afford it, you're go buy
another ticket that's obviously going to be four or five
hundred bucks at this point, as long as it's refundable
or changeable, you'll have that credit if you can afford it.
But except for that, the fares are going up, and
we're already hearing about that happening because people are scrambling.
There's going to be fewer flights. People are like, oh,
(31:40):
I better get another ticket, and so getting those holiday fights,
specially Thanksgiving, it's crazy now, you know.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Six hundred seven hundred dollars round trips even hot.
Speaker 6 (31:50):
I saw some stuff on Delta obviously that the premium
airline for one thousand dollars round trip to New York
over Thankskeeping.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Wow, that's like, ooh, you just like.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
For that.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
I've always wanted to see the Macy's parade, but I
don't want to see it that see that macy.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Prayed for a thousand dollars round trip.
Speaker 6 (32:12):
Really, so you know it's gonna be it's gonna be tricky,
But personally, as I said, I think this is going
to be resolved in a matter of days. Now when
you've got those senators stuck in Washington, d C. And
they can't get home to their families.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
All right, with the let's switch gears here, Johnny and
talking about Thanksgiving? What about people have been talking about
the price of turkeys was going to be through the roof.
And I'll tell you I was at the grocery store
just a few days ago, and I know I made
a point of looking at the price of turkeys a
little more expensive, but it seemed to be through the roof.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
Yeah yeah, people are saying wow because we kept hearing Oh,
Thanksgiving dinner's gonna be twenty percent higher this year. Turkey
price is up sharply bird flu, so you know we're
all going into a thing. Oh boy, it's going to
be expensive. Maybe maybe we don't invite Aunt Betty this
year because it's going to be so expensive. But that's
not the case with the frozen turkeys because stores are
(33:07):
taking a loss on them. They just want to get
you in to buy all the fixings. So Walmart rolled
out frozen butterball turkey ninety seven cents a pound. I mean,
that's crazy cheap, ninety seven cents of teo. But I
want to get a roast and it's you know, eighteen
dollars a pound to buy a roast a stick in
the oven on Sunday, ninety seven cents a pound for butterballs.
(33:30):
Kroger has Kroger brand frozen turkey, also good. That's ninety
nine cents a pound. So you've got the stores basically
fighting each other to get you in to get that
cheap frozen turkey.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
You big turkey like fourteen bucks.
Speaker 6 (33:44):
So it's amazing. Even though the growthery. Inflation is up.
We are finding that the turkey prices this year are
down from last year.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
And that's pretty cool. And is it down because was
last year? Was that a was the bird flew? Big
deal last yeary?
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Right? The year before Bert had the price is high?
Speaker 6 (34:05):
But that's not you know, I'm gonna I'm gonna get
like five turkeys and tell my kids.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Hey, guys, every week now for the next six.
Speaker 6 (34:12):
Months, we're gonna be having a turkey dinner.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
They're cheap.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
I got.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
You're going to be eating leftovers on it for the
week after that, right, I gotta tell you a few
years it wasn't shoot, it was certainly maybe it was
during COVID, I don't remember. But at Kroger I remember
turkeys were thirty nine cents a pound, and so I
and I did exactly that. I bought two turkeys and
I kept one in the freezer and Dead was like,
(34:40):
why do we have a sixteen pound turkey in our freezer?
And I was like, because we're gonna have turkey. I'm
gonna make that for Valentine's Day. That sound you're gonna
think that.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
We're having for Christmas?
Speaker 6 (34:55):
For christ and New Year's and Valentine.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Right, the famous Eastern turkey.
Speaker 6 (35:03):
Come on, man, it's so cheap.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
That is some good news. You know, we hear so
much about the high grocery prices. This price of steak
is crazy. But get out.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
There and think got the sales going on now, guys,
As I always say, don't waste your money.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
All right, thanks Johnny? All right, so yeah, that's that's
a true fact that I had the thirty nine cents
a pound. Thirty nine that's a pound.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
I was like, we can't afford that's she always gives
me crap because I'll say I always say we can't
afford not to do it. She can't argue with it.
I mean, we got a look at sixteen pound turkey
and I think it was like nine dollars or something.
And I was like, I don't care if you just
(35:51):
if you know, we make it and you make soup
out of the bones and the other stuff, we'll be
eating that turkey for a long time because last year
was insane. Yeah, as I recall, yeah, yeah, yeah, that
was ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (36:05):

It is a walk back of what they had initially demanded.
They wanted a full permanent extension of these Obamacare tax
credits that if they're not extended, will cause premiums for
some twenty million Americans who get their insurance through Obamacare
marketplaces to skyrocket. Democrats want of the tax credits to
be permanent. What Chuck Schumer is now offering Republicans today
(37:35):
is just a one year extension of those tax credits.

Earlier, talking about the use of dating.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Apps to get your foot in the door at companies
is becoming more and more prevalent.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
Yes, we're looking at it.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
According to a report, thirty four percent of dating app
users say they've used the platform for job or career
purposes in the past year. Nearly one in ten say
it was their primary motivation. So you're going in there, Okay.
This guy looks like he's in charge of well, guy
or girl or woman is in charge of such and
(43:12):
such at such and such corporation or company or whatnot,
and you go, ah, let's go out on a date
and I'll present my case to him.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
It's kinda I mean, probably isn't part of the algorithm
too that had already I think they said, what's seventy
five percent? We're intentionally matched with people in specific rules.
So I wonder if the algorithm like, you know, hey,
they work in logistics, and right, you have your profile
on there, so I'm sure that.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Well, let's talk to an expert in the matter. She
is Brenda Siri. She is a Hiring Experts president and
CEO of Corporate Connections and twenty years over twenty years
involved in this type of thing. Brenda, welcome to the program.
Speaker 19 (43:54):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (43:55):
Eddie So so, Brenda, you heard his talking there and
it sounds like this is becoming more and more prevalent.
What what are you seeing?
Speaker 19 (44:04):
Well, it's interesting I think that some of the you know,
matchmaking websites like Tinder and Bumble, they've actually created offshoot
sites to compete with, you know, a LinkedIn type of
you know, job board. Right, So Tinder has created Ripple,
which is an app that was specifically designed to compete
(44:27):
with LinkedIn. Bubble has created one called bubble Biz, you know,
to allow people to make more professional connections. And I
think that what the attraction is here, uh, you know,
to jobsers versus just using something like LinkedIn, is it
gives you the opportunity to make a more personal connection, right,
(44:50):
not just going out and applying for jobs on LinkedIn
or trying to connect with someone at a company that
you hope would be willing to make a connection for you,
because don't we always say it's about who you know, right,
that can help you get.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
Your foot in the door.
Speaker 19 (45:06):
But these dating sites have created very specific applications to
help people make that more personal connection.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
I don't know, Brenda sounds sounds like a recipe for
some I don't know, some fireworks and so yeah, it's yeah,
it could be combustible. You get the job and I'm
dating you know or whatever. Yeah, and it's like, eh,
well myself, I.
Speaker 19 (45:35):
Think that I would think that most of the people
that are taking this approach are not really going on
those websites to find someone that they can date. They're
really hoping to make that connection. You know, I'm a
headhunter and I have people reach out to me all
the time on LinkedIn. Hey, I see you have a
job posted. I'm really interested can you help me? And
(45:56):
a lot of headhunters don't have time for that and
don't respond to that. Where you know, in a case
like this, it's like, hey, I'm really interested in the
company you work for. Would be willing to have a
conversation with me, you know, rather than just applying. They're
having an opportunity to make a personal connection and.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Talk with someone.
Speaker 19 (46:15):
So I think that that people that are on these
dating sites, who are also part of these new applications
that have been designed to create professional connections are willing
to have those conversations.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
Now, as Jason kind of referred to it, there, Uh,
do you see a possible kind of uh with the
if you're going to the business side of say tender
or whatever or bumble, if you're going to that side
of it, sure, But if you're just going, if you're
on a dating app to go out with someone to
(46:51):
get your hooks into them, maybe you don't know that
there's a business angle. Isn't that kind of what we
used to call a gold digger. I don't care if
it's a man an oral woman.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
Yes it is.
Speaker 19 (47:05):
You're right, but I think that and this is something
you can apply to every day in your life.
Speaker 20 (47:10):
Right.
Speaker 19 (47:11):
How many times have you, you know, met someone, had
a conversation with them and found out that, you know, hey,
what do you do for a living? And they tell
you and you're like, you know what, I know someone
I should connect you with. I know someone who could
really use your services. Or I've talked to someone recently
who's looking for someone who does what you do. It's
all about connections, right, so you know, I guess it's
(47:32):
you know, it's the intent behind it. Are you just
using someone for a date to hope that they'll connect.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
You with someone?
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 19 (47:39):
Sound pretty gold diggerish for sure, but you're you know, yeah,
but if your your goal is really you know, to
meet people, and it turns into something that can happen anytime.
I have plenty of professional connections who have introduced me
to people that turned out to be clients, So it's
not that far off from what can happen in real life.
(48:02):
It just seems it does seem a little maybe shady
in some ways, right, I.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
Mean, I mean, yeah, it makes sense Brenda from a
standpoint of you know, you want to connect with someone
who you know, if they're in the same kind of
industry or I don't. I guess it's probably not any
different than you know, hey, you want to go out
with someone with the same political views or the same
religious views, or you know, they they understand my life
(48:33):
as a I don't know, financial you know, whatever financial
person for some you know, Procter and Gamble or something,
you know, I mean, is that is that sort of
the idea here generally on this is that hey, this
is just one thing that you could have in common
with this person to connection.
Speaker 19 (48:55):
Yeah, you're you're definitely you know, trying to make those connections.
And and you know, for job seekers, you don't really
often get to make those personal connections through a LinkedIn
type of application, right, This allows you to make those
more personal connections and maybe it turned Look, I know
a million people who have used dating websites and gone
(49:16):
out with people and after one or two dates are like, Yep,
not my tight. But there are also situations where people
go out and say it wasn't my type, but we
turn out to be good friends and through that friendship.
I've now met a couple of other people, and you know,
I might be able to do some work with them.
It doesn't seem that horrible when you think about it
(49:39):
like that.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
No, I think about girls that I went out with,
I don't think I'm friends with them. But that's beside
the point. So Brenda, let me ask you this switching
gears for just a second. As a professional headhunter, how
is it? How is the world out there right now?
How you know getting jobs or are you finding that?
(50:00):
Where's the economy out at as far as you're seeing
with the job seekers?
Speaker 19 (50:06):
So really, it's been a great year. Unemployment rates have
gone down, a lot of people have been hiring.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
But in my.
Speaker 19 (50:13):
World, this time of year is typically it starts to
slow down, right, And that is because hiring managers have
a budget. They know at the beginning of every year
what positions they need to fill, they know how their
budget looks to fill those positions, and sometimes throughout the
year things come up where you know, they have to
(50:35):
deviate from their budget and their plan and bring on
another person. Then they have to readjust their budget and
they start getting towards the end of the year and
they're like, do I really need to fill these last
three or four positions this year, or could I wait
till my twenty twenty sixth budget. So in the recruiting world,
this typically is a slower time of year, but it's
(50:57):
not a complete you know. You know, there are still
people hiring, there are still opportunities, and oftentimes people will
reach out to someone like me and say, hey, I'd
like you to go ahead and start a search, but
I don't want the person to start until January, right
because they don't want people coming in in the midst
of the holidays. So but I would say that it
(51:19):
really has been a good year for hiring and companies
are definitely still hiring. I think the biggest challenge is
that within certain hiring age groups, there are people who
are saying, I refuse to go back into an office.
I want to stay at home. And a lot of
companies are saying, come on, you know, the pandemic's over,
(51:41):
we want people back in the office, or we're willing
to offer you know, flexible schedules where you're in the
office three days a week and at home two days
a week. So you know, there are some people who
are just adamant about not going back into an office
and pushing for that, and I think they're really hurting them.
Speaker 1 (51:59):
So with that, Brenda siri, we will let you go.
Thanks so much of great stuff. People want to find
out more about you. Where can they go?
Speaker 19 (52:09):
They can go? Certainly find me on LinkedIn Brenda's sire.
I think I might be the only one out there.
And my company's website is Corporate Connections LLLC dot com.

Speaker 2 (54:08):
This report is sponsored by All State. Some people just
know you could save money on car insurance by checking
the whole, and we're going to be talking about this.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
The reason I bringing it up right now is we're
going to be talking to our good friend John Risby,
the Batent Professor, about the image and likeness. And we're
not talking about you know, college football players. We're just
talking about actors and the whole. The AI thing is
through the roof and the stuff that's going on right now.
(54:40):
And one of the things that he's citing, and I
was watching it earlier and I was just looking at
it again, there is an AI video of Michael Jackson
in Kentucky Fried Chicken stealing somebody's chicken dinner or something.
It's just what I mean, where are people For one thing,
(55:04):
where do you come up with this stuff? And for
another as how do you think you're going to get
away with it without somebody coming after you? And that's
where we're going to talk to Risby about what are
what are these people's rights, you know, as far as
if you're a public figure, what are your rights as
far as image and likeness go?
Speaker 2 (55:20):
Because there's I don't see any end of this, Uh yeah, right.
You can just you can grab the likeness off of
almost like you got someone like Michael Jackson. There's so
many images of him out there. People could be recording
our voice and Dave Hatter's talked about that, correct. They
all they need is that I forget what it is
(55:41):
eight ten seconds of your voice, and then they can
just construct a virtual human yeah, out of that. Well,
I see all these like fake press conferences from coaches
on Twitter and and they're like like and you're like, goodness,
like it really is him doing it? Like, but then
there's like crazy wacky stuff. You're like, oh, that's a
(56:02):
I right, it's just like there's no difference. Well, and
I saw, I see.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
I'm sure everybody listening has you've seen where there's fake
movie trailers and they're fake trailers. There was a thing
I saw not too long ago that Friends was going
to have a reunion show after when Matthew Perry died.
They were going to do a show about that. They
(56:30):
were all going to go to his funeral, but he
was going obviously going to be that character, and they
had put this whole thing together and it looked totally real,
totally real, and I was I was asking my wife,
was like, have you heard about this? They're doing that?
That's crazy and my son happened to be coming over
(56:52):
that night and he took one look at it and goes, Dad,
that's AI.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
I was like, how do you know? Well, he said,
they're just little tells. Once you once it's described, you
you see what they're what they're talking about. But if
you're just a casual viewer stuff, and that's what's going
to start to hav anyone do is you know them
as well as I do?
Speaker 5 (57:14):
Well?
Speaker 2 (57:15):
Just really, I mean movies, I mean literally, I feel
like there will be yeah, yeah, sitcoms. I don't know,
like where does it stop. I ain't gonna know.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
We'll talk to John Risby about that, but that's after

The questions continue about snap benefits, government worker pay, affordable healthcare,
and more with the four point thirty report. I'm Jack
Crumley breaking now, but in the midst of a shutdown,
we can't have a federal court telling the president how
he has the triage in the situation. Vice President jd
Vance last night saying a judge can't tell the president
what to do as the back and forth continues between
(57:59):
a court and the Trump administration over funding snap benefits.
The USDA previously said that it was moving money to
help millions of Americans, and then President Trump announced that
nothing would be done until the government's back open. There
was another court deadline today. Democrats in the Senate, meantime,
have insisted on some kind of work to prevent Obamacare
subsidies from expiring for millions as a condition of reopening
(58:21):
the government. The Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer altered that
demand today.
Speaker 12 (58:26):
We will agree with the Republican Republican request not to
start negotiations until after the government reopens. All Republicans have
to do is say yes to extend current law for
one year.
Speaker 11 (58:40):
Republicans giving that a thumbs down. Majority Leader John Thune
called it a non starter, adding that a one year
extension doesn't address the core issues of Obamacare. It's unclear
if Senators will even take a vote once again today
on the House passed bill to reopen the governments.

More than a few of our patients have talked to
me about their first time, but it's not the first
time you're probably thinking about. It's the first time that
a rectile dysfunction ruined them. This is Jeff for Tri
State Men's Health, And if you're over fifty, it's likely
that you've had that first time yourself. But the good
news is that if you're like most men, that first
time can be the last time that ED impacts your

sex life. At Tri State Men's Health, we're experts in
treating ED We've treated tens of thousands of men using
protocols with success rates well over ninety percent, and those
treatments have in most cases made sex great again for
both them and their partners. You could even find that
you're performing like you haven't in years. So if ED
has been affecting your intimacy, it's time to make the
last time that happens the last time that happens. For

consult and, if medically advised, a TESTOS and if that

Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Don't call the average joke Jason, really AI. We talked
about this when it first started, and shoot, it seems
like it was ten years ago. But this has all
become very prevalent, and what would you say, the last
really three years? Maybe yeah, maybe even sooner than that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
That it's become so real that you honestly can't tell
We were talking about going into the break, about watching
movie trailers or TV you know, parts of TV shows
that aren't real, but it looks exactly sounds exactly like
the people.
Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Yep. And then the one you reference and we're going
to talk to our guests about was that Michael Jackson
in the KFC restaurant. I watched that. I'm like, is
he back? Is he back from the dead? Yeah? Or
is this found video?
Speaker 20 (01:04:44):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
Right? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
Well, let's uh, let's talk about do these people have
any rights and to fight these things? And do they care?
Let's talk to our good friend John Risby. He is
the patent professor.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
John. How we doing?
Speaker 5 (01:04:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (01:04:58):
Good always to be here. And I think I'm hearing
you guys talk about how long it's been. It feels
like very real, Like the last year there's been incredible changes,
and it's just that technology is moving so fast, right
that the laws are having a hard time.
Speaker 4 (01:05:14):
Keeping up yep.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
And that's what I was wondering, John, do you know
what I mean? Like you just said, I said the
last three years, and as you said, particularly in the
last year, has there been some kind of new technology
that we're not aware of that this thing has made
that leap? Or have they just they're using the current
technology and perfecting it.
Speaker 16 (01:05:35):
Well, they're continuous changes in technology. We now have the
Sora two app, which is creating huge waves because, as
you mentioned, it's just incredibly realistic video and it's you know,
either existing celebrities or celebrities that are deceased. And you know,
(01:05:57):
one of the things you mentioned like are they okay
with it? Well, vicing celebrities at least get us say
and whether they're okay with.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
It or not.
Speaker 16 (01:06:04):
But like like Michael Jackson, it's like, what can you
really do? And there's there's some estates of deceased people,
for example Martin Luther King Junior, and they're concerned about
the legacy and respect of the deceased because they're not
here to fight for their rights and they can't consent
(01:06:26):
to these or opt out, which SOA originally had an
opt out model. In other words, we are going to
use your likeness unless you opt out. But that's certainly
for a live celebrities that's even a possibility, but that's
that can't even be done for someone that's deceased. So
they're absolutely the need for the law to catch up
(01:06:47):
and allow celebrities to control the use of their likeness,
and for that matter, why limited to celebrities. There's a
right of privacy that any individual should have that prevents
their likeness from being used to create a deep faked video.
And when I talk about the law is not being
(01:07:09):
moving quick enough. There's a Take It Down Act which
was became a law in May of twenty twenty five,
and it's not even enforced yet. It's not enforced until
May nineteenth of twenty twenty six, and it covers the
removal of intimate images basically really geared towards revenge porn.
(01:07:33):
But the law's not even kicked in, and it seems
to be needed. I believe it needs to be amended
to not just be limited to revenge porn or intimate images.
But why does something have to be x rated before
you your lifeness have to be x rated before you
can control somebody using it in any manner that you
(01:07:55):
don't approve of.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Sure, jonas'sass be incredibly fascinating for you, because are you here?
You know you just go down the list here there's
a there's a fake video Marilyn Monroe resurrected as a
TSA agent going through a traveler's bag. Uh, Jake Paul
(01:08:17):
the m M A guy uh you know is depicted
as modeling dresses. Like, where does it stop? And it's like,
is there are there any other are you catching any
uh word about any other efforts to get more laws
on the books right now? I know you just referenced
(01:08:37):
the Take It Down Act? Is there anything else out
there that's that's cooking in terms of legislation? And if so,
is that is it federal? Is it state? Is it?
Speaker 3 (01:08:47):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
Where does it that creates?
Speaker 23 (01:08:49):
No?
Speaker 16 (01:08:49):
You bring up a good point. It's it's like, in
my mind it should be federal. But what's happening is
a lot of states because there somebody has to fill
that void if there's no protection. Some states are stepping forward.
The Elvis Act in Tennessee is a great example. It's
a it's a law. It's the Ensuring Likeness, Voice and
(01:09:11):
Image Security Act that stands for Elvis and but it's
state law. Like, so, how does it's really like do
we really want a legal system where there's fifty different
laws and fifty different states of how a likeness can
be used online? I think it needs to be federal.
I mean to Take It Down Acts probably a good
(01:09:32):
place to start. But addressing your issue about are all
the celebrities okay with it? It's not universal that they oppose.
There's some Mark Cuban's probably the most example.
Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Going to ask you about of somebody that's just embracing this.
Speaker 16 (01:09:50):
I mean he's loving it and in fact he's trying
to leverage it to his benefit. So the way so
two works is a celebrity is allowed to open their
likeness for others to use it, and they get to
set what restrictions they want. So what Mark Cuban did
is set the restriction that anybody can use his likeness,
(01:10:12):
but they have to mention his company cost plus Drugs.
And some say it's a brilliant move because now without
having to invest any time or any money in promoting
his company, he's having users do it for free by
creating using his likeness to create videos that he's not
(01:10:33):
paying for, and that's spreading his brand and the message
of his company. Of course, you know, things are only
brilliant until something goes wrong. So you know, it looks
like a great idea, but there's very few celebrities that
are jumping on board and the pro side, so Mark
(01:10:53):
Cuban's one like Jake Paul has also opened his likeness
to use by others, but overwhelming majority have not, And
I think they're just taking a wait and see approach,
like let's wait and see how this works, and let's
see how it works out for Mark, and if it's
good for him, eventually we'll, you know, we'll get our
(01:11:14):
toes in the water and jump in. But people are afraid.
Celebrities are afraid because they don't really know what the
recourse is going to be. If somebody doesn't follow the rescriptions,
you know, you can agree to them and not follow them,
and then what's going to happen at that point and
what the enforcement is? How long is it going to take.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
We're talking to John Risby, the patent professor, and John.
The thing for people who don't know what we're talking
about here, Mark Cuban. The one video that I was
reading about is him taking a big hard bong.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Hit and.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
Talking about how good it is. And his only comment
was like, that's pretty funny. The thing is, I don't
really So that's one thing, a living person we were
just talking about. But man, if these people's these you know,
the long dead celebrities, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, et cetera.
(01:12:14):
If their states aren't paying attention, people could do pretty
much whatever they want to do.
Speaker 16 (01:12:19):
Huh, they can, and they can remove the watermarks. So
Soro too, of course has a watermark on there. But
there's hackers that are able to use the software create
a video that looks incredibly realistic and then remove the
watermark and making it harder for the average layperson to
even tell that it's an AI video. And sometimes, you know,
(01:12:43):
people you might not take it as seriously when it's
dealing with celebrities that are entertainers somehow, musicians and actors
and actresses, and if it's Hollywood, it seems to be okay, well,
the harm is limited. I don't think that's necessarily the case.
But what about politicians. What about an important election and
(01:13:04):
you get fake videos that come out, you know, twenty
twenty four hours before voting, there's not even enough time
for people to really figure out that it's not real.
It could be something incredibly embarrassing to a politician. The
consequence that could lose the election as a result of
a fake video that comes out that people aren't able
(01:13:25):
to verify the accuracy of You.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Mentioned those watermarks. I have noticed those on some of
these videos, but there's no there's no requirement, right, no
law in place that says it has to have in
some kind of discreet little corner of the screen or
anything that a little watermarks, right right, Okay.
Speaker 16 (01:13:45):
Yeah, there's not. And that's and I've seen some that
look incredibly realistic and I look for the watermark and
I don't see it. So it's certainly not universally followed either, All.
Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
Right with that, John Risby, this fascinating topic, and let's
face it, as we were just talking about, these things
are getting more and more realistic, seemingly every day, and
it's only going to get worse.
Speaker 16 (01:14:10):
In my opinion, it is more the existing software is
getting more powerful, and there's always new competitors coming out
with something that takes it to a different level. So
I think it's just really difficult for the lot of
move fast enough to keep up with the technology. As
I said, to take it down. ACT is kind of
(01:14:31):
becoming obsolete before it even fully kicks in.
Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
With that, John Risby, will let you go. People want
to find out more where can they go?
Speaker 16 (01:14:41):
So our website is the patent professor dot com and
that's our handle on all social media, so Facebook, Instagram,
tiktokdpatentprofessor dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:14:53):
Thank you, my friend, thank you. Take care, John Risve.
And it is it's fascinating, but man, it is screwed up.
Big that can happen with this big time, and it's
every time you click on a social media platform almost
always there's one that pops on your feet if you're
on there for any any amount of time. And like,
(01:15:16):
that's my biggest worry. What he was talking about in
the in the election time doesn't matter if the president, senator,
or the local school board, it doesn't matter. Somebody puts
out a video, people are going to believe it regardless,
and then I should no laws around it. Correct.
Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Then you find out five days after the election, oh
that was fake. With that in mind, we check in

Ride back with Eddie and Jason and Jase.
Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
I was telling you earlier, my wife is out tonight
for an overnight, so that leaves the headman all loaded
at home.
Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
Sounds sounds delightful. See, now that's some junk, fast food,
junk food chill.
Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
I went and bought some frozen shrimp today and like
bread and shrimp, you know, just that kind of junk.
Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
Get myself some chips, you know, fry it up. You
bake it, put in near frer so half and a
half basically as I have a little bit of that
going on, you know, a little beer going on some
such and uh and I mean put a movie on that. See,
(01:18:35):
when we're not together, we always watch a movie that
we know the other person won't like. So I'm gonna
watch a movie tonight that I know she wouldn't want
to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Well, what are the can you share the candidates for
what you might watch?
Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
That's this topic coming up? I want to I want
to talk about that. Any recommendations for a movie that
maybe I haven't seen or also movie because I also
might go back and watch a movie that I've watched
fifty times before, yep, which I'm more than likely to
do it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Didn't you know?
Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
But five one, three, seven, four, nine, seven, eight hundred
the big one movie recommendation or a movie you watched
like at least five times for me goes. Rockie and
I were talking about this not too long ago. For me,
it's Commando Schwarzenegger, I've said, because besides this stuff like
(01:19:31):
you know, Wizard of Oz. We've all seen Wizard of
Oz twenty times or whatever the hell it's been and
stuff like that. But Commando, I don't know why. I've
watched that movie a ton of times. Animal House, I've
watched a ton of times. Star Wars, I've watched a
ton of times.
Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
Do you have any movies like that? Oh? Yeah, Karate Kid?
Karate Kid. That was when I came to mind when
you were asking about this, Uh what else did? I
was going down my list of all the back to
the Future. Yeah, I like, I'm a I'm a I'm
a kid of the eighties man. So a lot of those,
A lot of those movies I watched growing up, right,
(01:20:08):
I'll still if I see it on major leagues. Another
one that if it's on are you a Goonies Guy?
Because that was just ones That was just on one
of the cable networks last week. There it was and
I finished it out. The Goonies was one. I mean,
I've seen that. Good lord, It's just it's it's funny.
(01:20:29):
There are all those, well except for Major Like, all
those are movies like I relate to, Like you felt
like the underdog with the Karate Kid, the Goonies, like
you know, they were little, they were rebels, like I
was never that because I didn't grow up around people. Yeah,
and I'm like, oh, this is what it's like to
grow up, Like where your where your buddies all live
(01:20:50):
right down the street, and you guys go get into
trouble and ride your bikes and ride your bikes everyone
where the pirate ship is buried in a cave. Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
Sure five went through seven four nine, seven, eight hundred.

I have Frankenstein, Dracula and all those stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
I mean, I've watched those a ton. I wonder what
it is about certain movement in that way, because it
you're still enthralled by it every time you watch it.
I'm entertained by it for sure. Yeah, that's the reason
you watch.
Speaker 26 (01:28:39):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
Let's uh, let's get right to it. Hey, James, you
got a movie recommendation? What do you have?
Speaker 5 (01:28:45):
I sure do. Let me ask you this. Are you
a Vince Spawn fan?
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
Oh yeah, Ben's fun? Oh yeah, you get swing?
Speaker 5 (01:28:52):
All right?
Speaker 27 (01:28:53):
Do you ever get tired of watching him play himself
over and over?
Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
It's a I just watched the Dodgeball again the other night,
as a matter of fact.
Speaker 5 (01:29:05):

Speaker 27 (01:29:06):
This one's called Brawl in Cell Block ninety nine. It's
an indie film from twenty seventeen, one of those straight
to DVDs.
Speaker 1 (01:29:14):
I remember that coming out. He'd like he plays like
some tough guys thing prison dude.
Speaker 20 (01:29:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
Yeah, he didn't play himself.
Speaker 27 (01:29:23):
Yes he plays it. Yeah, no, absolutely not. He plays
a badass skinhead.
Speaker 4 (01:29:28):
Oh, believe it or not.
Speaker 5 (01:29:31):
Yeah, you would like it. You would like it. I've
seen it a few times, all.

Speaker 23 (01:29:48):
Hello, Top the second Top Gun movie. It's a good recommendation.
I watched Top Gun and million times, but I would
I would like to watch the other one a third time.
And then also, if you want to be on the
edge of your seat with a lot of intrigue and
second guessing, watch The Diplomat on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
Is it a binge watch?
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
Is that a that's a that's a TV show right?
Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
Yes?
Speaker 23 (01:30:14):
On Netflix. It's a series. If you don't watch it tonight,
watch it sometime.
Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
It is really good.
Speaker 23 (01:30:21):
They've got two seasons, so you couldn't get it all
done in one night, but it's it's worth the watch
all right on the edge of your seat, a lot
of guessing what's going on? Really good?
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
Thanks you too. See this is I've been watching them
thing on HBO The Chair Company, which is real weird
but it's uh, it's really good. What's the general premise?
It's about a chair company. Let's okay, let's uh, let's
(01:30:54):
talk to It's hard to explain, like lazy boy, Let's
talk to Gary and coloone was Indiana. What's going on?
Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
Gary? Hey, Eddie Love the show Man? Uh?
Speaker 20 (01:31:07):
You and I are about the same age. And I
know you remember this one. But if I was stuck somewhere,
or if the TV was stuck and I could only
watch one movie again that I've seen a thousand times,
it's gotta be cool hand Luke, I mean, And anyone
that doesn't know this movie, you younger people, there's there's
(01:31:32):
no there's not a bunch of shoot them up there.
Speaker 5 (01:31:35):
There's no not a bunch of kill.
Speaker 20 (01:31:37):
There's not even any sex.
Speaker 2 (01:31:40):
But there's except for the girl was of the car.
That's as close as a guest.
Speaker 20 (01:31:45):
Watching the car wash, I will say that is. But maham,
I've watched that so many times, even when my kids
were little.
Speaker 5 (01:31:57):
I made I made him redo.
Speaker 20 (01:31:59):
The open scene with the captain is uh got them
all lined up there and talking to him. And there's
so many one liners from that movie. Oh yeah, the
classic one, of course is what we have here?
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
Well, I will tell you.
Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
Gary not to this mother. Then last year or so,
one of my sons, I forget which one it was,
sent me a note. They're always asked me about old songs,
and they're like, Dad, have you heard this old song?
Dashboard Jesus?
Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
And Uh, I said, and they and they sent me
the YouTube clip or whatever it was where they they
got it. And I said, well, yeah, that's a that's
a it's from the cool Hand Luke, And they're like.
Speaker 20 (01:32:49):
I actually read a story about that. Paul Newman insisted
on learning that himself, even though he was a musician.
Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
He actually played that on the k.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Yeah, and that's yeah, you have to and and things. Gary, Yeah,
you have to look that up. And so you said,
koh and Luke and they said and my son was like, nah, Dad,
this is it was somewhat lady who did this song?
And I said, guy, he's all sent to the YouTube
clip and it was pretty easy to find. Hey, let's
(01:33:21):
talk to John in the car. Hey, John talking about
movie recommendations. What do you have?
Speaker 26 (01:33:26):
Yeah, and I got like, one's called the Group two
back in the seventies or eighties.
Speaker 3 (01:33:34):
What was it?
Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
I'm sorry, the Groove Tube.
Speaker 26 (01:33:36):

The Groome Tube is a comedy.
Speaker 5 (01:33:41):

Speaker 2 (01:33:41):
And then you saw that Oh I saw that one.
Speaker 26 (01:33:45):
Yeah, okay, and oh my guy, it's called twenty Feet
from Stardom and it's about all those backup singers to
the Rolling Stones, you name you name it, you know, uh,
Leonard Skinner who never quite made it, but but never
quite and made it, you know what, John.
Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
I read about that movie. That's definitely something I want
to check out.
Speaker 26 (01:34:07):
Yeah, it's it's a good movie you need to watch.
I mean, coming to back of Things and Ray Charles,
you name it. But they all tried and many just
didn't make it.
Speaker 7 (01:34:14):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:34:15):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (01:34:15):
Was that a move?
Speaker 5 (01:34:17):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
Or was that a document? Documentary? Document? Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
Yeah, and and things? John, Yeah, the I saw one
clip from Mary Clayton, who's you know, on Gimme Shelter.
The lady was a screaming. They called her in the
middle of the night. Would you come here and sing
background on this? She's like, she comes in there in
like her robe and her curlers in her hair at
three in the morning. The Stones are all doing Heroin
(01:34:44):
or what the hell they were doing then, and they
were making lots and lots of money and she wasn't
making much at all.
Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Correct. Let's talk to Dave and lawrenceburg. Hey, Dave, what
do you have?
Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
Hell?
Speaker 28 (01:34:56):
You had the subject before and I'm one of my
go to always, you know, Clint Eastwood and oh god, now,
I forgot the movie Kelly's Heroes. I'm sorry, Kelly's Yeah,
again and again. And we've talked about this before about
how back of the Day going through Blockbuster it takes
about two hours to get through that. Do you have
(01:35:17):
the same thing going through like Netflix, Prime everything where
you're sitting there, it takes longer to find a movie
you get engaged to. I mean yeah, like it takes
an hour to find something. It's like, oh yeah, you
pick one and you're engaged in it, but you just
can't make, you know, pull that trigger.
Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
That's me. But Dave, were you were you like me
going to Blockbuster? Would you walk along and just I
would look. I would think, Okay, I know what I want.
But then I would just say, I wonder what else
they have? And I would walk around the whole store,
and by that time I left there, I didn't even
know what I wanted to watch because I looked at
the mount always different movies. You probably that sounds good?
Speaker 28 (01:35:56):
Can you probably see almost everything they handle the show?
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
Yeah? Yeah, I hear you.
Speaker 28 (01:36:02):
Anyway, that's my choice.
Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
Good, Thanks buddy, Blockbuster. What a place.
Speaker 1 (01:36:09):

I think. I'm like, I know I saw it, but
I think I saw that when I first came out.
I don't know if I remember if I saw it
on theater or if I saw it on video. But yeah,
that is a great movie.
Speaker 5 (01:36:36):
I'm a veteran, so I like veteran movies. So Furry's
pretty good.
Speaker 29 (01:36:40):
To the guys in the tank and uh, Save a
Private Ryan band of brothers, I just every time I
see him, I see something different than them.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
Yeah, and thanks. You know what, I'm one of the
few one of the major movies I've never seen and I.
Speaker 1 (01:36:58):
Always get crap for it. I never seemed Saving Private, right, Yeah,
or Schindler's List, because I just stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:37:05):

Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
It reminds me so much of my childhood.
Speaker 3 (01:37:24):
The Sandblot.
Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
Oh yeah, The Sandlot's great.
Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
It's just fun to watch it on TV. I have
to watch it. I just can't not watch it.
Speaker 2 (01:37:33):
And the one movie that I think I would.
Speaker 30 (01:37:36):

Speaker 2 (01:37:51):
I was, that's a great one.
Speaker 1 (01:37:52):
It's unlike HBO or something. And she always she always
lets me choose a movie and I don't tell her
what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:37:58):

I haven't seen it, but I remember it being around.
Speaker 31 (01:38:40):
Oh they run like a little fitness training facility, and
then like they ended up, they ended up. It's funny
they ended up like kidnapping a guy trying to like
a get rich quick game and it went wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
What's it called?
Speaker 31 (01:38:54):
